Zarya VS Heavy is a What-If? episode of Death Battle featuring Zarya from Overwatch and The Heavy from Team Fortress 2 in a battle between tanks from team-based shooters.
Interlude[]
Wiz: When you think of Russians, what do you think of.
Boomstick: Vodka and Tanks.
Wiz: I was thinking of Strong Individuals with big ass guns.
Boomsick: Zarya. The pink hair tank hero from Overwatch.
Wiz: And The Heavy. the high-power mini gun user from Team fortress 2
Boomstick: He’s Wiz and I’m Boomstick
Wiz: And its our job to Anyalize their weapons, armour, and skills to find out who would, a Death Battle
Zarya[]
Wiz: Growing up surrounded by the post-war destruction of the Omnic Crisis, Zarya became a champion weightlifter and used her strength and fame to help her nation rebuild. Now, she has sacrificed personal glory to protect her people on the front lines of a war against a deadly new mechanical threat.
Boomsick: Aleksandra was born in a remote Siberian village that was on the front lines of the Omnic Crisis. Although Russian forces defeated the robots and shut down their omnium, the region was devastated by the conflict.
Wiz: Only a child at the time, Aleksandra lost her father in the war and grew up surrounded by the devastation.
Boomsick: Once again, another losing your parents origin story.
Wiz: As she grew older, she swore that she would gain the strength to help her people recover. Focusing on weightlifting and bodybuilding, Aleksandra was identified by the national athletics program as a potential star. She trained extensively, moving up the ranks while representing her country, and was expected to shatter longstanding records in the upcoming world championships.
Boomsick: And man did her training pay off. Her weight lifting record is 512kg, as also stated on her Tattoo. Stated to be stronger than Brigitte.
Wiz: Zarya is also able to keep up with fast opponents like Sombra and Cassidy in combat.
Boomsick: But perhaps her most powerful ally, is her MOTHER FUCKING PARTICLE CANNON! Man that thing is definitely on my weapon bucket list.
Wiz: The Particle Cannon is attached to an array of energy batteries within her uniform. On its own, it is a very weak weapon in contrast to its size with a thin, hard-to-aim beam with limited range. However, it grows in power as Zarya absorbs incoming attacks with her barriers, allowing her to shred through heavily armored foes with ease with a wide-reaching and long-ranged upon reaching maximum charge. In addition, she can also compress her Particle Cannon's energy into orbs that she fires in an arc, exploding on impact with any surface to deal damage similar to an explosive round.
Boomsick: At its weakest it is able to easily destroy a Bastion Unit with a single blast, and can destroy entire groups of them at once at higher levels of power.
Wiz: But the Particle Cannon is not the only thing Zarya has in her pockets.
Boomsick: The Particle Cannon can emit a personal barrier called Particle Barrier. The Particle Barrier shields Zarya against incoming attacks, redirecting their energy to enhance her weapon’s damage and the width of its beam. The Projected Barrier surrounds one of her teammates with an energy barrier that simultaneously absorbs fire and boosts the power of her Particle Cannon.
Wiz: Of course Zarya is not perfect. Zarya is somewhat arrogant, she must absorb damage with her Particle Barriers to charge her Particle Cannon to optimal levels, Her Particle Barriers can only take so much punishment and have a significant recharge period between uses.
Boomsick: But despite her flaws, she will go down as one of the most powerful overpowered characters in Overwatch history.

Next Time on Death Battle![]
Heavy VS Zarya is a What-If? episode of Death Battle by XarXel, featuring The Heavy from Team Fortress 2 and Zarya from Overwatch.
Intro[]
Boomstick: "Mikhail, the Heavy Weapons Guy of Team Fortress 2."
Wiz: "Aleksandra Zaryanova, Russian Defense Force's finest in Overwatch."
Boomstick: "Mother Russia, home of vodka, circus bears, Tetris, helicopters - yes, really - and, of course-"
Wiz: "-Two of the biggest FPS heavyweights carrying around their big guns."
Boomstick: "Awww, I was getting to that! He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick."
Wiz: "And it's our job to test their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win a DEATH BATTLE!"
Meet the Heavy Weapons Guy in DEATH BATTLE![]
Wiz: "1850. Zepheniah Mann was stricken with almost EVERY disease known to man on his journey to see his newly purchased land, which was an empty and useless desert. Upon his death, he leaves his land split in the hands of his two 'brain defective' sons - his words, not mine - Blutarch and Redmon."
Boomstick: "But like any sibling rivalry, they bicker over the control of the vast lands left to them by their father. It's gotten so out of control, they had hired teams of nine mercenaries each in order to quickly defeat the other sibling and take control of his lands. With their teams so evenly matched, this begins the war of Team Fortress... 2."
Wiz: "There were a lot of contenders, but the brothers actually chose the rejects, which considering their backgrounds, certainly wasn't drawing the short end of the stick. There's the Spy, a sneaky bastard literally played around stabbing you in the back, the Pyro, armed with a flamethrower powerful enough to burn down buildings, and the insane rocket jumping Soldier."
Boomstick: "Look at him fly! Majestic like the bald eagle! But the most iconic and biggest member of the mercs, is undoubtedly the Heavy Weapons Guy. Known as Mikhail, he's spent part of his childhood in the gulag. Great start. Eventually, he and his family escaped, and became a mercenary to earn enough money to feed them. Must've been a massive haul considering how much feeding the size of Mikhail needed."
Wiz: "Weighing in at over 400 pounds and as tall as 6 foot 3, the Heavy is comparable to a hibernating bear. Despite his menacing presence, the Heavy is quite the gentle giant, being one of the more calm and composed of the mercenaries. After all, the job was to feed his family to begin with. But like a hibernating bear, confusing his deliberate, sleepy demeanor with gentleness will get you ripped limb from limb."
Boomstick: "That includes you, Scout mains. Speaking of which, the Heavy once, in Scout's words 'punched out all of my blood'. This is the same Scout who survived 3 rocket exploding in his face, and strong enough to accidentally move a replica of Ayer's Rock made from Styrofoam and balsa wood. And don't think he punched the door - looking closely, the actual door was right next to where Scout placed his fist on."
Wiz: "Ayer's Rock is as wide as 3.6 by 2.4 kilometers wide and 384 meters tall. To move that much Styrofoam and balsa wood, Scout would have a kinetic punch of 146 tons of TNT. That is over 3 times the power of the Father Of All Bombs. And the Heavy can no doubt match that strength, as he is the only class that uses his own fists as melee weapons in the game. Not to mention, Scout wasn't even trying."
Boomstick: "Punching all the blood out of this slugger maybe impressive, but landing one at all is a miracle, because this idiot soap sandwich is ridiculously fast. This Cross-Comm Express cosmetic is designed to receive lightspeed satellite signals on the Scout, but said signals can't catch up to him! Heavy is out here uppercutting bozos that move faster than light! I've said it before, and I'll say it again - WHAT KIND OF SANDWICHES ARE THEY FEEDING THIS GUY!?"
Wiz: "But the Heavy isn't just a melee fighter. His job is simply mowdown, and there's no way better than with his iconic weapon - the Minigun - which he calls Sasha. It-"
Boomstick: "Let me handle this. She weighs 150 kilograms and fires $200 custom tool cartridges at ten thousand rounds per minute. It costs $400,000 to fire this weapon for 12 seconds. If you dare try to face Heavy with this baby out, it will shred you and all your teammates to pieces. It tore through an entire army of Soldiers in seconds, leaving an entire pile of corpses to climb on! God, Sasha is a thing of beauty."
Wiz: "Yes, this minigun is powerful, but he can only unleash so much damage without running out of bullets. However, aside from his hand-to-hand combat skills, the Heavy is not left unarmed when Sasha is depleted. He carries a shotgun, blasting pellets powerful enough to blow your head off within close range. All in all, he is the Heavy Weapons Guy for a reason."
Boomstick: "But even he can take so much damage before death, and the Medic is not gonna be around to heal him, especially not in DEATH BATTLE. Luckily, he can carry a sandwich around- oh, sorry - SANDVICH. One bite of this and Heavy will heal from all wounds, though it's best to eat without any enemies around. With sandwiches like these, it's no wonder Mikhail grew so big."
Wiz: "But Heavy isn't tied to just his minigun, shotgun, sandwich, and fists. He has a full arsenal... of variants of his minigun, shotgun, sandwich, and fists. Natascha may be a little slow, but once it hits the target, they slow down and take more bullets in the process. The Brass Beast, which he calls Oksana, deals far more damage, but it slows him down even more."
Boomstick: "The Tomislav, Svetlana, is a silent killer, trading normal firing speed for the element of surprise. But my favorite minigun in Heavy's arsenal is the Huo-Long Heater. This beast, who refers as Sheila, creates a ring of flames around Heavy just by warming up. Heh, heh. With his enemies aflame, the heater's bullets do even more damage.
Wiz: "He only has 2 other shotguns, the Family Business, which has faster firing than the regular shotgun, and the Panic Attack, which can build up clips into the shotgun and launch them all at rapid paces. There's a lot more to say about his other snacks. His Dalokohs Bar can raise his health up fifty points for 30 seconds, the Second Banana can be used over and over without cooldown unless injured, and the Buffalo Steak Sandvich grants him mini-crits."
Boomstick: "Wait, are critical hits even canon?"
Wiz: "Well, it's not the only weapon in the game that gives you mini-crits. Jarate and Mad Milk can grant any weapon to mini-crit on the opponent they landed on, and Scout literally has a drink that grants his weapons critical damage."
Boomstick: "Huh. Well, that can be inferred to his melee weapons, like the Killing Gloves of Boxing, which grants him full crits after a kill. Doesn't sound useful for DEATH BATTLE. His Gloves of Running Urgently increases his pitiful speed, but this somehow makes him more vulnerable as if all his health was transferred to his legs for movement."
Wiz: "The Warrior's Spirit offers stronger blows, but make Heavy more vulnerable. The Fists Of Steel can resist ranged attacks, but it makes melee attacks against him hurt more. His Eviction Notice can also grants him better speed, even increasing with every blow he lands. And his most unique melee weapon is the Holiday Punch."
Boomstick: "This can't harm anyone, but with a strike to the back, Heavy's victims are forced to laugh uncontrollably. Never underestimate the Christmas festive spirt, or whatever Russian holiday Mikhail celebrates. This leaves them for anything Heavy has in stored, like just shooting you with his fingers. Yeah, he can just form a finger-gun and win a western showdown. Ten-year-old me would be so jealous. Hell, I'm jealous right now!"
Wiz: "With all these varied weapons, it's hard to imagine a big dumb guy like Heavy would just be mowing down his opponents. Well, as his arsenal would suggest, Heavy is not dumb. In fact, he has a PHD in Russian Literature, giving him more of a status than the Medic, since he lost his own medical license. And he claims 'it has more uses in his line of work than you would think'. To be fair, facing the Grey Mann Machine Army, Merasmus, and Saxton Hale require more than strength."
Boomstick: "It's not like he can just stop a train with his bare hands. Well, not a complete stop (End Of The Line SFM still isn't canon). These are big bosses, and he'd need all the other mercs to stand a chance against them. I mean, Merasmus is one wacky wizard, powerful enough to cloud up the clear sky, and flood entire maps with water. Creating that much water on maps has tall as Hightower would be worth 400 Kilotons of TNT. But how about that Saxton Hale? Getting Chuck Norris vibes from him."
We cut to Wiz and Boomstick in the lab...
Wiz: "Saxton has drove the Yeti species to extinction, which were claimed nothing on Earth could harm them. This includes the Tsar Bomb, Merasmus' magic, and Apple of all companies. One of the items they were selling in this universe was a button that blows up the moon. I'm not kidding. Saxton is so powerful, Heavy's fists had to be charged with crits to even stand a chance."
Boomstick: "Hale's almost completely out of Heavy's league, but he briefly played tug-of-war with Saxton's ex, Maggie. And if she can survive Saxton's poundings, so would Heavy."
Wiz: "I don't remember them having a physical f-" (pauses) (deep breath) "You're exhausting, Boomstick. You can't go one day without an 'eh-eh' joke?"
Boomstick: "What do you mean 'joke'? If Maggie can have sex with a moon destroyer, she can scale to such a beast! It's the science of the F*CK, Wiz!"
Wiz: (groans) "Anyways, Heavy has smashed through doors, wrestle giant brown bears, and went face to face with the Team Fortress Classic Heavy, who prior has killed the Medic. Once Mikhail practically beat him senselessly, this Heavy pulled a cowardly cheat, amping himself with Australium. This rare metal is no joke, it practically gives you eternal life, and can transmute your carcass into a golden statue. He put our Heavy down for good, if the Medic wasn't brought back to life."
Boomstick: "See, the Medic spread his soul to the other 8 mercs as a way to get out of hell, essentially outplaying the Devil into bringing him back to life. With a well made distraction, Mikhail defeated the Classic Heavy by taking away his Australium. And Team Fortress Classic have defeated the best of the best - Echelon, Citadel, even Team Vanguard. For Mikhail to even resort old Heavy to such a dirty tactic shows that literature PHD really does help him in his line of work."
Wiz: "Through thick and thin, Heavy has faced a lot with the mercs he works with, some he would call his friends, others would engage with his own family. Lovely. But it should be stated you should not underestimate these rejects, as if you think you can outsmart this big brute, you better hope to outsmart his bullets."
Zarya Fights For The Motherland in DEATH BATTLE![]
Wiz: "The Omnic Crisis, an event that changed everything. A global attack by advanced robots called Omnics caught everyone by surprise, all controlled by the God unit, Anubis, wanting ecological balance around the world."
Boomstick: "Of course, our Global-Warming causing asses had to go, but one team stood in the army's way; Overwatch. Elite members took out entire sections overrunning with violent Omnics practically by themselves, bringing hope to the defenseless armies. But it was still not enough."
Wiz: That is, until the Awakening. This Awakening gave all the Omnics sentience - some chose to stop fighting, others continued, but it was enough of an impact for Overwatch to gain the winning edge, and quarantine Anubis for good. Of course, with robots being as sentient as humans now, it caused racial conflicts from both sides as everybody live with the new world order."
Boomstick: "This especially affected some of the heroes at Overwatch itself, including the Russian heavyweight we'll be talking about today, Aleksandra Zaryanova! Damn, what a cool last name. Zarya grew up during the Omnic Crisis, seeing the damage to her homeland at such an early age, even after the Awakening. She swore she would help the people of Russia recover when she was big and strong enough."
Wiz: "Zarya would get into weight lifting and bodybuilding, inspired by Russian Olympic champion Vasily Alekseyev, who could lift over 600 kilograms, where she almost matches it her record of 512 kilograms. But on the eve of the Olympic tournament, the long-dormant Siberian omnium thrusts her village into war once again. Zarya immediately withdrew from the competition and rushed home to enlist in the local defense forces, sacrificing the life of fame and fortune she might have had."
Boomstick: "And while fighting the good fight, Zarya rips a particle cannon out from an armored vehicle and it becomes her standard weapon. The Particle Cannon unleashes a short-range beam of destructive energy, draining all the health from foes coming in contact with it. Alternatively, Zarya can lob an explosive charge to strike multiple opponents."
Wiz: "This cannon does more than offense, however, thanks to the Particle Barrier. The Particle Cannon can emit a personal barrier that shields Zarya against incoming attacks, redirecting their energy to enhance her weapon’s damage and the width of its beam. Lasting 10 seconds, it can absorb 40% of energy before breaking."
Boomstick: "But the Particle Cannon's ultimate ability is the Gravity Surge. Zarya launches a pseudo black hole that pulls in enemy combatants and deals damage while they’re trapped. With the enemy team potentially caught in this, Zarya has a window of opportunity to blast them with her cannon however she wants."
Wiz: "The cannon is powered by a Tobelstein Reactor, the same one the robot, Orisa, uses. This is the same robot that threatened Doomfist of all characters, enough of one that he wanted her destroyed. This is the same Doomfist whose gauntlet could level a skyscraper. That would be worth 1 and a half Kilotons."
Boomstick: "Orisa was ultimately no match for Doomfist, but it's a real pleasure for even this strong man, who could just punch through prison walls, needing to kill you. And with all this power, she decimated Omnics throughout the war, even through Christmas. But she was tasked with a very important mission by the CEO of Volskaya Industries herself, Katya Volskaya, a huge heroic figure of Russia."
Wiz: "She was tasked of tracking down a Talon agent named Sombra, due to her blackmailing Katya with her dealings with Omnics. Much to her shock, Zarya suggested a spy of their own instead, but Katya's mind was clear. The search has journeyed her all over the world, and her lead was running dry. Her last hope was to meet a hacker in Numbani."
Boomstick: "It wasn't bad enough she arrived in a city of humans and omnics living together, the hacker just had to be an omnic himself. She loathed every second of it, but Lynx 17 did find a lead that finally finds Sombra. The two battled with an array of bullets and explosions, with Lynx getting hacked but also Zarya managing to trap her in a Gravity Surge on her own Translocator."
Wiz: "While she had the hacker trapped, Sombra tells Zarya the very secret Katya wanted to remain secret - her dealings with the Omnics. She also explains she WANTED Katya in power, to 'get to the bottom of everything'. Why did she explain this to Zarya? To buy time before the warehouse exploded. Knowing that, Zarya grabbed the hacked Lynx and got out of there in time."
Boomstick: "This was the equivalent of a stroke to a robot. Her prejudice didn't matter, Zarya was right to save his life. And even with that prejudice, her view on the world was now changed from this mission. Russia's big hero has made a deal with the enemy, and said enemies aren't incapable of peacefully living with humans. All she's learned from this is 'together, we are strong'."
Wiz: "But she's not weak on her own. Zarya's slain many Omnics, who can perceive events in a microfraction of a microsecond. Taking this literally, that's tracking speeds of over 3 thousand times the speed of light. She could stand against the rest of the Overwatch cast as well, facing off against cybernetically enhanced heroes like Tracer, Genji, Reinhardt, and Wrecking Ball, whose metal ball can roll fast enough to catch fire. Looking at it's size, moving this at Mach 5 would be worth 5 tons of kinetic energy."
Boomstick: "Then, there's beasts like Illari, who can harness the power of the sun. Like, when they practically infused her body with sun energy, the entire lab exploded, conducting an energy worth 4 Teratons. But there's an even stronger foe - Sigma. This poor scientist received immeasurable mental damage from a black hole experiment, but he also gained some of it's power. While we can't say for sure how much, he could move that black hole from side to side."
Wiz: "Considering the size of the black hole, moving it at that speed would be worth 784 Petatons. That's enough to nuke Russia, Zarya's homeland and the largest country, more than a hundred times over. But outside of Sombra or McCree - sorry, Cassidy - Zarya doesn't actually fight against or with any of the playable characters canonically, so it's hard to say if she really does scale to these characters."
Boomstick: "Yeah, she kinda relies on that 'together, we are strong' strategy. She doesn't have any conventional way to move around quickly, and out of all the Tank Class heroes, she's the softest in terms of health. But 600 is more than 300."
Wiz: "In her line of duty, Zarya has slain so many Omnics in the name of her country. Through thick and thin, she'll take down as many enemies as she could, not wasting a single moment for Russia to be vulnerable, and that's commendable, comrade."
Fight[]
We set the mood viewing a flickering light bulb in a dimly lit warehouse. The camera pans down moderately, giving the view of all the stockpiled weapons collecting dust on the shelves in the warehouse, before finally showing our two combatants sitting around a table. Their titular weapons are on their respective right sides. Next to Zarya's seat on the left was the blue briefcase stolen from RED base.
Both Heavy and Zarya stared eachother down as the clock ticking echoes throughout the warehouse louder and louder. They look at their hands full of cards, neither of them satisfied with what they had. Zarya folds and awaits for a talk instead.
Heavy: "So, you from Russia?"
Zarya: "Fought on front lines of army, comrade."
Heavy smirked, no longer seeing her as another mere opponent, but a challenge for his Russian muscles. Heavy throws his cards behind his back, cracks his knuckles, and slams his elbow on the table.
Heavy: "Let us begin."
His hand awaits Zarya's for arm wrestling, where she remained skeptical. But she nonetheless obliges and grabs the hand with her own for arm wrestling.
FIGHT!
The two Russians dig their elbows into the table, struggling to push back the other's arm. Their strength causes the table to wobble, the creaking and thumping echoing throughout the warehouse. The ground starts to shake, knocking over Heavy and Zarya's titular weapons. Cutting back to the arms, we see Heavy gaining the lead with pushing back Zarya's force.
Despite seemingly winning, Heavy gets a good look at his watch and finds himself running out of time. With quick thinking, he pulls on Zarya's arm and headbutts her in the face. Discombobulating her, Heavy slams her arm on the table, breaking it and the floor. Heavy wipes his hands for a job well done, and he grabs the briefcase as a reward.
Heavy: "Do svidaniya."
He heads out, grabbing his minigun on the way. Zarya punches the floor in anger, and retaliates by grabbing her Particle Cannon and charging up a lob.
Zarya: "Moshennik!"
Zarya lobs an energy ball right for the Heavy. He looks behind his back and sees the projectile, attempting to block it. But it came to fast and blasts into his face (I hate that it sounds dirty), tumbling him back. Heavy didn't take too kindly to that, pulling out Sasha and shooting dozens of bullets at once straight for the Weightlifter. She shields a couple of the bullets with her Cannon, but most of them hit her skin. Of course, her smirk confirmed this was for false hope, as she snaps her fingers and activates her Particle Barrier.
The barrier absorbs the rest of Heavy's bullets, and the Cannon's core brightens up as it gains power. Heavy stopped firing in confusion of this shield suddenly popping up out of nowhere. As the barrier disappears, it was the perfect time for Zarya to conjure a beam that blasts Heavy crashing into a way in the gut. Knowing he'll have to keep his distance, Heavy swaps out Sasha for a shotgun and starts firing rounds as he runs to the side.
The Cannon's beam followed Mikhail, taking away so much health, but a lucky shotgun blast damaged Zarya's eye, making her lose focus. Because she was tending to her wound, Zarya lost track of the Heavy.
Zarya: "You can't run, Mikhail!"
She walks sneakily across the warehouse, looking for such a big guy. There were shelves with tons of weapons boxed up here, it was hard to find another person around the corner. Unfortunately, Heavy chew very loudly on his sanvich, gaining back a lot of health but alerting Zarya in the process. She blasts through a sizable hole in a shelf, revealing the Heavy from behind. The blast also cut through Heavy's pants, where his boxers are showing. He walks away embarrassedly covering the open hole.
Heavy quickly equips the Gloves of Running Urgently to do it's namesake away from Zarya, who begins lobbing balls of energy all around. Just as Heavy turns a corner, Zarya uses the bright idea to lob a ball over the shelves to cut him of. Heavy sees the ball above landing in where he'd be running towards, if not for quickly changing directions to avoid the blast.
Zarya comes around the corner to see where the Heavy went, only to look down the hall to find him already revving up his minigun and firing her on sight. Zarya puts up her Particle Barrier, absorbing some of the bullets, before Heavy stopped firing in annoyance of her barrier. He tries to get away, but Zarya blasts her cannon right onto Sasha, the continuous beam eventually tore Sasha apart. Heavy stopped what he was doing in sheer devastation.
Heavy: "SASHA!!"
Heavy mourns for his dismantled gun, confusing Zarya and making her uncomfortable. She's never seen someone care that much for their weapon, makes her think she took hers for granted. She pats her Cannon in such confusion. Heavy slams his Fists of Steel on the floor, fracturing it and shaking the warehouse. He quickly got up and charges right into Zarya.
Zarya was caught off-guard by the running Russian mercenary. She tried blasting him with the Particle Cannon's beam, but the Fists of Steel resisted the beam, getting Heavy to close in the distance. He uppercuts Zarya, knocking her back a step, and continues to wail on her with several punches across her body. Heavy finishes the combo with lunging both his fists forward and launching Zarya a fair distance, her Cannon skidding farther away.
Heavy walks in closer, reloading his shotgun for the "final" blow. Zarya anxiously reaches for her cannon in a panic. Just as Heavy points his shotgun right in her face, Zarya manages to grab her cannon and lob a ball of energy, which misses his face. Heavy would've like to turn his head back and chuckle before blowing her face off, but knowing of what else that cannon is capable of, he'd rather wait and see what this one would do. Once striking the ground, it turns out to be the Gravity Surge, which not only pulls Heavy in with him trying to resist, but also other weapons and shelves around him, which push him back and pile on him with dozens of boxes weighing him down.
With her opponent buried under rubble, Zarya lobs three balls of energy onto the pile, blowing it up entirely. It seems anything left is burning in the flames, ashes otherwise.
Zarya: "Do svidaniya, you wretched bas-"
Suddenly, a sheet of metal was thrown out of the fire and slapped Zarya in the face, interrupting her. If that wasn't enough, Mikhail comes out from under the debris and fire like nothing. Along with him, he brought the Brass Beast, revving it up and preparing to shoot.
Heavy: "Say it to my face!"
Heavy fires bullets right into Zarya, with her Particle Barrier popping up to protect her. Just as Zarya gives a smug look on her face, 4 bullets cracked and shattered the barrier, catching Zarya off-guard. The bullets kept coming, making Zarya bleed more and more, while the Heavy came closer and closer. Zarya manages to block enough of them with her cannon to get an opening with blasting right for the Brass Beast, vaporizing it entirely.
With no more weight holding him back, Heavy closes in with a punch of his Gloves of Running Urgently right on Zarya's shoulder. Then, he lands another blow on the woman, and another, and another, before trapping her in a rapid jab.
Heavy: "This for Oksana!"
Zarya has enough of these punches and slams her cannon into Heavy's gut, disorienting him. She then fires a beam right on his chest, sending him flying across the warehouse screaming. Mikhail crashes against stacks of stuff, in a similar manner to Tracer crashing. Unlike Tracer, Heavy was left with slightly broken bones, making movement to even get up unbearable. He however pushed through and took a bite of his Second Banana, seemingly healing his bones.
Looking over his shoulder, he finds two other miniguns, Natacha and Sheila. Happy to see them, Heavy pulls both of them out with excitement. He was so excited finding them, he doesn't notice Svetlana being shown after pulling the other two out. Suddenly, a lob of energy lands on Svetlana, causing an explosion that knocks Mikhail back.
Zarya is seen running intensely, wanting to make sure the dolboyob is dead for good. To her lack of surprise, she doesn't find anything in the area that suggests such. Coming from behind on the elevated level of stairs, Heavy quickly blasts Zarya with Natacha's bullets. Zarya dodges the first dozen, but some manage to hit her, and suddenly, she becomes slightly slower than before with each bullet, which are hitting her more consistently.
Taking notice of this, Zarya deployed the barrier once more for countermeasures, absorbing the minigun's bullets again. Heavy begrudgingly stops firing with a grumpy tone, putting off fighting from a distance and coming in closer.
Zarya: "How many times must we run in circles?"
As the barrier fades, Zarya lobs balls of energy for the Ironclad. Heavy narrowly dodges all of them, still steamrolling right into Zarya. The impact shuttered the air around them, but Zarya manages to hold back Mikhail's massive muscles with her trusty Particle Cannon.
Zarya: "You are mere mercenary, fighting only for paycheck. Where I, Aleksandra Zaryanova, have fought in the Russian Army herself! I've slaughtered HUNDREDS of robots-"
Heavy: "So have I! And a troublesome wizard every Halloween! How's that for mere mercenary?"
Mikhail pulls out the Huo-Long Heater and slams it on the ground. It revs up fire across the floor, which spreads up Zarya's body, causing her immense pain and crying out in agony. Heavy takes this opportunity to blast her with bullets, dealing more damage thanks to her burning skin. Zarya fights back with blasting a beam right at Heavy's shoulder, practically piercing through it. It was intense, but Heavy pulls through and continues firing.
The two Russian brutes continued draining eachother's health with bullets, flames, and lasers. However, this confrontation leads Zarya to gain her ultimate ability once more. Seeing no other options, she launches a gravity bomb at the stairs behind Heavy. The impact pulls Heavy in and dogpiles boxes on top of him. As the boxes were caught in the black hole, Zarya jumps on one box to the next to get a shot from above. Heavy pushes back a bunch of boxes just to witness his opponent to take the final blow.
Zarya: "Take this maximum charge!"
Zarya lobs a ball of energy, the biggest she's lobbed in this bout. With all of Heavy's weapons are immovable in the Gravity Surge, all he's left with is his fists. His fists tense up, so much so a red electric bolt surges in his right hand.
Heavy: "I shall rip spine from your rectum."
Mikhail uppercuts the ball of energy, with the critical hit smacking the ball right back into Zarya. Caught off-guard, Zarya was left suffering the blast, which causes to vaporize the cannon entirely. Heavy pushed against the Gravity Surge and gears up with his Warrior's Spirit. He runs with his Buffalo Steak in hand and takes a hard bite of it. Surging with Mini-crits, Heavy rushes to the falling Zarya to deal the finishing blows.
Heavy throws two hook punches, keeping Zarya in the air. He pulls her down and knees her in the stomach, launching her right for a wall. Despite the injuries, she pushes forward and tries to ram into Mikhail. However, he switches one of his gloves to Holiday punch and scoots out of the way when she throws a punch. Heavy counters back with a punch onto her back.
The strange stimulation left Zarya motionless, before she started laughing. She could not stop laughing, even with Heavy walking in front of her and posing like a cowboy. Zarya remained laughing as she watches with horror (despite her smile) as Heavy pointed at her with a finger gun (you can't see it beneath the Holiday Punch glove).
Heavy: "POW!"
Zarya's chests bursts through, blasting her across the warehouse and crashing into metal containers. The light fades from her eyes as she coughs up blood, closing her eyelids for good.
Heavy: "That's for my ladies."

Play Of The Game
Boomstick: "It's not that impressive in-game."
Wiz: "This seemed like it could've gone down the same way Tracer VS Scout did, but both of them are more complex in this fight."
Boomstick: "Both had their fair share of being the best of the Russian Army or beating the best mercenary team, so it's at least safe to say their skills were evenly matched. And to compliment those skills, they had very versatile weaponry."
Wiz: "Heavy had many weapons each with their own attributes, like Natacha slowing you down with every bullet, Huo-Long Heater with the flames no Overwatch character really displayed of showing or dealing with, or the various healing items he has on hand. On the other hand, Zarya's Particle Cannon has so many uses, such as blasting beams or balls of energy, suck enemies into a trapping vortex, and deploying a barrier that absorbs damage and charges her power, effectively using Heavy's bullets against him."
Boomstick: "I guess she outsmarted bullet. With so much creativity they could muster with those gifted skills, all that would matter now would how well they would actually hurt eachother. That's where Mikhail gets the upper hand. For speed, Heavy could hit the faster than light Scout. No one in Overwatch could ever react that fast, especially not Zarya."
Wiz: "Granted, she's faced off against possibly thousands of Omnics, who could perceive at 3,000 times lightspeed, but perception doesn't automatically translate to reactions. Zarya could see the Heavy's fist from a mile away, and she still wouldn't have enough time to properly react. She could plan out faster, but ultimately, her best reactions were matching up with Wrecking Ball rolling at Mach 5."
Boomstick: "He has shown to be physically stronger than Scout, who's punch at it's weakest was 30 times greater (29 specifically) than Wrecking Ball's kinetic energy. Even his weapons have handled greater foes like Merasmus, who's water magic is over 100 times stronger than Doomfist's biggest punch."
Wiz: "Of course, these aren't the strongest feats for these characters. Those go to Saxton Hale and Sigma. For the ladder, Sigma was exposed to the power of a black hole long enough to be able to move it around at his own will, clocking in at 784 Petatons."
Boomstick: "But Heavy has briefly matched Saxton Hale's ex, and his crits can help him hold his own against Saxton. This man wiped out a species of Yetis so durable, nothing on Earth could kill them, even the iBlewUpTheMoon button. Destroying the moon would be a potency of 30 Exatons, an energy equating to Sigma juggling FORTY black holes at the same time! And keep in mind, this is assuming Zarya can scale to Sigma."
Wiz: "The closest we can assume to justify this scaling would be the Particle Cannon at it's maximum power. It's likely more than enough to cut down Heavy down to size, but the problem is the specifics. She gains more power as her barrier takes damage, and with Heavy's intelligence proven high by his PhD, he'd at least conserve his ammo when the barrier pops up. And any of his weapons can gain the random chance of a critical hit unless stated otherwise, making it more likely than Zarya's maximum power."
We cut to Wiz and Boomstick in the lab.
Wiz: "Zarya was the strongest alone, but she could not hand the varied firepower, the impressive speed, or the massive muscles of the Heavy."
Boomstick: "Looks like the Iron Curtain falls on Zarya today!"
Wiz: "The winner is the Heavy Weapons Guy."
Advantages & Disadvantages[]
- Heavy
- + Physically stronger & faster
- + Many more options in weaponry
- + Random crits
- = Matched in skills and experience
- Zarya
- + More creative options
- + Faster perception speed
- = Matched in skills and experience
- - Lacking in physicality
Soundtrack[]
The cover name would be "Russian Roulette", referencing this entire suicidal game gone by the same name where people pass around a gun to shoot themselves with. This would have big bombastic music akin to other Russian songs, like Vessel, with the added instruments of jazz and trumpets, giving the track the combatant's general theme of their respective games.
The track cover would have a roulette wheel (Blacks representing TF2 classes, and Reds representing Overwatch classes), with the spinner taking the form of Heavy's minigun, as it lands on Zarya's insignia.
Trivia[]
- The connections:
- They are Russian heavyweight classes in iconic online first-person shooter games.
- They carry big guns as their source of offense (or defense)
- Both have suffered through Russian wars at very young ages, yet remain loyal to their country
- This battle would be animated in SFM.
- Overwatch just released a new character, Mauga, and I believe he would be a fun matchup with Heavy. But I feel like he still has the most connections to Zarya, even if I haven't listed them all down yet.
