This is a What If? Death Battle by GetSkadooshed. It features Shadow Mario from Super Mario and Mimikyu from Pokemon.
Description[]
Two of Nintendo's dangerous doppelgangers will go head to head.
Intro[]
Wiz: At a certain point in a hero's life when they become popular and famous in their universe they are bound to make enemies and rivals that will try to copy their looks.
Boomstick: Like Shadow Mario, Bowser Jr.'s watery disguise.
Wiz: And Mimikyu, the disguise Pokemon.
Boomstick: He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick.
Wiz: And we are going to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win in a Death Battle!
Shadow Mario[]
Wiz: The Mushroom Kingdom is a vast and strange world filled with all types of unique creatures, beings, and areas. Luckily it is protected by the fat Italian plumber Mario!
Boomstick: Hey, don't forget his brother!
Wiz: Oh and Luigi is there too.
Boomstick: But even Mario needs to go on vacation. I mean saving a princess daily from a dragon turtle monster can be pretty tiring.
Wiz: And what better way to spend this vacation but in the sun-drenched tropical paradise of Isle Delfino!
Boomstick: It was going pretty well but after shortly reaching their destination, in a matter of like 5 minutes Mario discovered a water jetpack and used it to defend himself and his friends from a giant gooey Piranha Plant only for Mario to get arrested. What the hell they just landed!?
Wiz: Apparently, Mario was causing a bunch of trouble around the island before they even landed. Obviously this was later revealed to actually be an imposter. In order for Mario to clear his name he must get rid of all the paint on the island and capture this imposter that framed him in the first place.
Boomstick: And when the two finally came face to face this imposter appeared to be all watery blue, had red eyes, and carried a long paint brush staff. In summary he looked nothing like Mario other than their body shape and the people of Isle Delfino are absolute dumbasses.
Wiz: The imposter quickly went under the name of Shadow Mario.
Boomstick: He's not even black!
Wiz: Umm okay, Shadow Mario wields a magic paintbrush designed by the inventor Professor Elvin Gadd, the same person who created Luigi's special vacuum. This paintbrush allows Shadow Mario to create gooey projectiles to deal damage and spawn goo versions of Mario enemies like Proto/Polluted Piranha Plants.
Boomstick: To make things worse the goo can even burn, electrify, makes surfaces slippery, cover your vision, can create portals, drain someone's life, and he can use his brush as a makeshift racket to deflect projectiles!
Wiz: After a shockingly reveal, Shadow Mario was actually Bowser's son the whole time! He was wearing a special mask which shape-shifted him into a watery Mario. In this form he can perform all of Mario's jumping abilities (Spin jumping, triple jumping, wall jumping, etc.), he can turn himself into paint particles, and is able to rival Mario both in speed and probably even in strength.
Boomstick: Mario by the way has shown to be fast enough to outrun lasers and bullet bills! And Shadow Mario can outrun him for some time while carrying Peach at the same time!
Wiz: To further Shadow Mario's impressive speed, he was able to perfectly and quickly steal Mario's F.L.U.D.D. in the form of a blur! But despite all of this Shadow Mario has some flaws such as being hurt by pressured water and then there's the fact that he is Bowser Jr. who is still quite young and learning.
Boomstick: What!? Bowser Jr. knows how to drive a car and control freaking mechs he ain't a normal kid.
Wiz: Well I thought the whole turtle dragon baby monster already gave that away.
Shadow Mario: Ow ow ow OW! Not fair! Completely unfair! You shouldn't be allowed to use tools like that!
Mimikyu[]
Wiz: The Alola region is made up of four islands which include Melemele Island, Akala Island, Ula'ula Island, and Poni Island and one artificial island called Aether Paradise.
Boomstick: You sure this isn't just Hawaii?
Wiz: Well it's obviously based off of Hawaii so in a way it is the Hawaii of the Pokemon universe. But we aren't suppose to be talking about the region, we are suppose to be talking about the Pokemon within it like Mimikyu.
Boomstick: It looks like someone's baby was cosplaying as Pikachu but it went horribly wrong and creepy.
Wiz: Well that's basically this Pokemon's whole concept summed up. Mimikyu is a small ghost fairy type Pokemon that is covered in an old rag that resembles the popular electric mouse Pokemon Pikachu. According to the Pokedex it is pretty lonely and its true appearance is unknown. Mimikyu's disguise itself after Pikachu because it thinks that this would allow it to make friends with people, which makes sense considering how damn popular Pikachu is.
Boomstick: Well it fucked up.
Wiz: Being a Pokemon, Mimikyu has a lot of different abilities/moves at its disposal. First, Disguise allows it to avoid damage for one attack.
Boomstick: The other moves include... *gets out a list*
- Shadow Claw: Stretches out two claws to attack
- Scratch: Slashes foes with claws
- Play Rough: Reduces the opponent's physical strength
- Astonish: Flinches an opponent
- Wood Hammer: Enlarges its tail like a hammer and bashes the target with it
- Shadow Sneak: Extends its shadow and attacks the target from behind
- Double Team: Moves so fast that the user makes illusory copies of itself to raise its evasiveness
- Copycat: Copies a target’s move which can stretch from simple moves like pound to copying moves from god-like beings like Roar of Time, which warps time itself
- Charm: Gazes at the target rather charmingly, making them lower their attack
Wiz: Its strongest attack though? Is looking at its true appearance. According to the Pokedex several people have tried to get a glimpse of Mimiyku's true form and have ended up dying in different ways. One scholar was overwhelmed by terror and died from shock, a passing trainer went home and died painfully that very night, and a scientist died of a mysterious disease.
Boomstick: That's diabolical! Using your own ugliness to kill someone! Reminds me of my ex hehe, but that's a story for another time.
Wiz: Now thanks to Mimikyu's typing it doesn't have many weaknesses, only being extremely weak to steel-based attacks and attacks from other ghost, ghost-like, or undead creatures.
Boomstick: Well Mimikyu seems like a good ally to have on your team. It's strong, fast, deadly, and fierce. That's a good combination.
Meowth: Stop saying those scary things! Take off that Pikachu costume and fight me fair and square!
Intermission[]
Wiz: Looks like the combatants are set! Let's end this debate once and for all!
Boomstick: It's time for a DEATH BATTLE!
DEATH BATTLE![]
It's a perfect sunny day in Isle Delfino. Well except for the Mario imposter running around and putting graffiti everywhere. Shadow Mario zips and sneaks by people, using his special paintbrush to create large pictures of a capital m and messy pictures of Mario. His father's plan to frame Mario was almost a complete success.
Shadow Mario was making a final run at Pinna Park. He sprays some more goop around on the attractions but unknowingly sees a certain Pokemon chilling near him. Some drops of goop splash on Mimikyu's disguise. It is shocked to see that its "beautiful" disguise was ruined, so it becomes extremely pissed off.
Shadow Mario giggles when inspecting his work until he hears a growl behind him. He sees Mimikyu creepily staring at him. Shadow Mario tilts his head in confusion when suddenly a shadow claw stretches out from under Mimikyu.
FIGHT![]
(Cue Boss Battle - Super Mario Sunshine)
Shadow Mario immediately backflips into the air to dodge the Shadow Claw as it cracks the concrete floor. Shadow Mario twirls his paintbrush with one hand while the other gestures Mimikyu to face him. Mimikyu rushes forward like a ghost gliding above the ground. Shadow Mario aims his paintbrush like a rifle and fires some goopy projectiles. Mimikyu uses Double Team to dodge the projectiles and confuse the Mario imposter.
Then using Play Rough he tackles Shadow Mario and unleashes a flurry of attacks, both engage in a violent struggle in a big ball of smoke. Shadow Mario escapes by front flipping to safety. He uses his paintbrush like a bat and smacks Mimikyu flying into some trash cans. Shadow Mario jumps high into the air and swings his paintbrush wide, launching slashes of brown goo.
The disguise Pokemon quickly uses Shadow Claw to take out the incoming attacks. Then stretches out the claws and grabs onto two lamp posts, pulling back before propelling itself like a slingshot. Mimikyu summons Wooden Hammer through its tail and attempts to bash Shadow Mario in the head, but he blocks it with the handle of his paintbrush.
The two doppelgangers go flying onto the last cart of a rollercoaster train and continue their duel as the roller coaster zips around and goes up and down. Mimikyu uses scratch while Shadow Mario parries the attacks. Shadow Mario spins his paintbrush and slams his weapon upon the head of the disguise, which is shown to have no effect. While Shadow Mario is confused Mimikyu strikes him in the chest with Shadow Claw.
Shadow Mario leaps to the front of the train and sprays some goop on the rails, which causes the roller coaster to shake and fall off. Both combatants then leap to safety. Shadow Mario sprays some of his burn goo in front of Mimikyu. It splashes onto the side of the fake head of the disguise, causing it to light up in flames. Mimikyu panics and jumps into a nearby fountain. Shadow Mario laughs until Mimikyu remerges from the fountain angrier than before, and a lot creepier thanks to its disguise getting soaked and the paint being smudged.
The Pokemon uses Double Team, surrounding his enemy with illusionary clones. Shadow Mario high jumps into the air before creating a large brown goop puddle. This grows to become a goopy Piranha Plant that assists Shadow Mario by eating and wiping out the clones. Meanwhile, the real Mimikyu uses Shadow Sneak to secretly extend its shadow behind Shadow Mario and attacks him from behind.
Shadow Mario spins around to face this backstabber only to see no one. While distracted Mimikyu ambushed him with Play Rough to reduce his strength.
Shadow Mario: Not fair! Not fair! You're a cheater!
He whistles for his Piranha Plant who roars and slams its head down like a hammer, knocking Mimikyu through the wall of that pirate ship ride that swings back and forth. Mimikyu climbs out and uses Shadow Claw to take out the wires holding the ship causing it to collapse on top of the Piranha Plant. at
Shadow Mario: AHH! NO, MY PIRAHNA PLANT!
Shadow Mario and Mimikyu charge towards each other. In a couple of inches before impact, Mimikyu uses Astonish to make Shadow Mario flinch for a second. Mimikyu then switches to Double Team to launch a barrage of clones at him. Shadow Mario transforms into a bunch of paint particles to escape, but Mimikyu chases after him by using Copycat to also transform into paint particles.
Shadow Mario heads into an alleyway and turns back to his normal form in front of a dead end. He turns around to see Mimikyu transform out of the paint particle form as well.
Shadow Mario: Copycat!
Shadow Mario quickly draws an M behind him on the wall and dives into the dimension. Meanwhile, Mimikyu jumps in without hesitation. Mimikyu looks around at this blank white dimension.
Shadow Mario: You're in my world now stupid!
A dark blue blur strikes the Pokemon from behind. Mimikyu turns around and raises its Shadow Claws to see no one. Shadow Mario then continues to rapidly blitz it in every direction. Mimikyu tries to fight back by swinging in every direction but doesn't seem to land a single hit. Shadow Mario twirls his paintbrush with both hands before aiming and firing a beam of goo. Mimikyu uses his claws as a shield to block the spray but it isn't enough. Using Copycat Mimikyu fires its own goo beam to combat his. Shadow Mario increases the power of his paintbrush to overpower Mimkyu and send him flying right out of the portal.
Mimikyu wakes up injured in the big fountain of Pinna Park. Its disguise is ripped, soaked, and falling apart. It notices Shadow Mario front flip over it to perfectly stand on the surface of the water. Mimikyu prepares to use its final attack. It lunges at his opponent, attempting to get Shadow Mario to glance at its true appearance. However, Shadow Mario thinks of this as a weak spot and fires a spray of electric goo into Mimikyu. While being electrocuted Mimikyu starts to expand like a balloon before blowing up to pieces. Shadow Mario is showered in brown goo and the remaining pieces of the Pikachu costume. Shadow Mario laughs before running away.

Results[]
Boomstick: I can't help but feel bad for poor Mimikyu...
Wiz: Despite Mimikyu having better hax and a wider variety of abilities at his disposal Shadow Mario is easily smarter, faster, and stronger.
Boomstick: Because Shadow Mario is literally just Bowser Jr. in disguise they obviously share the same intelligence, in which Bowser Jr. has been shown smart enough to tinker and control complex technology.
Wiz: Shadow Mario is also fast enough to move in the form of a blur and is able to contend with the likes of Mario, which on itself is an impressive feat. Shadow Mario is only shown being hurt by pressured water, very unlucky for Mimikyu who doesn't possess any water type moves.
Boomstick: But Wiz what if Mimikyu used its true appearance to kill Shadow Mario?
Wiz: Maybe, but it is kind of inconsistent as some people have died right away or it took time for others like that one trainer who was able to make it all the way back to his house. Though not sure if it would be enough as Shadow Mario would most likely overwhelm it with his superior speed, strength, and the goo from his paint brush.
Boomstick: I guess Shadow Mario Mimikilled the competition.
Wiz: The winner is Shadow Mario!
