History

Reinhardt served in the earliest days of Overwatch, operating as a shield for his comrades. As he grew older, he retired, but became ashamed at what Overwatch became soon after. When Winston reassembled the team, he took up his hammer once more despite his age.

Reinhardt's iconic shield is the strongest barrier in the series; allowing him to protect the majority of his team with ease while allowing them to fire back. He is not dependent on this wall; as he can still fight effectively at close range. However his large, slow body and lack of long ranged weapons makes him vulnerable to agile flankers or snipers exploiting: so he is at his best when his protected teammates assist him.

• Wields a massive hammer that can crack the earth
• Can generate large barriers to use as shields
• Can use a turbo charge to grab opponents and ram them into walls
• Tank class health combined with his barrier makes Reinhardt designed for defending his team, point and payload.

• A massive hammer that can crack the earth with Earthshatter Ultimate (stuns and damages nearby enemies)

Barrier Field

• Large energy shield that absorbs damage and shots
  • 2000 HP
  • Regenerates 195 when not in use for at least 2 seconds.
  • Massive enough to protect multiple teammates teammates
  • 5 second cooldown if broken (585 HP).
  • Speed reduced to 6 MPH.

Fire Strike

• Flaming projectile thrown from hammer, pierces through multiple opponents

Feats

• Defeated hordes of Bastions with ease.
• Covered in literally dozens of scars from past battles.
• Strongest barrier (and arguably defensive capabilities) in Overwatch
• His charge is the deadliest non-ult attack in the game.

Faults and Weaknesses

• Excluding his charge; Reinhardt's speed is about average and his attacking speed is relatively slow. Is at a disadvantage against enemies with superior mobility.
• Not built for long-range attacks
• Shield has many weaknesses
  • The shield is deployed by a lion-shaped gauntlet. There is no barrier protecting the lion itself, meaning the center of the shield is a weak-spot
  • The shield only protects Reinhardt's front leaving him vulnerable to being flanked
  • Very slow when his shield is deployed.
  • The shield be destroyed rather easily if it's continuously attacked with repeated uninterrupted damage

Trivia

• Reinhardt most likely suffers from Gigantism; a condition that makes a person abnormally tall. This condition also causes back issues; which for Reinhardt most likely was intensified by his old age as well.
• Likes David Hasslehoff; which is a real stereotype of Germans.
• Reinhhardt is currently the oldest playable Overwatch character. He is also the tallest character (7' 4"); which is ironic considering his best friend Torbjorn is the shortest hero (4' 7"). This is a 2' 9" difference.
• Reinhardt and Brigitte are the only heroes in Overwatch who have no Quick-Melee.
