Overwatch Vs. X-Men! Two physical beasts, yet scientists at heart battle it out! Who is the superior "brains meets brawn" super hero member?
Intro[]
(Cue Wiz and Boomstick)
Wiz: Brains vs brawn is a concept between intelligence in contrast to great physical strength. Many people usually pick one of the two.
Boomstick: But when you combine those two together you truly get something amazing.
Wiz: And these two characters represent that perfectly. Like Winston, the intelligent gorilla Overwatch agent.
Boomstick: And Beast, one of the founding members of the X-Men.
Wiz: He's Boomstick and I'm Wiz, and we are going to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win
Boomstick: In a Death Battle!
Winston[]
(Cue Overwatch Theme Remix)
Wiz: After Earth's United Nations formed the organization known as Overwatch, there were many different and unique members that joined from all over the world.
Boomstick: Like this gorilla from the moon named Winston.
Wiz: The Horizon Lunar Colony was located on the moon. It was built as the first step for humanity's renewed exploration of the vast outer space. The residents included scientists and animals like a hamster. However, it was mostly thrived with genetically enhanced apes that were experimented on to test the effects of prolonged habitation in space. Winston was very special compared to the other gorillas. He displayed fast and rapid brain development from the gene therapy.
Boomstick: He was then personally taken under the wing of Dr. Harold Winston- eh eh? See the connections. He taught Winston science and told him many inspiring stories of mankind.
Wiz: Though Winston's life would soon be thrown into chaos when all the other gorillas led an uprising. They killed all the human scientists on board and took control of the Horizon Lunar Colony for themselves.
Boomstick: Am I the only one getting Planet of the Apes vibes?
Wiz: Because of this crisis, Winston left the moon and traveled to earth by building his own spaceship. He also named himself after his beloved human caretaker, which of course would be Winston.
Boomstick: Personally, I would've gone with the name of Caesar bec-
Wiz: Because of Planet of The Apes?
Boomstick: Correct!
Wiz: On earth, Winston met and joined Overwatch. They were perfect for him, as they represented everything he had come to admire about humanity. With the other Overwatch Agents, Winston traveled around the world on a bunch of missions to protect earth from its forces of evil.
Boomstick: But nothing lasts forever as Overwatch would eventually fall. Many of its members retired, went into hiding, or were hunted down by Reaper's terrorist group. Meanwhile, Winston ate peanut butter and tested tech at Watchpoint: Gibraltar, longing for the days of heroism once more again.
Wiz: Winston has all the normal abilities of a gorilla, but they were enhanced due to the experiments. He has a genius level intellect and superhuman physical characteristics. His primary weapon is his Tesla Cannon. It can fire short-range electricity for as long as he is holding down the trigger. The Tesla Cannon is able to automatically target any enemies that are in close range. Even evasive people like Tracer or Genji have trouble avoiding being electrocuted.
Boomstick: He wears a jump pack that enables him to lunge high through the air, then do a "Hulk Smash!" on the ground to stagger and knock back enemies.
Wiz: He has barrier projector, which extends a bubble-shaped force field that absorbs damage until it's destroyed. Anyone inside will be protected and can return fire outside of the bubble.
Boomstick: Lastly, his strongest attack is his Primal Rage! If you manage to piss Winston off, like step on his glasses, then he will enter some sort of a berserker rage and embrace his animal nature. Primal Rage will increase Winston's strength, durability, speed, and allows him to use his jump pack much more often.
Wiz: Winston's tesla cannon is able to blow up robots and blast hovercars off their course. He has the strength to smash concrete floors apart with ease, throw Talon soldiers far distances, smash robots into pieces with a single slam, can tip a hovercar over with a casual slap, crush hovercars hard enough to fling the soldiers on it into the air, and throw robots hard enough to where they break apart other robots when they hit.
Boomstick: He's also surprisingly fast for his size. He's capable of reacting to and dodging bullets and lasers, dodging sound waves from Lucio, and shooting down even the fastest characters like Tracer and Genji.
Wiz: Winston wears heavy and protective body armor. He can shrug off bullets and lasers, and get up quite quickly after taking a punch from Doomfist that sends him flying and crashing into a building hard enough to make a big cloud of dust.
Boomtick: Doomfist by the way was stated to have the power to destroy buildings and has been able to defeat a squad of OR15s by himself. Oh! And Winston also defeated Doomfist afterwards!
Wiz: Winston has also taken several grenade explosions, survive a laser which was capable of blowing up a dropship, and was fine after jumping off a building.
Boomstick: As for his faults: He is relatively large; making him an easy target, his tesla cannon isn't suited for long range combat, he can be knocked out of his Primal Rage form if damaged enough, and his barrier projector is weak and even enemies can walk through.
Wiz: But if you ignore those faults. Then you basically have an unstoppable, enhanced gorilla that can only be put down if you have a jar of peanut butter.
Winston: "I'm not a monkey. I'm a scientist!"
Beast[]
(Cue X-Men The Animated Series Epic Theme)
Wiz: Hank McCoy was born with the special X-gene that gave him unusual giant hands and feet. You see his father, Norton McCoy, worked at a nuclear power plant where he was accidentally exposed to massive amounts of radiation. Norton turned out to be unharmed, but the radiation did affect his genes and as a result, mutated his son and classified him as a mutant.
Boomstick: Growing up, Hank kept his secret mutation hidden from all the way up to about college. He studied all types of sciences, and even excelling in sports like football. They nicknamed him the Magilla Gorilla.
The original X-Men
Wiz: It didn't last forever as once his secret of being a mutant was revealed, he was completely shunned from just about everyone he knew and kicked out of school. Hank felt depressed and alone, until he came across the man known as Professor Xaxier or just Professor X. Xaxier was interested in Hank's athletic abilities and intelligence, and decided it would be a great idea for Hank to join his own superhero team, The X-Men.
Boomstick: Other members including a guy with a cool visor that shoots lasers, a walking ice sculpture, an angel, and a girl who would later become one of the most overpowered mutants ever.
Wiz: Eventually going under the codename of "Beast". Hank underwent several progressive transformations which resulted in permanently giving him animalistic physical characteristics: Blue fur, simian and feline facial features, pointy ears, and sharp fangs and claws. Beast's physical strength and senses were also increased to higher levels.
Boomstick: Hmmm, he transformed from a guy with giant hands and feet to a blue furry animal man. Makes perfect sense.
Wiz: Beast has superhuman physical characteristics, a genius level intellect, a low healing factor that allows him to heal from bullet wounds almost instantaneously, has heightened senses, and is an exceptional acrobatic.
Boomstick: He also is pretty good in hand to hand combat for someone that hangs around in his lab for most of the time.
Wiz: Beast is usually shown using his sharp claws and his feet, which act as extra hands, in hand to hand combat. He also utilizes pressure point combat, which is pretty effective.
Boomstick: Beast has easily threw police cars, tear and lift trees out of the ground to use as clubs, flipped Juggernaut to the ground, broke through the hull of a Celestial ship, and propped up a tree made up of solid gold.
Wiz: He has caused a minor earthquake with a slam to the ground, punched out Frenzy who has toppled buildings, broke Silver Samurai's helmet, punched a guy through metal floor, and in a fight against Wolverine; he destroyed many of the X-Mansion's walls and doors.
Boomstick: He's fast enough to dodge electrical attacks, dodged gunfire from multiple guards, avoided Iron Man's missiles, moved fast enough to appear as a blur while dodging fire blasts, and dodged Wolverine's attacks.
Wiz: As for durability: Took a punch from Juggernaut, withstood some electrical attacks, took a punch from the Blob, got back onto his feet when punched by Frenzy, who we earlier stated could topple buildings, came back fine after being punched a far distance by Power man, and was even fine after being attacked by a Brood-infested Ghost Rider.
Boomstick: Damn, I really need to respect Beast more often.
Wiz: Beast would spend the rest of his life defending the world from evil, joining different superhero teams, and teach other mutants that their powers are not a curse, but a gift.
Beast: "You can take the hero out of the X-Men, but you can't take the X-Man out of the hero!"
DEATH BATTLE[]
Wolverine crashes hard through the wall of a furniture store.
Wolverine: Aw man...
He grunts as his wounds start to heal. Outside in the middle of some town, the X-Men have been trying to stop Jean Grey's rampage for several hours as she has lost control of her powers. Colossus tries to restrain Jean by wrapping his arms around her. However, she is too powerful so uses her telekinesis to throw Colossus off of her and towards Iceman, knocking both heroes unconscious.
Beast: Hold her still!
Jean starts to levitate away, but Nightcrawler grabs hold of her and teleports her back down to ground level. Iceman soon wakes up and quickly fires a blast of ice at Jean's legs. Beast then aims his advanced stun cannon at Jean.
Professor X: NOW HANK! NOW!
Beast charges up the weapon, and presses the trigger. A blue beam flies straight at Jean. Nightcrawler teleports out of the way, while the beam hits its target. Jean yells out before collapsing onto the ground. Cyclops then climbs out of some rubble and runs over.
Professor X: Hurry, we must take her back to the mansion.
All of a sudden a white dropship soars above the X-Men. It lands nearby and blows a heavy gust of wind towards the team. A few seconds later, a large door falls down. Winston, all geared up, exits the ship.
Iceman: Woah, that is one cool looking gorilla.
Kitty Pryde: Doesn't look like any normal gorilla I've ever seen.
Winston: That's because I'm a genetically enhanced gorilla. Also I'm a scientist.
Professor X closes his eyes and enters Winston's mind to search for some answers.
Professor X: Well Winston, I don't suppose you came here peacefully?
Winston: I'm sorry to say this, but your powerful friend right there...
Winston points a finger at Jean.
Winston: Is a high level threat that needs to be taken down... permanently.
Cyclops grits his teeth and his visor begins to glow bright red. Beast then holds up his hand, which calms Scott down.
Beast: You guys head back to base.
Professor X: And you?
Beast: Let me talk to him. Scientist to Scientist.
Winston and Beast look at one another, while the rest of the X-Men leave via the Blackbird.
Beast: There are other ways to settle this problem you know?
Winston: I'm sorry, but she could endanger the whole planet! And because you are protecting her you are now identified as an enemy as well!
Winston immediately fires his tesla cannon. Beast quickly reacts to it by blocking the blast using his stun cannon.
FIGHT![]
The electricity knocks Beast's device right out of his hands. Winston fires a second wave of electricity, but this time Beast dodges it. He then sprints at incredibly fast speeds towards the gorilla. Winston's eyes widen as he gets punched in the stomach hard enough to send him flying at the dropship. Winston shakes the dropship from his impact and falls face down onto the ground. He slowly gets up and adjusts his glasses.
Winston: I have a job to do!
Using his jump pack, Winston leaps high into the air and quickly descends towards Beast.
Beast: As do I!
Beast backflips out of a slam by Winston. He creates a small crater and a shockwave that briefly staggers Beast. Beast looks to his side to see a police car driving up. He cartwheels over and waves at the cop.
Beast: Excuse me sir! I need to borrow this.
The cop looks at some of the destruction in front of him. He easily gets the idea of what is happening.
Cop: Su-Sure!
The cop exits the vehicle and runs off. Beast closes one of his eyes and aims. He lifts and throws the police car towards Winston, who activates his barrier projector. The police car then bounces off of the shield.
Winston: I've never faced a mutant before, but I do have to say that mutants are quite extraordinary.
Beast: Why thank you.
Winston fires his tesla cannon, but Beast jumps over the attack. Beast passes through the shield and lands on Winston's back. He attempts to hop off, though Winston grabs hold of one of his legs and grins. He slams Hank hard into the ground. Winston lifts Beast by holding his leg.
Beast: Uhh, I don't suppose you'll let me go?
Winston: Nope. Not a chance.
Winston then repeatedly slams Beast again and again for several more times. Until, Beast throws a punch hard enough to break off some armor covering the gorilla's arm. Revealing an opening, Hank quickly strikes into the arm. Winston feels his arm become weak and unmovable.
Winston: Pressure points? Interesting!
With his arm paralyzed he drops the X-man. Hank lands on his hands, and begins kicking Winston in the face. Winston slaps Beast with his tesla cannon, which sends Beast flying towards the previous barrier projector. Beast stops himself from flying further by staking his claws into the concrete below him. He then rolls towards the barrier projector and turns it off.
Beast: Fascinating technology.
Beast quickly dodges a blast of electricity, and jumps behind a car as cover. He starts to tinker on Winston's circular device. Winston rushes towards the car and slams into it. However, Beast is able to jump right back over the car just in time. He lands right behind Winston. Winston turns around to shoot at him, but Beast reacts by kicking the cannon in a different direction. The kick messes up Winston's aim, and as a result he accidentally shoots and explodes someone's car. Winston then throws a punch but Beast catches it.
Beast: I'm quite stronger than I look.
Beast holds his ground as the concrete underneath his feet begins to crack and break apart. Meanwhile, Winston struggles to push his arm forward.
Winston: I, can, tell!
Winston swings Beast to his side. The furry mutant grabs hold of a street lamp and swings around it; his feet kick Winston in the face hard enough to knock him onto his back. Beast then walks forward.
Beast: Never mess with an X-ma-
CRACK!! Beast feels that he stepped on something. He lifts his foot up to see that he accidentally stepped and crushed Winston's glasses into pieces. Winston notices this. His facial expression become aggressive and mean looking. His eyes glow yellow, his skin turns red, and he gets up onto his hind legs. He starts to pound his chest with his fists.
Winston: NOW YOU'VE GOT ME MAD!!
Beast: Oh my stars and garters!
Winston has now transformed into his Primal Rage. He grabs Beast by the head, and slams him head first into the ground. Next, he pulls Beast out and throws him high into the air. Hank helplessly flails around, while Winston pursues by activating his jump pack. As he is flying towards Hank, Winston prepares to throw a powerful punch by spinning his arm around in a circular motion. Beast spots his attack, and dodges the punch all while kneeing Winston in the chin. He rolls down his angry opponent's back and climbs onto the jump pack.
Winston: GET OFF!
Beast: Oh calm down!
Using his claws, Beast scratches and slashes at the jump pack. It malfunctions and then deactivates.
Beast: OH MY STA-
Winston cuts Beast off with a smack to the face and a roar. The two heroes start to fall helplessly from the sky. Beast locks his arms and legs around Winston's hip and neck. Next, he forces Winston to face towards the ground, which is coming closer by the second.
Winston: RAARH!! NO!
At a far distance, the two heroes that now appear as dots crash hard down onto the surface. A big puff of dust erupts from the impact. Eventually, rising out of the crater is a blue furry hand. Beast grips onto the edge of the crater, and pulls himself out. He rolls onto his back tired and exhausted. All of a sudden, a large gorilla hand slams right next to him. Winston, who's Primal Rage has now been deactivated, is also injured and tired when he climbs out of the crater.
Winston: I won't let you get away with this!
Winston pulls himself closer to his opponent. He raises his arms to slam Hank into a bloody puddle.
Beast: We'll see about that.
Beast pulls out the barrier projector that he messed with earlier. He activates it and holographic signs spin around with "Fail" on it. Winston chuckles at the failed attempt. Then the device explodes with an impulsive force, launching Beast and Winston far meters away from each other. Beast slams into a car, meanwhile Winston flies towards a gas station.
Winston: Oh no...
Then the area explodes! Debris are hurled in every direction. Beast watches the explosion erupt at a distance. He starts to relax until a voice speaks to him in his head.
Professor X: Hank! Magneto has arrived, and is trying to kidnap Jean. We need you back immediately.
Beast: I'm on my way, but I don't know if I can get their on time-
Beast then spots the parked Overwatch dropship that Winston arrived in. He smiles.
Beast: Scratch that. I might be there faster than I thought.

Boomstick: HOLY MOLY! What a crazy fight!
Wiz: When comparing both fighters I'd say they are pretty equal in terms of intelligence. Though, Beast may have an advantage for the fact that he has used his intellect to solve problems that Winston has never even came across before (Creating a chemical to combat aliens like the Skrulls, researching a cure for the M-Day event, analyzing a world wide loss of mutant powers and deduces that the High Evolutionary is the cause, etc).
Boomstick: Winston has an advantage in wielding a bigger arsenal of weapons and gadgets: Barrier Projector, Tesla Cannon, and the jump pack. However, these wouldn't be enough to match Beast's superior strength, speed, and endurance.
Wiz: In strength Beast has shown capable of throwing cars and swinging trees around like clubs, which Winston could most likely also do.
Boomstick: But he has never lifted a tree made of solid gold!
Wiz: Winston has also never been shown strong enough to cause miniature earthquakes with his slams.
Boomstick: In speed, Beast has been fast enough to dodge gunfire, some electrical attacks, which is basically what Winston's primary weapons shoots out, and even appeared as a blur to some of his enemies.
Wiz: Meanwhile, Winston is shown to fail dodging some similar attacks.
Boomstick: Yup, he definitely gets outclassed here.
Wiz: The only way I can see Winston even winning is through his Primal Rage form, which increases his overall stats. It is also the form that allowed him to beat Doomfist, who is capable of destroying buildings. However, Beast has already faced and taken attacks by stronger beings like the the Juggernaut or the Blob.
Boomstick: You know the guy that can shatter mountains and the other guy who can send people flying through buildings with a single backhand! Oh and did I forget to mention that Beast can survive these attacks without barely any armor unlike Winston. Well, it looks like Beast just peeled the competition away!
Wiz: I hate you Boomstick...
Boomstick: Awwww thanks Wiz.
Wiz: The winner is Beast!
