Description[]
Overwatch vs Apex Legends! A Death Battle between two gun wielding hackers that are also augmented by cybernetics and happened to start on their path by accidentally discovering a big scheme by a large organization.
Intro[]
(Cue Wiz and Boomstick )
Wiz: Hacking is the action of gaining unauthorized access to data in a system or computer.
Boomstick: And these two took this to the extreme.
Wiz: Sombra, the black bag operation hacker from Mexico.
Boomstick: And Crypto, the surveillance expert of the Apex Arena. He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick.
Wiz: And we are going to analyze their weapons, armors, and skills to find out who would win....
Boomstick: A DEATH BATTLE!
Sombra[]
(Cue Sombra Origins)
Wiz: Before taking up the alias "Sombra", Olivia Colomar was one of thousands of other children who became orphans during the aftermath of the Omnic Crisis.
Boomstick: Which was essentially a massive war between machines and humanity that lasted for a very, very, very long time.
Wiz: With her country's entire infrastructure in ruin she was lucky enough to even survive thanks to her expertise in manipulating others to get what she wanted and hacking technology.
Boomstick: She then joined and aided Mexico's Los Muertos gang, who believed that the rich and influential people benefited from the reconstruction of Mexico while those who were poor or in most need of help were left behind to suffer.
Wiz: As she grew up Olivia's skills in hacking improved to the point where she somehow stumbled across a global conspiracy that united several organizations from around the planet, including the famous Overwatch. As she began to investigate this "conspiracy" it eventually noticed her, causing Olivia to panic.
Boomstick: So she went into hiding because what else are you going to do when a freaking global conspiracy finds you sniffing around in their business!
Wiz: She quickly erased all traces of her existence and forced herself into isolation. Then she returned some time later with her new alias "Sombra" and an augmented body with hardware and cybernetics.
Boomstick: So now she's a cyborg hacker, wait a cyber hacker! I like the sound of that!
Wiz: Her passion of exploiting others earned her the respect of many, even the terrorist organization known as Talon, which she then joined. Though it does seem Sombra isn't entirely with Talon and still pursues on her own secret goals.
Boomstick: In combat Sombra utilizes stealth and attacks that weaken her enemies, making her a very deadly infiltrator. If her opponent happens to be critically injured she can detect them through walls. For her main weapon she wields a fully-automatic machine pistol that fires in a short-range spread.
Wiz: When it comes to hacking Sombra is no joke, capable of messing with any piece of electronic equipment with just a touch and even at a distance.
Boomstick: She took control of a giant mech by simply sliding her hand across it and hacked into the world's greatest security measures with no apparent effort! Though she needs some short time to hack equipment at a distance, the hacking process can also be interrupted if she happens to get hit.
Wiz: As for other abilities Sombra can turn herself invisible, which greatly increases her movement speed. However, if she attacks using any of her other abilities and weapons the invisibility will deactivate.
Boomstick: She also has her own self teleporter called a trasocater! Wiz you need to build me one of those.
Wiz: First, it is called a translocator. Second, that is a very bad idea that I don't see is going to end well. Anyway with this device Sombra can teleport to it at any time either using it as an escape plan or even to reposition herself during a fight.
Boomstick: And finally for her ultimate, Sombra can unleash a powerful EMP blast in a large radius around herself.
Wiz: This prevents all enemies caught in the radius from using their abilities, disables tech like turrets and teleporters, and destroys shields on targets.
Boomstick: Sombra isn't that bad of a fighter either. She was able to easily knockout and kill a group of trained soldiers in a matter of seconds, overwhelmed Katya Volskaya's personal guard with complete ease, and was fast enough to outrun professional soldiers and dodge some beams of energy from Zarya's particle cannon.
Wiz: Sombra is without a doubt one of the world's most notorious hackers to have ever lived.
Sombra: "Everything can be hacked... and everyone."
Crypto[]
(Cue Crypto's Theme)
Wiz: Living in the streets of Suotamo as an orphan when he was abandoned at a young age, Tae Joon was able to escape from this depressing life by joining the Mercenary Syndicate as their computer engineer alongside his foster sister, Mila Alexander.
Boomstick: The Mercenary Syndicate, as said by its name, is a group of various mercenary companies that supposedly brought "life and order" to the Outlands during the aftermath of the Frontier War. They are also in charge of their very own Hunger Games styled tournament called the Apex Games, which became pretty damn popular.
Wiz: One day while Tae Joon and Mila were working, they happened to accidentally come across a special algorithm secretly hidden within the Games' computer systems that can predict the winner and result of any match of the Apex Games. The Syndicate used this algorithm to rig bets of any Apex Game match.
Boomstick: This quickly caught the attention of some bad people as the next day Mila had disappeared without a trace, while Tae Joon was suddenly framed for her murder and became a wanted man.
Wiz: With the Syndicate searching for him and his reputation destroyed, he had no choice but to give up his identity, friends, and family in order to ease his journey for redemption. Additionally, Tae Joon joined the Apex Games by hacking its mainframe, adding himself to its records as a legend named Crypto, and blew up Kings Canyon's Repulsor Tower as a distraction. He did all of this in order to get closer to the people who framed him.
Boomstick: Crypto? Isn't that the name of an alien?
Wiz: Wrong Crypto Boomstick. Apex Legend's Crypto uses a wide variety of firearms from shotguns, sniper rifles, revolvers, guns that utilize energy, pistols, and machine guns.
Boomstick: He can wear body shields that increases his durability, allowing him to shrug off some gunfire and explosives before fully depleting.
Wiz: With the special boosters attached to the back of his jacket he can fly and glide through the air and slow his falls from high heights.
Boomstick: There are also different explosive toys that he can use like your typical frag grenades to something more advanced like an arc star, which sticks to surfaces and blurs vision on detonation exploding or thermite grenades that release a wall of fire!
Wiz: His primary gadget is his surveillance drone named Hack-
Boomstick: Personally a 5/10 name.
Wiz: -Which he can use to fly around the area, highlight closed and open doors, traps, and enemies in its line of sight. However, it can only fly 200 meters away and can be destroyed pretty easily.
Boomstick: If Crypto wants to go in close and personal he can use his drone as a little blade or club to give someone a hard bonk.
Wiz: As for his "ultimate" ability his drone can release an EMP blast in a 30-meter radius to deal damage to an opponent's shields, slow their speed, mess with their vision, and disable any traps.
Boomstick: Only problem with this is the fact that the EMP affects him as well so... yeah.
Wiz: Crypto is strong enough to shatter metal doors with several kicks, he got up fine after falling off of a several story building, fast enough to outrun and escape the Syndicate's forces, and is known to be one of the smartest legends in the arena.
Boomstick: He is also a pretty good fighter considering he battles in the Apex Arena without resting. When his team was pinned down by another squad he singlehandedly took them down with ease. Hell, the dude survived going in and out of the Shadowfall World which is an alternate dimension conquered by the edgy, robotic assassin himself, Revenant.
Wiz: With his brilliant mind and determination, Crypto won't let anyone stand in his way for his quest of redemption.
Crypto: "Better to die fighting than to live in fear."
Intermission[]
Wiz: The combatants are set!
Boomstick: It's time for a DEATH BATTLE!
DEATH BATTLE[]
(Cue Hacking Malfunction)
Crypto's drone scouts the perimeter of an abandoned omnic factory. When no enemies are to be seen he recalls Hack, thrusts his hands into his jacket's pockets, and proceeds quietly into the building. He looks around for hostiles while making his way around machinery when suddenly the lights of the building flicker on. His body tenses up as he hears some giggling and the sound of someone running around him.
Crypto: I know you are out here.
A pinkish glowing figure materializes on top of a stacked pile of crates, revealing herself to be Sombra. She waves at him, while Crypto just glares at her with a serious look on his face.
Sombra: Why so seria? You know its great to meet another professional hacker on the run.
Crypto: I have no time to talk. You have something of mine and I want it back.
Sombra: Oh you mean this? Why would someone like you want this?
Sombra waves a USB stick containing the secret algorithm to the Apex Arena. The Apex Legend stares at it while slowly putting his fingers on his wingman's trigger.
Crypto: That will help me redeem myself and allow me to get some payback on some enemies of mine.
Sombra: I see you are in a revenge-type phase, but sorry this belongs to me now. I mean, do you have any idea how much dinero I'll make with this on the black market?
Crypto: Hmph, then I guess I'll have to take it off your body.
Crypto takes out his wingman and unloads it onto Sombra.
FIGHT![]
(Cue Progressive Instrumental Rock)
Sombra runs to her side, dodging the gunfire and flipping over some crates. She takes out her automatic pistol and returns fire, which the legend quickly slides away behind a metal column. Crypto switches to his second weapon, a volt SMG, and lights up Sombra's location, who quickly ducks under the energy. The two hackers fire at each other for a little bit until Sombra throws her translocator in a safe spot.
Sombra: Always leave yourself a back door just in case.
She then turns herself invisible and sprints away. Crypto notices that she stopped firing. On his guard he decides to flank her by moving in on the next couple rows of pallet racks.
Crypto: You can't hide forever. Like a bug in a code once I find you I'll delete you.
Suddenly, a strange humming sound can be heard right behind Crypto.
Sombra: Gotcha.
He turns around to see Sombra aiming her gun at his forehead and attempting a headshot, but Crypto quickly reacts by using his SMG like a bat to disarm her. He fires several shots, which Sombra dodges by moving to her left and right. She jumps off the side of a machine and leaps over Crypto. She throws a hard kick to knock the SMG out of his hands. The two look at one another and walk forward for some hand-to-hand combat action.
Sombra: I know kung fu.
Crypto: I don't care.
Crypto throws a punch, which Sombra then grabs his arm and hip throws him to the ground. Crypto rolls back onto his feet and quickly blocks some hits with his arms. Seeing an opening, he slides in close, punching Sombra in the gut and then throwing an uppercut into her lower jaw. Sombra falls to the ground and rubs her jaw.
Crypto: Hack! Come to me!
Hack flies towards Crypto and transforms into its club form. He swings downwards at Sombra, who spreads her legs apart for the attack to miss. She spins back onto her feet while hacking a nearby robotic arm to swing at Crypto's chest and knocking him back. Crypto charges forward, but Sombra aims her hand at his drone and begins to hack it. The drone malfunctions, changing forms and moving randomly in different directions.
Crypto: Wha-what is wrong with you!?
Sombra: I may have did a little tinkering with it.
Crypto retrieves his wingman from its holster and fires it at the purple hacker. However, she teleports away to her translocator. In a safe area, Sombra makes a sigh of relief and cracks her knuckles. She turns herself invisible and recovers her gun. Next, she finds something interesting, a group of turned off and omnics. Meanwhile, Crypto at the moment is trying to get his drone under control to fix it. He eventually is able to shut it off and begins his work. However, he turns his attention towards the group of purple glowing androids rushing towards him.
Crypto: Great....
He puts away his drone and opens a bin, which contained a level 3 body shield and an RE-45 auto pistol. Crypto takes out several of the rushing androids by duel wielding his wingman revolver and the auto pistol. However he soon enough runs out of ammo. Two androids throw some heavy hits into him, but thanks to his body shield he is able to tank it. Backing away, he looks to his side to spot a control panel connected to a small crane, quickly flipping it open and activating it to smash the remaining robots to bits. Sombra though, deactivates her invisibility to take control of the crane for herself and orders it to slam into the Apex Legend, who immediately rolls out of the way of danger.
Sombra: Missed me?
She sprays her pistol from left to right. The gunfire lights up room. Crypto falls onto his side to duck under the bullets, he raises his drone into the air which highlights Sombra. Controlling the drone he knocks supplies off of some racks to distract Sombra. It works as she turns her attention towards the areas of the fallen supplies. Crypto randomly punches a hole into the side of a nearby crate and a pile of grenades (Used in the Apex Arena) spill out. Crypto picks them up and chucks the explosives in every direction. Arc stars and frag grenades blow debris everywhere while thermite grenades set the warehouse ablaze.
Sombra: Qué estás haciendo!
Crypto smashes open another crate and takes out a peacekeeper shotgun, spinning it with one hand and firing at Sombra who threw a translocator out of a window just before the bullets pierce her shoulder. She yells out from the pain and spins back behind cover. Smoke fills up the factory as it shakes from the destruction and falls apart. Crypto uses suppressing fire while making his way to an exit. However, Sombra unleashes a couple of bursts into his leg.
Crypto: AGH My leg! Gotta get out of here. Hack, stun her by activating EMP!
Sombra: Funny, I can do something similar! EMP activate!
Two electrical explosions erupt from the warehouse, which then shortly collapses to the ground. Several minutes after the destruction Crypto manages to crawl out with parts of his cybernetics still malfunctioning from the EMP blast. He sits down to take a breath and notices his opponent's weapon lying among the pile of rubble.
Crypto: This wasn't personal, you're just in my way.
Suddenly his body twitches violently and glows purple. He falls onto his stomach and looks up to see Sombra standing before him. He tries to raise his shotgun but it was a failed attempt.
Crypto: M-m-my b-bod-body!
Sombra: These translocators really come in handy in situations like these. Anyway, it was fun!
Picking up a long piece of rebar she thrusts it hard into Crypto's back, twisting it a couple times until all signs of life had left him.
Sombra smiles as she then examines the USB which to her surprise had unexpectedly been destroyed during the fight. With nothing else to do she walks away to tend her injuries while cursing in Spanish.
KO!
Results[]
Boomstick: Nothing cooler than seeing two hackers beat the shit out of one another!
Wiz: When comparing the two it is clear that they both have advantages over one another. Crypto is shown to be stronger as he can destroy metal doors with his kicks, he should be a little more durable since his body shields can shrug off gunfire and explosives until it is completely destroyed, and he has a bigger arsenal of weapons to choose from for different situations.
Boomstick: He can use shotguns for close range, automatics for spraying someone down, sniper rifles for far distances, and explosives for some destruction. This is way better than Sombra's small single auto pistol.
Wiz: However, some of that won't matter when Sombra is way faster as shown when she dodged Zarya's beams of energy and killing a group of soldiers before they could react.
Boomstick: Her ability to turn invisible also allows her to stay hidden from Crypto's sight. You can't hit what you can't see... unless you're lucky of course.
Wiz: Speaking of abilities, Sombra's are way better and efficient. Her translocator enables her to get out of tough situations and when damaging an opponent she can see them through walls.
Boomstick: On the other-hand Crypto mainly relies on his drone to do most of the work and once it is destroyed or disabled, Crypto is in trouble. What about their hacking skills Wiz?
Wiz: Well I'd say Sombra is a better hacker as well. She has been hacking ever since she was a young little girl, messing around with all types of people and breaking into secure areas. Like Crypto isn't a bad hacker either, but Sombra can take control of a humongous mech by just sliding her hand across it!
Boomstick: Looks like Crypto is getting buried with all the other dead hackers... in decrypt.
Wiz: The winner is Sombra.
