Interlude[]

Wiz: Teachers and mentors are the ones that help build up the next generation, carefully shaping the future so that it can be left to their successors to carry on their legacy.

Boomstick: But no one ever said it would be easy, and being a mentor has its own challenges. A perfect way to describe our combatants, who are some of the greatest heroes and mentors ever!

Wiz: Obi-Wan Kenobi, the Negotiator and Jedi Master.

Boomstick: And Minato Namikaze, Konoha's Yellow Flash and Fourth Hokage. He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick!

Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win... a Death Battle.

Obi-Wan Kenobi[]

Obi-Wan Kenobi: We will each be challenged; our trust, our faith, our friendships, but we must persevere. And in time, a new hope will emerge.

Minato Namikaze[]

Minato Namikaze: Those who stray from the path of justice have no courage, but under the wing of a strong leader, cowardice cannot survive.

DEATH BATTLE![]

Conclusion[]

Original Track[]

An Original Track for this fight would be titled "Hello there, Hokage!".

The title is a reference to Obi-Wan's memorable quote from Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith ("Hello there") and the title bestowed to Minato when he became the Hidden Leaf Village's leader (Hokage). When read as a quote, the title also references Obi-Wan's diplomatic and formal personality.

Trivia[]

  • The connections between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Minato Namikaze are that they are intelligent, modest, selfless mentors. Both were trained from a young age to learn how to use spiritual energy at an academy (Jedi Academy and Ninja Academy), appointed as apprentice to an unorthodox, but kind mentor (Qui-Gon Jinn and Jiraiya). Both are renowned for their exceptional proficiency (Obi-Wan’s defence and Minato’s speed), which was used to great effect during a large scale conflict, in which they held a leadership position (Obi-Wan as a General during The Clone Wars, and Minato as leader of Team Minato during the Third Shinobi World War). During these large scale conflicts, both would become renowned and carry a distinguishing epithet (The Negotiator and Konoha’s Yellow Flash, respectively). For their performance during the war, they were chosen to receive a position of authority (Jedi High Council Member and Fourth Hokage), surpassing what their masters achieved. While the war made them more renowned, it was also instrumental to the fall of their students (Anakin Skywalker and Obito Uchiha). Well after the end of the war, they would have a final confrontation with their fallen student, now hidden behind a new identity (Darth Vader and Tobi). During the battle with their fallen student, both recognized the danger that the protagonist (Luke Skywalker and Naruto Uzumaki) was in, so they sacrificed themselves to ensure the protagonist survived. Despite their deaths, powerful spiritual energy abilities (Force Ghost and Impure World: Reincarnation) allowed their souls to return to the living world, allowing them to guide the protagonist. Both would be confronted by the protagonist over their actions which had devastating effects on their livelihoods, despite being well-intended (Luke learning the truth that Darth Vader was his father, which Obi-Wan refused to say, and Minato sealing half of Kurama inside Naruto, resulting in Naruto being ostracized for his entire childhood). Their return to the living world allowed them to see the protagonist succeed where they couldn't, convincing their fallen students to redeem themselves and betray the one's responsible for manipulating their descent into darkness (Sheev Palpatine and Madara Uchiha). Their now-reedmed students, just as they did decades prior, sacrificed themselves to protect the protagonist.
    • Toshiyuki Morikawa portrays Obi-Wan Kenobi and Minato Namikaze in Japanese media.
