History[]

When Samus Aran was adopted by the Chozo, Raven Beak generously contributed by giving her some of his own DNA, leading him to view her as his "daughter", though, in truth, he didn't have any real affection for her. While colonizing planet SR388, the Chozo encountered the X, which lead to the creation of the Metroids. When the Metroids evolved into stronger and deadlier forms, the Mawkin and the Thoha worked together to contain them underground. The Thoha proposed destroying the planet to get rid of both the Metroids and the X, as they knew either one of these life-forms would threaten the universe if they fell into the wrong hands. Raven Beak, however, was amazed by the power of the Metroids, and believed they would help him achieve his goal of conquering the galaxy, thus, to prevent the Thoha from destroying SR388, he murdered all of them, except one, a scientist named Quiet Robe, because only the Thoha could control the Metroids.

Raven Beak and the Mawkin brought Quiet Robe to their planet, ZDR, to get to work on his plan. Unfortunately, one of the Mawkin soldiers had been infected by an X, leading to everyone except Quiet Robe and Raven Beak getting infected. After containing the X, Raven Beak was ready to get back to his plans. However, Samus had already eliminated all of the Metroids on SR388 to prevent the Space Pirates from using them for their evil schemes again, which, ironically, happened because of the Galactic Federation discovering the Metroids on SR388 and capturing one for research. Fortunately for Raven Beak, Samus had Metroid DNA inside herself after being given a vaccine made from the DNA remnants of a baby Metroid that she took from SR388 to save her from an X infection. Now he just needed a way to get the DNA from Samus. He sends the Galactic Federation a video of an X on ZDR, leading them to send seven E.M.M.I. (Extraplanetary Multiform Mobile Identifiers), well-armored research robots with incredible mobility designed to capture field samples and extract their DNA, to investigate. Upon their arrival, Raven Beak has the E.M.M.I. reprogrammed to hunt down Samus and extract the Metroid DNA within her, even if it means killing her. Having lost contact with the E.M.M.I., the Galactic Federation sends Samus in.

Shortly after arriving on ZDR, Samus comes face-to-face with Raven Beak; after a brief confrontation, he overpowers Samus and strips her of most of her equipment, although she does manage to hit him in the face with a Super Missile, scratching the right side of his helmet. From then on, Raven Beak pretends to be ADAM, the computer onboard Samus's ship, guiding Samus throughout her mission in the hopes of getting her to awaken her Metroid powers. He also orders one of his robotic Chozo soldiers to eliminate Quiet Robe after he divulges Raven Beak's plans to Samus and sets the X free from their imprisonment in Elun.

Eventually, Samus reaches Raven Beak's hideout, the aerial fortress Itorash, where she realizes Raven Beak was posing as ADAM the whole time. He tries to goad Samus into joining forces with him, but she refuses and destroys the illusionary network station, revealing Raven Beak's throne room. Disappointed by her disobedience, Raven Beak engages Samus in battle again. She fares better against him, but is still not quite strong enough to beat him. Holding her tightly by the throat, he proclaims that he doesn't need her or her Metroid DNA anymore, because he can now clone an army of the strongest Metroid of all: Samus herself, and nobody, not even Samus, can stop him once he does. Before seemingly dying, Samus remembers of all of the Chozo who died at Raven Beak's hands, and, in a burst of adrenaline and anger, she awakens the full extent of her Metroid powers and smashes through Raven Beak's helmet and begins draining his energy while also draining energy from Itorash, causing it to fall out of the sky.

Both Samus and Raven Beak survive the impact, but as he limps toward Samus, eager to continue battling, an X parasite infects Raven Beak, transforming him into a gigantic misshapen monster. Samus then uses Raven Beak's own Hyper Beam to destroy his monstrous form, as well as the X that invaded his body, purging the universe of him for good, and setting ZDR to self-destruct.
