Trivia[]

The connections between Saitama and Metro Man are that they are overpowered heroes of their respective verses who parody and subvert the traditional superhero archetype.

  • Saitama is a parody of an overpowered character, embodying the idea of what would happen if a Shōnen protagonist started their journey at their strongest in contrast to starting from the bottom and only becoming the strongest at the end. On the other hand, Metro Man is a parody of Superman and embodies the concept of a perfect yet cliché superhero.
  • Both characters became so powerful that they fell into depression (With Saitama becoming emotionally numb due to one-shotting every enemy he faced without any challenge or feelings of satisfaction, while Metro Man became so bored of fighting and defeating Megamind all the time that he famously suffered an existential crisis, respectively)
  • Saitama is best known for his immense power, while Metro Man is best known for his tremendous speed, respectively
  • Both characters are notoriously hyped up by fans and power scalers alike
  • Both once had rivalries with passionate anti-villains who felt mistreated by society (Garou and Megamind, respectively)
    • They also can copy the powers and abilities of their adversaries (With Garou copying Saitama's exact strength before their epic fight and Megamind designing a super suit for himself that mimicked Metro Man's powers, respectively)

While Saitama and Metro Man have some similarities, they also have opposites.

  • The way people of their worlds perceive them is almost night and day (Despite saving the world countless times, no one knows who Saitama is, and he often receives hate and skepticism from those around him, even after he saves them. Saitama also has very few people he calls friends who respect him and are genuinely aware of his power. Meanwhile, Metro Man is an idol that's heavily loved, revered, and respected by everyone)
  • Both characters took different routes after becoming depressed (With Saitama continuing his casual duty as a hero, while Metro Man faked his death and retired his superhero mantle to pursue a career in music, respectively)
  • Both attained their strength through opposing means (Saitama got his powers by undergoing a mundane yet vigorous training regime that almost killed him, while Metro Man was simply born with his powers, respectively)
  • Both have opposing appearances and personalities (Saitama is bald, monotonous, rarely displays genuine emotions, and wears a rather casual outfit, while Metro Man is good-looking, charismatic, coherent, and wears a stylish white outfit)
  • Both have opposing financial backgrounds (Saitama is relatively poor, as he doesn't have a stable income and lives in a small and dingy apartment, not to mention he lives off deals and discounts for basic necessities. Metro Man, on the other hand, was adopted by a wealthy family, had access to top-notch technology such as his spaceship, and lives in a fancy underground base, respectively)
