History[]

Born William Baker in Queens, New York, he made a lot of bad choices that got him expelled from high school and gradually became a small time crook to steal money to pay for his ill daughter's medical treatments. Eventually, going by the alias Flint Marko, he was eventually arrested and imprisoned on Ryker's Island. But after escaping from prison, Marko accidentally stumbled into an experimental particle accelerator that molecularly binds him with sand, becoming known as "The Sandman".

Sand particles bonding with his molecular structure, Sandman is able to transform his body in various ways that include hardening, compacting, dispersal, shaping his arms into weapons, or a combination. This allows him to absorb most blows with little to no ill effect other than reforming himself, a relatively fast action. Sandman can also incorporates nearby sand grains and rock granules into his body to increase his size and strength
