No More Heroes vs Scott Pilgrim

Two high school students who fall for the main protagonists of their respective series after their first confrontation with them. Despite the young demeanor of these two warriors when compared to others in their series, they are both formidable foes that utilize their deadly ninja skill in combat and for stalking, and uphold the skills of their fathers.

Interlude[]

(Cue: Wiz and Boomstick - Brandon Yates)

Shinobu Death Battle Intro Card

Wiz: Scarlet 'Shinobu' Jacobs, the former eighth ranked assassin in the UAA and daughter of Master Jacobs.

Knives Death Battle Intro Card

Boomstick: And Knives Chau, the exe full-blood ninja girlfriend of Scott Pilgrim and daughter of samurai warrior Mr.Chau.

Wiz: Ninjas are amongst some of the most iconic Japanese warriors in history, with skill unlike any other in their league. With such popularity, it's no wonder that so many franchises have ninjas featured in their stories in some capacity.

Boomstick: With Scott Pilgrim and No More Heroes though, they take all of those sacred ninja arts and give it to teenage high schoolers!

Wiz: Trained under their fathers, these two have incredible skill in acrobatics and stealthery unlike anyone else in their series... which they use to occasionally stalk and attempt to gain the affection of their love interests.

Boomstick: He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick!

Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skill to find out who would win... a Death Battle.

Shinobu Jacobs[]

(Cues: Beam Katana Chronicles - No More Heroes)

Wiz: In the city of Santa Destroy, an otaku named Travis Touchdown joins the United Assassins Association to become the number one assassin in the country.

Boomstick: That's a pretty badass title to have! Unfortunately for Travis, ten of the most elite killers stood in his path to becoming the best, because why wouldn't they.

Wiz: At rank eight stood the youngest of all the assassins within the UAA, a high school ninja master named Scarlet Jacobs, better known as Shinobu.

Shinobu Death Battle Background

(Cues: Season of the Samurai - No More Heroes)

Wiz: Take note, the word "Shinobu" is in direct reference to a Shinobi, which is part of the Japanese word for Ninja[1]. This was her cover name she used as an assassin.

Boomstick: Huh, really hammering home that whole ninja part of her character there, it makes sense given she's one kick-ass ninja assassin!

Wiz: Under her father's teachings, Master Jacobs, Shinobu was trained in the ways of ninjutsu her whole life. And after her father's death at the hand of a beam katana-wielding assassin, she would set off into the UAA in hopes of finding her father's killer.

Boomstick: Yeah yeah, standard revenge quest bullshit. Sadly for Shinobu, she wouldn't make it too far after facing Travis Touchdown, who happened to be wielding a Beam Katana…

Wiz: Don't get the wrong idea, Travis didn't kill Master Jacobs. He actually has a deep respect for him and would constantly watch his teachings on tape. The killer is never established, although there is a potential candidate.

Boomstick: Heh, would really suck if it was a random Pizza Batt employee that killed Master Jacobs, eh Wiz?

Wiz: Probably not, anyway, despite Travis enjoying killing and wanting to become the number one assassin, he ultimately spared Shinobu in hopes of fighting her again… at least that's what he would want you to believe.

Boomstick: In actuality, Travis was just a massive pussy who was too scared to kill a woman, which lead him to sparing Shinobu.

Wiz: Even after being dishonored in such a fashion, she would not only forgive Travis, but ultimately help him in his conquest to becoming the number one assassin.

(Cues: Arashi - Pete Masitti)

Boomstick: Of course, being a ninja gave her tons of useful techniques and skills to not only keep up with the competition, but get ahead.

Wiz: Given Shinobu's weapons which consist of the Three Girl Rhumba's Sword and Jacob's Ladder, both of which are ninjato blades, she's likely trained in the art of kenjutsu, which is the primary sword style honed by Japanese warriors.

Wiz: She also happens to know how to use a broadsword in combat, though she much prefers her regular kitana blade.

Boomstick: Damn! An expert in multiple styles! She makes sure you recognize her skill in combat. She's named most of her heavy-hitting attacks that Shinobu telegraphs before delivering the pain!

Shinobu Death Battle Techniques

Wiz: That's right Boomstick. With the Black Sunday, Shinobu performs a forward flip into a powerful sword lunge.

Boomstick: And with the similarly named Bloody Sunday, she performs not only a forward flip into her opponents, but a backflip that launches her foes in the air!

Boomstick: And not only is she able to outdo most of her opponents in close quarters thanks to her skill and amazing techniques, she also has a deadly ranged attack called the Sonic Sword!

Wiz: Also called Gentōken by her in No More Heroes 2, Shinobu channels a pink aura around her blade and launches it in the form of one to five consecutive cutting projectiles that explode on impact with a target.

Boomstick: Pretty impressive! Reminds me of the time I wore a katana on my leg. It ended up slicing through the ground.

Wiz: Wait a second-was that my model of the Beam Katana Boomstick? So it was you who took it, I should've known after I had seen burn marks throughout the lab floor!

Boomstick: Hey! It's not my fault your dumbass couldn't lock the glass casing. You were basically asking me to test it!

(Music cuts abruptly)

. . .

(Cue: Shamisen Chikara - Pete Masitti)

Wiz: Ugh… anyway, alongside her already outstanding ninjutsu mastery, Shinobu is accompanied with the bloodlust of an assassin.

Shinobu Death Battle Abilities

Boomstick: This isn't just your typical rage power you get from seeing your best friend kick the bucket kind of bloodlust, this is basically a supernatural sense that allows you to do all kinds of things! Hey Wiz, I know where every beer within a thirty-seven mile radius is!

Wiz: That's actually pretty close to how the bloodlust works in No More Heroes. See, your bloodlust allows you to sense incoming attacks and threats long before they're even near you. That's why Travis couldn't land a sneak attack on Shinobu in their first fight.

Boomstick: Your bloodlust can even do crazy shit like keep you alive even after taking fatal damage! Talk about wacky, Suda51 was on something when making these characters.

Wiz: With all of this in mind, your bloodlust within the Kill the Past universe acts as a double edged sword. While you can sense your foes and their incoming attacks, so can they. It really comes down to how well trained you are in controlling your senses.

Boomstick: And in Shinobu's case, she's one of the best, with the whole ninja arts and what-not.

Wiz: Shinobu is trained in Bushido, which is a code of conduct amongst the samurai. It follows the idea that honor comes before life, and it's this very moral code that Shinobu passes on to the next generation.

Boomstick: Spoiler alert, but after taking a rather nasty rejection from her new master Travis Touchdown, she reforms herself into a better person, and learns to become independent!

Wiz: It was only after this realization and growth as a person could she face Travis Touchdown once again, not only helping him throughout his journey in the Death Drive Mk II, but also aid him in his fight against Fu's alien invasion.

• Although Shinobu has used the Death Drive console in the DLC for Travis Strikes Again, it's not something she has regular access to or would realistically want to use in battle.

(Cue: We Are Finally Cowboys - GaMetal Remix)

Shinobu Death Battle Feats

Boomstick: If it wasn't clear already, Shinobu's one powerful killer. She's able to kill trained assassins with years of practice.

Wiz: Some of these assassins include New Destroyman, a former UAA assassin who was actually ranked higher than Shinobu in the first No More Heroes.

Boomstick: She even managed to slice Fu's head off, who's the same Fu that destroys planets for fun!

Wiz: Assuming that "destroy" in context is referring to making a planet uninhabitable like we see with Mr.Black Hole's planet, that would require a power output of over 183 Petatons of TNT[2]!

• This is a lower end for Fu's planet destruction, as unranked aliens are implied to have the power to freeze over and destroy whole planets, who Fu is easily above.

Boomstick: Not only is Shinobu extremely strong, but she's also extremely fast. Shinobu is capable of completely disappearing from sight, and is even faster than a Fullface alien who can draw their swords at the speed of light!

Wiz: To be clear, faster than light reactions isn't new. Characters like Travis Touchdown have been able to instinctively dodge lasers as early as the beginning of No More Heroes.

Boomstick: Instinctively? Like with the bloodlust we mentioned?

Wiz: Correct. Meaning that Shinobu is more than capable of doing what Travis has done in his early career.

Boomstick: Holy hell! These characters are bad ass! It's too bad that Shinobu was decommissioned for most of No More Heroes 3.

Wiz: Unfortunately, that does touch on Shinobu's biggest weakness. She is a rather predictable fighter who leaves herself open to near-fatal attacks. That's why she lost both of her arms to Fu in their first fight.

Wiz: She even goes as far as to taunt her opponent occasionally after finishing a combo, regardless if she kills the target or not. Not exactly the most brilliant habit to have.

Boomstick: Well Wiz, when most of your opponents get sliced like butter, it's kinda hard not to taunt them. And in the end, she does cut that son of a bitch Fu down to size!

Wiz: Thus proving Shinobu is a ninja not even the galaxy wants to mess with!

Knives Chau[]

Boomstick: Not so long ago... in the mysterious land... of Toronto Canada... Scott Pilgrim was dating a high schooler.

(Cue: Scott Pilgrim's Fairy Fountain - Scott Pilgrim vs the World)

Wiz: Wow Boomstick, that was almost spot on.

Boomstick: Thanks, I've been practicing for this script!

Wiz: After an unfortunate breakup between the now rockstar Envy Adams and the not-so famous Scott Pilgrim, Scott would fall into a year-long depression, becoming unemployed in the process.

Boomstick: Reminds me of my exe and our breakup, except the only thing comparing her to a star was her size!

Wiz: Oh how hilarious…

Boomstick: But all of that would change for Scott after meeting Knives Chau.

...

Boomstick: Okay, but Wiz, Knives is probably one of the coolest names to name a child. That's just so badass for a ninja of all things!

Knives Death Battle Background

(Cue: The Hunt - River City Girls)

Wiz: For Knives, meeting Scott was love at first sight.

Boomstick: I'm not gonna lie Wiz, dating a high schooler is pretty low for Scott to stoop to. Man must've been pretty desperate.

Wiz: Oh no doubt, especially since Knives was, for the most part, a regular high school girl who had merely experienced love for the first time. A love that was rather one-sided might I add.

Wiz: But after Scott would promptly cheat on her with Ramona Flowers, and soon after break up with Knives, she would seek her revenge on the girl who stole her man's heart.

Boomstick: Wait, she just assumed it was Ramona's fault and not that Scott was just a douchebag? Did she really not pick up on these signs in their relationship?

Wiz: What love does to one… Anyway, Knives is an extraordinarily skilled fighter in the world of Scott Pilgrim. She was most likely trained by her father, Mr.Chau, who is a seasoned sudo ninja-samurai warrior.

Boomstick: A mixture of the two? That's pretty badass! Because of her father's experience in various martial arts, including the previously covered kenjutsu, Knives is naturally efficient at using a variety of weapons in combat!'

Knives Death Battle Arsenal

Wiz: Knives is commonly seen using two tanto blades in most media, which she uses both in close quarters combat, and as occasional throwing weapons.

Boomstick: Although when she feels like being an aerial spammer, she can launch three throwing knives per throw that explode on contact!

Wiz: She can throw these knives so fast that she pushes herself into the air! That is literally impossible to do. A real testament to how irregular the world of Scott Pilgrim is.

Boomstick: Now that's wacky! She also can use her long scarf as a whip of sort, really getting creative with her tools!

Wiz: She's even used it to disarm her opponents in the middle of combat, like she did to the seventh evil exe, Gideon Graves in the movie.

• Although the movie and game-exclusive abilities aren't being featured for Knives in this fight (I.e the Power of Love and Extra Lives), the inclusion of the secondary media isn't completely restricted for her innate physical abilities.

Boomstick: Along with having experience with various weapons, she also happens to be pretty efficient in close quarters combat. And if my memory serves me correctly, Knives is likely trained in the samurai martial art jujitsu.

Wiz: That's not all to Knives however. We've brought up that the world of Scott Pilgrim is a rather unique one, but the extents as to why are truly incredible.

Knives Death Battle Abilities

Boomstick: So for starters, Toronto basically follows the rules of classic video games which everyone is follows the rules of.

Boomstick: This includes turning people into money when they die. Man Wiz, I wish I could do that...

Wiz: That's severely underplaying the sheer potential in powers that you gain whilst under these rules. You can access save points, points, stat boosts, inventory space, and much more.

Boomstick: Yeah uh... how the hell is that even possible Wiz? Is there like an explanation for any of this?

Wiz: Actually yes, the explanation is the phenomenon known as Subspace. There's actually a team I've heard about that've studied the powers of Subspace[3].

• Thanks to Bryan's Seconds, the world of Scott Pilgrim is confirmed to be a multiverse with countless alternate timelines, to which characters from different series make cameos. For this reason, the abilities shown throughout Bryan's various books can be compared to each other.

Wiz: In short, subspace allows you to alter reality based on how you view it through unconscious thought. This means that anyone can access its power within the Scott Pilgrim universe.

Boomstick: That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard... I like it! Where can I get this Subspace?

Wiz: Well, Subspace is within your mind, which is categorized as mind subspace. In your mind subspace, anything you believe in or view as will become real. That's basically how Scott created the Power of Love, as an example.

Boomstick: Look Wiz! I made a zentouple-barreled shotgun that fires beer! This is the best thing ever!

Wiz: The power of Subspace is one with many mysteries, but from the little we do know, it makes any fighter with a creative outlook on reality a deadly foe!

Boomstick: If it wasn't clear, Knives has a lot of power behind her small demeanor. From creating massive walls of smoke shaped like text to the previously mentioned powers like a video game, Knives is one formidable fighter!

(Cue: Samurai - Pete Masatti)

Knives Death Battle Feats

Wiz: Knives is one of the fastest characters we've seen in the franchise, being capable of jumping four storeys within seconds. This makes sense given she is a ninja, who are portrayed as incredibly swift in-series.

Wiz: For this reason, she should be comparable to half-ninja Roxanne Richter, who moves fast enough to appear in multiple places at once and as a blur.

Boomstick: Knives has even used her blazing speed to completely blitz and stun a bloodlusted Envy Adams. And this is the same Envy Adams who managed to make Todd Ingram shed tears of pain with a kick!

• Although fans in the scene noted that Envy struck Todd in his "weak point", this is moreso referring to the male genitals being the most sensitive part of the body, and shouldn't be taken as a literal weak point. Furthermore, it was pure speculation amongst the fans in the crowd, not direct proof of Todd having a weak point on him.

Wiz: Todd Ingram is the vegan guy infamous for his punch to the moon… twice! All before receiving his iconic vegan powers no less.

Boomstick: Holy hell, Todd Ingram can fly?! How the hell is that possible?

Wiz: Well he didn't fly persay, he jumped to the moon, and before Ramona could even process him leaving.

Wiz: Based on the standard image processing speed for humans, which is thirteen milliseconds, and factoring in the distance of the moon from Earth, Todd would have had to have been moving over ninety-eight times the speed of light!

Boomstick: That is fast! Not only can Envy land a hit on Todd Ingram, but Roxanne is treated as faster than Todd when it comes to movement speed.

• Characters like Scott Pilgrim scaling to Todd Ingram has been a highly debated topic that many are split on. However, a large informative blog has been made here.[4]

Wiz: And while she has lost in both battles against her rival, Ramona Flowers, Knives has kept up with her and grazed her face with her weapons.

Boomstick: And Ramona is even tougher than Todd by the time volume five roles around.

Boomstick: With all of these awesome abilities and skills, you'd think Knives would be one of the most formidable foes in the series, but she unfortunately has one of the worst losing streaks.

Wiz: Despite the varied arsenal of Knives Chau, she does have some glaring flaws, which hold her back from ever beating her tougher opponents.

Boomstick: Even with her skill in weapons and martial arts, Knives has a severe lack of direct fighting experience, which holds her back from contending with the likes of Ramona Flowers.

Wiz: In the end however, she really didn't need to be a challenger to Ramona. Knives came to understand the importance of maturing and loving yourself, allowing her to fully understand the damage Scott did to her in high school.

Boomstick: Enough with that sappy bullshit Wiz. If you ever manage to piss off Knives Chau, you can expect to have your ass handed to you in a heartbeat!

Intermission[]

(Cue: Wiz and Boomstick - Brandon Yates)

Wiz: All right, the combatants are set! We've run the data through all possibilities!

Boomstick: IT’S TIME FOR A DEATH BATTLE!!!

Death Battle[]

Pre-Fight[]

(Cue: The Past and You - Slime Rancher)

It was a warm evening day at the Santa Destroy high school. The sun stood over the horizon, as the students of the school played in the courtyard without much of a care, waiting for their respective buses to arrive and pick them up.

The winds were strong, carrying occasional trash and leaves across the fields of the school. A few decaying leaves are seen rising to the roofs of the top floor roof, where a lone girl in black clothing sat, staring off into the distance.

The girl was Knives Chau, and she was keeping to herself, collecting her thoughts after breaking up with her once boyfriend Scott Pilgrim. The breakup was only four hours ago, and she questioned what possibly could have gone wrong in their relationship.

Meanwhile, on one of the basketball courts…

(The Music cuts momentarily)

A young woman with a white afro is seen on her phone, calling an anonymous person.

Anonymous Caller: Your next ranked assassin is a young Canadian adult named Scott Pilgrim. He is ranked number seven.

White-haired woman: That's all you've got? I can do more for Travis; I'll take out every ranked assassin if I need to.

Anonymous Caller: No, this is all I will offer you Shinobu. This is still Travis' fight.

The caller hangs up...

Shinobu: Dammit, why does that bitch think she can boss me around like that? Well it doesn't matter now, I have my target…

Knives' senses were tingling (They alert her of potential threats to Scott Pilgrim) and she noticed an odd-looking girl on the basketball court. Without thinking twice, Knives swiftly jumps from the roof of the school and lands behind the katana-wielding warrior.

Knives Chau VS Shinobu Jacobs Fight One Sharaku

Knives stares the motionless woman down, preparing her next words carefully.

Knives: You're planning on hurting the man who broke my heart, aren't you? Do you really think I will let you get away with killing Scott you cow?!

Shinobu turns sharply and draws her blade with no hesitation.

Shinobu: Excuse me? Do you know who the fuck you're talking to in that tone? I'll slice your head into five clean cuts!

Knives, although somewhat surprised by the delivery of the threat, felt even more anger towards Shinobu, enough so that she retrieved her blades and readied herself for combat.

Knives: You'll never lay a finger on Scott, fatty! It's time for you to chow down!

Fight![]

(Cue: Wish of the Planet - Brandon Yates)

Knives swiftly leaps several meters into the air and dives down above Shinobu, to which the grounded samurai easily blocks the incoming Knives with her katana and throws her back with a forward thrust.

Thud!

Knives: Ouch!

Knives, barely catching herself after being flung back to her original standing position, regains her stance and stares Shinobu down with hatred in her eyes.

Shinobu: Your fighting style is unimpressive. You need more training to match me in battle!

Knives was shaken up by Shinobu's cocky words, but she knew directly fighting wouldn't result in a smooth victory for her. She began planning her next moves with caution.

Knives: Okay, I know how to defeat you. I'm done warming up!

Knives once again leaps into the air, only this time, she quickly throws dozens of knives in Shinobu's direction, propelling herself higher into the air in the process.

Shinobu blocks a few of the small blades while the rest merely graze the air around her. This however played directly into Knives' plan, as the throwing knives that made contact with the ground exploded, knocking Shinobu off her feet and into the air where she was vulnerable.

Knives: Hah! All part of the plan! Time to finish your sorry ass!

Knives hops off a nearby basketball goal, performing a spin attack before landing a solid kick on Shinobu's back. This causes Shinobu to fall back down to the court and create a small crater where she previously stood.

Crash!

Shinobu gets back to her feet, with but a few bruises on her left arm, and the back of her neck slightly swollen.

Shinobu: Dammit! I underestimated your skill. I won't make that mistake again…

Shinobu bends her knees and begins to charge her blade with a pink aura, creating sparks of electricity around her body.

Knives, unaware of Shinobu's next attack, braces herself and begins throwing additional blades in Shinobu's direction to potentially stop her future move.

Shinobu: Gentōken!

Within an instant, a large cutting wave of energy rockets towards Knives, cutting through and evaporating her previously thrown knives with ease.

The blade-shaped projectile collides with Knives, sending her flying outside the basketball court and into the school. Shortly following were several large explosions that shook the school grounds, frightening the students into running away.

Boom!

(Music Cuts momentarily)

Knives, hit with enough impact to create a crater within the school walls, lands back on her feet, catching her breath before catching a glimpse of Shinobu jumping from the walls and preparing for a descending strike.

(Music kicks back up)

Knives: What was that?! Are you a psychic samurai as well?

Knives backflips onto the wall and bounces up towards Shinobu to clash with her foe and gain the advantage again.

Unfortunately for the Chinese warrior, Shinobu was prepared for this, and so she began to launch more projectiles like the previous.

Shinobu: Sonic Sword!

Before Knives could get in close enough, five familiar projectiles swiftly approach her at incomprehensible speeds.

One by one, the projectiles strike Knives, stringing her along for Shinobu to perform a clean aerial combo that causes Knives to spin uncontrollably.

Shinobu: You have no moe!

Knives quickly recovers before hitting one of the walls, however, and uses her scarf to wrap around Shinobu's waist and swing around her to deliver various kicks to the restrained samurai's body.

Knives: Why are Americans always the worst?! First Ramona takes Scott from me, and now you're trying to kill him?! Why are you all such douchebags?!

Knives, with her scarf still tied to Shinobu, spins her around and launches the opposing warrior into the wall at great speeds, leaving Shinobu open to a fleet of massive throwing knives to explode around her.

Boom!

(Music cuts once more)

The room goes silent, and Knives lands safely on the ground. She observes closely at the wall where the ashes of her target should be, but to her shock, there was nothing.

...

Crack!

Knives: AUGH!

Suddenly, from behind, Shinobu appears and delivers a powerful punch that punctures a hole in Knives' left shoulder.

Shinobu had only just missed Knives' chest. She capitalized on her error, however, and launched her opponent into the air once again and readied her blade for a lunge attack.

Shinobu: For the record, the business you have with one of my targets is the least of my concern, nor do I give a fuck if they mean anything to you or not. This job is far more important than a simple high school relationship!

Shinobu jumped into the air and spun at a high speed in order to make the final slice as easy as possible.

Shinobu: Besides, this Scott Pilgrim creep sounds like a total asshole, you shouldn't even bother with him!

With a single slice, Knives' body was brutally cut down the middle, leaving a fountain of blood between the two halves.

Shinobu: I will admit, your power was unlike most I've seen, and you certainly gave me a run for my money.

...

Shinobu: But this fight was decided long before it started!

Suddenly, a ray of light from the school roof beams below and a pixelated head of Knives appears with a counter blinking one to zero.

Knives drops down and delivers a kick to Shinobu's chest, creating a large shockwave and sending her back down to the ground. Knives lands back in front of Shinobu with a stern face.

Knives: You're right… I shouldn't even be fighting for him. He wronged me and doesn't even care…

Knives draws her blades once again.

Knives: So I won't fight for him… I'll kill you for myself!

(Cue: Blade of Guilt - Brandon Yates)

Knives gains a large amount of exp, empowering her with a blinking yellow aura, and proceeds to dash in an unpredictable manner towards the weakened Shinobu.

Stab!

Knives pierces the chest of Shinobu, causing large quantities of blood to stain her shirt and Knives' arm.

Shinobu: Fuck off with that! I have someone I actually need to fight for unlike you!

Shinobu, now enraged, retaliates and barely misses Knives' right arm, cutting her scarf instead. Knives backflips and fires several throwing blades at Shinobu.

Shinobu: I don't need your bullshit inner strength to justify my actions either! I'll end your life simply for standing in my way!

Shinobu, though physically hurt, tanks each knife with little visible restraint on her movement and lunges in the air at Knives, slicing through the skin on her chest.

Both jump to opposing sides of the school walls, tired and wounded, and dash towards each other, clashing blades whilst ascending higher and higher into the school.

Crumble!

The sheer power of each collision between the two warriors causes the school to begin crumbling and falling apart.

Crack!

Eventually, the two deliver one final strike at the peak of the building's height, and the final clash destroys the foundations of the school, causing everything to fall alongside the wounded warriors.

Both Shinobu & Knives: Oh shit!

As the two fall, they each land on a large chunk of rubble falling down, and the two begin one last clash to end the duel once and for all.

Shinobu charges her blade with a pink aura so powerful, her body begins to smoke from the heat.

Knives readies her two blades and dashes into the air with such speed that she leaves a figure of smoke in her wake.

The two ascend into an ark fashion before slicing at each at the exact same time.

(The Music Cuts into complete silence)

...

Shinobu: AUGH!!

Shinobu screams in agony as blood splashes around her and she loses the grip on her blade.

Knives: Time to end this!

Knives dashes above Shinobu's body and drives her blades through the defeated samurai's chest and begins to descend to the ground, slowly turning Shinobu's body into money as they begin to land.

THUD!

Instead of a splatter of blood, Shinobu's whole body was reduced to simple coins scattered across the ruined school floors.

Knives, exhausted from the intense final duel between her and the white-haired swordsman, falls to the ground and stares at the sky with a weak smile on her face.

Knives: I did it! I've won…

Shinobu's blade falls to the ground and buries itself into a blood-stained pile of rubble not too far off from Knives.

...

KO![]

Knives appears back at home, eating with her family and tending to her wounds.

Shinobu respawns back at her sleeping quarters in a cold sweat, questioning what just happened and trying to find her blade.

Conclusion[]

Boomstick: So uh, who's gonna pay for all of that collateral damage done to the school? It's certainly not going to be me Wiz.

Wiz: This fight was incredibly close, but not for the reasons you might think. Knives was certainly outclassed in sheer strength and durability.

Boomstick: Fighting an alien who can surface wipe entire planets is a little more impressive than putting a dimple in the moon.

Wiz: Using a shot of the moon outside of Ramona's flashback, we've deduced that the hole diameter is roughly a fourth of the moon's actual diameter.

Wiz: Assuming the depth of the moon crater is half of its radius, and using the pulverization value for rock, that makes Todd's moon punch nearly 8 petatons. Impressive, but that pales in comparison to the low-balled 183 petatons that Fu can dish out.

Boomstick: That's over 23 times greater than Todd's moon punch. How exactly was Knives beating that?

Wiz: Simply put, the powers of subspace leveled the playing field for Knives.

Boomstick: Yeah thanks to that whole turn-your-foe-into-money thing, Knives only needed one good hit to end the fight.

• Although Shinobu could survive fatal blows for a time thanks to her bloodlust, it wouldn't allow her to survive complete deconstruction of the body. In contrast, Knives could always come back as long as she wanted to thanks to Subspace.

Wiz: So this turned us to other factors, such as speed and skill.

Boomstick: Shinobu was, without a doubt, the better sword fighter and had generally more experience in combat, but Knives had a much broader move pool and set of martial art skills at her disposal to counter Shinobu's mostly limited arsenal.

Wiz: Even when in close quarters, Knives still had several abilities to throw Shinobu off her feet, such as creating a wall of smoke to stun Shinobu.

Boomstick: Or use that scarf-jitsu to restrain Shinobu's sword from being usable, therefore leaving her open to a fatal strike.

Wiz: Sure Shinobu could overwhelm Knives with her projectiles Gentōken and Sonic Sword, however Knives also had the advantage in speed.

Boomstick: Being faster than light is impressive, but being 98 times faster is just ridiculous in comparison.

Boomstick: Hell, we could even be generous and scale Shinobu to Travis' fastest attack, and it still would be too slow to keep up with Knives!

Wiz: Taking Travis' fastest attack and comparing it to the Fullface, Travis should be about 12 times faster than light [5]. That makes Knives a little over 8 times faster.

• Although there are showings of universal travel in No More Heroes 3 that could easily be quadrillions of times faster than light, Knives can scale to Envy Adams who intercepted instant teleportation, giving her a much greater edge in speed than what's established here.

Boomstick: What about Shinobu's bloodlust Wiz? Couldn't that allow her to predict incoming attacks from Knives and help her prepare a counterstrike?

Wiz: While she would have the knowledge of Knives' next attack, she wouldn't be able to consistently dodge it. Especially not with the amount of projectiles Knives can throw at once.

Wiz: Shinobu was a tough opponent with skill easily able to dominate most fighters in a swordfight, but Knives was simply too fast and too diverse for Shinobu to beat.

Boomstick: Seem's that Shino-won't be chowing down on a victory tonight!

Wiz: The winner is Knives Chau.

Q&A and Author's notes[]

Howdy visitor, I hope you enjoyed my first fight here on Death Battle Fanon Wiki! Please consider dropping a comment critizing the script and layout so I can improve for the next time.

For those who are confused my factors not being mentioned or representation of a specific arc of the character, please leave a comment asking your questions, and I will reply to them here!

Q: Why was NMH2 Shinobu and Pre-Volume Six Knives used in the fight?

A: I wanted to use versions of the characters that would have the most realistic motive to fight. Having NMH3 Shinobu and Epilogue Knives fight would be really difficult to create conflict between.

  5. No More Heroes - Attack Speed Compilation: Vs Battle Wiki Now, to calculate the movement made by these guys. Police batons, which is what the Fullface's weapon seems to be modeled after, are roughly 60 cm long. Average arm length is 63.5 cm, let's highball it a bit to make the result more conservative, 125 cm for weapon + arm x pi = 392.69 cm. Meanwhile, for Travis' thrusts I'll use full arm length, but to thrust he has to pull it back then move it forward again so double that… (127 x 3) / (392.69 / 13) = 12.613 c, FTL+
