Polnareff VS Rei is a what-if Death Battle by Unbacked0. It features Jean Pierre Polnareff from the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series and Rei from the Fist of the North Star series in a battle.
Description[]
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure VS Fist of the North Star! A battle between two of Shōnen Jump's most popular most trustworthy allies who seek their revenge.
Introduction[]
Wiz: In this world, the mighty often abuse their status and power in unjust manners to get what they want.
Boomstick: Lucky for us, there are beefy badasses who are willing to look out for the little guy. Like Polnareff, member of the Stardust Crusaders...
Wiz: And Rei, the Star of Justice.
Boomstick: He's Wiz, and I'm Boomstick.
Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armour and skills to find out who would win... a Death Battle.
Polnareff[]
Wiz: Deep in the heart of the French countryside, there lived a pair of orphans named Jean-Pierre and Sherry Polnareff. Despite not having any parents, the two lived a happy, normal life.
Boomstick: That was until Sherry was killed by a mysterious man. The only thing Jean-Pierre knew was that his sister's killer had two right hands.
Wiz: And so Polnareff set off with the limited information that he had to avenge his sister's murder, journeying across the entire world in the process.
Boomstick: It was going great until he met a vampire named DIO, full caps, who said he'd tell Polnareff who the mystery killer was if he worked for him. It was a good idea until it wasn't and DIO mind-controlled Polnareff into fighting against DIO's enemies.
Wiz: Luckily enough, Polnareff would be freed of his control and he would join the group, both out of a sense of justice but also because he knew it would be the only way to find his sister's killer, becoming a member of the Stardust Crusaders.
Background:
- Full Name: Jean Pierre Polnareff
- Age: 22 (Part 3), 36 (Part 5)
- Height: 185cm (6'½"), With hair - 193cm (6'3")
- Weight: 78kg (172 lbs)
- Member of the Stardust Crusaders
Boomstick: And while he'd be hot-headed and would fall into every trap that DIO's men set for him, Polnareff would be a star player for the group.
Wiz: While Polnareff's stubborn nature and buff body were notable, the thing that attracted Polnareff to both DIO and the Stardust Crusaders was that he was a Stand User.
Boomstick: And Polnareff got one of the better ones, Silver Chariot.
Stand: Silver Chariot:
- Physical manifestation of Polnareff's fighting spirit.
- Represents and is named after the Chariot Tarot card.
- Humanoid Close-ranged type Stand.
- Can't be seen by non-Stand Users or attacked by non-Stands.
- Wields a rapier.
- Can shoot rapier blade as a projectile.
- Can remove armour to increase speed.
Wiz: Named after the Chariot Tarot card, Silver Chariot is a close-range Stand that Polnareff has complete control over. It's like an invisible knightly ghost that Polnareff can summon from his body at any time. It cannot be seen non-Stand Users with even ghosts who are apparently on the same wavelength as Stands can't see them and anything that isn't a Stand cannot harm a Stand.
Boomstick: Since it's a knight, Silver Chariot has a mean sword that he uses to stab and slice pretty much anyone in his way or even be shot out like a gun and it even has armour to protect it from the attacks that can hit it.
Wiz: This armour can be removed, reducing Silver Chariots defence but vastly increasing its already ludicrously impressive speeds.
Feats:
- Managed to cut a beam of light as it was moving between objects.
- Blocked a barrage of light beams from The Sun Stand.
- Fought on par with Jotaro Kujo and Star Platinum.
- Killed Devo, J. Geil, Chaka and Vanilla Ice.
- Stabbed through DIO's head.
Boomstick: Speed is kinda Silver Chariot's game, even with its armour on. It's able to block bullets, match Star Platinum's insane speeds and even cut a Stand that was moving at the speed of light.
Wiz: This is contentious seeing as Polnareff needed to lure Hanged Man to a specific location in order for Silver Chariot to hit it, however, seeing as Silver Chariot moved in front of Hanged Man and managed to slash, it would need to be faster than light in order to perform the feat.
Boomstick: And there are other faster-than-light feats in the series like blocking beams of light from The Sun Stand, with even Star Platinum being directly stated to be able to move faster than light, even without his time stop. And all of this is without Silver Chariot taking off its armour which makes it so fast that Jotaro, who can see Silver Chariot's movements, couldn't even react to it.
Wiz: This level of speed lends to Silver Chariot being strong enough to damage Star Platinum and even stab through DIO's head.
Boomstick: And Star Platinum is strong enough to breathe in an entire town's worth of fog and is stronger than Stone Free who was able to deflect a high-speed meteor.
Wiz: The latter of which would have at least 100 kilotons of force behind it and Stone Free, a Stand weaker than Silver Chariot, was able to block it just fine.
Boomstick: Even on his own, Polnareff is a smart fighter who can come up with decent plans like noticing where an enemy is hiding by quickly seeing a room, using broken mirrors to get a better look at the environment and even making Silver Chariot accurately reflecting his sword shot off of a stone pillar and into a dude's neck without killing him.
Wiz: Using all of these skills, Polnareff was finally able to kill his sister's killer, J. Geil. Instead of using this as an excuse to leave the group, Polnareff decided to continue on his mission with the group to kill DIO out of his sense of justice.
Weaknesses:
- Any damage dealt to Silver Chariot damages Polnareff.
- Polnareff is far weaker than his Stand.
- Silver Chariot becomes weaker the further it is from Polnareff.
- Silver Chariot has to retrieve the rapier blade if it's shot from its hilt.
Boomstick: Being a badass Stand User has its own issues, any damage a Stand takes is also damage taken by the User and the other way round. Also, Silver Chariot's limited range means it can't go more than a few metres from Polnareff without getting a lot weaker.
Wiz: Even if it could, that would be a bad idea since Polnareff himself isn't much of a fighter. He has strength that is stronger than even most peak humans, however, beyond that he is only a human who occasionally has bouts of strategic thinking.
Boomstick: And that's not talking about the biggest issue, Silver Chariot is a sword fighter, if the sword is broken or the blade is, I dunno, not attached to his sword after shooting it out, then he loses access to most of his fighting ability.
Wiz: Despite it all, Polnareff managed to fight his way to DIO himself, not without losses, and even managed to survive, being one of the three members of the group to do so. Polnareff would spend the rest of his life fighting against the ramifications of DIO's action and even end up working with DIO's son to stop a crimelord who was affecting all of Europe.
Boomstick: It just goes to show that you can't keep a good man down.
Rei[]
Wiz: Wandering the nuclear wasteland, there are roaming bandits and martial artists who wish to stake their claim over the new world. But there also exists a hero, a man with a cloak and a simple name on a quest for revenge against.
Boomstick: His name is Rei and boy, if you're a bandit and happen to see him, you'd better hope you can run faster than he can, or you're going to be cut into more pieces than you have bones.
Background:
- Full Name: Rei
- Age: Likely 20's
- Height: 183 cm (6'0")
- Weight: 99 kg (218 lbs)
- Master of Nanto Suichōken
Wiz: Before the nuclear war that destroyed the world, Rei was a simple martial artist who lived a simple but nice life with his sister, Airi, the only family in the world.
Boomstick: So after the nuclear war ruined everything, Rei swore to protect her. That was until their camp was raided and his sister was taken away from him.
Wiz: The only thing Rei knew about his sister's kidnapper was that he bore seven scars in the shape of the Big Dipper across his chest.
Boomstick: *gasp* But that would mean he was kidnapped by Kenshiro!
Wiz: He wasn't, instead she was captured by Kenshiro's older brother, Jagi who wanted to ruin his younger brother's life by framing him for countless crimes.
Boomstick: And when Rei and Kenshiro met to kill a local bandit camp, the two became friendly enough to want to kill Kenshiro's brother like all best friends do. And luckily for both of them, Rei is kind of badass with his martial arts.
Martial Art: Nanto Seiken:
- Martial arts based around cutting with chi-infused hands.
- The opposite of Hokuto Shinken.
- Can slice a normal person to pieces in seconds.
- Negates limited regeneration.
- Allows users to shoot out slashing waves of chi.
- Chi can be used to make forcefields.
- Rei uses Nanto Suichōken which focuses on swift and acrobatic movements.
Wiz: Rei is a master of Nanto Seiken, a martial art that focuses on turning its user's body into a walking blade with a single slash of their hands being able to carve a person's body into a pile of gore and viscera in seconds, making it the opposite of Hokuto Shinken which destroys people from the inside rather than Nanto Seiken which destroys an opponent from the outside.
Boomstick: Nanto Seiko lets Rei become a walking blender which is really fitting considering he basically turns everyone he ever beats into juice.
Wiz: Rei specialises in Nanto Suichōken, a version of Nanto Seiken that focuses on agile movements, letting the user cut an opponent before they can react or allowing Rei to practically fly using simple leaps, letting him cut an opponent apart both in mid-air or by descending down onto them.
Boomstick: It also gives Rei other neat abilities like being able to shoot chi beams from his hands that also cut people and make a forcefield to block powerful attacks from people as strong as he is. And Rei's a master of this martial art to the point that he can cut through a hostage and only hit the person holding them.
Feats:
- Killed Yuda, Jagi (game canon only) and almost killed Raoh.
- Fought on par with Kenshiro and Rofu.
- Stood in place for three days straight.
- Withstood pain that would drive a normal person insane.
Wiz: With all these skills, Rei was a natural survivor of the post-apocalypse. Rei was an unstoppable force which could easily kill entire bandit camps without any issues and is even strong enough to slice a massive temple into pieces.
Boomstick: But Rei's best showings are when he fights against other badasses like Kenshiro and Jagi.
Wiz: The latter of which was able to tank getting hit by a nuclear explosion that was as large as a country, and Rei was able to kill Jagi with ease and he even managed to fight on equal footing with Kenshiro who is way stronger.
Boomstick: That's not all, Rei's strongest attack was going to kill Raoh who bodied Kenshiro in their first fight.
Wiz: Rei's also really fast, he scales to characters like Juzo who could casually dodge attacks from Garuda, whose entire martial arts is about attacking at the speed of light.
Boomstick: But his best skill his his sheer stubborn determination, Rei is able to stand on a pole for three days straight without any food or water and survive walking across the barren wasteland for months without anything to eat or drink aside from the things he stole from dead bandits.
Weaknesses:
- Nanto Suichōken becomes weaker if Rei can't move his legs.
- Rei's strongest attack will use all of his life force.
- Rei is willing to put himself through agony and death to do what's right.
Boomstick: Yet despite Rei being a great fighter, he's still got his fair share of weaknesses. While techniques like the Resolute Mutual Death Fist are some of Rei's strongest moves, they also leads to him using his own life force and dying.
Wiz: The effectiveness of Nanto Suichōken is based on Rei's movements and leaping abilities so restricting his movements can severely limit his ability to fight such as when Yuda flooded the arena, using the water to halt Rei.
Boomstick: That didn't stop Rei from saving his sister from Jagi with Kenshiro's help, finding his own love interest and battling against more tyrants in the wasteland.
Wiz: However, this was ultimately what led to Rei's fate, he was dealt a blow to his pressure point by Raoh that left Rei with only a week left to live. Rei didn't want to waste his final days so he let Toki strike one of his pressure points, putting Rei through intense agony so he could live for a few days longer, just so he could kill the slave owner who captured his love interest.
Boomstick: And once he was done, Rei chose to die in secret, out of everyone's sight.
Wiz: While Rei might have died, the people he saved continued to live on in his spirit.
Pre-Fight[]
Wiz: Alright the combatants are set, and we've run the data through all possibilities. Let's end this debate once and for all.
Boomstick: It's time for a DEATH BATTLEEEEE!!!
Fight[]
The scene opens on a barren and dishevelled bar. Polnareff walked into the bar and looked around at all the patrons. Eventually, he settled his eyes on a woman wrapped in a pink cloak, only a part of her face, a bit of her blue hair and one of her hands were visible. Polnareff walks over to her.
Polnareff: "Excuse mademoiselle, would you mind coming with me for a moment?"
The cloaked woman simply nodded and stood up before following Polnareff as he walked out of a bar and down an alley of the dishevelled town.
Polnareff: "So how long are you going to keep up your act, sir?"
As Polnareff spoke, he quickly turned around to see the "woman" throw off her cloak, revealing themselves to be Rei.
Rei: "So you saw through my disguise, clearly you're a lot smarter than most of the bandits I've fought."
Rei spoke as he stepped towards Polnareff.
Polnareff: "I'm a ladies' man, I'd never fall for a bad disguise."
Polnareff boasted as he gestured with his hands, Rei noticed that Polnareff wasn't keeping up his guard or getting into a stance.
Rei: "At least I know my disguise got the right type of person. Now I've got to ask you, have you seen a man with seven scars?"
Rei asked as he moved his arms into his Nanto Suichōken fighting stance.
Polnareff: "Maybe I have, I'll answer if you tell me something, do you know anything about a man with two right hands?"
Polnareff asked as he stepped back, waiting to see if Rei was a Stand User and what its effect would be.
Rei: "You're clearly not taking me seriously, I'll let my fists finish you."
Rei then leapt high into the air and swooped down towards Polnareff, ready to cut his head off with his hands.
Fight!
Before Rei's fingers could brush at Polnareff's head, Polnareff summoned Silver Chariot from his body and instantly had it slash at Rei's hand, the two blades clashed and halted each other.
Polnareff & Rei: "What!?"
Both Polnareff and Rei were surprised. From Rei's perspective, his hand clashed with the air before stopping and from Polnareff's perspective, Silver Chariot's blade didn't even cut one of Rei's fingers.
Rei pushed with his hand, leaping backwards. Silver Chariot followed after Rei and started to rapidly thrust his rapier into Rei's back, poking holes in Rei's closes and drawing a slight amount of blood.
When Rei landed on his feet, he swung his arm forward, shooting out a wide horizontal wave of chi at Polnareff. Polnareff had Silver Chariot fly down in front of him to protect him. The wave connected with Silver Chariot, nullifying the attack as the rest of the wave flew past Polnareff, cutting a horizontal slash across the wall around Polnareff.
Rei was even more confused, his attacks had seemingly
Rei: "What kind of martial art lets you weaponise the wind?"
Rei thought allowed, loud enough for Polnareff to hear who realised right then that his opponent wasn't even a Stand User at all.
Polnareff: "If you don't have a Stand then you're hopeless."
Polnareff boasted while brushing his hair with his hands.
Rei: "I don't know how you're blocking me but I'm getting really sick of it."
Rei said before rushing down Polnareff. Polnareff summoned Silver Chariot and had it rapidly stab at Rei, causing minor puncture wounds across his upper torso and face, however, this didn't stop Rei who leapt high into the air and pushed his hands towards Polnareff as he fell.
Silver Chariot quickly flew up and tried to stab Rei, however, it was blocked by an invisible barrier. Once Rei saw minor impacts hit his forcefield, he pushed off of the forcefield and behind Polnareff. Rei quickly jabbed with his hands over and over again, trying to bypass Polnareff's invisible defence.
Polnareff turned around in time to see Rei and summoned Silver Chariot, making sure to strike at Rei's hands to stop him from killing Polnareff. As this clash was happening, Polnareff would kick some sand up at Rei's face, causing some of it to go in Rei's eye and temporarily blind him.
Polnareff: "Now, Silver Chariot!"
Now that Rei couldn't see, Polnareff commanded Silver Chariot to stab and slash at Rei's neck, hoping to pierce it and either incapacitate or kill him. Its blade connected with Rei's skin, however, it didn't penetrate any deeper than a few millimetres. Rei merely brushed his fingers against the slight amount of blood dripping down it.
Polnareff: "What are you made of?"
He asked. Polnareff's mind began to race for ideas of how to overcome Rei's defences.
Rei: "I'm clearly made of sterner stuff than you are. Now do yourself a favour and fall to my Nanto Seiken!"
Rei ran forward with a slash, Silver Chariot blocked the first attack, however, when Rei felt his hand get cut, he instantly spun around and dashed behind Polnareff, going to stab his spin. Rei's hand pushed forward, connecting with Polnareff's back but he couldn't move them any further than past his fingertips, not being able to see Silver Chariot's blade holding back the attack by placing itself between Rei's middle and ring finger.
Rei felt an invisible blade pushing in between his two fingers, lightly cutting into his skin. Polnareff stepped forward, removing himself from Rei's fingers before turning around to taunt.
Polnareff: "You'll have to try harder than that to kill me."
Rei flicked the small amount of blood he drew from Polnareff off of his fingers and onto the floor before taunting back.
Rei: "Then I'll show you just how out of your league you are."
Rei moved his arms around, producing afterimages with every slight movement and leaving a trail of chi from his fingers. In an instant, Rei began to spin around while moving closer and closer to Polnareff, cutting the very air itself as he moved.
Polnareff: "Alright, Silver Chariot. Armour Off!"
Polnareff commanded Silver Chariot to pop its armour off, launching the ghostly metal slabs off of its body and dramatically increasing its speed to the point that it appeared to be in multiple places at the same time.
Silver Chariot flew at the spinning Rei and stabbed him as he spun from every angle possible. From Rei's perspective, it felt like his entire body was being stabbed by tiny needles from every direction, each tiny stab was drawing a trace amount of blood, however, it was slowly whittling him down and removing the limited amount of blood he had in his body.
Eventually, Rei stopped and hopped backwards, out of Silver Chariot's range. Blood was dripping from practically every pore of Rei's skin, however, Rei didn't seem terribly injured or even bothered by the injuries he had sustained as Rei kept in his Nanto Suichōken stance.
Polnareff: "Yeesh, are you a vampire?"
Polnareff asked, beginning to run out of ways to explain Rei's supernatural strength and endurance.
Rei: "Heh, don't be ridiculous."
Rei brushed off Polnareff's comment as he leapt into the air and began to swing his arms down, shooting wave after wave of chi waves at Polnareff.
Polnareff looked up at the oncoming projectiles that were all falling down on top of each other and had Silver Chariot block them by rapidly thrusting and slashing his sword at them, deflecting the attacks with Silver Chariot's precision.
Once Rei landed, he saw that Polnareff was completely unharmed and untouched by any of his chi attacks.
Polnareff: "Heh, those attacks can't hurt me but they make for a fine chisel."
Polnareff said as he pointed to a wall on the left. Silver Chariot's speed and precision had made it so it could use all of the deflected chi waves as a way to carve two stone statues out of the nearby wall, the two statues being both Polnareff and Rei with most of their feature being rendered down to the tiniest detail.
Rei: "Tch, show off."
Rei was impressed by the craftsmanship but still very much annoyed that he was being toyed with and that his attacks were being blocked by an invisible force that he couldn't see.
Polnareff: "I'll take that as a compliment from the man who flies with each hop."
Polnareff then chose to go on the offensive himself, taking advantage of Rei's blindness to Silver Chariot, he rapidly stabbed at Rei's face, leaving small cuts all across it.
Rei backflipped away once he felt the cuts form before leaping to his left to the nearby wall, performing a wall kick and launching himself at Polnareff. Rei landed a dropkick on Polnareff's chest, before the kick could launch him away, Rei swung his arms down to take over Polnareff's head.
The moment that Polnareff saw the razor-sharp fingers coming at him, Silver Chariot batted away one hand at a time, knocking them out of range of Polnareff's neck and allowing him to stumble backwards without much injury. Polnareff, however, did feel a bruise from where Rei kicked him, the kick wasn't a Nanto Seiken technique and wasn't meant to cut him, however, it was still a powerful kick from someone with strength far beyond Polnareff's.
Polnareff clutched his injury and stepped back, his mind rushing to think of anything that could potentially help him last even a second longer as Rei approached him. Polnareff's eyes drifted down to the sand by his feet that was moving with the blowing wind.
In an instant, Polnareff came up with a plan. He summoned Silver Chariot and had it point its sword up before moving its arm around.
Silver Chariot began to swing its sword around widely in a circular motion, kicking up all the sand in the area in order to form a miniature sandstorm localised in this alley. This sandstorm started to blind Rei, making it hard for him to see Polnareff.
Rei stumbled through the storm, blocking his eyes from the sand with his arms. Every so often Rei would receive small cuts from nowhere, the attacks clearly coming from Silver Chariot, however, Rei couldn't see it. Eventually, Rei saw the faint silhouette of Polnareff and immediately dashed towards it, readying one of his hands with chi before jabbing directly into it.
Once Rei's hand stabbed into his target, instead of warm blood and flesh, he felt cold, hard stone. What Rei had actually stabbed was the statue that Polnareff had made earlier.
Rei heard a small clap followed by the sound of heavy breathing.
Polnareff: *Huff* "Nice work, if I don't say so myself."
Polnareff was starting to tire from the drawn-out fight and the kick that Rei had delivered earlier, he had been trying to find out what Rei's weakness was through all of his distractions and games of keep away, however, all it was resulting in was minor injuries and a small amount of bloodless, nothing that would knock Rei down for long.
Rei noticed that both of them were starting to get worn down by the fight and that neither of them had made any actual progress in finishing the other off.
Rei: "Why don't we finish this once and for all?"
Rei said as he pointed his arm at Polnareff as if it were a sword.
Polnareff: "Why not, thinking isn't exactly my most charming feature."
Polnareff pointed his arm at Rei in turn, Silver Chariot doing the same with the arm that held its sword.
Rei performed a backflip high into the air, landing on the roof of a nearby two-storey building.
Rei: "It's time to finish this."
Rei performed a handstand on the roof before pushing himself off of it and into the air before spreading his arms out, ready to perform one of Nanto Suichōken's signature techniques.
Rei: "Nanto Hishō Hakurei!"
Rei swooped down at Polnareff. As Rei was falling, Polnareff tried a last-ditch effort to finish Rei off by shooting Silver Chariot's sword directly at Rei's chest. The sword flew into Rei's chest, stabbing a few inches in his chest but not dealing major damage or stopping Rei's attack.
As Rei fell, he swung his arms down at Polnareff's shoulders, instantly connecting and digging in deep. Rei's arms were fully embedded into each side of Polnareff's head, his arms reaching all the way down to his internal organs, cutting them apart instantly. Polnareff reached up to Rei's arms and clutched onto them before speaking.
Polnareff: "You-You're something else..." *Cough*
Polnareff spoke as he coughed up some blood, the image of Silver Chariot fading from Polnareff's view.
Rei: "Before you die, tell me this. Who is that man with two right hands you spoke of?"
Polnareff: "He's the man... Who killed my sister..."
Polnareff finished speaking before his hands lost their grip and he fell backwards, all the life had left his body. Before his body hit the floor, Rei caught him before laying him down.
Rei: "Sister, huh... You really were a kindred spirit..."
Rei said as he walked off into the desert, now with a second target in the back of his mind to kill.
Results[]
K.O.
Rei is seen walking off into the sunset.
Boomstick: Damn this fight was manly as hell.
Wiz: This fight was interesting as both Rei and Polnareff had major advantages over the other.
Boomstick: Let's start small, Polnareff was a smarter fighter as opposed to Rei who was just a simple martial artist who lives in a world where he basically kills ninety percent of the people he fights with one move.
Wiz: This allowed Polnareff to negate pretty much all of Rei's attacks if he could have Silver Chariot block them, something that was very easy considering the speed gap between Silver Chariot and Rei. While Rei was faster than light, Silver Chariot was calculated to be hundreds of times faster than that.
Boomstick: But this really didn't help Polnareff that much since he couldn't hurt Rei at all with any of his attacks since Rei was so much more durable.
Wiz: By scaling to Jagi surviving a nuclear explosion, Rei would be able to tank attacks worth more than a Terraton of TNT with Stone Free's meteor deflecting feat only being worth four hundred Kilotons of TNT, being over a million times weaker. This meant that Rei only needed to hit Polnareff once to secure his victory.
Boomstick: So one was far too durable to be harmed and the other was far too fast to get attacked so it came down to the wire to determine who would win.
Wiz: Which left us with one question, who could outlast the other. Once this was the question that was left, it became obvious that Rei would win.
Boomstick: Rei had enough stamina to stand on a pole for days on end without sleep, food or water and even survived a pain so great that it would drive a normal person mad.
Wiz: This is opposed to Polnareff who has no such showings of stamina and has actively been shown to be crippled by large injuries to his body such as his fight with Vanilla Ice.
Boomstick: Polnareff was just too human for him to really be able to beat someone like Rei and it's not like his intellect could really make him find a way to win.
Wiz: While Polnareff was an incredibly smart and fast fighter, Rei's sheer strength and stamina basically guaranteed that he would always be the last one left in a drawn-out battle, giving Rei the perfect chance to finish Polnareff off.
Boomstick: And in the end, Polnareff just couldn't Stand it.
Wiz: The winner is Rei.
Winner: Rei:
- + Far stronger.
- + Couldn't be harmed by Polnareff.
- + Far greater stamina and pain tolerance.
- - Slower.
Loser: Polnareff:
- + Silver Chariot was far faster.
- + Rei couldn't see or harm Silver Chariot.
- + Smarter fighter.
- - Could be one-shot by Rei.
- - Couldn't fight on his own.
Next Time on Death Battle...[]
Kazuma Kiryu: "Leading the Tojo Clan's a heavy cross to bear. It's time you learn just how heavy."
Kaoru Hanayama: "Because an Otokodachi without any scars... Isn't an Otokodachi at all."
Kazuma Kiryu VS Kaoru Hanayama!
Trivia[]
Connections:
- Both are major supporting characters in 80's Shonen Jump Manga.
- Both are known for being honourable fighters who primarily fight with cutting attacks.
- Both have younger sisters who are their main motivation for being on their journey and joining up with the main character (To save Rei's kidnapped sister and to avenge Polnareff's dead sister).
- Both are seeking mysterious men whom they identify based on notable bodily features (Jagi's distinct chest scars and J. Geil's two right hands).
- Both are parts of groups named after Stars (the Stardust Crusaders for Polnareff and the Nanto Roku Sei Ken/Six Holy Fists of South Dipper for Rei).
Original Track[]
The track for this fight would be called "Lone Star in the Knight Sky". The name is a pun on knight for Silver Chariot which is a knight and the star and night sky for Rei who is represented by a star. The lone part is based on both Polnaref and Rei being lone warriors when they are first introduced.
Q&A[]
Jagi's durability feat is from a side manga that's not 100% canon, why use that feat?
- Aside from being one of the better feats in the series, it applies to Jagi who is one of the weaker characters in the franchise, meaning that Rei would scale far above it.
Would Rei still win if the feat was not used?
- Absolutely, the lower-tier feats in Fist of the North Star are far higher than the higher feats in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
Why use Garuda's light-speed statement rather than an on-screen feat?
- Two reasons: one, Garuda is a mid-tier fighter that Rei could reasonably scale to and, two, since Silver Chariot was always going to be faster, giving Rei the highest speed scaling he could get with it being slower than Silver Chariot's mid-tier speed feats would best prove this.
Would you want to see these characters fight in an actual crossover?
- Absolutely, and it should have happened by now.
How likely do you think this will become an actual Death Battle?
- It's fairly likely due to how popular Polnareff is and how Rei is one of Polnareff's more popular match-ups.
