History[]
Princess Luna is one of two regal sisters who ruled together and created harmony for all of Equestria. Luna believed that her subjects, the ponies, played in the day but "shunned" the night and slept through it, which made Luna grow bitter. Eventually, this jealousy made Luna refusing to lower the moon to make way for the dawn. Her bitterness "transformed her into a wicked mare of darkness: Nightmare Moon. Without any other choices, Celestia was forced to use the Elements of Harmony and banish her sister to the moon.
Nightmare Moon was eventually able to escape and stopped the sun from rising. However, the Mane 6 once again used the Elements of Harmony on her, and she was rid of the jealousy in her heart, turning back to Luna.
