Description[]
“ | These two are more than just tools for evil gain. Which of their gifted powers will win this bout? | „ |
Interlude[]
(* Wiz & Boomstick - Brandon Yates*)
Wiz: What is our purpose in life? Few philosophical questions have been asked quite as much as this one. As people, we seek to know our place in the world and the part we play in the cogs of fate.
Boomstick: But for these two, they would forge their own path. Because they looked at the numbers they rolled and said "screw that shit".
Wiz: Roxas, Organisation XIII's Keyblade wielding pawn from Kingdom Hearts.
Boomstick: And Axl, the bounty hunter turned trusted teammate to Mega Man X. He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick!
Wiz: And it's our job to analyse their weapons, armour and skills to find out who would win a Death Battle!
Roxas Brings Light to Death Battle[]
(*Dearly Beloved - Kingdom Hearts 2*)
Wiz: Sora: The bearer of the Legendary Keyblade that brings balance to the light and the darkness.
Boomstick: And a dork almost as huge as his comically oversized shoes.
Wiz: For many years, he, alongside the help of many other Keyblade warriors, has helped to bring peace to worlds terrorised by the evils of the eldritch Heartless, and the vile Organisation XIII.
Boomstick: But little did he know, he may have had more to do with the latter than he initially thought, and without even knowing about it for the longest time.
Wiz: See, Organisation XIII's goal was to collect Hearts (basically, think of them like human souls), and feed them to Kingdom Hearts: the Heart of all worlds, in order to gain back their humanity.
Boomstick: Well... kinda. It's... complicated.
Pop-Up: The true goal of the Organisation was to create vessels for the Heart of Master Xehanort, the original body of Organisation XIII's leader Xemnas, so he may return to incite the Keyblade war, though the only members privy to this knowledge were Xemnas and Xigbar.
Wiz: Please... I've already looked ahead in the script... just don't make a drinking game out of how many times you're gonna say that.
Boomstick: Um... okay? Well anyways, there was one member there that was vital to this plan, as he wielded the very tool that would bring the Hearts to kingdom Hearts.
Wiz: And how this individual came to be is... rather odd.
Boomstick: Strap in, ladies and gents. So long story short, Sora was fighting his best friend Riku, who was possessed by this guy named Ansem, and he found out his other best friend Kairi's Heart was inside of him. So he STABBED HIMSELF IN THE CHEST with Riku's Keyblade to release Kairi's Heart from his body, killing him in the process! He then came back as a Heartless, walked up to Kairi and returned back to normal with a good ol' hug.
Wiz: Um... yeah, what he said. Well, this had a far greater snowball effect than he initially knew. See, when a person's Heart is removed from their body, they become a Heartless. However, should that person possess a strong will, their body can live on as a Nobody: a wandering, soulless vessel that like the Heartless, often take the form of bizarre monstrosities, but some manage to maintain their human appearance. As a result, when Sora became a Heartless, a Nobody was also formed.
Boomstick: And the organisation got their grubby hands on this Nobody, giving him his new name...
Roxas: Roxas.
Xemnas: That is right- the new you.
(*Night of Fate - Kingdom Hearts*)
Pop-Up: Despite being Sora's Nobody, Roxas' appearance is based off of a different Keyblade wielder- Ventus. This is due to a young Sora sharing his light with Ventus after his Heart was fragmented, thus forging a link between the two.
Wiz: Despite well... being born yesterday, Roxas quickly got shown the ropes and became a relied upon part of the Organisation: all thanks to his signature weapon, the Keyblade.
Boomstick: The Keyblade isn't just the most ineffective way of opening a door in history, but it's also a powerful blade that he can use to beat the shit out of his enemies.
Wiz: He can return it to his hand should he lose it, use it to release a person's Heart from their body or even channel magic spells through its body.
Boomstick: And while slicing Heartless up like a hot knife through butter may be the lazy man's primary use for the thing, it's that latter trait where the Keyblade truly shines.
Wiz: He can shoot powerful fireballs that even home in on target, create chilling blades of ice to pierce through his enemies, drown them in powerful watery torrents, smite them where they stand with deadly lightning, or even create powerful vortexes.
Boomstick: AKA: When you've just had enough of your job today and want to just massacre everything so you can get home quicker. Speaking of, Roxas would be of great use to the Organisation in their quest to gather Hearts, though they didn't make for the most hospitable of families. All save for two: the hothead Axel and the even newer recruit Xion.
Wiz: While Axel may have essentially been little more than Roxas' babysitter at first, the two quickly became the best of friends, and would often spend their breaks in between their day job watching the sun go down while eating ice cream, with Xion eventually joining in on the fun after opening up to the two.
Boomstick: While also sitting atop a giant ass clocktower that they could easily fall off of with a gentle breeze. Yeah they REALLY don't give a shit about safety here, huh?
Wiz: Roxas' skills aren't just limited to swinging an oversized key like a baseball bat though. Roxas is exceptionally nimble in combat, able to glide for midair combat, dash through the air, zip around the battlefield at light speed, or even scale a whole tower just by running up the side.
Boomstick: Do elevators just not exist in this world or something?
Wiz: I mean... if you can completely defy gravity, wouldn't you do it all the time?
Boomstick: Eh, fair point.
Wiz: It was with all of these that Roxas proved to be a damn effective part of the Organisation, but things back at home weren't quite so luxurious.
(*Vectors to the Heavens - Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days*)
Boomstick: Roxas began having all sorts of weird visions and even migraines, showing him the adventures of someone he didn't even know.
Wiz: That would be his other half, Sora, who after having his memories tampered with by the Nobody Naminé, was placed into a year long sleep so she could fix his memories. But unfortunately for Roxas, this ended up actually having an effect on him, causing him not only to experience the life of his second self up to that point, but making him question who he is and what the Organisation's true motives are.
Boomstick: And the Organisation weren't all too keen on giving him the answers he wanted. Even Axel had his lips shut, so Roxas eventually threw up his hands and said "screw it", and up and ran away.
Wiz: It was around this time that Xion also started to distance herself from the Organisation to find answers for herself, and the results weren't pretty.
Boomstick: Turns out, Xion was actually a clone of Roxas that the Organisation created as a fail-safe should Roxas fail, but her existence also had a knock-on effect on Sora. God, that poor kid must've had the worst identity crisis known to man.
Wiz: Many of Sora's memories went straight to Xion's head instead, which meant Sora wasn't recovering and thus, wouldn't wake up.
Boomstick: Though not like they really had to do anything about it because the Organisation already had a nasty plan for her. They wrangled her back and reprogrammed her so she would fight Roxas in order to absorb his powers and become the ultimate tool for them.
Pop-Up: Xion's own existence had a negative effect on Roxas as she had started to unknowingly sap his power, and if she were to continue living it would cost Roxas his life. Her supposed desire to absorb Roxas when they fought was merely a ruse to save Roxas from dying because of her by sacrificing herself, as well as an attempt to foil Xemnas' plans.
Wiz: Except Roxas ended up killing her in battle. But Xion didn't just die- memories of her very existence began to fade from the minds of everyone who ever encountered her.
Boomstick: *Stares horrified*... Jesus, I can't even make a joke about that. That's just depressing.
Pop-Up: The reasoning behind everyone forgetting Xion after her death is because she was made out of Sora's memories and as a result, when she died, so did the memories of her.
Wiz: It was from that day forward that the trio of friends were forever divided. Their days of sharing ice cream as they conversed about life and human activity were well behind them, as they now are forced to live without each other for the rest of thei-Boomstick, what are you doing?
Boomstick: Ah-wah?!... Oh sorry, I needed a drink... or two... *Picks up barrel of beer and starts chugging*.
Wiz: That doesn't seem very-
Boomstick: *Falls back in a drunken stupor with the barrel landing on his face*. A'm faan Wiis. De fluur ith rael cuuzi dein her.
Wiz: Safe.
(*Another Side - Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days*)
Boomstick: *Clears throat*. Well, anywho, as traumatic as that process must've been, Roxas at least got something good out of it.
Wiz: See, the Keyblade's shape and size is determined by the Keychain attached to it, which can also augment its strength and magical prowess, but after Xion's demise, Roxas gained not one, but two Keyblades he can wield simultaneously: Oathkeeper and Oblivion.
Pop-Up: Only those with the Synch Blade ability are capable of dual wielding Keyblades, which Roxas gained after Xion died.
Boomstick: With these two, not only does Roxas hit like a truck with the agility to match, but he can use them for all sorts of fancy sword techniques.
Wiz: He can create a cyclone of sword slashes with Dual Slash, fling both blades like a boomerang with Dual Arcanum, turn himself into a living buzzsaw with Hurricane Blast or slice foes to ribbons with Event Horizon.
Boomstick: But the real showstopper is his light magic. He can fire Spot Beams just by swinging his Keyblade, which he can use for ranged combat or even to surround himself in them for defense. Or he can just have them rain from the sky like a really pissed off god from above.
Wiz: But his greatest technique is Magic Hour, a barrage of holy energy orbs that home in on target for massive damage.
Boomstick: But it's not like he's a weakling without all these fancy doodads. He's quick enough to fly from Radiant Garden to the Keyblade Graveyard in just two seconds.
Wiz: That's impressive when you consider those two worlds exist in entirely different star systems. Using the world map from Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep to gauge the distance between them, Roxas would have needed to move over 66 million times the speed of light.
Boomstick: Holy hell! But that's not all. He's given Sora himself a run for his money, who fought a replicant of Xehanort that could move the freaking moon.
Wiz: To move the moon the distance shown in the shot, Xehanort would need to be exerting a force of around 107 yottatons of force.
Boomstick: Sora essentially beat the shit out of a dude who had the force of 2 quintillion Tsar Bombas at his fingertips. It's just a shame then that all that power comes at the cost of a really moody ass personality.
Wiz: To be fair to him, his whole "life" was essentially a lie up to that point but it is true. Roxas often lets his emotions get the better of him in a fight, and he's prone to outbursts when things look hopeless.
Riku: Why? Why do you have the Keyblade?
Roxas: Shut up!
Boomstick: But hey, at least he proved that there's far more to him than just being some pawn in the Organisation's scheme.
Wiz: Sadly, Roxas' fate would not be a kind one. He would eventually end up against Riku and would fall to him, eventually being trapped in a digital recreation of the town he and his former friends loved so much as Sora's recovery neared its completion.
Boomstick: He'd soon be reunited with Sora and would finally merge back with his other half, resigning himself to his fate as a Nobody: a wandering shell of his former self.
Wiz: ...Until they found him a vessel for his heart to be placed back into which incidentally caused zero side effects to Sora despite what had been previously established.
Boomstick: ...I'm sorry, WHAT?!
Wiz: It's Kingdom Hearts, Boomstick. You're better off not questioning it.
Roxas: Sora helped me find my way back here. To my friends.
Axl Alerts Death Battle[]
(*Cyber Peacock - Mega Man X4*)
Wiz: In the year 21xx, the world was frequently terrorised by a series of malevolent machines known as Mavericks. Whether through circumstance, a virus that affected their morality or... just being a prick, countless human and Reploid lives have been taken by their terroristic actions.
Boomstick: So to combat this, the Maverick Hunters were born: a group of peacekeeping robots tasked with putting a stop to these Mavericks through any means necessary.
Wiz: You may already know the most famous two: Mega Man X and Zero, but no trio is complete without a third member to join the cause
Boomstick: And little did they do that it would be a seemingly naive little twerp that they happened to pick up off the street.
Wiz: This would be none other than Axl.
Boomstick: Wait, like Roxas' best friend?
Wiz: Wha-no, not that one, that was Axel, with an 'e'.
Pop-Up: Axl's name is derived from the lead singer of Guns-N-Roses, Axl Rose, though ironically he isn't the only character to share this distinction as the Maverick Spike Rosered is referred to as Axle the Red in most English versions of Mega Man X5
Boomstick: Uh-huh... well, anyways. Nobody knows where Axl came from: not even Axl himself.
Wiz: What is known is that much of Axl's life was spent with Red Alert: a vigilante group that hunted Mavericks for a good price.
Boomstick: Problem was, Red Alert's actions weren't always so um... humane. They were willing to do anything to get the kill- legality be damned.
Wiz: While Axl went along with this at first, their actions continued to spiral into pure evil, making them no different than the Mavericks they hunted to Axl.
Boomstick: So he up and ran away from Red Alert, and he'd eventually encounter Zero himself... who cuffed him and took him in for questioning. Well, at least he ain't the reckless kind, that's for sure.
Wiz: While in the Maverick Hunters' custody, they would receive a message from Red Alert's leader... well, Red- who challenged them to take on the Mavericks Red Alert had taken captive in a game to decide who would take Axl under their wing.
Boomstick: Feeling rightfully responsible for this whole mess, Axl teamed up with Zero to take the Mavericks and Red Alert down.
Wiz: Boomstick, you really don't have any tact, do you? What was essentially this poor guy's family turned into a bunch of violent killers and you act like that's his fault.
Boomstick: Wiz, you've been working with me for how long now and this still surprises you?
Wiz: ...Yeah, you're right.
(*Boomer Kuwanger - Mega Man X*)
Boomstick: Well regardless, while he seemed like some idiot teenager at first, the Maverick Hunters were damn impressed with Axl's skills.
Wiz: Axl is an incredible marksman, using dual pistols to mow down enemies with rapid fire shots. He can also dash for extra speed, easily scale even the roughest of walls or hover in midair for a limited time.
Boomstick: But like his compatriots, where Axl's true arsenal lies is in the shit ton of weapons he gets from defeating Mavericks. Kinda like Kirby, if the mass genocide were slightly more justified.
Wiz: Um... yeah, right. He can create devastating cyclones with the Volt Tornado, or fire homing torpedoes with the Sniper Missile.
Boomstick: The Gaea Shield can block incoming attacks, while the Wind Cutter can slice any bastard chilling in the sky like they're made of jelly.
Wiz: The Plasma Gun creates a powerful short range wave of electricity to bypass defenses, the Ray Gun lets him pierce through enemies with a light speed laser, the Black Arrow can home in on incoming targets, the Ice Gatling lets him fire rapid fire ice shells that can freeze their target, and the Bound Blaster can reflect off of whatever surface it hits.
Boomstick: But if that's not enough, he's also got a literal fucking grenade launcher and flamethrower with the Blast Launcher and the Flame Burner. Ah, you gotta respect the classics.
Wiz: Though Axl's most unique weapon isn't a gun at all, but rather an innate ability Axl possesses that few other Reploids do: the A-Trans. With this, Axl can absorb the DNA of fallen Reploids in order to take their shape and properties.
Axl: Cause I can copy the shape and abilities of Reploids.
Boomstick: Wait, how the fuck does a robot have DNA? The hell's that doing there?
Wiz: It's... best you don't ask. Anyways, Axl can carry the DNA of defeated Mavericks to transform into them whenever he needs their powers.
Pop-Up: The Reploid Colonel Redips has also been shown to possess this same ability. However, the origins of how both attained it has never been explored.
(*Blaze Heatnix theme - Mega Man X6*)
Boomstick: He can tear foes apart as Wild Jango or Ninetails, create massive Tidal Waves as Silver Horn or bring the thunder with Depth Dragoon, fire energy attacks as Rafflesian, beat the shit out of his enemies with Incentas or just burn everything to the ground as Mach Jentra.
Wiz: He can also transform into bots that can throw boulders, easily soar through the skies, slice foes apart with a massive katana, fling bombs or even turn into a ball to roll around.
Boomstick: Man, that last one really lost the genetic lottery to end up with something that comparatively lame.
Wiz: Um, Boomstick... he's a robot.
Boomstick: Then how do you explain the DNA?
Wiz: I... I don't... ugh, the science on this one is just repulsive.
Boomstick: And you wonder why I just stick to guns and alcohol.
Wiz: Yeah... not like your brain can get fried any worse.
Boomstick: Hey!
Wiz: Well, it was with these powers that the Maverick Hunters would work their way through Red Alert's Mavericks and eventually uncover what had been going on behind the scenes.
Boomstick: Turns out, the team was being manipulated by X and Zero's long time nemesis Sigma, who tricked Red into feeding the other Red Alert members the DNA data that Axl absorbed, which just made them prime targets for the Sigma virus to turn them into Mavericks.
Pop-Up: Red had been meeting with Sigma, who had been under the guise of "the Professor" to discuss using the DNA Axl collected to grant the rest of Red Alert power-ups to make them stronger. In actuality, Sigma had been infecting each member with the Sigma Virus, slowly turning them into violent puppets to do his bidding.
Wiz: Red tried to let Axl off the hook to get away from their evergrowing evil deeds but through Sigma's blackmailing and his generals' corruption, his hand was forced to try and take Axl back so Sigma could further destroy the family he once knew.
Boomstick: Man... remember when this series was about a cute blue robot trying to stop some goofy baldheaded mad scientist. Cuz this shit is just depressing.
Wiz: Well as Red would soon discover, Axl was far stronger than the naive runt of the litter he seemed to be. Alongside the Maverick Hunters, they stopped not only Red but Sigma too, bringing an end to his evil antics once more- forging a stronger bond between his new family.
Boomstick: Family I'm surprised he wasn't tempted to try and prank by turning into them all the time.
Wiz: I mean... that would kinda require him to kill one of them.
Boomstick: Wiz, how many times has Zero alone been brought back from the dead? That shit's just a mild inconvenience to these guys.
Wiz: Eh, I suppose.
Boomstick: Yeah, if only humans worked like that. Like you could just strap them to a chair and use them as a test dummy for a big explosion without having to worry about all that "murder" and "illegal" business.
Wiz: That's... awfully suspicious.
Boomstick: Um... shit, I spoke too much, uhhhhhhhhhh- Wiz look, someone's tampering with your new robot!
Wiz: Wait, what?! *Hurriedly runs off screen while tiredly panting*
Boomstick: Wooo, that was close.
(*Lumine 2nd Form - Mega Man X8*)
Boomstick: Well anyways, Axl doesn't just like to plagiarise other bots' forms, because he's packing some neat super forms of his own.
Wiz: As White Axl, he can hover in the air indefinitely without ever running out of gas, while also being able to dash around at even higher speeds. But even more impressive is Stealth Mode, which increases his power by 100% at the cost of some speed, while also making him invulnerable to most attacks.
Boomstick: Not like that was even needed when he becomes invisible too, so not even being able to hurt him with a lucky shot is just insult to injury.
Wiz: With all of these at his disposal, it's no wonder he quickly got to work to become an hunter even X and Zero would be proud to call their partner.
Boomstick: He could keep up with the likes of the lightning shooting Gigabolt Man-O-War or the light speed attacks of Optic Sunflower. But that's hardly as impressive as it gets.
Wiz: X era Reploids like Axl are far more advanced than anything from the Classic era. This includes bots like the light speed Quick Man, or even Duo, who could fly between Saturn and Earth in just about half a minute, putting him at around 190 times the speed of light. To put that into perspective, the real life MESSENGER SPACECRAFT would take approximately 7 years to make the same trip, and Duo did it in no time flat.
Boomstick: But that's not all. He could also take Sigma on in battle and hold his own. The same Sigma that kicked the shit out of X and Zero in some of their previous scuffles throughout the years.
Wiz: Pretty impressive, considering both X and Zero were able to contend with the General, who's body was able to block a laser capable of destroying the Earth. To pull this off, you would need a power output equivalent to the gravitational binding energy of Earth, which comes out to over 63 zettatons of TNT, or over 63 sextillion tons.
Pop-Up: As seen in Ultron vs Sigma.
Boomstick: And that was when X was far weaker than where he is now, so Axl can definitely compete with that kind of power with where he's at now.
Pop-Up: While the planet busting beam did kill the General, this was after he had already sustained heavy damage and his body had been torn to shreds, and he was still successful in preventing the laser from going off. This means he could almost certainly survive the laser at his max strength.
Wiz: The only problem with all of this is that a lot of Axl's power comes at the cost of extremely limited ammunition. Not only can he only maintain his transformations for so long, he's prone to running out of ammo for his multitude of weapons in a hairy situation.
Boomstick: And there's also the problem that he's a huge dork.
Wiz: Well, more specifically, Axl tends to be extremely hotheaded and not all too bright. That and he often feels lacking compared to the other hunters, which can sometimes lead to him making rash decisions to prove his metal.
Boomstick: But it's not like that's been enough to stop him... well except for maybe when this bot named Lumine broke the gem on his forehead and left him comatose... and we never heard from him ever again.
Wiz: Well, luckily for him, he's still up and at them a century in the future... so he was probably fine.
Boomstick: Well regardless, those Mavericks better be ready, because this up-and-comer is anything but a pushover.
Axl: Hehe, pretty cool, huh? You've got to give me some credit.
Ad Break[]
Wiz: Alright, the combatants are set, and we've run the data through all possibilities!
Boomstick: But first, why go hunting for hearts when you can warm your own with a meal from today's sponsor, Blue Apron!
(Blue Apron Ad)
Boomstick: But right now, it's time for a Death Battle!
Fight[]
The camera pans over Station Heights in Twilight Town, showing off the tower that can be seen from anywhere in town. The camera shifts to the top of the tower, before panning down and reaching the bottom to show a hooded figure standing at the entrance to the station beneath, who is looking up at the clock at the top. Suddenly, he sees a light blue light come down from above, landing on the spot a certain group of friends used to hang out. We see that from this light, Axl emerges, flipping his own guns in his hands in a moment of confidence.
Axl: This is Axl, reporting to mission control!
As Axl shouts this, he suddenly looks down at the ground many meters beneath him to see this hooded figure staring back at him, his gaze shrouded in the darkness his hood is casting upon his face.
Axl: Heh, well at least they're saving me the trouble of looking for them.
With a single leap, the hooded figure jumps atop the overhang to the station and begins dashing up the side of the building. Axl follows suit, leaping headfirst off and firing wildly at his faceless foe, who summons forth the Kingdom Key Keyblade to deflect each incoming attack. The two meet in the middle, a slow-mo shot having both stare into each other's eyes: Axl's overconfident gaze meeting Roxas' unhappy expression, as Axl continues to fall and Roxas continues to ascend. Axl lands on the overhang with a roll before leaping back to the ground unscathed, at the same time Roxas reaches the top- turning around to stare Axl down now, who turns around to taunt his opponent.
Axl: Got anything to say, Maverick? Or should we just cut to the chase.
The hooded figure eventually removes their hood to reveal their face: Roxas, who looks back down at Axl from atop the tower. He doesn't say a word, and instead leaps down to face him. Axl begins firing as he decends, with Roxas spinning the Keyblade in his hand to deflect the shots before eventually hitting the ground. Without missing a beat, he bolts towards Axl, a blinding white light surrounding him as he charges forward in between the rapid fire shots from Axl's gun. Within no time flat, he approaches Axl with a downward slash, which Axl blocks with the gun he hadn't been firing from.
Roxas: What do you want with me?
Roxas starts pushing forward against Axl with his Keyblade, but Axl proves to be unwavering.
Axl: I'm a Maverick Hunter kid. It's my job to wrangle your kind back in.
Roxas feels something being pressed against his torso. He looks down to see Axl's other gun, but rather than his normal pistol, he has the Plasma Gun in his hand. Before Roxas can do anything, Axl pulls the trigger and sends a thousand volts through Roxas' body, stunning him and leaving him wide open. With a single bicycle kick, Axl sends Roxas flying, before rocketing into the air to give chase to his target. Axl activates the A-Trans, transforming him into a Mushadroyd. His new towering Shogun body reaches Roxas in the air, delivering a downward slash that sends the still stunned Nobody face-first into the ground beneath. Roxas gets up nearly concussed but he has little time to complain as the massive armoured body comes careening towards him. He blocks his next sword slash as Axl hits the ground, now putting him on the defensive as a stereotypical samurai accent, far removed from how the normal Axl sounds but with all the sass and overconfidence he had before, comes out of the Mushadroyd's mouth.
Axl: What's wrong, little man?
He begins to slowly walk forward, pushing Roxas back as he tries to not let his guard slip.
Axl: And I thought you'd have been made from tougher meta-
Axl isn't able to finish his sentence before Roxas goes in for one big push with his Keyblade and sends the Mushadroyd's sword flying out of his hand. Staggered from the disarming, Axl is left wide open as Roxas begins whacking away at him, pulling off an elaborate combo against the behemoth that ends in him getting knocked several meters through the air and falling flat on his back.
Roxas: I'm not going back with anyone! You hear me!
Roxas wastes no time, pointing the Keyblade in Axl's direction and firing off a wave of freezing air and ice with Blizzaga. Axl reverts back to his normal state, allowing him to get back up easily with his regained freedom of movement and equip the Flame Burner: launching a fiery barrage from the flamethrower that stalemates the freezing cold. Axl realises this strategy isn't working and instead stops firing and dashes around the attack, activating the A-Trans again to transform into Wild Jango. Without a second to react, Roxas is struck by Jango's massive claw and sent flying in the tower's direction. Luckily for him, a pillar is in his trajectory so without a minute to think twice, he uses his weapon to catch onto and spin along the pillar- building up momentum and eventually launching himself towards Axl, who charges straight at him at blinding speed in Wild Jango's shape. The two ram into each other with enough force to create a shockwave, pushing the two back from the force of their collision. Axl reverts back and using his hover, decides to take to the skies, which Roxas follows suit with his glide.
The two stare each other down mid-air before vanishing in the blink of an eye- blitzing around the battlefield with the only thing visible being the shockwaves created from each clash. They clash once more, this time stopping to try and overpower the other instead of jumping back faster than the eye can see. They push off of each other as Axl equips the Ice Gattling and begins firing rapid fire ice shells at Roxas, who responds in kind by firing Fire spells from the Keyblade as he glides around the battlefield. The two dart around continually dodging the other's attacks, until Axl's hover begins to run out of gas and he starts to descend.
Axl: Ah crap.
As soon as his guard is down, Roxas flies towards him at light speed and a single strike from his Keyblade sends Axl flying into the tower behind him. He goes flying through a wall and lands on his feet ready to fly back out, but turns around to see two Mavericks behind him playing card games- a Flyer and a Ruinsman, who just stare at him confusedly.
Ruinsman: Um... hi-
The camera quickly cuts to outside the tower, where an explosion can be seen from the hole in the wall Roxas left. The Flyer can be seen flying straight through the ceiling at the top of the tower, firing three shots in Roxas' direction before transforming into the Ruinsman to throw a boulder twice his size. Roxas blocks each shot and without missing a beat, slices the boulder in two. Without a moment to waste, Roxas flies towards his newly emerged target at high speeds. Right as the Ruinsman lands back atop the floor of the top of the tower, he leaps into the air and transforms into Incentas, aiming a punch straight at the floor just as Roxas reaches him, before launching the attack right on top of the Keyblade wielder. Roxas gets slammed into the floor, giving Incentas the opportunity to wail on him with multiple heavy punches. Eventually he picks the dazed Nobody up and flings him off the tower like a basketball, though Roxas is able to catch himself and use his glide to stay in the air. Incentas reverts back to Axl, who is then surrounded by a white glow. Within a second, the glow ends and White Axl takes his place, who uses his new unlimited hover to fly towards Roxas. The two stare each other down from several meters away, before simultaneously raising their weapons toward the sky.
Roxas: Aeroga!
Axl: Volt Tornado!
From the tips of both of their weapons emerges a small ball of rapidly moving wind, which both quickly begin to grow and grow, turning into two enormous cyclones that start by clashing against each other, before merging into a tornado twice the size. The tower can be seen slowly crumbling apart from the force of the tornado's pull, being reduced to nothing but rubble caught in the hurricane's grip. From inside the tornado, Roxas is running along the debris, trying to dodge the homing shots from his Black Arrow. He keeps Axl on the run too by using Thundaga to send lightning careening into the center of the tornado to strike him down, which Axl darts around as he continues to fire at Roxas. Axl eventually lands on a large piece of debris, activating the A-Trans once more to turn into Rafflesian, taunting his opponent in his newly effeminate voice before launching the next assault.
Axl: Eat this, freak!
Rafflesian raises her staff, an orange glow emanating from the tip that eventually bursts out into a wave of energy projectiles that quickly home in on Roxas. Roxas responds by raising his Keyblade up, creating an enormous fireball with Firaga that he flings straight for Rafflesian, barreling through each of the projectiles. She quickly reverts back to Axl, who grabs out the Blast Launcher and fires a series of grenades straight at the incoming fireball without a second to spare. The resulting explosion completely disperses the tornado and sends all the debris flying in every direction. Both are back to square one, still in the air on each other's level, but Roxas feels something amiss. Turning around, he sees his once favourite hangout spot has been completely decimated, leaving him totally devastated.
Roxas: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
Axl now fully realising the gravity of the damage they caused around them, aims his gun straight for Roxas once more, his cocky smile completely wiped from his face.
Axl: Alright pal, I'm ending this now.
Before Axl could even think about pulling the trigger, Roxas grabs his hood and yanks it back over his face. The Kingdom Key vanishes from his hand, and two different Keyblades take its place: Oathkeeper and Oblivion. Rage filling his body, Roxas charges straight at the Maverick Hunter and before he could react to the oncoming attack, Axl is struck by Roxas' Keyblades and sent flying. The camera shows an extreme long shot of Twilight Town, with the only part of the two combatants' fight being visible being the shockwaves from each of Roxas' blows and Axl being flung around at supersonic speeds from each hit. The camera cuts back to Axl, who uses the A-Trans once more to transform into Ninetails. He blocks Roxas' sword slash with his arm and in no time at all, they begin slashing away at each other at blinding speeds- Roxas' Keyblades clashing against each of the copied Maverick's nine tails. They don't let up on the continual assault for several seconds, before both rev back and fly towards each other for a decisive blow. Nothing happens at first following their finishing attack, but a loud cutting sound can be heard as Ninetails' tails are all sliced clean off, forcing the now defenseless bot to transform back into Axl. Roxas does a flip in the air, as a blinding light escapes his body and pierces the heavens itself, accompanied by his screams.
Roxas: GyaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
Seconds later, lights start showering from above. Axl is forced to weave in and out of them but luckily, he still has a trump card. His body begins to glow once more and he soon turns completely invisible. Roxas' light attacks annihilate the surrounding area but seemingly none of them hit his target. As soon as the attack has abated, he notices Axl has disappeared.
Roxas: Wait... where'd he go?
He suddenly gets struck from behind, but as he slashes behind him, no-one seems to be there. He gets hit again and same as last time, no-one's there. He then gets hit multiple times by what looked to him like nothing, with the last hit sending him even further into the sky. Axl equips the Sniper Missile and fires several shots to go after Roxas, who responds in kind after recovering from the last hit by creating a shield around him with his Spot Beams. The Missiles connect with the beams and explode, but before Axl can even think he's done, the Spot Beams are fired in every direction, one hitting him but doing no damage. Roxas still sees an invisible figure being hit by the beam though and flies straight down to hit him. Charging into Axl, he pushes him back with the Keyblades but Axl doesn't take any damage from the attack. Without even noticing, Roxas' unseeable foe equips the Explosion and points it straight at Roxas' face. The camera cuts back to another extreme long shot, as a massive explosion can be seen that sends Roxas flying. Cutting back to him, he's visibly exhausted from the attack, but raises Oathkeeper weakly above his head and casts Curaga.
Roxas: H-heal.
He's now back to full strength, but he has no time to rest. Axl gets the Ray Gun out just as Stealth Mode begins to wear off and fires an enormous laser straight for Roxas. Roxas sees the incoming attack and flies upward and with a swing of both Keyblades, he sends two Spot Beams flying Axl's way in a pincer formation. Axl notices them coming too late, as they strike and take both his arms and legs with them.
Axl: GYAAAACK!!!
Roxas then uses Magic Hour- several Spot Beams rapidly spinning around him as a barrage of energy orbs fly from over his head in Axl's direction, striking the now defenseless Reploid and burning away at what remains of him. Without a second to lose, Roxas charges forward at the large mass of energy Axl was now encased in.
Roxas: You're finished!
The screen for a split second fades to black as his sword slash connects. Roxas can be seen momentarily flying away from the energy mass, as the enormous slash Roxas hit it with starts to become visible and each half starts moving away from each other. The energy mass then creates an enormous explosion, taking Axl with it and leaving Roxas victorious. He floats there mid-air, not even turning around as what remained of Axl fell to the ground beneath, but instead pondering the situation and feeling nothing but sorrow and anger as he stares at the ruins they left.
Roxas: You're nobody.
As he says this, he's enveloped in a dark aura, disappearing into it as the dark aura abates and leaving the battlefield once and for all.

Announcer: K.O.!!!
Boomstick: Anyone else love the irony he just killed a guy with the same name as his best friend?
Wiz: Both combatants certainly brought their A-game to this fight, and it wasn't like Axl didn't have his fair share of advantages.
Boomstick: He was definitely more experienced than Roxas. Not only has he been in the game longer than the measly year or so Roxas has been with the Organisation, but he's fought a far wider range of enemies that covered a lot of what Roxas had, so Axl wasn't gonna be taken by surprise by much of Roxas' arsenal. Plus, his variety of guns, transformations and other tools was far more expansive than Roxas' arsenal.
Wiz: Unfortunately, none of that really mattered when Roxas took the most tangible advantages in this fight.
Boomstick: Axl can scale to Duo, who flew between planets in just half a minute. But Roxas cleared a distance between entire star systems in a fifteenth of even that time, so there's no question he was way faster.
Pop-Up: Zero has kept up with Reploids empowered by the Dark Elf, who was able to eradicate the Sigma Virus across the entire planet in an instant- a feat that puts it at almost 1 billion times light speed, or over 15 times faster than Roxas. However, Zero did this in a far more advanced body a century ahead of the X era. Since Axl has never been seen in the Zero era, he shouldn't realistically scale to that era's version of Zero.
Wiz: And frankly, versatility didn't automatically make Axl's arsenal more useful than Roxas', as his defensive abilities thanks to the like of Aero and Cure made it tough for Axl to wear him down, while Roxas' homing spells gave Axl trouble dodging his repeated assaults.
Boomstick: But the real question still remains: which one can sock the other in the jaw harder?
Wiz: Going off of their previously mentioned feats, Roxas would appear to have the upper hand in that field, but there's far more to dissect through analysing their fallen foes.
Boomstick: Axl once fought this bot named Lumine, who in their fight destroyed a freaking sun.
Wiz: Taking the distance Lumine was from the sun into account, as well as the gravitational binding energy of our own sun, Lumine would need to be outputting a force equivalent to 1,200 foe to pull this off.
Boomstick: What's a foe, you might ask? Oh not much. Just the force of a f**king SUPERNOVA!!!
Wiz: So with this in mind, Axl could compete with a Maverick who possessed the force of over a thousand supernovas.
Boomstick: That's way more than anything Roxas has done, right?
Wiz: Well, no. Remember, Roxas could equal his other half Sora in combat, and Sora has even had to rely upon Roxas in combat in the past, so it's far from unlikely the two are on similar footing. With this in mind, we can compare Roxas to Data-Sora- a digital recreation of Sora tasked with exploring the Datascape.
Boomstick: And the Datascape isn't just some random web browser. It's a whole universe, made up of the many worlds that regular Sora had visited before, and Sora's Heartless was able to absorb enough power from within this world to destroy it in its entirety. And not only was Data-Sora able to defeat this Heartless, but a Data version of Roxas managed to put up a good fight against him after conquering this threat.
Wiz: According to a NASA astrophysicist, the total mass energy of the entire known universe would be in the ballpark of around 4 duovigintillion joules of energy.
Pop-Up: As seen in Ben 10 vs Green Lantern.
Boomstick: That's 69 zeros, bitches... hehe.
Wiz: Converting that into foe, that would put Roxas' damage output at around 4 octillion foe.
Boomstick: Yeah that's um... quite a bit above the just over a thousand from Lumine destroying the sun.
Wiz: While Axl was certainly a worthy member of the Maverick Hunters, Roxas' blinding speed, unwavering defense and incredible power were enough to win this bout.
Boomstick: Poor Axl got his socks Roxed off and ultimately stood Zero chance.
Wiz: The winner is Roxas.
Additional Notes[]
The connections between Roxas and Axl are that both are inhuman humanoids (a Nobody and a Reploid respectively) who wield a unique power that the teams they’ve worked with since their creation (Organisation XIII and Red Alert respectively) sought to use to carry out their plans (the Keyblade and the Copy Chip respectively). Both characters would soon desert their former team due to their inhumane actions, with their former friends being forced to try and wrangle them back against their will and dying in the process, sorrowful at what they had done (Xion being reprogrammed to try and merge with Roxas to form a version of Sora the organisation could then use to collect hearts again while Red was blackmailed into retrieving Axl back so he could collect more DNA data to further corrupt Red Alert). Both of their former teams were manipulated by a bald-headed puppetmaster who continually returns from the dead to pester their series’s main characters (Xehanort and Sigma respectively). Both would soon find a happier life with new friends that would ultimately end in supposed tragedy (Roxas being merged back with Sora after being trapped in a fake Twilight Town by Ansem and Axl being knocked comatose by Lumine), though both would later be revived (Roxas being brought back in Kingdom Hearts 3 and while Axl's fate is unknown, he's still around in Command Mission which is set about a century in the future). Both would also find another person they worked alongside with their same ability, both of whom would also fight against them by the end of their stories (Xion and Redips respectively). They also house a similar fighting style to their series’s main characters (Sora and X respectively, although only in X7’s case for the latter), both share a similarly naive personality and were shown the ropes by a red teammate that would soon become a relied upon partner for them (Axel and Zero respectively).
