Description[]
Samurai Jack vs. Ninja Gaiden. The strife between samurai and ninjas will continue with the crossing of legendary blades.
Introduction[]
Wiz: Jack, the Samurai who needs to get back to the past.
Boomstick: Ryu, the latest Hayabusa Dragon Ninja.
Wiz: Through history, the legends of samurai and ninja have persisted to tell us tales of them fighting against foes both traditional, modern, futuristic and even supernatural.
Boomstick: And of course, one another, trading their legendary ancestral weapons. He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick.
Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armour and skills to find out who would win a Death Battle!
Samurai Jack[]
Boomstick: He's gotta get back. Back to the past. Samurai Jack!
Wiz: Before he was a nomadic warrior in a future hostile at nearly every step, the samurai who would be known as Jack was the son of Japan's Emperor, who would soon need to take up his father's footsteps in vanquishing an ancient evil.
Boomstick: And who would have thought it would have the same voice as everyone's favourite Uncle Iroh, even though he was everyone's favourite shapeshifting lord of evil, Aku.
- Background
- Age: Physically 25, Mentally 75
- Height: 5'9
- Prince of Japan
- Sent to the future by Aku
- Real name starts with a G
- Suffers from numerous mental foes
Wiz: Having been bested by the young prince's father the first time he set his sights on conquering the world, Aku captured the Emperor, forcing his son on the run in order to gain the skills and weapons needed to bring down the Shogun of Sorrow. But that opportunity would have to wait until a later time. Literally, in fact, because Aku save his oily hide by sending the samurai into the future.
Boomstick: Having failed to defeat Aku in that key moment, the Samurai ended up in a future where Aku ruled supreme, filled with aliens, robots and evil monsters. And those who would give the samurai his name, Jack.
Wiz: In spite of the now literally alien world he was in, Jack made it his mission to either slay Aku, travel back in time to rectify his mistake or do both. And fortunately, his aforementioned skills and arsenal proved adaptable enough to let him wage his one-man war against Aku. Most important of all was his Katana.
Boomstick: What's so special about a normal looking Katana? Well, it was made by three gods of three different pantheons for the express purpose of slaying evil incarnate. And that's exactly what Aku was.
- Katana
- Forged by Odin, Ra and Vishnu
- Destroys evil energy
- Indestructible
- Carries and redirects energy
- Requires a pure heart to wield
Wiz: Just getting touched by this blade causes evil beings pain, capable of killing them even if they're ghostly or otherwise untouchable in nature, often burning away evil essence.
Boomstick: It's practically indestructible as well, able to cut through other metals and robots like a superhot knife through butter. It can even catch and return energy to sender. And don't think it's only useful for fighting evil or robots, because it's still a sword after all, so can still draw blood from living creatures. So overall it's pretty useful for nearly any kind of fight but in order to wield it, you'd need to be of pure intentions, fighting for the greater good, although it would still take a moment for the sword to vanish off the face of the earth if you weren't.
Wiz: This unfortunately happened to Jack when he ended up taking his anger at being denied a way back home on some corrupted goats. And without his sword, he finally found himself needing to upgrade his arsenal.
- Arsenal
- Armour
- Motorcycle
- Laser Pistol
- Gatling Gun
- Explosives
- Kunai
- Twin knives
- Spear
- Tuning Fork Knife
Boomstick: He got himself a full body suit of armour and a sweet-ass motorcycle which can sprout spikes on its wheels for traction and foe shredding.
Wiz: He now also carries a laser pistol, a large mini-gun-like rifle and a belt of explosives. He's demonstrate a use of two small knives, throwing kunai and a staff which bears a claw and electrified end.
Boomstick: And from a singing Deadpool robot, he got a Tuning Fork Knife. Anything he strikes with it ends up humming so intensely, it ends up exploding! Now that's what I call a proper musical instrument.
- Skills and Techniques
- Swordsmanship
- Archery
- Axe throwing
- Navigation
- Horseback riding
- Ninjistu
- Staff fighting
- Wrestling
- Kung-Fu
- Enhanced Senses
- Jump Good
- Astral Meditation
- Tremendous Horse Cut
- Ancestral Power
Wiz: He learned how to ride horses, navigate the seas, throw axes, become a master marksman and utilize martials arts and even straight up wrestling. His weapons expertise extends to staff fighting and naturally swordsmanship.
Boomstick: He even received training to let him utilize his senses sans sight to their fullest extent, to the point he can dodge projectiles and navigate the terrain blindfolded. For the latter part he's probably tapping into his ninja skills. Where most ninjas use the shadows to hide, Jack uses the light, blending in with his robes.
Wiz: He's even mastered a meditative state where he can enter his mental landscape to converse with his inner demons, spiritual guides and even the gods themselves. And it appears he's able to call upon his Ancestral Power to gain a boost in power. And with his Katana, he can perform the Tremendous Horse Cut, where he puts all his strength into breaking the swords of his foes.
Boomstick: Good thing he was eventually able to get back his Katana with his meditative skills so he could make use of that technique if he ever needed to. Oh, and to kill Aku, cause that's still pretty important. But who could forget his most greatest skill, the one surely passed onto the likes of Michael Jordan...
Wiz: You're talking about "Jumping Good" aren't you?
Boomstick: Yes I am! Up I go!
(Smash)
Boomstick: Ouch...
- Feats
- Dodged beams of sunlight whilst carrying a giant gauntlet
- Carried a 700 ton sumo
- Fended off bounty hunters in the time it took a water drop to fall
- Escaped from the stomach of giant monsters
- Fought the Scotsman for hours
- Defeated the Three Blind Archers, the Daughters of Aku, Aku
Wiz: Jack's life in the future was pretty much one battle after another, single-handedly tearing through entire armies of robots and bounty hunters. In fact, he defeated a pack of them, including a princess swordswoman who'd master the sword quick-draw, in the time it took a drop of water to hit the ground.
Boomstick: Sometimes, his battles got really weird too. Like once, he had to fight off a family of metal-eating robots and the matron of them tossed a rock at him so hard it ignited, like a freaking meteor entering the atmosphere. And Jack swatted it away with one hand! That meant he casually deflected a projectile moving at 11 thousand meters a second, impacting with a force of 4 billion joules.
Wiz: Jack's lifted stone pillars, a giant stone boulder, and a sumo said to weigh 700 tons. He's fast enough to avoid sunlight and even tag spaceships travelling at similar speeds. And when his battles took him to space, as they usually should in the future, he ended up withstanding the better amount of a 19 megaton fall to Earth.
Boomstick: One of the few things that kept Jack back was his inability to initially take a human's life but he soon came to accept the burden was not to be dreaded, simply respected. Oh, and we can't forget that Jack getting back to the past was easier said than done, since he just kept putting it off to help people, or because of some cruel twist of fate. Like the Cartoon Network cancellation!
Wiz: But in what can be considered a miracle in the world of televised animation, Samurai Jack eventually returned on Adult Swim to finally conclude his story. With the help of Aku's own mystical offspring, he was able to return to the past and erase the terrible future that had been his home for so long by slaying Aku in that one pivotal moment of failure. Though at the cost of Ashi herself. It would seem even in victory, Jack's first mistake in the past still haunted him.
Boomstick: Lighten up on him Wiz. Not many people can claim to have truly undone an evil future in it's entirety. Samurai Jack did exactly what he was determined to do, and that was he did. He got back. Back to the past. Samurai Jack!
Ryu Hayabusa[]
Wiz: The Dragon Lineage is the alternative name given to those who belong to the Hayabusa Family.
Boomstick: Who are all ninjas by the way!
Wiz: Long ago, the Dark Dragon rose to cast a dark shadow across the world, bringing with them the scourge of Evil Entities, who decided to pass their time by sowing their wild oats.
Boomstick: Why Wiz, you dirt boy! Just say that they interbred with humans, leading to the rise of certain tribes of supernatural humanoids, such as werewolves. So naturally, one of these tribes would carry the ability to become extraordinary ninjas.
Wiz: The one to use their power for the greater good became known as the Dragon Ninja, who proved powerful enough to bring down the Dark Dragon and restore the world to balance. And many generations later, his descendant would take up his mantle, and then some, by becoming the Ultimate Ninja.
- Background
- Age: 25
- Height: 5'10
- AKA Dragon Ninja, Master Ninja, Ultimate Ninja
- Name means "Pellegrine Falcon's Dragon"
- Descendant of the Dragon Lineage and Evil Entities
- One of the few notable male Dead or Alive combatants
Boomstick: With one part of his name meaning "Dragon" and another meaning "Falcon", Ryu Hayabusa was trained in the way of the ninja since the day he could crawl. Soon, he'd surpassed all his peers and truly earned the name of Hayabusa.
Wiz: Described as possessing the temperament of a man three times as old as himself, Ryu fights without hatred or passion, only working towards the safeguarding of the world.
Boomstick: He's done that quite a lot, which is why he always brings along his clan's signature weapon. One that's epic as hell because it's made of a dragon's fang, made for the Hayabusa line with the original purpose of bringing down the Dark Dragon!
- Dragon Sword
- Forged from a dragon fang
- Practically indestructible
- Cannot be wielded by weak-willed
- Eye of the Dragon
- Unleashes full power, True Dragon Sword
- Capable of upsetting the world's balance
Wiz: As it's considered practically indestructible, the Dragon Sword is extremely sharp, capable of slicing through everything from people, demons to robots. Such a sword cannot be wielded by just anyone, as you need to have an incredibly strong will to use it. And to order to wield the full strength of the sword, Ryu combines it with the Eye of the Dragon.
Boomstick: With this pupil, Ryu becomes a master as the essence of the fang's original dragon is brought out for an astronomical boost in power. In fact, it's feared the full power of the True Dragon Sword is capable of upsetting the balance of the world which Ryu works so hard to maintain. Fortunately, his large arsenal means he doesn't have to worry about always pulling out his ultimate weapon.
- Arsenal
- Shurikens
- Explosive
- Windmill
- Lunar Staff
- Falcon's Talons
- Fiend's Bane Bow
- Smoke Bomb
- Eclipse Scythe
- Tonfas
- War Hammer
- Howling Cannon
- Dragon's Claw and Dragon's Fang

- Kusari-Gama
- Vigoorian Flail
- Jinran-Maru
- Dabilahro
- Enma’s Fang
- Wooden Sword

- Blade of the Archfiend
- Shurikens
Wiz: He wields the standards of what you'd expect a ninja to own, such as Shuriken of the normal, explosive or recursing variety, a Kusari-Gama, Tonfas, Nunchaku and a Smoke Bomb.
Boomstick: He can wield an absolutely massive scythe forged with the body of a slain werewolf and the Lunar Staff. He has small spikey axes for close-quarters combat and a bow, perfect for taking shots at far-off foes. Or he can use the Dragon Cannon for that, and to equal more intense blasts.
Wiz: When he wants to duel-wield, he can either use the Falcon Talons on both hands and feet, and whilst Dragon's Fang isn't made of a dragon's tooth like the Dragon Sword, when paired with the Tiger's Claw he can use it to dice his foes to pieces. He also has several other swords at his disposal, such as one to substitute for the Dragon Sword, a massive spiked sword, one which drains his life force for enhanced cutting power, a thick longsword to pulverize foes with and even the Blade of the Archfiend, which is described as being as powerful as the Dragon Sword itself.
Boomstick: He can even dual-wield them if he wants to! And of course, who can forget his Wooden Sword, trading slashes for bashes.
Wiz: Uh, sure. When any of his many weapons aren't enough to do the trick, Ryu has several techniques to use in battle.
Boomstick: Like his flying dive or pile-driver?
Wiz: I was thinking more of his Ninpo, where Ryu harnesses his natural life force to perform supernatural attacks.
- Ninpo
- Art of the Fire Wheels
- Art of Flying Fire Wheels
- Art of the Flame Phoenix
- Art of the Inferno
- Art of the True Inferno
- Art of the Ice Storm
- Art of the Hurricane
- Art of the Wind Blades
- Art of Vacuum Wave
- Art of the Inazuma
- Art of Divine Life
- Art of the Piercing Void
- Doppelganger
- Flying Earth Platforms
- Ultimate Ninpo
- Hayabusa Spirit
Boomstick: He can make fire hover around himself, including ones which resemble phoenix or burn as hot as a dragon's breath. Or he can command powerful gusts of winds or small-scale blizzards of ice shards. He can slice with winds, or charge up an electric current within his own body.
Wiz: Divine Life is used to heal himself in combat and Doppelganger, which basically does exactly what it says. Yet the most significant of Ryu's Ninpo we've saved for last. One of which is the Art of the Piercing Void, which is basically the generation of a small-pseudo black hole.
Boomstick: And best of all is the appropriately named Ultimate Ninpo, where one summons a massive friggin fire dragon to hit with an explosion comparable to a nuclear blast!
Wiz: Well, to call it the best immediately is a bit overreaching, because there's one more power which Ryu has under his belt; the Hayabusa Spirit. Activated to save him after being sliced in half, the spirit can fuse with Ryu to increase his powers tremendously, even letting him stop time, once again create pseudo-black holes and leap thousands of feet into the air.
Boomstick: Awesome! I need me one of those. Come on, come on out! Come...on...!
(Boomstick farts)
Wiz: Argh! Too far from a ninja technique.
Boomstick: What are you talking about? It was non-silent and deadly, just like Ryu himself, because in spite of being a ninja, Ryu rarely uses stealth.
- Feats
- Considered the strongest ninjutsu practitioner in the world
- Won the 2nd Dead or Alive Tournament
- Survived the Grip of Murder
- Has fought lightning-commanding foes
- Overpowered the massive Goddess
- Defeated the Dark Dragon, Vigoor, Tengu and the Goddess
Wiz: Well, that's true enough, since Ryu's techniques often cause his victims to be rather messily reduced to a red cloud of guts and blood. But he can be fairly good at infiltration, having once infiltrated a secure military base with complete ease.
Boomstick: Back to the kickass stuff now, because Ryu's a freaking one-clan ninja. He's bested the competitors of the second Dead or Alive competition and battled some extreme heavy-hitters. Literally, in fact, like the Goddess, who's as big as skyscrapers and weighing 2 million kilograms. Thus, based on the fact she can tag Ryu who's dodged actual lightning, then she'd be hitting with 30 megatons of TNT.
Wiz: The Dragon Sword has enabled Ryu to also emerge victorious from fights against foes with truly cataclysmic power, such as one who could cause solar eclipses, consume worlds in darkness or even split the Earth in half.
Boomstick: Befitting the title of Ulimtate Ninja, Ryu doesn't really have any true weaknesses, save for the cost and metaphorical cooldown of using his Ninpo. Although I suppose he does have a habit of getting himself tainted by certain things, being a tranquilizer of a curse which poisons him will all the lives he has taken. But even those only ever really delay the inevitability of this ninja striking you down.
Wiz: Ryu isn't just some ninja in the annals of video games, he is the ninja, forever walking the razor's edge between life and death to uphold the balance of the world, just as his ancestors and father did before.
Interlude[]
Wiz: Alright the combatants are set, time to end this debate once and for all.
Boomstick: It's time for a Death Battle!
The Battle[]
Setting: Abandoned Japanese village at dusk
Jack, in his season 5 armour, rode his bike into the town, coming to a stop as he sensed someone's presence. After spending a minute darting his eyes around to cover his surroundings, he dismounted and walked to stand in the town's centre, straight-backed with his arms held by his sides.
Jack: Whatever you do next, know that it was your choices that have led you here.
A second after Jack's voice rang out, Ryu Hayabusa shot down from one of the town's towers like a splayed out missile straight towards the interloper. Jack turned as he heard the whoosh of air, understanding the danger immediately and drawing his Katana. It clashed with Ryu's Dragon Sword, the resulting shockwave powerful enough to shatter Jack's helmet and mask, revealing his clean-shaved face and tied-back hair.
FIGHT!
The two men locked eyes before the blade lock was broken, Ryu thrown backwards to land on his feet. The blades immediately clashed together a second time as Jack stepped forwards with a downwards slash, Ryu's block preventing it from cutting into his shoulder. The ninja's own two slashes were deflected by Jack before the samurai swung upwards, Ryu leaning back to avoid the swing and aiming a swipe at his foe's side. Jack performed a complete turning manoeuvre to block the attack before slashing outwards in the same go, which Ryu blocked; the ninja then planted his foot on Jack's outstretched knee and used it to jump into the air and bring his sword down at Jack, who rolled backwards from the attack. Once the samurai was back on his feet after finishing the roll, he advanced forwards and stabbed his sword out repeatedly, Ryu strafing and deflecting the stabs as he drew back slowly. The moment he had a chance to, Ryu darted forwards to slam his sword into Jack's, forcing them both to point to the air as their owners came eye-to-eye once again. Ryu then got his blade on the other side of Jack's and pushed it downwards, leaving the samurai open so he could slash the blade out at him. But Jack avoid the slash by leaning backwards so far, he did a flip before landing back his feet, Ryu's momentum putting them both back-to-back. Jack turned around faster and struck his foe in the back of his knee via his foot, forcing Ryu onto his other knee and letting Jack swing his sword around towards his neck. The ninja brough brought his blade up to block the attack, the force of it sending him skidding backwards even as he remained kneeling. Ryu rose back to his feet, he and Jack regarding each other with glowers.
Ryu suddenly became a blur as he threw out a trio of shuriken, Jack deflecting all but one, allowing it to sail behind him; as it was a Windmill Shuriken, it arched back around to the samurai's back at the same time as Ryu charged towards him, intending on trapping the Samurai in a pincer-movement. It was foiled when Jack tossed a kunai over his shoulder to knock away the projectile and blocked Ryu's slash, before working his blade around that of the Dragon Sword to wrench it to the side. This left Ryu open for Jack to bring the sword back around hilt first, which smashed into the side of the ninja's head and sent him spinning around, opening up his back for Jack to slash down at.
It was fortunate for Ryu that his head cleared in time to perform a Ninpo in the precious milliseconds he had, and Jack was suddenly surprised by a series of floating fireballs appearing around Ryu, one of which seared his upper arm and caused his swing to miss. He had to hop backwards to avoid being gutted by Ryu's swing as he turned back around and with the fire these surrounding him, Ryu charged after him. He began a series of wide slashes and Jack had to be extremely careful to block both these and avoid the orbs of fire. Nevertheless, the samurai got several parts of his armour burned and by the time he put distance between himself and Ryu, he was feeling the heat from the scorched areas. As sweat rolled down his foe's face, Ryu uses his Ninpo to form the fireballs together into one massive projectile and sent it his way. Jack overcame his heated self and brought his sword up, intercepting the fireball with the blade's flat. The mystical steel absorbed the fireball and Jack charged forwards with a yell.
The samurai slashed upwards with his fire-charged blade and Ryu swung the Dragon Sword down to meet it, the resulting release of energy from the former weapon resulting in an explosion, the force of which even rebounded off the ground and back up; this, along with the upper explosion, sent the swords of both warriors flying up into the air. After getting over the shock of this turn of events in less than two seconds, Jack and Ryu threw punches and jabs at each other, which they either dodged or parried, before they were finally able to land a punch on the other at the same time, straight to the cheek, which sent them skidding backwards. Jack recovered and drew out his twin daggers to charge back at his foe, who had equipped his Falcon's Talons. The weapons clashed together, sending sparks flying, with Ryu delivering a series of rapid-fire punches forwards at Jack, who first blocked these and then the rapid-fire kicks Ryu came at him with a hop upwards. Upon blocking the latter technique, Jack swung his daggers inwards at Ryu's head, who caught them between the blades of the Talons and snapped them with a twist of his wrists, before performing a breakdance-style spin on the ground to turn himself into a blade hurricane. Jack drew backwards from the human blender as the Talons scratched his armour until Ryu ceased spinning, got into a crouching position and pounced towards his opponent, the Falcon's Talons extended in front of him. Jack pulled out and uncompressed his Staff, intercepting the Talons with its clawed end, bringing Ryu's charge to a stop before snapping the caught Talons by twisting the staff. Jack then swung the other end of the staff downwards towards Ryu's skull, who blocked it by pulling out his Lunar Staff and holding it overhead. The two staffs were then crossed repeatedly at their masters attempted to hit the other, with Ryu in particular sliding left to ride as he avoided the clawed end. Blocking it proved foolhardy, since Jack used the claw to hook the staff and pull it from Ryu's grasp, before reversing his staff and driving it into Ryu's chest, activating it's electrical end. The voltage sent into Ryu's body was harnessed however with Art of the Inazuma and he sent it through Jack's staff, blowing it up and sending an electrocuted Jack flying backwards.
As Jack flew backwards, he saw Ryu running after him, and mid-flight he pulled out his laser pistol and fired it, forcing Ryu to alter his run, going to the side to avoid the shot. Jack flipped over to land and replaced his pistol with his Gatling Gun, firing a chasing barrage after Ryu who ran a circle around him. Ryu eventually leaped backwards over the barrage, aiming as he did with his bow to fire arrows which went down each of the gun's multiple muzzles, ravaging it from within. Jack threw it aside and drew out his Tuning Fork Knife, rushing to meet Ryu as he wielded the Eclipse Scythe. The latter swung the scythe downwards three times and each time Jack tapped it with the Tuning Fork, before drawing back at a fourth swing which embedding the now humming scythe blade in the ground. Ryu finally noticed the scythe's humming at this point but was too late to figure out what this meant before it exploded, sending the ninja flying backwards. Hitting the ground and transitioning into a roll to come to a halt, Ryu threw down a Smoke Bomb, blanketing the area between himself and Jack.
With the cover of the smoke, Ryu used Healing Ninpo on his wounds from the explosion, before bringing out the War Hammer and taking a stance for what might come next. It came in the form of a mechanical roar and Jack bursting through the smoke on his motorcycle, the spiked wheels employed. Ryu thrusted out the head of the hammer and it collided with the spinning spiked wheel. The former grinded against the hammer head, Ryu struggling to keep it back using his weapon and he found he was being pushed backwards by the bike via its back wheel's traction, his feet leaving groves in the ground.
The charge of the motorcycle pushed Ryu up the stone steps which led up to the town's pillared temple. Upon reaching the top of the stairs, Ryu snapped his fingers and summoned a black hole behind Jack and his motorcycle, the vacuum's pull affecting the bike and causing it to stop, much to Jack's surprise. The Samurai had to leap off avoid the fate of his bike - being sucked into the black hole and disappearing along with the small-scale void - and landed behind Ryu, who turned around instantly to meet him. Bringing out his tonfas, Ryu went at Jack with repeated jabs, forcing his foe to use his armoured arms to defend himself. Jack drew backwards rapidly at the assault, which Ryu pressed on with. Eventually, the armoured limbs shattered and a double strike to Jack's armoured chest broke that as well, sending Jack skidding backwards, his armour destroyed to reveal his normal white robes.
Jack straightened to his full height and he and Ryu stared each other down again as they stood in the courtroom of the open-roofed temple. There were suddenly glints of light in the sky as Jack's Katana and the Dragon Sword finally started to fall back to Earth, their masters taking note. With a Good Jump, Jack launched himself into the air whilst Ryu generated platforms of rock with his Ninpo to match his ascent and they were both able to grab their swords at the same time. They locked their blades together as they fell back down and upon landing drew backwards. With the rays of the still setting sun casting shadows, Jack drew back into the rays and Ryu vanished into the shadows.
There was no sound for a moment before the symphony of clashing steel filled the air once again, the warriors nearly invisible as they struck from their respective non-physical covers. They duelled from shadow to light at one point, with Jack vanishing into the light when Ryu slashed at him, the ninja going into alert as he backed into the shadows. Jack came into view within the shadows, his enhanced senses letting him avoid stabs from Ryu, each one coming from a different angle around the Samurai, the blade shining in the shadow. Sparks from three powerful collisions of both swords illuminated the entire area, showing off Ryu and Jack in the middle of the temple ground. The final clash transitioned into a blade lock as the sun finally set, ironically showing the two of them most clearly since they entered the temple.
Both struggling to come out on top in the blade lock, the samurai and ninja snarled and gritted their teeth; little-by-little, Jack was forced to lean backwards as Ryu's strength started to get the better of him, until the latter was able to take a full step forwards and Jack had lean back to his body's limits. The samurai carefully modified the grip on his katana hilt and closed his eyes.
Jack: Ancestors...help me!
On cue, an aura of light billowed around Jack, blinding Ryu who was then thrown backwards by Jack pushing against the blade lock with a burst of new strength. With his foe off balance and his body's capabilities revigorated, Jack slashed Ryu three times across the chest, carving deep, wide wounds which caused blood to decorate the air. Ryu cried out in pain and attempted a pained slash out, which Jack jumped into the air, his sword raised above his head. As the samurai bore down at him, Ryu tapped into his Ninpo and directed, with his sword, a giant flaming dragon of Ki up at Jack, who bore downwards with the Tremendous Horse Cut. The magical properties of his Katana sliced right through the construct, and came down onto Ryu's sword as the Ninja used it to block the attack.
Usually, this would have shattered Ryu's blade, but in the time it had taken Jack to slice through the Dragon, Ryu had fused the Eye of the Dragon onto the Dragon Sword, bringing it to its True form. Thus, Jack's Tremendous Horse Cut was stopped short and he gasped as he hung in the air, slash completed.
Jack: Your weapon...is enchanted!?
Ryu: Yes...and you are not the only one who can call upon the honourable deceased for aid!
As his declaration, the Hayabusa Spirit flowed through Ryu, healing his wounds and bringing time to a stop around him. He knocked aside Jack's sword, splaying him up in the air via the frozen time. The rebounding energy from the black lock breaking went through Ryu and whilst he didn't buckle to it, it did send several of his additional swords, of varying abilities and sizes, into the air. Ryu took notice of this event but not before stabbing outwards with the True Dragon Sword. As his main weapon went through Jack's heart, Ryu released his hold on it and his hands shot out to each of the other suspended swords, stabbing them all out at Jack.
When the Hayabusa Spirit and its time dilation wore off, Ryu was left observing the sight of his victory; Jack, pinned to the middle of one of the temple pillars by his numerous other swords. . The True Dragon Sword was still lodged in Jack's heart, Enma's Fang in his stomach, Kitetsu driven through his left elbow to make his arm hang at a crooked angle, the Blade of the Archfiend going upwards into Jack's chest and Jinran-Maru, Dragon's Claw and Tiger's Fang, Dabilahro and even the Wooden Sword pierced through Jack's shoulders and neck, his head lifelessly titled backwards. Blood leaked from his body and painted the pillar as Ryu looked on, holding Jack's Katana as the fruits of his labour.
KO!
Outcome[]
Boomstick: Appropriate. For both Razor's Edge and Samurai Jack Season 5, a brutally bloody ending for everyone's favourite period-plighted samurai.
Wiz: Not within giving it his all however with his own advantages. For example, dodging beams of light puts him a good deal faster than Ryu. Whilst he mainly clocks at 70% the speed of light, this is still faster than the lightning bolts that Ryu routinely avoids.
Boomstick: And because of his slowed aging, he's had 75 years of experience in his peak-perfect body, more than Ryu's in spite of his similar extensive training. Although the comment that Ryu has a level of wisdom befitting men three times his age implies the same could be true of skill as well, especially with his otherwise established resume. Even then, both have fought against individuals with centuries more experience in battle, so it would still level out otherwise. Same with certain ninjutsu skills. Which brings us to Ryu's advantages. Such as his massive arsenal.
Wiz: Especially when you consider that Jack's Season 5 starting-arsenal and his Katana were never really wielded together, and were likely intended to demonstrate his change in mindset due to the slog of his existence. Sure, Battle Through Time saw him use multiple weapons at once, but the canonicity of that is very debatable and even then, Ryu's arsenal is far larger than what he demonstrated. Not to mention his Ninpo was more effective than even the specialized training Jack got in terms of offense and usability.
Popup: This distinction between the period of weapons usage means Jack would have rare possession of the tuning knife. Considering Scaramouche didn't try hitting Jack with it directly and was only used on inanimate objects, it likely wouldn't work on organics and even then, Ryu's armour and Ninpo would let him defend against this.
Boomstick: Most significantly was that Ryu's Dragon Sword was similarly unbreakable and mystically empowered like Jack's Katana, meaning Jack's Tremendous Horse Cut wouldn't do much good. And ultimately, Ryu simply had more power backing him up.
Wiz: The idea behind Jack's sword is for it to be highly effective against evil beings, regardless of their durability, especially since it's the only means to kill Aku. But Aku came from the meteor that killed the dinosaurs, so scaling without regard for the purpose of Jack's Katana means he could potentially best a lifelong foe who generated an explosion visible from space. One worth 8 teratons of TNT (Amelia Lonelyheart). Impressive enough, but Ryu has gone up against foes with much greater reports of power, such as covering the planet in darkness, generating solar eclipses or splitting the Earth in two. The last of which takes a single zettaton of TNT, or 150 million times more power than Aku's impact.
Boomstick: So whilst Ryu may not have been able to break Jack's unbreakable katana, he could break the samurai himself. Especially since he could bring a second sword as powerful as the True Dragon Sword along for the ride as well.
Wiz: With his arsenal and power, Ryu could ensure Jack was not getting back to the past.
Boomstick: Nope, all he was getting to was the Passed Away.
Wiz: The winner is Ryu Hayabusa.

Trivia[]
- Connections: Both are wielders of legendary blades forged and used to slay evil beings formerly wielded by their predecessors and made by benevolent entities; Samurai Jack's Katana was forged by three gods to kill Aku after his father had initially sealed him away and Ryu Hayabusa's Dragon Sword was forged by the Dragons out of a fang to enable his ancestor to fight the Dark Dragon, with both succeeding in finally killing these evil entities themselves. Both are both themed around historical Japanese enemies; samurai and ninja respectively and continue to operate as such in spite of being in the modern world and fighting both supernatural and technological foes. Both have also been afflicted with supernatural infections (the Aku Infection and Grip of Murder respectively).
