Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe! Two lightning-wielding heroes face off in an electric death battle! Who wields the living lightning better?
Interlude[]
Sokudo: The realm of fiction has an uncountable amount of super heroes and powers
Akuryo: And only a select handful get to have the super badass power of electrocuting the shit out of people!
Sokudo: Raiden, The God of Thunder
Akuryo: And Jefferson Pierce, the Black Lightning
Akuryo: He's Sokudo and I'm Akuryo
Sokudo: It's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win... a Death Battle.
Raiden[]
Sokudo: In the universe of Mortal Kombat there is an endless struggle of power and conquest between Outworld and Earthrealm
Akuryo: With a few other realms included but who cares about them!
Sokudo: With Earth and the other realms being under the chance of constant invasion, the Elder Gods created the Mortal Kombat tournament to give the other realms a chance to defend themselves
Akuryo: But figuring that us puny Earth people needed someone strong to help in the fight, they gave the job of Protector of Earthrealm to the incrediblely powerful God of Thunder, RAIDEN!!
Sokudo: Raiden, like Akuryo said, is the God of Thunder and Protector of Earthrealm for this battle we will be focusing on the current timeline Raiden, the one starting with the 2011 Mortal Kombat game
Akuryo: So lets get riiiiiiight into the info!
Sokudo: Raiden has complete control of electricity and thunder, he can fire torrents of lightning and concentrated blasts of it
Akuryo: He is also able to fly with his electirc fly technique
Sokudo: With his many abilities a God he is able to teleport around the battlefield with... teleport, he is able to eletrocute his enemy and is able to send electricity to certain parts of his body such as his hands or feet to boost his attack damage to them with Rising Thunder and Shocker
Akuryo: Raiden here also has the Static Trap which puts a big orb of glowing shit
Sokudo: Electricity
Akuryo: Yeah, puts it in front of him for about 10 seconds allowing dumbasses to run right into it
Sokudo: He has Superhuman Strength, Speed and Durability, being able to punch Motaro through a solid bridge with little to no effort
Akuryo: Motaro? He doesn't sound that stro- (A picture of Motaro is shown) Jesus Christ! He's a fricking Centaur!!
Sokudo: Raiden is also a master of 4 different martial arts
Akuryo: Nan Chuan
Sokudo: Which focuses on striking and weapons training
Akuryo: Jujutsu
Sokudo: To take down armed and armored opponents using no weapons
Akuryo: Judo
Sokudo: Focuses on grappling, throwing and takedowns
Akuryo: And Taekwondo
Sokudo: Focuses on powerful and LIGHTNING fast kicks! Get it?
Akuryo: ... Shut up Sokudo
Sokudo: Aww
Akuryo: He also has a sick-ass staff which he is skilled in using and has some sort of spear thing on it
Sokudo: And of course what is a Mortal Kombat character without some cool fatalities to go with them
Akuryo: Ah yes, Raiden's favourite past times include ripping out your brain and heart, charging them like their iPhones, putting them back in you and blowing them up taking you with them
Sokudo: ... Holy shi...
Akuryo: Bug Eyes is him electrocuting your eyeballs out and Conducting Rod has him getting his staff and shoving it riiight down your throat :)
Sokudo: With all of his abilities he has done many great feats
Akuryo: Yeah including beating Scorpion, Stryker, Kitana, Kabal, Nightwolf, Shao Kahn, the list goes on and on
Sokudo: He has killed Liu Kang and took on him, Kitana, Smoke, Sindel and Kung Lao at the same time and defeated them
Akuryo: Well, even though he's a God he has got his fair share of weaknesses
Sokudo: Yes, he has been bested by a fair amount of fighters in the MKverse and his full power must be restrained in order to enter Earthrealm
Akuryo: Also he was beaten by Sonya Blade
Sokudo: That was because he didn't want to hurt her in the first place
Akuryo: Still counts! Anyway if you know what's good for you, you'll stay the Netherrealm away from this Thunder God
Raiden: To the Netherrealm with you!!
Black Lightning[]
Sokudo: Jefferson Pierce grew up in a neglected part of Metropolis called Suicide Slum
Akuryo: Why's it called Suicide Slum you ask? Well that's because it was believed the only to escape the slum was to kill yourself... Great!
Sokudo: One day Pierce's father was accidentlly killed during a mob hit
Akuryo: Like The Punisher!
Sokudo: Life became hard for Jefferson and his widowed mother but a month or so later an Italian tailor named Peter Gambi started helping Jefferson and his mother with financial difficulties
Akuryo: And so Bambi
Sokudo: Gambi
Akuryo: Gambi became a father figure to our dear Black Lightning
Sokudo: As Jeff grew up he pushed himslef in his studies and athletics, and he had an aptitude in English and poetry and even wrote in one poem: "Justice, like lightning, should ever appear to some men hope, to other men fear"
Akuryo: Talk about foreshadowing huh?
Sokudo: And at the ripe old age of 18, he was picked to represent America at the Olympics
Akuryo: Wow! Not bad! I remember my first Olympics too...
Sokudo: Wait, you went to the Olympics Akuryo?
Akuryo: Yeah I got a Gold Medal in giving the judge all the money in my wallet!
Sokudo:Where was this Olympic Games might I ask Akuryo?
Akuryo: At the backalley behind a pub, why?
Sokudo: ...
Akuryo: What?
Sokudo: You're an idiot Akuryo
Akuryo: Anyway after winning some medals and attention, he received an English major and teaching degree at college, went to the Olympics a second time and won gold in decathlon, got freaky with a woman called Lynn Stewart and had a daughter
Sokudo: Yeah basically
Akuryo: But the marriage didn't last long and Jeff and Lynn divorced so he went back to Metropolis
Sokudo: Upon returning he found Suicide Slum still in its pathetic state and decided to make a difference after a criminal organization called The 100 killed one of his students after Jeff got in the way of one of their plans
Akuryo: Given a blue costume by his father figure Gambi and equipped with a force-field belt that enables him to generate lightning bolts, he became one of the first black (stereotypical) heroes in comics, he became Black Lightning
Sokudo: Black Lightning has the obvious power of electrokinesis, he is able to generate raw electricity which courses through his body and he can manipulate and control it
Akuryo: With his Electro Blast he can shoot electricity at his foes
Sokudo: He also has Electromagnetism which enables him to sort of control metal with his mind, this evidenced with the time he stopped a bunch of thugs by flipping their car with his mind and ripping it in two with little to no effort
Akuryo: He can also throw...Black Lightning... seriously?
Sokudo: Ok look I know it sounds weird but there's actually a difference you see, normal electricity has to follow the law of physics. it can't comeout of nowhere as it travels through things like insulation. Black lightning is based on magic so it doesn't follow any of the rules so he can make it at any time and it gives him an edge against magic-based powers.
Akuryo: He can also teleport, create force fields that can stop bullets, block explosions, energy blasts, grenades, bombs and physical attacks, he can also turn himself into literal lightning!
Sokudo: In this electric form he is completely invulnerable to physical attacks and can I stay in the form as long as wants. With his he can go through conditions that would normally kill him, even able to survive the vacuum of space!
Akuryo: He can also phase through walls in this form, like The Vision or Spectre
Sokudo: He can use his powers to travel through wires at an incredibly fast rate!
Akuryo: So it can be that he's in a light bulb in Metropolis and end up in a light switch in Gotham City in a few seconds!
Sokudo: He can sense electricity, so he can literally track down living creatures to guided missiles
Akuryo: Pierce has a healing factor as he can create new cells to cover injured parts of his body and he can actually share this with other people! As evidenced when he healed Superman during 2001's Superman #175
Sokudo: He can absorb eletrical energy from objects and others with electrokinesis, although if the eletrical power is too powerful for him, he is at a risk of dying for absorbing too much
Akuryo: He can control bio-eletricity which means he can mess around with your muscles and stuff in your body! Not a nice feeling I bet
Sokudo: He can sense electrical fields, stop a speeding car by holding out his hand, can travel at the speed of lightning or on his bolts, the speed of sound, dodge bullets, see the world at incredibly slow speeds and with his genius level intellect he is able to strategize plans on the go and also the angrier he gets, the stronger he gets
Akuryo: What, like The Hulk? Damn, Black Lightning is more OP than I thought!!
Sokudo: Even though he does seem that way his win-loss record is pretty spotty having lost to Batman, Deathstroke, Lex Luthor, Amazo and a few others who can outthink him and just had more raw power
Akuryo: But who cares! This is one afro-rocking, 70s throwback lightning guy you don't wanna mess with
Black Lightning: Lightning strikes twice in this town, and the second time I strike, it's for keeps!
Pre-Death Battle[]
Sokudo: Alright! The combatants are set. Let's end this debate once and for all.
Akuryo: It's time for a Death Battlllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DEATH BATTLE![]
(Location: Demon-Ridded Metropolis)
It was a normal day in Metropolis, well by normal you mean Felix Faust summoning demons from the underworld by feeding innocent civilian souls. The Outsiders were helping Wonder Woman contain the madness that was happening in the once peaceful city.
(The Outsiders and Wonder Woman are attacking the demons)
Felix Faust: Fools! You think you can defeat me?! The Great Felix Faust! Even though you forcefully exorcise my demons, you still fail at preventing my real plan! MUHAHAHAHA!
Geo-Force: Jeez, this nut case never fails getting on my nerves
Suddenly the sky turns red and the wind becomes more boisterous and wild.
Felix Faust: It's happening! I must prepare!!
The Dark Magician then hurries to a street corner to start his magic
Batman: No! We can't let him say his spells
Metamorpho: Batman, what's he planning to do?
Batman: I read his files, he plans to summon an entity known as "The Fallen Elder God"
All of a sudden, a prompt flash of lightning crosses the Superheroes in pursuit of Faust, it was Jefferson Pierce, The Black Lightning
Black Lightning: Don't worry guys, I'll stop him
Felix is summoning this mysterious "Fallen Elder God"
Felix: With the summoning of demons and the arrival of you soon, come with your death-embracing followers who are immune, let your ban from this Earth be thawed, I summon you destructive --
Black Lightning, hearing enough to decide to attack, shoots his lightning bolts at Faust, and Faust screams in pain and confusion
Felix: T-Thunder God?!
The crimson red skies suddenly turn blue and a thunder bolt strikes the mortal ground, frying Faust into a disintegrated mess.
Black Lightning: Damn! I wasn't fast enough! I better deal with this "God" before his destroys the city!
The mysterious God walks slowly out from the cloud of smoke his mighty bolt made, a silhouette of a man with a strange-looking hat appears, it is shown that it is Mortal Kombat's Thunder God, Raiden
Raiden: I seem to have been summoned to this realm by dark magic, I must be weary of any sorcerers that inhabit this realm and I must find my way back home
Black Lightning: Hey you! You may be a Thunder God, but I'm the one who gives the shocks around here and you are the perfect evil conductor I can use
Black Lightning clenches his fist and lightning appears at his hands
Raiden: You also control Thunder? I see, but it is I who commands its will!
FIGHT!
Black Lightning and Raiden both shoot a stream of electricity at each other, the electricity meet and end up dispelling each other causing a huge shock wave. The two kombatants decide to settle things with their fists and run to each other with haste.
Black Lightning and Raiden exchange kicks and punches to each other unable to land a hit on another until Raiden grabs a punch from Pierce and grapples him to the ground, he then picks him up, does a three-hit combo and Electric Fly the hero into a building.
Black Lightning: Guh!.. Is that... all you got!
Black Lightning shoots his lightning at Raiden which knocks him into a wall, and proceeds to grab Raiden by the face and electrocute him, but Raiden grabs Black Lightning's hands.
Black Lightning: What?!
Raiden: Trying to hurt the Thunder God, with the power he commands, you're much more of a fool than I thought!
Raiden punches Pierce and uses Vicinity Blast, he then punches Pierce through all the building's walls, Lightning is bleeding from his nose
Black Lightning: He's impervious to lighting huh? Guess I just gotta beat the hell outta him
Raiden teleport's in front of Pierce and attempts to punch him, but Pierce teleport's away
Raiden: What?
Black Lightning reappears behind the God of Thunder and punches right at the back of his head, Raiden tries to hit back, but Lightning gets him in a barrage of attacks by turning into lightning and quickly taking physical form to land a hit.
Raiden is now all bloody, but he anger rises
Raiden: You dare strike the God of Thunder?!
Raiden catches Pierce in physical form and breaks his arm
Black Lightning: ARRGHH!
Raiden brings out his spear and stabs Lightning in the gut with it and electrocutes him into a wall
Raiden heals himself
Raiden: It is now time for you to pay for your insolence!
Pierce gets up, all bloodied and bruised
Black Lightning: you bastard... now you've made me mad
Black Lightning then gets up and shouts (a-la Super Saiyan) as lightning disperses from his body
Raiden decides to use almost all of his lightning powers to fry Pierce, but Black Lightning absorbs all of the power and heals himself
Raiden: Impossible! You can absorb my powers?!
Black Lightning: Didn't you know? Lightning strikes twice in this town, and the second time I strike, it's for keeps!
Raiden screams and runs to attack Lightning, but Pierce flies up and uses his electromagnetic powers to rip the steel infrastructure from the surrounding buildings, and cars, statues, and he throws them all at the God of Thunder.
Raiden, is back to being bloodied, barley being able to stand
Raiden: By- By The Elder Gods...
Black Lightning, controls the muscles in Raiden's body to paralyze him and stabs him in the heart with his own spear
Black Lightning: Tch, Thunder God my ass...
Black Lightning walks back, ready to to tell his teammates the details of his awesome battle
K.O.!
Results[]
Akuryo: Goddamn! What a great start to the series!
Sokudo: This was an extremely intense battle
Akuryo: Since we're beginners at this! I won't mask it, this was a very hard match to choose a winner from... well until we learn't how OP Black Lightning is!
Sokudo: Yes, this was a close battle, but it seemed that Raiden only outclassed Jefferson in combat experience and martail art ability
Akuryo: Yeah, in a fist-to-fist fight, Raiden would win every time
Sokudo: Both fighters are actually immune to electricity, so their main form of attack were cancelled out, but Pierce had the advantage in the other categories
Akuryo: Pierce was way faster being able to fly at the speed of sound, and was smarter with more tactial abilities
Sokudo: Black Lightning is also incredibly strong, once in a fight with fellow Outsider member, he was buried and battered with giant rocks, he got up angry and destroyed several city blocks in his attack (Outsiders #28)
Akuryo: Yeah and the fact that he can control your body and metal with his mind, it was kinda over for Raiden
Sokudo: I mean sure, Raiden can conduct electricity through wood, but we've never seen him move metal or other people bodies with his mind, and since Raiden is mortal when he comes to Earthrealm he definitely had chances of dying
Akuryo: Yeah, Mortal Kombat Fans were definitely SHOCKED by this outcome... hehe
Sokudo: The Winner is Black Lightning
