So Death Battle dropped the HIGHLY requested fight of Dragonzord vs Mecha-Godzilla. A fight I thought would be pretty interesting to look at. And I'm here to give my opinion on the fight.
Note: I skipped the researched for both sides and just went into the fight. And I want to make it clear. I'm not here to argue over who won or who lost, I'm mainly just here to give what I thought of the fight itself. Now. Regarding my opinion.
Gotta say: I was very disappointed with this fight. Not just cause Power Rangers lost, but the fight itself didn't live up to the hype. The animation looked really good, which is pretty much the ONLY thing Death Battle has going for them at this point. But the fight itself was.... It wasn't right.
First off: There wasn't any real introduction, which is what ever fight needs. It was literally 2 seconds in, and they're fighting. It would have been better had it been something like, I don't know, Mecha-Godzilla arriving to the city, Tommy see it, and summons the Dragonzord. You can't NOT have the epic summoning of the Dragonzord.
Second: I'm also disappointed they didn't use Mega Dragonzord. They allowed Warrior Mode, but not Mega Dragonzord, even though both forms require different zords in order to work. Now I don't care if it wouldn't have changed the outcome or not, the problem is they aren't using the Dragonzord to its full potential, which is always a major issue with Death Battle. They give one side all they're shit, but intentionally leave out certain things for other characters. If you are gonna give Dragonzord Warrior Mode, you might as well give him Mega Dragonzord.
Third: Now what really irked me was Tommy spending the WHOLE fight inside the Dragonzord. I didn't like that. Dragonzord doesn't need Tommy to be inside it for it to work. He could have been outside and providing support to the Dragonzord by firing energy beams at Mecha-Godzilla. He did against that Titanus zord (If I misspelled I'm sorry) so I don't see why he could do it again. Now I know Tommy has been inside the Dragonzord before but he was only in like twice and that's it. So to me it makes no sense for Tommy spending the whole fight in there. Maybe if things started to get hairy I could see him going inside but only if he felt the need to.
Now again: I'm not arguing over weather or not the outcome was correct (Even I wish they would have Power Rangers win a fight for once, this is they're 4th damn lost), but this fight honestly did not live up to the hype. Its very disappointing.
Overall: I give it points for good animation, but everything else needs work.
