Based off of the blog I did in the Death Battle wiki that I've eventually abandoned, here's a general list of matchups that I like. None of this is within order, so x matchup being below y matchup doesn't necessarily mean I prefer x over y, it's only in list of what I want to write about at the time. That being said...
1000: 'Internal Pandemonium', Deathslinger vs Percival de Rolo (Dead by Daylight vs Critical Role)[]
Not much I can say here past that I absolutely adore this matchup. Even while I've only recently gotten into either series, this just sounds really cool as an overall Hero/Villain matchup. Percy and Caleb, while similar, are so much different to one another that it actively would cause the two to resent one another. Plus, having Vox Machina and Dead by Daylight's killers taking appearance just fits really well into how the two fight, especially having Caleb going berserk and trying to kill everyone around him as Percy intends on shutting down Caleb from causing any harm to anyone, including the very people fighting his crew. Plus, Percy winning is really based.
Preferred Alts.: Caleb doesn't really have stuff that interests me... at all. Most of his matchups put him against quick-paced FPS characters that aren't really good tonally or thematically, or otherwise aren't particularly interesting in regards tO Caleb's character interactions. Percy has Batman and Aki, which I do like, but at the moment my preference leans towards Batman.
Roots: This is really hard to decide on, but I generally want to lean towards Percy. Dead by Daylight has less attachment personally than Critical Role, and Percy is just a really fun character that deserves more time in the spotlight.
Bets: Percy ez.
Animation Style: Hand-drawn could go really hard. 3D could work but not to the extent that HD works with.
999: 'OFF Yourself' The Batter vs Time Nomad (OFF vs Middens)[]
This is just a spectacular matchup. While OFF and Middens have straight up opposing art styles, it means the clash between the two allows for so much potential creativity. Time Nomad's Proxy's clashing against the Batter's Add-Ons, for examples, fits really well into the way the two fight, and their ability to fight in melee is just awesome. Plus, having appearances of Genie and Judge as the two traverse the many landscapes in their games, clashing against one another as Batter tries to purify the putrid land that Time Nomad intends on protecting. It's overall a spectacular matchup and easily what I prefer for either.
Preferred Alts.: Time Nomad doesn't have any specific alts, however I do like Frisk for Batter.
Roots: Time Nomad personally.
Bets: Time Nomad, I'm assuming. Generally better stats and abilties with comparable range and skill.
998: '115 Years', Nox vs Samantha Maxis (Wakfu vs Call of Duty: Zombies)[]
Being one of my favorite series ever, Call of Duty has a special place in my heart. While it doesn't have many matchups in the community, I will love almost any potential matchups for the series and this is no different. Not only is Nox a perfect character to clash against someone like Samantha, having someone who lost their family as a father fight against someone who lost her own family as a daughter, but actively pushes Samantha to her greatest. Combining this with the potential thematics and interactions, it makes a really nice matchup for both that I absolutely love.
Preferred Alts.: Nox has way too many alts for me to go over, but unfortunately Samantha doesn't have a similar spread.
Roots: I love both, so I'd say I'm overall neutral towards either.
Bets: Call of Duty Zombies generally gets higher-dimensional, which outpaces almost anything you can argue for Nox.
