VectorMan vs Clone Drone is a "What-If?" Death Battle to be written by Vrokorta. It pits VectorMan from the eponymous series, against the Clone Drone from Clone Drone in the Danger Zone. This battle was kindly suggested to me by Sharaku Jr., thanks again.

Description[]

Two robots, fighting robots, for the sake of humanity.

Rules[]

  • Fight takes place in the Drone's world
  • Drone gets all upgrades & equipment
  • Fight uses the protagonist of Clone Drone's story mode, giving them access to the uplink virus
  • VectorMan will have access to his power-ups & all morphs

Interlude[]

Vrokorta: When robots attack, humanity needs a hero.

Sphere Robot: You mean another robot?

Vrokorta: No- uh, yes, actually.

Sphere Robot: I can relate.

Vrokorta: Uh, anyways, robots like VectorMan, the heroic orbot tasked with cleaning Earth.

Sphere Robot: And the Clone Drone, a human mind trapped in a robot body on a planet far from Earth.

Vrokorta: I'm Vrok, & this is Sphere Robot.

Sphere Robot: And we're going to decide whose feats, arsenal & skills will be enough to win, a Death Battle.

VectorMan[]

Vrokorta: The year is 2049, & the Earth has been ruined by pollution.

Sphere Robot: Humans have set off to find a new home, leaving robots to clean up the mess... so like Wall-E but slightly less tragic.

Vrokorta: Things were going just fine, until some idiot maintenance robots went to fix the lead robot, only to attach a HECKING NUKE to his head!

Sphere Robot: Corrupted by radiation, the robot leader, now dubbed Warhead, turned against humanity, reprogramming every robot under his command to turn Earth into a human death trap.

Vrokorta: VectorMan, who'd been off-planet during all this, came home to find everyone had gone nutsy coocoo. So like any janitor, VectorMan grabbed some guns & took the fight to the head of politics...

Sphere Robot: ...

Vrokorta: Y'know that sounds really wrong now that I've said it...

Sphere Robot: Well it's just a video game, remember when Bad Mr. Frosty went to jail for assault & break-in but it worsened his demeanor & he had to go to therapy?

Vrokorta: Yeah, I guess we shouldn't take it too seriously.

Sphere Robot: What we should take seriously are the guns on this guy. VectorMan has a rapid-fire ball gun that fires energy projectiles, & with power-ups, he can get even faster shots, spread shots, ricochet shots, & shots that go through walls & enemies. It's not just his hands that are weaponized either. He has jet feet, allowing him to perform a mid-air jump, or blast enemies underneath him with a quick and powerful energy blast. On top of all that, he can even equip a forcefield to block damage.

Popup: Alternate weapons override each other, so VectorMan can only have one unique gun or forcefield equipped at a time.

Vrokorta: But you know what's even better than guns, forcefields & boot blasts? Transformations! With his orb-based body, VectorMan can morph at will into various different forms.

Sphere Robot: I thought he needed power-ups for that.

Vrokorta: You'd think that based on gameplay, but we see during the Warhead fights, & in several levels of VectorMan 2 that, not only does he not need a power-up to transform, but he can also maintain these forms for extended periods of time, unlike the time limit he has in normal gameplay.

Sphere Robot: Oh, well I guess that's fair, game mechanics & all that.

Vrokorta: We'll keep things simple & only bring up the relevant morphs. He can morph his feet into roller skates, allowing him to roll around faster than running. He can morph into a bomb, exploding on enemies to deal damage before reforming. He can turn into a tornado that damages everything he touches. He can turn into a tank to maximize his firepower. Finally, he can turn into a spaceship for interstellar flight.

Sphere Robot: What about his other forms, like Scorpion Stinger & Tick Punch?

Vrokorta: Those aren't morphs, they're assimilations, another ability VectorMan has. After defeating certain enemies, he can assimilate their essence to temporarily gain their powers. However, it's pretty much useless in a 1v1, so it won't factor in to the outcome.

Sphere Robot: Is that your way of saying it'll be part of the fight but won't affect the results?

Vrokorta: Maybe.

Sphere Robot: Well with that out of the way, let's cover feats, & let me tell you, VectorMan is quite the customer. He's traded blows with Warhead, who can create tornadoes & generate half a ton just by jumping.

Vrokorta: If by jumping you mean launching his 6 tonne body into the air at Mach 2, then yeah, he's just jumping.

Sphere Robot: VectorMan can also survive meteors impacts that generate over 4 Tons of tnt. But of course, VectorMan doesn't WANT to be hit by meteors, so he shoots them out of the air... by moving at MACH 47 TO HIT THEM BEFORE THEY REACH THE GROUND!

Vrokorta: And that's not even his top reaction speed. VectorMan can pilot a Sludge Barge, which is capable of flying past stars at speeds 1324 times the speed of light! Heck, he can even FIGHT a Sludge Barge! If that wasn't enough, his spaceship form can fly past stars too, moving at 1007 times the speed of light! This guy's a BEAST!

Sphere Robot: Come now Vrok, we're not researching the protagonist from Altered Beast.

Vrokorta: Not yet we aren't.

Sphere Robot: If all this wasn't enough, VectorMan also has one final move, his strongest attack, the OVERKILL, a massive explosion he used to destroy a massive insect hive.

Vrokorta: Now if you know me, you know I HAD to calc the potency of that explosion. But how could I when the game screen never shows the stage in its entirety, & there are no sprite rips for the final stage? Simple, & by simple I mean mildly complicated.

Hive Volume (Small)

Vrokorta: I just took a bunch of screenshots & strung them together. From here I could find height & width, model as a cylinder, multiply by 0.2 to account for hollowness, & calc fragmentation. This gives a final energy output of 122 Tons of TNT!

Sphere Robot: Now that's a lot of damage! Can anything stop this guy?

Vrokorta: No.

Sphere Robot: No?

Vrokorta: Nope. His only weakness is a few minor limits to his guns. Besides that, this guy has taken down hoards of aliens & robots single-handedly. Just try to stop him.

VectorMan: Coward, fight like a robot.

Clone Drone[]

Vrokorta: Imagine waking up in a robot body, having a laser sword dropped into your hands, & being thrown headlong into a gladiator arena against other robots.

Sphere Robot: Sounds like a great time for Boomstick.

Vrokorta: Yeah until you hecking DIE!

Sphere Robot: Eh, I still think he'd enjoy it.

Vrokorta: Well the humans who actually had to face this sure didn't. Luckily, two humans proved their worth in the arena, & caught the attention of Emilia, the digital conscious of the first escaped human. She helped them escape their captors, & the three teamed up to invade human harvesting fleet.

Sphere Robot: Human harvesting fleet?

Vrokorta: Well how else are they going to get human minds to put into robot bodies?

Sphere Robot: Right, well the infiltration hit a few hiccups, as Emilia & both humans were seemingly killed. Luckily, the two mechanized humans were able to transfer their minds just in time, & escaped the clutches of the drone Emperor. With their newfound ability to body-hop, both humans fought their way through the drone army, defeating the Emperor, avenging Emilia, ending the invasion, & even reviving the fallen humans before returning to Earth.

Vrokorta: How does killing the Emperor end the invasion? Surely another robot could've taken charge & finished what he started.

Sphere Robot: In truth, the reason for the invasion was the core programming of every robot, which forced them to harvest humans & make them fight. The real question is where said program came from.

Vrokorta: Maybe they were created by an ancient civilization, & their true intention was warped by time. Maybe the writers just got lazy... or maybe the previous emperor had a nuke strapped to his, causing him to reprogram his comrades to kill humans...

Sphere Robot: ...

Vrokorta: ... that'd be uncanny.

Sphere Robot: Very. Anyways, the humans certainly had the skill to succeed against a robot army, but it took more than that to claim victory. They needed weapons & upgrades.

Vrokorta: For starters, they have a laser sword capable of cutting through titanium. How do we know they can cut through titanium? Simple, the arena commentators claim that titanium is "a metal that's not garbage", & even claim to have "seen better". So it's safe to say the robots are made of titanium. Besides, they can also cut through spaceships, which even real humans build out of titanium.

Sphere Robot: If a laser sword wasn't enough, the human can also use it to deflect sword strikes & laser arrows, or burn enemies with fire!

Vrokorta: Speaking of arrows, the human can also wield a bow that fires laser arrows similar to the laser sword.

Sphere Robot: By upgrading the bow, the human can get wider arrows, flaming arrows, & even the ability to slow his perception kind of like bullet-time, though I guess that makes this "arrow-time".

Vrokorta: Next is the hammer, which is slower than the sword, & can't block attacks, but hits like a truck & covers much more area.

Sphere Robot: The human can upgrade it to be larger &, you guessed it, set enemies on fire.

Vrokorta: His last weapon is the spear & shield, which cover less area than the sword, but has more range & precision, plus it comes with a shield that blocks attacks for a while, though it will break down eventually.

Sphere Robot: The human can upgrade his shield to perform a shield bash, & set his spear on fire. Who saw that coming?

Vrokorta: Even with all those weapons, the human STILL has other abilities. The armor upgrade gives him orange armor that deflects attack, but is removed in a single hit. The jetpack gives the drone enhanced speed, allowing him to fly at speeds around 91m/s. The kick is great for when the human has no weapons, deliver a blow that knocks enemies to the ground, & can even hit other enemies like a domino effect.

Sphere Robot: There's also energy, a stat the human must upgrade to make efficient use of their abilities. Things like firing arrows, using "arrow-time", as well as using the jetpack, all cost energy, & can't be used if the human runs low. Energy regenerates over time, & can be upgraded to regenerate faster, as well as increase maximum capacity. In the end though, fully upgrading energy capacity gives the human access to their ultimate ability, Fire Breath! Boy do these robots love fire. Even so, the fire breath can reduce enemies to smolders at the cost of much energy.

Vrokorta: There's also multiplayer exclusive upgrades. The giant upgrade triples the human's size. The laser upgrade gives the human a powerful chest laser. The flame raptor upgrade lets the human ride a fire-breathing robot raptor.

Sphere Robot: But let's not forget the human's most iconic trait, clones.

Vrokorta: Of course. Instead of buying an upgrade, the human can buy a clone that will take his place if he ever dies. The human can have up to 10 clones, but officially dies once they run out.

Sphere Robot: Unless of course you're the protagonist, in which case you have one last gift from Emilia after she died, the uplink virus. With this, the human can hack his mind into another robot, allowing him to take their body & keep fighting. It seems to only work 5 times before failing, but this could just be game mechanics. The uplink is known to work on enemy robots & raptors, but not boss enemies or Spider-Trons.

Vrokorta: It isn't just abilities that have taken them far either, the human's new robot body is super strong! It can survive a 2 Ton explosion with no visible damage, & even survived a piece of a rocket being flung into it, which had a kinetic energy of just over 4 Tons.

Sphere Robot: Deja vu?

Vrokorta: A little bit.

Sphere Robot: Anyways, the human can easily destroy other robots similar to itself, meaning his AP is MUCH higher than his durability. On top of that, one drone managed to use his sword to slice through a rocket ship, generating around 62 Tons of energy!

Vrokorta: Incredible, but not perfect. The human is highly vulnerable to dismemberment, as losing an arm keeps them from using their hammer, bow, & shield. Losing a leg will slow them down, & losing both will kill them.

Sphere Robot: That's not even the worst of it, as minimal damage to the head can also bring the human's end. Then of course there's his limited energy supply.

Vrokorta: In the end though, this human proved their worth as more than just a gladiator. They proved their worth as a hero.

Intermission[]

Sphere Robot: Alright the combatants are set.

Vrokorta: Trust me when I say this matchup was not simple to figure out.

Sphere Robot: It's time for a DEATH BATTLE!

Death Battle[]

VectorMan zipped through the cosmos in his Sludge Barge, heading towards the new star he'd be dumping garbage on. I'm surprised we didn't start doing this sooner the orbot thought to himself, wondering just how much they'd soiled the sun in their years of dumping. VectorMan started to grow bored, so he reached out to turn on the ship's radio. He paused just shy of the button, remembering what happened the last time he turned on the radio...

He pressed the button anyways. As much as he didn't want to fight another legion of insects, he also didn't want to be without his music. Not long after the radio came on, a laser blasted through his ship, sending it crashing down towards an unknown planet. VectorMan sighed as he hopped out of the ship, shapeshifting his arms into propellers to slow his descent. "You're just trying to dump some garbage & some randos shoot you down" he ranted as his ship fell out of sight.

Suddenly, a green cuboid robot with a propeller grabbed onto VectorMan & carried him towards a colosseum. "Hey what's the big idea?!" VectorMan demanded, in no mood to be kidnapped by some dinky robot. When his captor didn't respond, he aimed his arm & blasted the robot to pieces. VectorMan fell, but stuck the landing, ending up in the middle of the arena.

"Wow, I didn't know the cleanup bots could kidnap other robots" Commentatron commented, "I thought they just grabbed trash".

"IT APPEARS TO BE A ROBOT BUILT BY HUMANS" Analysis-Bot analyzed, "I SEE WHY THE CLEANUP BOT GRABBED HIM".

"That is a fair point" Commentatron commented.

"Hey! Are you calling me trash!?" VectorMan exclaimed.

"More or less" Commentatron commented, "Walking, talking, human trash".

VectorMan clenched his fist in anger before opening his palm in their direction, "TRASH THIS!". He opened fire on the announcers, but his attacks bounced off of a forcefield, leaving them unharmed.

"AS IS TO BE EXPECTED FROM INFERIOR HUMAN TECHNOLOGY" Analysis-Bot analyzed.

"If you want to see some real trash, then you'll participate in our arena battles" Commentatron commented.

"What makes you think I'll fight for you?" VectorMan questioned.

"We didn't ask" Commentatron commented.

(Arena Music)

VectorMan's attention was drawn by a heavy mechanical whirring behind him. He turned to see a platform rise from the ground, & standing atop it was a blue & white robot wearing orange armor & wielding a glowing sword. "THE HUMAN MAY BE PATHETIC MENTALLY, BUT EQUIPPED WITH OUR SUPERIOR TECHNOLOGY, THEY ARE MORE THAN A MATCH FOR YOU" Analysis-Bot analyzed.

"I don't know what you mean by human" VectorMan said before raising his hands, "but I can assure you that they have no idea what they're up against".

"That's the best part" Commentatron commented.

FIGHT!

The orbot immediately opened fire on his alien foe, but the drone dashed out of the way before equipping his bow & firing off at VectorMan. "Woah!" the orbot exclaimed as he dodged the arrow. The drone quickly switched back to his sword before activating his jetpack, flying straight towards VectorMan. The orbot saw his foe too late, as the drone swung out at VectorMan's midsection...

The sword passed right through him, swinging through the space between VectorMan's orbs. The drone turned around in shock. "You missed" VectorMan said before blasting at the alien robot again. However, the drone raised his sword & deflected all the shots, sending them flying in all directions, including right back into VectorMan. The orbot recoiled as he was hit by his own shots, & the drone capitalized.

He equipped his hammer & swung at VectorMan. The orbot reacted just in time, dodging the slow-moving weapon. The drone swung again, & again, & again, but VectorMan continued to dodge. Before his next swing, the drone switched to his sword, catching the orbot off-guard with a faster swing. The drone got a glancing blow, lopping off all 3 of the fingers on VectorMan's left hand. "Gah! Dang it!" the orbot exclaimed before kicking his opponent, knocking them to the ground. Before he could get up, VectorMan unloaded his arsenal on their body, obliterating their armor & reducing them to a few smoldering cubes. "*Phew* See? Your robot was no match for me." VectorMan claimed.

"HAHA. HE THINKS HE'S WON" Analysis-Bot analyzed.

"He does not realize that the human has 9 other clones" Commentatron commented.

"He has WHAT?" VectorMan questioned.

9/10

Moments later a second, identical robot rose from the same platform, though this one lacked armor. "Okay VectorMan" the orbot said to himself, "If you want to keep the rest of your body intact, you're gonna have to step it up".

The drone equipped his spear & shield before cautiously approaching VectorMan. The orbot fired off a series of bullets from his palm, each one striking the drone's shield. With every successful hit, a piece of the shield broke off, but the drone proceeded with no issue. VectorMan started to back away from his foe, keeping his distance from the spear. At this moment, the drone activated his jetpack & rushed towards VectorMan, bashing him with the remains of his shield & knocking him to the ground. The drone took this moment to lash out with his spear, stabbing at VectorMan several times. The orbot struggled to dodge each blow, but eventually the spear struck his right hand, stabbing straight through it. "Ugh!" the orbot exclaimed before blasting the drone's head with his left hand, killing him instantly. "Couldn't have stabbed the bad hand?" VectorMan said as he pulled himself back up.

8/10

Two clones lost to one enemy the drone thought to himself in the upgrade room. I can't let him keep this up. There must be some kind of workaround the drone finished his pondering & proceeded onto the elevator platform.

(Deep Space Monstrosity)

Before the platform reached its peak, the drone had to dodge a shot from VectorMan, who aimed to kill him before he could even leave the platform. The human narrowed his robotic eyes before circling around VectorMan. The drone pulled out his bow & started firing arrows. VectorMan easily dodged these as he continued to shoot at his alien foe. Realizing the arrows were ineffective, the drone switched back to his sword & started carefully approaching VectorMan, using his blade to reflect every projectile. The orbot stopped firing to dodge his own attacks, & the drone took this moment to strike. Activating his jetpack, he rushed forward, sword outstretched. This time, he'd go for the head. Moments before the drone made contact, VectorMan's orbs flew off in several directions before reforming in the air.

What the? the human thought to themselves right before VectorMan charged right into him, blowing his body to pieces.

7/10

Did that guy just fly? the drone thought to himself as he made his way back to the arena. Before he reached the top, the drone drew his bow, & as soon as he saw VectorMan, he fired. The robot had indeed equipped a pair of jetpacks to fly, but the arrow struck his flying apparatus & sent him spiraling to the ground. The drone leapt into the air & brought his sword down on the orbot. However, VectorMan quickly rolled out of the way & raised his arm to shoot at the drone.

Thinking fast, the human used his jetpack to escape the orbot's aim before circling around him, slowly closing in with his sword. Right before the drone could strike, VectorMan shapeshifted again, turning into a buggy that drove away from the human just in time to avoid the sword strike. The orbot circled around & drove straight towards the drone. The human dodged to the left, but VectorMan simply changed direction, crashing straight into the drone, scattering his pieces on the floor.

6/10

The drone immediately ran back out. As soon as the platform reached its peak, the drone activated his jetpack & rushed towards VectorMan. He switched to a hammer & raised it to the air, but before he could smash the orbot, he drove out of the way. VectorMan got a good distance away before returning to normal form & raising his arm to fire. However, he immediately had to dodge a laser arrow aimed at his head, only being grazed in the cheek. The drone continued to fire arrows, & VectorMan had to dodge.

Once in range, the drone pulled out his spear & stabbed at the orbot's torso. VectorMan dodged, but was grazed in the side. He raised his arm to fire at the drone, but the human used his shield to block the hits. Before VectorMan could destroy the shield, the drone bashed him with it, sending the orbot sprawling onto his back. The human switched to his hammer & prepared to smash VectorMan, but the orbot dodged yet again. The drone followed up with a horizontal swing, but this time VectorMan jumped over it, ending up right on top the drone's head before delivering a boot blast to incinerate it.

5/10

The drone was about to run out again, but Upgrade Bot grabbed him in his hand & lifted him up. What are you doing? the drone questioned as a malicious face crossed the large machine's face.

"Interesting" Commentatron commented.

"SOMETHING HAS HAPPENED" Analysis-Bot analyzed.

"It would seem we have a request from Upgrade Bot himself" Commentatron commented.

"WOW!" Analysis-Bot exclaimed, "WHAT DID HE REQUEST?".

"You're going to love it" Commentatron commented.

Suddenly, the arena began to transform. Pillars rose from the ground, the ground gave way to lava, spike traps & saw blades popped up from the ground, & enemy robots began to populate the arena, including the massive Spider-Trons. "What the heck is this!?" VectorMan demanded.

"Upgrade Bot decided it was no fun watching you beat the human so easily, so he requested we escalate the fight" Commentatron commented.

"HE ALSO GAVE THE HUMAN ALL OF HIS UPGRADES" Analysis-Bot stated.

"Of course" Commentatron commented.

"I WAS JOKING" Analysis-Bot said.

"Upgrade Bot wasn't" Commentatron commented.

VectorMan turned around to face the rising platform again, & found the drone was decked out in a new set of armor, held a flaming sword, rode a mechanical raptor... & was twice his size. "And lemme guess, I get nothing?" VectorMan said.

"Actually, Upgrade Bot wanted to include these shoddy digital screens from a shipwreck, use those if you want" Commentatron commented.

No sooner than that did a handful of cleanup bots fly in to drop some old TVs into the arena. "Oh would you look at that" VectorMan said before shooting a TV, blowing it up & grabbing a green orb from inside it. The orbot smirked as all of his wounds recovered, "I DO get something".

(Blastermania)

The drone charged in on his massive Flame Raptor, unleashing a jet of flames on the orbot. VectorMan fired off at the raptor, stifling its attack. The drone switched to his now massive flaming hammer, & swung it down towards the orbot. VectorMan dodged the attack & shot at the drone, but it only knocked off a few pieces of armor.

The orbot was forced to dodge an attack from another sword robot that lunged at him from the side, before running out of the way of a handful of bombs raining from the sky via Spider-Tron 6000. VectorMan narrowed his eyes before shapeshifting into jetpack form, flying straight into Spider-Tron & smashing through his face. When he came out the other side, he carried Spider-Tron's essence, & assimilated it. He dropped to the ground, his four limbs spreading out like spider legs as his torso turned into a mortar.

VectorMan shot bombs all across the arena, blowing up various robots & knocking them into the lava. The drone's raptor took a shrapnel fragment to the head & exploded, knocking his rider into the lava as well.

4/10

VectorMan's assimilation wore off as the drone reentered the arena, still giant & equipped with armor. The human drew his spear & shield & started to approach the orbot. VectorMan shot a nearby TV & it released a power-up. The orbot grabbed it & started shooting a new projectile, a series of straight lasers. However, they went right past the drone & hit the wall. Just as the human began to question why VectorMan was missing, the lasers started to hit him in the back, breaking his armor. He looked behind him to see that the lasers were bouncing off the wall & hitting him from behind. The drone dodged to the side, only to find VectorMan land on his head & deliver another boot blast.

3/10

The drone returned to the arena & unleashed a massive laser from his chest towards VectorMan. The orbot used his jetpacks to fly towards the wall before becoming a cricket that started hopping along the wall. The human turned in his direction before unleashing a jet of flames from his mouth, but VectorMan stayed just out of the flames' reach. As the drone's flames ran out, VectorMan leapt off the wall & onto the drone's torso before firing straight into his face, obliterating it.

2/10

The drone sighed. This was a downhill fight. At least I still have one more clo- the human's thoughts were cut off as he saw VectorMan standing in the upgrade room. Did he follow me down here? the drone questioned as VectorMan raised his arm, aiming right at the final clone. The human shook his head, but VectorMan simply shot the clone, killing it instantly.

1/10

The human was on his last clone, if he was gonna end this, he was gonna do it now. The drone kicked VectorMan back onto the elevator platform before jetting over & grabbing him. The elevator rose back to the arena, & the drone used his hammer to smack Vectorman into a distant pillar. However, the orbot emerged from the debris in the form of a tank, & started firing at the drone. The human equipped his shield to block the hits, but it was quickly destroyed. He raised his sword to reflect the attacks, but they exploded on contact, breaking off minuscule pieces of the drone.

The human shot arrows, but VectorMan dodged. The human shot a laser, but VectorMan dodged. The human breathed fire, but VectorMan dodged. However, the orbot was now in range. The drone lifted his hammer & brought it down on the orbot, inducing a mess of orbs that flew out from under his hammer...

(Stop Music)

Is... is that it? the human questioned. Had he finally beaten this foe? It sure looked like it. All that was left was a green orb laying at his fee-

BOOM!

The orb exploded like a bomb, destroying the drone's armor, taking an arm & a leg with it. Before his eyes, the shrapnel from the bomb formed back into VectorMan, who looked perfectly fine after the explosion. The drone simply narrowed his eyes, equipped his sword, & started hopping towards his foe. Before the drone could swing his sword, VectorMan picked something up off the floor. The Flame Raptor's essence. The orbot assimilated the essence, changing him into a form with two legs & a large head. VectorMan reared back & unleashed a jet of flames, incinerating the last of the human's robot body.

0/10

K.O.!

"Well done" a voice rang out across the arena.

"IT IS THE EMPEROR" Analysis-Bot analyzed. A large, red robot descended from the sky & landed in a throne high above the arena.

"As our new champion, you will now be the one to fight all new humans brought to the arena" the Emperor said in a confident yet deadpan voice, "You will bring us entertainment for as long as your weak, Earth body lasts".

VectorMan kneeled down & pulled in his arms, his body vibrating with energy.

"Try to contain your excitement" the Emperor said.

VectorMan then suddenly thrust his arms outward. "Screw you!" VectorMan yelled before unleashing Overkill, blasting through the announcers' forcefield before annihilating the entire arena & all of its viewers...

VectorMan trudged out of the shattered remains of the arena & dusted himself off. "Now that that's done, let's go fix my ship" VectorMan said before walking in the direction he saw the barge crash, "Note to self, leave all garbage on this planet".

Results[]

Sphere Robot: Well Vrok, you said this one wasn't easy to figure out, care to explain why?

Vrokorta: Well first off was strength & durability, which the drone surprisingly took. While both could survive attacks just over 4 Tons of TNT, the drone takes his hits much better than VectorMan does. On top of that, the Drone's AP was far higher than his durability, meaning a clean hit on VectorMan could've easily killed him. The problem was actually hitting him.

Sphere Robot: True. I mean the drone was fast, his reaction speed clocks in at 1.3% the speed of light, but VectorMan was over 100,000 times faster, reacting to speeds 1324 times the speed of light! Eat your heart out Sonic!

Vrokorta: The drone was stronger, but VectorMan was faster, so this fight really came down to the other advantages, & Vectorman took almost all of them.

Sphere Robot: With his morphs, VectorMan could easily outmaneuver the drone. After all, the drone hardly ever fights flying enemies, & VectorMan could technically fly at will. Heck, his morphable body meant he could easily avoid most of the drone's attacks, especially considering all the negative space in his silhouette. It's hard to hit something that has so little... SOMETHING, to hit.

Vrokorta: His morphs also gave him an arsenal advantage. On top of his blaster & boot blasts, he could turn into a bomb to blow up the drone, a tornado to whip him away, or a buggy to simply run him down. That's not to mention his other guns, his shields, or the Overkill.

Sphere Robot: Sure the drone had a lot of weapons, but most of them relied on melee range, & VectorMan is a long-distance fighter. The drone would have to rely on his slow-moving, low fire rate arrows to hit him from a distance, & VectorMan's speed & mobility meant he could just dodge them all.

Vrokorta: It didn't help that VectorMan simply had more experience. He's fought through legions of robots & insects, & traveled all across the world. The drone only really fights other robots similar to itself, & uses the same tactics in almost every fight.

Sphere Robot: One of the only other advantages the drone had were his other clones, but VectorMan was simply too fast & varied for even 10 instances of the same guy to beat him. Don't forget, this guy has taken on whole armies single-handedly, 10 1v1s against someone less experienced then him was nothing.

Vrokorta: Then of course there's the Overkill, which should be potent enough to one-shot the Drone... as well as the entire arena.

Sphere Robot: But Vrok, if VectorMan had so many advantages, then how was the fight so hard to decide?

Vrokorta: Well barring the human's clones, & the small chance he had to one-shot VectorMan, his biggest ace-in-the-hole was the uplink virus. If it worked properly, he could just steal VectorMan's body, & the victory along with it. The problem was, would it even work on VectorMan? After all, he's far different from the drone's own tech. He may be able to take the body of a Flame Raptor, but that's still tech from the same planet that digitized his brain & put it in a robot. It's unlikely that he could steal the mind of a machine from another planet. Furthermore, if VectorMan were ever to just leave the planet in spaceship form, he'd be out of the drone's range. Combine that with the possible limits of the uplink virus, & I think there's just enough reasoning to justify that the uplink virus would not guarantee the drone's victory.

Sphere Robot: Well, between the human & the VectorMan, now we know who the real man is.

Vrokorta: The winner is VectorMan.

Deleted Scenes[]

  • I considered having it that the drone was the same human that built VectorMan, & there'd be a dramatic scene where VectorMan regrets his actions, but avenges his creator by destroying the arena. This felt too involved, & I decided not to go the dramatic rout this time around.
  • I wanted to have a surprise ending where the drone's last clone comes back from death as a zombie & nearly kills VectorMan. This added too much fluff to the ending, so I kept it simple.

Trivia[]

  • Vrok had to take many creative liberties when writing this fight
    • Realistically, VectorMan's shots would've been doing minimal damage to the drone, but that would've greatly lengthened the battle considering how many clones he'd have to get through.
    • Since the drone's attacks could deal so much damage, I had to make VectorMan dodge a lot (at least this maintains his mobility & speed advantage).
    • The entire bit where Upgrade Bot changes the fight was simply so I could raise the stakes & make the fight more interesting, as I found it kind of boring prior.
