History[]
Wally is a sickly boy who's never been able to be a trainer. However, after meeting the famed trainer from Littleroot Town, Brendan, Wally meets and captures his first Pokémon, Ralts, later to evolve into Gallade, and sets off to be the strongest trainer ever.
Idolizing Brendan, he wanted nothing more than to one day be stronger than him, even mastering Mega Evolution, though he never could ultimately win.
Though losing to Brendan over and over was incredibly frustrating for him, he never gave up hope and eventually learned to not need to identify himself as "Brendan's rival", but as his own person who can protect the Hoenn Region in his own way, such as when he was trained by Norman in the Sky Pillar before reawakening Rayquaza to put a stop to Groudon and Kyogre.
He was eventually recognized as an incredibly powerful trainer in his own right and was invited by Red and Blue to the Alola Region to take part in the Battle Tree.

Pokémon[]
As a Pokémon trainer, Wally has a team of Pokémon at his disposal to fight for him. He also has a Key Stone in his pendant, giving him access to Mega Evolution. However, he can only Mega Evolve one Pokémon per fight, and almost only Mega Evolves his Gallade.
Wally can only ever have up to six Pokémon with him at one time.
According the rules of the official Death Battle channel, Wally's Pokémon are allowed to have access to all of the moves they learn naturally, but are only allowed to have otherwise learned moves (e.g. moves learned via TMs, TRs, or move tutors) if Wally himself taught them to his Pokémon. For example, his Gallade is allowed to have Shadow Sneak and Rock Slide, but not Fire Punch or Hyper Beam.
Altaria[]
- Dragon-Flying Type
- Loves to sing
- Anyone who hears his singing is put into a dreamy, unfocused state, or even put to sleep altogether, though Wally himself is not immune
- Can buff himself with:
- Dragon Dance to increase strength and speed
- Cotton Guard to greatly increase defense
- Safeguard to protect himself from status effects
- Can shoot powerful dragon energy with:
- Dragon Pulse
- Dragon Breath (30% chance to paralyze opponent)
- Has other miscellaneous useful techniques:
- Moonblast is a powerful shot made of energy drawn from the moon
- Aerial Ace is a fast attack that is nigh undodgable
- Sky Attack is his most powerful attack, a tackle that takes a while to charge up and can't be cancelled once it starts.
- Dream Eater can be used only on sleeping opponents to read their minds to gain information, or to heal Altaria.
- Wally has an Altarianite, so he is capable of Mega Evolving
Weaknesses:
- Very weak to cold and ice attacks
- Can't fly if wet, though he can easily shake himself dry very quickly
Delcatty[]
- Normal Type
- Almost always happy
- Has a number of unavoidable attacks, e.g.
- Disarming Voice
- Faint Attack
- Has decently powerful slapping and tackling attacks
- Double Slap
- Wake-Up Slap
- Double Edge
- Play Rough
- Can put anyone who hears her Sing attack to sleep 60% of the time (Wally is not immune)
Weaknesses:
- Hates to fight
- Isn't particularly strong, fast, or the like
- Doesn't have access to very many useful moves
Roserade[]
- Grass-Poison Type
- Prides herself on her elegance
- This is generally just a facade, as she enjoys attacking right when you let your guard down
- Has a Bright Powder, making enemies occasionally miss due to glare.
- Body contains an incredibly potent, sweet-smelling, life-threatening poison secreted from the thorns on her body, flowers, and vines.
- Has thorny vines that grow from her flowers that can be used as venomous whips or controlled more dexterously.
- Her ability is Poison Point, meaning that physical contact with her results in a decent chance at being poisoned.
- Can heal herself with:
- Synthesis, a technique in which she absorbs sunlight to use as energy
- Leech Seed, a technique where she plants life-sapping seeds on the opponent
- Giga Drain, a powerful life-draining attack
- Has notably useful and versatile attacks:
- Petal Blizzard is a fairly powerful AOE attack with Flower Petals
- Poison Jab is a sharp poison-coated stab from a spike within one of her flowers
- Shadow Ball is a projectile made out of ghostly energy
- Magical Leaf is a homing attack in which sharp leaves lock onto a foe and chase them down
- Toxic is a technique in which the foe is poisoned with a poison that gets stronger over time
- Assuming the enemy is not immune to being poisoned, the use of this attack guarantees that the foe is poisoned in this way. The attack can never miss or be avoided under any circumstances.
Weaknesses:
- Physically frail
- Struggles greatly against plantlike foes, or those immune to poison
Magnezone[]
- Electric-Steel Type
- Is not technically "alive", but still needs to eat and drink to survive, has emotions, and can reproduce
- Doesn't actually fly - it can use its powerful magnetism to become unaffected by gravity
- Has an Air Balloon, allowing it to be immune to earth-based attacks until it takes a hit
- Has the Sturdy ability, guaranteeing that it will always take two or more hits to go down
- Technical Fighter:
- Lowers the opponent's defense with Screech
- Paralyzes the opponent with Thunder Wave
- Can sometimes either paralyze, burn, or freeze the opponent with Tri Attack, in addition to dealing damage
- Charge Beam is a weak electric attack that increases its non-physical attack power 50% of the time
- Can partially protect itself with Light Screen and Reflect
- While their depictions change from medium to medium, some saying that these moves are like an armour that protects the user and its allies, and some saying that they're like a protective wall of light, it's safer to assume the latter since it's what the most modern media depict
- Light Screen and Reflect defend against non-physical and physical attacks, respectively
- Also has more conventional attacks:
- Discharge is an AOE burst of electricity attacking everything and everyone around it
- Flash Cannon is a blast of light
- Zap Cannon is a very powerful yet very inaccurate attack that paralyzes the opponent if it hits
- Mirror Coat absorbs energy from an opponent's most recent non-physical attack and attacks back with exactly double the damage
- Does not protect it from taking the damage in the first place
- Thunder is a powerful yet inaccurate bolt of lightning summoned from the sky
Weaknesses:
- Is quite slow
- Is very vulnerable to earth-based attacks once its balloon pops
Talonflame[]
- Fire-Flying Type
- Can fly at a top speed of 500 km/h (310 mph)
- Has the Gale Wings ability, meaning his Flying-type attacks become incredibly fast if he hasn't taken any damage
- His feathers are completely fireproof
- Can boost the speed of Wally's Pokémon for a short while with Tailwind
- Steel Wing is an attack in which he hardens his wings, making them comparable to blades, and then strikes the opponent with them
- Flare Blitz and Brave Bird are both incredibly powerful flying tackles that hurt him to use
- Flame Charge is a weak flaming tackle that makes him faster after each use
- Feint is a guard break, though it doesn't do very much damage
Weaknesses:
- Though he's very fast, he's fairly average in strength
- Doesn't take hits well
- Very weak to rock-based attacks
- Doesn't have much battle experience
Azumarill[]
- Water-Fairy Type
- Has incredibly astute hearing, almost comparable to echolocation
- Is slow on land but is a very skilled swimmer
- Has excellent defense and stamina
- Has the Huge Power ability, making its physical strength twice as high
- Is wearing an Assault Vest, boosting its defense against non-physical attacks
- Play Rough is a powerful assault on the enemy
- Aqua Jet is a weak but very fast tackle while cloaked in water
- Aqua Tail is a powerful tail slap that also hits the opponent with water
- Iron Tail is a technique in which his tail is hardened to the degree of steel and then hits the opponent
- Very strong, but somewhat inaccurate
- Rain Dance makes it rain, boosting the power of his Water-type moves and making fire-based attacks weaker
- Aqua Ring slowly heals him over time
Weaknesses:
- Not very powerful aside from the boost from Huge Power
- Is very slow
- Doesn't have much battle experience
Garchomp[]
- Dragon-Ground Type
- Can suprisingly fly at the speed of sound (1225 km/h or 761 mph)
- Has very sharp scales, making it dangerous to fight her head-on
- Wally has Garchompite, so she can Mega Evolve
- Is Wally's strongest Pokémon despite her rarely being used
- Mega Altaria and Mega Gallade is more powerful than she is in base form, but her Mega form is stronger than either of them
- Can travel through the ground with ease, as if swimming, useful for surprise attacks
- Sandstorm causes a sandstorm to occur
- She is immune to the effects of it, but Wally's other Pokémon aren't, save for Magnezone
- Crunch and Fire Fang are strong biting attacks, the latter with flaming teeth
- Earthquake causes an earthquake
- Dragon Claw is a powerful claw attack
- Stone Edge is an especially powerful yet slow-to-start-up attack in which she causes large, sharp rocks to jut up from the ground and stab the opponent
- Sand Tomb traps the opponent in a sandy tornado, severely limiting their mobility
Weaknesses:
- Very weak to cold and ice attacks
- Doesn't have much battle experience
Mega form-specific weaknesses:
- Slower than the base form
- Scales are no longer sharp
- Can no longer fly
- Enters a state of difficult-to-control rage
- Mega Evolving causes her a great deal of pain
Gallade[]
- Psychic-Fighting Type
- Wally's signature Pokemon
- Is incredibly skilled at fighting
- Has swords that extend from his elbows
- Can teleport
- Can heal himself with Life Dew and Draining Kiss, though neither is particularly effective at doing so
- Can defend itself with Protect
- Can create illusory copies of itself for evasion purposes with Double Team
- Future Sight makes a psychic attack assault a predetermined spot of his choosing a fair amount of time after using it
- Rock Slide causes rocks to fall on the opponent
- Shadow Sneak is a weak yet blindingly fast strike in which he sinks into a shadow and then reemerges from another one to attack
- Magical Leaf is a homing attack in which sharp leaves lock onto a foe and chase them down
- Disarming Voice is a sound-based attack that, while weak, never misses
- Lucky Chant allows him to hit opponents' pressure points more often
- Has a number of different sword techniques:
- Slash is a basic cutting attack
- Night Slash is a cutting attack that involves faking out the opponent and surprising them with a hit
- Fury Cutter is weak, but gets stronger the more times it's used consecutively
- Leaf Blade is an attack with a blade-like plant
- It is unknown how he uses this attack, just that he can
- X-Scissor is a cutting attack with both blades
- Psycho Cut is a cutting attack with his blades shrouded in psychic energy for both protection and extra power
- Can be launched from his arms in a sword beam-like fashion
- Swords Dance makes him stronger
- Close Combat is his most powerful attack, a flurry of punches and kicks that lowers his capability to take hits after use
Weaknesses:
- Not good at taking physical attacks
- Still a mortal child and isn't a fighter
- His telekinetic abilities are very weak
- Wally likes to Mega Evolve him far more often than his other Pokémon, even when they might be better suited for a given situation
- Mega Garchomp is much stronger than Mega Gallade, but Wally would still prefer to Mega Evolve Gallade
