History[]

The true origins of the Borg is not known at this time, except that as of the year 1484 they controlled only a few solar systems. After that point, they spread throughout the Delta Quadrant of the Milky Way Galaxy, assimilating quite a few peoples and cultures. Rumors of the Borg reached the Federation in the 2350s, leading to the first assimilation of humans, including Annika Hansen (later known as Seven of Nine) and the crew of the Federation starship, USS Tombaugh.

In the year 2365, the entity known as Q moved the USS Enterprise where it could encounter the Borg and yet return to inform the Federation of what to expect. The very next year, 2366, the Borg invaded the Federation, assimilating Captain Jean-Luc Picard, and destroying 39 Federation starships. During the 2370s, however, the Borg were distracted by setbacks in the Delta Quadrant, including the highly destructive Borg-Species 8472 War of 2373-2374.

In 2378, the Borg Collective suffered a crippling blow, when the Borg Queen was killed by the USS Voyager, and Borg were infected with a highly destructive neurolytic pathogen. It was believed that were still in existence as late as the year 2399.
