Description[]
Power Rangers Dino Charge VS Pokemon! Hunting rare creatures and delivering them to whoever pays the most is what these bounty hunters excel at. When they become the others next bounty however; will Sledges alien weaponry be enough to counter Hunter Js ferocious Pokemon. It’s time for a bounty hunter death battle!
Intro[]
Wiz: Bounty Hunters; a group of people who hunts down other creatures in order to collect a reward offered for killing or capturing them. If one gets targeted by a bounty hunter, you are in for a bad time.
Boomstick: Especially when the bounty hunters in question are the best of their respective words in capturing rare creatures. Does not matter if you beg for your life like a little bitch. These hunters will never let you go in their quest for money and power.
Wiz: Sledge, The Alien Bounty Hunter Obsessed With The Energems
Boomstick: and Pokemon Hunter J, Sinnohs Most Wanted Pokemon Poacher. He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick!
Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win a Death Battle.
Sledge[]
Wiz: Throughout the Power Rangers multiverse, there are quite a few memorable villains that have stood the test of time. Not many of those villains can say though that they got many chances after their first defeat to continue pester the various rangers across the grid. Lord Zedd and Venjix have gotten this second chance but that is still not enough to come close to a certain villain that did not just get a second chance but also a third and fourth one.
Boomstick: He might not be as memorably hammy like Zedd or terrifying as the Skynet adjacent but Sledge definitely earned his spot as one of the fan favorite antagonists of the Neo-Saban era. Him coming back time after time again like a cockroach that won’t stay squished either through getting resurrected or surviving things that should have killed him only increased his popularity.
Wiz: Sledge is an intergalactic bounty hunter that has been alive for over 65 million years. With a large variety of outlaws imprisoned on his ship of all varieties, it’s no surprise that Lord Arcanon sought the bounty hunters’ services and hired him to raise an army and find the mythical Energems for him.
Boomstick: Trusting a villain not to betray him and steal those gems of power for himself was a big mistake on that evil overlord’s part. Sledge might be greedy for big profits but he definitely wouldn’t mind becoming the ruler of all things and becoming rich that way. Too bad plenty of kids in not-spandex stand in the way of this goal along with his girlfriend nagging him about getting hitched every moment not used to go gem hunting.
Wiz: Poisandras constant demands to get married gets on Sledges nerves a lot of the time but that does not make him lover her any less. Sledge might be a cruel bounty hunter but he genially loves Poisandra and won’t tolerate anyone badmouthing her when he is around. This affection extends to the rest of his crew as well to a lesser extent even if he most of the time threaten them for failing to defeat the rangers time after time again. When Sledge himself enters the fray, it is easy to see why the rest of the crew both fear and respect him.
Boomstick. Being really really really old makes this bounty hunter a bitch to take on in combat. Having millions of years of combat experience under his mechanical belt makes it a piece of cake for this armored alien to easily demorph a Power Ranger with just a couple of punches. Even his kind off rival Tyler Navarro in his T-Rex Super Charge Mode, that greatly increased his stats exponentially in all areas, failed to make the mercenary even flinch with his punches and got sent flying as thank you for those mosquito bite attacks.
Wiz: While the material Sledges armor is made from remains unknown, it covers the majority of his body and has saved him from the grasp of death multiple times. Not even being scratched upon being in the epicenter of bombs capable of disabling his own spaceship and make it float helplessly through space for several million years is proof of the armor’s durability. The armor isn’t only used for defensive purposes in battle however.
Boomstick: There is also the cool jetpack attached to the rad armor that allows him to fly like an ugly mechanical bird in the sky and the laser handgun positioned on his right arm that I would love to get my hands on. Most weaker opponent like any of Sledges unfortunate Vivix henchmen are basically oner-shoted into oblivion by the blasters green energy blasts that can create small explosion with every impact. The blaster can even immobilize those meddling rangers with a mist-like field coming out of it and overpower Heckyls lightning capable of disintegrating several of the bounty hunters high-ranking guards when powered by one of those elusive Energems.
Wiz: It should be noted however that its unknown if Sledges blaster can perform these techniques without an Energem powering the weapon or if the blaster could always do this and was just enhanced in strength when equipped with this great source of power. This isn’t the biggest flaw with the armor and its functions however. That would be its age. The years hasn’t been kind to this ancient armor as it is breaking part in places and constantly malfunctions at the worst of times.
Boomstick: One would think this alien mercenary would have gotten this armor fixed at some point as Sledge apparently really needs it due to constantly complaining about that he is getting too old for this kind of work. Not being in his prime anymore and constantly getting exhausted must suck even if he is still a beast in battle. Either he is too greedy to pay for some new metallic digs or he really likes that armor for some very personal reasons.
Wiz: Money problems might be the reason. Sledge has stated that he hates losing the bounties he would have received for the prisoners sent down to reclaim the Energems that the rangers destroy. Speaking of the outlaws imprisoned on Sledges ship and their great fear of the bounty hunter, their capture prove that Sledge is superior to all these creatures. Some of these outlaws include Iceage, who could freeze a large part of a city and the T-Rex Zord with a single ice blast, Badussa, who could turn ranger and monster alike to stone with an amulet, and Wish Star, who could alter reality and make dreams come into fruition with his wishing cards.
Boomstick: Don’t forget the other wacky powers that his poor prisoners have in their possession ranging from forced body switching and meteor summoning to illusions, hypnosis, and much more zany stuff like being able to remove a person’s courage. Sledgy should also be comparable to Leisure AKA the sister of one of his prisoners who is freaking fast enough to fly from Earth to the Sun in just a couple of seconds. The bounty hunter definitely has a lot of experience dealing with wacky powers based on all these outlaws he has caught during his 65 year million old life.
Wiz: Great intelligence is needed to deal with outlaws like these and while Sledge can be a bit goofy and hotheaded on occasion; he is also an excellent strategist unlike Boomstick here. His long-term plan of betraying Arcanon to gain the dark Energem resulted in his employer’s death and his other long-term scheme of destroying the earth by pulling it out of orbit with his ship would have been equally successful if it had not been for the rangers trying out a frankly absurd plan.
Boomstick: I resent that remark. I can be smart when I want to be. I have a degree remember. I don’t need it through to realize that throwing a very powerful dark gem into the sun is a bad idea. The rangers plan of stopping Sledge resulted in a massive black hole being created that literally destroyed the entire earth along with Sledges ship. That’s an epic fail of massive proportions.
Wiz: Not very nicely said Boomstick even if it’s true since Sledge and his entire crew survived the encounter and was simply sent into another dimension unlike the earth which was ripped apart. I would say this means Sledge has planet level durability but that is highly inconsistent with the other times Sledge has died meaning the black hole feat is a huge outlier. He has been killed by being thrown into the sun in another timeline, exploded to dust due to a bomb powerful enough to completely destroy the massive Galaxy Warriors spaceship, and sliced in half with a single attack by the powered up revived Goldar.
Boomstick: Bombs have always been Sledges kryptonite seeing as he has been tricked and exploded by them so many times that it has become an hilarious running gag. I can’t help but laugh every time this happens to the bounty hunter and he says that catchphrase of his;
Sledge: The entire universe will grovel before me.
(Sledge opens the box and comes face to face with a bomb to the shock of him and his crew.)
Sledge: IT'S A BOMB!
Boomstick: As for the whole dying in another timeline, let’s just ignore that for now. It’s not important and the whole thing causes me mayor headaches due to time-whimy shenanigans that makes no sense. That finale of Dino Charge really kicked time and space in the crotch with shoes made of titanium.
Wiz: Using his ships Magna Beam to enlarge himself into a giant that towers over skyscrapers in this timeline should be mentioned however as Sledge of the main timeline could have done the same thing if given the opportunity. This new gigantic form of Sledge increases his strength and durability to such a wide margin that the Rangers had to use his own ship to throw him into the sun as mentioned before.
Boomstick: Speaking of alternative timelines, let’s talk about the next most zany thing after this; alternative dimensions. Sledgy did end up in one after all where he ended up in conflict with the Ninja Steel rangers. He would have been able to kill the blue ranger of that team even when gaining assistance from Koda AKA ranger blue from his own dimension if a T-Rex did not appear at the last second to make the bounty hunter momentarily retreat like a little bitch.
Wiz: While Sledge has fought other dimension rangers like the Grid Battleforce team as well, none of this changes the fact that Sledges temper is one of the bounty hunters’ great weaknesses. He may be incredibly intelligent as mentioned previously but that does not stop him from making catastrophic mistakes when angered. It was him angering Goldar that lead to Sledges final death as of now.
Boomstick: Being impulsive and impatient is something one with over 65 million years of experience should have trained out of themselves by now. It’s no wonder he and his cronies constantly get defeated by people much much younger than him.
Wiz: To be fair, Sledge is aware of this embarrassing weakness of his and often do send down outlaws to fight the rangers understanding that he is no longer in his prime and that his temper can create big problems. This makes it evident the mercenary is trying to change even if he more often than not is unsuccessful in this endeavor.
Boomstick: If bounty hunting ever becomes too difficult, the merc could always try another job like an singer. Sledge proved that when he went vacationing in Japan while presumed “dead” during that time his ship crashed onto Earth.
Wiz: Regardless of his ups and down, Sledge is one of the most recuring villains to return time after time again for a reason in the Power Ranger multiverse. It would not be a surprise if Sledge eventually returned once again along with his crew to torment the rangers in his quest for the Energems and ultimate power. Maybe this time could result in overwhelming victory.
Sledge: Speaking of history...guess who's back!
Pokemon Hunter J[]
Wiz: When it comes to human villains in Pokemon, most people tend to first think of the many villainous teams that inhabit each region in the Pokemon world. Team Galactic, Team Plasma, and Team Flare are all examples of this but there is one villain team that stands out from the rest.
Boomstick: Before you ask, it is not the Team Rocket trio. They had their chance in the spotlight with their Digimon rivals and are also part of a villainous team already under Giovanni leadership. The team that really stands out like a sore thumb is the one whose leader is the highly ruthless Pokemon Hunter J.
Wiz: Unlike her fellow villainous team leaders who are obsessed with using legendary Pokemon to take over the world, J cares nothing for ruling the world. The only thing in the world she cares about is money and there is nothing she would not do to make a large sum of money. Her greedy nature is perfect for a leader of a group of vicious Pokemon thieves that sell any unfortunate soul they come in contact with on the black market.
Boomstick: One would think simply being greedy is not enough to make the hunter equally a terrible person as the head honcho of Team Galactic who basically was obsessed with nuking the entire universe and building it anew as its new god. That’s utterly wrong when you realize Cyrus truly thought the world he lived in deserved to die and that he could create a better world. The hunter named after a letter has no morals present anywhere inside that black heart of hers.
Wiz: J once started a huge forest wildfire to capture a single Riolu and another time showed no remorse when her method of getting rid of Ash and his friends risked killing a lot of hew own henchmen in the process. Everyone is expendable in her eyes whether they are henchmen and Pokemon working under her, trainers she steals from, or Ash Ketchum who she hates with a burning passion for getting in her way multiple times in a row. If it hadn’t been for his friends and some luck, Ash might have actually been killed by this ruthless hunter on many occasions.
Boomstick: When the only reason for her not harming a target is that she would receive less payment if her quarry was too injured, it is obvious that honor and decency does not exist in this bad girl’s vocabulary. The hunter definitely earned her reputation as a candidate for the evilest character in Pokemon. A cruel trainer needs some cruel Pokemon so it’s no surprise that the girl has some terrifying Pokemon in her arsenal.
Wiz: First up is Ariados; The Long Leg Pokemon. Its powerful String Shot attack can launch web-thread that tie up the majority of opponents in a matter of seconds. While not being used to battle, this Pokemon is often used to trap trainers so that the process of stealing their Pokemon goes off without a hitch.
Boomstick: Being constricted by a nasty and large bug is something I would take any day of the week over being confronted by the poachers next pocket monster that according the good old Pokedex can turn a car into scrap metal with its claws. That these claws can keep up with Godchu AKA Ash’s Pikachu who can keep pace with and defeat legendary Pokemon like Latios and Regice is impressively scary.
Wiz: Latios can move at jet plane speeds and Regice is completely made of ice cloaked with frigid air of -328 degrees Fahrenheit according to the Pokedex which means the hunters Drapion is a powerful combatant due to scaling somewhat with Pikachu.
Boomstick: Scaling is not everything however as the purple poison scorpion also has some awesome poisonous moves ready to be unleashed upon its trainers’ commands. Cross Poison slices opponents with an poisonous slash attack that can also be used to parry against incoming attacks while Poison Sting and Pin Missile bombard the enemy with so many sharp needles and toxic barbs that one could mistake them for Cacturne AKA the cactus Pokemon afterwards.
Wiz: Salamence, Hunter J’s star Pokemon, makes both Drapion and Ariados pale in comparison with its devastating moves. Its Flamethrower was used to create the wildfire mentioned previously in no time at all while Salamences Dragon Pulse has been used to clash with a Hyper Beam from Regigigas. While it might sound a bit preposterous, it is rumored that this legendary Pokemon once towed all the landmasses of the Pokemon world to their current-day locations.
Boomstick: You’re correct Wiz. That sound impossible. I would not be surprised if it was true though as there exists mons in this universe that can control all time and space. Speaking of Hyper Beams, the poacher’s dragon also knows this move and has used it to overpower an Arcanine's flamethrower and shatter large pillars made of rock, ice and steel in quick succession. The move is awesome even with its annoying liability of making the user unable to move for a couple seconds after using it.
Wiz: That is a clear flaw in J’s strategy as the hunter often uses Salamence as her main method of transportation when not near her highly advanced airship. Its skills to doge several Hyper Beams from Regice along with Regirock and Registeel of the Legendary Golems shows why she repeatedly uses her star Pokemon as her main transportation. Tanking being blasted with energy attacks from the 3 Regis at the same time and keep going as if nothing had happened also proves this.
Boomstick: I know I shouldn’t be envious of such a terrible human being but I can’t help it. I also want my personal flying dragon taxi. It’s possible I would fall of immediately unlike J who can keep her balance when riding her ace even when the dragon Pokemon dodges left and right or is sent sprawling backwards after an attack. I am also positive she would order me to be incinerated if I asked her to teach me those awesome flips and leaps she does everytime when getting off or onto Salamence.
Wiz: You do realize that while Salamence do absorb a lot of the attacks directed at it; a lot of it also impacts hard with J which includes her Pokemons own Dragon Pulse being reflected back at it. Humans are much more resilient and durable in the Pokemon anime so I doubt you would come out unscathed even if you somehow manage to not fall off that Salamence.
Boomstick: Thanks for spoiling my fun fantasies Wiz! At least there is one thing in the hunters arsenal that I could use if I got my hands on it. It’s not an Pokemon as J also uses quite a few gadgets like a visor that tracks heat signatures to find teleporting or camouflaged targets and a very OP arm cannon.
Wiz: J’s arm cannon is a very interesting piece of technology. It might not look like much but the weapon remaining unbroken after being striked by Pikachus Iron Tail shows that there is more to this thing than meet the eye. What it actually can do is even more impressive. Any living thing hit by the beam of energy fired out of the arm cannon is petrified and turned to stone.
Boomstick: It does not matter if you’re human, Pokemon, or even a legendary Pokemon. You will be turned to stone and become someone trophy for the rest of your life. The Regi trio alongside the Sinnoh Lake guardians learned this the hard way. The fact that it can be used to rapid fire several beams in quick succession and fly through Azelfs Extrasensory to hit the legendary lake guardian makes it even more terrifying. The beam is even freaking fast enough to stone Godchu and accomplish what the bumbling trio has failed to accomplish for the last 25 years.
Wiz: What I find even more terrifying is that the petrified victims remain somewhat conscious during the ordeal unable to move even an inch of their body or prevent themselves from being sold to greedy owners. The best way of avoiding this fate to dodge the petrification beam to the best of your ability.
Boomstick: Another way to avoid being stoned by that medusa gauntlet of hers is breaking it into pieces the moment the opportunity present itself. It is a rather durable device but it’s not unbreakable. Salamence own Dragon Pulse can turn it to shreds after all courtesy of the regiking Regigigas who is also one of the few know Pokemon with the ability to unstone someone from their prison without the use of technology.
Wiz: Medusa gauntlet is an apt name for the arm cannon since it was never named in the anime. To get my hands on this device is something I would be very interested in as well Boomstick. Unfortunately due what happened to J during her final mission; the secrets behind this weapon will never be brought to light. It’s a shame but at least it also means no one will need to fear this hunter ever again.
Boomstick: Hunter J is awesome at what she do but no one can outrace karma forever. Her knack for destruction without any care in the world bit her in the ass during her team-up with Team Galactic to capture the lake trio. Underestimating her opponents when on the eve of victory has always been something the hunter named after a letter should have stopped herself from doing long ago.
Wiz: Fortunately for the Sinnoh region, the hunter never learned to remedy this mistake as her airship was sent crashing into Lake Valor not long after handing the petrified targets over to Team Galactic by two Future Sight attacks. The ship was sucked into a whirlpool that broke the control rooms glass window which resulted in the ship being flooded. Not long afterwards because the flooding, the ship exploded with J and her entire crew inside of it. No one has ever laid eyes on the infamous Pokemon hunter since this day so it is evident what happened deep down in the depts of Lake Valor.
Boomstick: Does not mean it’s any less surprising that we actually got to see an almost on-screen death in the Pokemon anime when Ash and Team Rocket get subjected to wacky shenanigans that should have killed them week after week. J dying from a combination of drowning and explosions kind of is pale compared to what they have survived but I can’t really complain. If anyone deserved to be sent down to Pokemon hell in a fiery glory, its Hunter J.
Wiz: She might not have appeared in that many episodes of the Pokemon anime and probably died too soon for a few people but there is one thing you can’t deny about this terrible person. Hunter J made a huge impression with her ruthless personality that one won’t soon forget.
Hunter J: I've been aware of your little intrusion the whole time.
Ash: Why didn't you do something before?
Hunter J: So I could personally punish a young fool like you.
Intermission[]
Wiz: All right, the combatants are set, it's time to end this debate once and for all!
Boomstick: It's time for a DEATH BATTLE!
Death Battle![]
Unknown Planet Somewhere In Space
????: The guns are set and ready to be fired. Targets is also within range. Shall we begin the operation?
On a planet made completely of ice and snow was two unassuming creatures completely unaware of the danger approaching them from multiple locations. One was located in a ship orbiting around the planet while the other was observing the situation from an airship camouflaged and hidden only a couple of meters away from the duo. Both ships had guns locked onto their targets. The only thing the crews of the ships waited on was their respective captain’s answer. A nod of confirmation was all that the crews needed to proceed with the next phase of the plan.
One mistake done by both parties alerted the duo on the icy ground that they were not alone however. Being unaware of the other ships existence, the respective crews had no idea that the sound of both of the ships guns coming online at the exact time could create an ear piercing noise that could be heard for miles in every direction.
The targets were the two Deoxys that once visited LaRousse City of the world of Pokemon. Talking to each other in a language only their partner could understand was what would have been the cause of their capture if they had not heard this noise around them and immediately moved towards a large cave in the ice. Both captains realized what was happening before their crews and ordered them to attack at once.
???? and ????: Fire at the target immediately. Don’t let them escape!
Firing the main guns of the ships turned out to be futile. The lasers hit nothing but ice as the Deoxys disappeared deep into the depths of the cave. Violent Curses and threats filled the control rooms of each ship because of the lost visual on the targets.
???? and ????: Useless the whole lot of you are. You let the bounty escape. Why do I have to do everything myself all the time If I want the job done right?
Having gotten fed up with their crew’s incompetence, both captains prepared to exit onto the planet themselves to catch their prey. The one from the airship was the first to land on the planet however as the one in space got a little delayed by his fiancé who demanded for them to get married right this instant to the captain’s dismay. He did manage to escape this predicament by promising to agree to the proposal after catching the Pokemon duo in the cave. She was out of range to hear him sighing quietly to himself however as he closed in on the cave entrance on the planet’s surface.
???: Why can’t Poisy understand that I am too busy to get married right now?
What greeted him by the caves entrance was a human woman on top of a blue dragon-like creature floating in the air. This was Pokemon Hunter J and her scans of the cave courtesy of her high-tech visor told her that the Pokemon she had been hired to obtain had yet to exit the cave. Sledge pointed his blaster her way when he finally reached the location thanks to his jetpack.
Sledge: Don’t even think about landing that dragon on the ground lady. I know a fellow bounty hunter when I see one and you have no claim on the creatures in the cave. They are my property.
Instead of retreating back to her ship in fright as Sledge expected, the hunter simply turned her head to give the alien bounty hunter a short analytical glance. Fear was not the emotion that appeared on her face. It would be more accurate to say that a combination of intrigue and greed was the emotion that appeared instead.
Hunter J: You’re not a Pokémon are you? I was hired and given the means to reach this place by someone obsessed with space so I don’t think they would mind if I added an actual alien along with the targets requested. You would get me a nice bonus for this job.
The bounty hunter could not help but let out a loud laugh at the humans’ hubris. Said human hunter’s eyes sent an annoyed glare Sledges way that was hidden behind her visor. Hunter J’s feelings of annoyance with the alien in front of her only increased when she heard what he had to say next.
Sledge: You’re going to be hunting me? Don’t make me laugh girly. You’re 65 years million too young to even be in my league. I will give you one last chance to scrap before I decide to add you to the collection of outlaws on my ship. That dragon of yours would fetch me a very good prize.
Regardless of how strong the creature ridden by the hunter was, Sledge was confident that he would be able to take it down without much trouble even with all the nasty secret weapons the human probably had in her possession. The alien bounty hunter was no fool. Not suspecting a fellow bounty hunter of having a few deadly tricks up their sleeves was mistake Sledge was not going to make anytime soon in his opinion.
Firing his blaster caused J to raise her arm cannon and fire it in the direction of the incoming projectile. The 2 projectiles collided with each other in the air canceling them out of existence. None of the bounty hunters seemed surprised by this turn of events and prepared themselves for a tough fight. Both had their eyes set on capturing their opponent.
Battling an alien instead of an Pokemon was not something J had ever done before but that did not really matter in the hunter’s mind. Her client was a wealthy one seeing as he had created a teleporter capable of transporting someone to another planet. Just imagining the huge amounts of cash she would receive if she made her client extra happy caused the hunter to let out an evil-looking smile as she contacted her ship through her visor. Today’s hunt had to be successful. Failure would be unacceptable.
Hunter J: New target identified. Proceeding to engage it now. Make sure that ship does not interfere or you will all face the consequences. Salamence, Dragon Pulse!
FIGHT!
The battle between bounty hunters began with a Dragon Pulse courtesy of Salamence heading towards Sledge. A blast from the bounty hunter’s blaster collided with the incoming turquoise ball of energy causing both attacks to fade away. It wasn’t the only one however as Salamence had released a barrage of Dragon Pulses instead of just one attack. Sledge maneuvered through the incoming barrage with his jetpack and fired several green energy blasts forcing his opponent to order her Pokemon to avoid them all.
Flying through a storm of energy projectiles was what Salamence had to do to accomplish his trainer’s orders. In response to this, another volley of Dragon Pulses was sent towards Sledge. This back and forth of projectiles throughout the sky repeated again and again. Every time one of the bounty hunters found an opening in the incoming barrage and tried to use it, they found themselves forced to retreat again due to another volley heading their way. It got to the point that the alien bounty hunter got so impatient that he forgoed dodging the next volley all together.
Hunter J: That was a rather subpar performance for someone that talked a rather big game.
Hunter J could not help but raise an eyebrow at her opponent’s foolish actions. It seemed like she had overestimated the alien’s competency. She had not even needed to use her arm canon. An easy win meant more money though so this did not bother the hunter for very long. What did taker her by surprise was Sledge powering through the Dragon Pulse barrage and grabbing Salamence by the throat with such force that J to almost lost her balance.
Sledge: Say goodbye to your owner lizard! You won’t be seeing her where you are going to stay for the rest of your life.
His armor was literally steaming after having been bombarded with multiple Dragon Pulses but Sledge did not care in the slightest. It was about time to teach this young bounty hunter not to mess with her elders. His plan to blast Salamence in the face at close range went up in smoke when Sledge heard a mechanical sound coming from his armor. It was a sound that Sledge hated almost as much as bombs exploding around him.
Sledge: Wrench! You pathetic liar! You told me you fixed this stupid armor of mine!
Both jetpack and blaster malfunctioned at the same time causing Sledge to scream out curses as he fell to the icy ground below. Seeing her chance to deal some big damage, J ordered Salamence to unleash its Flamethrower. The flames engulfed Sledge as he hit the extremely thick ice. It did not keep the alien bounty hunter down long however to J’s disappointment.
Stepping out of the flames more annoyed than hurt, Sledge proceeded to activate his jetpack once again only to find it still malfunctioning. The blaster had come back online so he used it to send a barrage of green energy blasts into the air. All the energy blasts missed Hunter J due to Salamence graceful flying. They had not been the intended target however which the Pokemon hunter realized when the giant ice structure behind them cracked into pieces.
Hunter J: That was a bit more impressive I guess. Ariados and Drapion; you know what I expect done.
As J and Salamence had to compete with falling blocks of ice as big as skyscrapers in the air, Sledge found himself facing two new challengers on the ground. Ariados immediately went to work and sent several String Shots towards the alien bounty hunter. Drapion followed this up with a barrage of Pin Missiles the moment Sledge got entangled in Ariados web. Sledge was both far from being finished and impressed by the monsters in front of him however.
These creatures paled in strength compared to Salamence so they were unworthy of becoming part of his ships collection of outlaws and creatures in Sledges mind. He made this as clear as day as the bounty hunter easily broke free of the webs holding him and walked right through the Pin Missiles heading his way. Ariados found itself not long after grabbed and smashed so hard into the ice headfirst that a large crack appeared and blood started to flow from the Pokemon’s face.
Hunter J let out a sigh of disappointment as she saw this turn of events after having avoided all the falling ice thanks to Salamence. She was definitely going to force her client to pay her extra for all this trouble.
Sledge: Is this the best you’ve got to throw at me? Iceage gave me a far better challenge than this bug.
Hunter J: You will face the consequences for your failure after I am done for today. Use Cross Poison Drapion and hope that your performance is not as disappointing as Ariados.
Ariados was returned to his pokeball as Drapion charged forward to send a powerful slashing attack towards Sledge. The alien bounty hunter easily parried the first two slashes with his armored fists before grabbing Drapion and throwing it into an small ice cliff. The green blaster bolt that came next missed its target as Drapion dodged out the way of the attack only to see Sledge charging towards him with a fist raised.
Hunter J: Weaken the fool further with Poison Sting!
The Poison Stings were all evaporated courtesy of Sledges blaster who narrowed his red eyes in the direction of Drapion. He could feel the effect of being poisoned from before and was determined to make sure the hunter’s creature would not get the chance to do same thing again.
Realizing her opponent was now starting to feel the effect of the poison running through his veins, J ordered her Drapion to attack her opponent nonstop to make sure Sledge didn’t get any breathing room. The constant barrages of Poison Sting were all annihilated by the alien’s blaster while every Cross Poison slash sent his way was avoided to the best of Sledges ability. Some of the attacks did reach Sledge however forcing him to parry them with his own fists to avoid being poisoned too much.
J let out a small smirk as Sledge started to get slower and slower with each dodge or hit. Her opponent was breathing heavily due to a combination of the poison and his old age hindering him. The perfect situation for her arm canon had now been created and Hunter J immediately came up with a plan to use this to her advantage.
Sledge: I am getting too old for this kind of work. Don’t expect that to save you from my wrath however.
Hunter J: Your time is up. You won’t be able to avoid Poison Sting anymore in that condition. Prepare for your uniqueness to be preserved for eternity in my client’s trophy room!
At the same exact time as Drapion unleashed yet another Poison Sting volley, J fired a blast from her arm canon. The orange beam of energy became hidden in the Poison Sting swarm traveling towards an heavily exhausted Sledge. If this beam hit her opponent, the bonus received for this job would be hers with no chance for failure.
What happened next was something that took the Pokemon hunter by complete surprise. Sledge fired his blaster once again at the incoming projectiles but this time it did not release an energy blast. It instead unleashed a mist-like substance that froze the projectiles and Drapion in their place as if they had been completely immobilized by something unseen. The immobilized scorpion Pokemon was then lifted into the air by Sledge and thrown into the frozen Poison Sting swarm. Drapion was turned to stone the second he touched the orange energy beam hidden within.
Sledge: Preserved for all eternity eh? Badussa was not fast enough to turn me into stone so that little trick of yours would never have been able to do it either.
Having tricked his opponent into revealing her secret weapon by acting more exhausted than he truly was had worked like a charm. It had not entirely been an act however as this fight was making him really tired. Sledge inwardly laughed at the hunters shocked expression as he proceeded to blast the stoned Drapion into millions of pieces. This creature had been a little tougher than the spider but it had still not been tough enough for Sledge to consider adding it to his collection.
Sledge: Do you have any more creatures to throw my way or is that silence of yours a sign that you finally gave up? Come on down here and let me collect your blue lizard right this instant if you want to receive a painless death.
Her opponent’s blaster being pointed in her direction alerted J that she did not have very long to answer the question. She needed to capture this infuriating alien fast. Her client’s requested targets were still in the cave according to the visor but that could change at any moment.
An idea suddenly sparked to life in the hunter’s brain as she looked up and saw her airship and Sledges spaceship firing their weapons at each other. She remembered something she had heard Sledge mutter to himself just before the beginning of the battle. Something that if taken away could result in her victory and demoralize her opponent greatly. What Hunter J answered Sledges question with caused the bounty hunters blood to get cold with dread.
Hunter J: I Have only one thing to say to you my target. I have finally realized what you hold dear. Say goodbye to your fiancé.
The look J gave their fighting flying headquarters that were nearly on top of each other made Sledges eyes widen in shock. It did not take a genius to understand what his opponent was planning.
Sledge: What? Are you crazy human? You would risk sacrificing your own henchmen in order to kill mine? I would be very impressed and have no problem asking for your autograph for doing something so despicable if it weren’t for the fact that no one threatens my ship and gets away with it.
Hunter J: Why should I care about the lives of those who keep failing me? Unleash your Hyper Beam Salamence.
The Hyper Beam that would have cut both ships in two never reached its targets as it instead collided with Sledge who used his now non-malfunctioning Jetpack to intercept the attack. While it did not manage to pierce though the alien and severely wound him, the Hyper Beam did launch Sledge backwards right into J’s airship. None of the Pokemon hunter’s henchmen were prepared when a screaming Sledge came crashing through the control rooms glass window.
One of the henchmen tried to summon one of their Pokemon only to be quickly disintegrated by Sledges blaster as he got up on his feet. The rest of the control rooms inhabitants quickly made for the exit to avoid this fate. Sledge ignored all of them running away and instead looked out of the broken window to see Hunter J ordering her Pokemon to release another Hyper Beam when it could muster to do so. If looks could kill, J would have fallen into realm of the dead at this exact moment.
Sledge: You’ve got a real screw lose lady. Interrupting my job is one thing but attacking Poisy is another thing entirely. She is off limits. Time to show you something you've never seen before! ACTIVATE THE MAGNA BEAM!
An furious roar filled with the desire to protect his loved ones and crush his enemies into pieces could be heard from within the airship. Sledges crew immediately realized what was happening and flew the ship quickly higher into the air in order to complete their captains wish. Poisandra activated the Magna Beam with girlish glee as she watched the beam envelop Hunter J’s airship. Perhaps her boyfriend’s statement about aggreging to marry her after this was true after all.
The explosion of her ship did not bother Hunter J much. What did concern her was her opponent growing to the size of a kaiju out of its wreckage. Sledges huge form cast a huge shadow that darkened the entire area as if the dead of night had arrived early. It was a miracle that the ice bellow him had not broken into pieces due to his new enormous weight.
Sledge: Do you still think you have a chance against me now vermin? Let me repay you for trying to wreck my ship. I won’t be able to pay my ships insurance if it keeps getting blasted apart.
A flamethrower to chest told Sledge all he needed to know about his opponent’s stance on the matter. He didn’t even try to dodge all the incoming Flamethrowers and Dragon Pulseses courtesy of Salamence who flew circles all around him in an attempt to disorient Sledge. This failed in all categories as it neither disoriented nor harmed the alien bounty hunter in any meaningful way.
Just as Sledge was about to send out an attack of his own however, a Hyper Beam blasted him right between the eyes causing him to scream out in agony. The culprits was Salamence who was hovering right in front of his face with J pointing her arm canon his way. The shock caused from seeing her opponent had all but disappeared. An increase in size meant nothing to her petrifying technology.
Hunter J: Thank you for making yourself a bigger target.
The arm canon failed yet again to turn Sledge to stone. Despite not being able to see the incoming projectile, he knew it was coming and therefore clapped his hands together creating a huge shockwave of powerful air currents. J never got the chance to fire her weapon as the wind clashed so hard with Salamence that J was thrown off her partners back and fell to ice bellow. Her Pokemon not long after crashed into the ice as well some distance away seemingly unconscious.
J herself laid sprawled near the cave entrance. Both her legs were broken and the blood around her made the ice a scary reddish color. Neither arm was able to be moved either. None of the painful feelings showed on J’s face as Sledge looked down at her. She would not give him any more reasons to gloat than he already had.
Sledge: Do you have any last words before your imminent demise human?
Seeing as J noticed her Salamence weakly getting up on its feet and into the air looking at her to gain some idea of what to do next behind the giant alien, the hunter definitely had some words to say but not before giving her partner a silent command that she knew only it would recognize.
Hunter J: You are a lousy bounty hunter.
That comment made Hunter J the center of Sledges attention. He remained completely unaware of Salamence flying slowly upwards towards his ship. It stayed like this as J’s next comment only made him even more angry and oblivious to everything around him.
Hunter J: You are probably after the Deoxys for the same reason as I; making a profit. I can see you have bigger ambitions than that however as well as people you care about. That’s why you’re an incompetent bounty hunter.
Being called incompetent was the last straw for Sledge. The alien bounty hunters temper reached new boiling levels that had not seen the light of day since the time Keeper tricked him. With a loud scream of fury, Sledge raised his right leg and prepared to stomp his nemesis into mush.
Sledge: HOW DARE YOU INSINUATE THAT……….
An huge explosion covering the entire sky in flames for a couple of moments made Sledge aware of his surrounding again. His giant foot stopped only a few meters from stomping on the hunter. What Sledge saw above him made his black heart break in two. His ship was no more. The wreckage along with the remains of the occupants was raining down like fiery meteorites. One looked suspiciously like Poisandra to Sledges horror.
This moment of hesitation on Sledges part gave Hunter J the chance she had been waiting for. While one of her arms was broken just like her legs, the other one could still be moved slightly and this remaining arm was the one with the arm canon. She could have shot the alien at any time during her little speech but didn’t in order to make doubly sure that this third time was the charm. Seems like her Salamence created a good distraction and earned his daily treats.
Hunter J: You have a few ethics you won’t break. I have none to break. This profession does not need things such as morals and ethics.
The third and final time was indeed a charming success as the petrifying beam impacted with the bottom of Sledges armored foot. Petrification of the entire foot took place in an instant and it was only when it reached his arms that Sledge noticed what had started to place. His horror and sadness of losing his fiancé was swiftly replaced with another feeling of incredulousness and disbelief. The bounty hunter could do nothing but let out a scream of frustration.
Sledge: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! CURSE YOU HUMAN! AT LEAST YOU DID NOT HAVE A BO….!
More than those words were never again spoken by the once great alien hunter from the stars. What now stood in his place was a giant stone statue ready to be brought to his new owner.
KO!
The battle was finally over and while Hunter J was glad to have caught her prey and earned the bonus payment; she was still rather unhappy for someone that had just won a tough battle. She had only caught her bonus target and not actually the real targets she had been hired to catch. With her body out of commission for a long time and witnessing the two Deoxys teleporting away from the planet due to her visor, Hunter J knew she had both succeeded and failed this mission at the same time.
Hunter J: Targets have escaped but the bonus target has been acquired. Bring the transporter to my location immediately. It’s time to return home and deliver this one to the client.
Salamence returned to J’s side as she contacted whoever of her henchmen that was still alive through the visor. Her targets might have escaped this day to remains free the near future but this was far from over. She would return for them the second these infernal injuries disappeared. No one escapes Pokemon Hunter J and remains free for very long.
- The Petrified form of Sledge is placed in a garden filled with other petrified Pokemon where he screams inwardly in rage.
- Hunter J counts the money received for the job as her surviving henchmen transport her with a wheelchair to a new airship.

Boomstick: Does that count as a death? I guess it should count since it’s kind of worse than an actual death “death” with him being forced to become some rich snobs giant garden gnome for all time.
Wiz: Turning the extremely experienced bounty hunter to stone was no easy task for Hunter J however with the various advantages he had over her. This is especially true in the durability and experience departments. Being more experienced is easy to see with Sledges 65 million years of experience in capturing creatures with weird powers and abilities. Nothing any of J’s Pokemon could do would take this bounty hunter by surprise due to this. Durability can be argued in J’s Pokemon favor however if one takes the Regigigas feat seriously.
Boomstick: That feat is too big of an outlier to take seriously. Just because it was rumored for the regiking to have pulled all the massive landmasses of the Pokemon world does not mean its true. He definitely hasn’t shown this capability in either the anime or the movies he has appeared. If we have to give this outlier of J having a dragon capable of fighting someone who can freaking pull continents some thought, we have to give Sledge his outlier as well which in his case is the black hole insanity. With or without these outliers, Sledges durability is so op that it isn’t even fair.
Wiz: Even J’s own overpowered part of her arsenal did not promise a guaranteed victory. His capture of Badussa proves that the alien bounty hunter has experience in dealing with foes just like Hunter J who can petrify him with a single attack. Even with all these things in Sledges favor, it was the answer to one question that determined the Pokemon poachers victory. Would Sledge be able to take out J’s Pokemon and take the hunter out before being petrified by her gauntlet?
Boomstick: There are definably plenty of situations where the armored alien could turn the hunter into mush and teach her some karma because of what we have just mentioned above. The hunter named after the letter J, who has a shockingly embarrassing low durability, could literally be one-shoted if Sledge ever reached her. Because of all this, it is actually rather surprising that J had the most likely chance to come out on top.
Wiz: The reason for this is the petrification arm cannon. While Sledge is experienced in dealing with these kind of ability holders, he has never shown any actual resistance to being stoned. This means that J could end this great bounty hunter with a single attack. Despite having the speed advantage by scaling to Leisure, he also had a lot of openings for Pokemon Hunter J to exploit. His armors malfunctioning combined with his age hindering him for example created a lot these opportunities.
Boomstick: Combine that with her team of vicious creatures keeping Sledgy busy and you have an actual good reason for why this terrible human being won this bout. She is certainly ruthless enough to sacrifice them if it gave her the chance for victory. In this battle of terrible people, the one with no morals defeating the one with just one or 2 morals should not be surprising. I know this from experience isn’t that right Wiz.
Wiz: I don’t know what you are referring to. My experiments on you are perfectly legal. Getting back on track, going giant didn’t really help Sledge much either as it only made him a much larger and easier target to hit with her weapon. Even his great intelligence did nothing for him most of the time as his raging temper and impulsiveness lead him to make large mistakes perfect for his opponent to exploit.
Boomstick: For those Power Rangers fans out there who really wanted old Sledgy here to win, I completely understand. I kind of wanted that terrible excuse for a human to bite the dust as well. I’m glad at least that the poacher’s knack for underestimating her opponents and Sledges immobilization ray could result in the fan-favorite villain’s win in certain situations. This was definably a close fight for sure with both having a lot of chances to succeed
Wiz: This was a rather even fight indeed. Hunter J claimed victory this time due to her ruthless personality, arm canon, and chances to exploit her opponent’s weakness to win this fight with a single blast. Sledges overwhelming stats and experience would lead him to victory plenty of times as well even if his opponent more times than not steals that away from him.
Boomstick: Looks like Sledge went from catching booty to becoming booty.
Wiz: The winner is Pokemon Hunter J.
