Paul vs. Gary Oak is a What-If Death Battle created by Venage237. This fan made Death Battle features Paul and Gary Oak from the Pokémon Anime. This Following Death Battle will also feature six of their strongest Pokémon.
In this Death Battle, Paul will be using his Torterra, Ursaring, Electivire, Honchkrow, Aggron, and Magmortar.
Gary Oak on the other hand will be using his Blastoise, Umbreon, Electivire, Arcanine, Nidoqueen, and Scizor.
Description[]
During his travels across the multiple Pokémon Region, Ash Ketchum has encounter his fair share of rivals. And these two are debatably his strongest. But which one is truly Ash's Rival? Ash's Sinnoh Region Rival, or Ash's Childhood Rival?
Interlude[]
Wiz: Ash Ketchum has traveled through several different regions. Making friends, capturing Pokémon, Winning a few battles, and losing a couple, and in process of all that, made several rivals.
Boomstick: But out of all the rivals, these two are debatably his strongest. Paul, Ash's Sinnoh Region rival.
Wiz: And Gary Oak, the childhood rival of Ash, and grandson of Professor Oak. In this Death Battle these two Pokémon Trainers will bring forth six of their strongest Pokémon, and the one who is last standing will be the victory. In Paul's case he will be using his Torterra, Ursaring, Electivire, Honchkrow, Aggron, and Magmortar.
Boomstick: And in Gary's case, he will be using his Blastoise, Umbreon, HIS Electivire, Arcanine, Nidoqueen, and Scizor.
Wiz: With that said, I'm Wizard, and he's Boomstick.
Boomstick: And it's out job to analyze their weapons, armor and skills to find out who will win a Death Battle.
Paul[]
Wiz: Before we get to the actual analysis, we'd like to point out that we will talk about the trainer first, and then we talk about their six Pokémon separately. With that said let's start off with Ash's Sinnoh Region rival Paul.
Boomstick: Paul is a, for a lack of a better term, a prick! Born somewhere in Veilstone City, Paul is the younger brother of Reggie. After witnessing his brother losing to the Pyramid King Brandon, Paul set out on a journey to become stronger than any trainer he encountered.
Wiz: This resulted in Paul becoming a very cold a callous 10 year old. He's shown that he cares about the strength of his Pokémon and nothing else. As such, Paul can be very cruel towards his Pokémon, especially when they lose.
Boomstick: And if they lose too many times, or if he deems them weak, then Paul releases the Pokémon and leave them to fend for themselves. What an asshole!
Wiz: But when he does encounter Pokémon that can be useful he makes sure that they are at their prime. And because of this, while Paul may be a cruel trainer, he's shown to be a strategist, thinking ahead, and anticipating his opponent's next move, and what Pokémon they might bring into battle. And this has proven to be useful. After all, in all, except for their final battle, Paul managed to beat Ash on every encounter, and managed to defeat a couple of Ash's other rivals. And also while he may be a cruel trainer, he does show some form of kindness such as when he gave his Azumarill to passing trainer.
Boomstick: But just because he's able to defeat other trainers using his strategy, that doesn't mean that he has a perfect record. As Wiz already explained, Paul lost to Ash during the Lily of the Valley Conference in a Six-on-Six Battle. Not to mention, he also lost to the hand of Cynthia, the Sinnoh Region champion, and The Pyramid King Brandon.
Wiz: And it's currently unknown on whether or not if he was able to beat either Cynthia or Brandon, since after his defeat with Ash, he promised that he was ask for a rematch with Brandon.
Boomstick: I'm just hoping that Brandon managed to humiliate Paul like he did before.
Paul: Torterra, Stand by for battle!
Paul's Torterra[]

Boomstick: Now that we've talked about Paul and how he performs in a Pokémon Battle, let's talk about his Pokémon. The first one we will be discussing is his Torterra.
Wiz: Paul's Torterra was one of Paul first Pokémon he caught when he was starting his journey. In fact, it was his very first Pokémon he acquired.
Boomstick: Originally a Turtwig, both Turtwig and Paul were determined to become the strongest after witnessing Reggie lose to Brandon.
Wiz: And by the time Paul challenged Cynthia in a Pokémon match, Paul's Turtwig had already fully evolved into the Continent Pokémon Torterra. Torterra is Dual Grass/Ground-Type Pokémon, and is a loyal Pokémon towards Paul. However, unlike Paul, Torterra shows respect towards it's opponent, to the point where it helped Ash's Grotle improve it's fighting skills.
Boomstick: And because Paul focus on a brutal, and yet smartly played of battling, naturally Torterra has several moves that Paul's battle style. Some of the moves that Paul taught his Torterra are Giga Drain, Frenzy Plant, Hyper Beam, Leaf Storm, Crunch, and Stone Edge.
Wiz: However, in the rules of Pokémon, only four moves are available. So in this case, Torterra will be using the four most recent moves it used. The four moves are Giga Drain, Frenzy Plant, Crunch and Stone Edge.
Boomstick: Giga Drain is a Grass Type move that inflicts damage to the opponent, and then the user's health is recovered by about 1/2 of damage taken by said target.
Wiz: Frenzy Plant is currently the strongest Grass Type move in history. It acts in a similar fashion towards Hyper Beam. In other words Frenzy Plant does a lot of damage, but the user can't attack on the next turn.
Boomstick: Crunch is a Dark-Type Move in which the user bites the opponent with razor sharp teeth. Plus, there's a slight chance of the opponent's defenses getting lowered.
Wiz: And lastly there's Stone Edge. Stone Edge is a Rock-Type move that does a great deal of damage and has a high chance of critical hit.
Boomstick: All of Torterra's attacks are powerful, however most of them have the same problem; all except for Crunch and Giga Drain have only 5 PP.
Wiz: And while Torterra maybe a Paul's tank, because it's a Grass/Ground Type, it's weak against Ice-Type Moves. Not to mention, despite Torterra being a part Ground Type, it, for some reason, doesn't know any Ground-Type Moves.
Boomstick: But despite being owned by the prick known as Paul, Torterra will remain loyal towards him through thick and thin.
Torterra: TORTERRA!!!
Paul's Ursaring[]

Boomstick: I've noticed a pattern in the Pokémon Anime.
Wiz: And what's that?
Boomstick: Whenever Ursaring appear on the show, they are commonly on a rampage using Hyper Beam on Ash and his friends. Is it wrong for me to notice that?
Wiz: No, not really. But yet ironically, that's how Paul's Ursaring was like before he caught the Hibernation Pokémon.
Boomstick: Paul's Ursaring is a Normal-Type Pokémon. It's shown to be aggressive and hostile toward everyone it fights. Making it a perfect match for Paul's cruel battle strategies.
Wiz: And much like Paul's Torterra, Ursaring has many moves at his disposal that fits Paul's way of battling. These moves include Hyper Beam, Focus Blast, Hammer Arm, Secret Power, Bulk Up, and finally Slash.
Boomstick: And much like Torterra, Paul's Ursaring will use the four most recent moves it used. So in this case, Ursaring will use Focus Blast, Hammer Arm, Bulk Up and Slash.
Wiz: Focus Blast is one of the few Fighting-Type Special Moves. It a high-concentrating blast of energy that has a lot of power.... but at the cost of accuracy.
Boomstick: So basically it's like Ryu's Hadouken?
Wiz: Pretty much.
Boomstick: Hammer Arm is another Fighting-Type Move that Ursaring known. It does devastating amount of damage, with some accuracy issues.
Wiz: But the cost of using Hammer Arm is, if it hits, lowers the users speed by one level.
Boomstick: But honestly though, it doesn't seem that Paul would really care if Ursaring slowed down.
Wiz: You might be right. Bulk Up is, yet another Fighting type move that increases the users Attack and Defense by one level. Which makes Ursaring stronger than before.
Boomstick (Singing): GGGOOOOOOO ZEEEOOOOOO.....
Wiz: And lastly is Slash. Slash is a Normal-Type Move that does fairly decent amount of damage. However, it has a higher chance of performing a critical hit.
Boomstick: Yep. This proves my theory.
Wiz: And what's that?
Boomstick: If Paul had his way, he would murderer his opponent's Pokémon.
Wiz: I think your theory has some evidence backing it up, because that's not the worst part.
Boomstick: Huh?
Wiz: As it turns out, Paul's Ursaring has the ability Guts. Guts increases the users attack power if they have some kind of statis aliment, like poison, burned, or paralyzed.
Boomstick: Uh-Huh... My theory is proven.
Wiz: Paul's Ursaring is among one of his strongest Pokémon. Not only was it able to defeat half of Ash's Pokémon while they were battling near Lake Acuity, but it's also tough enough to defeat Barry's Hitmonlee despite the type disadvantage.
Boomstick: And as far as we're aware of, Paul's Ursaring has no real weakness, outside of being weak against Fighting Type Moves.
Wiz: Though, if I were to stretch it a bit, I guess he's yet been able to defeat what was originally Paul's Chimchar. before being captured by Paul, Ursaring lost to his Chimchar, and then again against it two more time when Ash decided to adopt Chimchar... after being abandoned by Paul.
Boomstick: Told you, Paul's a prick.
Ursaring's Guts ability activates.
Paul's Electivire[]

Boomstick: And just to let you know, Gary's Electivire will be slightly different than Paul's Electivire.
Wiz: Paul's Electivire is one of Paul's older Pokémon. He caught the Thunderbolt Pokémon when it was an Elekid.
Boomstick: Right at the beginning, Elekid had a bit of a nasty attitude. When Ash's Pikachu came to just say hi towards Elekid, Elekid falsely appeared to greet him back, only to hit Pikachu once he turned away. I don't know if it was like that beforehand, or if it was Paul's teaching that made him like that, but that was a dick move.
Wiz: As such the two developed a bit of a rivalry for a while. That is until, the two settled their differences and defeated to end their rivalry. And while Ash and Paul were force to do a Tag Battle during the Hearthome City Tag Battle Competition, Paul's Elekid evolved into an Electabuzz.
Boomstick: Paul decided to keep his Electabuzz as an Electabuzz for awhile. That is, until attended the Lily of the Valley Conference and was battling Barry. By that time, Paul's Electabuzz had already evolved into an Electivire.
Wiz: Which we're assuming that his Electabuzz had an Electirizer in his possession, and then Paul traded it with someone, and traded it back.
Boomstick: Most likely, Paul traded his Electabuzz with one of Reggie's Pokémon so it could evolve.
Wiz: Most likely.
Boomstick: Now, much like Paul's previous Pokémon, Electivire has--- Oh, Fuck it! You already known what we're going to say. So The moves that Paul's Electivire can use are Thunder, Protect, Brick Break, Thunder Punch, Light Screen and Giga Impact. And the four moves Electivire will use are the first four we mention, because they were the most recent.
Wiz: O-Kay then.... Thunder is among one of the strongest Electric-Type Moves a Pokémon can learn. It has tons of power, and may render the opponent paralyzed... but at the cost of having a rather crappy accuracy.
Boomstick: Protect... well, protects the user from everything thrown at him. But the most one uses it in a row, the less chance Protect will protect the user.
Wiz: Brick Break is a powerful Fight-Type move that's capable of shattering certain defenses like Reflect or Light Screen.
Boomstick: And Thunder Punch, allows the user to charge it's fist with electricity, and delivers a powerful punch. Also, it may paralyze the opponent.
Wiz: On top of all that, Electivire has the ability Motor Drive. Motor Drive makes the user immune to all electric type attacks, and even raises the users speed by one level, making Electivire more faster and more difficult to hit it.
Boomstick: Paul's Electivire is one of his most powerful Pokémon. Hell, even as an Elekid it's proven to be a powerful baby. After all, when it fought Ash's Pikachu for the first time, it ended in a draw.
Wiz: And when Ash and Paul was doing a 6-on-six Pokémon Battle, while it was an Electabuzz, it managed to deliver the finishing blow on Ash's newly evolved Monferno, costing Ash the match.
Boomstick: And when it was an Electivire, It was able to easily defeat Barry's Empoleon and managed to defeat Ash's Gliscor and Pikachu, despite having the disadvantage with Ash's Gliscor.
Wiz: But, much like every other Electric Type, Electivire is weak against Ground-Type Moves. But aside from that, that's all of Electivire's weaknesses.
Boomstick: I wonder if Paul's Electivire will bring forth the thunder when he battles Gary's Pokémon.
Wiz: That was a terrible pun Boomstick.
Boomstick: Oh, go to hell!
Electivire's Motor Drive activates.
Paul's Honchkrow[]

Boomstick: Of course, every good trainer knows you need at least one flyer on you team, and Paul is no exception. And his Pokémon of choice is a Honchkrow.
Wiz: Paul's Honchkrow is a dual Dark/Flying Type Pokémon. And much like Paul's Electivire, Paul acquired his Honchkrow as a Murkrow.
Boomstick: And even as a Murkrow, Honchkrow was a powerhouse. I'm talking it knowing Sky Attack kind of powerful.
Wiz: Not only that, but when Paul sends out his Murkrow/Honchkrow, Honchkrow gets the job done. In fact only on two different occasions did Honchkrow fail.
Boomstick: But like we've said, Honchkrow was originally a Murkrow. Sometime after defeating Ash in a Pokémon battle, Paul decided to give his Murkrow a Dusk Stone, which allowed it to evolve into the Big Boss Pokémon; Honchkrow.
Wiz: While it was with Paul, Honchkrow was taught the following; Haze, Sky Attack, Shadow Ball, Night Slash, Ariel Ace, and Dark Pulse.
Boomstick: But here's the thing; the last time Honchkrow was seen, it only used three moves; Sky Attack, Haze, and Night Slash.
Wiz: But in this case we are allowing Honchkrow to use Dark Pulse, since it was the last move it used before using the three aforementioned moves.
Boomstick: Sky Attack is among one of the strongest Flying Type Moves. It's capable to dealing massive damage... but it takes time to charge the attack, and has a slight chance of missing.
Wiz: Haze is an Ice Type Move. Now, depending on the games or the anime, Haze has one of two different effects. In the games case, all stats abnormalities return to normal.
Boomstick: But in the anime, Haze is commonly used to blind the opponent in a black smoke, making them unable to see what's going on. Basically, it was very similar on how James told his Weezing to use Smokescreen.
Wiz: Night Slash is a Dark-Type move that does a good amount of damage, and has a high chance of performing a Critical Hit. And this is only made worst, thanks to Honchkrow's ability Super Luck, which increased the chances of performing a critical hit.
Boomstick: Holy Shit! Paul sure doesn't fuck around when it comes to Pokémon battles does he?
Wiz: No he does not.
Boomstick: And as we've already mention the 4th move we are going to allow Paul's Honchkrow to use is Dark Pulse. Dark Pulse is a Special Dark Type Move that does hefty amount of damage. Plus, there's a 20% chance the opponent flinching should Dark Pulse hit.
Wiz: Honchkrow is one of Paul's most dangerous members. Not only did it defeat Ash's Pokémon on nearly every occasion, save for two, but it's even tough enough to defeat the Psuedo-Legendary Pokémon Dragonite.
Boomstick: What's more impressive is that Paul's Honchkrow is shown to be just as fast, if not faster then when it was a Murkrow. And in case you were wondering, yes. Murkrows are suppose to be faster than Honchkrow.
Wiz: But since it is a Dark/Flying type, Honchkrow is weak against Rock, Ice, and Electric Type moves.
Boomstick: Don't forget Fairy Types.
Wiz: That maybe true, however in Gen IV, Fairy Type Pokémon didn't exist yet. So Honchkrow, technically never encountered a Fairy Type Pokémon.
Boomstick: Well, it goes to show that Paul's Honchkrow will take out his opponents... LIKE A BAWS!!!
Honchkrow uses Sky Attack on a Dragonite, while Super Luck was activated.
Paul's Aggron[]

Boomstick: Who doesn't like Aggron? This one of the most awesome looking Pokémon introduced in Gen III.
Wiz: Paul's Aggron is one of his Pokémon that was introduced in the middle of the series. It is a dual Steel/Rock Type Pokémon. But before it was an Aggron, it was originally a Lairon. Paul's Lairon made it's first appearance while Paul was battling the Pyramid King Brandon.
Boomstick: And in no real shock, Lairon was humiliated by Brandon's Regice.
Wiz: Unfortunately, Paul's Lairon wasn't seen until the Lily of the Valley Conference. By that time, Lairon had already evolved into an Aggron. And while Paul was battling Ash in a Six-on-six battle, Aggron was the first Pokémon he called out.
Boomstick: While it proved to be a problem for Pikachu, it was eventually defeated by Ash's Infernape.
Wiz: However, it turns out that Paul let Ash take out his Aggron, since it was his strategy to figure out if Ash was planning on using the same Pokémon he used during their last match.
Boomstick: I keep telling you. Paul's a prick.
Wiz: We get it Boomstick! Will you just shut up about it!?
Boomstick: I'll shut up when we finish this Death Battle.
Wiz: Anyway, as for moves, Aggron was seen using Iron Defense, Metal Claw, Metal Sound, Flash Cannon and Double-Edge. But, Aggron will not be using Iron Defense in this battle.
Boomstick: Metal Claw is a Steel Type move that does a decent amount of damage, but it makes it up for having a slight chance of raising the user's attack.
Wiz: Metal Sound creates a powerful screech that lowers the opponent's special defense.
Boomstick: And that proves to be useful that to Aggron's third move; Flash Cannon. A Special Steel Type Move in which the user fires a beam of light energy. It's only made worst since it can lower the opponent's Special Defenses as well.
Wiz: And then there's Double-Edge. A Normal Type Move that does massive damage to the opponent... but at the cost of recoil damage should it hit.
Boomstick: Well that suc--
Wiz: However... Paul's Aggron has the ability Rock Head, which prevents it from receiving recoil damage.
Boomstick: Oh... Well how convenient.
Wiz: Sadly though, because we don't see too much of Paul's Aggron, we don't know what it's fully capable. After all, it only appeared twice, and on both occasions, it lost. The only real achievement that we could find is that it's capable of fighting Ash's Pikachu.
Boomstick: And because it's an Aggron, it's speed is lacking, and it's weak against water Fighting, and Ground Type move.... and especially Fighting and Ground Type moves.
Wiz: And because Paul's Aggron was around during Gen IV, that ultimately means that Paul doesn't have a Key Stone and Aggron doesn't have the Mega Stone Aggronite. Which in term, means that it's incapable of Mega Evolving.
Boomstick: Aw, man! I really wanted to see a Mega Aggron in a Death Battle!
Wiz: Maybe one day Boomstick.
Paul's Aggron roars.
Paul's Magmortar[]

Boomstick: And now it's time to talk about Paul's final Pokémon before we get to Gary and his Pokémon. Magmortar; The Blast Pokémon!
Wiz: Magmortar is a Fire-Type Pokémon, and the final evolution in the Magby line. Though in Paul's case, he had his Magmortar as a Magmar.
Boomstick: According to a flashback, Paul used his Magmar to defeat Veilstone City Gym Leader Maylene's Lucario, which earned him the Cobble Badge.
Wiz: To which, Paul scolded her for being the weakest gym leader he's ever battled.
Boomstick: I keep telling you that he's a--
Wiz: Yes! I know, I know... I KNOW!!! Paul's a prick! I get it!
Boomstick: Sheesh, you really need to lighten up Wiz.
Wiz: But, I--- You were--- Oh, Nevermind!
Boomstick: So while Wiz tries to regain his sanity, I'll do the talking for a while. Ash and his friends officially see Paul's Magmar in action while he was battling the Pyramid King Brandon. But while it was battling Brandon's Registeel, it was humiliated and was flinched by it's Iron Head. In a desperate attempt to win, Paul recalled Magmar, and only sent it back out when it was the last Pokémon. Despite trying its hardest to fight Brandon's Regirock, it was hit by a Shock Wave, and was knocked unconscious.
Wiz: Okay, I think I'm good.
Boomstick: Oh hey Wiz. You want to take this part?
Wiz: Very well then. Sometime before Ash and Paul had their first six-on-six Pokémon Battle near Lake Acuity, Paul decided to have his Magmar evolve into a Magmortar. Which again, we're assuming that he gave his Magmar a Magmarizer, and traded with someone, only to have them trade it back. And if he did, he most likely did it with his brother Reggie.
Boomstick: And when his Magmortar made it's debut, it became the stuff of nightmares. I'm talking being able to fend off multiple Pokémon and tanking moves that would commonly knock it out.
Wiz: And during Paul's battle against Barry in the Sinnoh League, Magmortar not only managed to take out the latter's Skarmory with a single attack, it also managed to endure a super-effective hit from Empoleon's Hydro Cannon, which by the way, is supposed to be the most powerful Water-type attack known to man. But that's pretty much all it's known for. As far to our knowledge, Paul's Magmortar never won, lost, or tied against any of Ash's Pokémon.
Boomstick: For the moves that Paul taught his Magmortar, Magmortar knows Fire Spin, Fire Punch, Flamethrower, Rock Tomb and Smog.
Wiz: And it's also heavily implied that it can use Will-o-Wisp, but since we never see it using it, we are not including Will-o-Wisp. But the moves Paul's Magmortar will use are Flamethrower, Rock Tomb, Smog, and Fire Punch.
Boomstick: Flamethrower is one the classic Fire-Type move. The Pokémon breathes, or in Magmortar's case, shoots a stream of fire that does a lot of damage, and has a slight chance of burning the foe.
Wiz: Rock Tomb is a Rock-Type move that does a fairly decent, if not, ify amount of damage. But despite it's subpar amount of damage, Rock Tomb will always lower the opponent's speed if it hits.
Boomstick: Smog is on of the more weaker Poison-Type moves. The User spray a poisonous gas that might poison the opponent if it hits.
Wiz: And lastly is Fire Punch, which, as it's name implies, the user performs a punch while it's fist is engulfed in fire. And much like Flamethrower, there's a slight chance it will burn the foe.
Boomstick: Man, Magmortar seems to love burning things.
Wiz: Well, it's only made worst since Magmortar has the ability Flame Body. If the opponent performs a physical attack, they risk the chance of getting burned in the process.
Boomstick: Well that sucks for them.
Wiz: Paul's Magmortar is one of Paul's more, ummm.. Unique Pokémon. While it lost to Brandon's Regirock, it's capable of fend off other Pokémon that would commonly knock out normal Magmortar.
Boomstick: Unfortunately though, Magmortar didn't get a lot of screen time, so we don't know if it's capable of defeating said Pokémon. After all, everything when it was onscreen, not including the aforementioned Skarmory, it never defeated, lost, or tied with it's opponent. Let's hope it'll be able to do so in this Death Battle.
Magmortar uses it's Flame Body ability.
Gary Oak[]
Boomstick: Out of all the rivals pestering Ash Ketchum, Gary Oak has been there since Day 1.
Wiz: Gary Oak is the grandson of the Pokémon Professor, Samuel Oak. Both of them use to be close friends, until their egos got the best of them.
Boomstick: No kidding about that. After all their rivalry started when they found an old Pokéball while fishing. Both of them wanted that Pokéball so much that they decided to play a game of Tug N' War with that Pokéball.
Wiz: But during their struggle, the Pokéball broke and two, and since then the two took a piece of the Pokéball, and parted ways.
Boomstick: As the years went by, Gary and Ash's friendship began to dwindle, and eventually turned into rivals. And by the time Gary became 10 years old, he, somehow got a group of cheerleaders following him, and got a sporty red convertible to take him to the next area.
Wiz: Gary is an arrogant Pokémon Trainer. He loves to gloat that he's the best, loves the attention, and he especially loves to make fun of Ash by bragging about how far behind Ash was compared to him. He's also an expert Pokémon trainer, and an expert at capturing Pokémon in an alarming rate.
Boomstick: You're not kidding. Best example is by the time Ash was at Bill's Lighthouse, He'd only captured 7 Pokémon, while Gary on the other hand, had already captured 45 Pokémon.
Wiz: Not only that, by the time Ash had seven gym badges and was on the way to get his eighth badge, Gary already acquired 10, and was on the verge of acquiring his eleventh.
Boomstick: Wait, I though you only need 8 badges to attend the Pokémon League.
Wiz: That's true. You only need eight Badges. However, like we said, Gary like to be the best, and is will to go one unnecessary step forward to become stronger.... or just to outdo Ash.
Boomstick: Probably the second reason.
Wiz: You're probably right.
Boomstick: Gary is one of Ash's strongest rivals. He's managed to defeat Ash on multiple occasions, and has been one step ahead of Ash since Day one.
Wiz: But because he strives to be the best, that ultimately means that Gary has a great deal of arrogance. Luckily for him though, as his journey progressed, Gary's arrogance began to dwindle to the point where both his cheerleaders and convertible are shown less and less. Also, while he is great at capturing Pokémon, that doesn't mean that he's great at training the Pokémon. After all, Gary has seen 60 different Pokémon and captured more than 200 Pokémon, but has only been seen using roughly 10 of his Pokémon.
Boomstick: And by the time, Ash defeated Gary in the Silver Conference, not only did Ash and Gary's friendship restore, but Gary decided to retire as a Pokémon Trainer, and become a Pokémon researcher like his grandfather.
Wiz: It just goes to show you that an unlikeable bully can change.
Boomstick: Yeah I guess. But we're not here to talk about friendship. We're here to see someone die!
Gary Oak: I'm Gary Oak from Pallet. And I hereby request a battle with the leader of this gym.
Gary's Blastoise[]

Wiz: So, much like Paul's Pokémon, we are know going to talk about Gary's Pokémon one by one, starting with his very first Pokémon; Blastoise.
Boomstick: Blastoise is a Water-Type Pokémon, and the final evolution in the Squirtle line. When Gary was registering as a Pokémon Trainer, his grandfather allowed him to pick one of three Pokéballs, with each one containing on of three Pokémon. A Bulbasaur, a Charmander, and a Squirtle.
Wiz: Naturally, Gary chose a Squirtle as his first Pokémon. And together, the two set out on a journey to become the greatest Pokémon trainer in history. During such time, Gary's Squirtle eventually fully evolved into a Blastoise. But when it evolved is never stated, since it didn't officially appeared until Ash battled Gary during the Silver Conference.
Boomstick: According to Professor Oak, Blastoise is Gary's strongest Pokémon. So naturally, Gary would teach his Blastoise powerful moves like; Hydro Pump, Skull Bash, Rapid... Spin? Uh.... Bite, Withdraw, Water Gun... okay... And Hydro Cannon. So, wait! If Blastoise is Gary's strongest Pokémon, then why doesn't he teach Blastoise more powerful moves like Ice Beam or something?
Wiz: I don't know, Gary's a weird kid. But with that said the four moves that we're going to allow his Blastoise to use are Hydro Pump, Water Gun, Hydro Cannon, since those were the most recently uses. And though it's implied that it can use Withdraw, that move was Japanese exclusive for some reason. So we're going to replace Withdraw for Bite.
Boomstick: Hydro Pump is a power Water-Type move that does a lot of damage, but has a rather shitty accuracy.
Wiz: Water Gun is among one of the more weaker Water type moves. Though given the fact that it's usually one of the first moves most Water-Type Pokémon can learn, it kinda makes sense.
Boomstick: Again, why doesn't he switch Water Gun for something like Surf or Ice Beam?
Wiz: I seriously don't know. But given the fact that the anime makes Water Gun appear more powerful than the game, maybe that's why a lot of trainers keep that move.
Boomstick: Still doesn't make sense to keep a weak starter move instead of replacing it with a much stronger move.
Wiz: I'm with you there. Anyway, Hydro Cannon is the strongest Water-Type move thus far. It's basically the water equivalent of Hyper Beam, dealing a devastating amount of damage, but the user has to rest for a turn if it hits.
Boomstick: And lastly there's Bite, a Dark-Type move that does a decent amount of damage, that may leave the opponent flinched if it hits.
Wiz: While Blastoise may not have been seen for too long, it's shown to do some impressive feats. It managed to singlehandedly defeat both Ash's Heracross and Bayleef with ease, and managed to hold it's own against Ash's Muk and Charizard. Not to mention it's shown to be a decent protector since it was able to defend three Shieldon from Hunter J.
Boomstick: But despite it being Gary's strongest Pokémon, it still lost to Ash's Charizard in a close match, which I'm pretty sure everyone is going to say "Which is further proof that Charizard should've won that one Death Battle". Plus, while it was capable of protecting the said Shieldon, Hunter J was still able to capture one of them to collect her payment.
Wiz: That, and there's the fact that since all this happened before Gen VI, Gary doesn't have the Key Stone and Blastoise's Mega Stone; Blastoisinite. So, that ultimately means that Blastoise is incapable of Mega Evolving.
Boomstick: Aw, man...
Wiz: Well, who knows? Maybe one day, Gary will appear with in the Kalos region with a Key Stone and Blastoise's Mega Stone.
Boomstick: One can only dream Wiz. One can only dream....
Gary's Blastoise: BLAST!!!
Gary's Umbreon[]

Boomstick: Now it's time to talk about one of the most popular Pokémon in the Eevee Evolution; Umbreon. Yep, Gary's got one of them as his main Pokémon.
Wiz: Umbreon is a Dark-Type Pokémon. Originally an Eevee, Gary's Eevee made it's first debut battle Ash's Pikachu.
Boomstick: And it turns out that his Eevee is a tough little fox.
Wiz: And while Ash and his friends were traveling the Johto region, they eventually spotted Gary battling a kid with an Alakazam. And it turns out that Gary's Eevee evolved into an Umbreon.
Boomstick: Umbreon proves to be one of Gary's toughest Pokémon, since that Alakazam Umbreon was battling didn't hit it once.
Wiz: Though to be fair, Alakazam was at a disadvantage since Psychics are weak against Dark-Type and Dark-Type Pokémon are immune to Psychic type moves. But with that said, Umbreon might be Gary's favorite Pokémon since it knows a grand total of eleven different moves.
Boomstick: Those moves are Reflect..
Wiz: Double Team...
Boomstick: Take Down..
Wiz: Skull Bash..
Boomstick: Tackle...
Wiz: Quick Attack..
Boomstick: Hidden Power...
Wiz: Flash..
Boomstick: Sand-Attack..
Wiz: Psychic..
Boomstick: And lastly, Shadow Ball.
Wiz: And because you should know the rules by now, the four moves Umbreon will use will be Flash, Sand-Attack, Psychic, and Shadow Ball, since they were used recently.
Boomstick: Flash is a Normal-Type Move in which a Pokémon unleashes a blinding light that will lower the opponent's accuracy.
Wiz: Sand-Attack is essentially the same thing, but the only differences are that it's a Ground-Type moves, and the user tosses sand at the opponent's face.
Boomstick: Man. Gary's Umbreon just wants to blind it's opponent. Maybe it doesn't want it's foe to see it's defeat.
Wiz: Most likely. Psychic is a, well, Psychic-Type move...
Boomstick: No shit.
Wiz:... That does a lot of damage, and has a slight chance of lower the opponent's Special Defense.
Boomstick: And Shadow Ball is a Ghost-type move in which the user shoots a shadowy blob at the opponent. And much like Psychic, there's a slight chance of lowering the opponent's Special Defense.
Wiz: Now you may've noticed the biggest flaw with Gary's Umbreon. Umbreon doesn't know any Dark-Type Moves. Hell, it doesn't know moves like Faint Attack, or Pursuit, despite being capable of learning those moves in Gen II.
Boomstick: And because of this, Umbreon doesn't have any stab moves at it's disposal. And in case you are wondering what a stab move is, it's when a Pokémon uses a move of the same Type. When that happens, the attack receives a 50% damage boost. But, who knows? Maybe Gary's Umbreon doesn't need a Dark-type move to be a danger to Paul's Pokémon
Wiz: Who knows Boomstick?
Umbreon uses Psychic.
Gary's Electivire[]

Boomstick: In case you were wondering, no! You are not imagining this. We are going to talk about Electivire again. But thankfully, Gary's Electivire is different than Paul's Electivire.
Wiz: During his time exploring the Sinnoh region, Gary managed to acquire an Electivire. It's... never really clear on whether he caught it as an Elekid, an Electabuzz, or as an Electivire.
Boomstick: But naturally, since Ash gets impressed whenever he encounters a new Pokémon, he challenged Gary's Electivire to a one-on-one battle with his Pikachu. Long story short, Pikachu lost. But on the plus side, it was the spark that made Ash want to go to the Sinnoh region.
Wiz: Really?
Boomstick: Shut up...
Wiz: Unlike Paul's Electivire who has a bit of a nasty attitude, Gary's Electivire is more jolly and sportful. Not to mention, a couple of the moves that Gary's Electivire knows differ than Paul's. Sure it knows Thunder, Protect, and Thunder Punch, but it also knows Iron Tail and Thunderbolt.
Boomstick: And in this battle, Gary's Electivire will be using Thunder, Protect, Iron Tail, and Thunder Punch. And since three of Gary's Electivire's moves are same as Paul's Electivire's move, we only need to talk about one of it's moves; Iron Tail.
Wiz: Iron Tail is a Steel-Type move that does a lot of damage. Admittedly though, it has rather crappy accuracy, but if it does hit, there's a slight chance of the opponent's defenses getting lowered.
Boomstick: And I take it Gary's Electivire also has Motor Drive as it's ability?
Wiz: Actually, it's never stated.
Boomstick: Aww...
Wiz: Well, given the fact that Gary's Electivire is one of his main Pokémon, naturally, Electivire is one of his most powerful. It managed to overpower Ash's Pikachu, and even managed to protect three Shieldon from that bitch of a Pokémon collector Hunter J.
Boomstick: But despite this, it still was overpowered by Saturn's Toxicroak. With that said, Electivire has no real weaknesses, outside of it being weak against Ground-Type moves.
Wiz: Well... that was a quick analysis. Shall we move on Boomstick?
Boomstick: Yes we should.
Electivire uses Thunder.
Gary's Arcanine[]

Boomstick: It's time we fire this analysis by talking about one of the most popular Fire-Type Pokémon; Arcanine.
Wiz: Again with the puns?
Boomstick: Go to Hell.
Wiz: Gary's Arcanine is one of Gary's more common Pokémon seen. It's unknown on whether he caught it as a Growlithe, or as an Arcanine. But since Arcanine can't be encountered in the wild, it's likely Gary caught Arcanine as a Growlithe, and then gave it a Fire Stone so it could evolve.
Boomstick: Arcanine made it's first appearance battling the Viridian Gym Leader Giovanni. For some stupid reason, Gary decided to send his Arcanine up against Giovanni's Kingler, which is an obvious rookie mistake seeing how water beats fire.
Wiz: Despite this though, Gary's Arcanine managed to not only held it's own against Giovanni's Kingler, but it also managed to beat it.
Boomstick: Really? I want that Arcanine!
Wiz: However, when Giovanni brought forth his secret weapon, Gary's Arcanine, along with his Nidoking, were hopelessly humiliated, resulting in Gary losing to Giovanni.
Boomstick: I take it back! You can keep your Arcanine Gary.
Wiz: But it doesn't top there. While Gary was participating in the Extreme Pokémon Race, which is a competition where a Pokémon is leashed onto their trainer while they're pulling them on a skateboard while the trainer is carrying a Toy Pokémon Egg, Gary decided to use his Arcanine as his Pokémon for this very competition.
Boomstick: But, in the end, Ash decided attend the competition with his Bayleef, and won with Gary and his Arcanine being the runner-up.
Wiz: And the last time Gary's Arcanine was seen was when Gary was battling Ash during the Silver Conference. Gary's Arcanine was sent out to do battle with Ash's Snorlax. But despit it's best efforts... it lost.
Boomstick: So, it can take on a Kingler and win, despite the type disadvantage, but it had trouble dealing with a slow-ass obese Pokémon? Well, that sucks. Well, anyway. Despite not having the best winning record, Gary's Arcanine has several moves at it's disposal. Which include Take Down, Fire Spin, Fire Blast, and Flame Wheel.
Wiz: Take Down is a Normal-Type move that does a lot of damage.... but does recoil damage if it hits.
Boomstick: Fire Spin is one of the more weaker Fire-Type moves. It creates a circle of fire that entraps the opponent for a few minutes. Now originally, while the Pokémon was trapped, they couldn't do shit, except for soak in damage wait for the Fire Spins effects to wear off.
Wiz: Luckily for them, as the generation progressed the Pokémon can know attack, but they still trapped inside the field of fire. The only way to escape is to do one of two options. One; wait 2-5 turns. Or two; Use Rapid Spin, if the Pokémon knows Rapid Spin.
Boomstick: Fire Blast is one of the most powerful Fire-Type moves. it does a Shit-ton of Damage, and might cause the opponent to burn.
Wiz: Unfortunately, Fire Blast has a rather crappy accuracy. And last is Flame Wheel, A Fire-Type move that engulfs the user in fire, and proceeds to ram the opponent. And much like Fire Blast, there's a slight chance of the opponent getting burned.
Boomstick: While Gary's Arcanine is not the most impressive of his Pokémon, it is debatably his fastest Pokémon. Not to mention, it's even tough enough to take on Pokémon that are strong against Aracanine's type, like the aforementioned Giovanni's Kingler.
Wiz: But sadly, that really all of it has achieved, since every other time it was out, it had a tendency to lose. Whether it be a Pokémon Battle or a competition, Gary's Arcanine almost never came out on top.
Boomstick: But, who knows Wiz? Maybe Gary's Arcanine can make a comeback and bring the heat in this Death Battle.
Wiz: THAT IT!!!
Sounds can be heard of punch, screaming and things breaking.
Gary's Arcanine using Flame Wheel.
Gary's Nidoqueen[]

Boomstick: So, now that I dealt with Wiz, let's move on.
Wiz: I can't feel my face.
Boomstick: Shut up Wiz. Now here's where we got into a bit of a problem; the rest of Gary's Pokémon were only seen once, maybe two times at most, and all except for the last two Pokémon only had about two moves at their disposal.
Wiz: But luckily, we were able to find two of Gary's Pokémon that had at least four move at their disposal, and the first one we're going to talk about is his Nidoqueen.
Boomstick: Nidoqueen is a dual Poison/Ground-Type Pokémon and the final evolution in the Nidoran♀.
Wiz: She made her first appearance when Gary used her to battle Team Rocket. After which though, Nidoqueen just, sorta, disappeared.
Boomstick: That is, until the Silver Conference when Gary was battling Ash. When she called out, she managed to defeat Ash's Tauros with ease.... but ended up getting her ass kicked by Ash's Snorlax.
Wiz: And that's all of the screen time Nidoqueen had. We don't know where Nidoqueen is, or if she's with Gary. Fr all we know Gary's Nidoqueen could be at Professor Oak's lab.
Boomstick: But aside the question of "Where the fuck is Gary's Nidoqueen," Gary's Nidoqueen does have several moves at her disposal. These include Mega Punch, Strength, Rock Smash, Hyper Beam and Double Kick. And much like before, the last four moves will be used in this Death Battle.
Wiz: Strength is Normal-Type HM move that commonly used to by trainers to push large boulders out of the way. In battle though, Strength is uses as a damage dealer, with on add-on side effects.
Boomstick: Rock Smash is another HM move that trainers use in certain conditions. Outside of Battles, it's commonly used to, well, smash rocks that are in the way.
Wiz: But in battle, it's a weak Fighting-Type move that does minimum damage. However, should it hit, there's a 50% chance of the opponent's defenses to be lowered.
Boomstick: Hyper Beam is the most powerful Normal-Type move to date. The user fires a powerful beam of energy, usually from their mouth, and does massive damage.
Wiz: But should Hyper Beam hit, then the user is vulnerable for a turn, unable to attack, or use any kind of attack until they recharge.
Boomstick: And finally, Double Kick, a Fighting-Type move that's guaranteed to hit the target two times, should it hit.
Wiz: And you might've noticed that same problem Gary's Nidoqueen has that Gary's Umbreon also had; Nidoqueen doesn't know any Poison or Ground Type moves. And judging on her moves, it seems that Gary's Nidoqueen is suppose to be his HM slave, since two of her moves are HMs.
Boomstick: And to make matters worst, all of her moves are Normal and Fighting Type moves. So if she goes up against a Ghost-Type Pokémon, then TOO BAD! SHE'S SCREWED!
Wiz: But, luckily for Gary's Nidoqueen, Paul doesn't have any Ghost-Type Pokémon at his disposal, so she should be fine in this battle.
Boomstick: Spoilers, Wiz! Jeez....
Gary's Nidoqueen uses Hyper Beam on Ash's Tauros at pointblank range.
Gary's Scizor[]

Boomstick: We're nearing the end of the analysis folks. And we saved one of the best Pokémon for last; the Pincer Pokémon Scizor.
Wiz: Scizor is a Dual Bug/Steel-Type Pokémon, and the evolved form of Scyther.
Boomstick: The badass Scyther evolves into the more badass Scizor by giving it a Metal Coat, and then trading it with someone.
Wiz: Which is how we think Gary got his Scizor, since everything else that's known about Gary's Scizor is unknown. The only time Scizor was seen was when Gary used it during the Silver Conference.
Boomstick: For it's moves, Scizor happens to know four moves. Those moves are; Quick Attack, Metal Claw, Swift and Steel Wing.
Wiz: Quick Attack is a Normal-Type move that allows the user to move at rapid speeds, which allows the user to commonly attack first. But if the opponent is using a move with a similar effect like Shadow Sneak, and is faster than Scizor, then the opponent goes first.
Boomstick: Metal Claw is a Steel-Type move that does a decent amount of damage, with the addition of having a slight chance of raising the user's attack.
Wiz: Swift is a Normal-Type move in which the user shoots out star-shaped projectiles that are almost always guaranteed to hit the opponent... providing if the opponent isn't a Ghost-Type, or isn't using a move like Protect or Detect.
Boomstick: And lastly is Steel Wing, a Steel-Type move in which the user hardens their wings, and rams themselves at the opponent. It also can raises the user's defenses. But much like Metal Claw, there's only a slight chance of that happening.
Wiz: While Gary's Scizor was only seen in on battle, it's proven to be a powerful individual. It managed to singlehandedly managed to defeat Ash's Snorlax and Muk in that order... only to be defeated rather easily by his Charizard.
Boomstick: Well, I'm not surprised Wiz, since Scizor are seriously weak against Fire-Type Moves.
Wiz: That's right Boomstick. In fact that's the only weakness that Gary's Scizor has. Not to mention, Gary's Scizor rivals his Arcanine for being the fastest in Gary's team. But unlike Arcanine who has a terrible win/lose ratio, Scizor is not only capable of defending itself, but are capable of taking on powerful foe.
Boomstick: Let's see Scizor can improve it's win/lose ratio.
Scizor uses Metal Claw on Snorlax's face, causing it to faint.
Death Battle[]

(The scene begins at a Pokémon Stadium. The Crowd is cheering, wait for the battle to begin.)
Announcer: And now, what you all been waiting for, the tournament is near the end and it is down to our last two contestants. On my left, we have a young man who was born and raised in the Sinnoh region's Veilstone City. Please, give it up for PAUL!!!
As Paul is making his way towards the arena, not even looking at the crowd, the crowd can be heard cheering and booing.
Announcer: And to my right, born and raised in the Kanto Region's Pallet Town. Please, give it up for GARY OAK!!!
Gary Oak makes his way towards the arena, while waving at the crowd, while the crowd can also be heard cheering and booing.
Paul: You are my final opponent? Don't make me laugh.
Gary Oak: Hey, you better watch it buddy! Do you know who I am?
Paul: No. And frankly, I could care less.
Gary Oak: I'm Gary Oak, grandson of Professor Oak!
Paul: Like I said, I could care less on who you are.
Gary Oak: (Growling in anger, with his fist clenching) I teach you a lesson you won't ever forget!
Paul: This will be a waste of my time.. but fine.
Referee: May I have your attention please? This is a full-on six-on-six Pokémon Battle. The battle will end when either sides Pokémon are unable to continue. Furthermore, Trainers can only substitute their Pokémon when the opposing Pokémon is unable to continue. Is that clear?
Gary: Yes! Let's do this!
Paul: Whatever...
Announcer: Let the battle... BEGIN!!
Fight[]

Gary: Umbreon, I choose you!
Gary tosses a Pokéball...
Paul: Aggron, stand by for battle.
Paul tosses his Pokéball...
The two Pokéballs opened up and out emerges an Umbreon and Aggron.
Aggron: AGG-RRROOOONNN!!!
Umbreon: Umbreon!
Gary: Umbreon, use Sand-Attack!
Umbreon proceeds to Sand-Attack at Paul's Aggron.
Paul: Aggron, block you eyes.
Aggron managed to block the sand from hitting it's eye...
Paul: Now use Metal Sound.
Aggron uses Metal Sound, and successfully lowered Umbreon's Special Defenses.
Gary: UMBREON! Are you okay?
Umbreon is seen shaking it's head, and reenters it's battle stance.
Gary: Good job Umbreon! Now use Shadow Ball!
Umbreon generates a shadowy blob from it's mouth...
Paul: Aggron, use Flash Cannon!
Paul's Aggron proceeds to use Flash Cannon.
As Umbreon fires the Shadow Ball, Paul's Aggron fires the Flash Cannon. The two attacks clash together, causing a massive explosion, creating a cloud of dust on the arena.
Gary: I can't see anything! Umbreon, use your lights!
The yellow rings on Umbreon's body begin to glow revealing it's location in the dust cloud.
Paul: Hmmm.. AGGRON! Use Double-Edge, and attack where the lights are!
Aggron charges towards Umbreon's light, as it's performing Double-Edge.
Aggron: AGGG-RRROOOOONNNNN!!!!
Aggron managed to hit Umbreon, can caused it to be sent flying, and crashing into a wall.
Gary: Umbreon, NO!
Umbreon then falls out of the crater on the wall.
Gary: Are you alright Umbreon?
Umbreon struggles to get back on it's feet. But just as it about to continue fighting Paul's Aggron....
Paul: Flash Cannon!
Aggron fired another Flash Cannon directly at Umbreon, performing a critical hit.
Gary: Umbreon!
Paul: Finish it with a Metal Claw.
Aggron charges at a weakened Umbreon, as it's claws turn into a metal alloy. It then performs a powerful slash with it's Metal Claw, and knocked Umbreon out.
Referee: Umbreon is unable to continue. This round goes to Paul and his Aggron.
Announcer: UN-BE-LIEVABLE! Paul's Aggron managed to devastate Gary's Umbreon! Can Gary make a comeback, or will he continue this pathway of defeat?
Gary: You did great Umbreon.
Gary pulls out Umbreon's Pokéball.
Gary: Now return Umbreon. You deserve a good rest.
Umbreon returns into it's Pokéball.

Paul: That Umbreon of yours was pathetic. I suggest you give up now while you still have a chance.
Gary: Not a chance pal! I'll beat you in this tournament, if it's that last thing I do!
Referee: Paul, your opponent is about to select his second Pokémon. Do you want to substitute your Pokémon?
Paul: Aggron can handle whatever this loser brings out.
Referee: Very well then. Paul has decided not to substitute his Pokémon! Gary, please select your second Pokémon.
Gary: I got the perfect Pokémon for this. Arcanine, I choose you!
Gary tosses his Pokéball. The ball opens up, and out comes his Arcanine.

Gary: I know I can count on you Arcanine.
Arcanine performs a battle howl.
Gary: Arcanine, Use Flame Wheel!
Arcanine charges at Paul's Aggron as it engulf itself in fire.
Paul: Aggron, use Double-Edge!
Aggron charges at the charging Arcanine while performing Double-Edge.
The two clashed, causing another explosion.
The two Pokémon backed up, both of them receiving damage from their respected attack.
As the two Pokémon were recovering, Gary noticed Paul's Aggron receiving less damaged than he anticipated.
Gary: Hey, Wait a minute! Your Aggron should've received damage from it's Double-Edge!
Paul: That would be true, if my Aggron didn't have the ability Rock Head.
Gary: "Rock Head"?
Paul: It prevents Aggron from receiving recoil damage if it using a move like Double Edge. So it only received the damage when it made contact with your Arcanine's Flame Wheel.
Gary: That doesn't mean anything! Arcanine, use Fire Blast!
Arcanine fires a large star-shaped blast of fire directly at Paul's Aggron.
Paul: Flash Cannon.
Aggron fires it's Flash Cannon at the Fire Blast.
The Flash Cannon hits, but the Fire Blast was more powerful, and easily overpowered Aggron's Flash Cannon.
The Fire Blast hits Aggron deal a lot of damage.
Gary: That just shows you not to mess with Gary Oak! Arcanine use Fire Spin!
Arcanine blasts a stream of fire at Paul's Aggron, which circled around the Iron Armor Pokémon.
Paul watches without showing any care for his Pokémon's well being.
Gary: OKAY! Finish it off with Fire Blast!
Arcanine fires another Fire Blast at a trapped Aggron, and successfully hits.
Aggron collapses to the ground, unable to battle.
Referee: Aggron is unable to battle, the victor of this round goes to Gary and his Arcanine.
Gary: Way to go Arcanine!
Arcanine: Ar-ranine..
Paul: Aggron, return.

Gary: You're the best Arcanine.
Paul: You shouldn't be cheering this early in this match, Gary!
Gary: Huh?
Paul: I let you win that round. There was no way Aggron could've won that battle.
Gary: So you just gave up on it?
Paul: That's how I battle. If I know my Pokémon can't win, then I let them lose.
Gary: grrrr... YOU THE WORST EXAMPLE OF A POKEMON TRAINER!
Paul: Say what you want, but I'm still going to beat you.
Referee: Gary, your opponent is going to select his next Pokémon. Do you want to substitute?
Gary: Arcanine, do want to continue fighting?
Arcanine: Ranine!
Gary: Very well then. Arcanine decide it want to continue fighting.
Referee: Very well then. Paul, select your next Pokémon.
Paul: Ursaring, stand by for battle!
Paul throws his Pokéball. The Pokéball opens up an out come an Ursaring.
Ursaring roars out loud.

Gary: We got this one. Arcanine use Flame Wheel!
Arcanine uses Flame Wheel and charges at Paul's Ursaring.
Paul: Ursaring, block it by using Bulk Up.
Ursaring uses Bulk Up, which increased it's Attack and Defense stats.
Arcanine successfully rams itself at Ursaring.
The attack did a small amount of damage, however...
Ursaring begins to roar in pain.
Gary: Ha! It seems your Ursaring is now burned from Arcanine's Flame Wheel! You'll never win at this rate!
Paul: Heh, That's where you're wrong... URSARING, USE SLASH!
Ursaring preforms a Slash Attack, and managed to hit Gary's Arcanine, performing a critical hit, and even managed to knock it unconscious.
Gary: What!?
Referee: Arcanine is unable to battle. The victor of this round goes to Paul and his Ursaring.
Gary: Hey, what just happened?
Paul: Easy. My Ursaring has the ability Guts. If Ursaring is inflicted with a statis aliment like poison, paralysis, or in this case, burned, then it's attack power is increased!
Gary: Grrr... Arcanine, return.
Arcanine returns to it's Pokéball.
Gary: You did great buddy.

Referee: Paul, Do you want to--
Paul: Don't finish that question! Ursaring is staying!
Referee: Very well then...
Gary Oak: Nidoqueen, I choose you!
Gary tosses his Pokéball, and out comes his Nidoqueen.
Nidoqueen performs a battle roar.

Paul (Thinking): At least I don't have to worry Ursaring getting poisoned.
Gary: Nidoqueen, use Double Kick!
Nidoqueen charges at Paul's Ursaring, about to perform a kick.
Paul: Block it by using Bulk Up!
Ursaring uses Bulk Up again, increasing it's attack and defenses.
Nidoqueen managed to hit Ursaring with her Double Kick. Though it was super effective, Ursaring was about to endure it.
Paul: Now grab it and use Slash!
Ursaring managed to grab Gary's Nidoqueen, and is about to use Slash.
Gary: Nidoqueen, use Hyper Beam!
Nidoqueen managed to fire a Hyper Beam at Ursaring at pointblank range.
But despite this, Paul's Ursaring managed to hit Gary's Nidoqueen with a Slash attack.
Both Pokémon backed up and were weakened by the attacks.
The two stand their ground for a few seconds until...
Ursaring: Ursa? UR-SA!!
Ursaring is effected by the burns that Gary's Arcanine gave and knelt down. AND...
Nidoqueen: Nido? Ni-do-queennnn....
Gary's Nidoqueen collapses, unable to battle.
Referee: Nidoqueen is unable to battle. The victor of this round goes to Paul and his Ursaring.
Gary: Nidoqueen! No! Great job Nidoqueen. You deserve a good rest.
Gary's Nidoqueen returns to her Pokéball.

Referee: I bet I know the answer, but... Paul, will you substitute your Pokémon?
Paul (Thinking): As much as I want Ursaring to continue.
Paul: Ursaring, return.
Ursaring get inside it's Pokéball.
Referee: It appears that Paul is going to substitute his Pokémon. Trainers, select your Pokémon!
Paul and Gary simultaneously: Electivire...
Paul: Stand by for battle!
Gary: I choose you!
Both Pokéballs are tossed, and out comes two Electivire.

Gary: So you have an Electivire too, huh?
Paul: Yeah. But mine is far stronger than yours.
Paul's Electivire generates electricity from it's body.
Gary: We'll see about this! You ready Electivire?
Gary's Electivire: Electi!
Gary: Now Electivire, use Thunder Punch!
Gary's Electivire charges at Paul's Electivire, while performing Thunder Punch.
Paul: Idiot. Electivire, stand your ground!
Gary: Huh?
Paul's Electivire remained at that one spot as Gary's Electivire successfully hit it.
Paul: You really are an amateur, aren't you?
Gary: What are you talking about? And why did you let you Electivire get hit by my Electivire's Thunder Punch?
Paul: Must I explain everything? Electivire has the ability Motor Drive, which make it immune to all electric attacks.
Gary: Well, then I guess I'll--
Paul: And, as an added bonus...
Paul's Electivire disappears.
Gary: Huh?
Paul: It's Speed gets increased.
Paul's Electivire appears behind Gary's Electivire.
Gary: Huh? Electivire! Watch out!
Paul: Too late. Electivire, Brick Break!
As Gary's Electivire spots Paul's Electivire, Paul's Electivire uses Brick Break directly onto Gary's Electivire's head.
Despite this, Gary's Electivire managed to regain it's footing.
Gary: Electivire! Are you Okay?
Gary's Electivire: Lecti!
Gary: Good!
Gary Thinking: Wait, if Electivire has the ability Motor Drive, does that mean my Electivire has that ability too? But if that's the case, something tells me Paul won't use any Electric Attack. And if electric type moves aren't going to effect Paul's Electivire, then I only have one move that I can use.
Gary: Electivire, use Iron Tail!
Gary's Electivire charges at Paul's Electivire, while performing Iron Tail. It leaps into the air, and is about to smack Paul's Electivire with it's tails.
Paul: Dodge, and use Brick Break Again!
Paul's Electivire dodges Gary's Electivire's Iron Tail. It then performs a Brick Break.
Gary: Quick! Use Protect!
Gary's Electivire managed to use Protect before Paul's Electivire's Brick Break could hit.
Gary: Now use Iron Tail, while you still have the chance!
Gary's Electivire uses Iron Tail on Paul's Electivire, and hits it side.
Paul: Grab Electivire's tails!
Paul's Electivire grabs Gary's Electivire's tails.
Paul: You're now defenseless. Electivire, toss that Electivire in the air, and use Brick Break!
With the tails in hand, Paul's Electivire tossed Gary's Electivire in the air.
Gary: OH, NO!
Unable to do anything, Gary watches as Paul's Electivire jumped in the air, and uses Brick Break on a his defenseless Electivire.
Gary: Electivire, NO!!
Gary's Electivire crashed onto the ground, and was knocked out, unable to continue.
Referee: Gary's Electivire is unable to continue. The victor goes to Paul and his Electivire.
Gary: Electivire. Are you okay?
Gary's Electivire: Electi...
Gary: You did great buddy. Now return.
Gary's Electivire returned to it's Pokéball.

Paul: Electivire, return.
Paul's Electivire returns to it's Pokéball.
Gary thinking: This is bad....
Gary: Scizor, I choose you!
Paul: Honchkrow, stand by for battle!
Both Paul and Gary tosses their Pokéballs, and out comes Scizor and Honchkrow.
Scizor: Scizor!
Honchkrow: HONCH!!

Paul: So, we're taking this fight in the air then?
Gary: Looks like it. Let's go Scizor!
Paul: So no mercy Honchkrow!
Both Honchkrow and Scizor take flight.
Gary: Scizor, use Quick Attack!
Scizor disappears and managed to hit Honchkrow in the back.
Paul: Get back up and use Night Slash!
Honchkrow managed to regain it's footing and proceeds to use Night Slash.
Gary: Scizor, use Swift!
Scizor fires a barrage of star-shaped projectiles at a charging Honchkrow.
Paul: Honchkrow, block them with your Night Slash!
Honchkrow slashes at Scizor's Swift attack.
Paul: Now, get close to Scizor.
Honchkrow charges at Scizor.
Gary: Use Metal Claw when it get close!
As Scizor's claw are coated in metal, ready to strike Honchkrow...
Paul: Use Haze!
Honchkrow breathed out a smoke cloud into Scizor's eyes.
Scizor attempts to strike blindly, in the smoke cloud, but misses.
As the smoke clears, Paul's Honchkrow is nowhere to be seen.
Gary: Huh? Where did Honchkrow go?
Paul: NOW! USE SKY ATTACK!
Honchkrow descends at rapid speeds, with an aura envelops it.
Gary: Huh? Scizor! Watch out!
Scizor looks up and spots Honchkrow. But before it can dodge, Honchkrow managed to ram itself onto Scizor.
As the two are descending towards the arena, Scizor is struggling to break free.
Gary: Scizor. Break free by using Metal Claw!
As Scizor is about to use Metal Claw, the two Pokémon crash into the arena, creating a cloud of smoke, engulfing the two.
Gary: Scizor!
Paul watches the cloud of smoke without showing much care for his Pokémon.
As the smoke clears... both Scizor and Honchkrow were rendered unconscious.
Gary: Scizor, NOOO!
Referee: Both Scizor and Honchkrow are unable to continue. This round is a draw!
Gary: Scizor return.
Paul: Honchkrow, return!
Both Honchkrow and Scizor returned to their Pokéballs.

Gary: You did great Scizor.
Paul: You disappoint me, Honchkrow.
Gary (Thinking): This is my last Pokémon. I need to up my game if I'm to beat this guy.
Paul: Just give up!
Gary: Huh?
Paul: You only have one Pokémon left, while I have four. At this rate, your last Pokémon will fall, and I'll be the winner.
Gary: That's where you're wrong. This may be my last Pokémon, but it's also my strongest.
Paul: Your funeral. Magmortar, stand by for battle!
Gary: Blastoise! I choose you!
Both Paul and Gary throw their Pokéballs and out comes Magmortar and Blastoise.
Magmortar: Mag-Mortar!
Blastoise: BLAST!!

Gary (Thinking): Great. Magmortar's a Fire-Type. My Blastoise has the advantage in this battle.
Gary: Blastoise use Water Gun.
Paul: Magmortar, Flamethrower!
Both Blastoise and Magmortar fire their respect attack.
The attacks clash, barely giving each other a chance to overpower each other.
Gary: Blastoise, fire your Hydro Cannon, Now!
Blastoise changes it's Water Gun into a Hydro Cannon, and managed to easily overpower Magmortar's Flamethrower.
Magmortar watches in terror as the Hydro Cannon draw closer to it.
The Hydro Cannon hits Magmortar, and knocked it out with one shot.
Referee: Magmortar is unable to continue. The victor of this round goes to Gary and his Blastoise.
Paul: Magmortar, return.
Magmortar returned to it's Pokéball.

Paul: There was nothing you could've done. It time we finish this battle. Torterra, stand by for battle!
Paul tosses his Pokéball, and out emerges Torterra.
Torterra: TERRAAAA!

Gary (thinking): This is not good. Blastoise won't be able to attack for a bit thanks to that Hydro Cannon. It'll just have to endure for now.
Paul: Torterra, Stone Edge!
Large amount of stones appear around Torterra. The stones were then flung towards Blastoise.
The Stones hit Blastoise, but was able to walk it off.
Gary: You alright Blastoise?
Blastoise: BLAST!
Gary: Now, get close to Torterra and use Bite!
Blastoise charges towards Torterra and bites the side of Torterra's shell.
Paul: Torterra use Crunch!
Torterra proceeds to bite hard on Blastoise's tail.
Paul: Now use Giga Drain!
The mountains on Torterra's shell turn into three green tentacles and wraps around Blastoise.
Gary: Blastoise, No! Get out of there!
As Blastoise is struggling to get out of there, Torterra is slowly draining Blastoise's health.
Gary: Blastoise, use Hydro Pump to get out of Torterra's grip.
Blastoise uses Hydro Pump into Torterra's face.
Hydro Pump managed to hit Torterra's face, dealing a decent amount of damage.
Angered, Torterra tossed Blastoise.
Paul: Torterra, finish that Blastoise with Frenzy Plant.
As Blastoise is trying to get back on it's feet, Torterra unleashes it's Frenzy Plant, in which large thorns emerges from the ground and slammed into Blastoise.
With the hit from Torterra's Frenzy Plant, Blastoise was sent flying, directly into Gary.
Both Gary and Blastoise were sent crashing into the stadium wall, knocking out Gary's Blastoise.
Referee: Blastoise is unable to continue. The victor of this round goes to Paul and his Torterra. Which means the winner of this tournament goes to Paul!

The crowd cheers after an intense battle.
Blastoise falls out of the crater, still unconscious, and had blood on it's shell.
Just then, the crowd cheers is averted into a state of gasps and shock.
The crowd notices that the crater contains the crushed corpse of Gary Oak. AS it turns out that when Blastoise crashed into Gary, and the stadium wall, Gary was crushed and killed on impact.

- Paul retrieves his trophy
- Professor Oak is attending his grandson's funeral
Conclusion[]
Boomstick: OH MAN! That was one of the most awesome Pokémon Battles I've seen in a long time!
Wiz: Gary was doomed from the start. While most of his Pokémon had similar typing as to Paul's Pokémon, with a few exceptions here and there, and was able to knock out a few of his Pokémon, Paul proved to be the superior trainer in virtually every aspect.
Boomstick: Gary is a great trainer, however, he had a tendency to give his Pokémon some of the weirdest movesets to bring to battle. I mean seriously! His Nidoqueen doesn't know any Poison or Ground-Type moves for God sake! Paul on the other hand uses moves that gives himself an advantage in nearly every battle he's been in. And there's also the fact that Paul never gives his opponent a chance to recover whenever he's battling. The only time when Paul lost one of his Pokémon was because he let Gary take that win.
Wiz: Plus, Gary, surprisingly has less experience than Paul when it comes to training. Hear me out. While Gary may've been Ash's rival the longest, Gary has a tendency to capture Pokémon for the sake of capturing a Pokémon, and rarely trains most of his Pokémon. The biggest example to this claim is when Gary captured a large Krabby. According to Professor Oak, Gary caught that Krabby sometime before Ash caught his. But despite this, Gary never trained it, taught it any move, nor evolved it into a Kingler, and has been at Professor Oak's lab since day one. Paul on the other hand, while he does have a tendency to release a Pokémon, if he deems it pathetic or not worth his time, the ones he does deem worthy will be trained to be a force to be reckoned with.
Boomstick: In the end, Gary's chances of winning were "crushed".
The Winner is Paul and his Pokémon. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
