History[]

Shiki was born the second child of the Ryougi family, a (now former) family of demon hunters who developed multiple personalities within themselves in order to learn a larger set of skills. When her brother failed to develop a second personality, Shiki was chosen as the successor of the family after developing a masculine personality called SHIKI, resulting in her being trained in combat as well as learning other skills needed by a family head. However, the second personality SHIKI felt homicidal impulses, resulting in Ryougi Shiki being involved in several murders. After these murders, she was involved in a traffic accident, leaving her in a coma for two years. When she awoke, her second personality was gone; and Shiki discovered that she had gained the "Mystic Eyes of Death Perception," a supernatural ability that allows her to view the death of any given object and destroy its origin.

Mystic Eyes of Death Perception[]

As the owner of the Mystic Eyes of Death Perception, Shiki has the ability to see the 'lines of death' on everything. A cut along any line will bifurcate the target, no matter the sharpness of the cutting tool used, and ultimately destroy the target's origin; causing instant death. She was even able to use this ability on flowers by tracing her finger across the lines.
Since the Mystic Eyes directly attack and destroy a being's concept instead of their body, wounds inflicted by them cannot be healed by any means, and negate all forms of defense and can kill beings considered immortal or capable of reincarnating.
The Mystic Eyes also can apply lines of death onto abstract or formless things such as Fujino Asagami's distortions from her own Mystic Eyes, as well as the illness that afflicts her body, enabling her to destroy them.

Prosthetic Arm[]

A puppet arm constructed by Touko Aozaki, this prosthetic arm has the ability to grasp spiritual entities such as ghosts, even from a considerable distance. It is stated to be durable enough to withstand an elephant's strength and the arm also contains a hidden compartment where Shiki holds a spare knife.

Kanesada Kuji[]

A 500-year old katana that contains enough mystery to compare to Noble Phantasms and slice through bounded fields.
With its additional length and Shiki's extensive training in swordfighting, she becomes leagues more formidable with a sword than she would be with a knife (stated to be comparable to the distance between knife-wielding Shiki and fodder puppets).
She also is capable of using self-suggestion to transform her body into a living weapon, so much so she doesn't need to breathe.
It is implied that she taps into her "Void" personality when she does this
Once the sword breaks, it will lose its Mystery upon repair, considerably lessening its power.

Shiki Ryougi[]

Unbeknownst to herself, Shiki possessed a hidden third personality from her birth with a direct connection to the Root. This personality is one and the same with the Root and possesses the Origin of "Void". Shiki Ryougi is the creator of Shiki and SHIKI, and possesses a level of comprehension of the world that transcends all others, as she is connected to the cause and effect of nothing and everything all at once. She claims to be omnipotent, and is omniscient, but her combat prowess in of itself is still within the margins of humanity.
When not considering Servants, it is stated that only Arcueid Brunestud is stronger than her in the Nasuverse.

Faults and Weaknesses[]

Shiki's Mystic Eyes ability requires contact to properly affect her target.
At a distance, her only option is throwing her knife.
She is far more effective with a sword than a knife
Shiki Ryougi is apathetic and sees everything as meaningless, meaning she sees no reason to fight or intervene at any moment.
Shiki must be able to visually identify her target to use her Mystic Eyes, but she doesn't actually need her eyes to "see" the lines of death.
Accessing higher levels of lines of death to kill targets with more obscure concepts of death require Shiki to overheat her brain and tap into imagination
