Skeletron vs Sans is BeautifulDuwanged's Season 2 premiere, starring Skeletron from Terraria fighting Sans from Undertale.
Introduction[]
ROB: Skeletons, someone has got to be scared of them, that's pretty obvious.
Game and Watch: Yeah, but imagine if those skeletons were living... Ooh, ooh, and had glowing eyes!
ROB: Right... Such as Sans the punny Skeleton, from Undertale.
Game and Watch: And Skeletron, the legendary dungeon guardian from Terraria.
ROB: We'll be researching their weapons, armor, and skills, to find out who would win a DEATH BATTLE.
Sans[]
ROB: Long ago, a war broke out between monsters and humans. Monsters lost, so the humans had sealed them underground with a magical spell, but monsters could make a life underground, surprisingly. Though, some of them are really too lazy to care, so-
Game and Watch: Well, enter Sans the Skeleton!
Background
Name: Sans the Skeleton
Age: Unknown
Gender: Male
Lazy-Bones
Nearly always napping
Gaster Blaster Master of Pun-Making
ROB: Sans is the lazy-bones between him and his brother, Papyrus, and ignores nearly everything his brother asks him to do, of course, because it's funny.
Game and Watch: Yeah, Sans is a pretty funny skeleton, though, he doesn't seem to drink a lot of calcium, hence his rather low stats in combat.
ROB: While this is true, Sans is nothing to joke around with, even if he's not the most physical fighter.
Abilities
Gaster Blasters
Bone Creation
Platform Creation
Telekinesis
KARMA Poisoning
Game and Watch: Sans can use multiple abilities for combat! His main ability is able to turn one's soul into a BLUE MODE, forcing them downwards, or whichever direction Sans decides, really, with a limited jump. He can also use Gaster Blasters, skeletal-like summons that can fire beams of light at his opponent that he can use to create tricky patterns, alongside his main attack: Bone creation! He can create two types of bones, blue and white bones, which will damage them, though the blue one will only do so if you move, and can even vary heavily in length, which Sans uses rather creatively!
ROB: He can also create platforms, which he uses to allow Frisk to float above his attacks, and the use of Telekinesis, which he can use to fling around and hit his opponent. Finally, Sans also has access to a poison, known as KR, or KARMA, which will allow him to accumulate damage onto his opponent, along with being able to get past any possible invulnerabilities.
Game and Watch: Sans is rather capable in combat. Not only can he fling his opponent around, he can teleport them around, and is even able to move and change the battle box, whether it be in size, gravity, or shape. Not only that, but Sans has one final trick up his sleeve in the case he were nearly defeated. His special attack.
ROB: With this attack, Sans does what he's the best at. Doing absolutely nothing.
Game and Watch: Yeah! By just doing nothing, he makes sure his opponent won't be able to do anything, though he himself can't do anything, either. Regardless, it's his strongest attack, though it can be easily countered, say, if he falls asleep.
Weaknesses
Prone to falling asleep
Notably very lazy, especially when compared to his brother
Can anger others very easily with his puns or comedy
Noticeably very weak, cannot deal much damage without the use of KARMA
ROB: While that is true, his major weaknesses come from other factors, such as his laziness, or lack of good stats.
Game and Watch: Of course, Sans is very weak. Not only does he have the lowest stats in the game, but he dies in a single hit from Frisk, meaning there's basically a 100% chance he'd die, granted, if you can hit him in the first place.
ROB: Even with this in mind, Sans is still one of the strongest skeletons you'd have to deal with in the game, and he'll make sure to bring the judgement down onto his opponent.
Sans: it's a beautiful day outside. birds are singing, flowers are blooming... on days like these, kids like you... Should be burning in hell.
Skeletron[]
ROB: Dungeons. We're all aware of the existence of them, and they've been seen within various types of media, such as Minecraft, or, you know, Terraria.
Game and Watch: Hell yeah! And at that dungeon, exists an old man, who's bones crack and fingers scratch against the bricks that lie near the entrance. Creepy.
ROB: But, talk to the Old Man at night, and you'll be able to summon his "boss", Skeletron.
Background
Name: Skeletron
Age: Unknown
Gender: Male
The Cursed Guardian of the Dungeon
Cthulu's Skull
ROB: Cursed to guard the dungeon by the Dryad's who defeated Cthulu, Skeletron is a large skull, fitted with two large arms, noted to be the part's of Cthulu's own skeleton. Notably very powerful, Skeletron is merely allowed to fight the player at night, and the Old Man protests against those weak enough.
Game and Watch: Well, he's able to keep up with the the player, and is one of the largest surprises you'll meet when first playing the game. I mean, he's kind of a big deal!
ROB: Yes, of course... Skeletron is not only an extremely strong boss that's tough to deal with at the beginning of the game, but he even matches you later, after you beat the Wall of Flesh.
Game and WatcH: Meet Skeletron Prime! A mechanized version of Cthulu's skeleton created by the mechanic, it's essentially twice as powerful. Four arms, and each are essentially armed to the teeth!
ROB: Speaking of weaponry, Skeletron himself is surprisingly versatile with it's many abilities.
Abilities
Bone Creation
Skull Projectiles
Lasers, bombs, saws, and a vice grip
Stun and Bleeding Inducement
ROB: He can swing his arms at his opponent, or hit them with his head, whether this is with a spinning attack or simple swiping. Hitting his hands will cause one to bleed, and he can stun someone when he hits them with his head, essentially locking them into a stun with multiple hits.
Game and Watch: Yeah! Not only that, but once it hits the morning, he's essentially impossible to kill, and will follow you, spinning around and attempting to hit you.
ROB: Of course, with Skeletron Prime, he can do the same, but also has various weapons, such as lasers, bomb cannons, saws, and even a vice, that he uses to fire at the player. His lasers fire a beam at the player, his bombs will create somewhat large explosions, though usually aimed upwards rather than downwards, his saw will cut upwards and downwards into his opponent, and obviously, the vice will simply swipe at the player, similar to it's previous pattern.
Game and Watch: Not only that, but Skeletron also drops and is the source of an essence-- of Pure Terror. Yeah. No wonder he's supposed to be pretty creepy...
ROB: Finally, while Skeletron is very powerful as a boss, he still has his downsides as one, too.
Weaknesses
Losing it's arms means it cannot perform any longer-ranged attacks. Skeletron Prime especially means it can barely do anything
It's guns and weapons will specifically aim in a direction, rarely changing where they fire from
His head can be outsped, leaving it vulnerable to any attacks from that point
It can only fire skulls when at a lower health
ROB: Skeletron is not that capable once it loses it's arms, meaning it would be easy to outpace it... mostly. While Skeletron himself can make up for it, Skeletron Prime can suffer severely, as it has nearly nothing it can do when it loses it's arms.
Game and WatcH: And, of course, like most bosses with phases, it can only use specific attacks within each of it's phases, especially like his skulls that he can fire.
ROB: While this is true, Skeletron isn't something you'd want to anger, obviously.
Game and Watch: And if you ever do piss it off, be prepared for a skele-ton of pain.
Skeletron Prime roars loudly, chasing after the Terrarian after losing it's limbs.
Intermission[]
ROB: Oh, good. Now that the combatants are set, it-
Game and Watch: Finally! It's time for a DEATH BATTLE!
DEATH BATTLE![]
Pre-Fight[]
It was a beautiful day outside, beams of light gleamed throughout the golden hall as a skeleton stood in the middle of the hall, standing, though slouching slightly. His sockets were solid black, though with two white pupils that shined in them, and a large grin was planted on his face. He had usually hung out here, but was expecting the arrival of the kid he'd known and watched throughout the entire time here. They hadn't killed anyone, at least, not yet, he'd mentally note down, but this made him shiver slightly.
That kid was doing something now, he knew it, and couldn't help but wonder what that had been. Sighing, his eyes closed as he now took a small rest, still standing.
Only just outside this hall, an old, frail man began to walk, looking for help. His joints and bones creaked with each step, groaning. Only once he got closer to the door did he speed up, entering the golden hallway. While there was an odd star here, there was also a skeleton at the end, causing the old man to be rather confused.
While he was confused, he needed help... It was midnight... And his master...
"You... I must acquire help."
The old man spoke, choking out as he looked up to the skeleton, alarming them. The skeleton, still alarmed by this, had looked down at the old man who walked closer.
* uhh. . . i can probably help with that. . . what would i need to do?
The skeleton attempted to be supportive to some degree, asking the old man. With a nod, the man got up closer, and soon, a small, blue textbox appeared.
"You just might be strong enough to free me from my curse. . ."
<Curse> <Close>
Sans, who, though confused by the curse button, had clicked it. What he hadn't expected was for the old man's body to seemingly disappear, and in it's place, a massive skeleton skull appeared, two arms dangling beside it, blood dripped and poured from where it's joints would have been. Sans let out a sigh, seeing this, and suddenly several heads that he created appeared behind him, each of them charged with a white beam of some sorts aimed towards the monstrous head.
FIGHT![]
Swinging forward, Skeletron slammed one of it's arms, or to be more specific, it's left one, into the floor. This caused the hall to shake, but Sans was given enough time to teleport out of the way of the attack, showing a simple Miss icon above him. Pointing his hand forward, suddenly, the gaster blasters fired at the head of Skeletron, causing it to crash into one of the pillars.
Clearly wanting to deal with this quick enough, Sans summoned a few bones that began to rapidly beat upon Skeletron, knocking it around slightly. As it's head was continuously hit, though, Skeletron's right arm flew forward, charging at Sans, while it's left arm moved back near it's skull. Rather surprised by this, though, Sans was forced to teleport away, causing the bones to dissipate.
Skeletron then proceeded to charge forward, attempting to ram into Sans, who blocked the attack with the use of a bone, before summoning a few more walls of these. Sighing once more, Sans teleported to the side, and then raised his hand to the direction of the walls. Skeletron was instantly flung through each wall of bones, cracking and destroying them, along with damaging itself.
It was then flung into the wall that started the hall, making a large crack in it, but this allowed it's arms to charge away from it, attempting to wildly swing at Sans as it flew near. Sans was capable of dodging the random swings, through teleportation, but he had to find a way to destroy the skeleton in a first place.
Teleporting to the back of the hall, he summoned a few more Gaster Blasters, and then a row of bones that charged towards the floating skull. The Gaster Blasters all fired instantaneously at the skeleton, knocking it back further and further, along with the barrage of bones that hit it. Sans wasn't too exhausted by this, either, and began summoning a few more bones, which were now blue, that stood at the end of the hall, while he continued barraging the skeleton with attacks.
Soon enough, Sans summoned a large bone, albeit far smaller than Skeletron, that began barraging the boss alone. Soon enough, while stunned by the attack, Skeletron grabbed the bone, and threw it at Sans. This caught him off guard, causing him to be hit once by the bone, knocking him back. This damaged him severely, although he was lucky enough that it was only his own attack, and with this in mind, he teleported behind Skeletron, seeing as it went in for another skull charge.
Hitting the next wall at the end of the hallway, this caused another crack, and shook the entire hallway. Dust and rocks fell from the top, landing onto the golden floor, and slowly formed a larger crack on the hallway's roof. Skeletron charged forward, and Sans saw this as a great opportunity. Launching a bone upwards, it hit the roof, causing a major crack in it, and soon enough, a large part of it's golden ceiling landed ontop of Skeletron, seemingly crushing him.
Slightly tuckered out, Sans soon closed his eyes. The skull would have been killed, but...
A roar woke up the lazy skeleton, and instinctively, a large bone wall was summoned in front of him. Looking up, the skull was somehow still alive... It clashed against the wall, but Sans had fired a few more bones towards it, albeit having to put down his wall for the attacks, which launched Skeletron back. As he did so, multiple skulls summoned behind Skeletron, and launched towards Sans.
Putting his hands forward, he summoned floating skulls of his owns, being the Gaster Blasters. Each of their beams fired towards Skeletron and it's various skulls, vaporizing the projectiles and launching back the skeleton. Knowing that it was one of his strongest attacks he could use at the point, he summoned a rather large Gaster Blaster behind him, nearly the size of Skeletron.
Charging it's attack, Skeletron then dashed forward. Before it could touch Sans, though, he teleported behind the Gaster Blaster, leaving it's large white beam to blast Skeletron into oblivion, seemingly causing the floating skull and it's hands to disappear. Seemingly vaporized, though, as Sans had no idea where the remnants were.
As he calmed himself down, being somewhat more exhausted, Sans began to feel shivers down his spine. Literally. The air was seemingly getting cold around him, making Sans look around. Soon enough, he heard another roar, and a large laser broke more parts of the ceiling, and a massive, robotic replica of the skull appeared, fitted now with four arms that each had their own weapon.
Shrugging, Sans closed his eye, looking towards the skeleton.
* heh. you could have entered from the door.
Sans didn't find the joke funny, but it was somewhat difficult to think of one anyways. The replica in question, though, was Skeletron Prime. It was still the same size, though most of it was metallic, and it's four arms floated in a specific direction. As Sans looked towards it, it then proceeded to charge forward, it's lasers and cannons firing attacks towards Sans, the vice and saw floating near it.
Teleporting away from the object, Sans summoned a few Gaster Blasters that fired at the cannonballs and laser beams, colliding with them and making rather large explosions between the two skeletons. Suddenly, forcing his hand downwards, Skeletron Prime was thrown into the ground multiple times, before a few bones were summoned above.
Dropping down, they seemed to have impaled the robot, though this hadn't shown much issue towards it. Instead, it tore right out of the bones that impaled it, and suddenly, it's saw and vice charged forward, nearly hitting Sans, had he not teleported. Appearing behind the skeleton, he didn't want to get hit too easily by an attack, although he was slowly getting tired.
Pointing his hand forward, the skull was thrown, along with it's arms, surely pinning it down... For now. Sans had created a few Gaster Blasters, intending on ending the fight now, and enclosed Skeletron within a cage of bones. Sighing, the Gaster Blasters whirred, and charged their beams, but as Sans did so, Skeletron Prime's eyes had grown even more red; before breaking right out of the bone cage and past his telekinesis.
Sans had instinctively dodged, but before he could comprehend the situation, Skeletron slammed itself into Sans, stunning him. Doing so, it's lasers and cannons began firing multiple attacks, and it's vice and saw both cut and swung into Sans. Once it finished it's angry barrage, it fired a bomb upwards into the air, that landed back down and hit Sans, causing a large explosion, even larger than the others, that seemingly destroyed all that was left of Sans... At least, if there was going to be anything left.
KO![]
Skeletron merely flew back from where it came; There was nearly nothing left in the Judgement Hall, and no one was left either. Pieces of rubble and shards of glass laid everywhere around the area, and large cracks were left in the walls. The doors could barely stand, either, and would soon collapse, too, along with everything else in the hall.
Post-Analysis[]
Game and Watch: Huh. That was pretty awesome. I mean, Skeletron mostly! He had so many lasers!
ROB: Ahem. While Sans and Skeletron were rather even, both of their disadvantages and advantages played heavily into the fight. Sans was something that Skeletron could barely keep up with, whilst Sans could barely successfully harm Skeletron, due to having immunities to both poisoning and attacks that could negate it's durability, along with having what seemed to be superior durability.
Game and Watch: And of course, while Sans could totally spam enough bones to harm Skeletron, and could probably even kill Skeletron by keeping his distance, a strategy that's extremely common when fighting the boss, there was one issue. Skeletron Prime.
ROB: Skeletron Prime could fight against the Terrarian at the start of Hardmode, meaning he'd, obviously, scale to the Wall of Flesh, who was stated to hold back and seal the power of the ancient spirits of light and darkness, which can create a solar eclipse. While that might not be "strong", they'd be directly moving the moon to do so, and solar eclipses cannot happen at all whilst the spirits are sealed away, meaning that, of course, it's their own power doing so.
Game and Watch: While the feat could totally just be vague, there was still no way Sans could match that kind of power, let alone harm Skeletron Prime, who's essence is essentially pure terror! Subsequently, while Sans can dodge attacks from Frisk, and can blitz them, who is able to react to electricity, which moves at around 6706166 miles per hour... versus Skeletron's lasers, which would move at, you know, the speed of light! That's basically a 100x difference in speed, and Sans had no way to react to any attacks like that!
ROB: Not only that, but Skeletron also held more experience. As the skeletal remains of Cthulu... At least, some of him, he'd still have to retain some of the experience of him, who's fought off and nearly killed an entire race of Druids. Compare that to Sans' feat of defeating Frisk, though, and it's much more impressive.
Game and Watch: Of course, there was also the factor of abilities. Sans was definitely far more versatile with his abilities, no doubt about that, compared to Skeletron's much more limited abilities, which were easy to exploit. Sans' only issue would be against Skeletron's stunning effects, bleedings effects, and of course, homing skulls, most of which did require contact from Skeletron in the first place-- Even though that was true, Skeletron Prime did have a bit more variety with it's lasers and bombs, Sans could totally counter some of Skeletron Prime's major abilities!
ROB: It was totally down to who could hit the most in the first round, but once Sans were to kill Skeletron, he'd have no way to deal with Skeletron Prime in any way.
Game and Watch: I guess you could say Sans' chances were down to the bone!
ROB: Sigh. The winner is Skeletron.
