Introduction[]
Every choice we make affects ourselves and the people we know. But if we're not careful or lucky, our choices can affect the world itself. These two very actions change the world they live in and then some.
The Overlord, the Third Evil Master of his Minions
and
The Hero of Oakvale, the very Savoir or Destroyer of Albion
For this match up, I'll be using the games lore and its sequels to compare their level of power and attributes.

The Overlord Dominates DEATH BATTLE[]
Once upon a time, in the land of Greenvale, the people were in subjection and tormented by the 7 once legendary heroes turned evil by their sins. The age of heroes is over and all is lost. Last thing we need is an equal evil force to make matters worse or better.
In the depths of the Dark Tower, a race of demonic gremlins known as minions sought to rise back to power and spread the word of evil once more. Unfortunately they couldn't do it alone, but evil found a way in the catacombs of a forgotten warrior. He was once a hero, but now he dawns the dark minion armor and gauntlet as the new and improved Overlord
- Alias: Third Overlord, Master, the 7th Hero or the Infernal God
- Likes: Committing evil atrocities, dominating the land, killing anything cute and cuddly and kicking his Jester
- Dislikes: Anything that is pure and good
- Descendant: Lord Gromgard (By Overlord position)
- Country: Greenvale
The age of the Overlords lineage goes back about 100 years or maybe more during the Gromgard reign where the first Overlord was brought into the destiny of evil thanks to his mentor Gnarl, the leader and brains of evil. Though he's prejudice against other races and species, he requires a master to aid him on the quest to dominate and destroy the world. And Gnarl found the messenger in a tomb and armored the man up so he can lead the dark crusade across the land bringing destruction to everyone and everything that looks peaceful and happy. But he wouldn't be able to accomplish this without his personal army, little gremlins and mascots of the series, the Minions.
The Minions
- Browns
- The fighters
- Basic and most versatile
- Fought and defeated Melvin Underbelly
- Reds
- Fire Attackers and Ranged Unit
- Throw fireballs and are fire resistant
- Weakest of the minions so they’re useful at a Distance
- Greens
- The Stealth and Smelly Assassins
- Turn invisible by standing still and are immune to poisonous gas
- Jump onto enemies to backstab them repeatedly
- Blues
- Magical Healers and Swimmers
- They can revive dead minions
- They’re the only minions that can harm ethereal beings like wisps or ghosts
These dark creatures originate from the Netherworld and have their own unique attributes but have one in common. To serve the Overlord and spread the word of evil across the land. The browns serve as the brawlers and primary soldiers on the front line dealing the most damage. The Overlord will have the most browns out of the other three variants. The reds though weak, are better suited as the ranged units and controllers of fire. Greens, though the foulest minions due to their hygiene are the stealthy assassins focusing mostly on leaping onto enemies and repeatedly stabbing them in the back. They're so stealthy, they can turn completely invisible by standing still. Blues are not fighters, they serve as the white mages. They can revive deceased minions so they can continue the fight, their magic is effective against ethereal beings such as wisps and ghosts and they're the only minions that can swim in water.
The minions are loyal to their Overlord, giving their lives and servitude in whatever he commands. They will walk through fire, drown themselves, leap onto giants made of rocks and even offer their life force to create weapons and armor for their master. Preferring to use overwhelming numbers and back-stabs an enemy, these little demons are well orchestrated in combat thanks to their hivemind link with their Overlord. He can send them charging into battle, call them back, hold their position or guide them with his hand. And should an opponent be too much for them, they'll pop a cold one and get super powered up dealing double their original damage for a short time. Though their size they should never be underestimated, especially with their Overlord around wielding some pretty evil weapons and armour.

- Sword of Life-stealing

- Frenzy
- Berserk
- Legion of Terror
- Shield Spells
- Shield
- Shock Shield
- Infernal Shield
Collecting all three smelters, the Overlord was able to create his own arsenal with strong metal such as Durainium and Arcanium. For this match we'll have him use the Arcanium since its suppose to be the strongest minerals and the unique weapons and armor. Depending on the amount of minions he uses for his items, his Arcanium Axe should be strong enough to cleave through enemy skulls while shaking the very ground he walks on. But if he wants to get creative, he can use the unique forge moulds for special attacks. The Axe of Confusion drives enemies away from him in a fright wandering aimlessly for a short time, though it doesn't work on larger opponents. The Mace of Doom creates stronger shockwaves and knocks enemies backwards, though damaging is crap with this weapon. However, Overlord can use the vampiric Sword of Life Stealing and sap away enemies health for his own. And of course he has the Armour of Fire, this devilish suit not only protects him but also ensures his enemies will burst into flames with every strike.
However he wouldn't be an evil Overlord without having some dark magic. His power of dominance gives him truly destructive spells. Using Fire Spells he can throw balls of flame, blast it in a concentrated furnace or just erupt his surroundings setting everyone on fire. Domination Spells allows him to slow his enemies, confuse them from their goals or turn betray against one another. Minion spells increases his minions strength and durability, but at the cost of his control over them as they'll rip and tear anything that's not part of the scenery. And if the Overlord needs defenses, he can surround himself with the Shield Spell, expanding its barrier to guarantee no foe can breach him. And should they try coming close they'll be in for a shock or burn. With all this power, its a question of how powerful the Overlord can really be. Thankfully we can compare the Overlord to the source of his magic, the "Tower Heart.
The more mana it consumes (Basically leveled up the Overlord gets) the stronger his power becomes. One point, a foolish elf used the Tower Heart in attempt for power, but only caused a massive explosion which destroyed the Dark Tower, Mellow Hills, Spree and its surroundings. We can use this as the extent of the Overlords power and it does fit with his feats including his son, "Spoilers".
Feats
- Can smash brick walls down, stone columns and harm Rock Giants
- Can shake the entire Dark Tower with his…stamina (an hour)
- Brought ruin or liberated the land
- Liberated the Town of Spree from the Halfling infestation
- Retrieved the Minions Hives and Tower Heart
- Ended the zombie plague
- Ruled the Infernal Abyss as its new god
- Defeated the 7 Heroes, The Succubus Queen, The Second Overlord and the Forgotten God
The Overlord is strong enough to shake the very ground he walks on with a savage strike, knock over stone walls weighing 10 tons and even harm Rock Giants and other giant creatures. During his journey to reclaim his power, the Overlord stopped the Halfings infestation in spree, ended a zombie plague in Heavens Peak and slew the once 7 heroes who brought more devastation to the land way before he woke up from his slumber.
Defeating these heroes is no easy task, Oberon went into a slumber and his mana infected Everlight forest causing massive roots to sprout everywhere and nearly spread across Mellowhills and possible the entire country. But the Overlord defeated him, though it did seemed rather heroic, however an Overlord cannot rule a kingdom if there is no kingdom so it was for the greater good. Nor could their be two Overlords to govern the Minions, as it turns out the second Overlord was still alive, currently possessing the Wizard and attempted to reclaim the Dark Tower and his Minions. Fortunately with the help of his two Mistresses, the Overlord pulled a Highlander and defeated the Wizard leaving only the Abyss portals.
Turns out, an even greater evil only known as the Forgotten God was using the heroes concentrated evil to create portals in order to return and be remembered again. The Overlord conquered all of the Abyss portals and even slew the Forgotten God ending its terror for good. Unfortunately, the he was too slow and got trapped inside the Abyss leaving his minions with no Overlord to lead them. However, turns out one of his mistresses is pregnant. Guess Gnarl was right, "Evil, always finds a way".
The Hero's Choice May Change DEATH BATTLE[]
Deep in the forests of Albion lay the small town of Oakvale, unchanged by time and untouched by the sword. It was a peaceful home for anyone who wishes to live in isolation from the evils in the world or even raise a family where a child dreams of greatness. But all this changed when a band of bandits invaded and slaughtered everyone, burning the once peaceful town leaving no survivors except for one. He was known by many names. The Avenger, Deathbringer, Liberator and Chicken Chaser. But the history of Albion titled him, "The Hero of Oakvale".
- Aliases: Boy, Lad, Brother, Hero or Chicken Chaser
- Likes: Kicking Chickens, expressing his feelings and dreaming of being a noble knight or an evil warrior
- Dislikes: Bandits, Jack of Blades and the Guildmasters constant nagging
- Descendant: The Archon Bloodline
- Country: Albion
After a near death experience with a Bandit, the boy was saved by the wizard Maze who took him into the Guild to be trained in the three traits of the Hero, Strength, Skill and Will. Cuz that's how it works, "I saved your life, now go to school and become a mercenary killing monsters and saving the world. No Pressure". So he went from a farm boy, to a stick swinging beetle slayer and finally a sword wielder. But that's not all, the boy learned how to flourish his attacks, where he builds up his combat multiplayer via dodging, attacking and blocking without getting hit he can double his strikes knocking his opponents down. But if he gets hit, he'll have to start all over again. He was also taught on how to use the bow and crossbow, delivering precise hits on opponents far away so thoroughly, he can decapitate them before they even know it. And finally he learned to cast lighting from his fingers electrocuting four enemies in one strike. And that is just one of the spells in the heroes Will arsenal, yes the name of magic in this world is called Will. Get it, we Will things to happen, ha ha.
Graduating from the Guild as a full time Hero, our Hero ventered out into Albion to make a name for himself. Either as a Hero or the Villain in this story, but which ever choice he makes, will effect the world around him. But he won't get far without his preferred choice in weapons and Will spells. Although the hero can carry as many weapons as he wants since he doesn't take weight limits, but for this match up we'll be starting him off with the Legendary Weapons including the Archon Battle Armour.

From the Harbinger is a legendary sword from the Hero "Huw the Giant" who slew men and demons like parchment and only the strongest was able to wield this sword. To the most powerful sword wielded by god like beings from the Void, Sword of Aeons. This weapon not only heals the wielder's health and mana, but it'll guaranteed conquest throughout all of Albion. Though it's debatable to canon, especially since it requires a sacrifice to wield the sword and Fable 2 stated the Hero wielded the Sword. However there is Avo's Tear which is exactly like the Sword of Aeons, so win win.
The Hero also wields Skorms Bow which is embued with ominous power, Solus Greatsword once wielded by Dragon Knights and Murren's Greathammer said to hold the will of the Gods. These weapons lore are very vague, but they do get the job done. Hell, even without these weapons the Hero can always use the most powerful spells in all of Albion.
Will Magic
Attack Spells:
- Lighting
- Fireball
- Battle Charge
- Multi-Strike
- Enflame
- Infernal Wrath
- Divine Fury
Physical Spells:
- Physical Shield
- Berserk
- Assassin Rush
- Multi-Arrow
- Ghost Sword
- Heal Life
Surround Spells:
- Force Push
- Slow Time
- Turncoat
- Summon - Minion
- Drain Life
The Hero has the typical spells such as Lighting, Fireball, and Heal Life, but his spells affect both him and the world. Such as doubling his strikes with "Multi-Strike", move blinding speeds behind his enemy with "Assassins Rush", slow time with "Slow Time", force push with "Force Push", and if he really wants to hurt everyone surrounding him, the Hero can cast "Divine Fury" or "Inferno's Wrath". Of course the Hero has other spells where he can just summon ghostly swords and fallen foes to fight the battles for him while he chills in his "Physical Shield".
Although if he's not careful, the Hero could deplete his mana leaving him helpless. But that's okay, one drink from a potion and he's ready to do another quest saving Albion or dooming it for his own selfish desires. His choice has changed the very world he inhabits. Either killing the Bandit King who has done no crime to the Hero, sparring his childhood rival for her sake, the choices he makes will be known through his actions and physical appearance. But whatever he decides, his feats make him a mighty hero in Albion.
Feats
- Won the Witchwood Arena
- Mastered the three Hero traits: Strength, Skill and Will
- Slayed the three masters of the land, sea and sky (Trolls, Krakens and Dragons, Oh MY)
- Freed the Prophets of Fire/ Killed them all
- Saved/Doomed Albion
- Defeated the Wasp Queen, Twinblade, Arachanox, Maze and Nostro
- Ended Jack of Blades tyranny in the void for good/Became Jack of Blades putting Albions fate undecided
He fought against hordes of bandits, monsters, bugs and demons. Strong enough to decapitated a human head with his sword or even an arrow. Hell, he can knock a 2 ton boulder back at a Troll, and even slayed the masters of the Land, Sea and Sky, oh my. Depending on the gamer, the Hero mastered the three hero traits of Strength, Skill and Will. Though this is canon since the hero has a strong will as "plot twist", he's the descendant from The Archon! Also named William Black. In the Old Kingdom, Albion was oppressed by the Court of Blades, deities from the Void who burned, drowned the kingdom and drove the citizens insane. The Archon stole the Sword of Aeons and battled the Court of Blades for weeks ending their reign. Though it can be said the Hero doesn't share the same, the Sword did grant William the power to defeat the Court of Blades but at the cost of his soul. And after centuries of plotting and the reveal of the legendary blade, Jack will fight the Hero and fail. Twice.
By making his choice, the Hero of Oakvale grew from a boy with dreams to the greatest champion in all of Albion. Or the most notorious demon who plagues our world. Really, you decide which.
IT'S TIME FOR A DEATH BATTLE[]
In the cemetery, kneeling over the shrine of a fallen hero. A knight holds his sword with both hands praying in silence to the memorial of his mother, the legendary Scarlet Robe. As he mourns, a voice echoes in his ear in annoyance as he groans to hear his Guildmaster speak to him.
“Hero, I’m sorry to disturb you during your time of remembrance. However there is an urgent quest that you should look into”, the voice calmly says but with weight.
“It’s your hometown Oakvale, its being under siege by demonic beings”, after hearing that, the hero’s eyes turned ethereal blue and a bright light engulfs him teleporting to the entrance of his home.
In the town, the citizens are running rampant while being massacred and burned by small colored individual’s laughing and praising the evil they’re committing. Just as a brown demon was about to murder a woman, the hero shoots an arrow straight through its skull killing it. The hero points at the exit and she runs out of Oakvale leaving him behind to the raiders. Seeing the loan man foolishly entering the doomed town, the demons began chanting their master will end this hero's life.
“Yes minions”, a voice speaks openly, “Only our master is allowed to slay this, loan hero”. And from the flames conducting these atrocities steps into the battlefield, the Overlord. The minions cheer in the open surrounding the two as they prepare to fight. The hero greets the Overlord with his middle finger but only reacts with a glaring stare. The Overlord conjures a large ball of fire and throws it at the Hero, but he manages to dodge in time and fires an arrow at his opponent. He deflects it and charges towards the Hero beginning the battle.
The two combatants clash their blades together, the Hero his legendary “Harbinger” and the Overlord his “Aracanium Axe” and they proceed to duel against each other. Blocking the heavy attacks, the Hero dodges the Overlord’s attacks and strikes him from behind. Not falling over, the Overlord retaliates with a savage strike only to be blocked again by the Hero. The Hero takes the opportunity to flourish an attack tripling it with one strike knocking the menace down. Taking the advantage, the Hero strikes once more only to be shocked (literally) by a powerful barrier surrounding the Overlord
As the towering dark knight is about to hack the Hero, he throws his own fireball but it gets split in two and the Overlord smashes the Hero creating a massive crater with the cheering of minions echoing in the back. As the smoke clears the Hero manages to conjure a barrier around himself and lets loose a powerful force knocking the Overlord back. The Hero then draws the Murren Axe and buries it into the Overlord, piercing his armor. Needing to recover, he Slow's the hero with his Domination and sends the brown minions to attack, giving the Overlord time to plan his next attack.
A group of browns jump onto the Hero overwhelming him with their method, while his shield remains undamaged his willpower drains drastically the more they attack. Using his last will, he engulfs them all in fire, burning them all. Only to have the blues appear and drag the charred corpses away to tend. With this time, the Hero uses a potion to recharge his will, but is then hit with a fireball and burned up with the Overlord’s Flamethrower. In response, the Hero uses his lighting spell and the two collide with one another creating a spectacular show for all the minions witnessing it.
With the two spells nearing the caster, the Overlord summons a minion and has him attack the hero. Distracted and struggling to get the little beast off him, the Overlord sets him on fire and draws his “Mace of Doom” smacking the Hero with enough force crashing into the tavern destroying it.
Not seeing through the debris, the Overlord is caught off guard by an arrow and magical duplicates striking him forcing him to rely on his minions. A loud bellow conjures all the minions in the area and he sets them up. Taking the time to heal from his injuries, the Hero steps out only to be greeted by fire ball attacks from the Reds who are out of his reach. He tries using his bow but it is knocked out of his hand by the browns who proceed to gang up on him.
Unable to take it, the Hero uses Force Push to clear a path and he summons a ghostly monster in armor making clicking sounds and ethereal swords to aid him in his time of need. The Hero gains the upper hand, slaughtering many minions as the Browns and Greens can barely get close to him with his alley and ghost swords attacking anything that gets in their way. The Blues help as much as they can but can barely keep up with the numbers of casualties. Then the greens leap onto the armored monster and proceed to stab it until it dies, and the ghost swords dissipate giving the Minions an opening. Not giving the Hero a chance to use his weapon, he sheaths his sword and conjures a bright fiery seal (Inferno’s Wrath) surrounding his area. Finally he lets loose the powerful attack that incinerates all the minions attacking him. Just as it's over, the Overlord reappears in black spiked armor falling from the sky. Summoning fire to his fist, the Overlord collides his Magic with the Heroes Will, creating a massive explosion destroying Oakvale. The
Smoke clears, revealing a massive cratered of the once peaceful home now gone forever. The remaining minions gather themselves from the rubble and surround the pit to see who is left standing. Their master emerges out of the fire to their joy, protecting himself with an invisible barrier. He walks to the center's new battleground, wielding a black sword glowing red, the “Sword of Life-Stealing”. And the Hero who also survived thanks to his Physical Shield walks up to the Overlord wielding a demonic ancient blade glowing bright colors, the “Sword of Aeons”.
The two clash each other's blades against one another and proceed to the final round. The Overlord lets loose fast attacks with brute strength, but the Hero blocks and even rolls out of each attack return a stronger attack. But this time, the hero’s flesh begins to burn as if it spontaneously combusted for a bit. This gives the Overlord the chance to attack him, draining the Heroes life into his own giving him a challenge. The Hero strikes again but then is shocked by the Overlords shield stunning him long enough for the Overlord to knock the sword out of the Heroes hand and prepares to take the final blow.
However, the Overlord is stopped to a near crawl as time itself is frozen leaving the Hero unaffected. Glaring at him, the Hero smirked and swooshes behind the Overlord using a golden curved sword and impales the knight. Taking the chance, the Hero lept for his lost sword and used it to impale the Overlord once more and decapitated the Overlord leaving the dark master without his head, resuming time.
Dumbfounded, the minions surround the Hero in silence. Feeling his fight is not over yet, he is then amazed when the minions began to cheer and praise the Hero calling him the new Master. As if things couldn't get more crazy, he hears a second voice in his head.
“Well congratulations hero, you have defeated our master and saved the world. However, we minions are nothing without an Overlord, so I’m here to offer you the position. Your minions are here to serve you in your every need, conquering Albion will be easier with our aid”.
“Preposterous”, Guildmaster intervenes. “The boy will never stoop this low and betray the world for power, right lad”?
Pondering over Gnarl’s offer, the hero replies with an evil laugh that shudders the Guildmaster.
"Oh Avo protect us for what's to come".
K.O.[]
Most epic larping fight ever!
So a couple things to note. The Overlord has destructive magic on hand and can affect the heroes actions if he wanted to. From slowing him down to confusing him and yes even turning the hero to his side with his Domination magic. However, the Hero can do what the Overlord can and then some. The Hero can use his surround magic to heal and shield himself making him almost impossible to attack. Not to mention the Sword of Aeons (or Avo's Tear) has the power to kill the Court of Blades and even warp continents depending on the lore of Fable. And that's where it all comes down to, the Lore of the Sword of Aeons and the Tower Heart.
Since the Overlord's power is directed from the tower heart and when it is affected it effects his control over the minions and his magic. During the story of Overlord 2, when the Tower Heart was destroyed it took the Dark Tower, Mellow Hills and Evernight with it. However, the Sword of Aeons defeated the Court of Blades who from the lore could burn, flood the world of Albion and destroy mountains as well. Even if we say they're on par with the world, The Heroes feats and bloodline made him far more superior than the Overlord could. And if you think about, anyone could be the Overlord, but the Hero has the bloodline to rival against evil.
The Overlord
+ Better minions to aid him
+ More Destructive magic
- Limited Mana supply
- Slow
- Lacks counter attacks
The Hero of Oakvale
+ More magic spells
+ Different ways to regenerate
+ Better counter attacks
+ Faster, Stronger and more agile
The Winner, is the Hero of Oakvale
Trivia[]
- Similarities
- Both silent protagonist/antagonist
- Fairy Tale like stories
- Two good and bad endings in their games
- Every choice they make affects the world they live in
- I'm using the sequels for reference to determine certain strength feats and possible speed feats. Since Overlord had a child with similar attributes like controlling minions and shaking the very area with his weapon swings and the Hero of Oakvale's bloodline makes him the chosen one to save/ruin Albion it makes sense to use the sequels as reference.
- The Soundtrack will either be "Battle of Good and Evil" or "Fable of the two Knights"
