Qrow Branwen VS Gordeau is a What-If?Death Battle by LakuitaBro01.2
Description:[]
RWBY VS UNIEL! It's a late night of bartending for Gordeau, and it's about to get rough with a scythe duel! Can Qrow walk out with his drink in hand alive, or will Gordeau escort Qrow out without ruining the bar?
Interlude:[]
Wiz: The scythe. At first a simple farm tool, it was used as a weapon to defend from those who wished to harm. As time went on, the scythe became a symbol of bad things to come.
Boomstick: Like the Grim Reaper, or Ravens, or a squealing hog covered in gasoline running towards a grill located in the center of a day care. Don't ask.
Wiz: Boomstick's last father's day aside, anyone proficient at a scythe is certainly a deadly foe.
Boomstick: Qrow Branwen, Ozpin's Huntsmen.
Wiz: And Gordeau, the Grim Reaper.
Boomstick: He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick.
Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skin to see who would win a Death Battle.
Qrow Branwen:[]
Wiz: The world of Remnant has existed for many years, and at first there was nothing until the God Brothers bestowed life upon it. One brother light, the other dark.
Boomstick: The younger god of darkness created the beasts known as Grimm, and after a long time of arguing, the older brother decided they would create one thing they both could be proud of: Humanity.
Wiz: Humanity grew, using new weapons and dust to combat the Grimm. Soon, humanity prospered while keeping the Grimm away.
Boomstick: Still, there's evil people in the world. Evil huntsmen, evil scientists, evil god lady people. So there has to be someone to hunt the hunters.
Wiz: Enter Qrow Branwen.
Boomstick: Qrow Branwen is the uncle of Ruby Rose, and aside from her actual father, a father figure to her that taught her how to use a scythe, plus he's a teacher. Only issue though is that he's usually drinking.
Wiz: That aside, Qrow is a master at using his weapon, Harbinger, a sword that has four forms at its disposal.
Boomstick: First form, of course, is the sword itself. Despite it's size, Qrow's been shown able to whip it around with relative ease. Then you got the inactive form which is useful for nothing, but then you turn it to ranged mode and BAM it's a fuckin' shotgun!
Wiz: Finally the last form is the scythe itself. Both bladed forms of this weapon are deadly, being able to slice through the tougher known Grimm like butter, and his expertise is enough to match Tyrian Callows, a member of Salem's inner circle.
Boomstick: The world of Remnant has two unique powers known as Aura and Semblance. Aura is a projection of the soul, and with it humans can use it defensively, offensively, or to heal others. And Semblances are special powers, Qrow's is bad luck manipulation in a "equal opportunity" type of way.
Wiz: Also, if he wants to hide out for a little bit, he can always turn into a crow.
Boomstick: Qrow is an amazing fighter, he's matched the aforementioned Tyrian and has gone toe to toe with Cinder Fall along with Emerald and Mercury, and he's killed countless waves of grimm by himself.
Wiz: Due to being a more experienced Huntsmen, Qrow is vastly superior to his niece and her team, and he can even outpace Sun Wukong, who reacted to a bolt of electricity shot from the Sea Feilong.
Boomstick: And as much as Qrow sounds like my type of guy who I'd love to share a drink with, he still has his weaknesses, and that is the Aura itself.
Wiz: See, in RWBY, Aura, if used too much, will shatter and will leave Qrow vulnerable to attacks, meaning no projection, no chance at winning.
Boomstick: And while drinking seems like a good idea, it's really not. He spends most of his fighting drunk, and while it doesn't affect him in the slightest, it's still bad if he gets distracted.
Wiz: However that may be, Qrow Branwen will fight to the very end.
Gordeau:[]
Wiz: The Hollow Night is a once a month night where the dimension, also called the Hollow Night, merges with Earth and creatures known as Voids attack and feed on humanity.
Boomstick: Luckily Earth has a bit of a defense force. The humans who survive being bitten by a void with their Sanity intact become beings known as In-Births, who are immortal and can die by no means, unless that mean is a teenager with a red sword.
Wiz: These In-Births were then given powers known as "EXS" which gives unique abilities to the In-Birth, however while some may use the power for good, others use it for their evil deeds.
Boomstick: From Licht Kreis to Night Blade to Amnesia, there's few neutrals to this all, but only one hired for his skills and power.
Wiz: His name is Gordeau.
Boomstick: If I liked Qrow then I'll like this guy just as much because Gordeau works as a bartender, and he usually works for Hilda, the main antagonist of the game, and just like Qrow, he uses a scythe.
Wiz: Gordeau's scythe is a weapon called "Demon Sickle: Devourer" and he can summon it out of thin air whenever he feels like it.
Boomstick: Gordeau uses his scythe skillfully, twirling it and slicing people and Voids with it and what not, but he also uses it to pull people closer to him so that way he can open them up with his punches.
Wiz: Gordeau's techniques include Mortal Slide, Shade Harvest, and Assimilation. These can be used in unison with each other, starting off with the stab, then the pull, then the part where Gordeau rips their soul out.
Boomstick: You also got Grim Reaper and Aim Opening, both of which are just giant spinning blade moves. His two strongest moves are Turbulence, a series of scythe swings that end with a big one, and then his finisher where he rips out their soul entirely and then cuts them in half.
Wiz: Gordeau is an In-Birth, if it wasn't obvious by this point, and his EXS is the EXS of Greed: Snatcher. this power allows Gordeau to grow long, purple-glowing claws that allow him to rip souls to pieces. His weapon is also a product of turning into an In-Birth.
Boomstick: Gordeau is a powerful fighter, he's able to tank Linne's God Mower, a move with a power output of 9.7 kilotons, and he's able to match Waldstein in combat.
Wiz: And Gordeau is fast enough to dodge and block a beam of light activated from a other character's "Super Move", if you will, and he's able to match Linne, Hyde, Waldstein, Seth, and others in combat.
Boomstick: However Gordeau still has his weaknesses. He doesn't fight with any skill, he relies on his scythe but otherwise he recklessly punches and kickes.
Wiz: And while his ability to rip souls sounds like a instant win, he only ever uses it if he's been forced to do so.
Boomstick: If need be still, I'd let Gordeau poor me a drink.
Death Battle:[]
It was a loooong night for Gordeau. One of the busiest nights he's ever experienced working his night job. Every time he turned there was someone asking him for another drink, another plate of food, another soda, another straw. As time went on, and more people cleared out, he finally had a moment to himself to check in on his sales and to clean his bottles.
After putting a bottle of Crown Royal back on the shelf, a new patron sluggishly sat down at his bar, setting a massive brick of a weapon up on the bar top. The bartender peered over his shoulder.
"Can you put that on the ground, please?"
The stranger groaned and dropped it with a thud.
"Great." Gordeau thought, "An unhappy customer."
With an hour until close, Gordeau sighed and brought a water over to the man. He took a sip and studied the glass before Gordeau could say anything.
"...This whiskey?"
Gordeau looked confused, "Err... no, sir. It's water."
"I don't want it, bring me your cheapest whiskey."
Gordeau smiled and nodded, turning away from him. Gordeau was annoyed, but it was clear the man was intoxicated already. He was just going to give him the one drink and then cut him off. It looked like he Ubered there anyway.
He poured the drink on some rox and dropped it off in front of the man. He took a sip out of it and relaxed, letting whatever was bothering him drift away. Gordeau went back to taking care of his other patrons when the man began to stir again, eyeing one of the nearby hostesses.
A shriek pierced the air, catching the attention of Gordeau. The man had gripped onto the hostess. Gordeau jumped the counter and bloted at the asshole, but another man in white, and equally tipsy, grabbed the man and threw him across the ground.
"I b-*hic*-'lieve that's MY weapon, asshole."
He sat in the old patron's seat and began to drink his cocktail, while the drunk-now-knocked-out patron was being hoisted out of the bar. Gordeau froze and then went back behind the bar top, eyeing the new patron.
He grabbed a water for him and set it down in front of him. The guy in white eyed Gordeau suspiciously, by smiled. "Thanks for the water, pardner."
He threw back the rest of the whiskey and struck up a chat with Gordeau. He revealed that his name was Qrow Branwen, and like him, he was stuck in this weird paradox of a world.
"I've met so many weird people, Gordeau, there were two dudes the size of a VAN wrestling each other in the forest."
Gordeau laughed. "That was Waldstein and Iron Tager. They love to fight each other."
Qrow swirled the ice in his drink. "Ah, just like my nieces. I haven't seen them in a while." Qrow pulled out his phone and showed Gordeau a picture of him, Yang, and Ruby. "Last I heard, Rubes and Yang were transported here."
Gordeau bit his tongue.
"If anyone touched a hair on their heads, not only would they have had their asses kicked, but there'd be hell to pay when I find them." he said, staring blankly at his drink. His eyes turned slyly onto Gordeau, the whiskey finally taking its full effect on his body.
"I'm sure you'd know something, Harvester."
Gordeau's face dropped to a "ah shit" look as he stepped back from the bar top in time to dodge Qrow stabbing through the counter towards his chest. Qrow kicked the barstool to the side and hoisted the scythe over his shoulder. Patrons began to run away from the bar as Gordeau vaulted over the counter and summoned his weapon, crossing scythes with his new foe.
"Where are they?" Qrow demanded.
"I couldn't tell you." Gordeau sighed, preparing for a hell of a fight to come.
FIGHT!
The clashing of blades interrupted the silence between the two reapers. Gordeau twirled his blade around, trying to find a mark on the Huntsman, but Qrow was able to answer back with several slashes of his own, slicing into the In-Birth's arms. Gordeau landed a kick into Qrow's side and swung his scythe into a massive arc, catching the Huntsman on the chest.
Hardly scratched, Qrow simply opted to grab Qrow's scythe and pull him towards him, landing a heavy punch to the Reaper's face and kncoking him to the ground. Qrow's weapon went into sword mode and swung at Gordeau, who rolled out of the way and used his scythe to block the follow up.
"You're pretty skilled, Qrow!" Gordeau complimented.
Gordeau turned his scythe to lock Qrow's blade in place and swept his legs, sending the huntsman to the ground.
"But fighting while drunk turns you into an amateur. Go home, we can talk about this tomorrow."
The huntsman wasn't giving up though. He seemingly disappeared into thin air momentarily, making the bartender look around bewildered. He hopped back over the bar and continued his search, stopping in front of a giant wooden shelf, thinking that Qrow did take his advice and went home.
But behind him, up above on top of the shelf, a single raven looked down at him, cocking his head. As if it was due to being old, the nails holding the shelf to the wall came on done, and the whole thing went crashing down onto Gordeau, pinning him underneath. The raven flew down and turned into Qrow, who placed his foot onto Gordeau's chest.
"I'll ask you again, buddy, where are they?" he insisted.
"I already told you! I don't know!" Gordeau yelled, receiving a sudden boost in power and pushing the drunk man off him along with any debris. Gordeau took a moment to mourn his job but turned back to face his foe, pissed off.
Qrow stood up to laugh at him but got gut checked by his enemy, sending him wheezing to the floor again. Gordeau threw him across the bar top and back onto the main floor, following him with his Demon Sickle. Gordeau prepared the bring the blade down upon Qrow, but at the most inopportune time, a lighting fixture fell and slammed Gordeau in the head.
While stunned, Qrow took the opportunity to tackle the bartender out the exit and onto the streets of the city, leaving Gordeau's coworkers to clean up the mess.
Gordeau threw the Huntsman off of him and into a brick wall, pinning him with the blade of his scythe.
"Maybe if you sobered up you'd be able to land a couple of blows that MATTERED!" Gordeau shouted as he threw Qrow into a fire hydrant, setting it off.
Qrow got a face full of water, sobering him up quite a bit. He stood to his feet, soaking wet, and wiped his face off. "Well, Gordy, you gotta be careful what you wish for."
Gordeau gripped his scythe, but before he could blink the huntsman was in his face once more.
"What the fu-" Gordeau muttered before a blade dug into his stomach. Skillfully, and gracefully, Qrow converted the stab into a drop kick, sending the bartender sprawling across the ground.
Both men smiled, as they finally found a fight worth both their time.
Rushing Heart - Under Night In-Birth
Gordeau glided along the ground towards his foe's face, while Qrow swung his scythe right at the approaching Reaper. They locked blades, sparks flying in the air as they tried to overpower the other. Qrow stomped on Gordeau's foot and transformed his weapon into its shotgun form, blasting the In-Birth right in the chest, drawing blood. Gordeau sprung forward with his nails outstretched, trying to take a piece of Qrow's soul. The huntsman dodged and roundhouse kicked his hand away.
"You got a pretty gnarly looking Semblance there, Gordy."
Gordeau scoffed and swung his scythe in a wide arc towards Qrow, who barely dodged. The Demon Sickle found itself lodged in a wall and stuck.
"What the hell is WRONG with this thing?" he yelled. On the other side of the wall, the scythe was stuck in several objects. Qrow ran up with his weapon in sword mode, but Gordeau, in a fit of rage, grabbed the blade with his nails and chucked it across the street.
Qrow took a moment to assess the situation and put his dukes up. He landed a heavy blow right in Gordeau's face, stunning him breifly before landing a hook to his stomach. Gordeau grabbed his arm and pulled him off balance, leg sweeping him as he went by. Gordeau grabbed Qrow by the neck and repeatedly bashed his face into the pavement, scratching his face up. The downed Hunstman reached back and grabbed Gordeau's arm and tossed him to the side.
Gordeau fell back onto the handle of the Demon Sickle as Qrow ran by with a lariat, sending him over the handle and face first into the ground. Qrow laughed a bit and walked back over to his weapon and picked it up, while Gordeau was finally able to free his own from the wall. Qrow ran with his sword trailing behind him, ready to swing, but Gordeau's long reaching scythe caught him in the side and tossed him into a nearby building.
After clearing through the brick, Qrow transformed into his Raven form and hid while Gordeau stepped in to search around. No sign of Qrow, but old papers lined the room, and a boiler sat in the corner of the room. Gordeau refused to let his guard drop for he knew Qrow was in there somewhere. And right he was.
The huntsman dropped down from above, bur Gordeau quickly turned to punt him into the boiler, denting it, and causing steam to fill the air. Gordeau shielded his eyes, but Qrow went to work repeatedly slashing at his enemy, drawing blood with every slash. The Reaper swung wildly, landing a stray hit on Qrow.
"GOTCHA!"
Gordeau quickly turned in that direction and landed multiple twirls of his scythe on Qrow before landing one final massive slice on him, sending him through another wall and out onto the streets again. As he flew mid air, he tossed his sword into the ground and landed on it, breaking his fall.
As Gordeau began to walk outside, the boiler began to hiss loudly, catching his attention.
"Oh shi-" he began, but was drowned out by the massive explosion that sent him flying towards Qrow, who swung his scythe upwards, piercing the Reaper's upper body.
Gordeau went limp, and the Demon Sickle disappeared. Qrow sighed and removed his weapon from his downed foe's body and blood began to pool around him. As he turned to walk away, he felt a hand grip his leg. He looked down to see Gordeau's hand tighten around his ankle, and the wound in his torso closing.
"The hell?"
The Reaper looked up with a crazed look in his eyes.
"I'm immortal, Qrow!"
What do you fight for - Guilty Gear Strive
Qrow's eyes widened as the Reaper's long nails dug into him and ripped out a piece of his aura itself. Qrow fell to his knees and glared up at his foe.
"What did you do?" he demanded, gripping his stomach.
"I noticed you were using your soul as a barrier of sorts. If you did know who I was, you should've known what I do."
He then slammed the Demon Sickle down on the ground, scooping up his foe, and tossed him into a wall.
"You're a god damn monster!" Qrow yelled out.
"No, Qrow. I's just business."
Gordeau walked towards Qrow, who tried to get up and get away. The Reaper's hand began to glow bright with energy as he got closer to the Huntsman. He backhanded him, and then dug his claws deep into Qrow's stomach, who screamed in pain.
Like a sadist, Gordeau placed his hand over Qrow's mouth as he ripped his very soul out of his body. Qrow went limp almost immediately, but Gordeau wasn't finished. He kicked his body up into the air and spun his scythe around, landing a massive blow on the body, erasing it from existence.
KO!
He sat back down on the curb, absolutely exhausted from the fight he had just endured. The cops were called to the bar he HAD worked at. It was a minor set back, but he could just go off and work somewhere else with a clean slate. He did feel bad for Ruby though.
Results:[]
Boomstick: Ho-lee-shit!
Wiz: While this fight looks rather close on paper, Qrow had many things going against him. But let's start with the things that went in his favor. First off, Qrow is debatably more skilled than Qrow as he's been trained by many people and has fought more people with more various fighting styles.
Boomstick: On top of that, Qrow's ability to turn into a bird would help him take a break from the fight to survey his surroundings, and his Semblance, while not deadly, would be a complete nuisance to Qrow.
Wiz: And that's a nuisance at BEST. That's where the advantages end. Gordeau is able to tank Linne's God Mower and hits from Waldstein, and on top of that he's able to react to beams of pure light. Even if you could scale Qrow to his sister, he may have had the strength advantage, but he still wouldn't compare in speed.
Boomstick: Even then both the Devourer and Snatcher take pieces of the soul away for Gordeau to use himself, and AURA is a projection of the soul. Just by doing his basic bullshit Gordeau would have taken away Qrow's defenses easily even with a strength difference.
Wiz: Then there's the fact that Gordeau himself, being an In-Birth, is immortal. Without away to erase Gordeau from existence, Qrow would have no chance of winning anyway.
Boomstick: In the end, Qrow qrowked.
Wiz: The winner is Gordeau.
