Death Battle Fanon Wiki

Listen carefully. I'm not a horse. I'm a person. That's why I wanna know... who you are... and how you can commit those atrocities against people. That's why I can't forgive you for everything you're doing.
~ Seong Gi-hun threatening the Front Man

What's the matter? Is your mind starting to race? That's right. Screw the rules. Now, with a single pull of the trigger, you could kill me. But... I'll have you admit one thing. You put a mask over your face and do whatever your master says. You run, bark, and wag your tail for them. You're nothing more than their dog
~ Seong Gi-hun to the Recruiter as they play Russian Roulette

I’VE PLAYED THESE GAMES BEFORE! I said I’ve played these games before! I knew about the first game because I‘d already done it. Cause I played the exact same one! I was here three years ago and I played them all. And every single person who was there with me... THEY WERE ALL KILLED, EVERY ONE!
~ Gi-hun's breakdown to the other players about his previous experiences

We are not horses. We are humans. Humans are...
~ Gi-hun's last words before sacrificing himself

Possible Opponents[]

History[]

Seong Gi-Hun was a downtrodden poor man at best in the Squid Game. After finishing high school, he found work at a car factory, which he later participated it's riot, resulting in the miss of the birth of his daughter, Ga-yeong. He later opened a chicken restaurant and a snack bar, but both have failed.

Today, Gi-hun works as a financially struggling chaffeur, gambling his money on horse races and being harassed by loan sharks whom he owes money to. After spending time with his daughter regarding her birthday, Gi-hun runs into the mysterious Salesman who challenges him to a game of card flip for 100 you thousand won. Though Gi-hun repeatingly loses (and gets slapped each time he loses), he manages to win regardless, but the Salesman gives him the money and an invitation card.

After accepting the invitation, Gi-hun realizes that the games involve outright murder of contestants. He survives Red Light, Green Light, and then votes with the survivors to leave the games temporarily, though his problems have become much worse when his mother is diagnosed with severe diabetes and he cannot find work to effectively supplement enough money for her treatment.

As a result, Gi-hun returns to the games, but as he suffers and survives, he began to be much hardened over time, though this was not without cost, with the loss of his allies such as Ali, Sae-byeok, Oh Il-nam (who is later revealed to be the mastermind of the games), and eventually, his best friend, Sang-woo.

However, despite his victory, he was too late to save his mother, who has eventually died by complications of diabetes, leaving Gi-hun alone in his grief. A year later, Il-nam was later revealed to have survived, in his last moments as he dies of cancer playing another game which Gi-hun wins through luck. Despite appearing to have changed, Gi-hun vows to end the games once and for all.
