History[]
Aladdin[]
Jasmine is the daughter of the Sultan of Agrabah. Her mother died when Jasmine was young, but used to read her stories about a magical "star tiger" named Rajah. As such, when she found a tiger cub, Jasmine decided that it was a gift from her mother, and she named him Rajah.
Being a royal princess, Jasmine was forbidden to leave the sheltering walls of the palace, so she grew up very sheltered, but also very spoiled. Agrabah's laws declared that when she came of age Jasmine must marry a prince. However, none of the princess that could be found measured up to Jasmine's wants and needs.
Jasmine snuck out of the palace one day, and met a street urchin named Aladdin. She was later found by the Sultan's guards, and returned to the palace, where she was informed that Aladdin was executed for kidnapping her. Now, if anything, she was even angrier at her father, and his vizier, Jafar.
When another suitor showed up to try to win her hand, she was surprised to find out that it was the young man she had met in the city, who now appeared to be a prince named Ali Ababwa. Using his flying carpet, and natural charm, he won her heart, and Jasmine decided that she would marry him.
However, after returning to the palace, Jasmine was shocked when her father ordered her instead to marry Jafar. When Ali showed up, and exposed Jafar as a magician manipulating the Sultan, Jafar fled, and Jasmine and Ali announced their love for each other, and the Sultan gave his blessing for their marriage.
The next day, however, during the engagement announcement, Jafar returned with a powerful Genie, expelled Ali (now exposed to be nothing more than a lying street urchin), and imprisoned Jasmine and her father. Life for Jasmine became a nightmare of servitude to the loathsome Jafar, until Aladdin returned, expelled Jafar, and freed the Genie.
In gratitude, the Sultan declared that Jasmine could marry whomever she wished, and she chose Aladdin.
