History[]

The life of Shirou Emiya before the Fuyuki Fire is a complete mystery, even to himself. Following the tragedy, he was rescued and adopted by the mage Kiritsugu Emiya, and from then on they lived as father and son, Shirou pestering him to teach him magecraft until he relented. Their time together then led to a fateful night in which Kiritsugu lamented his pipe dream to become a hero of justice, Shirou vowing to inherit that ideal as his own before Kiritsugu peacefully passed. In the years that followed, Shirou lived his entire life molded by that ideal, to become a person who lived to serve others and their happiness. However at his core, Shirou is a hollow shell of a human being, with no other purpose to him except his relentless desire to save everyone as a hero of justice. This all comes to a head come the advent of the Fifth Holy Grail War, in which he either pushes his ideals to their limit to find a new path, faces his hypocrisy but persevering despite it, or abandoning them for the sake of one person he loves.

Shirou's Bow
- A redesigned projection of Archer's bow
- Suited to fit his archery style
- Created through Reinforcement and Structural magecraft instead of Projection
Kanshou and Bakuya: Gan Jiàng and Mò Yé
- Rank: C-
- Married twin swords created by the Blacksmith known as Gan Jiàng
- Traced from witnessing Archer using them in battle
- The Blades' Primary Ability is to allow the blades to attract each other and return to the owner
  - If one is thrown while the other is held then the thrown will return to its wielder in a similar fashion to a Boomerang
- Can be utilized with Projection to allow an already Projected Sword to identify a new projection as its partner

Weaknesses and Faults[]

Extremely severe case of survivor's guilt and hero complex
Willingly jumps in the path of fatal attacks to protect people far stronger than himself
Overusing Archer's Arm will destroy his body and mind
Incredibly limited in his magecraft, projecting anything besides weapons is difficult for him
Is unable to trace certain unique Noble Phantasms such as Gilgamesh's Ea
Due to neglecting his magic circuits and instead using his own nerves (as he was taught by Kiritsugu who did not want him to learn magecraft, only doing so from Shirou's constant demands), his use of his magecraft is imperfect and inflicts severe pain on himself (described as feeling like driving a hot rod into his spine).
- Because of this and lack of a magic crest, his magecraft is extremely lackluster compared to more competent mages like Rin Tohsaka (and his Parallel/alternative counterpart in Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya).
- Reinforcement is a foundation-level spell and projection as a craft is regarded as incomplete and useless outside of immediate utility.
Because he was told by Kiritsugu to abandon Projection for Reinforcement, his projection is very weak until he directly receives experience and advice from his future self, Archer
- In the Fate route, he can only project Caliburn and Avalon because he did not gain Archer's experience
- Was only able to take on Archer and Gilgamesh in UBW because clashing with Archer caused his experiences and memories to leak into Shirou
- In Heaven's Feel, was only able to trace weapons with the use of Archer's Arm, which is fatal with overuse
