Trivia[]
- The connections between Sonic and Bomberman are:
- Hopeful morally righteous video game protags known for their optimistic nature and pure hearted actions but know when to take things seriously when there’s a big threat. Even teams up with friends, even previous enemies that sometimes help them fight for their planet.
- Inhabit supernatural worlds with different kinds of creatures and beings living in, with their race coexisting with humans as well. Loved by people due to saving it on multiple occasions. Having adventures across other worlds fighting massively sized mechas and monsters. Even Gods and Eldritch beings.
- Both start their journeys/games when they need to save human/animals from being captured by diabolical intelligent individuals (Kuro (when he was evil) kidnapping Lisa/Eggman using animals to power up his machines for his inferious plans). The rest was history for them, as they became the most influential and inspiring heroes in the world.
- Collected seven crystal colored gems demonstrated to have their own individual powers and abilities throughout their games (Elemental Stones from Second Attack/Chaos Emeralds in Sonic Superstars). Have been revived from the dead before with the aid of their friends using the same 7 gems as mentioned (Second Attack/Sonic 06). While special, there are other variations of these items just as powerful that exist (Bomb Elements/Sol Emeralds).
- Take on golden appearance with they equip/transform with objects (Gold Chip/Chaos Emeralds) that also allows them breathe underwater and move around with ease (even though Shiro doesn't need to, since he's a robot) instead of using other means of surviving (Power Gears/Bubbles).
- Been kidnapped and taken to disclosed locations where nobody would know where they are, in their secret bases of operations littered with traps and hazards while fighting off various threats along the way (Dastardly Bombers' Station in Super 2/Eggman Island in SegaSonic). In the end, accomplish their escape from prisonment while the places get destroyed in the process at the end.
- Had to venture through amusement parks and infamous with highly advanced technology, yet await insane killer evil robots to destroy the heroes. Designed by world conquering villains in their image where one is a futuristic sleek metropolis, the other being a robotic dark dystopia (Hige Hige Land and Mr. Meanie's Future World/Eggmanland).
- Legendary and mysterious sacred swords made to protect their homelands and worlds. Taking place in the middle ages (Sword of the Sun; Pocket Bomberman/Caliburn; Sonic: Black Knight)
- Constantly assisted by genius inventors during their travels and using their creations to help them get past obstacles (Dr. Ein/Tails).
- Had previously but equally important rivalry before, not only has their own journeys to tell, but also have major ties to their groups and the connection to 7 magical objects (Regulus/Knuckles). Once served under malicious power-hungry rulers as their right-hand man (Altair/Dr. Robotnik), down the line deciding to turn the tides as he assists the heroes in defeating the main threat all along.
- Rescued kind-hearted human princesses who come from a unique royalty ruling their kingdoms and looking out for their people (Princess Millian/Princess Elise). Serve as the "Damsel in Distress" role but are important in the plot in some way and reason the universe is safe at the moment (Millian managed to steal the enemy's data disk and be given to Bomberman/Elise restarting the universe)
- Acquainted with many wildlife critters in their past adventures, even from different planets like these life-forms that exist in several forms depending on where or how they are raised. With each having a different special powers from one another (Charaboms/Wisps). However, the most common they encounter most of the time are small creatures with stubby arms and legs, which one of them actually become trustworthy well known companions with the heroes (Pommy/Cheese).
- Friendly with stoic and sometimes distant people who come from another world entirely (Phantarion/Blaze's Dimension), sharing the same strong sense of justice and well regarded as a well known figure back at home. Normally they would deal with things their own way, but end up working together with them anyway which they got accustomed to (Max/Blaze). Unlike the main heroes, they are able to use certain elemental abilities willingly at any time (Electrokinesis through Electric Bombs/Pyrokinesis).
- Female side characters, both so happened to be named “Honey” (Honey/Honey the Cat), who entered in fighting tournaments related to their jobs, that they're also professions at as well (After the defeat of the Hige Hige Bandits, Miss Honey had been in a bad mood, since there was a lack of significant bounties and therefore a lack of cash. But when she received a letter inviting her to the Bomber Tournament, which would grant any one wish to the winner, she decided to join in order to wish for more money than she could ever need/Honey the Cat is a fashion designer, who is all about self-promotion. Participated in a fighting tournament herself to promote her brand). While associated with the main cast of characters who entered as well in the story with different reasons for themselves, and even faced them. However they lost against them but they're still good friends with (White Bomberman/Sonic). Despite their looks, they are more capable of putting up a fight. Combined with their strong competitive spirit and drive towards their desires.
- Serious but civilly soft-spoken warriors with a strong sense of honor and justice (Kotetsu; Samurai/Espio; Ninja) as well as their traditional japanese weapons (Kotetsu’s Traditional Sword/Espio’s Shuriken Stars). Mostly seen accompanying bossy short-tempered professionals, their most defined trait dreaming of getting rich. Overall they still care about their friends (Honey; Bounty Hunter/Vector; Detective).
- Rivalry against their darker evil counterparts, even similar in abilities, look almost identical in appearance except for things to tell the difference between them (Black Bomberman/Shadow). In a sequel game, they got arrested for a crime they didn't commit involving theft because of them, escaping jail to find and fight the real culprit (Bomberman 2/Sonic Adventure 2). Then later turn over to the good side in better terms, willing to help them with any big world ending threats. Also survived their supposed deaths which is surprising to say the least (Shadow sacrificing himself to save earth/Kuro in Planet Techno when it exploded).
- Befriended deadly robots/cyborgs who were used to serve evil diabolical scientists (Dr. Eggman/Bagaru), using robot/cyborg remnants (Gemerl is a Gizoid rebuilt from the remnants of Emerl by Doctor Eggman; Sonic Battle/The Five Dastardly Bombers ended up on Earth in a heap of wreckage; Super Bomberman 2) from a previous battle that plays a heavy plot point into the third installment of the series (Sonic Advance 3/Super Bomberman 3). However after their defeat, suffered heavy damage so much it rendered them immobile. Luckily we're found by young girls who happened to pass by them and helped them get repaired back to normal (Cream and Vanilla found Gemerl near a beach, he was taken to Tails who repaired Gemerl and removed the programming from Dr. Eggman/Mami found Golem in a forest and took him home with her, nursing him back to health).
- Pink dress wearing characters (Pretty Bomber/Amy Rose) who were previously saved from being kidnapped by genius inventors once on a very special event, they crashed upon (Neo Bomberman; White Bomberman and Black Bomberman along with many other combatants gathering together for the Bomberman Tournament/Sonic CD; Little Planet appearing at Never Lake for just one month a year). But still able to hold their ground on occasion and competent of fighting back, can use heart themed attacks (Heart Bombs/Storming Heart)
- Met artificially intelligent beings built with power of copying and utilizing various combat data from fighters, and considerably one the strongest opponent to face. However, they aren't devoid of being completely evil either (Deral/Emerl).
- International agencies whose main duty is to keep peace throughout their worlds, and a defense force against threats (The Justice Department/Guardian Units of Nations). One of the members being advanced robots (Fab/E-123 Omega).
- Their recurring foes are one of the most highly intelligent villains in the universe whose main focus is on world domination and destruction, and orders an army of robots they built to do their bidding (Bagura/Eggman). Created artificially intelligent machines with the purpose of not only serving them but also making them powerful enough to be used of defeating their long time nemesis (Devil Bomber from Bagura/Metal Sonic from Eggman), however they later on rebelled against their creators and decidedly to conquer the planet themselves (Owen in GB 3/Earth in Sonic Heroes). And after the doctor's previous battle (Super Bomberman 3/Sonic 3 & Knuckles), they have been quiet for a while and seemed to given up until they brought highly advanced loyal group of five robotic beings they would later be sent to destroy them again, along forcing the main characters to wrap through different locations/era's, and fighting them individually with each of the baddies having a set of unique powers and abilities different from one another.
- Faced menacing different colored mecha look-alikes with their only goal to best and counter the main protags (Yellow Mecha Bomber/Mecha Sonic Mark. 1), before facing their creators at the main base for the final confrontation against they're most recent deadliest machines (Dr. Robotnik in the "Death Egg Robot"/Mr. Mook in the "Spiderer" with Carat Diamond).
- An evil group of experienced fighters who used to serve under villains for exceptional abilities possessed to rival, possibly end the heroes and allies in an attempt to complete their plans from being foiled (Crush Bombers under Mujoe/Deadly Six under Dr. Eggaman).
- That consist of stereotypical brutes, powerful in terms of strength yet their intelligence is lacking and somewhat of a dimwitted doofus whose words are bumbling and slow, and is a bit of a slow-reacting (Megaton Bomber/Zemom).
- Flirtatious and materialistic female members of the group, sporting beautiful complexions considering themselves as top priority of their looks and very protective of it. Despite showing a lady-like composure most of the time, throws tantrums when it doesn't go their way and not being shy about it either. Sometimes even flirt with the heroes in and out of battle (Beauty Bomber/Zeena).
- Extremely overconfident and prideful blue clad fighters due having one advantage they have against anyone, believing that they would never be triumphed. Bears no shame in proclaiming how great they are (Master Zik; His Wisdom/Eagle Bomber; His Ability of Flight). At the end to be proven wrong as the heroes were able to outmaneuver them and acknowledged for their efforts.
- The most unpredictable and most psychopathic of their teams, being their greatest strength and greatest weakness in the battlefield and with an extreme appetite for violence and destruction (Assault Bomber/Zazz). Blinding them from rational thoughts unlike them, who at least maintain control over themselves. One of the many signs of deep insanity is their tendency to laugh maniacally while twisted in attacking erratically, succumbing to its ravaging bloodlust savagery.
- All of them being led by powerful beings, may not be the biggest or fastest, but are the most strongest and skilled to be qualified (Bomber Elite/Zavok).
- Deal with greedy and mischievous thieves, especially involved with sacred mystical gems which result in fighting each other to rightfully possess them (Mujoe/Fang). Managed to get hold of giantaic combative mechas they piloted in their respective boss battles (Mujoe's Mecha in Saturn Bomberman/Fang's Robot in Superstars). Involved in reawakening legendary monsters sealed away many years ago in the past to cause havoc again (Crator/Black Dragon), then later were sealed away once more by the heroes and their newly horned companions with spikes (Tirras with The Crystals/Trip with the Black Onyx). Followed by lackeys under their lead (Hige Hige Bandit/Hooligans).
- Gentle giants who are considered enemies but most of their interactions and actions say otherwise, viewed as easygoing and carefree strongmen (Pyro Commander/Bark the Polar Bear). While the nicest, unfortunately still hangs with the wrong crowd that gets them into trouble (Four Commanders/Hooligans).
- Younger but versatile adversaries brainwashed by diabolical scientists, wiped with no memories of their past as they were controlled to follow their every bidding. However, later on broke free from their control over them (Nitros/Surge the the Tenrec).
- Them and their friends were fooled and tricked by the manipulative antagonists (Mephiles/Sirius), they would eventually get what they wanted and try to rule everything through obtaining higher powers (Mephiles fusing with Ibiles/Sirius gaining power from the Omni Cube).
- Both have fought enemies told to be an ancient being that was sealed away years ago due to the fear of their destructive uncontrollable power, only to be unsealed years later due to unfortunate circumstances (Eggman awakening Dark Gaia from the Earth/When Rukifellth touched the Celestial Stone, it possessed him and took under control) which they also corrupted individuals becoming twisted versions of themselves due to its influence on them (The guardians of the temples were tainted by Dark Gaia's dark energy/Brainwashed all the Elemental Knights into evil Astral Knights). Which also brought back a pridominal entity of light itself in the plot (Mihaele/Chip).
- They both have had to team up on a being that was at god tier and was in between them and their entire universe/ timeline being erased from existence if they failed (Bomberman and Pommy against Angel of Light and Shadow in Second Attack/Sonic, Shadow, and Silver against Solaris in Sonic 06).
- Going through past locations and adventures they've gone to before, with certain events recreated long ago which already happened. Caused by interdimensional entities which most of the time takes place in a void (Terrorin in Super Bomberman 5/Time Eater in Sonic Generations). Even deliberately time traveled to the past and future through devices in order to prevent destruction caused by the main villains from ever happening (Kepo in Saturn Bomberman/Time Warp Signs in Sonic CD) in inhabited planets (Planet Bomber/Little Planet).
- Both are given a boost of power and many different abilities thanks to other lifeforms (Sonic gaining a different power up depending on what Wisps he absorbs/Shiro gaining different powers depending on the Memory Cartridges he uses).
- Both also have Mario Kart-like spinoff games (Bomberman Fantasy Race/Team Sonic Racing), pinball games (Bomberman Pinball/Sonic Pinball), and 2000's anime adaptations that aired on Japan in TV Tokyo (Bomberman Jetters/Sonic X), and both appeared in Smash Bros.
- Would come across someone under unfortunate circumstances (Tails was bullied and made fun of his tails before Sonic came along/Devil Bomber escaping banishment at Planet Owen, where Cute Bomber resides), woefully unaware of their genius in mechanics and engineering at first glance.
- Both have faced against ancient beings labeled as a "God of Destruction" (Sthertoth/Chaos).
- Battled against gifted psychics, which they never encountered before. Possess telekinetic abilities, which allows them to manipulate the environment with the power of their minds and focus (Bomber Elite/Silver the Hedgehog).
- Both have had a conflict involving technically two of the same person teaming up in a battle that involved the whole stability of the universe/timeline being at stake with their actions (Mihaele and Sthertoth as the Angel of Light and Shadow/Dr. Eggman and Dr. Robotnik).
- Both have even had a scuffle with Pirates that worked in association with a bigger villain that they worked under (Pirate Bomber and Subordinate Bomber under Terrorin/Captain Whiskers Crew under Eggman Nega) later showing the real big bad showing up to finish the fight they started and dwarfing them with big piloted machines (Terrorin in the Jiriringer / Both Eggmen in the Egg Wizard). Also the ship are named from an object that not only relates to their outward appearance and machinery **(The literal name "Jiriringa" is derived from the Japanese word "jiriri", the sound of an alarm clock/The Egg in the name "Egg Wizard")**.
- Contrast is that Nitros was not only able to break free of Bagura’s control, but also regained his memories and shortly sides with Bomberman. Surge still has no memory of her past and is still an enemy of Sonic, believing there's no other path for them.
