Introduction[]
Mortician: Ryuji Sakamoto: The Skull Member of the Phantom Thieves.
Redshock: Joey Wheeler: The Punk Turned Master Duelist.
Mortician: You can be thrown away with an unfortunate past and have nothing to your name. But these two blonde ruffian dudes know no bounds on the word “Give Up”.
Redshock: Especially being master Giga Chads with a promise to help their friends out, but which Blonde Haired Best Friend will win in a Death Battle!
Ryuji Sakamoto[]
Mortician: In the Group of Zorro like heroes the Phantom Thieves of Heart. You would be hard pressed not to mess with them, especially with Former Track Star and Right Hand Man, Ryuji Sakamoto.
Redshock: Born as a child between an abusive father who abandoned him. Ryuji and his mother were forced to live and provide for themselves.
Mortician: He was sort of a problem child, but his mind was righteous. Especially when he asked his middle school acquaintance, Ann Takamaki, to buy a plush dolphin for his mom by lending him some money. What a good lad… until he didn’t pay her back.
Redshock: Some at Shujin academy saw Ryuji as a ruffian, but he was actually very kind and nice to others. And this dude was so determined to make Mommy Sakamoto happy that Later on, he got a great opportunity for his future and to ease his mother's burden by becoming a star athlete on the school's track team.
Mortician: He was so good that he became its leader and earned fellow teammates Nakaoka, Takeishi and Ikeda's trust. The team was also on the forefront of Shujin's sports teams and one with a potential for going to internationals.
Redshock: And Ryuji can do it, especially with his experience in street fights. Until the arrival of Suguru Kamoshida. Who ended up abusing the school's rules, peeping on the girls, and abusing the track team. And labeled Ryuji as a traitor, losing all respect his team had for him.
Mortician: And Ryuji did not like that too much at all and would try to expose that perverted king asshole. Until he met another charming individual struggling like him, Ren Amamiya, Akira Kurusu, or Joker.
Redshock: And upon seeing his new friend about to be slain before his very eyes. Something awoke in ryuji, and before anything. He felt a new power.
Mortician: Or a fancy Skull mask, and by removing it. Ryuji harnesses his very inner self to evoke his persona, or real inner self, Captain Kidd. Captain Kidd has incredible strength, speed, and an electric immunity. He can cast electrical spells like Zio, a powerful electric zap that can shock some enemies.
Redshock: And with moves like lunge. Captain Kidd is a physical like persona, and Ryuji can use other weapons like a spiked baseball bat, a club, a pipe, guns, grenades, and more.
Mortician: He can buff his persona’s strength up with Tarukaja, Blast out more powerful electric attacks with Zionga, enhance with shock status on stunning his enemies, and use all kinds of spells with different properties to help him. And If he gets serious enough. Ryuji and Captain Kidd can even attain a new evolved form of persona called Seiten Taisei.
Redshock: Since persona’s are manifested mental energy. All persona’s have their own strengths and weaknesses. And if they get hit. They become broken and unusable for 5 seconds or so, and ryuji is no different than others. It was only thanks to joker that ryuji managed to see what kamoshida was like.
Mortician: And so. Ryuji joined Joker to take down kamoshida. With his imaginary best friend and friends like a cat and anime protagonist.
Redshock: Ryuji did not only serve as a good friend to Joker. He managed to help Joker achieve a lot with his help along with the phantom thieves. By helping our bro get the social link of the chariot. Especially with a Sun Wukong persona, Seiten Taisei. Like we mentioned before. A persona can evolve similarly to a Pokémon and achieve greater levels of power.
Mortician: Seiten Taisei is a powered up persona similar in power to other powered up personas. And by harnessing electricity in blasts, a giant staff, evasion boosts, and more. Ryuji has the resume to match. By surviving a huge explosion from when he ran up the side of a huge building to set a raft down for his teammates.
Redshock: Which explodes in his face! By estimations of this huge building with fragmentation. Ryuji must have survived over 40 Gigatons of TNT, and he survived without a scratch.
Mortician: And while not directly comparable. Ryuji has managed to keep up with joker and another persona user like Akechi. Who can outrun a magnum, and persona’s can move even faster. Like Akechi who dodged literal light beams moving over 7 times faster than light.
Redshock: And Ryuji is just as strong as his friends. Especially when he survived Kamoshida’s Volleyball attack, which destroyed space around. And he finally even got to kick the shit out of the freak show that is shadow kamoshida. Allowing him to gain some respect back.
Mortician: Ryuji also managed to fight alongside other persona users. Especially those who are comparable to him, and even help joker stop other shadows. Like Madarame, Kaneshiro, Okumura, and so much more.
Redshock: Even across Tokyo. The phantom thieves were seen as troublemakers. But there are many factors to suggest ryuji is one of the strongest. And he proved to be on par with any of them, even earning a second place alongside Joker and his crew. Especially when Joker got some rizz to any girl like Ann, His teacher, Ms. Haru floof, Makoto, and so much more.
Mortician: Ryuji even managed to regain his image and trained Joker as well, and perhaps this. Ryuji learned that maybe someone like Joker is more like him. Seeking redemption for a crime he did not commit. What a good lad as always. Especially when Ryuji keeps on tracking along the field along with his pals.
Redshock: And although he can be stuck up and sometimes impulsive at times. He is definitely one of the strongest phantom thieves. Because you better watch out. Because the Skull is real, and his name is: Ryuji Sakamoto.
Ryuji: “I get it now... We're doin' this to make sure people don't gotta go through the same crap we did. It doesn't matter if they think we're just or not. We gotta do what we believe in!”.
Joey Wheeler[]
Mortician: The shadow games. A game of the best duelist can come from. Whether you’re a reincarnated sealed away pharaoh or a snobby rich kid seeking to be the best.
Redshock: Or even a blonde haired kid with a tragic past and a Boston accent, Joey Wheeler.
Mortician: Joey’s life was anything but stable. Born between a bitter divorce between his mother and father. Joey’s mother left taking his little sister along with her.
Redshock: Unfortunately for JoJo he was left with his alcoholic father. Joey’s life was pretty much tragic. He had to work and he even joined a gang and pretty much became right hand man to the leader in middle school.
Mortician: Joey was a bully until a point in high school when a weird card game kid Yugi Muto, whom he and his friend often picked on, stood up for them when a bigger bully was hurting them. Instead of hurting yugi anymore. Joey felt love at last, and he did not know what to think. He changed and became Yugi’s best friend and wanted to know more about his new friend.
Redshock: So instead yugi taught Joey how to play a card game?
Mortician: Hold your horses Red. This was a card game called “Duel Monsters” and it is an ancient card game made by the ancient Egyptians using actual gods, monsters, and by understanding how to play it. Joey became a master at it.
Redshock: He usually has cards available to him on the go and can access all of these incredible monsters by placing them on his duel disk, a piece of technology that allows a duelist to summon their monsters whenever and allows the monsters to become real. Huh sounds like another card game?
Mortician: Joey is one to utilize a Mixture deck with no discernible archetype. It usually consists of Warrior-Type monsters, possibly representing his strong fighting spirit. And while an amateur at first with not using much strategy. Joey eventually became a master strategist setting up stat boosting cards, barriers, brain control, healing, and more. Joey practically has it all.
Redshock: Joey eventually got a ton more cards with time wizards who control time, the flame swordsman who can harness flames, and the red eyes black dragon who can shoot out flames that can burn through anything, even spirits.
Mortician: Let’s just agree Joey is loaded and he carries a lot of cards and can even summon multiple monsters in his deck at once. Like the classic baby dragon, who’s Joey’s partner. Joey eventually left to become a great duelist along with his friends, including yugi.
Redshock: And Joey built up more and more. Especially with his deck, and with accessing more powerful cards like the thousand dragon, Tiger axe, and more. Joey even has spells to traps with Chasm of Spikes, Graverobber, and a Kunai with a Chain.
Mortician: But despite starting off as a beginner. Joey became more and more experienced later on. Like upgrading all of his strongest monsters, and believe us. Duel monsters can get batshit crazy. Especially when Joey has relied on every one of his monsters over time.
Redshock: Especially when he’s taken on duelist champions, to rivals and friends, and even a new lover in Mai Valentine. But in duel monsters. It’s very important for a duelist to use their mind and strategy to always seem to win, even against absolute power.
Mortician: And Joey is so big brained later on that he relied on tricking his opponents with traps to spells. Especially with time wizards and the red eyes black dragon, along with the thousand dragon.
Redshock: He’s so good that he was able to trick and even go head to head against Seto Kaiba, the same dude who’s Yugi's equal rival. And Joey is so hardcore that he can survive electrocution and keep on dueling, or even hurting Yumi Yugi, a being of literal unlimited magic in yugi.
Mortician: He survived a missile too, which compared to the explosion and output. Joey survived about 5 tons of TNT. Perhaps Joey’s greatest asset is his conviction to win, made even stronger when it comes to protecting his friends.
Redshock: And Joey got an even cooler monster. Because he got the Ten Thousand Dragon, a monster comparable to Exodia in a way. And when Exodia and Zorc battle they could have destroyed multiple dimensions from their battles alone.
Mortician: And Joey is powerful enough to be considered one of Pegasus’s top five duelists, making it up to number 3. Which means that Joey is on par with Yugi and Kaiba.
Redshock: Joey truly mastered the art of Duel Monsters for his friends, wife, son, and his best friend Yugi. If not for Yugi, Joey would not be here without the best friend he was happy to have.
Joey: “All right you monkey suit-wearing pencil pushers! Show yourselves so I can adjust your uptown attitudes! I know you weasels are watching, so come on out and duel! I’m not scared of your bald heads and outdated neckties, you old freaks! Got that”.
DEATHBATTLE![]
Prologue[]
At a Ramen restaurant Ryuji is enjoying a rice bowl, then Joey walks past him and looks at his deck. “Man… Kaiba is going down soon. Man, I'm so excited!”. Ryuji is startled and his bowl slips onto his jeans and burns his lap. Ryuji gets up and Joey looks at him. “What the hell man?!”. Ryuji grabs his collar and Ryuji and Joey look around to see that the place is empty and they are in the shadow world.
“Okay… I know this is the perfect place to kick your ass!”. Ryuji pushes him back and Joey grabs his cards and smiles. “Okay… let’s duel!”.
FIGHT![]
Joey places his Flame Swordsman who preps his blade and Ryuji is in shock. “For real?! A persona! I can do that too… CAPTAIN KIDD!!!”. Ryuji summons Captain kidd and Joey looks up in shock. “A duel monsta?!”. The flame swordsman dashes to captain Kidd who dodges its strike, then Ryuji runs in with his pipe and runs to Joey and he dodges it. “Hey! You can’t do that!”. Both collide arms, then Ryuji grabs Joey and throws him back. “Here’s my treat!”. Ryuji throws a grenade to Joey who looks up and pulls out a card and it explodes on him.
The smoke clears and Joey is guarded by a barrier and he holds up a card that creates a red circle on it that circles Joey. “Blast him away Captain Kidd!!!”. Captain Kidd flies up and sends a bolt down to the flame swordsman as it gets pushed back to Joey who’s jacket gets blown around behind him. Joey summons time wizard who resets the blast around and it hits Captain Kidd who blows away the smoke. Captain Kidd charges at both of the monsters and slashes at time wizard, then he collides with flame swordsman and Joey looks up at captain Kidd and shuffles his deck.
Joey then sees time wizard is on the ground and he summons Rocket warrior and jinzo and they head to captain Kidd who gets bombarded by energy blasts then he breaks and ryuji runs to them and brings out his grenade launcher and fires some rounds around the monsters and more explosions happen Joey who sees a blue flame emerge from the smoke and looks to see captain Kidd is back. “No way! I destroyed it!”. Ryuji smiles and Captain Kidd sends some more blasts to the monster's rapid fire, then they all collide at once and Captain Kidd pushes them back to the ground. “BLAST THEM ALL AWAY!!!”.
Captain Kidd charges up a lightning blast and he fires it to the monsters and joey runs back before the blast catches him and the blast engulfs the entire area and after the explosion Ryuji looks around the destroyed area for joey. “Where the hell is he?”. Ryuji looks behind him to see joey and he is bleeding from his forehead who smiles at him. “I PLACE THOUSAND DRAGON!!!”. Joey places it and the thousand dragon emerge behind him as a gold light and roar at Ryuji and the wind pushes his scarf behind him as he looks up at the thousand dragon charging up an energy blast. “FIRE!!!!”
The thousand dragon blasts it to ryuji who jumps on captain Kidd’s ship and captain Kidd blasts a purple energy blast behind him to the blast and Joey brings out another card and places it as it glows on his duel disk. “RED EYES BLACK DRAGON!!!”. Red eyes black dragon roars and fires an energy blast to ryuji as well that mixes with the thousand dragons blast. “CAPTAIN KIDD!!!”. Captain Kidd holds onto the energy blast with his hand. Then his eyes glow blue and Captain Kidd changes into Seiten Taisei. “WITNESS MY RESOLVE FOR MY FRIENDS!!!”. Ryuji and Seiten Taisei destroy the blast and they fly up and extends down his staff that grows to be larger than the mountains behind them and heads down to Joey who looks up
Joey then closes his eyes and he breathes and smiles as he thinks about his friends and sister. “Really?… you’re not the only one… WHO FIGHTS FOR THEIR FRIENDS!!!”. Joey preps his duel disk as the thousand dragon and red eyes black dragon look at the staff and both fire energy blasts against it pushing it a bit and Joey starts to glow gold. The staff slams down and Ryuji looks down to see the ground beneath them starting to spark up. The staff disintegrates bit by bit, then the ten thousand dragon appears above him and Joey is on the ground crawling up the crater.
“No more… no more of this…I am the greatest with the power of my ten thousand dragon”. Ryuji falls down as he looks up in fear with his eyes watering as ten thousand dragon blast a massive energy beam down to him and he looks up. The blast heads to Ryuji who looks up in fear with the blast reflecting in his eyes tearing up. The blast hits ryuji into a mountain and the blast destroys the mountains in the back and Joey looks at the distance to see the mountains on fire and he closes his eyes, then he opens his eyes and he is back in the Ramen Shop and he see’s ryuji’s mask on the ground destroyed and he steps on it. “Nobody beats me…”. As he smiles.
FINISH!/Results[]
Redshock: I bet we sailed past a fight that was pretty much a card game.
Mortician: This was pretty close surprisingly, and despite having very little feats to go off of. This was incredibly close, however. Joey just happened to have a better chance to strike down the skull more often.
Redshock: It was obvious that ryuji has better physical stats all around, especially with rivaling Haru Okumura’s strength and surviving an explosion worth over 44 Gigatons of TNT, which Joey has no way to compare to the 5 Ton missiles Joey survived, but Joey just had the brains to get a win.
Mortician: Even though persona’s do possess some variety of moves and powers. Joey’s broader arsenal and selection of magic and spells to use kept ryuji at bay, and while Joey was not going to beat ryuji physically. His broad tactics and spell cards allowed him to keep ryuji at bay.
Redshock: Ryuji may be a powerful and well balanced master of his persona, but Joey’s ability to project luck onto his side more than allowed him to use a counter force against Ryuji or Captain Kidd, and with his more variety of spells and monsters. Ryuji could not hang on forever, especially with options like the red eyes black dragons ability to burn away energy, a direct counter to Ryuji’s persona and spells.
Mortician: And while Ryuji's plethora of spells and electric attacks did help him keep up. It’s also important to know that Ryuji is far more incompetent at times, while Joey is more or less keeping his cool against any opponent. Even ones as superior as kaiba, and while ryuji has been known to fight well, even one on one. Joey’s own feats in duel monsters can allow him to keep a cool head against ryuji, especially when he later on was rivaling multiversal gods with his own.
Redshock: Joey had more than enough cards to throw at ryuji, then ryuji could even muster. Especially when it’s extremely likely that Ryuji could get overwhelmed on his own, while Joey has proven to handle more than one duelist on his own, which means that Ryuji can be very much outmatched by Joey’s sets of monsters.
Mortician: And that’s not counting all the ways Joey could win this. Like manipulating ryuji’s persona with brain control, shutting down his magic options, redirecting and stopping ryuji with time wizard, burning through ryuji with red eyes black dragon, and getting a one shot from a good old finale from ten thousand dragon. There was absolutely no way Ryuji could even get in close to finish this fight or was strong enough to keep up with Joey’s monsters and Haxes.
Redshock: Ryuji was never going to give up easily. But Joey’s superior versatility, power set, and strategic mind allowed him to completely overwhelm the skull phantom thief. I guess you could say that Ryuji was the skull and bones as Joey was the Wheeler.
Mortician: The Winner is Joey Wheeler!
