Orochimaru vs Medusa is a what-if DEATH BATTLE, featuring Orochimaru the Naruto series and Medusa Gorgon from the Soul Eater series in a battle of serpentine scientists.
Tagline[]
They have spent their lives studying forbidden knowledge, but today, these slivering villains will try to devour the other.
Interlude[]
Wiz: As a genius scientist once said, 'to obtain power is to obtain knowledge, and to obtain knowledge must striven for no matter who or what you must sacrificed.'
Boomstick: Who said that?
Wiz: Me. I said that. Which is why I can relate to today's fighters and why we go through so many interns.
Boomstick: Orochimaru, the immortality seeking snake-ninja from Naruto.
Wiz: And Medusa Gorgon, the mad anarchist witch from Soul Eater.
Boomstick: He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick.
Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win...a Death Battle.
Orochimaru is experimenting on DEATH BATTLE![]
Wiz: While a countless number of talented ninjas has been train and raised in the Hidden Leaf Village, very few have stood out like the three legendary Sannin.
Boomstick: There's Jiraiya, who's as strong as he is perverted. Tsunade, who can break every bone in your body, and then heal you up for another pounding. But if you want infamy, then let's talk about Orochimaru.
Wiz: Orphaned at a young age, Orochimaru enrolled into Ninja Academy, possibly as a way to cope for the loss of his parents, and quickly excelled as a ninja prodigy. But, being exposed to people dying around him and his friends caused to hate the concept of mortality. Wanting to defeat death itself, he spent his life to become to "ultimate being".
Boomstick: Which is a villainous way of saying he wants immortality.

Wiz: As a ninja, he would learn how to weaponize chakra, which in the world of Naruto, is mixture of physical and spiritual energy that can be used to preform superhuman feats called jutsus. While jutsu is a very broad term, they typically come in one of three main forms: Taijutsu, which is focuses on hand-to-hand combat. Genjutsu, which sends chakra to disrupt an opponent's five-senses to create illusions.
Boomstick: And then there's Orochimaru's favorite: Ninjutsu, which uses that chakra to create random-bullshit ninja magic! Heck, the dude was obsessed with learning every kind of it in the world.
Wiz: A typical requirement to become a kage, the ninja leader of the hidden ninja villages, is to learn and master over a jutsu, and by the age of 50, he was easily able to the Hidden Sand's Kazekage, as well as his own mentor, who became the 3rd Hokage. And given his own studies, he likely knows far more than just a thousand.
Boomstick: He can use any of the five elements. He can breathe fire, make mud clones, and what really blows are his powerful wind attacks that can uproot trees. That's about as strong as a category 2 hurricane.
Wiz: He's especially well known for his use of summoning jutsus, particularly the type he made a pact with, which is, if his name didn't give it away, snakes.

Pop-Up: Not every snake, particularly Manda, obey Orochimaru easily.
Boomstick: Snakes. Why does it have to be--err, never mind. Too easy.
Wiz: While he can simply summon them like the summoning jutsu normally does, such as the massive Manda or Aoda, his studies has allowed him to get more creative, such as summoning dozens of smaller snakes from his sleeves, or hundreds, if not thousands from his mouth.
Boomstick: Eww. EWW.
Wiz: Each of which can even conceal swords in their stomachs. He's also delve into more forbidden jutsus such as raising the dead, planting curses, and even steal people's faces.
Boomstick: I...I don't wanna do this anymore. I don't think I like snakes anymore. How about we talk about his Rashomon gates, which are these super pissed-off looking doors that are really hard to open. He can even make this super strong sword by...regurgitating it from his mouth...okay, this is getting gross again. I'm taking a break.
Wiz: Wait, what? You can't--
Boomstick: Fuck you, I can. I don't have enough beer to stomach all this. Get Jo to talk about the gross snake sword. I'll be right back.
Jocelyn: OOH! Are we talking about the legendary Sword of Kusanagi?
Wiz: Well, the Naruto version of it at least.
Jocelyn: Still somewhat relevant, actually. In Japanese folklore, the Kusanagi was one of the three imperial treasures of Japan, which was originally a part of Yamato No Orochi, a giant 8-headed snake demon that Orochimaru was partly based off of. After it was slained by Susano-o, the God of Storms, who used a totsuka sword, he pulled the Kusanagi from the beast as his prize.
Wiz: Very interesting. Orochimaru's strongest snake-jutsu does in fact turn him to a giant 8-headed snake monster, and it was the sword of totsuka that would slayed him for a time. As for Orochimaru's version of the Kusanagi, he's shown great swordsmanship with, can telekinetically control it, and the blade is capable of hurting foes with defenses as strong as a diamond.
Pop-Up: This telekinesis has only been used with the Kusanagi, implying that the power is connected to the sword itself.
Boomstick: Okay, I'm back. Had a few and I've got a few more right here.
Jocelyn: Can...I have one?
"Boomstick tosses Joce a beer"
Boomstick: Okay. Bring on the gross stuff.
Wiz: Well, as we mentioned before, Orochimaru's end goal is to achieve immortality, and was willing to perform many inhuman experiments on himself and others, some of which is essentially body horror. He even went as far as leaving the Hidden Leaf and founded his own village just so he can get his own live test subjects with no outside interference...and eventually launch an invasion against the Leaf.
Boomstick: The Hidden Sound village! So what, does someone hide it by screaming really, really loud? Or is there like a rock concert that's always playing?
Wiz: With this new "village", he was free to perform all kinds of experiments and surgeries no matter how unethical or murderous they were, creating many shinobi with genetic alterations or mechanical enhancements to create new superhuman capabilities. Some of the more successful experiments were even incorporated into Orochimaru himself, granting him improved physical strength, durability, and improved healing.
Boomstick: He also altered his body so that he can dislocate every bone in his body and move around like an actual snake. What can I say. Dude wants to be a snake.
Wiz: He kind of literally turned into a snake. He can re-attach limbs or even halves of his body with his snakes, regurgitate an entirely new body free of damage, although consuming a lot of chakra, and if he's pushed into a corner, he can transform into his entire body into a giant, white snake.
Boomstick: Nice try. I'm ready this time.
"Opens up another can of beer"
Boomstick: I'm also prepared to mention that this big ugly snake form isn't just for making Indiana Jones shit himself in fear. It's also another part of the whole immortal thing.
Wiz: Right. By consuming a living person in this form, Orochimaru can actually transfer his own soul into the new body. While it can only be done every few years, this allowed him to extend his life, replacing an older body with a younger one, which technically created a way for him to achieve immortality. It also allowed him to directly acquire unique genetic abilities from potential victims. One of his biggest goals was to use this to acquire the sharingan, an optic ability unique to the Uchiha clan which, among mother powers, can instantly memorize and copy jutsus.
Boomstick: And remember, this guy wants to learn everything, so the sharingan would've let him do exactly that. For that reason, he decided to hunt down Itachi, who was one of the last living members of the Uchiha.
Wiz: ...who also happened to have been one of the strongest ninjas alive and got the drop on Orochimaru before the other way around could happen and almost killed him.
Boomstick: Question; Itachi himself has claimed that Jirayia, another of the sannin, could defeat him and his teammate 1v2, and Orochimaru should be even stronger. How the hell did this happen?
Wiz: It's likely that Orochimaru could defeat Itachi in a straight up brawl if it came down to skill and experience. However, Itachi's talent and mastery over genjutsu, which far exceeded even Orochimaru, whom the data books also has this skill maxed out at. Simply put, on Itachi's terms, Orochimaru could never realistically defeat him, and was too strong to fight without the risk of death.
Pop-Up: Itachi had also grown weaker over the years due to an illness, which would've cripled his stamina.
Boomstick: So instead, he prompted to hunt after Itachi's younger brother, Sasuke, so that he could put himself into the little boy's body.
.
..
...
Boomstick: Oh, that's why there were so many Michael Jackson jokes with this guy. Well after he did try to take Sasuke's body, Sasuke did the same crazy eye magic thing and trapped Orochimaru's soul in his body without getting taken over, basically killing the guy...until Orochimaru came escape and live, and then died again...and then come back to life agai--it got weird and convoluted.
Wiz: With his last revival, his new body was made with a white Zetsu clone. Long story short, these Zetsu clones could shapeshift, regenerate limbs instantly, and survive without nourishment. With these cells, Orochimaru himself was given the same abilities.
Boomstick: Great. The dude was already cheating death more than Mr. Burns. Now he has Deadpool powers. I guess he finally got that immortality he wanted.
Wiz: Somewhat. Fortunately by this point, he had witnessed the progress Sasuke had made with his own growth, who had lived a life of hatred and sought revenge on the world, only to evolve and wish to protect it all. This in turn inspired Orochimaru to have more value in another's life. When he created his clone-son, he even ensured that Mitsuki would have complete independence and could live his life as he chooses.
Boomstick: And his son chose to be obsessed over a little boy with weird eye-powers. Yeah, the apple didn't fall far from that tree. So what, he's like reformed now?
Wiz: Again, somewhat. He's still constantly working to obtain all knowledge, but he's stopped performing his more inhumane experiments and murders. Which is great, because his ambitions made him one of the most dangerous ninjas to have ever existed.

- Feats:
- Completed over a 1000 missions
- Killed the 3rd Hokage and 4th Kazikage
- Matched Jiraiya and Tsunade in battle
- Blocked 4-tails Tailed Beast Bomb
- Induced fear into kakashi Hatake
- Survived Pain's Almighty Push
--
Boomstick: This was a guy with killing intent so intense, it causes paralysis. He can react to lightspeed laser beams, even when having a sneezing fit, and even other other tier-1 ninja like Kakashi, who later became Hokage, shits himself when facing him.
Wiz: Kakashi is another ninja that can be considered one of the Leaf's bests, who could intercept lightning after it was launched, and thus moving over 2000 times the speed of sound (As determined in Obi Wan Vs Kakashi). Even more impressively, he is on par, if not stronger, than his old teammate Jiraiya, whose strongest attack can destroy mountains. As the technique in question, the Massive Rasengan, damages through grinding and pulverization, the damage done would be worth about 40 megatons of TNT.
Pop-up: The 3rd Hokage feared Orochimaru could single-handedly destroy a small country. This further supports Jiraiya's own mountain busting feat.
Boomstick: And you know how Itachi didn't think he could beat Jiraiya? Well, his partner Kisame _really_ didn't think he could win, so he probably wouldn't do much better against Orochimaru. And this shark dude survived a punch from 7-gates Might Guy, who made an island sized blast. That's like getting hit by a hundred Tsar Bombas all at once.
Wiz: No surprise really, as Orochimaru has even been tough enough to survived battling against Naruto in a tailed beast form, even landing some good hits, despite the fact that even the diamond-damaging Kusanagi couldn't pierce its hide.
Boomstick: And Naruto in that form spat out a loogie that nuked a forest and vaporized three of those pissed off doors of his, and Orochimaru was right behind them. Sure, the attack was technically blocked, but looking at the damage done, they probably didn't block that much.
Wiz: While he may be relatively pacified now, it is certainly better for the new generation of ninja to see Orochimaru has a friendly face instead as the face of evil.
"The body ages, but the mind is immortal."
-Orochimaru.
Medusa has bewitched DEATH BATTLE![]
Wiz: Death Weapon Meister Academy: A school made with the important purpose of preventing the birth of new kishins; demon gods that consumed enough pure, untainted souls to become all powerful. Led by the benevolent Lord Death, he seeks to prevent chaos and maintain world order.
Boomstick: And what's a school without a bit of rivalry. While the DWMA likes law and justice, the Order of Witches love bring chaos and destruction, usually just for the hell of it.
Wiz: Witches are physically similar to human but are naturally imbued with vast magical energies and an instinct for destruction. While this doesn't inherently make all witches bad, it did lead to them waging battle against the Academy for centuries with both side constantly evolving their skills and weapons. Essentially, a magical arms race.
Boomstick: You know, me and Wiz got into a little arms race once. We got banned from Canada sooo fast.
Wiz: We definitely went overboard there.
Boomstick: Well, we aren't the only ones to realize that. As it turns out, even witches have standards for when it comes to how much destruction they can take, because they don't really care about the idea of having that kishin guy coming back and...well, kill everyone.
Wiz: But, one witch in particular wanted to do exactly that; Medusa Gorgon.
--
- Full Name: Medusa Gorgon
- Age: 800+
- Race: Witch
- Middle child of the Gorgon sisters
- Mother of Crona Gorgon
- Named after the greek monster of the same name.
- Formerly a school nurse
--
Boomstick: I also want to add that we did our best figuring out why she wants to release the kishin, and our only guess; She is just that evil.
Wiz: What we do know is that she was an active threat as far back as the 12th century, which was 800 years before the present day, having previous helped her sister, Arachne Gorgon, in creating their own demon weapons; Human with the ability to transform themselves into a literal weapon. Ironically, these same weapons were made specially for killing witches and are made using their souls.
Pop-up: To be precise, the oldest known event in Soul Eater was 800 years in the past. As witches age slower than humans, Medusa should be much older.
Boomstick: And Medusa was all 'nuts to that' and left her for dead so that she can make her own human weapon for her own evil plan to revive the kishin. So she squeezed out a kid, kidnapped some dude, and began experimenting them to make that perfect weapon.
Wiz: This was Chrona and Ragnorok, who we've talk about before.
Boomstick: Yep. This is their evil mother that mentally, physically, and spiritually broke them down. Kind of like Boot Camp with Mama Boomstick, but without the motherly love.
Wiz: While Medusa's goal was to make Crona the all-powerful keisin, her own capabilities are nothing to scoff at. She already was considered one of, if not thee most powerful witch around. Like most witches, she's capable of highly destructive magic with lots of utility, such as seals and flight. Her own brand of magic involves creating and controlling snakes from within her bodies.
She can also hide the presence of her own soul. However, this comes at the cost of being unable to use her magic.
Boomstick: Okay, I know I already made an Indiana Jones joke, but is she like that one snake from Temple of Doom? You know, the one that got cut open and a bunch of baby snakes came out?

Wiz: Gross...but, sort of. These aren't literal snakes. More like magic constructs shaped like snakes, and are used to perform other magic spells. The tattoos are her arms, the Light Serpent, is one such example, which will act entirely on their simply by command. All 1,000 of them.
Boomstick: Ew. EW! Why would she want that? I can only imagine how horrible a feeling of have hundreds of snakes crawling around from inside your body.
Wiz: Funny that you should say that. She can force others to swallow some of her snakes to allow her to track, talk, or even just straight up kill her victims from the inside-out.
Pop-Up: Those who are fed these snakes are not immediately aware that they are even in their own body.
Boomstick: Yeah, I think I've decided what I'm going to do after this; Hunt and kill every God damn snake on this planet. Because, EWW!!! Let me know when the gross stuff is over.
Wiz: On, no. We're done.
Boomstick: Oh, thank God. I can only get so drunk for this.
Wiz: But we're also not done with the snakes themselves yet, as they serve as the conduits for her Direct Attack Spells, the offensive magic that witches are infamous for. Attacks like the Vector Arrow, which unleashes a barrage with her snakes, or surround herself with the defensive Vector Vortex. She can crush enemies into a ball with Vector Compress, or pierce through their flesh with Vector Drill.
Boomstick: But her best move at all is her Vector Plate attack, one of which I stole. You know those speed boost panel in Sonic games?
Wiz: Umm...yeah?
Boomstick: Well, watch what happens when I place one under Wiz's feet?
Wiz: Wait, wait, no! That will--AHHHH!
"CRASH!!!"
Boomstick: That was for grossing me out...bastard. Anyway, these things will force anyone that steps over them to go flying in whatever direction they face, even Medusa herself. Unlike me though, she doesn't really have a limit to how many she can place down.
Wiz: Ow...it's...it's a very versatile spell that allows for highspeed movement, and by placing them as a circle, it becomes possible to trap foes inside.
Boomstick: And since they work on her, she can use it to both make herself faster and hit even harder...like so. CANNONBALL!
Wiz: OH, GOD NO!
"CRASH....again!!!"
Wiz: Had your fun yet?
Boomstick: Hehe...yeah.
Wiz: Anyway, Medusa's versatile magic allows her to excel in both offense and defense. Even in hand-to-hand combat, she was more than a match for Franken Stein, the best Meister to graduate from Death Academy, and given how strong even the students were, that says a lot.
Boomstick: This same guy could beat Maka and Black☆Star at the same time, the latter who can dodge lasers raining down on him. This is also the same Black☆Star that could dash 20 meters in 6 milliseconds.
Wiz: Meaning he was moving nearly 10,000 times the speed of sound (as shown in Venom vs Crona), and Medusa can fight off superior meisters like Stein. In fact, the only reason Stein was able to land the killing blow on her in their fight was because, in that conflict, Medusa knew that she had already won and dropped her guard.
Boomstick: And so, she died with a big evil grin on her face...until she didn't, because even in death, she lived! And she did it by putting her soul inside of a little girl. Now where have I heard that before?
Wiz: If allowed, Medusa can potentially possess animals or even some people by transferring her soul into their body, and was able to find a girl suitable for her soul. While she did held the little girl hostage for a time, she eventually took over the body sister, Arachne, after she died. With her new body, she was able to resume her work and finished her latest creations.
Boomstick: The most evil thing a witch like her could possibly make...clowns. Even just looking at these things will cause all to go nuts and lose their hope in humanity.
Wiz: Not entirely wrong, although we might be thinking of different clowns. What Medusa specifically made were artificial variants of clowns, which are physical embodiments of madness. Unlike the textbook definition of madness, which is basically insanity, madness within the Soul Eater world is a force that can exist in all living things that can spread across other, corrupting the mind and soul.
Boomstick: And just like real life clowns, these clown naturally generate madness as a wavelength to make people go nuts! Creating horrifying illusions to scare the crap out of you.
Wiz: Now, these man-made clowns are individual minds that follow Medusa's beck and call, but they are not something that she can just magically summon. More akin to henchman if anything. However, she did create a smaller, portable clown made specifically for her own personal use.
Boomstick: This tiny nightmare fuel isn't a fighter but can still make madness illusions on specific targets that are just as terrifying as the others, and because it's so small, Medusa can bring it around like a tiny dog in a purse. She can even use it to make herself stronger!
Wiz: Through Madness Fusion, Medusa can use the madness wavelength to greatly empower her snakes, greatly boosting their power and speed. This made her strong enough to fight Justin Law for a while, who was not only in the same ballpark as Stein but was also infused with madness as well.
Pop-up: While Medusa has only been shown using Madness Fusion on her snakes specifically, there's nothing to suggest that she can't use it directly on herself as well.

- Feats:
- Created the black blood, Ragnarok, and clowns.
- Revived Kishin Asura
- Infiltrated the DWMA undetected
- Nearly killed Franken Stein
- Survived bisection from said Stein.
- Survived an encounter with Justin Law

Boomstick: She was already one of, if not thee strongest witches around. Other witches like her Archne was even responsible for bombing an island. A blast we believe to be worth about 10 megatons of TNT.
Wiz: She also had full control over her child Crona for a long time, and it wasn't until they grew powerful enough to completely and utterly destroy a city before they were finally able to kill her.
The city in question was most likely Kiev of Ukraine. The destruction would've been the equivalent of about 5 gigatons of TNT
Boomstick: But that's kind of what Medusa wanted. She wanted Crona to become an evil sociopathic monster, and it wasn't until they did that she hugged them like a mother. And they killed her because they couldn't even comprehend motherly love because she never showed it before!
Wiz: Which, again, was all part of her evil plan. And with her dying breath, having accomplished her goal of making the ultimate weapon, she finally said to her child 'I love you.'
Boomstick: You know Wiz, I see a lot of people put Shou Tucker on top of the worst parent list, but this...I think we have a challenger.
Wiz: At the very least, she did leave exactly what both a parent and a villain wish to leave behind...a legacy.
"Fear is what creates order."
-Medusa Gorgon
Fight[]
"Lord Orochimaru, there has been no sightings on the intruder."
Near the entrance to the Hidden Sound Village, Orochimaru and two of his Sound ninjas were on their guard. They were certain that an enemy was around but struggled to find them. The three then split up into the forest to continue the search, with the two minions going together and Orochimaru alone.
This proved to be a mistake, because the moment Orochimaru turned his back, one of the minions was grabbed from above, which startled the other. The second turned to find his partner missing, only to quickly be abducted as well, letting out a short-lived scream that alerted Orochimaru. When he looked up to find where they went, he found their intruder.
Up in the air and sitting on top a flying broom, Medusa sat as she had the unfortunate pair of ninjas tied and hanging below. She wore a cruel smile on her face as she looked down on Orochimaru. "I was hoping for more test subjects, but I guess two will do for now."
Seeing the witch above, Orochimaru grabbed for a pair of kunai and threw them straight and true. However, they headed nowhere near Medusa herself. Instead, the knives sliced through the ropes that held his ninja hostage, which caused them to fall to the ground below, injured, but otherwise safe. Naturally, this annoyed the witch.
"Apologies, but I've promised these men relatively 'safer' work conditions."
"Fine, then. I'll just make you my guinea pig instead."
With each scientist fixated on the other, the only thing on their minds was to dissect the other as brutally as they could. In other words...
FIGHT!!!
Once more, Orochimaru pulled out a handful of kunai and threw them up, but Medusa casually flew away without getting hit. Without moving her butt off of the broom, she began her counterattack.
"Vector Arrows!" As she crossed her arms, magic arrows flew from out of Medusa's back and flew straight down.
"Snake hands!" From out of Orochimaru's sleeve, numerous large snakes emerged to intercept the attack.
Many snakes came from up and down and were either pierced by Medusa's or devoured by Orochimaru's. Before long, every single snake from both sides were ripped to shreds and created a stalemate.
"Summoning Jutsu!" Orochimaru after as he bit his thumb and placed his hand on the ground. Afterwards, a significantly larger snake appeared in a cloud of smoke and leapt upward toward Medusa with the hopes of eating her in a single bite.
"Vector Storm!"
Sadly for the snake, it was immediately countered by a defensive spell and was horrifically eviscerated as if it dove into a high-speed blender. Seeing the massive snake being ripped to shreds did nothing but make Medusa laugh at its misfortune.
While she was distracted though, Orochimaru made his way to the top of a tall tree to prepare his next attack. After performing several hand signs, he performed Great Breakthrough, creating gust of wind that was so powerful, Medusa struggled to keep control of her broom. It took all of her strength just to keep herself from flying off.
"Now your mine!" Orochimaru declared as he leapt off the tree and gunned straight to the witch. With an evil smile of his own, he was ready to go in for a quick kill...
Only to be met with Medusa's foot landing straight into his face.
With her other foot, she then dropped an axe kick directly into Orochimaru's skull cap, which rocketed him straight to the ground. After a long fall, he landed headfirst into the Earth, burying it while the rest of his limbs went limp.
As that happened, Medusa casually flew away as she laughed at her fallen opponent, pleased with the humiliation that she delivered.
The laughter, sadly, was short lived. As Medusa's attention was on Orochimaru's body, she failed to notice that in the direction she was traveling, Orochimaru's head emerged from the ground with his neck extended long enough to reach the witch's height. When he got close enough, he revealed the Kusanagi blade from his mouth and extended it out at high speeds.
As Medusa turned her eyes forward, she was too late. She was stabbed in the shoulder by the Kusanagi, which knocked her off of her broom. Not only that, but the impact from the attack also caused her to drop her purple clown, which fell into the forest below. Before joining the clown, Medusa grabbed hold of her broom in a final attempt to stay airborne.
Orochimaru then retracted the blade back into his mouth, and upon its return, he opened his mouth wide enough that he was able to regurgitate an entirely new body, which leapt from the discarded body with the Kusanagi in hand. When he got close enough, he swung the blade down and sliced Medusa's broom in two.
Before she fell into the forest though, she grabbed and pulled on Orochimaru's hand, which caused both of them to fall into the forest below. Both bounced off of multiple tree branches before making a, relatively, safe landing, with Orochimaru tumbling as he hit the ground while Medusa managed to stick the landing on her feet.
"Hahahaha. Snake. Snake. Cobra. Cobra." Medusa chanted as she summoned forth her snakes. "Snake. Snake. Cobra! Cobra!"
An army of magic snakes darted toward the ninja, but he charged dauntlessly toward them, either sidestepping out of harm's way or slice the snakes in two with his sword. In no time at all, he closed the gap and grabbed hold of Medusa's head.
"What a lovely smile you have. Let me have it." Orochimaru said before ripping her face off of her head.
With Medusa's face in his hand, Orochimaru took a look at what was left...only to be horrified by what was underneath. What reminded was not a faceless head, but the face of the kishin, Asura, who reacted by bending forward to take a bite out of Orochimaru's own face.
During this close-range encounter, Orochimaru failed to notice that he was under the influence of the Purple Clown's madness until he was around captured by it, which left him completely vulnerable. Naturally, the clown was laughing at Orochimaru's misery.
"Genjutsu? Ugh. Release!"
In a jiffy, the illusion he was placed dispersed, and he returned to reality. Albeit a little too late, because when he saw the real Medusa, she empowered by the same madness and resumed her attack.
She unleashed a brutal onslaught of punches, with each hit landing a heavy blow. Every time Orochimaru stepped back, the barrage of blows resumed immediately after as Medusa refused to pause. Orochimaru tried to swing his sword mid-combo, but Medusa grabbed the hand, ripped it clean off the arm, tossed it aside, and resumed punching. While hit by the combos, Orochimaru regrew a new hand to replace the lost one, and after it regrew, he slipped a punch square into Medusa's face. This was followed by a strong kick that knocked Medusa away. With some distance gained, Orochimaru perform a few handsigns for his next attack. "Fire style: Fireball Jutsu"
But Medusa laughed at what appeared to have been a pathetic attempt to counterattack. "Vector Plates!" And upon her command, a large arrow appeared on the ground, which then repelled the fire without it ever reaching her.
Orochimaru then charged forward, only for Medusa to summon another vector plate under his feat, which launched him backwards. He managed to land on his feet, but as he regained his composure, he found himself completely surrounded by Medusa's arrows. Even after only seeing the arrows in action twice, he realized that he was trapped inside.
"Now you're mine. Vector Plates!"
With a new Vector Plate summoned under her feet, Medusa launched herself at highspeeds, accelerating further as she summoned additional arrows underneath. As she picked up speed, she created Vector Drills to spin around her hand to prepare for when she reached her target.
With the witch moving quickly, Orochimaru called for his sword to fly back to him. However, he quickly realized that Medusa was flying far faster than Kusanagi. Her attack reaching him was inevitable. With an idea to defend himself, Orochimaru took a light bite into both of thumbs, performed five hand signs, and slammed his hands into the ground.
"Summoning Jutsu!"
POOF!
KLANG!!!
And the summoning was successful. A giant Rashomon gate appeared, destroying the arrows on the ground, and more importantly, stopping Medusa's assault. Incidentally, this caused her to leave a cartoonish imprint of her (still smiling) face and hands in the iron gate.
Shortly after, the Kusanagi reached Orochimaru's hand, who then swung it full force across the gate, slicing its top half off from where the imprint was. Unfortunately for him, he saw that Medusa had already managed to make her way out of the gate before the cut...and she was not happy. As she had become livid, she retrieved the purple clown that she had previously dropped.
"I've had enough of this stupidity. Light Serpent! Madness Fusion!" Medusa yelled as her snake tattoo came alive, grown gigantic by the Purple Clown's madness.
Orochimaru released a nest of snakes from his free arm to attack the Light Serpent, only for them to meet a gruesome demise as they were rip to shreds by Serpant's maw. It then then dove forward to bite Orochimaru, who managed to block the attack by holding up his sword, although serpent still pushed him back.
As Orochimaru pushed the Light Serpent back, Medusa snuck in from behind, readied her Vector Drill in her hand and stabbed him from behind. Alerted by the pain, he spun back around to get a swing in, but missed as the witch jumped back, with the Light Serpent making another attempt to bit him. During which Medusa had summoned additional arrows, empowered by the madness fusion, to join the attack. Between Medusa and the madness-infused snakes, Orochimaru was overwhelmed.
"Grr. She's...too much. Summoning Jutsu!" And with another summon, a giant serpant of his own appeared to take on Medusa's Light Serpent, with both snakes taking bites out of the other while trying to wrap themselves around the other. With one less attacker, Orochimaru turned to Medusa and performed handsigns for an attack specifically for her. "Ninja Art--"
"I'll take those."
As Orochimaru had finished his signs, Medusa grabbed him by the shoulders, placed her foot on his chest for leverage, and then, with one swift action, ripped Orochimaru's arms clean out of their sockets. The pained scream of losing his limbs brought great pleasure to the evil witch. But it didn't end there.
After she tossed the arms aside, she dove underneath to land a kick to the chin. Orochimaru was briefly launched, but Medusa grabbed a leg and ripped that off too. After she grabbed hold of his shirt, she proceeded to rip the other leg off as well. Finally, with both of her hands on the ninja's neck, she violently tore his head from his torso, spewing blood everywhere.
"You were quite something. Studying you will feel earned. Hahaha."
All of this had happened so fast that Orochimaru's legs hadn't even touched the ground by the time his head was torn off. With the fight over, Medusa tossed his head and body aside along with the rest of his pieces.
However, the moment Orochimaru's head touched the ground, Medusa saw it morph into a large snake.
For that matter, all of his limbs had morphed into snakes, and Medusa found that they had completely surrounded her and began hissing very loudly, almost as if each snake made the others louder. She had no idea what was going on, but the fight seemingly continuing infuriated her.
"Never mind, this has gotten stupid. Vector Arrows!" She tried to summon her snakes, but in their place were more of Orochimaru's, which appeared from behind her and wrapped themselves around her, restricting the movements of her arms. Meanwhile, the hiss kept getting louder and louder. "What are you doing? Attack {i}them{i/}, not me. Obey me! OBEY ME!
"Obey me...obey me..."
In truth, much of what happened...didn't actually happen. While she was successful in ripping Orochimaru's arms off, that was when she got captured by Orochimaru's genjutsu, leaving her mumbling while she stood in one spot.
"I can't believe you fell for that. Let's end this."
As Orochimaru was using his snakes to slowly reattach his arms, he landed a kick on Medusa with enough force that it sent her flying. She went fairly far, but after a set distance, she flew over one of her own vector plates, which then sent her flying back in the direction she came in. The only difference was that she flew faster.
Initially, the plates were a fortunate thing as the shock from the sudden directional changed caused Medusa to wake up from the genjutsu. Unfortunately, the first thing she saw when she woke up were several dozen purple snakes coiled up in front of her. As she approached them, they surprised her again by revealing the tips of swords emerge from their mouths.
As Medusa flew through the sea of snakes, each one stabbed and cut her as she went past them, which inflicted many cuts across her body. As she flew deeper and deeper, they began to cut off her arms and one of her legs. Finally, when she reached Orochimaru, with his arms re-attached and held onto the Kusanagi, he delivered one final swing downwards.
SHING!!!
Behind him, two halves of the witch flew by, and before they hit the ground, they exploded into as hundreds of snakes inside blasted off in all directions, which left no traces of the body behind. All that remained was the witch's soul that floated idlily where Medusa last was.
Orochimaru turned to see the remaining soul and let out a sigh of relief. "Ugh. What a scary woman."

KO!
Boomstick: I mean, I guess that's one way of killing a witch. I personally find that dropping a house works best.
Wiz: This was a little tricky as simply comparing numbers didn't give us any satisfying answers. Both had advantages that can be interpreted in a way that would allow either one to take the win.
Boomstick: For example, the mountain busting feat Orochimaru scaled to was about 4 times more powerful than the island explosion that Medusa could scale to, making Orochi that much stronger. But, thanks to Madness Fusion, that gap is probably much smaller.
Wiz: Overwhelming the likes of Stein and Black☆Star also meant that Medusa could move at Mach 9708, which is over 4 times greater than the Mach 2225 lightning feat Orochimaru would scale to. Combine that solid speed advantage with her flight and vector plates, and she would have complete battlefield control.
Boomstick: But the difference in speed is almost identical to the difference in power. Plus, Orochimaru has been able to dodge lasers, so he can still keep up with Medusa. Like Wiz said, all of this amounts to them being roughly equal to each other.
Wiz: Even the power needed to guarantee a one-shot against either one would require striking them on the gigaton level, so even factoring durability seems to be moot. Since evaluating their strength, speed, and durability amounts to little, this match-up came down to the more finesse aspects of a fight; Their skills, tools, counters, and intelligence.
Boomstick: That last one's an easy one for Medusa, right? She's like a thousand years old.
Wiz: Not necessarily. While she's more than 10 times his age, it's important to know where those years have been spent. All of Medusa's plans had been made not for direct personal gain, but rather creating or freeing others with much greater power. In contrast to Orochimaru, who's entire life's ambition is geared towards self-improvement.
Boomstick: And it's exactly that lifelong goal of mastering jutsu that has allowed him to learn possibly thousands of different jutsu techniques. Even with just the ones we know that he can do, this gives him a huge versatility advantage that can overwhelm Medusa and her own arsenal.
Wiz: Although her spells are limited in comparison, Medusa's destructive magic could certainly land some devastating damage to the likes of Orochimaru. However, even with her strongest attacks, she didn't have the reliable means to actually kill him. Not because of his durability, but because of his regenerative powers, which he has several different forms of to undo damage, be it reattaching limbs, regenerating them, or even just making entirely new bodies altogether. This means, even if she were given the chance, it would be incredibly difficult to land a killing blow.
While it costs chakra is use, Orochimaru had made new bodies for himself several times during his fight with 4-tails Naruto, who've been more powerful Medusa and himself combined.
Boomstick: Even with that speed advantage, it's not a big enough gap to blitz Orochimaru outright. I guess the evil clown can create an opening by making him insane, but that same kind of illusions can be broken free fairly easily just by having enough self-awareness, and ninjas like Orochimaru are trained to dispel illusions all on their own. Aside from that, she didn't really have many ways to make a good opening.
Wiz: In contrast, Orochimaru wouldn't have the same problems for landing a killing blow on Medusa. While her defenses are strong, she does not have any sort of regenerative powers, meaning damage done to her will stick. And much like a normal human, a vital hit can potentially lead to death.
Boomstick: Like how Stein and Spirit Albarn were able to cut Medusa in half from the waist down and killed her. Not only has Orochimaru survived and recovered from that exact injury, but with a sword as strong as the diamond breaking Kusanagi, he could do that too. But just like Medusa, he still needed that opening to pull it off.
Pop-Up: As Orochimaru can freely control his body and summon snakes through it, he can directly counter Medusa's attempts to place snakes inside his body.
Wiz: While Orochimaru's kit includes varies ways to bind or slowdown his opponents, there exists one method that can lock Medusa down very easily; Genjutsu. Yes, canonically, Orochimaru has never personally displayed any specific gentjutsu technique, we do know for a fact that he is skilled in it. According to the Sha No Sho, an official databook for the Naruto franchise, Orochimaru is a highly skilled genjutsu user, which makes sense as his life goal is to master ALL jutsus.
Boomstick: Meaning that he can totally make an illusion to trap Medusa in, and unlike madness-induced illusion, you can't free yourself from a genjutsu just by knowing that you're trapped in one. It's also not an attack on your sanity, but your five senses, so the purple clown wouldn't protect her from it.
Wiz: Since her snakes are independently acting creatures, it IS possible for them to free her as an outside source by harming her. However, keeping Medusa trapped in an illusion isn't what's important. What's important is that it guarantees an opening that allows Orochimaru to land the killing blow. And again, if that doesn't work, Orochimaru's overwhelmingly large array of jutsus would create an opening eventually.
Boomstick: Wait a minute, Wiz. We forgot another wincon. When Medusa died the first time, she cheated death by sneaking her soul into someone else's body. If shit hits the fan, can't she do that here?
Wiz: Well, she can, and she can't. Every time she transferred her soul in the past, she's always had to put it into a body that was combatable with her soul, hence why she had to choose a little girl someone like Stein. In fact, the only reason she was able to steal her sister's body was because Arachne was already dead. And even if she were to claim a new body, nothing would stop her from being killed again after transferring into a significantly weaker body.
Boomstick: And since Orochimaru's body is barely even human anymore, chances are that Medusa wouldn't even get possessing him as an option.
Wiz: On the other hand, Orochimaru's own body possession technique does not have the same problems. In fact, he prefers bodies that differs from normal humans, and while body and soul compatibility is still important, he can keep his soul in improper bodies for 3 whole years.
Boomstick: Meaning Orochimaru's body stealing technique is not only less situational, but more powerful than Medusa's and could totally Reverse Uno her on the body snatching. Now sure, none of this is guaranteed and it's possible that Medusa's soul could get away, but even in the best-case scenario, she would still be down and out of the fight, and that's good enough for us.
Wiz: Medusa's relentless personality, villainous genius and brutal spells made this no easy fight. However, Orochimaru happened to possess the power, defences, and techniques needed to spell Medusa's end.
Boomstick: "Orochi" glad we didn't say Medusa? Hehe...wait, spell Medusa's...oh damn, that's a pun! That's my thing!
Wiz: The winner is Orochimaru.
Trivia[]
- The connections between Orochimaru and Medusa are that both are anime antagonists with snake motifs and can summon and control snakes. Both are highly intelligent and spent years performing inhumane experiments to reach their goals, and both have done so on children in their care (Sasuke Uchiha and Crona Gorgon respectively). Both have also used their abilities to take over another's body in order to avoid death.
- This is the third episode done by Animegx43 to feature a Naruto character, after Jinbe vs Kisame and Laxus vs Killer Bee.
