Both took up a new name (Bucky Barnes becomes the Winter Soldier and Jack Morrison becomes Soldier 76) and are now on a mission of committing justice in their won hands Both have an American theme, wore masks and are equipped with guns specifically made for them. This is the First episode of the Third season of Dandyclaw's Death Battle.
Interlude[]
Wiz: The super-soldier. A theoretical unit within an army capable of pushing the limits of the human body to their extremes.
Boomstick: And capable of winning just about any fight, despite their traumatic pasts.
Wiz: Soldier: 76, the former field leader of Overwatch.
Boomstick: And Bucky Barnes, Marvel's Winter Soldier. He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick.
Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win... a Death Battle.
Winter Solider is locked and loaded for Death Battle[]
Wiz: In the 1920, growing up in Brooklyn, NY wasn’t easy for a young Steve Rodgers. Due to his small size and weak physical appearance, he was constantly bullied and harassed by the older boys at school and his neighborhood.
Boomstick: But no matter how many times he got punched, kicked or beaten, Steve’s will not to quite could not be broken. But luckily for old Steve he had one thing the other boys didn’t: his bigger and better best friend James "Bucky" Barnes.
Wiz: Steve and Bucky had been closest friends since they were children and they did every together, from getting lunch to going on double dates. And not matter how many times Steve got into a fight he wouldn’t walk away from, Bucky would always be there to have his back.
Boomstick: Now that’s a bromance. So, when the attack on Pearl Harbor started World War II in 1941, both men jumped at the chance to sign up the United States Army and fight for their country. But honestly, Bucky mainly signed so he could attract women with the uniform and shoot bad guys for a living. Aw what a life.
Wiz: Although Steve Rogers was rejected from service due to his small stature, Barnes enlistment was accepted with flying colors and he eventually earned the rank of Sergeant and received high marks for his sniper training. Even though Barnes tried to cheer his friend up and wrote to Steve regularly, he could tell that his effort to brighten his friend’s spirit where in vein. But it didn’t stop him from trying. Why can’t you be like that Boomstick?
Boomstick: I was about to ask you the same question Wiz. But while on a mission, Bucky’s unit was captured by the evil organization HYDRA, where he was experiment on and tortured for weeks by the mad scientist Arnim Zola. Luckily for Bucky, hey that rhymes, he was later rescued by his buddy Steve, who had transformed in a tall and hunky super solider known as Captain America. Surprise B’’’’.
Wiz: Upon their return to the army, Barnes and Rogers formed the elite combat unit known as the Howling Commandos, a bunch of rowdy headstrong soldiers looking for a good brawl, to battle HYDRA leader, Red Skull.
Boomstick: But Bucky told Steve that he wasn’t following Captain America into battle, but he was following his friend who wouldn’t give up.
Wiz; Together the team were a fierce force to be reckoned with, destroying most major HYDRA operations and key science facilities throughout the years.

Boomstick: So Awesome. But since this is a comic book story, nothing good last forever. During one fateful mission to finally capture Zola in the Austrian Alps, Bucky was caught up in the ambush and plummeted hundreds of feet to his supposed doom. As no body was recovered, Bucky was presumed deceased and honored as a hero who died in service to his country. Luckily his sacrifice motivated Steve to take down Red Skull once and for all and save the world by sacrificing his own life. Don’t worry though, he ended up frozen in the Arctic for 66 years, where he was eventually found by S.H.I.E.L.D. in the early 21st century. He got to sleep for 6 whole decades, what I would give for that.
Wiz: I can arrange that (holding a freeze ray behind him). Although Steve tried adjust to his new surroundings, he couldn’t move on from the losses of his loved ones, especially Bucky. But after joining S.H.I.E.L.D and Avengers to continue fighting the good fight, he soon found himself being targeted by a mysterious masked individual who possessed a mechanical arm and superior fighting skills that matched his own. During one of their brawls, Steve was able to remove his stalker’s mask and saw that he was known other than his long-lost friend, Bucky.
Boomstick: WHAT!? Well turns out Bucky had miraculously survived the fall unbeknownst to his team, despite the loss of his left arm in the final process. Soon he was found once again by HYDRA, where he was subsequently brainwashed and armed with a new cybernetic arm in order to become their operative, known as the Winter Soldier. Dun Dun Duuuuuun!!!
Wiz: Over the next fifty years, the Winter Soilder become one of HYDRA’s most fearsome agents. He was sent on numerous assigments, where he would eliminate anyone who posed any kind of threat to HYDRA. From assassinations to bombings all over the world, you name it, he’s probably done it. Between all assassination missions, Winter Soldier would be put into a cryogenic stasis to ensure his longevity.
Boomstick: Poor man, having to awaken every so often just to kill someone only to but back to sleep with no free will, that’s no way to live.
Wiz: During an assassination attempted on Nick Fury, Winter Soldier was challenged by Steve Rogers, and after a long struggle, started to remember his past life thanks to some blows on the head. Now free to make his own choices, Bucky deserted HYDRA in order to remember his past and end his long, violent history. After a scuffle with the ruler of Wakanda, Barnes was given asylum in Wakanda by T'Challa and was placed in cryostasis until all HYDRA's control could be removed. With the help of T’Challa’s brainy little sister Shuri, Barnes was finally cured of his brainwashing, and joined the Avengers to start using his skills for good instead of evil.

Boomstick: And boy does he have a lot of skills. As a result of HYDRA’s experiments and his military background, Bucky’s physical strength was enhanced to the levels of superhuman conditions. The strength thanks to his metallic left arm aside, Winter Soldier's innate superhuman might alone rivaled that of Captain America's, able to use his legs and right arm to deliver strikes with exceptional force that can casually incapacitate and launch his opponents flying several meters away.
Wiz: Barnes speed was tremendously enhanced beyond the peak of human potential. His speed was equal to both Black Panther and Captain America, as he was able to stay ahead of them with a slight head start and match their speed in combat, countering their attacks and delivering his own.
Boomstick: Winter Solider can leap higher and further than normal humans, being able to leap onto the doors on a speeding truck and catch Captain America's shield being thrown at him at a high velocity.
Wiz: Winter Soldier is an extremely skilled assassin. Ever since beening brainwashed, he has lived in hiding with most of the intelligence community not knowing he even exists. He's been credited with over two dozen of HYDRA's most crucial assassinations s, including John F. Kennedy and Howard and Maria Stark.
Boomstick: I knew JFK’s death was a cover up. Anyway, Buck is also an extremely skilled and formidable hand-to-hand combatant and martial artist, excelling at improvisation and weapons handling, making him one of the most powerful and best fighters on the planet. He employs mixed martial arts that include elements of systema, karate, boxing, muay Thai, Krav Maga, and kali. This has allowed him to go to-to-toe with skilled combatants like Black Widow, Black Panther, Hawkeye, Punisher, Wolverine, and especially Steve Rodgers
Wiz: Besides his new mechanical arm, gifted by Black Panther made from pure Vibrainium, he has had access to multiple fire arms over the years and handling the with remarkable precision, even prior to being turned into the Winter Soldier, making him a skilled marksman, being able to handle firearms.
Boomstick: From sniper rifles to pistols, and even his trust combat knife, any weapon you put in his hands can make him a lethal killing machine.
Wiz: After Steve retired from the superhero business hand passed down the mantle of Captain America to Sam Wilson, AKA the Falcon, Bucky would act as a partner and mentor to Sam to help him prepare to role as the New Captain America during their battle against the rouge super terrorists called the Flag Smashers
Boomstick: Even after Sam gave up the mantle, deeming himself not worthy, Bucky did what he did best and became a supportive friend and shoulder to lean on when his friends needed him. Even after that glory hog John Walker became the Captain America, who reign didn’t last long, Bucky and Sam still managed to put aside their difference and work together take those pumped up teens down and also a renegade Walker. I knew that guy would make a terrible Captain America.
Wiz: Well could you blame him going rouge after witnessing his best friend partner get killed right in front of him. That has caused numerous heroes to go rogue in various comics
Boomstick: Okay you’ve got a point
Wiz: As skilled as a warrior as the Winter Solider is, he not without his faults and disabilities.
Boomstick: His bionic arm can be disabled by an EMP, has the same weaknesses as any mortal man, and is constantly haunted by the memories of his actions as the Winter Soldier
Wiz: He was nearly killed by Iron Man after he found out he was responsible for his parent's death, resulting in the Civil War between Superheroes.
Boomstick: Even so, Bucky is determined to put his past life as an emotionless killer behind him and face his new future head on.
Wiz: Perhaps Bucky can finally find the peace he always wanted in his life.
Steve Rogers: Bucky?
The Winter Soldier: Who the hell is Bucky?
Solider 76 has Death Battle in his sights[]
Wiz: The Omnic Crisis, a war against self-aware robots and humanity with both side fighting each other with all countries having hard time fighting back against the robots. It looked dark for humanity.
Boomstick: But then came Overwatch, Hooray we are Saved. This highly advanced super team was founded to stop the Omnics in their path and they eventually ended the war, and soon became a global peacekeeping force making advancements in scientific fields.
Wiz: There was German Crusader Reinhardt, the Egyptian expert sniper Ana Amari, time-jumping adventurer Tracer, and their fearless leader Jack Morrison. Despite his rather humble beginnings as the son of an Indiana farmer, Jack always felt like he had more to offer his country then farming crops.
Boomstick: So as soon as he could, he packed his bags and headed out to join the military, at just age 18. During his time in the army, his courage, skills, and accomplishments eventually caught the government's attention, and they admitted him and several others into the soldier enhancement program, amping up his abilities and strength, turning him into a "super-soldier". Sign me up for that stuff, I’d make an awesome super soldier, look I even made myself a new costume (pulling out a ridiculous looking outfit).
Wiz: Please putt that thing away. With these newfound skills, he was assigned to join the elite strike team Overwatch to fight against the Omnic forces, led by fellow super-soldier and close friend, Gabriel Reyes.
Boomstick: These two had a close relationship with each, but also an intense rivalry, like with all resident tough guys. After the Omnic war ended and Overwatch became a peacekeeping team, the team needed a new leader. Although Gabriel had been the worthiest choice, the government decide that Jack should be the new head honcho of Overwatch.
Wiz: Mainly because Jack had a better reputation of being a kindhearted and inspirational human being, instead of Reyes’ killer instinct and tactical prowess.
Boomstick: Well Reyes would have gotten my vote. Proudly, Jack was promoted to serve as Commander of Overwatch, and Gabriel was tossed aside to a different army unit.
Wiz: As time passed, Overwatch stretched to global influence, and Jack became the official face and mascot of Overwatch, a fearless leader among heroes and a symbol of hope and celebration.
Boomstick: Morrison lead Overwatch for twenty years and paved the way to a better future. Those were the good old days. They didn't last forever though. Dark times soon fell upon the team, as Overwatch got targeted by dissatisfied people, blaming them for the world's problems.
Wiz: Overwatch soon started facing backlash for a number of reasons, including for the existence of the Black Ops branch led by Reyes. Jack did the best he could to keep the group together and maintain peace with the community, but Reyes had finally had enough of Jack’s goody toe-shoes nature. The two then started coming to blows and Gabriel led a mutiny that destroyed Overwatch HQ.
Boomstick: Long story short, these tensions led to a big falling out, and Jack and Gabriel were lost in a massive explosion of the Overwatch HQ. Since no bodies were found, both men were presumed dead. Hey after that explosion, it’s hard to not presume them to be dead.
Wiz: But what the world didn’t know was the both men were very much alive, Jack having escaped and went into hiding while Reyes captured and recruited into the newly formed terrorist group called Talon.
Boomstick: Although Jack tried to stay hidden, he couldn’t stand the fact the organization that he saw as his family had been seen has criminals and disbanded by corrupt officials. I know I wouldn’t take that lying down.
Wiz: And neither did he. Jack could not stay in hiding forever, and decided to hunt down the ones responsible for the destruction of Overwatch. And so, he dawned a new uniform and took up the mantle of Soldier: 76.
Boomstick: So not the brightest origin story in Overwatch history, but not too bad.
Wiz: Soldier 76 is one of the most balanced characters in the Overwatch game. His speed, DPS, and range are all above average, and he is able to quickly escape or recover from enemy attacks. However, he's not the best at any one trait, so he must use his flexibility to adapt to the given situation.
Boomstick: With his Military training and skilled in hand-to-hand combat experience, he’s fought off combat-trained individuals and armed groups on his own. From Mexican gang thugs, to his rival turned enemy Reaper, 76 is always ready to throw down and get ugly.
Wiz: And thanks to his experimental enhancements, he now possesses superhuman strength, speed, and agility far greater than an average human.
Boomstick: And he wouldn’t be a complete Solider without some heavy-duty firework to launch his one-man war against the ones who brought down Overwatch. This comes in the form of his beautiful Heavy Pulse Rife. This baby comes packed with Automatic rounds and can fire explosive Helix Rockets
Wiz: He also carries with him a Biotic Field that cannot be destroyed by enemies and heals both himself and his teammates from serious injuries. He also has a Tactical Visor that allows him to lock on to individual targets for 6 seconds and speeds up his reload time
Boomstick: A shame that it cannot do headshot though, that’d be awesome. Say Wiz, house that prototype firearm that you said you were working on six months ago.
Wiz: Oh yeah it still in Beta phase, but I promise I’ll let you know as soon as it’s ready (crossing his fingers behind his back).
Boomstick: Yeah Okay. Anyway, since leaving his Overwatch days behind, Soldiers 76 has pulled of some incredible feats.
Wiz: He’s Defeated the Los Muertos Gang all on his own, caught in a grenade blast and emerged alive, with minor injuries, and destroyed a truck with his Helix Rockets
Boomstick: Luckily, Jack wouldn’t have to fight in war alone. He eventually crossed path with his Egyptian sniper friend Ana Amari who became his traveling companion and partner in crime. Or should I say justice.
Wiz: Together the tracked down and defeated Reaper, aka Gabriel Rayes, who had become so disfigured that is shocked them both to their cores. Despite their pleas for Gabriel to come with them, Reyes had made his choice, proofing that he was no longer the man he used to be.
Boomstick: A selfish prick who showed no mercy. But at least the had each other, continuing their mission to take down all ones responsible for Overwatch’s downfall, while still keeping in contact with their loved ones. Anna sending letter to her husband and daughter, while Jack watching over his boyfriend Vincent, yeah he’s gay get over it.
Wiz: Sure, Jack Morrison is a legendary individual with tones of accomplishment to add to his hero resume, he does have a few failures to list as well.
Boomstick: Just a few, like how he is relatively old, aging at around 55 to 60 years old, more than old enough to retire from fighting.
Wiz: But as long as their corruption in the world and people in need of saving, Jack Morrison will always be lurking in the shadows, ready to act at a moment’s notice
Boomstick: Nothing will stop this man from fighting the good fight
Solider 76: Call me a vigilante if you want. Truth is... I'm just a soldier.
Pre-Fight:[]
Wiz: all right the combatants are set, lets end this debate once and for all.
Boomstick: It's time for a DEATH BATTLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fight:[]
Inside a biker gang bar on the streets of Dorado, Solider 76 has recently beaten up a group of Los Muertos thugs, and he has one pinned to the wall.
Solider 76: Where is he, where’s the other Solider.
Thug: I don’t know man, seriously. He only came in here an hour ago, beat the crap out of us and was looking you too.
Solider 76 knocks the guy out, grabs his gun and walks out of the building to his hoverbike. Unknown to him, someone is watching him from the roof of another building. Up on a nearby building, the Winter Solider has his M249 light machine gun aimed at Solider 76.
Winter Solider: Target Acquired
He waits for Solider 76 to fully exit the building before he takes aim and pulls the trigger.
Solider 76 hears the shot and ducks behind a car to shield himself. He turns on his Tactical Visor goggles and peeks behinds the carto scan the area. He spots the winter Solider up on the building loads his Pulse Rifle while dodging the bullets. Winter Solider fires another bullet that Solider: 76 narrowly avoids as it takes out the car window. Grabs a biker's helmet and throws it up for Winter Solider to shoot at to give him time to set up his Pulse Rifle on the car hood and locate his target.
Solider 76: There you are.
Solider 76 fires off his Pulse Rifle which Winter Solider hears and turns to counter fire. The bullet is incinerated by the laser fire from the Pulse Rifle, forcing both soldiers to fire again. This time the Bullet and Laser barely miss each other in mid-air as they continue towards their destination. Bucky narrowly avoids Morrison's shot and it ends up taking out a crow behind him. Winter Soldier's bullet grazes Soldier: 76's cheek before it strikes him in the shoulder, knocking him to the ground. Thinking he's won, Bucky contacts his partner.
Black Widow: This Agent Romanova, what's the status on the target.
Winter Solider: Target's been taken out, Rendezvous with the Quinjet immediately.
However, he starts hearing tires screeching and notices Solider: 76 speeding on his hoverbike. Winter Solider gives chase by running from rooftop to rooftop and firing his machine gun at the street. Jack narrowly avoids them as one of Bucky bullets hits a gas station pump, causing an explosion that Jack evades just in time. He pulls out his Pulse Rifle then leans on the right side of his hover bike for cover and starts firing at the rooftop. When he notices Bucky getting close to the edge of a building, he fires his Helix Rockets, blasting Bucky off the building.
Winter Solider uses his grappling hook to latch on to another rooftop and pull himself back up to safety, to continuing running and fire bullets. He then aims and fires at the tire of a Dump Truck, causing it to back up and crash into a taxi. The Resulting explosion forces Solider 76 to make a hard turn and leap off his hover bike into an old restaurant before the bike crashes into the cars. Winter Solider propels himself down from the building to the street and makes his way to the restaurant to find Solider 76.
The Winter Soldier slowly enters the establishment, searching for signs of Morrison before he hears the sound of glass cracking. He then begins firing his Machine Gun at the corner where he thinks his target was hiding. Jack runs to avoid the gunfire and rushes towards a table and flips it on its side for cover. He starts shooting at Bucky, who takes cover behind a different table. When the Soviet assassin starts reloading his gun, the former Overwatch agent takes the opportunity to run to the countertop. He arrives just as Bucky begins shooting at the pictures near the counter.
Bucky slowly approaches the back of the bar counter, but doesn't find his opponent, instead only seeing some old towel and empty bottles of beer. He goes back to the tables as he points his weapon's mounted flashlight in multiple directions, looking for his target. Suddenly, Solider 76 appears behind him in the middle of the restaurant.
Solider 76: Over here dummy.
Bucky quickly turns around, but before he can aim at his target, Jason uses his Pulse Rifle to shoot it out of his hands as it falls to the ground. The former Overwatch agent starts firing his Rifle, but Bucky protects his face with his metal arm, prompting Jack to jump over his opponent to the other side and kick him in the chest. Although dazed, Bucky is still able to stand his ground.
Solider 76 attempts to fire his Pulse Rifle again, but Bucky grabs hold of both of his hands to aim them upwards, preventing him from firing his gun. Solider 76 manages to break his grip by headbutting Winter Soldier back before deflecting one of Bucky's gunshots by punching his opponent's hand away.
Jack tries landing another punch, but Bucky blocks it with his regular arm before using his metal arm to protect his face when Jack tries to whack him over the head with his Pulse Rifle. The Winter Soldier then gets a hold of the Pulse Rifle and throw it across the room just before Jack charges through and throws him over his shoulder and onto the ground, making him drop his machine gun.
Bucky pulls out a pistol and tries firing another shot, but Jack kicks his arm to the side. Solider 76 tries to land a punch, but Bucky grabs his hand with his bionic arm. Jack struggles to break free of the assassin's tight grip as Bucky begins to crush his hand. Solider 76 tries to headbutt Winter Solider again, but the assassin is ready this time and makes Jack hit his metal arm instead of his head, dazing him. This leaves Solider 76 wide open for a massive punch from Bucky's robotic limb. Jack stumbles back into the doors leading to the kitchen and falls on the ground.
Solider 76: How....?
The Winter Soldier tears off his left sleeve, revealing his metallic arm to his opponent.
Solider 76: Are you a cyborg?
Winter Solider: No, just cybernetically enhanced.
Solider 76: Good, the last thing I need is another robot apocalypses.
Jack quickly gets to his feet and limps away to hide in the kitchen. As Bucky enters the kitchen, he prepares his knife before he is suddenly ambushed by Jack from around a corner, who is also wielding a kitchen knife. Despite the setback and, Winter Soldier dodges several strikes before kicks Jack forward towards the sink.
The two trade several blows before Solider 76 nearly stabs Bucky in the face, however, the Winter Soldier narrowly catches the knife with his metallic arm and pushes it away. The two clash multiple times before the Winter Soldier pins Solider 76 to a refrigerator. He manages to start cutting through Jack's Visor goggles and almost stabs him in the neck, but the former Overwatch member manages punch him in the face before stabbing him in the stomach.
In response, the Winter Soldier chokeholds Solider 76 with his human arm before using his bionic arm to punch the former agents face and goggles several times, even managing to crack his face cover. Jack breaks free by the Winter Soldier where his knife is still stuck, sending Bucky to the floor. Jack grabs a nearby kitchen malet and throws it at Bucky's face, striking him in the eye. He takes out one of his Biotic Field and slowing begins to heal from his wounds. Bucky then uses his artificial limb to pull out the knife lodged in his gut, as he struggles to get to his feet, only to see Jack has fully healed from the wounds Bucky inflicted on him.
Solider 76: Okay, Buddy. Let's try that again.
Solider 76 takes advantage of his opponent's handicapped state by landing several punches before roundhouse kicking the Winter Soldier back to the ground. As Solider 76 prepares another punch, Bucky grabs a nearby crowbar with his regular arm and strikes Red Hood twice, one in the face and the other in the leg. Angered by the pain, Jack recklessly charges towards his foe, but Bucky manages to trip him with the crowbar before landing one last hit on the Visor Goggles, fully cracking them.
Winter Solider kicks Soldier 76 out of the kitchen and back into the main restaurant area, where he sees his Pulse Rifle next to a chair and tables. As Bucky exists the Kitchen, Jack grabs a chair and smashes over the assassins head before running to grab his gun. As the Winter Solider regains his footing, he sees Jack behind a table aim his Pulse Rifle at him. Solider 76 fires his Helix Rockets at Bucky, who puts up his metal arm as a shield from the rocket, which causing a small explosion.
When Jack picks behind the table, he sees smoke from the Rocket, but not sign of Bucky anywhere. So he grabs his Pulse Rifle and slowly begins to limb towards the exist. Suddenly, the Winter Solider appears out of nowhere uses his none-metallic arm to wrap around Solider 76's neck and put him in a chokehold. The former Overwatch agent tries to reach for his rifle he drop, but the Winter Solider kicks it away. Jack is able to look down and sees Bucky's metal arm partial destroyed, with piercing metal ends where the hand used to be.
As Solider 76 tries to pull his way frees from the Assassins grasp, Winter Solider stabs him in the side of his chest, causing him to groan in pain. Bucky then swiftly replaces his normal arm with his metal arm to continue choking Jack, and uses the strength of the metal arm and the rest of his strength to snap Jack's neck, killing him.
As Solider 76's body falls to the ground, the Winter Soldier contacts Black Widow to confirm his mission's status.
Black Widow: Agent Barnes, come in Agent Barnes, what is your status.
Winter Soldier: This is Agent Barnes, target eliminated. Moving on.
Bucky walks over the corpse of his fallen opponent and takes one last look back before leaving the establishment.
Results[]
Boomstick: Wiz, I-I think I need to see a therapist... to tell them how awesome that was!
Wiz: These two were quite evenly matched. They both had wells of experience, similar arsenals, and an unparalleled drive to win
Boomstick: Sure Soilder 76 had the more superior weapon at his disposal, but Bucky has had plenty of experiences dealing with foes with bigger guns than him.
Wiz: Speaking of experiences, while Jack led Overwatch for over 20 years and had his time as Vigilante and Solider to back him up, The Winter Solider had decades more history in wars and assassination thanks to HYRDA preserving him in hibernation Sleep.
Boomstick: Meaning Bucky could go to sleep and wake up nice and refreshed, while Jack moved on and got older and weaker as the days went on. Sure Jack could take out a gang of thugs and Talon Agents, they were nothing compared to the aliens and superheroes Bucky fought on a regular basis. And this was before he turned over a new leaf.
Wiz: Solider 76 was a noble leader and had plenty of heavy duty weaponry, he was simple no match for Winter Solider combat experiences and super abilities.
Boomstick: Looks like “Winter” came early for Jack as everyone “mourn”-ison-"ed" his loss
Wiz: The Winner is the Winter Soldier
