Description[]
Samurai Jack Vs. Hero 108
A battle between two of Cartoon Network's most noble, peace-loving warriors commence as they prove their might and see what they're made of.
Introduction[]
Wiz: Samurai Jack, the ancient warrior lost to time.
Boomstick: Lin Chung, the stylite leader of First Squad.
Wiz: Two of Cartoon Networks most noble warriors. Both equally as skilled and honourable as they are deadly.
Boomstick: And both of 'em aren't particularly new to the concept of time travel, either.
Cuts to Wiz and Boomstick
Boomstick: He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick.
Wiz: And it's our job to analyse their weapons, armour and skills to find out who would win... a DEATH BATTLE.
Samurai Jack[]
Wiz: In times long past, over distant valleys and breath-taking peaks, there lay a humble residential area where peace knew no bounds. But peace was never an option, so said the shapeshifting master of darkness himself; Aku.
Boomstick: Knowing that time was of the essence before Aku destroyed them all, the villages' emperor and his wife sent their eight-year old son out on the mission of a life time in order to be prepared for his inevitable encounter with Aku.
Wiz: For the next 17 years of his life, the young warrior went across the world and learnt many different fighting techniques to help take down Aku once and for all. By the age of 25 he was finally ready to take on the final boss and so he faced Aku head on.
Boomstick: Alright Wiz, We see where this is going. The boring "The hero defeats the evil and everyone lived happily ever after" ending, so why don't we skip forward a bit here and start covering-
Wiz: Three minutes later and the prince was left stranded in the future where Aku had enslaved the world and turned it into an intergalactic trading hotspot.
Boomstick: WOAH- ok alright back it up a bit. Suddenly settin' new records for how fast cartoon villains can conquer the world now.
Wiz: The young warriors' fight with Aku didn't go entirely as planned. Before the final blow could be dealt, Aku unleashed his final trump card and sent the prince over a millennia into the future, where he had taken control over the entire planet.
Boomstick: And it was there where after meeting some alleyway drunkies where the prince adopted his new and unforgettable name.
Samurai Jack.
Boomstick: Huh... not what I'd imagine a "fierce warrior" wielding a super long sword would look like but hey, gun laws can get the better of you. Also, we gotta talk about that name real quick, "Jack"? Really? Couldn't have come up with something more...I don't know, more fearsome I guess? I mean he is a samurai, right?
Wiz: To be fair, the name "Jack" is more so an alias he chooses to go under in order to keep his true identity a secret from his enemies. Hell, his actual name is a complete mystery.
Boomstick: Oh, so he's a vigilante type of guy then?
Wiz: Far from it. While their definitely is at least some level of vengeance behind Jacks' cause for what Aku did to his people and others alike, he is often best described as a generous and stoic figure who is willing to help anyone in need, even going out of his way to put the needs of others before himself.
Boomstick: At the young age of eight, Jack held an extraordinary amount of potential in him as he was able to master certain fighting styles and techniques such as martial arts from Shaolin Monks and staff-fighting from a tribe of bushmen, just to name a few. He was able to learn a good majority of it before the age of 25 where his big """final fight""" with Aku was intended to take place, but uhh, we know how that went down.
Wiz: And arguably his most signature and greatest skill is his performance with a blade which very few opponents have shown to match. His style of striking with swiftness and precision, rushing down his opponents leaving them with little defensive play. Though that doesn't mean Jack isn't used to going on the defensive side as well as he can also switch styles in an instant to parrying his opponents strikes and waiting for the perfect opportunity to retaliate with a decisive blow.
Boomstick: Besides all the swordplay he's been doin', Jack is also accustomed to many other weapons such as the aforementioned staffs, bows, his bare fists, knives and the such, and... ahh... even good ol' guns.
Wiz: While Jack's arsenal tends to fluctuates depending on the situation he's in, he's always stuck by his tried and true Magic Sword. Forged by the gods Ra, Odin and Vishnu to vanquish Evil and said to only be wielded by those pure of heart, it's more than capable of tearing through even the toughest of materials such as adamantium, which is tougher than steel, and even has the ability to redirect energy based attacks if timed correctly.
Boomstick: Besides all of those though, he's also got stuff to help close distances in long ranged fights such as the usual samurai based stuff such as shuriken's and throwing knives to...literal electric bombs like the X-49. Y'know, normal samurai gear.
Wiz: He's also got the cunnings and skills to back all his gear up. He's shown on multiple occasions to have a high level of understanding and intellect when it comes to planning and creating strategies for confrontations by using his surrounding to his advantage such as when he fought against the Shinobi[2] or the Daughters of Aku[3] by using the cover of the light/snow to plan out and stealthy strike his opponents.
Boomstick: Oh, so he is a Batman kinda guy then...
Wiz: Well I mean, Batman if he could talk to animals[4] as well, If you want to think about it that hard.
Boomstick: Hobo Samurai Batman...Hell Yeah.
Wiz: ...Right...
Wiz: The road to this power definitely wasn't easy for Jack, even more so in the future where he had to deal with Aku's numerous robot soldiers not to mention the other threats that lay in wait as well. Despite having seemingly reaching the pinnacle of his strength, Jack improved upon himself even more once arriving in the future and along his journey to once again take down Aku for good this time.
Boomstick: Like the time he went training with a bunch of apes and was taught how to "Jump good". During this training Jack had to carry around a giant bolder on his back that would have weigh the equivalent of 39 tons. Not only that, but he was once able to throw around a sumo wrestler stated to weigh over 700 tons![5]
Wiz: He's also been able to defeat 6 bounty hunters in the time it took for a raindrop to hit the ground[6]. One of the bounty hunters themselves stated that they could throw knives "faster than any bullet"[7] and Jack was still able to dodge it. Overall, this was able to be clocked in an around under a third of a second.
Boomstick: Heck, he's even trained his senses to the point where he can dodge multiple arrow shots coming at him all at once while he blindfolded[8].
Wiz: One of his more tougher adversaries, the Ultra-Robots, were built specifically in mind to counter everything Jack had. The flamethrower Ultra-Robot in particular was capable of unleashing an attack that destroyed part of an entire city. If we based each buildings size from before this attack is unleashed each building comes out at about 3 to 5 meters wide. With this in mind as well as the blast diameter of around 276 meters and the size of the Ultra-Robot this would mean it would need around 6.57E+12 Joules of energy in order to pull this off which would be 1.6 Kilotons of TNT[9].
Boomstick: Mind you, there were multiple of these "Ultra-Robot" guys that Jack had to deal with all at once, and then he just cut through 'em like butter!
Wiz: He's been shown to dodge incoming sunlight, which should put him at around 80% the speed of light[11]. While not as impressive, he has also been shown to be able to react to ships that can travel at around lightspeed while at top speed.
Boomstick: So basically, Jack is pretty *ahem* "Jacked" if you couldn't tell already. But being stuck in the future for about 50 years has gotta put a toll on your mind, right?
Wiz: Most definitely. Being stranded in a completely unfamiliar location with little to no understanding on the culture or language others speak. Your families dead, you got robots constantly trying to kill you 24/7, the amount of time you'd have to self reflection upon yourself and all your mistakes. That's bound to do something to even the most fortitude of people.
Boomstick:...Yeah, you have fun with thinkin' that one out, bud. Meanwhile, I'd go and make proper use of my time...I wonder if they could give me double shotgun legs in the future...
Wiz shakes off whatever thoughts he had and gets back on topic
Wiz: Right, right. Despite Jack's many amazing achievements across his many adventures while trying to return to the past, it ultimately did take a major toll on his health, both mentally and somewhat physically. Over the next 50 years he spent stuck in the future, he eventually fell into a deep depression and seemingly madness, hallucinating visions of himself that would even go as far as trying to convince him to end his own life as there was there was seemingly nothing to stop Aku now that Jack had lost his sword in a battle with the master of darkness prior to his current situation.
Boomstick: It took a long time, but after finally consoling with himself and facing his inner demons with the help of not only a ol' cup of tea but with the convincing of a once enemy now...potentially more than friend, Ashi. Jack was ultimately able to overcome his past trauma and move forward while no longer being bound by the past. Quite literally. Once he returned to the past with the help of Ashi's super Aku powers, Jack vanquished Aku once and for all.
Wiz: And after all was said and done, Jack was finally able to return to the past where peace had finally been restored, not just for the citizens of Earth, but for him as well. For he finally was able to have his happily ever after with Ashi and live the life of peace he so desperately fought for.
Boomstick: Just, uh... Try not to bring up the other [14] ending.
"Your choices have clearly lead you here, as have mine. I will give you a new choice; leave here now and live, or stay... and face your destiny."
Lin Chung[]
Wiz: Hidden Kingdom, a land of peace and prosperity between all walks of life, no matter how big or small and Humans were no exception to this. Humans and animals were able to coexist with each other for many centuries amongst the various animal kingdoms scattered across Hidden Kingdom.
Boomstick: But like most civilizations conflict is bound to rise sooner or later, and who else other than a human outcast by the name of High Roller to come along to take revenge and backstab his own kind by taking control over majority of the animals, bribing them to do his bidding with...candy... eh, I've seen weirder things to be bribed by.
Wiz: With almost the entirety of Hidden Kingdoms' animals doing his dirty work for him by terrorizing the remaining humans, there was little to none left to oppose High Rollers rule. Though one little monkey saw right through High Rollers lies and set in stone the events which lead to the creation of the organisation known solely as Big Green.
Boomstick:
Lin Chung!
Jumpy Ghostface!
Mystique Sonia!
Mighty Ray!
And...Mr. No Hands is here for moral support, I guess.
Wiz: With this ragtag team of heroes formed, they set out to reunite humans and animals across Hidden Kingdom, put a stop to High Roller's antics and ultimately restore peace once more.
Boomstick: While the team did have a military leader in the form of Mr. No Hands who was in charge of their training they needed a leader on the field in order to act as the backbone for their team, and amongst the members of Big Green, none of them stood out more than Lin Chung.
Wiz: That isn't to discredit any of the other members of Big Green either, all of them are more than capable of holding their own in battle with their unique sets of traits and abilities that set them apart from one another, but there are certain qualities of a person that can culminate in a team leader.
Boomstick: And Lin more than definitely had those traits needed to become the field leader that First Squad needed. Before even joining Big Green he was trained under the guise of the local wise guy Tien Khuan, for how long though? Well, Nobody really knows. In fact, majority of Lin Chung's backstory before he joined Big Green is a complete mystery.
Wiz: Mystery his backstory may be, but him as a person? Not quite. Other members of Big Green often describe him as the calmest and quietest of the group, having the more stoic and down to earth approach that serves well in terms of curbing the more impulsive members of First Squad. If chaos and destruction aren't on the forecast for that day, he can usually be found in the rather spacious and lush bamboo forest in which he meditates. He's also very slow to anger, and yet despite this he's not completely immune to losing his cool at times, particularly when it comes to a certain topic of his that he arguably takes more seriously that fighting, that being his art.
Boomstick: Even more so if someone ends up criticizing it, which is totally valid by the way. I mean just look at it. What? Did his master teach him first grade finger painting lessons as well?
Wiz: Well, people have different ways of expressing art don't they? One mans trash another mans treasure, right?
Boomstick: Look, to each their own and all, but there's no escaping the fact that what I'm looking at isn't a coherent drawing and is just the equivalent of watching someone draw using a mouse.
Wiz: I'm meant to take this from a guy whos parents named him after a stick of dynamite?
Boomstick: Hey, this name means something y'know. Besides, what side of the family thought on "Wizard" for a name?
Wiz: We don't talk about nanny wiz...
After a brief cut, Wiz continues with the analysis.
Wiz: Anyhow. As stated beforehand, Lin's skills with a brush aren't the only thing he's known for. As the leader of First Squads' he certainly doesn't pull any punches when it comes to combat what with being a student of Tien Khuan, possibly even his best.
Boomstick: He's able to beat skilled martial arts masters such as Samurai Bushido[16], who was able to take on an entire army all on his own[17]. Besides all the martial arts stuff though, he's shown his fair bit of expertise in the field of staff fighting with his signature weapon; his bamboo staff.
Wiz: Don't be fooled by its appearance, it may look like an ordinary bit of bamboo but it's more than durable to withstand being smashed against even the toughest of foes. With enough precision it can even shatter boulders in half[18].
Boomstick: Not to mention it doubles as a goddamn sniper rifle! Meditation isn't the only thing he's doing in that jungle, he's just waiting on good ol' mother nature to give him more of that sweet ammunition. With this ammunition in the barrel of his staff, Lin can fire multiple bamboo shots outta the top of it.
Wiz: And that's only the tip of the iceberg. By performing the simple action of holding his hands up to his eyes like binoculars, he can activate what is known as Panther Vision[19]; an ability that allows the user to see great distances, view what would ordinarily be invisible objects to the naked eye and even allowing them to the world in slow motion while moving at high speeds.
Boomstick: But by far his most impressive ability he's got up his non-existing left sleeve is his power to control the worlds harmonic energy. After a little self reflection and a few visits from his weird, possibly dead master, Lin gained the ability to harness this energy to do a crap ton of stuff. Creating shields and barriers to help him breath underwater[22] and block incoming attacks[23], shoot beams of energy [24] and blasts[25] as well as being able to deflect energy shots[26] and even give him buffs to his strength and agility[27]. The caveat of this all however is that the person using harmonic energy needs to keep focused while using it, that and it does take a lot out of you. Think of it all as like being a green lantern what with the ring and the willpower stuff, but not really.
Wiz: With the use of his harmonic energy, Lin would use this power to help further spread Big Green's message of peace among worlds. Though High Roller and his gang weren't the only beings who didn't take too kindly to this idea of tranquillity. You see, in the world of Hero 108 Harmonic energy is balanced out by the essence known as Chaotic energy and so whenever their is an overabundance of Chaotic energy things tend to not go well for almost anyone involved.
Boomstick: Animals will end up mutating[28], plants straight up die[29], stuff you'd expect of stuff literally called "Chaotic Energy". Naturally the first thought of where the source of this chaotic energy is coming from must be the pretty messed up individual, right? Well, what better individual to give this title of "source of the worlds evil" to than literally satan...sort of. We'll get to that in a bit.
Wiz: Chaotic energy is not something you want to toy around with. It would have even have enough energy to cause an entire volcano to erupt[30]... Well, would have being the key word here as this eruption would have ended up being prevented thanks to the efforts of Lin Chungs' harmonic energy which was able to nullify this energy.
Boomstick: And that's not all this magical grapefruit energy is capable of, it's shields are capable of withstanding being deep within molten lava[32], withstanding the most violent of cave ins[33] and even take attacks from fellow first squad members such as Mighty Ray[34].
Wiz: Mighty Ray himself is strong enough to create large craters with his eye beams. In one instance after shooting one of his eye beams at a horde of rhinos it left a massive crater behind. Looking closer, the rhinos come out to around 3.6576 meters each with the hole crater itself coming in at around 35.75 meters wide and deep. With all this in mind, this attack comes out as 220 Kilotons of TNT [35].
Boomstick: Lin is largely considered to be the strongest member of First Squad by far, so it's not crazy to assume that Lin is comparable to if not even stronger than this. Not to mention Lin fights guys that can tank these attacks with little issue on a daily basis such as the Zebra Brothers.
Wiz: He's also fast enough to dodge the likes of lasers[37]. To dodge that, he'd need to be moving at roughly 28% the speed of light[38].
Boomstick: As mentioned beforehand, he's faced plenty of experienced opponents such as the aforementioned Samurai Bushido and the Crocodile King[39], Lady Green who went undefeated throughout an entire tournament[40] and even the likes of Prince Yang Tu, a power hungry soon to be king who was destined to rule over Hidden Kingdom with an Iron Fist.
Wiz: Now, chronologically speaking, the events of Yang Tu trying to take control of Hidden Kingdom take place centuries before the main events that unfold in the story which should mean that this shouldn't feasibly be possible... That is unless a little thing called-
Boomstick: Good ol' time travel bein' bullshit as always!!
Wiz:...Unless time travel was involved. You see, every thousand a comet known as "Sohoyot's Comet" passes by the realm of Hidden Kingdom. This is no ordinary comet, mind you. Once passing directly over the sun, this comet is capable of unleashing devastating fire tornados that are also capable of sending those caught in its path back in time if their is enough Chaotic Energy present.
Boomstick: And wouldn't y'know it, Lin Chung just so happened to be caught in one of these tornados. Even better? The literal embodiment of Chaotic Energy was coincidentally nearby as well[41]. It was there where Lin was captured by Yan Tu's forces for accusations of siding with the animal resistance.
Wiz: After escaping from his prison cell, he then set his eyes on stopping Yang Tu's plans for world domination. After finding him atop a volcanic peak, the two had a ferocious battle, though in the end the forces of good prevailed and Lin Chung came out on top and thus Yang Tu would meet his demise by falling into a massive crevasses.
Boomstick: ...Is where this would've ended had it not been for, again, time travel bullshit. Y'see, after "defeating" the prince and he fell down that big crack in the floor, he didn't really "die" per say. He just lay dormant for the next thousand years, mastering his chaotic powers he somehow got until one day he just kinda showed up, I guess? I don't know, it's never really explained all that much. Anyway, all of this ended up causing a massive "time loop" in history where Yu Tang was destined to become what was now known as Twin Masters over and over again. Accident or not, this one's on Lin Chung, so I'll just blame my headache on him as well... Thinking was never my strong suit...
Wiz: Hey, it's as you said "time travel bullshit", remember?
Boomstick: No, I get that and all, but that's not even the start of all the bullshit that just kind of happens in this world. You got people turning into shit like kites[42] and then there's the whole "cheetah boots[43]" stuff and this and that and just a whole bunch of bullshit... We went from a book about a bunch of guys trying to take on an evil empire to superpowered superhumans joining together to take down what's essentially just satan as the avatar. Like goddamn, what the hell even is this universe anymore?
Wiz: It's Hero 108, and with one of it's finest protectors in Lin Chung being their to triumph over any evil that comes in First Squads' way? I'd say Hidden Kingdom is in good hands.
"You and your friends have done well, Lin Chung. But many challenges lay ahead for Big Green; defenders of peace and harmony."
"And we will always be there to meet them, my master. So swears Lin Chung, First Squad... And Hero: 108."
Intermission[]
Wiz: All right, the combatants are all set and we've ran through the data on all possibilities.
Boomstick: So now, IT'S TIME FOR A DEATH BATTLE!!
Pre-Battle[]
The camera pans down to the scene of a lone pink blossom tree on top of a wide, mountain-like area with the sun just about peaking up over the cloud line, it's gentle rays facing the back of the tree from the cameras perspective. In the background, the peaks of other mountains can also be made out, sneaking above the clouds. The camera cuts to a shot on the ground of autumn red grass, each blade gently flowing in the wind, with the focus being taken off of the grass and onto the silhouette of a figure sitting with their legs neatly folded, arms in their lap while quietly laying against the trunk of the blossom tree. Not too far away from the figure, a sack of unknown contents lay roughly on the ground with a familiar looking sword drawn deep into the ground around the ropes of the sack, keeping it firmly in place.
We cut to a shot of the figures' side while laying against the tree, the sunlight illuminating them to reveal the face of Jack with his eyes closed, deep in thought. with the only notable sounds being the gentle breeze of the wind slipping by. Something like this wasn't new to Jack, being alone with nothing but nature was something he was very used to at this stage in his life, not that he didn't enjoy being in the company of others but it was also nice for him to take the time to relax and reflect on things such as himself and past events.
As he sat their with his eyes closed and alone with nothing but the warm and brittle breeze of the wind, miraculously, a lone ladybug flew into view, riding the wind as if it were at sea. The ladybug eventually found its footing and landed itself atop Jack's nose which catches the attention of the samurai. He opens one eye to inspect what was scurrying around on the tip of his nose, just to find the curious ladybug eyeing him down with its beady eyes. A brief soft smile formed across his face as he watched the insect going on about its life.
This moment was short lived, however. Echoing out across the vastness of the peak came the sounds of foot steps, faint yet noticeable. From the sounds of it they appeared to be coming up the same deep incline Jack had used to get up to where he currently was. It couldn't be an average person, nobody should even be up here...Not unless it was something of Aku's doing. Perhaps another one of his henchman? Either way, he couldn't chance it. As he opened both of his eyes and focused his attention towards the noise of his possible foe, the ladybug that was once perched up on his nose had taken off, though Jack paid little attention towards it.
Eyeing his sword that was just about in arms reach of him, he kept his focus on the sounds of footsteps as they drew ever closer and closer. Eventually he could make out the sounds of someone clearing the incline until almost everything fell silent, with nothing but the wind for company. From what he could tell, his opponent was standing not too far away from where he lay as if they were taking their positions for battle. The sound of an assertive, somewhat soft voice eventually broke the silent.
"You must be the samurai. Am I Right?"
Still feeling a little optimistic about the situation and in the same position with his legs still folded, Jack responded, "Indeed I am. What business do you have here?"
"My name is Lin Chung." The voice uttered. "I've heard about your many amazing achievements that you've made, so I figured showing my skills to you would guide me on the correct path to getting stronger".
Letting out a sigh of preparation, Jack stood up to face the figure. He walked out from behind the trunk of the tree and stood in front of his sword, still staked into the ground. "And you came here on your own intuition?" He retorted with as he stood firmly, the light of the sun behind him casting a shadow over him as he menacingly glared towards his opponent. The glare of the sunlight made it hard to make heads or tails of who he was looking at. He could make out what seemed to be a pole of some sorts casted upon the persons back as well as an oddly blocky looking hat.
Sensing the tension picking up, Lin tried to explain his reason for being there, "Somewhat, yes. My master was the one who told me about you. I'm sorry if I gave you the wrong impression what with that entry I made."
Jack paused for a moment. The glare of the sun softening to fully reveal the face of Lin Chung to Jack as he stood before him. He contemplated with himself, "...I see. My apologises also then, It seems we both got off on the wrong footing. It's not often that many people can navigate themselves around these mountains considering the harsh terrain and environment".
Lin let out a slight chuckle at the remark, relating to it somewhat. "It definitely wasn't easy finding you, that's for sure. As you said, navigating through these mountains certainly wasn't easy, but in the end I finally".
"Indeed you have." Jack chuckled "I can tell you have undergone much training. But before we begin...".
In the blink of an eye, Jack cut a firm, long branch off of the blossom tree. Picking it up and wielding it as if it were a staff, he took his positions opposite his opponent, "Let's start with a warmup, shall we?"
Lin's face lit up with a face of concentration with a slight smirk coming across his face as these words hit his ears. "It would be my honour" he said as he drew his bamboo stick, ready for the suing battle.
Silence once again fell over the hilltop as the two warriors awaited their opponents first move.
In what seemed like an instant, Jack rushed towards Lin. Before Lin knew it Jack was only feet in front of him, raising the branch above his head and angling it downwards for an overhead slash.
Lin raises his staff in front of him in order to block the hit as the two got into a struggle, both holding their ground.

Connections:
Both are calm, honourable and respected warriors from Cartoon Network Shows heavily inspired by Asian culture whose goals are to stop a tyrannical ruler/ancient, godlike evil being (Aku and Twinmasters) for which they have trained extensively.
Both were passed through the tools (The Magic Sword and The Harmonic Energy) the old man they look up to in becoming warriors (The Emperor who is Jack's father and Tien Khuan who is Lin Chung's Master) and it is used for the good and was used against the ultimate villain of the series and destroyed them, not to mention it's one of it's many weaknesses to be killed
Around the end of their journeys, both travelled through time in attempt to stop the ultimate evil from gaining power. However, both faced consequences for this: while Jack succeeded, he lost Ashi (his girlfriend and Aku's daughter) because he killed Aku before Ashi could be born. Lin Chung accidentally caused the prince Yang Tu to become Twin Masters in a self-fulfilling prophecy/time loop.
Despite their failures, they eventually go on to defeat the ultimate evil which allows for a more peaceful world.[44]
