Description[]
Lego Ninjago vs RWBY! These two androids, created by fathers with cryokinetic abilites have been destroyed, remade, and look much different than they used to. Despite their robotic existence, they still have great friends that support them no matter what, but which of these two 'cool' androids would win in a Death Battle.
Interlude[]
Counter: There always seems to be someone that just doesn't...fit in.
Kaiya: Oh, is this Hannah's battle?
Damien: Heh. But when this someone is actually a cryokinetic, butt-kicking robot, they suddenly get a whole lot 'cooler'! Ha!
Hannah: Zane, the White Ninja of Ice from Ninjago.
Kaiya: And Penny Polendina, the former Winter Maiden from RWBY!
Counter: I'm Counter and these are my partners Damien, Kai and Hannah!
Damien: And we've taken over from Wiz and Boomstick to analyse their weapons, armour and skills to find out who would win a Death Battle!
Zane (Zac)[]
Counter: Deep within the Birchwood forest, before any of the Elemental Ninja we all know and love were born, lived only one man. The Tinkerer, also down as Dr. Julien. An inventor with a big heart. Aiming to build a robot that would protect those who could not protect themselves, he created one of the most important heroes in Ninjago.
Kaiya: This humble robot was simply named...Zane. Kinda lame name for an ass-kicking robot, but what are you gonna do?
Damien: ...What would you call Zane, then?
Kaiya: The IceMaster 3000! Kicking ass and eating bubblegum!
(silence)
Hannah: ...It might interest you to know that Zane was not built with ice in mind. He didn’t have much going on at first, to be honest. However, Dr. Julien taught Zane how to walk, talk, kick a ball and cook, even coming to think of Zane as his own child.
Counter: Until one day, an old man came along. The winter seemed to follow the man, and after his visit...well, let’s just say Zane wasn’t the same robot! He was given cryokinetic abilities! ...Which he didn’t unlock until Season 4!...
Kaiya: All was well....until Dr. Julien died of old age and removed Zane’s memories before he kicked the bucket, leaving Zane alone and orphaned.
Damien: But this was probably for the best! Why, because he met another mysterious old man, coincidentally! This man was Sensei Wu, and he took Zane in to train to become a ninja, with two new friends at his side.
Kaiya: Makes you wonder how they never heard any metal banging or hurt their hands while they sparred with each other. Regardless, Zane became one of the most...coldest and unfeeling friend in the world, but they stuck by him. Would you guys stick by me if turned out to be...uh, a full robot?
(SMACK!)
Hannah: Definitely not a robot.
Counter: Either way, Zane’s ninja training paid off. He’s skilled with a bunch of different weapons! Swords, flails, katanas, spears and everything in between. But none of these really...suited him.
Kaiya: Maybe due to his robotical analysis and reasoning skills, Zane, unlike the rest of the ninja who wield close-range weapons, prefers to wield shurikens and bows in combat, all long-range weapons.
Damien: Yep! Zane loves to attack from afar! Even able to do th-! Wha-Woah, what is that? Did he just make those shurikens disappear? He’s a magic robot too?
Hannah: He can even attach rope to his shurikens in order to grapple objects towards him, such as a map. He even previously had the golden Shurikens of Ice, able to put out flames and freeze enemies with ease.
Counter: He’s also a great shot with a bow. But his main strength comes in his ninja abilities. He’s mastered many different and ancient martial arts, like the almighty Spinjitzu! By spinning in a circle rapidly, he can create a vortex of ice around him! He taps into his inner balance to add more force and momentum into his blows! And the ice vortex is almost impenetrable!
Kaiya: How do the ninja not, like, vomit all the time?
Counter: Well, we do get a look at Spinjitzu from Zane’s view and it turns out he can actually see quite clearly.
Kaiya: ...Huh.
Damien: But he doesn’t just make a tornado with ice! He can manipulate the frosty element to his will, freezing opponents in seconds, creating large slides to control his friends’ or his own falls, create balls of ice to freeze people with, make slippery floors and even take to the skies with his very own Ice Cyclon-Do!
'Hannah: ...Airjitzu.
Damien: Cyclon-Do has a better ring to it.
Hannah: ...Eeeeither way, Airjitzu is an ancient martial art that allows the user to temporarily take flight! And when we say temporarily, we mean temporarily. Airjitzu can’t stick around for even 10 seconds.
Counter: But if that isn’t quite Zane’s thing, he can create an Elemental Shield, able to withstand atmospheric re-entry!
Kaiya: Doesn’t that make things really hot?
Counter: Well- Yeah. Maybe the ice is just...really, really cold?
Kaiya: Right..Well, cold or not, Zane has done some pretty incredible things! His Elemental Essence can freeze people in solid ice within seconds, and Zane himself can tank being frozen in ice!
Damien: He can use his elemental essence to create dragons, and has sparred with his fellow ninja, each of whom have survived a beating from Morro, who created a storm with his elemental power of wind!
Hannah: Which has been determined to be worth 7 Megatons of TNT. That is a lot of power. Since all these Ninja have been in sparring matches with one other, their power should be comparable.
Counter: And just so we know it’s not an outlier, Zane has survived a blast from all four Golden Weapons, which were able to create all of Ninjago! Zane’s even managed to defeat the Overlord, who fought an endless battle with the First Spinjitzu Master, who could wield all four weapons! Keep in mind, Zane defeating the Overlord was all done when Zane gave half his power source to P.I.X.A.L, and wasn’t in top form.
Kaiya: Hell, the co-creator for Ninjago, Tommy Andreason has stated multiple times that Lloyd Garmadon is only 20% stronger than the rest of the ninja, who scales to the Master of Airjitzu, Sensei Yang, illuminating the moon, a feat worth 574 gigatons of TNT! That’s like, a lot of TNT!
Damien: Potentially placing Zane and the rest of the ninja at power worth 459 Gigatons of TNT, explaining why the ninja were able to bounce back from Morro’s attack.
Hannah: But Zane isn’t just strong, he’s fast. Able to compete with Jay, the ninja of Lightning, who can create and manipulate real lightning, even once redirecting a lightning bolt from a storm.
Counter: And Nadhakan has reacted to what seems to be lasers. If they are anything close to real light, that is a reaction speed close to the speed of light.
Kaiya: How did these ninja get so goddamn strong?! But in any case, the ninja obviously aren’t unstoppable. They’ve had their shit kicked in plenty of times. Also, while Zane’s power source is versatile and long lasting, it has been overloaded before, and if his power source is overloaded, he will combust and explode.
Damien: And he sometimes has trouble getting in touch with his emotional side. Either way, Zane is an invaluable member of the ninja team, never backing down, no matter the cost. If you get in his way, be careful.
("You will not hurt my friends! There is nothing that will hold me back! I know who I am!")
Penny (Baka)[]
Hannah: Atlas, one of the standing beacons of hope in Remnant. Its technological advances put the other Kingdoms to shame.
Kai: And with tech that makes Elon Musk shit himself comes A WHOLE LOT OF FUTURISTIC SHIT. Robot Guards, Robot Surveillance Drones, A FUCKING SPIDER WHEELCHAIR! WHAT? This shit is why I wear my foil hat outside.
Counter: With such bright minds, Pietro Polendina was selected to come up with the next greatest advancement for Atlas. And... he did. By extracting part of his own Aura, aka his soul. He placed it into an android vessel and named it...
(Ruby: *crash trackle* PENNY!)
Damien: Penny, unlike other Atlas robots was alive. She had her on personality, her own mindset, her own freedom. Penny was human just like you and me... and not Kai.
Kai: Hey I'm only like 2% robot!
Counter: Should... I ask?
Kai: Well just like Atlas, I too was messing around with dangerous technology. And I accidentally sent half my left foot into the future.
Counter: I'm sorry? You made time travelling real?
Kai: Damn right I did! And it hit my son right in the face.
Hannah: You have a son?
Kai: Kinda... He’s from the future. He came to me and was like "Hey mum, you need to make that time machine. That fate of the future depends on it" and I was like "haha who are you get out of my house" y’know, normal Friday shenanigans, and then I beat him up with a fire extinguisher. Before committing more crimes I stopped, because only then I realised he was my future child.
Hannah: Isnt that... abusing your children?
Kai: Uhhhhhhhh, he’s not my child yet?
Counter: Moving on... Penny soon came to Vale, the other kingdom. Don’t worry it's only important for 3 seasons.
Damian: At Vale, Penny ran Into a young huntress, Ruby Rose. Unlike Penny, Ruby was normal... for the most part.
Hannah: The two quickly became friends and even joined forces to fight Roman Torchwick, notorious Gangsta-
Kai: And hottie, rawr~.
Hannah: In your pants please Kaiya.
Counter: In the fight they basically won, Penny is an incredible fighter, able to keep up with Huntsmen and Huntresses. She, as we just said, took down Torchwick, bested Cardin's team in a tournament, and is even capable of stopping a 2 ton truck dead in its path. She even fought against Beacon prodigy, Pyrrha Nikos. And probably would have won... or lived if it wasn’t for Emerald Sustrai interfering.
Kai: And that’s not even the best of it! She has a backpack full of blades attached by small strings that somehow are able to shoot lasers. As seen in Volume 8, Harriet just steals one of Penny's blades, meaning they're not controlled by her mind, but by small wiring. So small it makes Counter's self-esteem look like a kaiju!
Counter: Yo what-
Damian: She's able to bundle her lasers together to make a bigger, more effective laser. This laser is able to shred through a plane, slicing it in half in a second.
Counter: By doing some calculations. We determined Penny's lasers shoot at the equivalent of 0.01325 Tons of TNT. And firepower aside her strength is another thing.
Hannah: Penny is able to drag down a 282 ton plane from the skies, and even launch herself around with the strings on her Floating Array, that's the name of her backpack.
Damien: With her blades and strings she's like an Attack on Titan character!
Kai: I'm pretty sure they didn't have robots back then...
Counter: Well fitting, because like a titan she did get ripped apart-
Damien: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! MY GIRL!
Kai: Told you he doesn’t like real women, fucking weeb.
Hannah: Worry not young Damien- Young, Questionable Sanity Damien. Penny was rebuilt by her father Pietro.
Damien: MY GIRL LIVES!
Counter: With new abilities like Infrared Vision and thruster on her feet, she’s able to take to the skies like a hero. And that's kind of the role she played. She took the mantle of Guardian on Atlas... until she was framed for killing a room of civilians at a political event.
Kai:SEE COUNTER?! THATS WHY I DONT VOTE!
Hannah: With Penny not wanting to touch the spotlight after that fiasco, she didn’t take to the limelight for a while, working on the inside she learns about Fria, the Winter Maiden.
Counter: Maidens are women gifted with powers correlating to the Seasons. The Winter Maiden has more Ice-like abilities if you couldn't tell, and only 4 can exist at a time, similar to the Sirens in Borderlands.
Damien: Fria was too old to fight, so Ironwood had set Winter to be Winter. I mean Winter Schnee to be the Winter Maiden.
Counter: Seems like Fate, aye? Well can’t have something good happen without a bad thing happening.
Kai: And that was the case when the Fall Maiden and living Migraine, Cinder Fall, came busting through. She kicked some ass, took some names and even chewed some bubblegum.
Hannah: With so much going on as Fria was ready to give her powers away, Penny was the one who had to take the powers.
Damien: With these new powers she had a massive power buff. For starters she should be comparable to Raven Branwen, the Spring Maiden, who casually created a storm covering a mountain, and that gets clocked in at 516.06 Kilotons of TNT, and the two should have similar outputs, seeing how the maiden powers originate from the same magic granted by Ozma.
Hannah: She’s even capable of lifting the Amity Colosseum. Having the strength to do that means shes able to lift 1.59 kilotons!
Counter: She’s tagged Harriet Bree, who downscales slightly from Ruby. Ruby was capable of blocking bullets from Emerald who was only a few meters away. Meaning Ruby should be able to react at around Mach 18!
Kai: Penny's also traded blows with Cinder, who's capable of melting the floor of the Amity Colosseum, that right there should be 2.91 Kilotons of TNT, and Penny should have around similar durability. Hell, she even managed to break Cinder's aura with just the one blast!
Hannah: With all this, Penny's seemingly untouchable, but she can have her Aura broken or siphoned away, and the cold still hurts her even with her aura up.
Damien: She can also be hacked if someone gets hold of her Blades.
Counter: And when she was hacked, the gang used the staff of creation to give her a human body, meaning she will bleed if her aura’s gone. Like when Cinder siphoned her aura with the Grimm arm and kinda killed her. Now she’s human, or WAS. There was no recovery. Luckily for everyone, she managed to transfer the powers back to Winter. As it should have been.
Damien: 'There goes my girl... again...
Hannah: With all that, Penny was a great friend and the Guardian of Atlas for a reason.
Kai: Penny's time as Winter Maiden was short lived, and her time as a human even shorter, but to Miss Polendina, we say Salutations.
Intermission[]
Counter: Alright, the combatants are set! You guys ready?
Kaiya: Let's do it!
Damien: Heck yeah!
Hannah: Is there any doubt?
Counter: Then let's end this debate once and for all...in a Death Battle!
Death Battle[]
The city of Atlas, positioned high above the ground, and under attack. The flat island, the mountains, the businesses, all of it was being ravaged by mysterious monsters. Jet-black, skeletal monsters were ravaging the poor city. They looked as if they were made of smoke, as if you could reach your hand through them.
Fires raged throughout the city, unimpeded through residential areas, and slowly creeping up businesses. People ran outside, coughing, screaming with their faces coated in black soot. Their lives were crashing to the ground around them, alongside their possessions. These monsters were called the Grimm, and they were a force to be reckoned with. One man was being chased down by a Grimm, screaming for anyone.
As the monster gained on him, his foot caught on a stone and he crashed to the ground with a grunt. The smoky black monster was still barrelling towards them, letting out a roar that he didn’t think any animal would be able to replicate.
The monster reached him in a manner of seconds, bearing down upon him. They opened their mouth wide open, and the man’s mind slowed down and his eyes squeezed closed, realising this was its last few seconds left on Earth…
“Eat this!” A woman screeched, and the man felt the monster’s presence move away from him. Scrambling backwards, he opened his eyes and saw a woman with blonde hair and golden gauntlets firing an invisible force down the monster’s mouth, reducing it to mere smoke as it collapsed to the floor and disappeared.
The man didn’t stop to thank her and ran away, heart beating twice as fast as before. The monsters were experiencing resistance, but not much of it. Team RWBY, consisting of Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna and Yang Xiao Long were fighting off as many of them as they could, but even they were outnumbered. The robotic military deployed had turned on their creators, visor’s displaying a red hue as they fired their guns at anyone standing nearby.
But unbeknownst to them all, 6 new warriors entered the heart of the battlefield. Lloyd, Kai, Cole, Nya, Jay and a disguised robot known only as Zane had just arrived on Atlas, and they were taken aback by the destruction. They watched the smoky creatures attack the civilians, and they knew what they had to do. Lloyd pulled out his signature sword, Kai pulled out twin katanas, Cole drew his scythe, Jay brandished his nunchucks, Nya spun a spear around, and Zane’s shurikens glinted off the sunlight.
“Anyone order a little kick butt?” Cole called out to the monsters. The Grimm, alongside some people and very angry robots with guns, turned to the six of them. There was a beautiful moment where every combatant studied each other, each daring the other to attack. Simultaneously, the Grimm charged at him, the hacked military fired, and the robotic ninja dived to the side. Rolling between the legs of a Grimm, Zane jumped to his feet and twisted around, throwing his shurikens into the back of a Grimm, turning it into smoke.
He turned to his left, and his light blue eyes fell upon a girl. Green and black blades, spinning in a circle. Zane looked between this girl, his friends fighting the Grimm, and the robotic soldiers. The girl looked ready to throw the blades towards them all...and slowly, Zane began to put two-and-two together.
“No! Wait!” He shouted, but the girl threw her blades forwards. It spun like a saw blade through the air, slicing through the Grimm within an instant, but it didn’t stop there. It spun forwards towards the ninja, who turned in time to only block the attack with their weapons. The clang that ran out was deafening, and Zane watched his friends, his family, get thrown backwards with a grunt.
“Ooh, sorry! I’m sorry!” She called out to the ninja, bouncing on the balls of her feet. This girl was none other than the sen-sational Penny Polendina, who rushed forwards to correct her mistake. Well, she tried to, at least. Grunting, Zane ran forwards and intercepted the android, diving towards her and knocking her to the ground.
“Ouch!” She cried out, as Zane jumped to his feet.
“You will not hurt my friends! You will not hurt anyone!” Zane spat at her, spinning his shurikens in his hands menacingly.
“I was trying to help!” Penny replied, slowly getting to her feet. A shuriken flew towards her, bouncing off her synthetic arm with a ‘clang!’
Zane let out a gasp. “You...are a robot?” He looked back towards the street where his friends were slowly getting to their feet. He saw the robots, hacked, strewn across the ground, and when Zane looked back to Penny, his face was etched with determination.
“You are hacked!” He gasped, readying his weapon.
“What?”
“I sense you do not stand a chance.” He told the girl, putting his foot forwards. Penny gave the nindroid an oblivious smile, and readied her Floating Array, the green blades returning to her and spinning in a circle behind her back.
“I’m combat ready!”
FIGHT!
Grinning happily, Penny threw the buzzsaw of green blades towards the nindroid with a grunt, who took a step back in shock. Grunting, Zane dived to the side mere seconds before the spinning weapons reached him. But they stopped dead in mid-air, and with a swing of Penny’s arms, they all fired towards Zane.
He jumped to his feet and threw his shurikens at the Floating Array blades, jumping backwards quickly and running away, escaping to save his body from danger. The two shurikens were no match for the green and black blades, and with the clank of metal on metal, the blades fired the shurikens in a random direction. One shuriken flew straight into the ground and buried itself deep into the stone, and the other was thrown high into the air. Skidding to a halt, Zane turned.
The gleam of the shuriken might have blinded a human, but Zane was no human. He looked at the building next to him, his robotic eyes staring up at the construction, formulating a plan. With a yell, Zane ran again, but this time he ran towards the building, not away from it. Penny watched in surprise as the nindroid jumped into the wall of the building, planted his feet in the wall and pushed off, rising through the air, arm outstretched, hand opened wide.
Zane clasped his hand over the shuriken and turned through the air. His eyes fell on Penny, and with one fluid motion, threw the shuriken towards her, landed on the ground with a grunt, and rushed towards her. The shuriken whistled through the air as it found a place in the android’s forehead and bounced off.
The hit was more than enough to knock Penny off her feet and she let out a small grunt as the impact forced her backwards. Dizzied from the impact, Penny opened her eyes to see a ninja in white approach her quickly, jumping into the air with his foot outstretched. His foot clashed against the metallic torso of the Winter Maiden and sent her stumbling backwards. Stepping forwards, Zane buried a fist into the android’s head, knocking her to the floor.
“Gotcha!” Penny smirked. Befuddled, Zane turned to a ring of glowing swords spiralling towards him. Zane tried to step backwards, tried. He was stuck! He couldn’t move! The blades crashed into Zane’s front, knocking him onto his back instantly. His feet...frozen in ice! Penny jumped to her feet with a smile, her eyes glowing an eerie green.
Gasping, the nindroid looked down to the ice now keeping his feet in place. Grunting, he punched at the chunk of frozen water, shattering it instantly. He jumped backwards, only for Penny’s Floating Array to catch him in the chest, knocking him high into the air. Screaming, Zane rose higher and higher, as the green and black blades began to surround him.
“Salutations!” The blades closed in on the nindroid, who held out his arms with determination. The air around them seemed to cool before them, almost like something tangible. Team RWBY and the Ninja could almost feel their breath turning into mist inside their lungs. High in the air, Zane’s body was surrounded in a sphere of pure, cyan energy. The blades all shot towards him, at the command of their robotic leader, but no matter how hard Penny pressed them, they couldn’t puncture this cold shield.
“Ninja-GO!” Zane screamed, and the blue shield exploded in pure energy. The Floating Array fell to the ground around Penny. She looked at her blades, coated in...ice. Her eyes widened. Ice?!
She looked up towards the ninja, who was now descending towards her quickly. Her eyes glowed green as the ice around her blades seemed to melt under her gaze. She jumped backwards as Zane crashed to the ground, the liquid around them freezing in place. Zane rolled backwards and jumped to his feet.
“I sense that you are unfamiliar with this power. This is the martial art of Spinjitzu.” Zane informed her, almost mechanically. “Allow me to show you!” And with that, Zane started to spin in a circle. The frozen particles around the two of them flew towards the robot, coalescing around him. Tiny, frozen particles surrounded Zane and spun in a circle to follow him.
An icy blue tornado erupted between them in the blink of an eye, forcing Penny backwards.
“That is so cool!” Penny exclaimed, her blades spinning in a circle around her back. They rocketed towards the tornado, bouncing off the ice as if it were made of rubber. The tornado approached Penny slowly, the ground behind him freezing. The blades turned back on the tornado and fired towards it even faster than before.
But they bounced off it, much like before. Penny needed to have a more strategic approach. Her robotic eyes scanned every inch of this icy tornado. If it was made of ice...Penny’s eyes erupted in a green glow and she jumped backwards, holding out her hand with a determined look. Blue fire erupted out of her hand and rocketed toward the ninja.
“Huh?” Was all Penny heard as the fire sailed through the ice and blasted itself into Zane’s chest, knocking him off his feet. The tornado dissipated as fast as it appeared, leaving Zane open to Penny’s Floating Array. The blades quickly tore towards the nindroid as Penny flicked her arm. The twelve blades acted as one, as all of them united into one large slash, sending sparks erupting from the nindroid and blasting him down the street.
Penny didn’t give Zane a chance to recover, however, and formed her blades into a spinning ring in front of her body. Dizzied, Zane shakily got to his feet and watched as something built up inside the ring of the blades. Just as Zane was contemplating what this new technique could be, a massive and powerful green laser fired out from the ring of the blades.
Gasping, Zane pressed his foot up against the ground, channeling the power of Ice through his body. A wall of ice erupted from the road as the beam approached him. Laser and ice met and resulted in a bang that bounded down the street quickly. The ice protected Zane from lethal harm, but it was giving away fast. Groaning painfully, Zane replenished the ice wall whenever it was about to give, but he couldn’t keep this up.
His mechanical brain worked to its limit trying to find a way out of this situation. He needed to knock her weapon away to keep her from firing.
Yelling, Zane punched the ice, focusing the elemental energy through the floor, he sent a wave of ice under the ground, rushing towards Miss Polendina. Without the focus on the ice wall, the green laser slowly plowed through more and more of it. With one more yell, Zane forced the ice from under the asphalt. It erupted out of the ground in front of the Winter Maiden, taking her by surprise.
The ice smashed into her arms, pushing them to one side and redirecting the laser beam. Zane watched as Penny’s arms redirected the powerful laser away from Zane...and into a tall building, almost like a skyscraper. Both Zane and Penny watched, dumbstruck and horrified, as the beam cut through the first floor of the building like a hot knife through butter.
“Oh no!” They both screamed, as the building slowly leaned towards the street and toppled over, landing on the nindroid, with a terrible noise that rang throughout the entire city. A terrible, damaging noise that had everyone in the vicinity cover their ears in pain. Dust spewed out from the ground, coating Penny from head to toe and forcing her to cover her eyes.
“Ah! Switching to Heat Signature!” She cried out to no-one in particular. Her eyes scanned the rubble of the building, trying to find something. One sign of the robot she had been duelling…
But she found nothing. She fell to her knees in disbelief and buried her head in her hands, not noticing the rubble of the building slowly turning to ice before her. The ice crept across the rubble, spreading through the remnants of what was a building. Soon the building was transformed to a pure cold, frozen rubble.
Penny’s arms dropped to her side. As her eyes fell upon the frozen building, she scrambled to her feet suddenly.
“But I didn’t do that! Was it...him? Is he an...android?” She pondered. Penny took a step forward-
BOOM!
CRACK!
The ice exploded with such force that it blew Penny down the street, a thin layer of ice surrounding her body. It shattered into a billion pieces as she rolled across the street. Zane emerged from the rubble, surrounded by an icy tornado. The android simply sighed, as Zane jumped out of the tornado and landed on the asphalt.
Zane held out his arms, and with two small flashes of light, shurikens reappeared in his hands. With a yell, he threw one shuriken forwards and ran towards the android. His hood slipped off his head as his disguise faltered, damaged by the building. His skin wasn’t yellow...it was grey! He was a robot!
Penny jumped to the side to avoid the shuriken, the bladed weapon scraped against her arm. Relief flooded through her body as she sighed, turning back to the nindroid still charging towards her.
The blades constituting the Floating Array split into three small rings of four, spinning around so fast they became a blur. In the blink of an eye, three large lasers fired out of the blades, all of them aimed right for the nindroid, who dived to the side to avoid them. The lasers ripped up the road, spraying asphalt into the air. Another laser rocketed towards Zane, who took off running.
Zane threw the second shuriken, which sailed through the three rings of blades and crashed against Penny’s chest, knocking her backwards. Skidding to a halt, Zane turned on his heels and sprinted straight towards the android.
Shaking her head, Penny opened her eyes to see a white blur fly towards her. A fist from the robotic ninja flashed up towards the android, smashing into the underside of her chin and knocking her off her feet. In one fluid movement, Zane brought his fist back to his chest and released a barrage of punches onto the android. Fist after fist smashed into her body, fast enough to look like Zane had grown hundreds of new fists.
“I sense that you are outmatched.” He said with a smile, gripping onto the top of her head. He buried a knee into her stomach and threw her backwards with a grunt, his fists surrounded in pure elemental energy. Yelling, Penny threw her hands backwards, her blades catching Zane in the back and launching him towards her.
“Not yet!” She responded, throwing a mean uppercut, landing in Zane’s chest and throwing him high into the air. Groaning, Zane looked to the right, one eye open and in pain. The Floating Array coalesced into a ring and fired a laser into Zane’s side, blasting him through a building’s fourth-story window, shattering it into small pieces.
Penny brought the blades towards her and placed them back into her backpack, rushing towards the building Zane was blasted into. She rushed through the building and up the stairs, ice surrounding her hands. Her footsteps echoed through the building, as Zane slowly got to his feet, placing a hand to his head painfully. His left shoulder sparked dangerously.
“It seems my shoulder is damaged. I should be careful for my next conflict.” He told himself mechanically.
“Take that!” Came the voice of Penny, as she jumped up the stairs, firing a blast of pure ice towards Zane. Groaning with the pain in his shoulder, Zane responded with an ice blast of his own. The two beams of elemental energy collided in a shockwave that shook the building, freezing the furniture around them solid.
“You appear to be another Elemental Master. But how you control ice is beyond me.”
“Oh, that’s easy! I’m a Winter Maiden!”
“That does not seem to be in my databas-Agh!” His shoulder sparked once more. Thinking quickly, Zane jumped to the side, the beam of ice flying past his head dangerously. Grunting, the Ninja of Ice kicked a nearby chair towards the Winter Maiden.
“Huh?” The chair smashed into her shoulder with a crash, sending sparks flying from her shoulder. But she stood her ground, firing a blast of ice with her undamaged hand, catching Zane in the chest and throwing him out the window with a crash.
The chair clattered to the ground behind her and she fell to her knees, her shoulder also sparking, obviously damaged.
“Ow! I’m not combat ready anymore!”
“It appears you do not know of Airjitzu.” Came a familiar voice, echoing through the building. Penny got to her feet quickly, as Zane rose into view, levitating in the air and surrounded by a pale blue vortex. Zane threw a blast of ice inside the building, which turned the floor to ice within seconds.
“Hey!” Penny shouted indignantly, trying to keep her footing desperately. Zane jumped forwards and landed with a roll on the floor, jumping to his feet as if the ice wasn’t there.
“Wow, that’s neat!” Penny squealed, her shoulder sparking. Throwing her arms forwards, Penny launched a volley of blue flames towards the Ninja of Ice, who jumped backwards. Gasping, Zane tried to erect a wall of ice to save him, but it was to no avail. He was engulfed by the flames as he let out a yell.
Penny slowly walked towards Zane, placing one foot in front of the other as the flames kept pummeling the nindroid. She drew her arms backwards and the flames died down, leaving Zane pained and stunned. With a shout, Penny threw her arms forwards.
A strong gale of wind followed from Penny’s arms. The only thing Zane could compare it to was the strong winds from Morro, the Master of Wind. The winds pulled at Zane’s body, slowly dragging him towards the window he previously smashed through.
Penny thrust her arms forwards once more, screaming at nothing in particular. The wind came in stronger, lifting Zane up into the air and tossing him out the window like he was made of cardboard. Zane steadied himself and fought back a yell as he flew out the building. He crashed to the ground with a metal clang, eyes spinning.
“Hiyah!” Penny screamed, flying out of the window to meet him. A chunk of ice flew out of her hands, smashing into Zane’s face and sending him reeling, stumbling backwards. Landing on her feet, Penny sent a strong gale of wind towards the nindroid, who dug his feet into the ground to stop himself. The ground cracked beneath his feet, but he did not break form.
“This is fun!” The Winter Maiden called out, sending more chunks of ice towards Zane’s face. They all crashed into him, sparks flew from his body as the ice threw him backwards
“Enough!” Zane shouted, his eyes glowing blue. He would not lose...he had his friends behind him. He was not a machine to be broken. Seeing the android in front of him helped him realise this. He was...human on the inside. The blue glow from his eyes surrounded his body, and he held his arms out wide.
“I will not grant you permission to traverse beyond this point! I will not allow you to hurt my friends! I was built to protect them!” He was no longer messing about. Ice surrounded his body as the wind increased in intensity.
“Woah…” Penny whispered, struck dumb. She needed to end this quickly. Holding her arms out wide with her eyes glowing green, Penny used every last bit of her strength. The clouds gathered around them, darkening by the second. Lightning flashed above them, cracking down around them. Except this lightning was green.
“Let me through. Please.” Was all she could say, as thunder boomed around them. A storm seemed to obey her every move.
Zane’s body seemed to transform into pure ice, shurikens spinning in his hands, glowing yellow in the light, almost golden.
“Ninja never quit!” He told her, spinning in a circle wildly. The sheer force of the tornado that erupted around him threw pieces of the street into the air. Penny held her arms up high, eyes squeezed shut.
“Then this is...goodbye.” She said, throwing her arms towards Zane with a yell. Her Floating Arrays span towards the tornado of ice, as a green bolt of pure lightning cracked down upon him. They struck the tornado at the same time, as an explosion of blue erupted from the tornado, spreading down the street in a matter of seconds.
A column of pure Elemental Energy pierced through the clouds of the storm, as sunlight shone onto the battlefield. The street was encased in ice, and as the explosion crept up her body, Penny was too. Frozen solid.
The tornado exploded, firing the Floating Arrays back towards their owner. The blades slammed into her frozen body, slicing through it as if it were nothing but paper. Zane stopped spinning as the blades pierced through Penny’s frozen body.
Electricity seeped through the cracks of ice encasing Penny’s body, sparks squeezed itself free from her body, as a final shuriken flew through her head, shattering Penny Polendina into tiny pieces. The pieces scattered across the street, becoming one with the wind as the storm died down and her Floating Arrays fell to the ground with a dull thud.
Panting, Zane fell to one knee, his robotic body sparking, his energy source close to overloading. As he looked over to where Penny Polendina used to stand, he could only mutter one thing.
“...Sensational.” He collapsed to the ground with a huff as the last bit of his energy left his body.
K.O!
Conclusion[]
Kaiya: Woah, that was ice-cold!
Counter: Yeah, it was pretty cool. Both Zane and Penny put up a stellar fight and tested each other in many ways, but only one robotic warrior was strong enough to take this bout.
Damien: Penny’s Winter Maiden powers were insane, and would have definitely given Zane a run for his money! With her ice powers combined with other elemental powers such as fire, lightning and wind, she definitely had the leg up on Zane when it came to versatility. He could have easily been overwhelmed!
Hannah: Indeed. However, while Penny was more versatile than Zane, his experience with Morro and his fellow ninja meant that these types of powers were nothing he hadn’t seen before, and given his analytical mind he could definitely have made a plan to work around his disadvantages.
Kaiya: Not to mention, Zane’s training as a ninja and his many, many experiences with a variety of foes meant he was more disciplined and skilled. If it just came down to hand-to-hand or weapon combat, Zane had a huge leg-up.
Counter: So for Penny, this really came down to if she could hit Zane harder than he could hit her. Unfortunately for Penny...this wasn’t the case. Her Winter Maiden powers were insanely powerful and were comparable to the Spring Maiden, who created a storm worth about 516 kilotons of TNT. That’s impressive, but it wasn’t as impressive as Morro’s storm that Zane tanked, which was worth over 7 Megatons of TNT.
Damien: And that was without his powers. Other ninja’s elemental powers were able to shake mountains, lift chunks of cities into the sky, and shatter the Yin Blade, which drew upon the power of an eclipse worth over 400 gigatons of TNT!
Hannah: Which, for reference, is over 800,000x stronger than some of Penny’s best storm feats. Even without his powers, he was over 14x stronger.
Kaiya: But maybe she could just kill Zane before he could react, right? Well...not really. While Penny does scale to Ruby Rose, who blocked bullets at Mach 18. That’s pretty impressive, but Zane at his slowest is comparable to other Ninja like Jay, whose lightning should be comparable to the real thing given the powers come from the First Spinjitzu Master, who creates the continent of Ninjago. Lightning moves at over Mach 1000, way faster than Penny’s best feats!
Counter: Penny could potentially scale to Relativistic feats, but this is dubious at best. Most of them are either outliers or rely on aim-dodging, which is hardly reliable. Even so, Zane is comparable to Nya and has kept up with Nadakhan, both of whom have reacted to laser fire from Nindroids. And these lasers are totally the real thing, they move in a straight line, reflect off reflective materials and have a consistent speed.
Damien: Which could ensure Zane was faster. Based on our feats, Zane had better odds of winning even without his Elemental Powers.
Hamien: Both put up a stellar fight, but Penny Polendina was outdone by Zane’s elemental might, speed and rigorous ninja training. Penny may have been one in the strongest in her verse but nothing came close to what Zane could pull off.
Kaiya: A shame, really. All she needed was a couple more Pennies to buy her victory.
Counter: The winner is Zane.
