Yoshi Vs. Gooey is Season 1, Episode 16 of ThunderStar20's Death Battles, putting Yoshi from from Mario franchise against Gooey from the Kirby series.

Description[]

Mario Vs. Kirby! Two mountable allies of Nintendo heroes get ready for some crazy tongue slinging action!

Interlude[]

Metroid: Yoshi, the Loyal and Helpful Steed of Mario.

Thunder: And Gooey, the goofy yet friendly blob that's allies with Kirby!

Metroid: When it comes to adventures, it's always nice to have a steed on your side, or something that's willing to lend you a hand in general.

Thunder: Just that these two are mountable goofballs who happened to have tongue action going on! He's Metroid and I'm Thunder!

Metroid: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor and skills to find out who would win a Death Battle.

Yoshi eggs on DEATH BATTLE![]

Metroid: Long ago, in the peaceful island known as Yoshi's Island, the aptly named Yoshis lived in peace and tranquility, there island relatively known for being a relaxing location,

Thunder: At least until one day some dumb baby fell on one of their heads!

Metroid: It wasn't any other baby, though. This was Mario, many years ago. In a attempt to ensure that Bowser's reign would be unopposed in the future, Kamek attempted to kidnap the babies from the stork delivering them, but was only able to successfully grab Luigi.

Thunder: With these Yoshis having intense parental instincts, the Yoshis just stormed up to Bowser's Castle, kicked down every door and boss, and reunited the brothers....three times in fact, seriously that kid could not stay out of trouble.

Metroid: Well, most likely this was because Mario and Luigi were one of the seven star children, which are those who are destined for greatness, The others being Princess Peach, Donkey Kong. Wario, and even Bowser. Soon enough, the seventh was born; and this one....was the Yoshi we know of today.

BACKGROUND

Full Name: T. Yoshisaur Munchakoopas

Also known as the Omnivore of the Year

Height: Approximantely 5'9 in comparison to Mario

Likes: Food, Hanging with friends,

Dislikes: Negative stuff, Bowser

Thunder; When this Yoshi met up with Mario years later, they hit it off, and Yoshi was ready to help his mustached pal whip Bowser's ass over and over!

Metroid: And he certainly has a lot of ways to do so. Yoshi knows various kicking attacks, and has taken notes from his friends and can jump on opponents to attack. But nothing really comes close to his rather bizarre digestive system.

Thunder: Yeah, this Dino can eat about anything his long tongue catches! And if it's enemies, he can lay them into eggs that can be used as projectiles!

Metroid: And if he happens to eat something metallic, like a tennis trophy, Yoshi can lay metal eggs instead. In fact, his tongue can be used as a grappling hook to latch onto items, or even just as a whip for long distance strikes. And if he eats a GIANT enemy, he can lay the Eggdozer, a giant egg that can destroy anything in the path.

Thunder: If Yoshi doesn't feel like being a carnivore, he can use other stuff too. Eating fruits can allow him to spit out juice that turns foes into stationary platforms! But he can only just sprout wings and fly safely if he really wants. And if you try to hide, he has a good sense of smell so he'll find you pretty quick. And when he does he might crush ya with a ground pound!

Metroid: But, like any other Mario character, Yoshi has numerous power-ups that allow him to gain an edge over foes. With the infamous Mushroom he can grow in size, the Power Flower or Red Watermelons can allow him to breathe fire and the Turbo Tulip allows him to be launched as an egg at immense speeds.

Thunder: With the Blimp Fruit, Yoshi can inflate and float safely, Watermelons let him spit out rapid fire watermelon seeds, and the Starman can make him completely invincible for a short time frame, able to one-shot most enemies with a single touch.

Metroid: He also has special hats that allow him to change into Mario, Luigi, or Wario. With the Mario Cap, Yoshi gains balanced stats and the able to wall jump, and the Power Flower lets him inflate. With Luigi Cap, he can use Luigi's Scuttle Jump and the Power Flower turns him invisible. With the Wario Cap, he gains enhanced strength and the Power Flower turns him metal.

Thunder: WIth the Yoshi Star, Yoshi gets a giant speed boost! Even more so with a Dash Pepper, in fact he becomes so fast it's hard to control! With a Bulb Berry, Yoshi becomes a brihgt light, able to see in dark spaces, and with the Blimp Berry, he can inflate...again.

Metroid: He can also transform into different objects; such as a car that can stretch up to evade foes, or a Mole Tank that can dig through soft ground. As a Helicopter, Yoshi can fly or spit watermelon if he grabs one, as a train he can ride on drawn on train tracks and shrink, and as a Submarine he has better water combat, being able to fire torpedoes. And if push comes to shove, Yoshi can eat the Heart Fruit, which grants Yoshi Invincibility, unlimited eggs, and extended time on his Flutter Jump, or jump into the Go-Go Yoshi Mech and throw out powerful punches.

Thunder: And he's no slouch in terms of strength! Yoshi can shatter multiple kinds of stone, he can destroy building sized enemies, and hell, one Yoshi even defeated a Raven named Raphael by hitting it so hard he get launched into the stratosphere, then turned into a constellation!

Metroid: He should also be comparable to Mario, who has inflicted damage to Wario on various occasssions. Wario was able to tank an entire dimension collapsing without any damage. Mario's even found various characters empowered by a Grand Star, and a single Grand Star was able to reset the universe. Heck, King Boo’s crown was able to create a portal that was said to destabilize their dimension, and Luigi is able to tank magical attacks from it. So the fact Yoshi can exchange blows with them in various events should prove immense power. Heck, he's probably tougher, since in Super Mario Wonder, Yoahi can survive things Mario cannot.

Thunder: And with speed, Yoshi, once again scales to Mario, who can pilot Starship Mario! Which was able to cross hundreds of galaxies in moments in Super Mario Galaxy 2's World 5!

Metroid: Let's assume a lowball of 350 galaxies. The distance between the Milky Way and the Andromeda galaxy is 2.5 million light years. Considering Mario can go one end of this world to another, he'd have to react to about c. Extremely impressive speeds.

Thunder: And Yoshi is FASTER than Mario! Yeah, uh, Sonic, may wanna hand your title to this cute little dino.

Metorid: As long as Mario and Luigi need his aid, Yoshi will always be there, eggs and tongue at ready.

"Yoshi!"

Gooey licks up DEATH BATTLE![]

Metroid: In the depths of space, there is a planet called Planet Popstar. In it, there is the savior of the planet, Kirby!

Thunder: Who was on our show some time back. It...had interesting feedback.

Metroid: But along the puffball's many adventures. he made many allies, some former enemies.

Thunder: But then there's one that kinda stick out. Gooey!

BACKGROUND:

Species: Dark Matter

One of Kirby's many Dream Friends

A goober

Metroid: Not much is known about Gooey. He's Dark Matter, yes, but he doesn't have a backstory. It's not even known if he was about the initial invasion, just that he's friends with Kirby.

Thunder: So...that means we can just jump right into what he can do, right?

Metroid: Essentially...yes.

Thunder: Cool! Gooey's main attack pattern is to use his tongue. He can use it like a whip to lash at foes, or as a grapple to fling around and throw his foes.

Metroid: But if Gooey really wants to, he can eat his foes, granting him powers just like his friend, or spit them out as a star shaped projectile. And depending on the enemies, he has different powers, such as Needle, which lets him protrude spikes all over his body, or Spark, where he stands in place and emits electricity to anyone close.

Thunder: With Cutter, Gooey throws a yellow bladed boomerang, and with Cleaning, he... pulls out a broom. With Ice he can breathes streams of mist that freezes foes, and Parasol lets him float down safely, or use it as a way to fall slowly...or just whack foes hard.

Metroid: With Burning, Gooey can propel himself in flames, allowing him to damage foes in blazes. With Stone, he can alter his density, and crush anyone underneath him. He can also use Friend Hearts to gain allies to his side, and fight off foes with new allies. He can even turn into Mock Matter, a form with flight and star shaped projectiles. He can even shoot dark energy from his mouth, or in a four lasers in a x formation with Dark Laser Flare. He can also hide in a bag to...shield himself.

Thunder: And with the Star Allies Sparkler, Gooey can fly about, firing rapid fire projectiles! As for his stats, it's mainly scaling to Kirby. You know, the guy who defeated Void Termina! The guy who can wipe out all life.

Metroid: Originally, we deduced this to be eight times universe, or Low Multiversal. But, with Forgotten Land, we know another dimension in Kirby's multiverse, so it gets bumped to nine. And we have calculated Kirby's speed to be 8387548039870.238c, so Gooey should be the same. There's one flaw to Gooey...he's not exactly bright.

Thunder: Doesn't remember his name, apparently doesn't even know why he's there during the Void Termina gig, he's not exactly the brightest bulb in the bunch. But hey, he's still a reliable buddy to have, and Kirby definitely knows it!

"My name? Gooey? Maybe?"

Prelude[]

Metroid: Alright, the combatants are set, and we've run the data through all possibilities.

Thunder: It's time for a Death Battle!!!

Pre-FIght[]

All was well in the Island known as Yoshi's Island. The locals were enjoy the sunshine of the morning or just were happy to meet up with friends.

One such in particular was a Shy Guy that climbed up to the top of a cliff and laid back, enjoying the sight of the sun, and the birds flying across the skies.

Although, one of the birds seemed to be flying erratically....as if unable to control it's wings. But once it came closer, the Shy Guy began to realize one thing.

That was not a bird.

The object in question crashed into the Shy Guy, sending the poor thing flying (with a surprisingly deep pitched scream) as it flew around randomly. In truth, this was actually Gooey, a blue blob. Kirby's odd disappearance made many of Popstar look for him, and Gooey latched onto a Warp Star to check other planets.

Judging by the fact he was about to crash into the ground, near a mailbox and a tree, it wasn't going too well.

With a powerful crash, the area Gooey landed was reduced to rubble, the only thing left unscathed being the fruits. The moment Gooey got up, he saw them, and after a moment of silence, went in to have a snack.

Meanwhile, in the rubble, out came Yoshi, who was dazed from the impact. However, he would shake it off, and glanced around at his ruined home. Not only that, but someone was eating his fruit that was the one thing unscathed. With a annoyed grunt, Yoshi tapped the back of Gooey, who turned to face the dino....then promptly ate the rest of his fruit.

Yoshi, after a moment of shock, was extremely peeved. He picked Gooey up, and chucked him into a tree. However, Gooey was quick to recover and made his move, Yoshi blinking before leaping over a tackle.

Fight[]

(Try, Try Again - Mario & Luigi: Dream Team)

Yoshi was quick to dodge the tackle, yes, but Gooey quickly wrapped his tongue around Yoshi's leg. Caught, Yoshi was ragdolled around wildly, slammed into the ground over and over before being thrown away like a toy.

Yoshi landed headfirst into a tree, pulling himself out whole holding his head, dizzy. He, then, would shake it a bit before quickly catching a Goomba that happened to be walking by, swallowing it before laying an egg, then lobbing it at Gooey.

The blob of Dark Matter hit dead on, and Yoshi used the moment that it was stunned to jump forth and kick him directly.

Gooey was launched back from the blow, spinning around comically before he threw a Friend Heart at a nearby Shy Guy. Almost instantly, the Shy Guy went from reading a book to charging after Gooey to aid him.

Yoshi gave chase after the one who ate his food, but the Shy Guy got in the way and tried to headbutt Yoshi away. The dino slid underneath, then grabbed the Shy Guy with his tongue before throwing it towards Gooey.

Gooey caught his ally, then lashed at the dino with his tongue. Yoshi responded by doing the same, both tongues flying at one another...but, misfortune struck.

The tongues touched.

Feeling very grossed out, both ran off in search of a water source. Soon they came across a river, and began to wash their mouths out...just to fall in and get dragged with the current, the Shy Guy frantically giving chase.

Soon, Yoshi saw a transformation bubble in the water, and touched it, transforming into a Submarine. Turning to Gooey, he began to fire Torpedos.

The Dark Matter being actually began to try and dodge and weave, and leaped out of the water to find himself in a fruit patch. Looking around, he saw Yoshj leap out if the water himself, no longer a Submarine.

Yoshi glared towards his opponent and leaped forth, foot out to kick. Gooey, looking for an edge, stuck his tongue out to whatever he could take powers from.

And he grabbed a Spiny, and promptly ate it before it realized it's rather terrible fate, giving Gooey the Needle Ability. Protruding spikes, Yoshi's foot made contact, causing Yoshi to leap back, crying out in pain.

Quickly grunting, Yoshi stood his ground and reached his tongue out to a Dash Pepper nearby, and blasted forth towards Gooey. Before Gooey could react, he was pummeled around by various kicks all over. Yoshi then did the Flutter Jump to gain immense height, then did a ground pound to try and crush Gooey under him.

The Shy Guy, however, rushes in and punched Yoshi away. Yoshi would end up flying right into a watermelon, his head fully encased as the dino stumbled to his feet.

Gooey pulled out a Friend Heart again, and threw it at Yoshi. Then dino, however, ate the watermelon encasing his head, then began to spit out watermelon seeds at a rapid pace. The Friend Heart was knocked away...and landed on a Goomba who was affected, turning to Gooey's side.

Gooey then quickly ducked under the watermelon seeds, before sticking his tongue out for another thing he could use; luckily, a oh-so convenient Hothead just happened to be passing by, so Gooey swallowed it down, gaining the Spark power.

Yoshi went in again, but barely evaded the electric shock Gooey released, but got his tail bitten by the Goomba, making him yell, then was promptly hit by fist from the Shy Guy, who send Yoshi tumbling into a durian patch.

After a bit, Yoshi decided to take advantage, eating one and suddenly becoming Purple in color. His opponent's allies jumped in...but Yoshi spat out a stream of juice at them, making them turn into platforms that he jumped onto, then spat out the rest of the juice at Gooey.

Gooey blinked, then jumped over the juice stream. He kept jumping, much to Yoshi's surprise, before the Dark Matter discarded the Spark ability and latch his tongue out to a Thwomp that happened to be there.

Despite the size difference, the Thwomp was devoured whole. With this, Gooey earned the Stone Ability, and turned into a stone that began to crash down to Yoshi. The dino let out a yelp, before being promptly struck, the platform breaking and the ground coming closer.

Yoshi managed to recover quick, and pushed himself off before he was actually crushed. The dino looked about before spotting another a red watermelon.

Letting out a small cheer, Yoshi lashed his tongue out and ate the red fruit, and breathed fired at his adversary, engulfing the stone in flames.

But, Gooey just jumped out of the flames, eating a nearby fire Flower and gaining the Burning Ability, then blasted at Yoshi who had little time to react before he was struck and launched upwards. Gooey kept attacking, Yoshi getting launched higher and higher as Gooey kept striking.

At least, until Yoshi managed to grab a transformation bubble that had a Helicopter, turning into one. Gooey, seeing his opponent now flying, turned to a Shy Guy holding a spear and lashed his tongue out, gobbling him and gaining the Cutter ability.

Yoshi began to try and evade as Gooey began throwing blades up, but sadly didn't realize his opponent threw boomerang blades. Hit in the back, Yoshi spun out of control, getting hit by multiple until his transformation ended, causing him to fall with a yelp.

And sadly for him, Gooey had eaten....something offscreen, gaining him the Cleaning Ability, which allowed him to strike Yoshi with a broom, akin to baseball player with baseball. And just like a pro, Gooey scored a homerun, sending his target flying towards a nearby volcano.

Yoshi's iconic screamed echoed as he landed on the side of the volcano, dazed. Shaking his head, he can see Gooey coming from the distance, and looked to his side to see another Power Flower.

But instead, Yoshi pulled a hat of a old ally.

When Gooey arrived, he looked about to see no Yoshi. Assuming he ran off, Gooey turned around to continue his day. But, instead, he bumped into...Wario? In fact, Wario was metal! Gooey simply stated at the man...before suddenly being punched, splatting against the side of the volcano.

After a bit, Gooey popped back out, dizzy stars over his head, then leaped over another punch, swinging a tongue at Wario...then promptly saw him turn back into Yoshi who skidded back and glared at his foe. Pulling out a Heart fruit, Yoshi ate it, before sprouting wings and taking flight.

Gooey blinked, then turned into Mock Matter and flew after Yoshi. Now that both Fighters were airborne, they began to weave around while fighting. Yoshi threw rapid-fire eggs at Gooey, who flew around firing star shaped projectiles, the air being filled with attacks from both combatants.

Gooey then saw Yoshi closing the distance, and saw that Yoshi was aiming for a punch. When he got close, Gooey was quick to use the Dark Laser Flare attack, just as Gooey was struck by the fist; causing Yoshi to be launched down by Dark energy, and Gooey to be sent flying into the volcano.

Upon crashing to the ground, Yoshi grunted as he stood up, comical bandages on his body from the blows he got. He'd barely get a chance to recover, however, as Yoshi then saw a flash of light.

Gooey had activated the Star Allies Sparkler, and began raining firing energy shots down onto the field. Yoshi let out a terrified squeal as his eyes bugged out, before taking off, jumping away from each shot.

After a bit of running, Yoshi spotted something that made him begin to smile; the Go-Go Yoshi! Without hesitation, Yoshi jumped in, and began to to pilot it, making it charge towards Gooey.

Gooey opened fire once more, the projectiles against the island as the Go-Go Yoshi rushes through the attacks. The Mech stopped near Gooey, and attempted to punch the Star Allies Sparkler.

Gooey was quick to maneuver away, and kept firing at the Mech as Yoshi kept throwing punches after him, to no avail. Soon enough Gooey began to charge his next attack, prompting Yoshi to charge up the mech's next punch. Soon enough, Gooey unleashed fire as the mech's fist clashed with it, the clash briefly causing sparks to arise before causing a giant explosion!

Smoke covered the entire area, making it hard to see if anyone was truly okay. After a bit, Gooey fell out, a bit dazed, but otherwise, alive. He took a glance around, seeing pieces of the Go-Go Yoshi scattered everywhere. Gooey then began to hop away, now the winner.

...Until he heard something rolling his way, that is. Turning around, out of the smoke came a giant metal egg that steamrolled Gooey the second he saw it! Yoshi emerged from the smoke, chasing after the giant egg. When it finally shattered, Gooey was left in a disorientated state, with dizzy stars over his head and swirly eyes.

Seeing an opening at last, Yoshi leaped up and sent his tongue out. Wrapping around Gooey, the Dark Matter being was reeled in, now stuck in Yoshi's mouth. With a big swallow, Gooey went down into Yoshi's digestive tract, before being let out as a Egg.

Yoshi then picked up the egg, and cartoonishly revved up his arm like a engine, before throwing with all his might, the egg rocketing up into the sky, parting the clouds and soon reaching outer space.

Soon enough, the egg busted open with a giant flash of light...that from Earth, revealed to be a constellation in the shape of Gooey.

With his opponent now nothing but stars, Yoshi let out a cheer before flashing a piece sign to the camera, victory in hand.

Results[]

Thunder: Rest in piece, ya little goober...we'll all miss ya.

Metroid: This fight was in a odd area. Both definitely had the means to take the other out. For instance, Yoshi was immensely strong, scaling to characters such as Mario, who can defeat foes powered by items capable of destroying the universe.

Thunder: But, Gooey scales to Kirby, who can fight Void Termina, who can destroy all life! And that's nine universes since Kirby's multiverse is about that size! And considering he can survive blows from both, Gooey is nine times stronger and tougher!

Metroid: But ultimately, that's all Gooey had going for him. When it came to speed, Gooey was around 8387548039870.238c, which is extremely impressive. But, when compared to Yoshi, who can scale to reactions around 27,613,380,812,510,300c, Yoshi was three thousand times faster.

Thunder: And when it came to arsenals, Yoshi was way more loaded! Gooey had very little abilities to use, while Yoshi has a giant arsenal!

Metroid: But ultimately, there was one issue, how would Gooey die to Yoshi if the latter wasn't strong enough to damage him? Even with with giant speed advantage, Yoshi had no real way of finishing the fight.

Thunder: Well, not really. Ya see, Yoshi, has stuff like transmutation abilities. Just spraying juice onto Gooey could turn him into a platform, or he can just chuck him hard enough to turn into a constellation! And with the Starman, he could literally one tap and be invincible!

Metroid: Gooey did have another potential wincon; the Friend Hearts. If he hit Yoshi with one these, the dino would have been turned to his side, allowing Gooey to go for the kill to more willing Yoshi. But with the sheer difference in speed, Yoshi could easily evade such an attack.

Thunder: And really, Yoshi was way more experienced, Gooey's been on like two, three adventures...and Yoshi has an entire catalog of adventures! And heck, Gooey isn't really that smart. Dude sometimes forgets why he's even there, and even his own name! He'd probably forget he's in a fight, honestly.

Metroid: Gooey held immense strength, but it was all for naught against Yoshi's speed, arsenal, and transmutational power ups.

Thunder: Sadly, Gooey was not getting out of this overeasy....

Metroid: The winner is Yoshi.

Yoshi (Winner):

+ Faster

+ Bigger Arsenal

+ Far more experienced

+ Smarter

+ Transmuation power ups can seal the deal

- Weaker

- Less durable

- Could fall victim to a Friend Heart

Gooey (Loser):

+ Stronger

+ More Durable

+ Friend Hearts could seal the deal

- Slower

- Smaller Arsenal

- Far lass experienced

- Not very intelligent

- Transmutation can do him in
