Description[]

Shrek vs Ice Age! I agree with Void; why have them fight separately when pitting them together as a team feels a lot more meaningful? It's not like they always travel alone. Other than that, though, it's time for these CGI-animated trios from thousands of years ago with a powerhouse loader, an airheaded coward, and a brave feline to fight.

(Connections by Void)

  • Trios of long-running CGI-animated movie franchises that originate from the early-2000s, have their stories take place thousands of years into the past and regularly feature their respective trios going on long, daring journeys through each movie for reasons that started out as seemingly grounded but soon stemmed into something completely bizarre. Despite being assembled by necessity, they soon began to enjoy each other's company and formed a strong team built on loyalty and friendship. It consists of a(n):
    • Big, brutish protagonists (Manny and Shrek) who are at first incredibly mean, grumpy, sarcastic, anti-social and seen to spend their days alone but are constantly meddled with by others around them, only to run into the deuteragonist they met after saving their lives. Said deuteragonists tag along with them much to their ire, only for the two to be forced to team up fully to deliver someone (Roshan and Fiona) to a leader of many followers (Runar and Faarquad). Both have a problem with humans due to their past history with them (Manny's family being hunted by humans and Shrek being judged/outcasted by humans), but are helped through these problems by the humans they're supposed to deliver (back when Fiona was a human) and become accepted after they complete their tasks. They also meet a love interest (Ellie and Fiona) from the same species (or at least after Fiona took her ogre form completely) who have opposing arcs where they accept their true selves thanks to the protagonist (Ellie coming to terms with the fact she's a mammoth despite thinking she's a possum prior to her upbringing and Fiona coming to terms with being an ogre despite it being a simple curse prior to her upbringing) and become engaged with the protagonist, also being a little on edge when they're pregnant in their third movie due to the stress of becoming a father but come to accept it by the time they're born. Both also end up discovering more of their species at one point. Despite being quick to anger, they care for their loved ones deep down and will do anything to protect them.
    • Annoying, dimwitted and cowardly deuteragonist sidekicks (Sid and Donkey) who at first lived with people who barely loved them (Sid's family and Donkey's owner) and were put in unfortunate positions in their lives thanks to them that led to them being chased by people the protagonists saved them from (Manny saving Sid from the two rhinos and Shrek saving Donkey from Faarquad's knights). After this, they stick with the protagonists in spite of their clear distaste for their pestering and attempted to form a friendship with them out of loneliness and a need for protection. Both are incredibly unlucky and are treated as buttmonkeys through their series, mostly being mocked by the other two main characters. They meet a large red creature (Tyrannosaurus and Dragon) that they get closer to and end up getting in a situation where they take care of three kids with them, though Sid is only with them for a short while until he's forced to leave while Donkey is with Dragon for the entirety of the Shrek franchise.
    • Swift and incredibly-skilled orange felines (Diego and Puss in Boots) who, albeit at different points in their stories, ambush the protagonist and deuteragonist for specific reasons (Diego being sent to take Roshan by Soto so they and their pack may kill him for revenge; Puss being sent to kill Shrek by King Harold due to a deal he made with the Fairy Godmother), but ultimately fail and end up teaming up with the other main characters, gaining a sense of honor and nobility as they grow closer to them. Both also have a similar dynamic with the deuteragonist where they occasionally butt heads or give witty remarks at their expense but otherwise have a strong energy when they're together. Both also end up taking some time alone from their groups. They also end up meeting snarky and level-headed yet vicious and determined grey-ish felines (Shira and Kitty Softpaws; ironically, Shira hates being called "Kitty") who they were at first enemies with but through a chain of events, both reluctantly team up as they grow closer to them and are convinced to fully join their sides by the end of the movies they met them in. Both come off as incredibly tactical and threatening, but are actually really sweet deep down if you get on their good side.
  • The battle would be animated in 3D.
  • The track title would be A Tale As Old As Time.
