Intro[]
Boomstick - Let's be real - villains who attempt to take over the world and fail are literally everywhere in comics.
Wiz - But those who succeed in their goals, whether it be conquest, causing chaos or simply to feed their own ego, are able to stand tall among other villains.
Boomstick - Tetsuo Shima, the pint-sized telekinetic terror of Neo Tokyo
Wiz - And Tomurs Shigaraki, the Symbol of Fear.
Boomstick - He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick!
Wiz - And it is our job to analyze their weapons, armor and skills to find out who will win a DEATH BATTLE!
Tetsuo Shima Feeds His Ego In DEATH BATTLE![]
Note - The stories of the anime and manga of Akira have several differences. Since the manga came first, it shall be used as the source material.
Wiz - In 1989, a bomb exploded in the city of Tokyo, starting a third World War.
Boomstick - Or at least, that is what the government told everyone. Turns out, it was a lot more complicated than that.
Wiz - The people of the military of several countries were trying to create a new weapon, a psychic warrior. These espers were meant to destroy anyone who opposed their countries and help fight battles were hundreds of military of soldiers would fail. They succeeded in creating one such soldier, a young boy named Akira. However, he wasn't fond of the idea of being used as a weapon, and so he-
Boomstick - Nuked Japan. Man, the Japanese can't catch a break, can they?
Wiz - That is a sensitive topic. Let's not talk about it.
Boomstick - Alright, fine. Well, anyway, the Japanese Military were afraid that Akira would rise again, or that some idiot may bring him back. So, hiding the story about Akira as a bomb sent by an enemy nation, they began working on a way to try to control Akira, putting him in suspended animation until further use.
Wiz - Now, let's skip to about the year 2030. The people have slowly began to recover, and have started living in a post-war society. This brought forth things like motorcycle gangs, deliquency and drug dealing. One motorcycle group in particular was particularly deliquent - the Capsule Gang.
Kaneda
Boomstick - Led by Kaneda, one of the coolest cats around. Gets the hottest chicks, beats the baddest punks and pops the coolest rigs!
Wiz - Then there was the little brother of the group, Tetsuo Shima. He was none of those.
Boomstick - Arrogant, reckless, and a bit condescending, Tetsuo was always trying to one-up Kaneda, trying to prove himself the better man. This ego was perhaps his biggest trait, which became even more evident when he nearly ran over a kid.
Boomstick - That definetally should have killed him. But he survived and was chosen by the military to be another esper. Which was definetally a poor choice on their part when his powers came up. So, Tetsuo went from a biker to a literally pint-sized kaijiu. Definetally not a good day for the military.

Wiz - Tetsuo's greatest ability is his psychokinesis, which allows him to move anything with his mind. This ability grows over time thanks to a "connection to the universe", allowing him to grow stronger with each passing day.
Boomstick - One of the things he enjoys doing the most with telekinesis is tearing a man's skull apart with his mind. Like this.
Wiz - That isn't his only ability. He can create barriers that allow him to block just about anything, lift himself in the air and fly, and even use his powers to create gravity wells. But he isn't limited to just telekinesis.
Boomstick - He can read minds, teleport, travel to locations as a bolt of lightning and even regenerate. Heck, he was once shot in the stomach, and he regenerated with ease. Though he is unable to heal if he lost a limb, so he simply absorbs metal to make a new arm. Kind of how he got his new metal one.

Wiz - During his time with the military, he was attacked by Kei, a young woman who was hanging out with Kaneda at the time. The two fought each other, and that was when Tetsuo learned about other espers, including Akira. Coercing one of the scientists into telling him where Akira was, Tetsuo went on a rampage to find and awaken him.
Boomstick - And he did. It took him dodging lasers, wrecking a Sol Satelite, losing an arm and destroying most of Japan, but he succeeded in his goal. Then he and Akira worked together to form the Great Tokyo Empire! Annoiting himself dictator, Tetsuo continued feeding his ego by basically acting like a complete dick. Like a 'Dicktator'? Hahahahaha!
Wiz - That was... actually the least horrible way you could put it. Eventually, Kaneda and his allies rallied up to battle against Tetsuo, leaving him little choice but to fight.

Boomstick - But who would want to battle a guy who can jump to the moon faster than sight, cratering it and causing an 8.5 Magnitude earthquake? You would have to be crazy to battle him!
Wiz - However, Tetsuo has one major weakness. Overuse of his powers could cause an overwhelming headache. All that someone would have to do is overwhelm him and -
Boomstick - He would become this!
Wiz - Okay, so it makes it even harder. This form, described as Ego Death, has a few benefits, among them the ability to release a blast that is similar to "the birth of a universe", or a big bang, but Tetsuo has little or no control over it. As a result, Tetsuo's rule ended with a bang.
Boomstick - That was horrible. But yeah, it ended with every esper losing powers, showing that such power shouldn't be used lightly. However, Kaneda, honoring his friend, formed the Great Akira Empire to honor his friend, giving his the respect he so desperately wanted.
Tomura Shigaraki Destroys DEATH BATTLE![]
Wiz - Nana Shimura - seventh wielder of One For All and master to All Might - wanted more than anything to raise her son Kotaro. However, fearing that All For One may come for him due to their connection, she instead placed him in an orphanage and never returned. This left Kotaro bitter, causing him to hate heroes more than anything.
Boomstick - Ironically, that didn't deter his son Tenko Shimura from wanting to be a hero himself. This desire increased when he saw the photo of his grandmother in her hero costume - which pissed off his father so much that he dragged him outside and wouldn't give him any dinner. What a terrible father.
Wiz - This trauma - along with the fact that Tenko's family didn't do anything to help him - caused the young boy to feel an anger in his heart. This anger also caused his quirk to activate - a quirk that is known throuhout the community as Decay. He used this to kill his family, with his final victim being his father.
Boomstick - This trauma caused him to forget everything, and he began to wander the streets in shame. No one bothered to help him, believing that a hero would come and save him. Poor kid.
Wiz - Eventually, he was found by the very man Nana had tried to hide her family from, All For One. The villain took him under his wing and began training him to become the next Symbol of Evil. From that day on, Tenko Shimura gained a new name, and a new mission - to destroy society's sense of security, and show them how corrupt society is. He became Tomura Shigaraki.

Boomstick - In the beginning, Tomura nly wanted to destroy things for destructions sake. After the failure of the attack on the USJ, the arrest of the Hero Killer, and discussing matters with his archenemy Izuku Midoriya, he eventually found the conviction he needed to actually start thinking ahead.
Wiz - Tomura may be a man-child of sorts, but he is a clever strategist and analyst, able to deduce weaknesses of others defenses in battle. Like when he deduce Eraser Head's weakness with his quirk and managed to deal a painful blow on the hero.
Boomstick - That doesn't really look that painful. I mean, I am sure he could walk it off.
Wiz - According to Tomura, his quirk is able to turn whatever he touches with all five of his fingers to 'turn to dust'. This statement means he is able to completely vaporize his victims with a single touch. Unfortunately, his past trauma made it impossible for him to use that power.
Boomstick - Time for the rocky montage, in which Tomura took on Gigantomachia for at least a month and a half with only three hour breaks - every forty-eight hours. After said training, the Meta Liberation Army called him over and challenged him to a battle to the death. That was when Tomura's power got a real upgrade.
Wiz - We already covered this feat before, and have stated that it was about 2 petatons of tnt. However, it may have become stronger over time thanks to the Doctor's experiments.

Boomstick - With this experiment, he became on par with Prime All Might, a guy who could punch with enough force to change the weather while in his weakened state. Imagine. In addition, he has the All For One Quirk, which allows him to steal any power he desires so long as he is touching the person. Among the powers he has are his master's trademark Air Cannon and Rivet Stab, Radio Waves in case someone is beating you in a video game, heavy payload for enhancing his strength, Super Regeneration that would allow him to heal from a head and many other abilities. Though they did come at a price.
Wiz - Right. Turned out All For One was playing Tomura for the whole time, and was really using him as a tool to get his hands on One For All. Apparently, Tomura's raw hatred would be enough to get past nine generations of rebels who had resisted him for over a hundred years.
Boomstick - And I thought Dio was bad. This guy makes him look like a mere play boy.
Wiz - Anyway, people thought that Tomura was such a threat that they literally all rounded up to stop his awakening. That proved to be a mistake as Tomura used his quirk to eliminate almost every pro there and attempted to do his master bidding, albeit unwillingly. He was even able to take down Endeavor, one of the most powerful heroes alive. And he beat him with ease.
Boomstick - For record, this was Tomura not using his quirks.
Wiz - After escaping, Tomura freed All For One from prison, and began doing what he wanted to do his entire life - destroy the society that ruined his life. People saw him as a complete threat, so much so that they sent the reality warping Stars and Stripes to battle him, but Tomura defeated her with little difficulty. This is just among one of the many things he did that caused people to consider surrendering to the Demon Lord.

Boomstick - On the day of All For One's attack on the world, Tomura was locked in a floating coffin, where he fought against all of UA's greatest students and heroes. That was when he revealed his most devastating ability - his Singularity Power.
Wiz - He can manipulate his body to shapeshift, allowing him to adapt to any situation, molt like a caterpiller and even harden his body to create a shield.
Boomstick - All For One definetally chose the perfect weapon. Shame that he broke out of his control. Nothing can stop Tomura from conquering the world - nothing except Izuku Midoriya.
Wiz- never was there an enemy able to bring the world to its knees like Tomura Shigaraki, the Symbol of Fear.
Pre Battle[]
Wiz - All right, the combatants are set. It is time to end this debate once and for all.
Boomstick - It's time for a DEATH BATTLE!
BATTLE[]
Tetsuo Shima sat on his throne, looking at the destruction he had caused. He smiled, thinking about what else could be done to control his new empire.
Tetsuo - I cannot wait to build this empire. Soon, all of the world will recognize me as the greatest person alive!
Tomura - I do believe that is unlikely.
Tetsuo reised an eyebrow, then looked up. He saw a strange creature flying in the air. Using telekinesis, he flew up to get a closer look.
He wasn't sure what shocked him more, the creature, or the boy riding it.
Tetsuo - Who are you?
Tomura - I am Tomura Shigaraki, and I am here to take your throne.
Tetsuo raised his hand and aimed it at the Decaying villain.
Tetsuo - Wrong answer, douchebag! You're in Akira turf now!
With that, Tetsuo struck Tomura with a wave of psychic energy, sending him flying. Tomura quickly used his strength to get his bearings, while the Nomu flew into multiple buildings. Not caring, Tomura blasted an Air Cannon at Tetsuo, but the dictator of the Great Tokyo Empire summoned a barrier to block the attack. Tomura smirked, impressed by that power.
Tomura - Telekinesis. What an interesting power.
As he landed on the ground, Tetsuo flew above him, his back towards the city.
Tetsuo - If you enjoyed that, then have another!
Using his powers, Tetsuo lifted a massive building from the city and threw it at Tomura. However, much to his surprise, Tomura simply touched it and the building turned into dust.
Tetsuo - Disintegration? Not bad! Shame it is no match for my power!
Tomura rolled his eyes in irritation and charged at the boy.
Tetsuo continued using his telekinetic powers to lift buildings and throw them at Tomura. Using his modified body, Tomura jumped from building to building, while also smashing several buildings with his strength. As he approached Tetsuo, he used Air Cannon to distract the young man, then, while Tetsuo shielded himself from the front with his psychic barrier, Tomura snuck up behind him and struck him with a Rivet Stab, cutting off his arm.
Tetsuo - Agghhh!
As Tetsuo fell to the ground, Tomura blasted an Air Cannon to send him flying through the air. As he did, Tomura smiled sadistically.
Tomura - Yeah, I definitely hate you. You're too full of yourself.
Tetsuo got to his feet and used his telekinetic powers to send some metal to where his arm was. Absorbing the metal, he grew his arm back. Tomura smirked, then charged, his speed causing a shock wave that shattered multiple windows. As he was about to grab Tetsuo, he was suddenly stopped in the air. He looked at Tetsuo, who was seething in rage and his body glowing from a red aura.
Tetsuo - I'll kill you. I'LL KILL YOU!
He then telkinetically sent Tomura across the streets, causing him to crash into a building and sending it crashing down. As Tomura stood up, he suddenly felt his body get crushed by some sort of force. He felt as though he were being crushed by his own weight.
Tetsuo - You're history scumbag! No one messes with Tetsuo Shima and gets away with it!
With that, he charged at Tomura and punched him into the sky. As Tomura was sent flying into the air, Tetsuo grabbed two buildings and smashed them into each other, hoping to crush Tomura. However, the Symbol of Fear grabbed the two buildings and destroyed them. Tetsuo, seething in rage, charged forward and tried to strike Tomura, but was shocked to find that the young man had changed into a completely new form.
The sudden growth of fingers caused Tetsuo to hit some flesh, disgusting Tetsuo. This distraction gave Tomura the opening he needed to smack Tetsuo into the ground. As Tomura attempted to strike Tetsuo, the younger boy teleported away and began using the power to teleport around the villain, striking him multiple times. That was when Tomura awoke his second form.
The second form allowed Tomura to absorb the blows, protecting him from the attacks. Tetsuo, frustrated, used his telekinesis to send Tomura flying into the sky. Tomura quickly recovered and charged at Tetsuo. The two clashed, sending a shockwave that caused a massive earthquake.
All around them, the buildings lost their structural integrity and fell apart. A hurricane formed above them, threatening to destroy the whole city. However, neither side backed down. They knew that the world wasn't big enough for the both of them. One of them had to die.
Tetsuo then grabbed Tomura by the neck and began strangling him. He glared at Tomura, and the the heir of All For One's head began to swell. Tetsuo was going to tear his skull in two! In response, Tomura quickly blasted another Air Cannon at Tetsuo, sending him flying. He then charged at Tetsuo, kneeing him in the stomach, before grabbing him and began using All For One on him.
Tomura - You're tough, I give you that! Which is why I'll be taking your powers... and your life!
Suddenly, Tetsuo body began to swell up. A massive protusion came out of his arm, causing Tomura to step back. As the arm grew, it struck Tomura, sending him flying into a fallen building. As Tomura got to his feet, he saw what Tetsuo became and gasped in disgusted horror.
Tomura - What the hell is that?!
Suddenly, he heard a voice in his head, screaming in agony. He looked at the creature, puzzled.
Tetsuo - Tomura! Help! The pain! It... It's too much! Please! Save me!
Tomura took a deep breath, and then molted his Absolute Defense Form to completely remove all his injuries. If the boy wanted death, then he'll get it.
Suddenly, tendrils came out of Ego Death Tetsuo's body, trying to grab Tomura. The villain dodged each attack, trying to reach the grotesque figure. As the villain continued releasing tendrils, Tomura realized that he needed to act fast if he was to kill this monster. He then looked down at the ground and smiled.
As he touched the ground, cracks appeared and began spreading throughout the city. At the same time, Ego Death Tetsuo released his explosion, threatening to butcher Tomura. Thinking fast, Tomura turned around and grabbed his head just as the explosion overwhelmed him.

BOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMM!
A massive explosion covered the city, while a wave of decay struck everything on the ground. Everything in the city - the people, the buildings, the cars - everything was either destroyed by the blast or disintegrated by the Decay Wave.
When the dust was settled, everything was completely destroyed, with only a barren landscape remaining.
THUD!
Voice - Oww!
Tomura's head landed on the ground. He gritted his teeth, and suddenly, bones began to come out of his head. These were followed by muscle, flesh, veins and other parts of the body. He got up, not caring that he was completely naked. He then turned to the Ego Death Tetsuo's Body, now formed into a statue made of dust. As the wind blew past him, the corpse began to fall apart. Tomura then heard a voice in his head.
Tetsuo - Thank you.
Tomura smiled.
Tomura - It's what I do.
With that, he turned around and walked away from the ruined city.
Analysis[]
Boomstick - Wow! Look like Tomura was a head of the competition!
Wiz - That is the best way to describe how Tomura won - by being ahead of Tetsuo. Now, on paper, Tetsuo did seem to have a far superior advantage. His power and speed alone meant that he could easily overpower Tomura.
Boomstick - But Tomura fought people who had a superior powerlevel to him and won before, like when he went up against Stars and Stripes.
Wiz - Also, while Tomura had plenty of time learning how to use his powers, and how to be a leader, Tetsuo simply relied on brute force, showing that Tomura had a more tactical mind.
Boomstick - So in order to see who would win this fight, we had to look at their powers. Turned out, Tomura had a far more better versatile skillset than Tetsuo.
Wiz - Don't get us wrong, Tetsuo's regeneration is impressive, but when he lost his arm, it took him months to grow it back. Tomura, on the other hand, could regenerate any limb he wanted, so long as his head was intact.
Note - While Tetsuo could destroy Tomura's skull and thus end the battle, he needed to be near the target to use it, and had to concentrate to do it. Tomura could take advantage of this opening and use a mass decay to kill Tetsuo, similar to how characters like Kaneda did in their first tussle.
Boomstick - But the regeneration wasn't the only thing that Tomura had over Tetsuo. His Decay Quirk could literally counter any projectile Tetsuo sent, and, because it can turn whatever connected to it into a deadly projectile, all Tomura needed was to land one blow on Tetsuo and he was dead.
Wiz - Tetsuo could put his body back together, sure, but complete disintegration - is definetally more than he could handle. Not only that, but Tomura had ways to control the fight. Assuming All For One gave Tomura every quirk he stole over the years, it is possible that Tomura could bring Tetsuo to his location via Mud Warp, and track his movements via Search, instantly removing any possibility of Tetsuo controlling the field for long.
Boomstick - Another advantage was that, while Tetsuo's powers, when overexerted, caused him massive headaches, Tomura's powers didn't. This meant that Tetsuo was always going to be fighting the pain in his head while Tomura would have no such handicap.
Note - Tetsuo could attempt to read Tomura's mind, but the willpower that Tomura possesses is able to destroy a man like All For One. Considering this, it is possible that Tomura's willpower could overwhelm Tetsuo, weakening him the way Akira did.
Wiz - The biggest thing would be their Transformations. Tetsuo's form was very dangerous and was described as a 'birth of a new universe', but that is doubtful. The Big Bang was a sudden explosion of universal scale while Tetsuo's explosion seem more relatable to nuclear bombs. But the bigger issue is control.
Boomstick - Yeah, while Tetsuo didn't have any control over his mutation, Tomura did. This meant that Tomura had plenty of abilities that he could use the Transformations for, including recovering from all his wounds so he could finish Tetsuo once and for all.
