Vlad Plasmius vs Reaper

By DuelMark

Description[]

Danny Phantom vs Overwatch! Which of these two ghostly, vengeance seeking villains has what it takes to come out alive?

Interlude[]

Boostick: Ghosts are pretty damn spooky, aren't they Wiz?

Wiz: They sure are, Boomstick. But what happens when a living person hellbent on hurting you has these powers?

Boomstick: ... that would be... pretty frickin' terrifying.

Wiz: Vlad Plasmius, the archenemy of Danny Phantom.

Boomstick: And Reaper, Talon's top agent who opposes Overwatch! He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick!

Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor and skills to see who would win... a DEATH BATTLE!

Vlad Plasmius PHASES into Death Battle[]

Wiz: Vlad Masters, one of the wealthiest billionaires on the planet.

Boomstick: And a massive Packers fanboy too. Think he loved that MST3K episode on the giant spiders?

Wiz: But he didn’t start that way. He went to college with two people: Jack Fenton and the woman they both loved, Maddie.

Boomstick: This sounds suspiciously like the backstory they sometimes use for Shredder…

Wiz: Well, nobody dies… except for Vlad’s social life when Jack accidentally turned on the Ghost Portal prototype and gave Vlad serious ecto-acne.

Boomstick: DAMN! Better buy some Proactive there, Vlad!

Wiz: This isn’t the usual acne though; this one also had a side effect of infusing Vlad’s DNA with ecto-energy.

Boomstick: Meaning… Ghost Powers!

Real Name: Vlad Masters

Age: 40’s

Occupation: Billionaire, Mayor of Amity Park

Species: Halfa

Other aliases: Fruitloop, Cheesehead, Wisconsin Ghost

Interests: Killing Jack Fenton, stealing Maddie, collecting Packers memorabilia

Shouts in snack names instead of swearing

Archenemy of Danny Phantom

Wiz: He then began using his powers for personal gain. He committed invisible robberies, overshadowed billionaires, adding to his fortune.

Boomstick: WHOA! Did he overshadow Bill Gates?! So… in Danny Phantom’s world, is he responsible for the red ring of death for Xbox 360? Because that’s just evil…

Wiz: He would become known as the supernatural supervillain… Vlad Plasmius!

Boomstick: Which is less obvious than Danny FENTON going by Danny PHANTOM.

(Note: Vlad's original name was to be Vlad Plasma and he was to be a vampire. Nickelodeon said no.)

Wiz: But these fortunes would mean nothing to Vlad, compared to getting the woman he thinks he deserves. And when he found out Jack Fenton accidentally turned his own son into a halfa like himself., Vlad sought to make Danny his apprentice.

Boomstick: Danny didn’t hesitate to say no.

Wiz: From then on, Vlad would face Danny Phantom in his plots to kill Jack Fenton, steal Maddie… and rule the world too.

Boomstick: Because when you’re a bitter dick, you want everything…

Wiz: With 20 years of experience, Vlad has almost of Danny’s powers and has mastered them.

Boomstick: Right, almost. He doesn’t have Danny’s wail or ice powers.

Wiz: Nor his ghost sense, from the looks of it. But he did create a holographic assistant based on Danny's mom... also he has a cat named after her, a stuffed doll of her and photos of her on his laptop.

Boomstick: And people think I'VE got issues letting it go...

Powers:

  • Duplication
  • Ecto-Energy
    • Ghost Rays
    • Ghost Shield
    • Ghost Stinger
    • Light Projection
    • Energy Constructs
  • Telekinesis
  • Flight
  • Invisibility
  • Intangibility
  • Overshadowing

Wiz: Still, Vlad has proven to be far more powerful than Danny at the start, and makes good use of his powers.

Boomstick: He’s got ghost lasers, invisibility, flight, intangibility and all that!

Wiz: He can create energy constructs like swords and giant fly swatters, not mention break through solid concrete, and use the Ghost Stinger to shock his enemies.

Boomstick: But he's lacking in a Ghostly Wail, ice powers, or an ability to sense ghosts, which gives Danny some advantages while trying to master Vlad's.

Wiz: His most used power is duplication. A power Danny still has trouble with, Vlad has been known to take advantage of this, appearing in two places at once if needed, though it seems the more he uses, the weaker he gets.

Boomstick: He also, for some reason, decided to go around looking like Dracula…

Wiz: Well, Dracula's real name was Vlad.

Boomstick: Mind... blown.

Wiz: He’s not just stronger, he’s also smarter too.

Skills:

  • Master manipulator
  • Scientific expertise
  • Skilled in hand-to-hand and weapons

Boomstick: Dude is smart enough to not only make ghost weapons for a pissed off girl to use, he’s smart enough to clone Danny like 5 times.

(Note: Technically, Vlad had likely made other clones, the ones we saw were just the ones that survived, with Danielle being the sole survivor.)

Wiz: He’s also an expert at getting to know his foe overtime and figure out great ways to mess with them. And it only got even more personal when Vlad decided to run for mayor, making Danny’s life much more stressful.

Boomstick: And Vlad’s power makes him stressful, don’t it?

Wiz: It’s important to note Vlad is one of the few characters Danny has consistent difficulty with in battle. We’ve seen Danny before and what his feats include.

Boomstick: Danny lifted a school bus with ease, that’s 30 tons at most right there, and he outflew a space shuttle brought life.

Wiz: Space shuttles can fly at speeds of 17,500 mph. Danny has also destroyed a mini-golf course, using 550 tons of TNT.

Boomstick: And Vlad overpowers this kid constantly.

Wiz: Sure, Vlad has never been shown to fly that fast, but his battles with Danny show he’s definitely capable of facing an opponent like this. And since the ghost rays are comparable to light, Vlad definitely has the reaction speed to deal with them.

Boomstick: Speaking of dealing, Vlad likes to make a few of them, all to get himself more power.

Wiz: He’s recruited a ghost hating girl into being his pawn, worked with other evil ghosts like Skulker and the Fright Knight.

Feats

  • Battles with Danny Phantom
  • Uppercut the Behemoth several feet in the air
  • Survived being eaten by said monster
  • Survived blasts by Pariah Dark
  • Survived an admittedly weakened Danny’s Ghostly Wail
  • Defeated a group of Yeti ghosts offscreen
  • Survived being kicked through a series of pillars
  • Purportedly survived being hit by the Disasteroid, which is made of an anti-ghost element

Boomstick: He's even manipulated Danny into doing his dirty work, like dealing Pariah Dark and Vortex.

Wiz: And being the head of his own company means he’s got plenty of resources and devices he can use to his blackened heart’s content against his foes.

Boomstick: Hell, if he wanted, he could just beat them up. Like when he fought the giant, four-armed Behemoth, energizing his fist to punch it higher into the air.

Wiz: Now, we don’t know the exact weight of this creature, so we scaled it to the closest thing, a blue whale, which weigh at 200 tons. Vlad himself appears to be about 6 feet, so by flattening this creature, it appears to 84 feet in length over all.

Boomstick: And he punched this Goro-Gorilla-Snake thing like more than twice its length into the air in like 2 seconds.

Wiz: Assuming the Behemoth is indeed around 200 tons, lifting it that high in such a quick amount of time would likely require 2,765,000 Newtons, 310 tons of force!

(Note: It should be noted that although the Behemoth is a creature of ectoplasm, it's never clarified if this means the ghosts weigh any differently than non-ghost creatures)

Boomstick: Damn, that’s a lot. It’s a surprise this guy hasn’t conquered the world.

Wiz: Well, despite his power, skill and intellect, Vlad has a few weaknesses.

Boomstick: One of them is that hair. What the hell was he thinking when he gave himself that look?!

Wiz: Well... there's that... and there's also his pride and overconfidence.

Boomstick: Yeah, he’s cocky. It’s gotten his ass in trouble a lot. He’s uncompromising, he wants Danny to be his son so bad that he outright rejected a little girl version of him.

Wiz: Despite being Danny’s superior in power, Vlad has still lost fights due to Danny’s clever thinking and more creative use of powers, especially those Vlad himself doesn’t have. Keep in mind that while Vlad does have 20 years of experience, it’s implied he didn’t spend most of that time fighting ghosts. Unlike Danny, he simply used them to make more money. The fact that Danny still manages to hurt the guy the despite his years of experience and powers says something.

Boomstick: Hell, he even lost a fight to Jack Fenton, who doesn't even have superpowers.

Wiz: It's this overconfidence and arrogance that led to Vlad's in canon defeat, getting an asteroid made of what is basically kryptonite for ghosts and learning too late it's something he can't touch.

Boomstick: ... so... that thing hit him? Is he like... dead?

Wiz: Maybe he's alive? I don't know... still though, Vlad has proven time and again he's a persistent, dangerous foe who will stop at nothing to get the love he thinks he deserves... and also the world and like 500 billion dollars. Truly, he's more than deserving his role as Danny Phantom's archenemy.

Vlad: Oh, you've got to be kidding me? I get to waste you in your own home? (Laughs evilly) This is the greatest day of my life! (Breaks free from Jack Fenton's line)

Reaper STEPS into Death Battle[]

Wiz: Overwatch! The world's top agents, superheroes of all shapes and sizes.

Boomstick: From Winston, the super intelligent gorilla, to Tracer, the spunky agent with a nice a-

Wiz: Boomstick... she's a lesbian. She won't call you.

Boomstick: I'm allowed to respect her choice in partner and still think she has a good figure!

Wiz: In any case... in a world of amazing superheroes, you'd need supervillains.

Boomstick: And few, if any, come close to the masked gunslinging madman known as... Reaper.

Wiz: But few people know what the man behind the mask was once a man very close to Overwatch. In fact, Gabriel Reyes was one of the founding members.

Real Name: Gabriel Reyes

Age: 58

Ethnicity: Hispanic

Former Alias: Soldier 24.

Current Leading Member of Talon

Former Member of Overwatch

Former Mentor of McCree

MASSIVE Edgelord

Archenemy of Soldier 76

Boomstick: Years before Overwatch was even a thing, Reyes was a senior military officer from Los Angeles who signed up for the Soldier Enhancement Program. Because you can't have a world of superheroes without trying to make your own Captain America. Lemme guess, it went wrong?

Wiz: Nope. Reyes actually went through pretty well. He became Soldier 24, as well as becoming friends with Jack Morrison, Soldier 76.

Boostick: Another Jack, huh?

Wiz: Together, to stop the Omnic Crisis, Reyes and Morrison were among the founding members and Overwatch became a household name.

Boomstick: While Jack became the face of the team, Reyes became the leader of Blackwatch, a sort of Black Ops part of Overwatch, doing all the dirty work.

Wiz: But 20 years of this brought about resentment to his old friend for being the face of Overwatch and Reyes would start a rebellion.

Boomstick: One that resulted in their headquarters getting blown up, Reyes almost dying and Overwatch basically being dissolved. But that's okay! Because he had already gotten in touch with the terrorist organization, Talon.

Wiz: Thanks to one of his allies in Talon, Moira, Reyes was saved, but her science, or maybe his hate for Overwatch wouldn't die, Reyes was no longer the man he was. He became something... something called "Reaper".

(Note: To be clear, it's likely Moira is the cause, though Blizzard has left it ambiguous what exactly turned him into Reaper)

Boomstick: Badass... And now, as this grim reaper plague doctor looking guy, Reaper made his way up Talon's ranks, becoming one of their leaders.

Skills:

  • Years of combat training and experience
  • Skilled marksman
  • Hand-to-hand combat

Powers:

  • Wraith Form (Can be intangible, move fast and, in cutscenes, fly)
  • Shadow Step (A form of teleportation to places he can see)
  • Reaping (Absorbs his foe's health when he hurts them, possibly how he leaves them as husks)
  • Death Blossom (Creates dark smoke and fires shots at breakneck speed)
  • Durability (A possible side effect of his current state)

Weapons:

  • Hellfire Shotguns
    • Powerful enough to push Winston
    • Can break through armor
    • Seem to just appear out of nowhere when he needs a new pair
  • Grenades

Wiz: And along the way, he's gone to kill several former members of Overwatch and had run-ins with his former friend, Soldier 76. His identity is known only to few, people have come to fear Reaper, seeing him as some sort of shadowy demon. The bodies he's left appear to have been drained of life, like due to one of his powers, Reaping. In gameplay, this allows him to absorb health from opponents he's hurting. In non-game media, this might be the end result of people not in a match.

Boomstick: So... what exactly is he now?

Wiz: Good question. Supposedly, the cells in Reaper's body is constantly decaying and regenerating at the same time. All we know is that whatever it is makes Vlad's ecto-acne look eye-catching. Even Mercy, Overwatch's healer and a doctor, has no clue what the hell he's turned into. He's even resisted tranquilizer darts.

Boomstick: ... I... see. So, uh, can we talk about the best part of Reaper? His guns?

Wiz: Sure.

Boomstick: AWESOME! These babies are the Hellfire Shotguns.

Wiz Odd choice in name, since they're clearly handguns.

Boomstick: These babies are his bread and butter since his days in Overwatch.

(Note: Considering he used similar guns during his time in Overwatch, and his skins based on his old days uses them, there's the possibility they're either the same guns modified, or a similar type)

Wiz: Strong enough to pierce body armor. And bear in mind, Overwatch is set in the future, there's chance this is stronger than real world body armor. They also have a nasty side effect. When used on Soldier 76, it left his would black and the cells in that area mostly dead. This may be how his Reaping effect works, since Soldier 76's healing factor had trouble with this.

Boomstick: And when he wants to put a few more bastards down, he can always use them with his best move, the rather poorly named Death Blossom!

Wiz: After creating a cloud of his dark smoke, Reaper spins at alarming speeds, firing 170 shots per second.

Boomstick: How does he reload those things? When I play he just drops and gets a new pair out of nowhere.

Wiz: That's canon according to the original cinematic trailer... why he bothers carrying ammo still is beyond me. Maybe it's for grenades, though he hardly uses them. Still, Reaper has other powers at his disposal. Shadow Step lets him teleport to any location he can see within 35 meters, allowing him to get the drop on people.

Boomstick: Then there's his Wraith Form. In this state, Reaper can't attack but he's pretty much unstoppable. He can fly, go fast and go through pretty much anything.

Feats:

  • Lead Talon on various missions.
  • Scales to Soldier 76, who he almost killed, complete with similar skill in hand-to-hand.
  • Has killed dozens of people, including former members of Overwatch.
  • Broke Doomfist out of prison with relative ease.
  • Survived a fight with Primal Rage Winston and a Mech designed to fight Omnics, the latter destroyed on his own
  • Survived vaporization.

Wiz: And it's thanks to these powers he's lead Talon in various missions against his former allies. Including Winston, who he's fought with on several occasions. Gorillas are strong enough to lift 1800 pounds, and given his armor and berserker mode, Winston is no doubt stronger. And he rivals to his former friend, Jack Morrison, who is skilled and strong and in his own right and crossed a great distance in less than a second to save a girl from a grenade that was much closer to her than him.

Boomstick: He also survived getting bitchslapped by a MECH designed specifically for Omnics and somehow destroyed it all on his own. And he survived being vaporized by Winston's Tesla cannon.

Wiz: Assuming that is indeed what happened, it takes 3 gigajoules of energy to vaporize a full human being, which is barely 3/4th of a ton of TNT. And Reaper just turned into dark smoke before reforming at some point.

Boomstick: Damn, it sounds damn near impossible to put Reaper down. Is there anything wrong with him? I mean... other than his face apparently looking godawful now?

Wiz: Well... Reaper is... not the sanest person in the world. He takes too much time bragging and mocking his foes and it's cost him fights. His guns also aren't very effective in long range because of their spread, requiring him to stay close.

Boomstick: He's also reliant on Moira to keep an eye on his cellular degeneration, since it pretty much drives him crazy. And he's got a massive hate boner for Soldier 76.

Wiz: Still... at the end of the day, you should be thankful if Reaper never makes his way into your life.

Boomstick: With a skull face and a dark outfit, Reaper will make sure when he comes for you, it's your time to die...

Reaper: Death walks among you...

DEATH BATTLE![]

Wiz: Alright, the combatants are set... let's end this debate once and for all!

Boomstick: It's time... for a DEATH BATTLE!

________________________________________________________________

Amity Park, specifically Polter Heights, where the rich live. There lies the mansion home of Vlad Masters, mayor of Amity Park and secretly the supervillain Vlad Plasmius.

In his basement, Vlad Masters walks in through a set of doors, carrying a blue briefcase in his hand. He looked smug, satisfied even, as he strolled down.

“Ah… breaking into a base of such pathetic fools to get my hands on this was a snap!” He said proudly. “With this, Daniel is doomed, Maddie and the world will be mine!” Vlad said as he looked up into the ceiling. “Oh Maddie!” He called for his holographic version of her. “Prepare my tea and cookies, please, my dear?”

“I’m sorry, Vlad.” The Maddie Program went as he voice went from normal to slowly dying out. “I’m afraid… I can’t… to tha…”

Vlad stopped in his tracks, looking troubled by what he just heard.

“Maddie?”

The sound of a gun cocking was heard behind him.

“You have something Talon wants…” A guttural voice said behind his back.

Vlad turned around and, to his shock, he sees a figure he’s never encountered before. A figure with a bird’s skull as the basis of his mask while wearing some kind of dark robes. He carried two handheld guns, one of them in Vlad’s face.

“What in blazes?! Who are you?!” Vlad demanded angrily.

“Name’s Reaper… you took something from Overwatch. Something I want…”

Vlad lifted up the brief cast.

“This?”

“Hand it over…” Reaper demanded.

Vlad smiled and, instead of doing as Reaper demanded, he tossed it into the air.

As Reaper looked up, distracted from Vlad, Vlad Masters summons his energy rings and in his place was Vlad Plasmius.

“Ha!” Vlad fired a ghost ray from his hands put together, knocking Reaper a few feet away, thinking he’s made it clear to his foe he’s not to be underestimated. Vlad then caught the briefcase with ease. “Fool. I am no mere man…”

Vlad turned around, intent to resume his celebrations for victory when he’s shot in the back. Looking back, he sees that Reaper is standing back up, having fired one of his guns.

“Neither am I…” Reaper said.

Vlad, recognizing Reaper is not someone he can intimidate, puts his game face on. He places the briefcase down and tugs one of his gloves on tighter.

“Very well…”

In that moment, Vlad Plasmius flew to Reaper, one fist raised with energy flowing through it, glowing as his fist is empowered.

FIGHT!

Vlad sent a barrage of punches towards his foe, all of them making impact.

After throwing one punch that sent Reaper flying, Vlad then fired a ghost ray. Thanks to his experience in combat with Omnics and Overwatch, Reaper is used to getting fired at. He was able to dodge it. Vlad fired again and Reaper responded with ducking first before firing shots, shots that Vlad blocked with a shield he generates.

Thinking fast, Reaper pulled something out and tossed it over the rectangular shield.

“Catch…” Reaper said sarcastically.

Once Vlad caught it in his hand, he immediately and panicked. He tossed it aside.

It was a grenade and it blew up a part of his lab, much to his ire.

“You idiot! Do you know how much I paid for that?!” Vlad shouted.

Vlad was distracted, lowering his shield, allowing Reaper to go in and throw some punches of his own before firing in Vlad’s chest.

Vlad, knocked back, smirked at an idea and turned invisible.

At first, Reaper seemed unsure where to fire. That’s when he’s sucker punched by an invisible Vlad. Then he’s hit in the gut. After a third strike, he knew what he was dealing with. Once a fourth hit came, Reaper reacted fast and grabbed the arm allowing him a strike in Vlad’s abdominal region.

“Got you…” Reaper growled.

Vlad pulled back, turning visible and clutching his stomach in pain.

Reaper sent some punches on Vlad, only for the evil halfa to turn intangible.

“Fool!” Vlad mocked before deciding something else.

He decided to overshadow Reaper.

For a moment, Reaper seemed to be fighting against what was going on inside his body.

“Get… out…” He demanded as he struggled to maintain control, even as his arm was rising.

As it did, his gun was aimed at his chest and Vlad made him pull the trigger.

Once the shot was fired, Vlad left his body, thinking all was finished.

He did not notice Reaper’s body turned into black mist, he was just wiping his hands and looking smug.

“Hmph… too easy.” Vlad said as he flew a few feet away to go back to the briefcase. “Now for-“ That’s when he’s bombarded with blasts in his back. Once the stopped, he looked back and was in shock. “What?! HOW?!”

Reaper was still standing, unharmed, and his guns were tossed aside so new one took their place.

“It’ll take more than that to end Reaper…” He told his foe.

“Well… Vlad Plasmius is more than that… in fact.” Vlad pulled back and used his best-known power, he split into four of himself. “There’s more of me than you think!” All the Vlads said as they surround Reaper.

All of them began flying in and striking Reaper as they pass him, sending mocking laughter all the way.

Unfortunately for them, Reaper was not bothered by superior numbers.

He managed to counter one in time, elbowing him in the stomach. Soon, he started countering all of them, with jabs and the occasional shot. If this were a match in Overwatch, his meter would be going up for his Ultimate. In fact, as he was doing well, he then unleashed it.

The Death Blossom.

He unleashed his dark cloud that blinded the Vlads, allowing him to unleashed his storm of shots that hit every single one of them, leaving only one left, injured.

Reaper, seeing one Vlad left, began firing at him. Vlad countered with a shield before flying in and raising a fist.

However, Reaper reacted quickly.

As soon as Vlad threw his punch, Reaper was gone.

“What?!” Vlad questioned before Reaper sent three punches into his foe’s back.

Growling in anger, Vlad then sent his own punches.

Vlad went intangible at one point to avoid a blow, but as soon as he tried to attack, Reaper turned to dark smoke. Seeing as they both can turn intangible, Vlad saw no further point in using this to his advantage.

As the two connected fists with their foe, Vlad then raised a hand and flashed light in Reaper’s eyes.

“UGH!” Reaper went, momentarily distracted.

Vlad, grinning at a shot, charged his fist and sent an uppercut that seemingly sent Reaper through the ceiling.

“There… problem solved…” Vlad said, thinking the worst was over. As he turned around and walked away, he failed to see a dark smoke come from the hole he made and went past him. He paused when he saw what was in front of him and what it turned into. He did not like it. “You’ve got to be-“

He’s cut off as Reaper shot his Hellfire Shotguns at Vlad.

Now more than annoyed, Vlad started firing his ghost rays, only for Reaper to start strafing as he ran to his left, still firing.

Vlad rose into the air and continued his barrage of blasts.

That’s when Reaper entered wraith form to avoid a blast from Vlad, rising up to one of the columns supporting the ceiling and regaining physical form to kick off the column and tackled Vlad.

Vlad phased out of the way and wrapped an energy lasso around Reaper, only for Wraith Form to free him and allow Reaper to reappear behind and fire his Hellfire Shotguns once more at his foe. Vlad knocked them out of his hands, only for Reaper to throw a fist in his foe’s face. Then he pulled out new guns and fired into Vlad’s abdominal region once more.

Reaper lands gracefully as Vlad hits the floor on his back.

Now more than angry, Vlad got up and fired his ghost ray at full power, intent to leave nothing of Reaper.

He unleashed his blast and at first it seems he’s won and he smiles in relief, only for Reaper to reappear in front of him from the dark smoke.

Vlad threw a right hook, only for Reaper to catch it and use his years of combat training and experience to good use, twisting Vlad’s wrist and rendering it unusable.

“AGH!” Vlad shouted.

He then tried to kick, only for Reaper to grab him by the knee, where struck with the butt of his gun, likely breaking the kneecap.

“ACK!” Vlad went.

He fired a ghost ray in Reaper’s head with the intent to behead him, only for his foe to reappear once more.

“WHY WON’T YOU DIE?!” Vlad shouted angrily.

“Death can’t have me… I AM Death…” Reaper said.

“Oh please…” Vlad said.

He attempted to use his superior strength and blasts, but Reaper’s reaction time allowed him to avoid each blow and continue firing.

It was now Vlad began to realize how short of breath he was.

“You should know… each of my shots causes serious damage to your body… and you’ve been hit with at least 100 of them by now…” Reaper said.

Vlad panicked.

“What?!” Vlad shouted.

Reaper then fired more rounds into Vlad’s chest before tossing his empty guns aside and sent a flurry of punches, once of them strong enough to break some of Vlad’s teeth.

After more series of punches, Reaper threw one last right hook that sent Vlad Plasmius into one of his columns, hitting it head first.

Reaper’s guns taking effect, coupled with his injuries and weakening stamina, Vlad is unable to maintain his ghost form and is forcibly taken out of it.

As Vlad gasps in shock, he’s too late to do anything as Reaper used Wraith Form to cross the gap fast. Upon regaining physical form, Reaper aims a gun in Vlad’s forehead.

“Death… has come for you…”

Vlad can only say one, panicked line before the trigger is pulled.

“Oh… sugar cookies…”

Reaper pulls the trigger.

A shot was fired, one that went through the column.

Vlad Masters’ body falls to its right as Reaper walks away from his defeated foe and goes to pick up the briefcase.

Once he does, he looks back to his new victim and scoffs.

“Crazy fruitloop…” He muttered before walking away.

KO!

RESULTS[]

Boomstick: So… he’s a full ghost now? That makes it so much easier for Danny.

Wiz: Both Vlad Plasmius and Reaper are formidable foe who are deadly in their own ways, but one had everything he needed to win. On paper, Vlad should have this down, but Reaper’s skills gave him an edge Vlad’s powers didn’t. For example, technically Vlad had his powers far longer than Reaper, 20 over 6, but keep in mind he mostly used those powers to rob banks and steal from millionaires and he had no real experience or training before that.

Boomstick: Meanwhile, Gabriel Reyes was already a seasoned military officer way before that super soldier program, which was 20 years before Overwatch. Combining the 20 years and his 6, and assuming he was at least 18 when he got accepted, that means he’s got 40 years of training and combat experience. Plus, he fights people like super gorillas and robots all the time!

Wiz: In terms of speed, we scaled Vlad to Danny, who was able to outfly a space shuttle, which move at about Mach 23. Meanwhile, we scaled Reaper to Soldier 76, including the grenade feat. Given the amount of time and distance in such a feat, Jack Morrison had to have reacted with speeds close to Mach 90. Even if Vlad is as fast, or twice as fast as Danny, Reaper, having gone through the same program as Jack Morrison, would react faster than that.

Boomstick: But Reaper doesn’t exactly have ghost powers or anti-ghost weapons, so wouldn’t he have needed those?

Wiz: Not entirely. Keep in mind in the series, we’ve seen ghosts hit by things that don’t qualify as anti-ghost weaponry. For example, in his first appearance, Skulker was manhandled by a gorilla.

Boomstick: Something Reaper clearly survived.

Wiz: Not to mention, Vlad lost a fight against Jack Fenton.

Note: Keep in mind the Ghost Gloves only allow Jack to touch ghosts and make them unable to break free, there is no indication they can increase his strength. Even then, a gorilla with no such enhancement still defeated a full ghost.

Boomstick: Plus, Vlad has this problem of being so full of himself he underestimates his foes, even Danny.

Wiz: Reaper also had many ways to counter Vlad. Reaper could also go intangible and fly in the air, Reaper’s Death Blossom let him deal with Vlad’s duplicates…

Note: Overshadowing Reaper probably wouldn’t have worked for long, as strong-willed humans have been able to resist.

Boomstick: But Reaper doesn’t exactly have a whole amount of feats of strength close to Vlad, and Vlad could potentially be stronger than Danny’s 550 tons of TNT, so how’d he win?

Wiz: Simple, Vlad really didn’t have any means to kill him. Surviving complete vaporization and being pummeled by an enraged Winston means Vlad’s wide array of powers couldn’t put Reaper down for good. Meanwhile, Reaper’s shots causing Vlad’s body to slowly weaken didn’t help either.

Note: Since Vlad is half-human, it’s possible the effect of Reaper’s bullets still works on him. Being half-ghost does not seem to help make Danny or Vlad immune. For example, Danny still caught a cold once. Futhermore, Vlad’s ecto-acne returned and weakened him.

Second Note: We don’t know how long Reaper’s restoration actually takes, but for the purposes of this fight, it’s sped up to show Vlad was unable to permanently kill Reaper.

Boomstick: Yeah, Vlad might be tough against Danny Phantom while Reaper hasn’t exactly killed off major characters, but when you put the two against each other, Vlad was really at a huge disadvantage.

Wiz: While Vlad’s powers make him worthy of being Danny Phantom’s archenemy, he had no way to put Reaper down for good. While Reaper had the skills, experience and deadly weaponry to take the win.

Boomstick: I guess Vlad isn’t REAPING the rewards of this battle…

Wiz: The Winner is Reaper.

The Winner is Reaper

Trivia[]

  • The connections between Vlad Plasmius and Reaper is that they are both supervillains with ghostly abilities brought to them by science, Vlad Masters was explosed to a ghost portal while Gabriel Reyes was transformed into what he is now with aid from his ally Moira. Both have a vendetta against a character named Jack who they were once friends with. Both are regarded as major villains of their respective franchises, respectively the archenemies of Danny Phantom and Soldier 76, not to mention having many of their powers and abilities with a few of their own. Finally, both have had their powers for many years, mastering them to become the deadly foes they are now.
  • This episode would have used custom sprites to match the 2D animation of Danny Phantom, akin to the canon episode of Danny Phantom vs American Dragon Jake Long.
  • An original track for this episode would be called "Spirits of Villainy". It combines the guitars used in Danny Phantom's fight music, mixed with the track from Overwatch called "Prepared to Attack". The inspiration of it is "KO Computer" from Genos vs War Machine.
