Hello! As you can tell from the title, the purpose of this blog is to act as a review board for official battles. To provide a better explanation, we've previously disallowed the creation of battles for fights which have become official episodes due to a number of people trying to mean-spiritedly "disprove" the official Death Battle, and this has been especially prevalent in highly contested episodes such as Yang Xiao Long vs Tifa Lockhart and Gaara vs Toph Beifong, to name a few.
While users have always been able to create their own versions of these battles on blogs, a number of people would also like their works to be easily accessed on the official pages as well. As most of these battles have been completed before the official Death Battle crew creates the episode, and given that were are a Fanon Wiki first and foremost, we feel that it would be fair to loosen the rule a bit and allow for the creation of these battles which have become official on the pages that already exist. As such, most of which would end up being tabbers.
Although the kind of vocal community outcry which first led to the original creation of the rule has lessened greatly in the years since its introduction, it is not entirely gone, and we'd like to first test the waters and see how people handle this rule. Should there be a positive reception and consistent proof that everyone can handle it maturely, we may lift the rule entirely, but that's a talk for another day.
Additionally, this rule is only for official fights that Death Battle themselves have done. Other canonical fights such as Godzilla vs King Kong or Batman vs Superman are not a part of this rule.
In order to properly evaluate a battle to see if it is eligible to be put onto pages, there are a few steps to the procedure that must be followed:
1. Users will first create and complete the battle as a blog, as they would any other fight. Once the battle has been finished, return here.
2. If you would like to have this battle featured on the official page, post a link to it in the comments section below.
3. The battle will be read and reviewed by myself, as well as other members of the staff team, and a response will be left either granting approval or not.
4. If approval is granted, then great! You're all set. If it is not, however, constructive criticism will be left in order for you to fix up these sections. In most cases though, I'm sure we'll be alright.
5. The page's author will be contacted, asking them if it's alright (if they are currently active), or informing them (if they are inactive) that a version of their fight will be put onto the page.
6. Your battle will be up on the page for all to see. Enjoy!
As a practical example, let's say that a hypothetical user wanted to do a version of Lex Luthor vs Doctor Doom. Following the rules, they would first complete their battle to regular wiki standards in a blog, and if they wish for it to appear on the official page as well, it can be submitted for review. Nothing special is needed; just a kind greeting and link to their battle.
This battle will then be reviewed by myself and other members of staff, and we will promptly respond will a message of approval, or a message letting them know of areas which they may need to change (for instance, removing a line directly referencing something they disagree with in the official episode, or meeting the required word count). I've got faith that the majority of battles will be up to the necessary standards, but these things are important to keep in mind.
After the battle is fully approved and we're all set, I will contact the page's original author, asking them for permission to put their battle onto the page, or informing them that it will be so, and then the content will be copied and pasted across exactly. After that, the battle will be up for viewing, just like the other version.
If there are any questions, please don't hesitate to ask, and I will endeavour to respond to them as best I can.
Thank you!
