Wolf Vs. Kano is Season 2, Episode 16 of ThunderStar20's Death Battles, pitting Wolf O'Donnell from Star Fox against Kano from Mortal Kombat.

Description[]

Mercenaries will do anything for money. But who between these two are more suited to the task?

Interlude[]

Thunder: Wolf Vs. Kano!

Metroid: The Leader of Star Wolf Vs. The Leader of the Black Dragon.

Thunder: He's Metroid and I'm Thunder!

Metroid: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor and skills to find out who would win a Death Battle.

Wolf can't let you do that![]

Metroid: Within the depths of space lies the Lylat System. In it, the technology is futuristic, dinosaurs roam, and everyone is a bipedal animal.

Thunder: Sounds like a furry's dream. But a furry may not last long, considering this place has many, many fighters.

Metroid: From fighting on land to piloting impressive spacecrafts. You may remember one of which we covered before; Fox McCloud.

Thunder: Buuuutttt every good fighter has a rival....usually. And in Fox's case, that's a wolf named....Wolf O'Donnell. Damn, Lylat had some unncreative parents.

BACKGROUND

Age: Late 30s to early 40s

Height: 1.83 SM

Weight: 73.02 SK

Occupation: Star Wolf Team Leader

Not fully evil, just wants money

Cannot fathom a somersault

Metroid: Wolf O'Donnell is ther leader of the Star Wolf mecenaries. Unlike the Star Fox team, Wolf's pack is...not morally driven.

Thunder: As long as he gets paid, he'll take any job. Which is exactly what happened when he agreed to take a job got Andross to attack the Cornerian forces!

Metroid: Having killed Fox's father James McCloud, he was more than willing to confront his offspring when Fox took the helm.

Thunder: He's got what you'd expect from the Star Fox cast. He's got the signature blaster which he can charge up, a Plasma cannon, laser gatling guns, homing rocket launchers and Demon Snipers Rifles!

Metroid: Wolf also has access to grenades, and Sensor Bombs that go off the second someone gets close, and Predator Missiles which are essentially the same, but used for vehicles.

Thunder: He's got some neat side gizmos too; Wolf has a stealth suit that turns him invisible and makes him undetectable on radars, a barrier that can block shots from Arwings, and even a Booster Pack which is basically a jetpack.

Metroid: All in all, Wolf does have a large arsenal, but when the war you're assisting in involves multiple planets, Wolf had to be able to fight in space. Henceforth, the Wolfen.

Thunder: Oh this ship is awesome! Dual lasers, Smart Bombs that obliterate nearly any other ship, barriers, BARREL ROLLS that defeeect projectiles and teach the wrong name, and Wolf has as special attack of his own, the Lightning Tornado!

Metroid: Which is just him ramming into target, throwing caution away. He also has access to the Landmaster, which is a giant tank with laser fire and jet boosters.

Thunder: But...Wolf ain't just a weaponry expert. He's a good strategist, and he's one hell of a tough motherfucker. He survived shots from those weapons he has, and the Arwings can be brought down with them!

Metroid: Keep in mind; the Arwings are incredibly durable. When Fox fought Andross when the scientists was empowered by the Krazoa Spirits, the ship has, in the game's words, "seen better days". And the Krazoa spirits prevented Dinosaur Planet from exploding and causing damage to the whole Lylat System.

Thunder: Arwings also survived a planet going boom, so not too farfetched, but enough hits to the G-Diffuser and it goes down. And heck, Wolf can survive a shot from the Demon Sniper; a HEADSHOT. You need to do it twice to put him down, and those things can shoot down Arwings in moments!

Metroid: And he'a fast enough to pilot his Wolfen through Dogfights that have lasers flying every which way. But, he's able to kill Fox. But, he did survive, taking control of the Sargasso Space Zone and becoming Lord Wolf. However, despite being the leader of space criminals, Wolf began to show a...different side.

Thunder: When Fox was in danger from a bunch of aliens known as the Apharoids, Wolf came in to help. While it seems Wolf only did this because he wants to kill Fox himself, Panther makes it obvious that he respects Fox. And, honestly he's not evil, just wanting cash.

Metroid: In fact, it's implied it's because of Pigma that Wolf became who he was. When he kicked Pigma off the team, he notably became...nicer, to say the least. Even fighting a terraforming another alien invader and clearing his name. Perhaps he's on the way to redeeming himself.

Thunder: Not sure about that, but no matter what, playtime's over when O'Donnell shows up. He's not just any mercenary, he's the one who'll put you down!

Kano rips out your heart![]

Metroid: Mortal Kombat. A tournament of the Elder Gods that will decide the fate of all realms. This can range from a washed up star looking for his big break, a God seeking to protect the realm...

Thunder: Or a a-hole from one of the most notorious and feared criminal minds; Kano.

Metroid: A mercenary of the leader of the Black Dragon, a Crime Cartel, Kano will go to the most disgusting degrees for money, with no claims either.

Thunder: Even willing joining Outworld to get the money he was promised for helping with Mortal Kombat!

BACKGROUND

Occupation: Leader of the Black Dragon Cartel

List of Crimes: We'd be here all day

Considered the most Vile and disgusting person in the MK Universe

Pees in public areas

Likes: Money, torturing Special Forces, being hated, White Castle Burgers, Bubblegum, Barbecue

Dislikes: Special Forces

Metroid: Being a fighter in the Mortal Kombat tournament, Kano obviously needed to be a good fighter to be able to keep up with the insanity of the warriors. And, despite being the Cartel leader, was actually a very skilled.

Thunder: He typically perfects to be a street brawlers, but he does know two Martial Arts; Xing Yi, and Akido. But despite being a Martial Artist, he's not actually one that likes to fight that way. He's uh, a scumbag.

Metroid: Kano is willing to use underhanded tactics to win fights; deception, hostages, surprise weapons, you name it. In fact, he tends to bring alot of weapons into the field. He's used Butterfly Knives, Elbow Blades, Boot Blades, Grenade, Molotov Cocktails and Flammable Chemicals.

Thunder: and a Cybentic Eye that fire lasers and scan the area to see where folks are hiding. But he ain't afraid to pull out guns like rocket launchers or gatling guns.

Metroid: He also has abilties like the Cannon Ball, an attack where he launches himself while curled up into a ball at the foe. He can go straight ahead, up, down, or even go everywhere in the field.

Thunder: And he really likes choking folks. No, really. Chokeslams, choking then stabbing, choking then dropping, choking then kneeing, he's really got good knowledge on choke combos. He can coat his hands in energy, or gain a power boost in general.

Metroid: Kano can strap bombs to his foes, use his cybernetics heart as a trap or to pull opponents closer, and of course, has several Fatalities to ensure his opponents die.

Thunder: He'll rip your heart, kidneys or lungs out, break your neck with a roundhouse, burn a hole through your head with his s laser eye, or even stab you in the neck with a glass bottle and dance with your dying corpse, Jesus this guy's a sadist...

Metroid: And the thing is, he loves it. Nearly everyone despises him, buy he wears that with pride. Public Urination, Murder, you name it, he's done it.

Thunder: And Kano has enough to back up his constant slaughters! He's constantly fighting against the Speical Forces Jax and Sonya! Those two can beat up Tremor, and that guy is said to capable of creating large Earthquakes that could topple down Outworld's capital city!

Metroid: Which would take 81 kilotons to 2.5 Megatons of TNT. And in terms of speed, Jax was able to keep up with Kabal, who moved in tandem with Kotal Kahn's light ray, which was calculated at 0.73c.

Thunder: And Kano can fight em no issue! But still, while Kano is powerful, he has his limits. In two timelines he died, one in a giant war, and one where he got shot through the head with a normal ass gun.

Metroid: Regardless, Kano's lack of morals a sheer joy at making other suffer put him a step above most. He'll ensure those who he is targeting will spend their last moments, in complete unbearable agony and fear.

Prelude[]

Metroid: Alright, the kombatants are set, and we've run the data through all possibilities.

Thunder: It's time for a Death Battle!

Pre-Fight[]

The streets city of Corneria was currently in a state of disarray and panic. An hour ago, a portal opened nearby, before numerous Outworld minions came through.

One such was Kano. The Black Dragon leader was spinning his knife in his hand, a few Outworld minions behind him.

“A few years ago, I would've called all these people here freaks. Eh, at least I could sell the fur off their hides when I'm done here.” Kano spoke, before pausing.

He suddenly quickly rolled, as a barrage of laser fire tore through the Outworlders who were with him, killing them instantly. Turning around, he saw the attacker; Wolf O'Donnell.

“Well, what do we have here…” Wolf spoke, before crossing his arms. “You know, I'm getting sick of other freaks trying to take over my turf. So here's a deal; you go back wherever you came from, and I'll let you leave without a hole in your head.”

“Sorry mate, but I got paid to make this place be easy for Shao Kahn to conquer. So why don't ya piss off?” Kano retorted, as Wolf held out blaster.

“Well then…your funeral.”

Fight[]

Opening fire on the cyborg, Wolf followed Kano's movements. He kept firing, but had to stop. Not due to ammo, but because his opponent suddenly threw a butterfly knife towards him.

Wolf did manage to dodge, but that left him open for Kano to close the distance and punch him across the face. Clutching his jaw, Wolf turned to Kano, just to get a knee to the gut that made him cough.

Seeing his opening, Kano unsheathed a Elbow Blade and went for the throat. Wolf was quick to notice, though, and ducked then kicked Kano back.

“Damn mutt…” Kano grunted. “Alright, you wanna laser fight? You got one!”

A laser blasted out of Kano's cybernetic eye, O'Donnell leaping over it before pulling his blaster out again, charging it before firing a charged shot that barreled towards Kano at high speeds.

The explosion engulfed Kano, Wolf landing with a smirk, before seeing Kano barreling at him as a cannonball.

“What the heck–” Wolf spoke, before being slammed into and landing flat on his back. Grunting, he tried to stand, just for Kano to stomp on his chest…with a boot blade.

A yell of pain came from Wolf, making Kano grin as he dug the blade deeper in. Wolf looked up, gritting his teeth before pulling Kano's leg out and twisting it, making Kano stumble back as the Star Wolf tried to stand up.

“Dirty trick…” Wolf grunted, clutching the bleeding wound.

“Hey, ya gotta do whatever ya can do win a fight.” Kano retorted.

“Fair enough…” Wolf spoke, before pulling out a Plasma Cannon and opening fire. The barrage of lasers forced Kano to take cover, before he took out a set of grenades and threw them over.

The lasers cut through each grenade, causing them to explode early…except for one that reached Wolf and knocked him back from the explosion that occurred. The canine managed to not fall over, but Kano took advantage of this.

He ran in, grabbing Wolf by the neck and choking him, making the leader of the Wolf Pack cough, while he was trying to pry Kano's hands off him.

Wolf reached for his Blaster, but Kano knocked it out of his hand. Shortly after, he headbutted Wolf with enough force to dislocate his jaw and send some blood into the air. He then threw him overhead, against the legs of a tall bridge where several citizens of Corneria were being held up by Outworld's forces.

Wolf growled, before noticing he had a bomb strapped to his chest. Not only that, but Kano was aiming a rocket launcher at him.

“Give my regards to the last guy I butchered, will ya?” Kano quipped before opening fire. Wolf didn't have time to get up, getting caught in a explosion that caused the bridge to collapse.

“Now let's see how you're doing, mutt…” Kano spoke, trying to see Wolf, but oddly…nothing. “Heh, didn't think it was that strong an explosion.”

But deep down, Kano knew something was off…and he would be right. Wolf equipped the Stealth Suit and snuck away after the explosion.

“That crazy little…did he really let even his own allies die?” Wolf muttered, clutching his wound as he quickly fixed his jaw and scaled one of the buildings. “Good thing I took some of that stuff from Star Fox's training simulator…”

Getting to the window of the building, Wolf pulled out a Demon Sniper Rifle and taking aim, planning to wipe out Kano with a headshot.

Thing is, Kano's eye spotted him, so his aim missed, Kano getting behind some rubble to avoid death. Every time Kano stepped out, he made it quick to get around, making it hard for Wolf to land a single shot.

“Aye, canine!” Kano yelled. “Taste some of this!” He pulled out a Molotov, and threw it to where Wolf was. Wolf was quick to leap out, but found himself being reeled in by Kano's cybernetic heart.

The canine let out a surprised noise, but took advantage of his situation. When close he used the butt of the rifle to hit Kano in the nose.

Using this as an advantage, Wolf quickly landed a hard punch to Kano's chest, cracking his ribs. Shortly after, he kicked him in the neck, breaking his teeth. Then as he flew up, Wolf jumped and kicked him down, cracking the front of Kano's skull from the impact.

Despite the immense pain he was in, Kano forced himself up, and grabbed Wolf's arm before twisting, snapping the bone slightly. He then stomped on Wolf's leg, the boot blade stabbing through. As Wolf stumbled back, Kano pulled him in, headbutting him several times, making his face bloody before he dropped Wolf to the floor.

Wolf groaned, holding his bloodied head, before noticing Kano picking a shard of glass and attempting to stab him in the neck. Wolf caught his arm, and began to wrestle with him to try and prevent meeting a gruesome end.

“When I'm done with ya, I'll make a taxidermy outta ya corpse.” Kano spoke, the piece of glass getting close to Wolf's neck.

“You talk big….but I'll be the one putting YOU down.” Wolf replied, before managing to push Kano off him and aiming for a kill move…but Kano quickly threw Flammable Materials at Wolf's face. With the wounds from the headbutt being touched, Wolf letting out a howl of agony.

Kano, seeing a perfect kill, charged his fist with energy and powered up. He charged forth, ready to punch Wolf's head to mush.

He did not, however, anticipate Wolf pulling out a grenade and throwing out the explosive out Kano, who ended up punching it. The giant explosion that went off knocked both back, both coughing up blood.

Wolf growled, looking to his left, then grinned at an item he saw. Kano on the other hand got up, seeing Wolf now standing, albeit hunched over from the pain he was in.

Letting out a laser the size of Wolf's head, the laser hit…but didn't do squat. It was, in fact, a barrier item that Wolf grabbed. Despite it all, Kano kept trying to overpower and destroy it.

He didn't get far, as Wolf slowly approached Kano, grabbed him by the face, and put a claw through his mechanical eye. As Kano yelled out in pain, Wolf spoke.

“Remember when you said you got to do whatever you can do win a fight? Then I think there's no complaints about this.”

Letting out a whistle, Wolf backflipped off Kano's body….and into his Wolfen that coming in hot. Kano, looking up, just spoke in annoyance.

“You gotta be fuckin’ jokin’...”

The ship, doing the Lighting Tornado, slammed into Kano, the ship's tip piercing through him. As it flew up, Wolf began unloading laser fire onto Kano, who yelled out as they slowly went into outer space.

Once they were above Corneria's atmosphere, the Wolfen did a barrel roll (not really) and split apart Kano in the process. Due to space, Kano's body began to freeze, his wheeze of pain being unheard. With that, Wolf hit the Smart Bomb launcher.

“Tell Pigma I sent you.”

The Bomb hit Kano, creating a giant explosion in space. When Wolf slowed down, he looked over to see that Kano was….uh, not there anymore. He was obliterated.

Slumping back into his seat, Wolf grunted “No one….attacks Star Wolf's turf.”

Results[]

Winner's Screen: Wolf radios in to his squad, who have cleared up the rest of Outworld.

Loser's Screen: The Black Dragon disbands from most of their forces being lost, much to the Special Forces' relief.

Thunder: Now that's a fatality! When's O'Donnell joining as a guest character?

Metroid: This fight was easy to figure out, but there were three categories; Stats, Skill, and Weaponry. Let's start with stats.

Thunder: No contest for Wolf! Kano could be comparable to City wrecking Earthquakes, Wolf can survive blows from Planet level weaponry and even greater! Kano's moved at relativistic speeds, Wolf can pilot ships going faster than light!

Metroid: So Wolf took stats, but not so much Skill. Kano actually has knowledge in two different martial arts, while Wolf never really fought outside his ship that often. It's unlikely he had NOTHING to do when combat became up close, but Kano has more skill to back up an up close battle.

Thunder: But let's talk about the more important factor, their weaponry! Kano does have cool weapons; knives, improvised tool, explosives, molotovs, the works. But uh, those things are kinda eh compared to the weapons Wolf has.

Metroid: Wolf has laser weaponry, far better than normal weapons Kano has. While the laser from the cybernetic eye is good, it's still something Wolf is used to evading.

Thunder: The eye's scanner wouldn't be able to track Wolf if he equips the stealth suit, and he has options to fly or shield himself! And that's not even counting the Wolfen!

Metroid: The Wolfen is just a nail in the coffin, Kano never dodged something as fast as it, and Wolf could just fly up and bomb the field if he needed to. Even if Kano hit it, the fact that, at minimal, Wolfens can survive planetary explosions meant Kano would do nothing to it. Hell he may just hurt himself.

Thunder: And here's a little kicker. Kano, in one timeline, died to a pistol to the head. Wolf can get headshotted by a LASER SNIPER RIFLE, and live if it only hit once. One of these guys was clearly tougher.

Metroid: Kano's skill made hima formidible opponent, but Wolf's strength, speed, and far surperior arsenal made this an easy job for O'Donnell.

Thunder: Eye think Kano should've packed it up and left. Oh well, he had a blast, at least.

  • a door opens, and something zips by*

Thunder: Oh hey, the boss is back!

Metroid: Why did he look to be in a rush?

'Thunder: I'll check.

  • Thunder walks offscreen, then slams the door and run*

Thunder: ANGRY MURDER DRONE LOCKDOWN THE PLACE!

Metroid: Oh shit-- Uh, the winner is Wolf O'Donnell! Where's the emergency doors switch....

Wolf O'Donnell (Winner):

+ Better Stats

+ Better Arsenal

- Not experienced as much in close quarters

Kano (Loser):

+ Better combat skill up close

- Outclassed in stats and weaponry
