One Punch Man vs. Dragon Ball. In a match of bald heroes who will prove their underappreciated power?

Introduction[]

Wiz: Being bald can be a sign of several things; either being a well-defined badass or signs of a lackluster unfortunate fellow.

Boomstick: And sometimes, or somehow, it can be both.

Wiz: Like Saitama, the one-punch man.

Boomstick: And Krillin, Goku's best friend. He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick.

Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor and skills to find out who would win a Death Battle.

Saitama[]

Wiz: The world of One-Punch Man is a very different place to our own. Instead of numerous continents, there is just one, split up into 31 different cities.

Boomstick: It's like if Pangaea if that pesky thing called history never happened. Whilst you probably don't need to pay for flying in commercial, it's not all easy living on that giant island.

Wiz: Villains and other mysterious monsters have long since plagued this world, and it is up to the Heroes Association to keep them at bay.

Boomstick: Strange that there needs to be an entire army of superheroes when there's already one who can do all their jobs with literally one move.

Wiz: The One Punch Man, a human being of such awesome power, defeat is a foreign concept to him. But to the surprise of many, he's not what you'd expect.

Boomstick: There's really no sugarcoating it; he's kind of a lowlife.

  • Background
    • Age: 25
    • Height: 5'9
    • AKA Caped Baldy
    • B-Rank Hero (Formerly C)
    • Reluctant teacher of cyborg Genos
    • Named after a Japanese city

Wiz: Like many people at a young age, Saitama wanted to be a hero.

Boomstick: Sure is a relatable guy alright; he's a lowlife and he wants to be a super-powered being.

Wiz: It was a dream of his that sprang up when he saved a...odd-chinned child from a half-naked crab man. Yes, that's the apt. description of what transpired.

Boomstick: After de-shelling that crustacean creep, Saitama decided to become a hero, but first, he needed to get himself in shape. 100 sit-ups, 100 push-ups, 100 squats and a 10 mile run! Every. Single. Day! And no air conditioning either and barely any food. For three solid years!

Wiz: That doesn't sound like an exercise routine. Sounds more like a way to hospitalize yourself. But, amazingly, through Saitama's own efforts or some outside means, Saitama succeeded in getting the power he needed. But at a terrible, terrible cost to himself.

Boomstick: The loss of his hair...you know, I want to stronger than the next guy, but never at the cost of my flowing locks. But at least Saitama had his power.

Wiz: And what a power is was. Saitama's strength rose to a downright immeasurable degree.

Boomstick: That's why he's called the One-Punch Man; he's so strong, he can defeat just about any foe with a single strike. Every single time, all it takes is a single strike to reduce even the strongest of monsters to a puddle of blood and guts.

  • Powers and Techniques
    • Immense strength
    • Immense speed
    • Invincibility
    • Normal Series
      • Consecutive Normal Punches
    • Serious Series
      • Serious Strike
      • Serious Consecutive Sidesteps
      • Serious Tableflip
      • Serious Headbutt

Wiz: He isn't just incredibly strong, but is also incredibly tough, having yet to take any form of actual damage in combat. He's also incredibly fast, both to react and to move.

Boomstick: He can also somehow breath in space, which I guess has something to do with his invincibility. Doesn't make a lot of sense either way, but hey, neither does achieving the power of one-shot taps just from some excruciating exercise, no matter what Saitama tells you.

Wiz: It also makes little sense for Saitama to actually have a series of different techniques to his name when a normal hit will do the job.

Boomstick: His Consecutive Normal Punches are just sheer overkill most of the time when a normal one is enough to send villains' heads into the upper atmosphere, but in all fairness he does have some skills that mix up his approaches.

Wiz: The Serious Tableflip involves him grabbing the ground in front of him and literally flipping everything before him upwards. It was once used to dig out an entire sub-terrainian base in one motion.

Boomstick: The Serious Headbutt makes use of his chrome-dome to deliver a devastating cranial strike and the Sidesteps not only cast afterimages from the sheer intensity of the speed used but will also generate a shockwave to uproot the footings of others.

Wiz: But when Saitama truly wants to get a little serious, he pulls out the Serious Strike.

Boomstick: This technique was so powerful, it was able to punch straight through an attack beam of pure energy and hit the one-eyed douchebag who fired it with the aftershock alone.

Wiz: The aftershock even ended up splitting the clouds, and Boros, the one-eyed douchebag himself, said that his attack would be able to destroy the entire planet. That meant that Saitama would of had to exert enough force to match a power capable of destroying the entire planet, as comfirmed by the One-Punch Man Official Databook.

Boomstick: Probably easier to do since there's just the one super-big continent but whatever, not important. Point is, Saitama is one powerful guy. In fact, his Heroes Association Rank and assigned name does nothing to credit just what he's capable of.

  • Feats
    • Countered Boros Collapsing Star Roaring Cannon
    • Dodged telekinetically hurled pieces of rubble
    • Jumped back from the moon
    • Punches dispersed rainclouds and split the clouds over the globe
    • Resisted the Tornado of Terror's psychic power
    • Defeated Deep Sea King, Boros, Elder Centipede, Garou

Wiz: That isn't all. You see, throughout the entirety of Saitama's battles that we've seen, he has never once had to resort to using his full power. As in, he is barely trying in each and every battle.

Popup: There is a claim that Saitama packs the force of 'half a big bang', but this is not officially backed up.

Boomstick: Holy crap! And he somehow still thinks it's all a result of some training. He's battled against Monsters that can leave most S-Class Heroes in the Hospital, like the Deep Sea King or the Elder Centipede, an absolutely massive monster that's so long, it can coil throughout an entire city.

Wiz: There are also final-boss worthy foes that he's defeated without much effort, like our aforementioned Lord Boros and the Hero Hunter Garou, who ended up evolving to become resistant to his punches to a certain degree.

Boomstick: But that wasn't enough to beat Saitama however. In fact, what can?

Wiz: Well, he does have a rather large shortcoming, and ironically, it's because of his comically massive strength; he's so powerful, he's become bored with just about everything. Even getting knocked around all over the place by his opponents doesn't get a rise out of him since he'll never actually take damage from them, so fights he engages in end up dragging on for a lot longer than they logically should when they involve someone who can kill anything in one hit. But in spite of the boredom that his role as a hero has ultimately brought him, Saitama continues to do it.

Boomstick: It's like he said, "If heroes run, who will stay and fight?"

Wiz: Saitama will, always ready to end a fight with only one punch.

Boomstick: ONE PUUUUUNNNNNCCCCCCHHHHH!

Krillin[]

Wiz: Son Goku, the beloved Super Saiyan, has amassed not only a sizeable pool of enemies, but also a large circle of friends.

Boomstick: Some of whom were pals to him right off the bat, and others who originally started out as rivals.

Wiz: And this even applies to his best friend and fellow martial arts expert, Krillin.

  • Background
    • Age: 38
    • Height: 5'
    • Best friend of Son Goku
    • Married to Android 18
    • Trained by martial artist
    • Lacks a nose for some reason

Boomstick: Goku and Krillin first met each other when learning under martial arts pervert Master Roshi. Back then, Krillin was a bit of a twerp. The only reason he wanted to "git gud" at fighting was to attract the ladies. Which, if you ask me, is a perfectly valid reason for wanting to practice grueling physical labor.

Wiz: Hey now, don't go enabling bratty behavior Boomstick, we're better than that.

Boomstick: Of course I'm not going to do that. I'm entirely thrilled that young Goku proved a positive influence on Krillin.

Wiz: Soon Krillin's old personality was gone, and in its place was one of a determined and compassionate one, willing to put his life on the line for his friends and his world.

Boomstick: He was so determined to do so, he didn't even care that he soon found himself utterly outclassed by the many foes that would come into being, or even by most of his allies.

Wiz: That's not to say Krillin in weak. As a matter of fact, he's been described as the strongest purely human warrior on Earth.

Boomstick: When all the other warriors above you are either aliens, alien hybrids, or super enhanced cyborgs, being the strongest natural human isn't anything to undersell.

Wiz: This is mainly thanks to Krillin's usage of Ki, a spiritual source of energy that all living beings possess some amount of. But only a few actually go through the training to harness it.

  • Techniques
    • Ki Blast
    • Flight
    • Destructo Disk
      • Destructo Disk Triple Blade
    • Solar Flare
      • Solar Flare x 100
    • Kamehameha
    • Full Power Energy Blast Volley
    • Double Tsuibikidan
    • Photon Bomber
    • Scattering Bullet

Boomstick: Training that involves all that martial arts stuff Krillin learned from a young age, and he was an outright master at it, and his usage of Ki only made him more formidable.

Wiz: Krillin can utilize Ki to fly through the air or to sense the locations of others. He can fire orbs of Ki as a basic form of attack, but he has loads more advanced techniques he can use.

Boomstick: Like the Solar Flare, where he produces a bright light to blind anyone who doesn't get the hint what he's doing even as he yells it out. You know, I gotta wonder how he does it. Does he reflect light off the top of his head or something? Would explain why he keeps it shaved.

Wiz: Well, my guess is he utilizes Ki to simulate the sudden shine of light, and of course he keeps his hair cut when fighting; he's a monk. Technically.

Boomstick: Yeah, and he "technically" has more techniques to use. Because he does.

Wiz: Thanks to training under Master Roshi, Krillin knows how to use the Kamehameha, a powerful beam of destructive energy that explodes on impact.

Boomstick: Aside from that, there's also the Double Tsuibikidan, twin trails of energy that actually home in on their targets whilst Krillin goes after them at the same time. And aside from that, he has the Scattering Bullet, where he essentially creates a hovering turret of Ki energy that fires out a rain of shots. The Photon Bomber is an orb of explosive energy and the Full Power Energy Blast Volley fires a barrage of Ki orbs.

Wiz: But Krillin has one technique that is his go-to above all others. The Destructo Disk. By channeling a circle of Ki in his hand, Krillin can create a razor blade of the energy, which is capable of cutting through just about any kind of substance.

Boomstick: Reckon he uses it to shave his head?

Wiz: The Destructo Disk is incredibly hard to control and direct, but as the creator of the technique, Krillin is a savant with it, those who get targeted by it often needing either some sharp senses or intervention to avoid it. He's even developed a Triple Blade variant.

Boomstick: It's such a useful technique that many others have in fact adapted it for their own use. Even some of the villains like Cell or Frieza. But being so weak in comparison to the likes of them means that Krillin needs to rely more on his wits rather than his raw strength.

Wiz: And he does so pretty well, observing his opponents from afar then using his tactics to draw out his fights to gain any advantage he can.

  • Feats
    • Strongest human warrior in Dragon Ball
    • Cut off Frieza's tail
    • Killed 4 Saibamen at once
    • Regularly spars with Goku
    • Has helped defend Earth numerous times
    • Defeated Bacterian, Chiaotzu, Pintar, Yunba

Boomstick: Like the advantage of not having a nose, which allowed him to beat a human version of Filthy Phil and use his own rancid shoe to defeat a foe with super smelling senses.

Wiz: Krillin was able to eventually reach a level of power that was superior to Goku's brother Raditz, evident by him killing four alien beings of equal power with a single blast each.

Boomstick: So Krillin can actually become more powerful with enough training, although the habit of most warriors having a transformation to increase their power kind of renders this point moot. But there is something that has allowed Krillin to keep up with even his strongest friends.

Wiz: As it turns out, having witnessed and kept track of so many incredibly battles and being the sparring partner of the utter juggernaut that is Goku has in fact honed Krillin's instincts to a fine point.

Boomstick: In other words, he's incredibly quick to react, sometimes without even thinking.

Wiz: This is relevant, since Goku has long since grown faster than one of Cell's Kamehamehas, which reached the speed of 673 times the speed of light (Kepekley23). As Krillin has fought some of the foes at Goku's level of speed beyond that, due to serial escalation, then his reaction speed should logically be higher than even that.

Boomstick: Too bad it isn't precisely like Ultra Instinct, the ultimate reaction enabler, since if Krillin lets his guard down, he won't be able to use those instincts of his.

Wiz: Also, the Destructo Disk cannot cut through absolutely everything, as one shattered against Cell's neck like a plate.

Popup: It was in the anime only that Krillin's Destructo Disk could cut through Kid Buu and even then, Buus have shown to be harmed by normal bullets.

Boomstick: Even so, one was able to cut through the tail of Frieza in his second form. You know, the guy who could blow up a planet with more energy than what was necessary?

Wiz: Krillin may end up dying more than most of Dragon Ball's heroes, but with his every return, he will always keep fighting, for both his friends, home and the family he had with Android 18.

Boomstick: Hang on a moment, let me get this straight; he's the strongest human alive, created a technique that can cut through just about anything, and he got an absolute bombshell for a loving wife? And people say he's the biggest loser in Dragon Ball?!

Wiz: No...that's more Yamcha's department.

Interlude[]

Wiz: Alright the combatants are set and we've run the data through all possibilities.

Boomstick: It's time for a Death Battle!

The Battle[]

Setting: Martial arts tournament arena

Krillin stood at one edge of the arena, tightening his cloth belt with a lofty grin on his face. From the other end of the arena came Saitama, his arms crossed and his typical bored look on his face, although he perked up slightly when he took notice of his opponent's shiny head.

Saitama: So you're bald too, huh. How'd you lose your hair?

Krillin: Oh, I didn't, I shaved it off actually.

Saitama's pupils promptly shrank with pure anger.

Saitama: So you can actually grow your hair and yet you shave it off regardless.

Krillin: Yeah. Why, don't you?

Saitama: Not exactly.

His hands clenched into fists whilst Krillin entered his fighting stance as the bell for the match rang.

FIGHT!

Krillin darted forward first, throwing out a punch with a yell. Saitama pulled back his own fist before lashing it out faster than most eyes could see. Not Krillin's eyes however and he dodged to the side. The fist almost skimmed his cheek as he did, getting out of the way to avoid the shockwave the mere motion of the punch brought, which sent dozens in the audience before it flying up into the air comically. Krillin landed and observed the effect.

Krillin: Yikes! That was close.

He quickly took notice of Saitama's second attempt at a punch, which he ducked beneath as it was swung outwards, the sheer wind pressure it produced ripping a circular gouge out of the ground behind Krillin, who then leapt up to deliver a series of punches to Saitama's face. The hero didn't even blink, not even when Krillin delivered a kick to the side of his head. The sheer solidness of Saitama meant that Krillin's own attack pushed him away to the right of Saitama, who was ever unphased, imply turning his head to watch as Krillin landed.

Saitama: Wow, you're fast.

Krillin brought his fists up again and smiled nervously.

Krillin: Thanks, and you're pretty tough. But I have ways of cracking tough nuts.

He suddenly thrusted his hand out and an orb of Ki shot out. Saitama flicked his hand out to knock the orb away, but in doing so it broke his concentration away from Krillin, who came at him with a double-kick directly into his face. It was enough to make Saitama bend his head backwards, Krillin using his face as a springboard to leap up into the air to then unleash a barrage of Ki shots down which peppered Saitama's face, his shoulders and the ground around him. Krillin landed behind Saitama and took a familiar looking stance.

Krillin: Ka-me-ha-me-HA!

He unleashed the explosive energy wave and it engulfed Saitama before exploding around the Hero. Krillin smirked and breathed out in satisfaction, but then the smoke from the attack blew away and his jaw dropped open to see Saitama still none-the-worst. Caped Badly turned around to face him.

Saitama: Okay-dokie, you've had your go, now it's my turn; Consecutive Normal Punches.

Krillin: Consecutive wha-YAH!

Krillin suddenly found himself dodging a massive barrage of rapid-fire punches from the same fist, darting left and right to avoid getting hit, eventually leaping up into the air. Saitama looked up to see Krillin floating high above him, who then unleashed another barrage of Ki shots. Saitama dodged the attacks, flickering across the arena and leaving behind afterimages. Krillin gritted his teeth in annoyance as his attacks continued to miss, before a shadow suddenly fell over him, and he looked up to see that Saitama was now in front of him in the air, his hand lifted up.

Saitama: Hi there.

Saitama chopped downwards and Krillin acted quickly by channeling into his hand a Photon Bomber orb, thrusting it forward to meet Saitama's chop.

The resulting exploding produced a smoke cloud above the arena, and Krillin was sent spinning many miles away, eventually ending over a large river. He righted himself in the air, seeing how far he had been flung.

Krillin: Aw no, I'm definitely out of the tournament now.

Something caught his eye and he turned to see that Saitama was standing on the bank of the river, looking up at him.

Krillin: Hey, what are you doing here? You won that match by ringing me out.

Saitama: Oh, I didn't want to win, I just wanted to find a strong guy to fight. You're pretty tough, so I want to keep fighting you.

Krillin blinked in surprise.

Krillin: Wow, that's got to be the nicest thing anyone's ever said about me. Okay then...

His look turned serious.

Krillin: You want to keep going, then try and keep up!

Krillin turned and shot off across the river and Saitama smiled.

Saitama: Okay then, now we're talking.

He stepped forward and suddenly broke into an incredibly fast sprint that enabled him to run across the surface of the lake, leaving behind a massive spout of water in his wake. All the while, he kept his eyes trained on the flying Krillin.

Saitama: Hmm...he kind of looks like a duck way up there. Or maybe even a space duck. Anyway, back to fighting.

He leapt up towards Krillin, leaving an explosion of water behind him. Krillin heard him coming and rolled out of the way of his punch as it took its thrower up into the air above him. As the momentum wore off, Saitama sailed back down towards Krillin, throwing a downwards punch. Krillin also dodged this, and Saitama slid across the surface of the water before launching himself back up a second time. Upon coming back up to Krillin's level, Saitama hung in the air long enough for him to throw two avoided punches and Krillin to flip forward to slam the heel of his foot into the top of Saitama's head. The hero was sent flying back into the river, his impact parting a funnel through the body and water, all the way to the bottom, although he leapt back out before the water even had a chance to rush back into the empty space. Krillin saw him coming back towards him and flew forwards, but didn't get far enough before Saitama was back at his level and grabbed a hold of his ankle. Krillin yelled as Saitama chucked him at a downwards angle so that he hopped across the water's surface three times before skidding on it for a short distance. He was able to right himself so that he was skidding upright on his feet, and saw Saitama running after him. Krillin quickly channeled energy in his hands.

Krillin: Double Tsuibikidan!

He fired the twin trails of energy, who ran around them to continue perusing Krillin. However, he didn't notice them curving back towards him from behind, until one hit him the back mid-attempt to punch Krillin, knocking him forwards ever so slightly, but off balance enough so that when the second one collided with the back of his legs, he was knocked off his feet. Krillin darted forward as Saitama was suspended in the air and drove his knee up into his back, knocking him up into the air. As Saitama flew upwards, Krillin appeared to the left of him to deliver a kick that sent him flying in one direction, before repeating the maneuver over and over again, knocking Saitama about throughout the air. Krillin ended this by ceasing the rapid attacks, letting Saitama hang in the air for the last of these, before unleashing a Kamehameha, which carried the hero over the length of the river and towards the rocky mountains, the attack smashing him through several large rock formations behind ceasing with a massive explosion in the middle of one such mountain, leaving a massive crater.

Saitama popped himself out of the crater as Krillin hovered a few feet from him, breathing heavily.

Krillin: Damn it, what does it take to phase you?

Saitama: Not a lot actually. But you're getting there, so I'm gonna knock it up a notch.

He stepped forward and his face grew sharper.

Saitama: Serious Tableflip!

He turned around and dug his fingers into the ground, before wrenching them upwards. As a result, the entire mountain was ripped apart and flung into the air. Krillin's jaw dropped in shock, before his expression involved into panic as the shattered mountain rained down towards him. He quickly steeled himself and raised his hand above his head, channeling his signature technique.

Krillin: Destructo Disk!

He threw the Disk out, slicing through the boulders that had the biggest chance of hitting him. Thanks to the sheer intensity of the falling rubble, Krillin found himself hurling Disk after Disk in rapid succession, slicing apart as many of the rocks as possible. But they proved to be the least of his worries as Saitama suddenly appeared behind him, pulling his fist back. Krillin took notice at only the very last second, turning around to see Saitama ready to swing at him. The instant Saitama did however, Krillin turned around fully and placed both his eyes on either side of his face.

Krillin: Solar Flare!

The shining light blinded Saitama and his swing went wild, hitting nothing and instead sending out a shockwave. Saitama blinked away the shine in his eyes and looked about in time to get buried under some of the falling rubble, with a great deal still somehow raining down. Krillin was hopping from piece-to-piece to get higher into the air, and he looked down as he heard Saitama smash his way through the pile of rocks he was buried under. Seeing his opponent was making his way towards him thanks to his super-powerful jump, Krillin leapt from the rock he had been standing on before Saitama collided with and reduced it to dust. Krillin landed on another boulder, then had to leap from this one upwards as Saitama jumped at him again, using one of the chunks he had produced from colliding with the original boulder. Saitama came at Krillin again, unleashing the Consecutive Punches that pulverized many pieces of rubble as Krillin jumped to and from each one. Ending up even higher in the air, above all the remaining rocks that were still falling, Krillin produced a sphere of energy that hovered in the air below him before unleashing a barrage of shots downwards; the Scattering Bullet. The bombardment blew apart numerous rocks as Saitama moved across them, before he leapt upwards to join Krillin above the falling rubble. Still a little bit above Saitama, Krillin charged up another Kamehameha and unleashed it with another yell down at Saitama, who punched upwards to meet the beam. The connection between energy and fist produced a massive shockwave from the point of impact, which sent Saitama shooting back down to earth whilst Krillin was knocked upwards before he too fell as the shockwave threw off his flight.

Saitama hit the ground first before Krillin, both impacts leaving two large holes. Both fighters picked themselves up; Krillin breathing heavily whilst Saitama appeared to be barely winded.

Saitama: All out of moves then? Shame.

Krillin panted for a moment longer, before conjuring up another Destructo Disk.

Krillin: Well, you can't teach an old dog new tricks right? Destructo Disk!

He hurled it at Saitama, who dodged it effortlessly by leaning back, before suddenly appearing in front of Krillin.

Saitama: Serious Punch!

He threw it, and although Krillin jumped back, it wasn't enough to completely avoid it.

So it was a good thing that the Destructo Disk that had missed arced back around and sliced through Saitama's wrist, preventing his fist from connecting with Krillin.

Saitama:...huh...

The Destructo disk then split into three and sliced through Saitama's head, waist and knees, reducing the hero to a pile of bloody gibs. Krillin, who had fallen onto his back whilst getting away from Saitama's final attack, breathed out in relief.

Krillin: Too bad...he seemed like a nice guy.

KO!

Outcome[]

Boomstick: And here I thought bald people couldn't have any more close shaves.

Wiz: This was certainly an unusual matchup for us to decipher. With Saitama's full might not yet disclosed, it was hard to determine which one of these two held the strength.

Boomstick: Krillin's power has risen to the point where it's well beyond planet level, look on the VS wiki for that argument, but it's possible Saitama could be stronger than that, so ironically, analyzing power wasn't going to give us the answers we needed. So it fell to other areas to determine the outcome, which Krillin held the advantage in most.

Wiz: Such as speed. Scaling to Goku's progress, Krillin can react at over six-hundred the times the speed of light. Saitama's best feat was him intercepting telekinetically hurled rubble that travelled at the high ends of 2 times the speed of light (USklaverei).

Popup: Other characters like Bang have been able to outpace Saitama during trivial competitions he was actually trying to win, showing his speed is not as untapped as his strength.

Boomstick: This meant Saitama would be hard-pressed for an attack that would actually connect with Krillin, whilst Krillin could hit him all he liked, especially with his signature technique, the Destructo Disk. You know, the same kind of attack that cut through Frieza's tail whilst he was in his second form?

Wiz: Frieza's power in his first form was enough to destroy a planet with power worth 1.7 tenatons of TNT, enough to destroy a large dwarf star (Mr. G). As Dragon Ball Ki operates the same for defense as it does offense, then Krillin's signature technique would let him deal a fatal blow to Saitama, who has yet to show power or durability on that level. And anyways, the Destructo Disk's whole selling point is how it can harm opponents far above Krillin himself.

Popup: It was stated that Cell survived the Destructo Disk that directly hit him because of his immense Ki aura, implying that such a feature is what truly ensures survivability of the attack, which Saitama lacks.

Boomstick: Saitama has also never been trained like Krillin has. Hell, he doesn't want to be, since that would make any future fights even more easier for him to win.

Popup: Saitama has struggled with fighting martial artists before, as their expertise means its harder for him to keep a bead on them.

Wiz: Saitama certainly earned his moniker as the One-Punch Man, but Krillin's speed, experience and techniques gave him the leg up he needed.

Boomstick: They were the Ki reasons for his victory.

Wiz: The winner is Krillin.
