In the MK 1 continuity, Syzoth is an Edenian with the ability to transform to a giant reptilian-like monster. He works as a henchman for Shang Tsung after his family has been taken hostage by the sorcerer. He later joins Liu Kang's party of heroes after Shang Tsung revealed that he killed his family months ago. Surprisingly enough, further dialogue reveals that he is in a romantic relationship with Ashrah.
