Trivia[]
Raphael VS. Elektra is an episode of TheDudeMcDude's Death Battles featuring Raphael from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise and Elektra from the Marvel Comics.
Description[]
TMNT VS. Marvel Comics, which of these crimson clad ninjas shall prevail in a fight to the death.
Interlude[]
Wiz: Throughout the ancient eras of Japan, the Ninja were some of the most capable agents of stealth and combat.
Boomstick: And they were armed with weapons abound, like the Katana, Bo Staff and of course, the deadliest blades when they wanted to get up close and personal, the Sai.
Wiz: A weapon of skill and ferocity, wielded by only most lethal of fighters, such as Raphael, the rough-house bruiser of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Boomstick: And Elektra Natchios, the deadliest Assassin in the Marvel Universe. He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick.
Wiz: And it's our job to analyse their weapons, armour and skills to see who would win a Death Battle.
Raphael Busts Some Shell in Death Battle[]
Wiz: When the streets of New York City run rampant with mobsters, criminals, ninja assassins and mutant fighters, everyone knows there is only one group that you can rely on.
Boomstick: The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Leonardo leads, Donatello does machines and Michelangelo’s the party dude.
Wiz: But the fourth of these siblings, is the one who doesn’t mess around, Raphael.
Boomstick: Ah yes, who could forget the cool but rude dude.
Wiz: Along with his brothers, Raphael had been mutated into an anthropomorphic-turtle creature after being exposed to a mysterious vial of Ooze.
Boomstick: Lucky for them, a nearby rat had been transformed too.
Wiz: The rat went by the title of Master Splinter and taught the turtles Ninjutsu and taught them the sacred arts of the Ninja.
BACKGROUND:
NAME: RAPHAEL (NAMED AFTER THE RENAISSANCE ARTIST) NICKNAME: RAPH.
AGE: MOSTLY DEPICTED AS BEING AGED 15 OR 16.
SPECIES: MUTANT
FAVOURITE COLOUR: RED
HAS A FEAR OF BUGS
Boomstick: Whereas the other turtles wield their Katanas and Staffs and whatever, Raph prefers to be up close and personal with his Ninja-ing, that’s why he has taken up the Sai.
Wiz: Specifically, Sai knife-like blades, two of them are wielded at a time, with one in each hand. This is to allow the user to attack with one and block incoming attacks, allowing them to keep a steady pace in battle, if one Sai is acting as your defence while holding an enemy in place, then the other can provide a quick and brisk end to your opponent.
Boomstick: On top of that, he’s packing the usual Ninja gear, such as Kunai and Shuriken. Of course, these weapons would be nothing without the proper training.
Wiz: Luckily, that’s exactly what he’s got. All four of the turtles were taught and trained by Master Splinter. Splinter himself learned all he knew about Ninjutsu from his owner Hamato Yoshi. Day in and out, Splinter mimicked Yoshi’s movements and when he got mutated, became one of the best martial artists in the world with all that training behind him. Naturally, all of that skill was passed onto his students.
Boomstick: Don’t forget his awesome strength. Being a mutant-turtle thing, Raph has enhanced physicals too. He’s been able to kick down wooden panel doors and even smash his brother Donatello’s machines barehanded.
Boomstick: Or how he was able to pierce the thick hides of Bebop and Rocksteady, both of whom were able to no-sell machine-gun fire.
Wiz: This strength is backed up by his incredible speed. Being a Ninja, Raph is certainly familiar with being quick-footed, in fact both him and his brothers have been able to weave through oncoming laser fire, whilst heading straight towards its source.
Boomstick: He’s also tanked quite the few explosions in his time.
Boomstick: He even survived a swipe from the sword of Tengu, the same sword that can destroy a small building.
FEATS:
TOOK PART IN THE BATTLE NEXUS
CONSIDERED EQUAL TO LEO
SURVIVED AN ASSAULT FROM THE FOOT CLAN
TANKED CLOSE RANGE EXPLOSIONS
SURVIVED A BLAST FROM THE SWORD OF TENGU
GONE UP AGAINST MARTIAL ARTS EXPERTS INCLUDING LEO AND SHREDDER
HIS TONFA’S FORCEFIELD LAUNCHED AN ENORMOUS PIECE OF CONCRETE UP INTO THE AIR WITH A PUNCH TO THE GROUND
Wiz: And that’s not all, in his most recent incarnation, Raph has acquired a new set of weapons, two mystical Tonfa. When wielded by Raph, these Tonfa are capable of generating a large forcefield around him.
Wiz: These Tonfa boost not only his durability but his strength, such as when a punch from them did this…
Boomstick: With all this going for him, Raph is easily one of the most accomplished of his brothers. Heck, he’s considered on par with his brother and team leader Leo and on some occasions has managed to even surpass him. He’s even taken part in the Battle Nexus, a tournament that calls together some of the best fighters across the galaxy and even got pretty far in that, all things considered.
Wiz: Yeah, by all things considered you mean getting showed up by Mikey…
Boomstick: What?!! Michelangelo? How the heck did he manage to do that?
Wiz: Well, this is an unfortunate aspect of Raph’s character. Potentially, he could be better than any of his brother’s even Leo, but his unfortunate temper can get the better of him and many people have taken advantage of that. This usual his downfall, and he many other more skilled fighters have gotten the better of him because of this.
Boomstick: But again, if he were the more disciplined type, we wouldn’t love him anywhere near as much as we do. He’s the turtles’ muscle for a reason.
Raphael: You better hand over the phone, or so help me, I’ll kick your hairy butt all the way to New Jersey!
Elektra Assassinates Death Battle[]
Wiz: Between radioactive Spider-People, Super Soldiers, Mutants and giant green raging monsters, the Marvel Universe has no shortage of incredible people.
Boomstick: But among all of these guys, there are also the martial arts badasses.
Wiz: Daredevil, Iron Fist, Black Widow, Shang Chi are just a few who have devoted themselves to these disciplines. However, there is one who is considered the most lethal.
Boomstick: She lurks in the shadows, strikes with incredible precision and never fails at killing her target.
Wiz: And her name was Elektra Natchios.
BACKGROUND:
NAME: ELEKTRA NATCHIOS (NAMED AFTER THE FIGURE FROM GREEK MYTHOLOGY)
AGE: POSSIBLY EARLY 30S
SPECIES: HUMAN
HEIGHT: 5FT 9IN
OCCUPATION: CURRENTLY ASSASSIN AND MERCENARY
Wiz: Born on an unspecified Greek island, Elektra was the daughter of businessman-turned diplomat, Hugo Natchios, who put Elektra through rigorous martial arts training, despite her young age.
Boomstick: She kinda became a Jack-of-All trades and studied Ninjutsu, Karate and Aikido.
Wiz: And over time became a master in all three of them, but met a man she would have a- how shall I say- “complicated” relationship with, Matt Murdock.
Boomstick: Wow Matt, between Elektra, super spy Black Widow and the head-case that is Typhoid Mary, you certainly know how to pick ‘em.
Wiz: First meeting in College, Matt and Elektra got along pretty well together and of course, began a relationship. They even began training under Matt’s master, Stick, master of the ninja organization, the Chaste.
Boomstick: However, Stick wasn’t so sure about her and even advised Matt to distance himself from her. Little did he know how right he’d be about her.
Wiz: You see, Elektra’s father had been assassinated shortly after this and couldn’t get over her father’s death, so much so that Stick dismissed her. Desperate to prove herself, Elektra trained with her sensei Stick’s rival faction, the Hand and slowly became more corrupted and compromised by their sinister ways.
Boomstick: With training from both the Chaste and the Hand, Elektra has cut her teeth on both sides of the ninja coin, so to say.
Wiz: Moreso, she is in the masterclass of Ninja. She wields two Okinawa Sais, which are mostly used for up close combat, but she can also use them as projectiles, ricocheting them off hard surfaces, even being able to take Daredevil himself by surprise.
Boomstick: While those may be her favourites, she wouldn’t be much of master ninja if she didn’t have something else up her sleeve, such as shurikens, katana swords, tear gas, kunais and even a sansetsukon staff and she’s an expert in all of them.
Wiz: Her skill unarmed is also nothing to scoff at. As said before, she’s a master in many martial arts, has keen reflexes, being literally able to cut through oncoming bullets, trained in the art of killing and an expert in stealth, marksmanship and acrobatics. She’s even able to control her own nervous system, allowing her body to null any physical pain, limit her emotional state and even control her own blood-flow in order to lessen any excessive bleeding from injuries.
Boomstick: Her reputation is known far and wide and many of the best marvel fighters know not to mess with her.
FEATS:
COLLAPSED A BRICK WALL
BECAME PART OF THE THUNDERBOLTS
DESTROYED SHIELD ROBOTS UNARMED
FELL THROUGH A SOLID BRICK ROOF AND THEN ONTO A CAR
TOOK A HIT FROM A GIANT MECH
HER PSYCHIC POWERS WERE ABLE TO BLOCK PROBING FROM A WEAKENED JEAN GREY
DEFEATED SOME OF MARVELS BEST FIGHTERS INCLUDING DAREDEVIL, WOLVERINE AND BLACK WIDOW
Wiz: She’s strong enough to collapse a brick wall with a kick.
Wiz: Karate chop several concrete blocks.
Wiz: Destroyed some SHIELD robots unarmed.
Wiz: And even sliced a heart made of pure bronze with a single slash of her Sai.
Boomstick: Or heck, if all else fails, she can just pierce your torso with her hand. Something she’s kinda made a habit out of.
Boomstick: Even when clearly out-muscled, Elektra always finds a way to best an opponent, like when she gouged out the Hulk’s eyes.
Boomstick: Of course, her strength would be nothing if she didn’t have the agility to back it up. Like when she deflected a bullet after it was fired.
Boomstick: Or how she has been able to keep up with Black Widow and she’s been able to dodge oncoming laser-fire while fighting other mercenaries at the same time.
Wiz: And Elektra has proven to be Black Widow’s equal on many occasions.
Boomstick: She’d have to be in order to keep up with her, but what can you expect from a ninja master, who crashed through a concrete roof and then immediately got knocked straight out a window and then fell onto a car shattering the roof on impact.
Wiz: Or when she took a full-on punch from a giant mech.
Boomstick: Whoa, are you sure she hasn’t got some adamantium-thing going on that’s ridiculous.
Wiz: She’s not Marvel’s deadliest assassin for nothing and many of the world’s best fighters have learned this the hard way, including Daredevil, Wolverine, Bullseye, Stick and even managed to over-power Iron Fist, who even stalemated Shang Chi.
*Note: Iron Fist was not using his Chi for the majority of the fight, however when he did the fight turned in his favour.
Boomstick: However, there is another part of her arsenal that we have yet to mention.
Wiz: Right, Elektra through her training has manged to develop a variety of skills through a certain application of mysticism.
Boomstick: WwwWWOoooooOOOoo…
Wiz: Through this ambiguous skill Elektra has unlocked various mental abilities, these include, but are not limited too Telepathy, Precognition and even mild Telekinesis. However, that’s only scratching the surface of these powers. She has displayed the ability to mind control people, forcing them to act however she wishes, even fooling an enemy into thinking he had killed her, only to have him lead her back to his hideout.
Wiz: She has even displayed the ability to mind switch with people, allowing herself to throw her mind from one person into another.
Boomstick: Last but not least though, if all else fails she can pull out her Silent Scream. By focusing all her Chi into her lips she can pull a Black Canary and let out a horrible piercing scream that can leave her enemies deaf, or even more fatally, dead.
Wiz: However, even with her best accomplishments Elektra is not without her flaws. She’s arrogant and can go headfirst into questionable situations and while impressive, some people have gotten the better of her before, and this has led to her death on more than one occasion. When all is said and done though, even some of Earth’s greatest heroes know that Elektra is not to be underestimated, it may just be the last mistake of their lives.
*Matt abruptly releases his Baton and breathes frantically.
Elektra: Hello Matthew.
Matt: Elektra.
Intermission[]
Wiz: Alright the combatants are set, let's end this debate once and for all.
Boomstick: It's time for a Death Battle!
Death Battle[]
Location: Docklands, a large harbour surrounded by several large containers and cranes dotted around the area.
Time: Midnight.
A large group of Foot ninja are crowding the docks, waiting for an incoming ship.
A small rustling sound could be heard.
The ninja snapped around into the direction of the sound, readying themselves with their weapons.
Ninja 1: What the hell? Who’s there?
Ninja 2: Might be one of those shell-back freaks.
He is met with continual silence.
Before anything else is spoken, one of the ninjas is pierced through the skull with a shuriken.
Ninja 2: Jesus!
Ninja 3: Quick call for reinfor…
Not a moment after the rest of the ninja are taken down with similar attacks.
Not far from the harbour, a manhole is seen slightly lifting up with two small white slits peering out at the docks, observing the fallen foot ninja.
Raphael: Hmph, someone’s already cleared house here.
A woman clad in red catches his eyes from within the harbour.
Raphael: Well, except one it seems.
Elektra walks up to one of the containers and attempts to open it, however she hears a faint sound. Turning abruptly, she glimpses an oncoming projectile.
FIGHT!
Elektra dodges out of the way leaping up onto the container. The projectile is embedded into the container, she is now able to observe it is a Kunai.
Elektra: I missed one?
Elektra hears something again. Looking above a shadowy figure is descending towards her, bearing a Sai in each hand.
Elektra arms herself with her own Sai.
The figure lands in front of her and they lock blades with their Sai.
Elektra is slightly taken aback by the appearance of her opponent.
Raphael: What’s the matter? It’s the shell isn’t it?
Raph breaks their lock, staggering Elektra. Raph goes in with his Sai, but is unexpectedly met with a quick kick to his face knocking him off the container and into the support beam of a crane, bending it on impact.
Raph, slowly staggers himself up onto his feet, but notices three shuriken heading towards him. Raph quickly dodges the three of them but is struck on his left shoulder by an unseen fourth shuriken.
Raphael: Ugh, dammit.
Raphael pulls it out.
Raphael: Alright Red, yaw anna play rough you got it.
He then notices Elektra running atop the containers.
Raphael: Hey, ya dropped this.
Raph then launched the Shuriken towards Elektra. Elektra was taken off-guard, noticing the Shuriken coming towards her, but barely dodged it just in time, with the Shuriken severing of some locks of her hair. She quickly snatched it from the air, clasping it between two fingers and returned it back towards its starting position.
The Shuriken met its location, but not its target. Raphael was gone from the location and was nowhere to be seen.
Elektra: What?
SLASH!
Elektra felt a brisk rending on her left shoulder-blade from behind, not a deep wound, but was still effective at sending her into a stupor.
Elektra: AAAAHHHHHH!
Elektra clasped her shoulder-blade with right hand.
Raphael: Not the only one with dirty tricks.
Raphael rushed towards Elektra. Elektra stammered back onto her feet, and their Sais were locked again. The lock broke, and a flurry of slashing was shared between them. The devastating slashes continued for a while, with both Raphael and Elektra wavering and unwavering throughout the exchange. Elektra started to get the advantage and slowly stammered over Raphael, continuing her flurry of slashes. Raphael was feeling the strain and was starting to tire out, but Elektra kept on going, with no hesitation.
Raphael: Wh-What? What the shell are you tryna…
Before he could finish, amidst their exchange of furious slashes, Elektra trapped Raphael’s wrists in the hilts of her Sais. She twisted the Sias, straining Raph’s wrists forcing him to drop his Sais. Before Raph could collect himself, a vicious cavalcade of punches and kicks were unleashed upon him, ending with one final punch, sending him careening towards some wooden crates on the ground, shattering them on impact.
Elektra jumped down from the top of the container and continued on her way towards the container she attempted to open before, until she heard…
Raphael: That all ya got?
Immediately emerging from the rubble of wooden crates was Raph, now encased in a red shield, baring Tonfas and towering over Elektra.
Elektra through her Sai, ricocheting it of a nearby support beam, flying towards what Elektra could only assume was the head, only to have the Sai, deflect off the surface of the force-field.
Raphael: Heh, my turn.
Raphael delivered numerous blows to the ground attempting to hit Elektra. Elektra manoeuvred around the enormous fists with her acrobatic skills. However, she made a wrong move and was met with a blow from one of the fists, launching her straight through one of the nearby containers and falling to the ground.
Elektra struggled to get up clearly taken a lot of damage from the last attack. Raphael homed in on her while he could and with one final punch to the ground, a shower of crimson was sent into the air when the punch connected to the ground.
With the enemy now defeated, Raph released his force-field.
Raphael: Hah, now that’s what I call breakin’ out some she-
Then, a terrible deafening scream was heard. Raphael fell to his knees clasping his ears.
Raphael: AAAHHHHHH- WH- WHAT THE-
Before he could gather his senses, Raphael felt two sharp blades pierce him straight through his eyes. Elektra had landed down from above, with her feet resting atop his shoulders and her back hunched down forcing her Sais further in.
Elektra: You shouldn’t trust your eyes. They deceive you.
Elektra then unsheathed her Sias with a back flip off of Raphael and thrusted her hand forward breaking through Raph’s torso. Finally, she pulled her hand out, with it coated in crimson and before Raphael’s body could hit the ground, she delivered one final kick launching Raphael off the harbour pier and into the large body of water below.
Elektra then slipped away into the shadows of the docks and disappeared.
K.O!
Results[]
Boomstick: Wow, way to stick it to ‘im.
Wiz: Raphael may have had the strength advantage, but unfortunately, Elektra had the advantage that mattered everywhere else.
Boomstick: With Raph being able to keep up with lasers, it seemed like he held the speed advantage, but not exactly, Elektra is on par with Black Widow, who has had similar laser-dodging feats going for her and Elektra is on pretty even-ground with her, if not better in some instances. Strength-wise, it also seemed pretty even. Both have pulled off the usual wall-shattering and robot smashing, you could come to expect.
Wiz: So, the difference came when examining their individual skills and expertise. Raph is a very skilled Ninja and while I don’t need to sell him short, Elektra was leagues above him in terms of prowess. She has mastered numerous martial arts, not just Ninjutsu and is a weapons master having many different types of arms in her arsenal.
Boomstick: Remember, Raph is definitely not the most disciplined of fighters, he’s had it rough going up against actual martial arts masters, such as Shredder. In fact none of the Turtles are have ever achieved the rank of Master in most of their incarnations, with Splinter showing a clear difference in skill and technique between him and the Turtles time and again. Meanwhile Elektra is over here, beating such experts like Stick and Danny Rand. As far as the Marvel Universe is concerned, even the best fighters consider her to be in a league all her own.
Wiz: She also had a distinct experience advantage too. Both Raphael and Elektra have been training all their lives, but obviously has the edge due to being older and Raph’s hot-headed personality didn’t do him any favours in this fight either. Someone as calculative as Elektra could definitely take advantage of that, especially since lesser fighters such as Michelangelo have done so before.
Boomstick: But let’s get into the big issue here, Raphael’s Tonfa forcefield.
Wiz: This was Raph’s ace in the hole and could easily have been his only way to victory. However, when looking at this objectively, while this could be Raph’s best way to earn a victory, Elektra just had more going for her in many ways. Her skill, experience and expertise were just too big of an advantage for her in this fight and as proven with her taking that hit from a giant Mech, she could definitely hold her own at least for a short while against the force-field, all so she could bring out her x-factor.
Boomstick: Her ninja-magic-mind-tricks.
Wiz: Eh- sure, if that’s what you’re calling it. Elektra’s psionic abilities gave her many ways to end the fight in her favour, quickly and with relative ease. She could hypnotise him into making him immobile, mind control him into doing whatever she wanted and even pull a captain Ginyu and transfer her mind into his body and kill him that way, even before using his Tonfa, there was nothing stopping her from doing any of this.
*Note: In the IDW Comics, Raphael has had some experience in using Astral Telepathy, however there is no evidence to suggest that he could apply this to counter any of Elektra’s psychic abilities, even if there was, Raphael himself has never mastered this.
Boomstick: Even with the Tonfas out and the forcefield out Elektra could just use her psychic illusions to trick Raphael into dropping his guard, leaving him open for Elektra to finish him off. Again, she’s the world’s deadliest assassin for a reason. Don’t get us wrong here, if this fight was done over, Raphael could definitely take several rounds in this fight with just the Tonfas strength alone, but in the majority Elektra just held more advantages.
Wiz: Raphael was definitely able to hold his own against Elektra, but the lethal assassin’s greater experience, skills, ferocious tenacity and Psychic prowess was enough to give her the victory against the Ninja Turtle.
Boomstick: Looks like this turtle got shell-shocked.
Wiz: The winner is Elektra.
