History[]
Origin and Birth[]
The true identity of the Horned Serpent is none other than, George Washington, the first would-be president of the United States of America. When he was 6 years old, Washington chopped at his father's cherry tree with a hatchet, similarly to the famous myth. Unbeknownst to the young boy, this was not a regular cherry tree and the child was dragged from the Earth to a Wonderland where he was stretched and corrupted into a serpent-like form. From then on, the serpent would reside underneath the Earth and shape the course of history while two doubles of Washington were used to act as him in office.
The Suez Canal[]
For a reason unexplained, the Serpent commands architect Ferdinand de Lesseps to build the Suez Canal by telepathically talking to him and invading his dreams until he caved. He reveals this event in an interview about the Canal's creation, after he decides to read the speech he would have used in order to lie about the true reason behind the canal.
Maize Machines and Their Rise to Power[]
Maize Machines was founded by Rob Careers and Rob Watroba in 1960, and would quickly begin overtaking the technological market, growing across America in only eleven years, in a suspiciously snakelike pattern with the manufacturing plant locations. They were also aided in growth by President James Dean. He would go on to establish the Department of Technology in 1969, allowing billions of tax dollars to technological development through major technological corporations. A year later, Maize Machines, now known as simply Maize, would go on to create the first video camera and home computer.
Project Horned Serpent[]
Maize then decides to collaborate with the Department of Defense in 1972 to "... initiate the first system to control the True Forces of Mass Destruction (TFMDs).". The project to create and enact this system would be called "Project Horned Serpent". The plan was, presumably, to attempt and control the serpent for either their own purposes, or for the protection of the U.S. The serpent has electrical capability, so some have came to the conclusion that some aspect of the serpent aided in this rapid advancement in Maize technology, while also allowing Maize to be close to the other monuments. This project would be in action for eight years, before Maize is attacked in an unspecified location, most likely in the Pennsylvania manufacturing plant, as that is where the head of the serpent is. This attack was a consequence of the ADA's attempt at Unification in 1980, where they tried to awaken the Serpent in order to fracture the borders of the United States in their own image, and freeing it from it's burial. In the picture we get to see, electrical arcs fly throughout the air, with several spikes coming out the buildings. These spikes could be Special Trees, but evidence for this is limited at best.
Aftermath[]
Maize begins mass recalling all personal computer devices after the events of 1980, describing the issues as outbreaks being reported. It is unclear what these outbreaks are, but it is caused by some relation between the serpent and all personal computers. After ten years of recall and destruction of personal computers, the last one is destroyed in a public display in 1990, with Maize calling it a "New Beginning". Maize then places heavy restrictions on the level of technology that can be used, especially for communication, and in 2000 released a device called a "Maize Movie Maker", essentially being equivalent to early 2000s computer editing devices, and statically staying that way thereafter, highly similar in functionality to Windows Movie Maker. They apologize for these past mistakes and explain this history through an advertisement for the Movie Maker. They later would also limit what mobile devices you could have for communication, limiting social media to seemingly a singular main forum site, via devices called T-Machines, with similar user interfaces to brick phones. These T-Machines would allow you to use the site "TWTTR", an archaic Twitter-esque site where you can make forum posts and comment what you want about posts, with like and reshare features. These devices are regularly used in 2021.
Unification of 2003[]
After the Air Force One Angel is recovered by the ADA after it was shot down by the U.S. government in 2003, it is used by the organization in order to create a jolt large enough to awaken the Horned Serpent and free it from the ground below the United Zones of America. This essentially fractures the Zones into thousands of pieces, making the borders meaningless and unfixable for the next century.
Maya and Nathaniel Arnoldson's Expedition[]
Seemingly sometime in the 2010 to 2020s, Maya and Nathaniel Arnoldson would take an expedition to a former Maize Manufacturing plant in Pennsylvania. They would explore the site a bit graffiti the building first, with phrases such as "BEWARE THE MONUMENTS, THEY ARE ALL CONNECTED" and "THE MILITARY-INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX GROWS." They follow a flight of stairs they find within the building, that eventually lead to a small cave. They explain that the air is physically charged, with no devices or lights to be found, nor a single sign of life. They ponder what happened, before looking at a seemingly classified map of the site. Due to the poor censoring done by Maize, we can clearly see that the map details a giant snake like creature in full form below the facility, as they point to it, conforming to each other where they must go. They then test how charged the air is, going to touch some water, before one of them receives a massive static shock. The video then cuts to them hearing howling sounds of charged air and the zaps of electric arcs, before the camera turns to show the head of the serpent looking at them. They then edit in a part saying that the serpent hasn't been fed, as seen above, before Maya and Nathaniel credit themselves. This video was confiscated by Maize, and later censored in some areas, after the death of Maya by Freedom.
The Great Division[]
As a result of the clash between Freedom and the Airforce One Angel, a large hole the Earth's crust is created which allows the Horned Serpent to inexplicably emerge from the Earth, completely destroying it. This event is known as The Great Division. It also unleashes the Special Trees to expand across the universe and turns the world into the Cornerworld, where the survivors of the event become the Cornerfolk.
Following the Great Division, Richard Nixon would ultimately kill the Serpent using his newfound powers and escape his destroyed universe into another, taking the Serpent's skull to use as a helmet for the D-Day Knight.
