FILE R-00: INTRODUCTION[]

Crimson: It's a battle of two power-hungry madmen! Senator Armstrong VS Omni-Man!

Desperado: The crazed senator and the outcast Viltrumite. She's Crimson, I'm Desperado.

Crimson: It's our job to analyse their weapons, armour, and skills to find out who would win...

Both: A DEATH BATTLE!

FILE R-01: COLORADO SENATOR STEVEN ARMSTRONG[]

FILE R-01-1: NOTABLE FEATS[]

  • Casually manhandled Raiden
  • Snapped Raiden's high-frequency blade in half
  • Destroyed Metal Gear EXCELSUS' remnants with one punch
  • Lifted and hurled chunks of EXCELSUS at Raiden
  • Created pillars of lava
  • Destroyed helicopters and APCs just by powering up his nanomachines

FILE R-01-2: ARSENAL AND ABILITIES[]

  • SUPERHUMAN STRENGTH: Armstrong is capable of trading blows with Raiden, who lifted and flipped Metal Gear EXCELSUS and threw Metal Gear RAY.
  • SUPERHUMAN SPEED: Armstrong has demonstrated speeds on par with Raiden, whose speed is MACH 2 as stated by Sundowner.
  • SUPERHUMAN ENDURANCE: Due to his nanomachines, the Senator is able to endure astronomical punishment during combat.
  • SUPERHUMAN DURABILITY: Also due to his nanomachines, Steven is very difficult to hurt and injure in a fight, as Raiden needed the Murasama to weaken him.
  • SUPERHUMAN STAMINA: Once more because of his nanomachinery, Armstrong can keep fighting for extensive periods of time.
  • REGENERATION: Notably, Armstrong' nanomachines are able to replenish the health of his cells and biological functions, letting him tank even more punishment.
  • PYROMANCY: Interestingly, Armstrong is able to summon magma from deep underground chambers.

FILE R-01-3: ABOUT ARMSTRONG[]

  • Height: 6'7" or 200.66 cm
  • Weight: Unknown, est. ~260 lbs or ~118 kg
  • Age: Unknown, est. ~50s

FILE R-01-4: COMMENTARY[]

Crimson: Born in the howdy-rowdy state of Texas, much of young Steven's life isn't really on record. He moved to South Carolina when he was a young boy and attended Pickens High School, and moved back to Texas after graduating, attending the State University of Texas and becoming a football player while he was at it.

Desperado: A pretty damn good one at that, look at this fucker! He's two metres tall and half that wide with tons of brawn and tons of brain! He could've gone pro with football - American, not European football, which they call soccer - if he didn't join the US Navy.

Crimson: He joined out of a patriotic desire to serve his country, though he didn't see actual combat. He later moved to Colorado and dabbled in the dubious business of politics. While he was there, he ran for state senate - and won - and went about slashing the state budgets, privatizing Denver's police force, and manipulating the people through charismatically written speeches... Which he didn't even write himself. Oh well...

Desperado: Yeah, this bastard's track record isn't great, considering he bullied a badass double-jumping Brazilian samurai just to hire him, became almost offensively nationalistic, and apparently, was investigated for his ties to World Marshal. None of that stopped him from being considered a nominee for the 2020 elections- What the bloody hell is wrong with American politics?

Crimson: This is why we should move back to England... Mum's a nonce.

Desperado: What did I say about insulting mum in front of an audience when she isn't here?

Crimson: You're a shitty older brother. Like really shitty-

Desperado: Moving on...

We are shown footage of Armstrong manhandling Raiden immediately after he is augmented by his nanomachines.

Desperado: Armstrong is practically invulnerable, possessing plenty of your typical American stereotypical attributes.

Crimson: The bastard is huge, strong, fast, and extraordinarily durable... Much like my husband after seeing me.

Desperado: Excuse me?!

Crimson: Don't act like you aren't the same way with Madam Syrup.

Desperado: I won't if you don't bring my wife into this! Haven't we talked about this?! We're recording, you bloody-!

Crimson: You're not Irish, you're Estuary English. I'll send you flying back to London if you don't put a sock in it.

Syrup: Can you two babbling idiots shut up?!

We hear the quiet mutterings of three children.

Crimson: We're doing everything but our fucking job. Shall we?

Desperado: Finally, idiot. As we- I was saying, Armstrong boasts massively superhuman speed, strength, durability, endurance, and stamina, as well as a fairly big brain, being a Uni of Texas graduate, politician, and a decently charismatic, confident, nationalistic patriot.

Crimson: We don't see much of the old Senator, but from what we have, he's an absolute powerhouse!

We see Raiden stopping Metal Gear EXCELSUS' falling arm he ripped off and subsequently destroying the giant robot.

Crimson: Raiden fought this stadium-sized mass murder machine, flipped it over at the worst possible point of leverage, ripped its building-sized sword arm off, and hacked the rest of the thing to bits with it! Not even three minutes later, Armstrong is ragdolling the same guy that destroyed a PMC in a day!

Desperado: These nanomachines give the senator unparalleled physical strength, durability, and apparently, make him seem even more jacked than he already is! Now, these all sound overpowered, considering he snaps a high-frequency blade to pieces with his bare hands!

Crimson: Now, according to Wilhem Voigt, or Doktor in-game, doing so would "defy every core tenet of modern physics," clearly establishing the sheer power of the high-frequency blade. Of course, that's one of two major weaknesses of these nanomachines.

Desperado: The other being, these impressive microbots have a limited charge, and Steven doesn't even come with them in him by default; he has to absorb them from vehicles with them, like helicopters, APCs, and even Metal Gears like EXCELSUS.

We are shown footage of Armstrong powering up with his nanomachines.

Desperado: What else can they do? Well, apparently, he can pull up multi-ton vehicles from the ground to the top of World Marshal HQ, which is at least several hundred metres tall, given its prominence in the Denver skyline. This mountain-sized building clearly dwarfs other skyscrapers, so pulling at least six to seven vehicles of that weight class to the top in seconds requires speeds upwards of 96 to 100 kilometres per hour. The APCs in Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance are visually based on the M1126 ICV, which weighs 16.47 tonnes, 16,470 kilograms, or 18.12 short/US tons, 36,240 pounds. A single APC would require about 6,354,167 joules of energy.

Crimson: The helicopters meanwhile, are highly resemblant of the AH-64 Apache, with a maximum takeoff weight of 23,000 pounds, or 10,433 kilograms.

Desperado: How dare you put those disgusting, simpleton American measurements first.

Crimson: It's called, making the audience understand you, you absolute fuckin' idiot. Oh well... These would require 4,025,077 joules of energy, put it together, that's 44,479,171 joules.

Desperado: And that's the lower end of things! On the other end of the spectrum, he threw a punch into Raiden's chest hard enough to destroy the stadium-sized Metal Gear EXCELSUS that was a toy to Raiden!

FILE R-11: NOTABLE FACTS[]

  • The connections to the characters are that they both have Social Darwinistic beliefs, manhandled the respective men trying to stop them (Armstrong with Raiden, Nolan with Mark), and both used violence not only as a way to get them to give in, but as a way of proving their point. Also, they are both extremely strong, durable, and fast, and are both widely regarded as some of the strongest characters of their respective franchises. Both serve an empire (Armstrong serves an imperialist America, and Nolan serves the expansionist Viltrum Empire), and both eventually died to people they shared their beliefs with (Armstrong died to Raiden, who shared his philosophies, and Nolan died to Thragg). and thus never lived to see their beliefs and ambitions come to fruition.
  • The page is structured akin to a database, and the section names are styled after those in Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.
    • R-07: Assassination Attempt, is the chapter in Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance in which you face Armstrong as Raiden.
  • The fight would have been animated in 2D like in Invincible, but with an art style resembling that of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.
