Description[]
Dragon Ball vs Fate/Grand Order. The immortal perverse mentors too two legendary heroes are ready to go head to head in the battle of the Kame Sensei and the Queen of Shadows.
Interlude[]
Insert Music - Invader (Jim Johnston)
Sharaku: Every hero needs a mentor, someone to guide them down the path of the righteous warrior and to pass on their greatest technique, ensuring them an immortal legacy as their abilities are passed through the generations.
MegaSonic: Or, you can just become immortal and keep teaching students anyways.
Sharaku: Master Roshi, the Turtle Hermit Master and mentor to Son Goku.
MegaSonic: Scathach, the Queen of the Land of Shadows and teacher to Cú Chulainn.
Sharaku: I’m Sharaku Jr and he’s MegaSonicZX.
MegaSonic: And it’s our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win a DEATH BATTLE!
Master Roshi[]
Sharaku: Age is a virtue. Someone who has spent their life living themselves to the fullest has plenty of wisdom to share. With age comes strength and intelligence; and no one emphasizes those qualities in Dragon Ball more than Kame-Sennin, otherwise known as Master Roshi.
MegaSonic: Master Roshi may look old, but this 300 year old man could certainly kick your ass. Years ago, he climb Korrin’s tower and trained with a the tiny cat in the arts of martial arts, and trained with Master Mutaito to truly hone his prowess, fighting evil beings such as King Piccolo and his demonic spawn. Over hundreds of years he developed several special techniques and trained two pupils of his own, a kind man named Gohan and the Ox-King, before finally settling down on a nice little island with a Turtle to finally retire and live in peace…until everyone’s favorite Saiyan Goku came a-knocking at his door that is!
Sharaku: At this point, Goku was still a kid, and was looking for the Dragon Balls alongside his new friend, Bulma. After running into Roshi a few times, Goku was super impressed by the old guy’s special techniques and power. Thus, Roshi took Goku, and another eager young warrior, Krillin, underneath his wing, training them to be the next generation of master martial artists.
MegaSonic: And having thrown them through their first round of training, what did he do to show them how much more there was to grow? Beat em’ in a tournament! Yeah, remember the time Roshi beat Goku? I do. Like we said, Roshi may look old, but the dude’s crazy strong. Not only is he a martial artist master, he’s developed some tricky abilities. He can move fast enough to create after-images, he also weaponized rock-paper-scissors. That…that’s just weird…I mean not the scissors one I guess, you could probably poke someone’s eye’s out with that one.
Sharaku: He’s also pretty proficient in using electricity with his Thunder Shock Surprise, which was actually able to restrain Goku… until he turned into a gigantic monkey, that is. He’s mastered the infamous Drunken Fist, become efficient in using hypnosis, and he can create small air shockwaves with the Kiai. There’s also the Turtle Orb, a small sphere of energy that he can re-direct.
MegaSonic: He does that through use of Ki, the spiritual life-force of the Dragon Ball world. Ki can be used to bolster one’s physical state, making Roshi tougher and his punches harder. He can also use Ki for telepathy, small energy blasts, sensing others energy, and the aforementioned Thunder Shock Surprise and Turtle Orb. And of course, his most famous technique, the one and old Kamehameha, a technique so legendary and powerful, it took him fifty years to develop! And then Goku over here stole it in like, five seconds, the bastard.
Sharaku: His most “deadly” move however, is the Mafuba, otherwise known as the Evil Containment Wave. It’s a massive energy vortex that can seal away foes into small containers, provided it has a special seal attached to it or engraved in it. Despite its name, it can actually seal any matter of being away, not just evil things. Only thing though: it does a real number on his body and drains him of quite a bit of energy. In fact, he actually died from using it the first time around when he failed to seal away King Piccolo, who by the way, had returned.
MegaSonic: It’s okay, Goku handled it. And that’s what really showed Roshi how far his student’s would go, taking his teacher’s forwards into the battles against the galactic tyrant Freeza or the monstrous Majin Buu. Roshi would watch as his own lessons were what saved the universe time and time again. Of course, the ol’ Turtle hermit would still step in from time to time, just to remind his pupils there’s always another lesson to be learnt.
Sharaku: Such as the time he fought off waves of alien soldiers one after one to protect the planet from Freeza, who had come back after his resurrection.
MegaSonic: How strong were those guys? Well they were stronger than Raditz, and Raditz was roughly equal to Piccolo when he destroyed the moon. SHIT, Roshi blew up the Moon himself, a feat taking 30 Exatons to TNT to perform!
Sharaku: Not to mention that the speed of the Kamehameha itself is well into sub-relativistic speeds! That’s approaching lightspeed stuff! And he did that shit after being worn down after a fight with Goku!
MegaSonic: By Dragon Ball Super, Roshi was fast enough that was was even able to briefly harness the principles of Ultra Instinct itself, allowing him to seamlessly dodge attacks from FUCKING JIREN for a moment, because yeah! That made sense!
Sharaku: Okay, while that itself is kind of wack, and while he didn’t really do much damage to the Area 51 native, this is actually kind of consistent in the manga somehow? During the Moro Saga in the manga, he blindfolded himself against three of Moro’s underlings - who were girls - ‘cause the dude couldn’t focus otherwise, and somehow… managed a bit more of Ultra Instinct-like movement. He was kicking their asses too! Until they merged into one large ugly girl…
MegaSonic: Yeah, that’s Roshi’s one real weakness. He cannot for the life of him turn off his horny. Really gotta send the old man to horny jail huh? Well, aside from that, Roshi’s ki is finite, and using too much energy will drain him until he’s too tired, and can even kill him. Also, unlike Goku and Krillin, he never picked up on how to fly…like seriously, why didn’t he? Tien absolutely would’ve taught him if he just asked.
Sharaku: Yeah, his immortality not extending to actual battle and only working as a defense against old age is a pretty major point, in both his weaknesses… and ultimately, his strengths. As at the end of the day, it’s only because Roshi was able to live this long to go on to teach the youngsters of the future. In a way, his teachings have built the foundation to save all life on Earth, and even further beyond. And that’s something worth living for.
Roshi: “Always remember these words: Work hard, study well, and eat and sleep plenty! That is the Turtle Hermit way! We must master the art of peace in addition to the art of war! The Turtle Hermit School will be with you... always!"
Scathach[]
MegaSonic: Cú Chulainn, Ireland's Child of Light and renowned hero. A warrior who could single handedly slay entire armies and fight on par with legendary mythological figures like King Arthur, Gilgamesh, and Heracles.
Sharaku: I bet you're wondering, "Who the hell could teach the guy who's basically Irish Hercules"? Well, her name is Scathach.
MegaSonic: Little is known about the origins of Scathach, but what we do know is one thing; she was raised through the art of warfare. A prodigy in spearmanship and magecraft, Scathach spent her entire life in an endless cycle of battle, fighting, killing, honing her skills to the point she could be considered one of, if not the more dangerous mortal beings in the entire Nasuverse, eventually reaching the point where she became so powerful she transcended her mortality and became part divine spirit.
Sharaku: Bit of a cursed fate if you ask me, since it means she became isolated to her Kingdom, the Land of Shadows, unable to return to the mortal world and only able to interact with the people who manage to find their way there, like the aforementioned Cú Chulainn when he became her pupil.
MegaSonic: And just looking at Cú's skills alone truly makes Scathach seem terrifying. After all, Cú is able to fight against Artoria Pendragon at near light speeds and endure half a day's battle against Gilgamesh as a Lancer Servant. Cú's Caster Class incarnation meanwhile, nearly won an entire Holy Grail War all by himself, when every other Servant had been corrupted, and he was even able to put down Saber Alter with his Rune Magecraft. Cú himself has even said Scathach's own skills put his own to shame.
Sharaku: And I mean…he's not wrong either. Scathach is renowned for her ability to kill gods, and she's definitely packing the skills to do so. Her versatile and deadly Rune magecraft is powered by her body’s internal energy known as Mana, and lets her control fire and ice, create shields, cut off opponents' escape, and even reinforce her physical body using her mana, something that definitely comes in handy given her lack of armor.
MegaSonic: Fun fact, there's actual recorded evidence that real life celts would go into battle and even fight buck naked, and the Fate incarnations of Cú Chulainn and Scathach's skin-tight bodysuits are based on this.
Sharaku: Well, you learn something new every day.
MegaSonic: Let’s not kid ourselves though, Scathach’s most famed technique is her mighty crimson spear of death, the famous Gae Bolg. This spear, enchanted with death itself, is powerful enough to rewrite causality when cast. The act of piercing the heart of its target happens before the spear itself is thrown, or kicked, and afterwards the spear will bend around any sort of obstacles in its way to ensure a deadly blow. And once Gae Bolg is cast, it always hit’s the heart…you know, unless you have a high instinct and luck stat…or you get your heart crushed before you can cast it.
Sharaku: That’s what saved Artoria from being murked immediately at the start of the Holy Grail War. But more often than not, the spear will do its job and instantly kill whoever it pierces.
MegaSonic: And unlike her E-Rank’d luck pupil, Scatach is able to create an endless number of Gae Blogs to wield when needed, and can even use them as projectiles. By supercharging a one with mana, she can even throw it with enough force to become a missile that could level an entire army, or induce paralysis to bind an opponent in their tracks. Her ultimate attack however, sees her summon the Gate of Skye, a magical portal that leads to her Kingdom, the land of the dead. If you get sucked into the Gate of Skye…you die. That’s it. Your body is destroyed and your soul is left to wander the Land of Shadows for eternity. And if by some miracle you do survive it, it leaves you drained of practically all your mana. Oh, and she can fly. Just…just because she can.
Sharaku: All of these abilities would come in handy when all of human history was incinerated. Yeah, track how that works.
MegaSonic: Actually- *Ahem* -Human history was incarcerated by the actions of the Demon God Goetia, who was posing as his father Solomon, the King of Magecraft. By setting himself and the other Demon Pillars up in a temple outside of time, Goeita sent seven cursed Holy Grails in 7 pivotal points of human history. These grails then activated, falling into the hands of corrupt individuals who used their power to disrupt the flow of history, causing all of human history to be literally incarcerated. This freed Scathach from her immortal prison, allowing her to manifest as a Heroic Spirirt in a fucked up north America where Queen Medb and her edgy oc husband Cú Chulainn Alter killed Gorge Washington and raised a Celtic Army to take over America before it was formed while fighting against Thomas Edison who fused with the spirits of every President of the United States ever…and had a lion head.
Sharaku: I have no idea what the fuck you just said but I can also tell that you somehow weren’t lying during all of that. Why did this massive lore dump involving all of human history and all space and time go into a funny mobile game instead of like… I dunno, an anime?
MegaSonic: Blame the mushroom man Sharaku. Blame the mushroom man. Back to what’s actually important though, during her time in this Singularity Scathach was able to casually deflect a fully powered arrow from the Archer Servant Arjuna. And I do mean full power, Arjuna explicitly states he used his full power with that arrow, and she explicitly states that his attack was easy to block, and Cu Alter also states Arjuna was no match for Scathach. Arjuna is strong enough to match his eternal rival, Karna, who can match gods capable of destroying planets like Ishtar.
Sharaku: Yeah, you know how every Servant in Fate has their own special Noble Phantasm? Ishtar just kinda… makes one, converts it into mana, and lets it fucking rip. Well if that doesn’t do it. And yeah, these are the kinds of people she fights on the regular and has surpassed in many regards.
MegaSonic: In fact, aside from having a limited supply of mana, Scathach has no real weaknesses. Even having 90% of her internal organs destroyed isn’t enough to keep her down. Though, this also highlights what is her biggest regret. While she may have reached the level of the gods and become an immortal, surpassing all human limits and showing what a human can accomplish with enough skill and determination, she also lost her humanity doing so. She spent thousands of years alone in solitude, never returning to the outside world or being able to see her pupil again until human history was incinerated, and only then was she finally able to return to the world, being summoned to Chaldea by Fujimaru Ritsuka, the last master of humanity, who became her first pupil in millennium. And in return, he helped her rediscover part of her humanity by helping her learn to simply relax and enjoy herself for a moment. She may be the Queen of Shadows, but beneath her deadly skills lies a woman who longs for death, and a chance to simply be more than a prisoner to her own skill.
Scathach: “This spear is an embodiment of who I am. And I am the epitome of the spear. Gáe Bolg Alternative!”
Pre-Fight[]
MegaSonic: Alright the combatants are set, it’s time to end this debate once and for all.
Sharaku: It’s time for a DEATH BATTLE!
DEATH BATTLE![]
The Land of Shadows
The scene opens with a panning shot over a castle surrounded by a field of dying grass, gloomy clouds overhead darkening the land. No life can be seen anywhere, save the figure of an old man wandering the Castle Halls, the Turtle Hermit, Master Roshi. As Roshi arrives at a large door in front of him, he grins and winds his fist back, then punches the door open to reveal the castle's interior courtyard where a woman in a dark purple skin-tight bodysuit, the Queen of the Land of Shadows, Scathach, sits.
Roshi: I’ve heard there was an incredible female warrior around these weird parts. You look quite impressive, and in more ways that one, might I add.
Scathach: Oh…a mortal man who found his way into my domain. You must be quite an un-ordinary person, then, if you’re here.
With a flick of her wrist, Scathach summons a crimson red spear as her eyes lock onto Roshi’s sunglasses and she assumes her battle stance.
Scathach: Looks can be deceiving, though, so how about you show me your true colors?
In a rushing leap forwards, Scathach flies across the courtyard and stabs her Gae Bolg forwards, the crimson spear clashing against Roshi’s staff for a moment before he manages to push her backwards.
Roshi: I’m not one to turn down a woman’s offer. And I’m also not one to turn down a fight.
Roshi braces himself and charges at Scathach, jumping forwards and throwing a spinning kick that Scathach blocks with her spear, only to use to spear itself to propel himself upwards and throwing a kick into her backside, sending Scathach straight into the ground, and giving Roshi a clear shot of her rear end.
Roshi: Eh-he-he! That’s not bad, actually!
Standing back up on both feet with a newfound glare in her eyes, Scathach charges at Roshi and lands a kick on his chest, sending him flying backwards into the nearest courtyard wall. As he collides into the wall, landing deep enough to leave an imprint of his figure on it, Scathach duplicates her Gae Bolg and sends several spears flying forwards. Roshi panics for a moment, but then manages to flip off the wall just before the spears skewer him, and he throws out the Turtle Orb ki blast from his hand.
Scathach spins her spear and slashes at the Turtle Orb, but with a wave of Roshi’s hand it flies around and avoids her attack, blasting into her leg to throw her off balance. In that moment, Roshi lands a quick combo of punches on Scathach, but as he winds up for the final blow she manages to dodge behind him as a flame begins to light up in her palm.
Scathach: Maybe there is more to you than meets the eye, old perverted master!
Roshi: Hey, no need to be so blunt! The truth hurts, ya know!
Scathach: Ansuz!
Thrusting her hands forwards, a giant blast of fire suddenly shoots from Scathach’s palm and flies across the courtyard, and in response Roshi steps backwards before throwing his own fist forwards, the resulting shockwave blasting the rune-flames away before getting the chance to roast him.
Scathach quickly moves in, throwing a stab with Gae Bolg that Roshi weaves to the side to avoid before clenching his fist together and throws a punch that she blocks with her spear.
Roshi: Rock! Paper! Scissors!
Suddenly, Roshi throws an open ended palm strike that break’s Scathach’s guard, and he then jabs two fingers forwards to bash the Queen of Shadows in the eyes to further disorient her. With his opening ready, Roshi gets ready to one last big punch, but Scathach recovers fast enough to cast an ice rune that quickly freezes Roshi’s fist solid, giving her time to ready Gae Bolg and stab it forwards, sending Roshi flying with a clean stab to the chest.
Scathach: Is that it? If you die from that measly stab, I’ll be pretty disappointed that you came all this way to just die so easily.
Roshi: Heh, I’ve faced far worse wounds in the past. Like the time I was shot by a bipolar criminal.
Scathach: You certainly do seem to have a…specific type. But…I’m more interested in seeing just how long you can last against me.
Leaning forwards, Scatach rockets across the battlefield and thrusts Gae Bolg forwards against, but in a sudden ripple Roshi throws a punch that manages to halt the spear as his body buffs up into his Max Power form.
Roshi: Not bad for an old man, huh!?
Scathach: Quite impressive indeed! But what matters now is how you use it!
Scathach leaps over Roshi, and the two quickly trade a flurry of attacks as Roshi uses his expanded mussels to deflect the attack of Scathach’s spear, though the celtic queen remains more than able to keep up with the Turtle Hermit's enhanced state. However, with one big punch, Roshi sends Scathach flying backwards, giving him a chance to charge up his signature technique.
Roshi: Kamehame…HA!!!
The Kamehameha flies through the air, ripping the ground up as it blasts Scathach dead on and sends her flying through several walls, even causing one of the castle towers to collapse upon itself as the beam flies through it. Roshi drops out of his max power form, looking over the smoke rising from the direction he fired his beam in.
Out of the rubble raises Scathach, clutching one of her arms as her legs wobble, definitely struggling after surviving the Kamehameha head on. With her one hand, she incants a rune spell, healing her body of its wounds.
Scathach: Don’t stop now. Now, I’m getting excited!
Suddenly appearing before Roshi in a burst of speed, Scathach drew her leg back and kicked him in the gut, sending him flying through the air and into a castle tower dozens of feet into the air. Roshi manages to land on his feet this time, and Scath leaps upwards after him and digs her feet into the side of the wall as the two start trading and parrying each other’s attacks at rapid speeds.
Anticipating each other’s next moves, both of them rapidly spun their weaponry around before they clashed once more. However, Scathach pushed further with the Gae Bolg, and snapped Roshi’s staff in half. Boosting off of the wall with an incredible burst of ki, Roshi fired a kiai towards Scathach, which slammed her through the side of the wall. Landing back on the ground, Roshi looked at the two pieces of his staff left in his hand.
Roshi: Ah crap. Well, may be out of weapons, but I sure as hell ain’t out of options!
Leaping from the destroyed wall, Scathach raised her spear to deliver a powerful strike, but Roshi ingeniously used both halves of the staff in an x-shape to catch the blow and wrench the cursed weapon from the Servant’s hands. Whirling around, Roshi then planted a powerful kick into Scathach’s midsection, knocking her over. Scathach quickly got to her feet and attempted to call the Gae Bolg back, but Roshi had it in his hands. This wasn’t really much of a problem, though, as Scathach raised her hands and numerous duplicated Gae Bolgs shimmered into existence.
Sending the various copies of her famous spear flying, Roshi manages to deflect a few of them, but one manages to scrape him across the leg and trip him up. In that moment, Scathach charges forwards and summons two more copies of Gae Bolg into her hands, slashing Roshi at blinding speeds with her two crimson weapons of death before she kicks up upwards, then combo’s him in the air before she flips around, landing a final slash that sends Roshi crashing back down into the ground with a hefty thud.
Roshi: Think I’m gonna cough up my spleen… But that’s some power you’ve got there. Even Tenshinhan’s multi-form technique had its power reduced. How do you manage that?
Scathach: This is my spear, my Gae Bolg. It is my legacy, my legend. It’s power follows my will, be it creating copies or ensuring death. This spear is my cursed legend.
After a moment, Roshi digs into his pocket, lifting out a blindfold that he ties around his eyes, which surprises even Scathach.
Roshi: Cursed eh? Well, maybe with the right Instinct, I’ll avoid death yet again.
Focusing only on the movement of his body, blocking out the thoughts of Scathach’s figure, Roshi’s body suddenly jerks to the side as he dodges a stab from her, and with a kick backwards Roshi is suddenly dodging an onslaught of furious strikes with extreme precaution before he suddenly leaps over Scatach and lands sweep kick the trips her legs out from under her, giving him the chance to then uppercut her into the air.
Roshi: Now, Thunder Shock Surprise!
Throwing a bolt of lightning out of his hands, Roshi catches Sathach in mid air with the Thunder Shock Surprise, and she lets out a yell of pain before Roshi then focuses all his energy around her as a green orb of energy surrounds her.
Roshi: Evil Containment Wav- WOAH!
However, Scathach counters Roshi’s sealing move with her own, as behind her she summons the Gate of Skye, looking over the castle as it’s doors open and starts drawing Roshi in, even yanking his blindfold off as he gets yanked upwards into the air.
Scathach: Your soul is mine!
Roshi: I’m flattered…but no thank you! KAMEHAMEHAAAAAA!!!!!
Charging everything up into one last blast, Roshi unleashed the Original Kamehameha at it’s full power and blasts it into Scathach, who reinforces her body with the Ehwaz Rune as the mighty ki blast hits the Gate of Skye…creating a massive explosion the ripples outwards through the Land of Shadows, smock filling the air as Roshi lands back on the ground, struggling to stand, but still on his feet.
Roshi: Guess…I still…got it. How’s that for a climax?
….
And then, the air freezes still. Roshi pauses, almost gasping, as Scathach merges from the smoke, holding two Gae Bolgs, one in each hand, and locks onto him.
Scathach: Stab and penetrate…thrust and impale…I will have your heart!
The world goes dark, the only lights breaking the darkness being two streaks of red in Roshi’s vision before he’s suddenly sent flying backwards, his body paralyzing itself and locking in place in mid air. Below him, Scathach supercharges her spear with mana, and aim’s it directly at Roshi’s chest.
Scathach: GAE BOLG ALTERNATIVE!!!
And with one mighty heave, the spear flies through the air like a magic missile, slamming into Roshi’s chest before bursting clean through and out the other side, completely destroying the Turtle Hermit’s Heart. Roshi gives out one final yell as his body hits the ground, blood oozing from the gaping hole left in his heart.
Scathach reclaims her spear and flicks the blood off its end, before she turns away from the sight of the now departed Kame Sensei.
Scathach: Thank you...that was a wonderful battle.
Conclusion[]
MegaSonic: Oh man, is it just me, or was the sexual tension in that fight kind of unbearbale?
Sharaku: It’d be even worse if Roshi was younger. Well, as I’m sure Roshi will be able to claim that he’s up to that sort of task, he wasn’t capable of coming out as the victor in this instance.
MegaSonic: Credit where it’s due, Roshi is an incredibly skilled martial artist who’s adept in dealing with unorthodox opponents in battle, Scathach was much the same in her skills as a warrior. Neither was partially more skilled than the other, but we do know for certain that Scathach has far, far more experience due to being thousands of years older than Roshi.
Sharaku: Yeah, despite physical appearances, she far exceeds him in age and experience. While Roshi isn’t exactly the most regular opponent, Scathach would certainly be able to adapt on the fly to Roshi’s own fighting style and match him blow for blow. Speaking of, she could not only match Roshi blow for blow, but exceed his own stats by a pretty good margin.
MegaSonic: Roshi’s Kamehameha may have been able to move at almost 1% the speed of light, but Cu Chulainn was able to fight Artoria Pendragon, and she was able to fight fellow Celtic Lancer Diarmuid Ua Duibhne at near light speeds. Given Cu was said to be far faster then Artoria, and Scathach upscales from him, she could easily be capable of fighting at or even past light speeds.
Sharaku: Yeah, there’s a bit of a discrepancy here. Additionally, Scathach could simply outbox Roshi in pure power output. I know it’s a bit tough to believe considering Roshi can transform into the buffest man on Earth while Scathach is… not that, but it’s true. While Roshi could destroy the moon during his very early showings in Dragon Ball, Scathact is comparable to Ishtar, who could convert entire planets into mana energy and use it as an attack. Even if we highballed Roshi’s feat and said that the complete pulverization of the moon got to somewhere around a small planet’s worth of destruction, that’s still not close to even the baseline for regular planet level, and that’s being generous.
MegaSonic: Now I know what some people are saying, “But Roshi could contend with galaxy busters in Super, and he was able to beat Tien, who should at least be star level”. And, those are dubiously true. While the scaling to Tien is a lot more solid than galaxy level scaling…it doesn’t matter. Remember how Scathach was able to block an arrow from Arjuna? Arjuna was once able to destroy 28 demon gods with his full power, the same amount of power used in the arrow Scathach deflected. What are Demon Gods? They’re primordial demons who Kinoko Nasu himself are the third strongest beings in the Nasuverse, behind omnipotent beings like Void Shiki and Arcueid. These demon gods are powerful enough to casually end universes, and Scathach herself was even able to tear through multiple of them with little issue.
Sharaku: And that isn’t even getting into-
MegaSonic: AAAAAAAND! Sscathach is also comparable to Karna, through her scaling to Arjuna. Karna’s scaling to the Gods doesn’t just stop at Ishtar, but at his full power he could even match Servant’s like Altera, and she could match Servant’s like Nero Claudius, Tamamo-No-Mae, and Gilgamesh, who could move 26 MILLION times faster than light and match deity’s who were capable of controlling the infinite multiverse of the Moon Cell. The Moon Cell itself even considers Scathach a Top Servant, putting her inherently on a level matching Nero, Tamamo, Altera, and Gil. And I don’t need to tell you that the infinite multiverse of the Moon Cell is far, far above Roshi potentially matching a Galaxy Buster in the Tournament of Power. Regardless of how high you want to scale Roshi, Scathach is literally one step ahead of him at every turn.
Sharaku: …Right. Anyways, it’s also inarguable to use Dragon Ball Heroes in this instance. Not only would Roshi be totally unable to scale to all of the good shit like with Trunks or Xeno Goku due to him just being… Well, completely absent in the canon during big-time events like with Mechkikabura, it also probably wouldn’t even be able to close the stats gap due to that whole debacle we just talked about. Even if we deliberately overestimated him he would still be getting horribly blitzed and out-haxed anyways.
MegaSonic: Remember, Gae Bolg rewrites causality so that it always pierces the opponent’s heart, regardless of the difference in power between them. It literally didn’t matter how fast or strong Roshi was, the moment she deployed Gae Bolg’s curse of instant death, Roshi was dead. It’s potentially possible Roshi could dodge it with the principles of Ultra instinct akin to Artoria surviving due to her Instinct and Luck skills, but this is shaky at best and downright unreliable at worst given Roshi isn’t a Servant and should not have Servant stats applied to him. They also both did have a few similar abilities, like they both had the ability to paralyze and seal each other, but Scathach’s method’s of doing so were far more reliable due to her far greater speed meaning she could utilize those abilities first to pretty much guarantee a win.
Sharaku: Dragon Ball’s Ki is also, well, objectively less versatile than Runes, as their basic components are just… energy. Something that is far and away much less complex than standard magic in the Fate series.
MegaSonic: Roshi is an amazing fighter and great mentor, that shouldn’t need to be said. But no matter what way you look at it, he just didn’t stack up to Scathach’s mythical power, speed, versatility, or her legendary spear of death.
Sharaku: Well, it’s not all bad. At least Roshi finally found a woman who could steal his heart.
MegaSonic: The winner is Scathach.
