This is the fourth episode of Season Zero of JustaChecker290's Death Battle series. It features Nico Di Angelo from the Heroes of Olympus series against The Devil (Cuphead) from the Cuphead series. The previous episode being Green Goblin VS Ekko, and the next being Syndrome vs Bane. This episode was completed on 8th June, 2022.
Interlude[]
Wiz: Nico di Angelo, the demigod son of hades.
Boomstick: The Devil...a...devil.
Wiz: Hell has been interpreted in many different ways, in many different forms.
Boomstick: But none of them have really been written like these two.
Wiz: This will be a showdown for the ages.
He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick.
Wiz: And it’s our job to analyze their armor, weapons and skills, to find out who would win a DEATH BATTLE!
Nico di Angelo summons the undead for DEATH BATTLE[]
Wiz: The Big Three are a trio of the brothers of the most Powerful gods in existence. Zeus, the god of the sky, and lightning. Poseidon, the god of the ocean and the land. Last, but not least is Hades, the god of the underworld and riches, with all control over death. And at the end of the second world war, each promised each other they would never have demigod children again.
Boomstick: Well that didn't exactly of as planned. Look, let's be honest, just one look at this kid gives off incredible 'My dad is Satan' Vibes.
Wiz: Hades married Maria Di Angelo, an Italian woman. And so, Hades was gifted with two children, Bianca Di Angelo, and..Nico Di Angelo although the gift was more of a burden, as Hades felt shame for what he had done.
Boomstick: Like my own pops, Hades left as soon as the kids were born, right back to doing his underworld stuff. Except, my dad didn't, or did he? Wait, is my dad Satan?
Wiz: After some time, Nico and his sister lost their mother after Zeus struck the hotel they were staying in with a bolt of lightning, that tragically killed the siblings' mother. But Nico and his sister were promptly bathed in the river lethe which forced himself to forget everything that happened.
Boomstick: And at some point, he got stuck in this random casino in Las Vegas called the Lotus Casino, and stayed there for like 75 years. It somehow didn't age him though. Hold on, if this is the way to stay young forever, then I better book my stay there now.
Wiz: You would not want to Boomstick trust me, just imagine time slipping away for all eternity as you slowly but surely forget all your relationships and purpose in life. Eventually, you would forget everything else around your and probably your name.
Boomstick: Well, I guess I wouldn't want to lose Marshall.
Wiz: That's it? No-one else you wouldn't want to lose?
Boomstick: Nope, that's it.
Wiz: Well...anyway. Nico was born with ADHD, or, supernatural battle reflexes as they are supposed to be. His Dyslexia apparently means his brain is wired to read ancient Greek instead of modern languages. But greatest of all is his seemingly immeasurable willpower. He was able to survive in Tartarus for several days, while the average person would lose their sanity after mere moments inside it.
Boomstick: But that's not it, he also has Geokinesis, basically means he can levitate rocks and stuff. Osteokinesis allows him to control bones, but...why? Umbrakinesis allows him control over shadows, and other dark stuff. He can even hide in it
Wiz: But let's go over some number. Using his shadow transportation, he was able to move a 2500 pound statue at 300 miles per hour. We don't know Nico's weight, but we do know his height. '5'6'. The average person of that height weighs around 165lbs. So 2500 divided by 165 is just over 15. So 300 multiplied by 15 is about 4500 miles per hour. Or mach 2.5. So that's ho fast Nico must be able to transport himself. And this is juts rough calculate, so it may be faster than that.
Boomstick: And for some extra abilities, Nico can fire concentrated beams of darkness at the opponent, and even protect himself with it to form a neat little shield. On top of that, he can turn invisible.
Wiz: His most powerful and most reliable weapon is his Stygian Iron Sword. It's three feet long. Only the children of Hades are capable of using a sword made out of this material. It enhances his underworld power and can even drain power from the opponent to make the sword itself more powerful.
Boomstick: So, at the end of the day, Nico is the son of Hades, with the power to control chunks of rock, bring corpses back to life, turn himself and others into mostly nothing, and...he's depressed.
Wiz: Most importantly of all, he grew into a somewhat respected demigod and skilled fighter. He conquered his PTSD of his Sister's death, learn to form a stable relationship with his father, and even admit his crush for Percy Jackson.
Boomstick: But Percy kinda rejected him and started dating someone else, so that crush didn't last very long.
Wiz: *Sigh* Yes, yes, that's true. Similarly, Nico's weaknesses are that sometimes his PTSD can linger in the middle of a battle, occasionally cutting his focus, and allowing opponents to take advantage of this and take him out. Something that could definitely happen here.
The Devil rolls the dice for DEATH BATTLE[]
A quick Note: I will be using only the game version of the Devil, as the Show, as entertaining as it was, nerfs the character and while it does give him few additional forms, I would rather stick with the canon version of the character. Hope this cleans up any potential future confusion.
Wiz: In Inkwell hell, lies a Casino. In that casino, people waste themselves away gambling all their worth away under the watchful and terrifying eye of the Devil.
Boomstick: This guy is straight up literal Satan of this weird 30's universe. I mean look, he even carries a gold trident. And I feel like a casino is exactly the right job a devil would own, hmmmmmm.
Wiz: The two brothers of Cuphead and Mugman were doing incredibly well at the 'craps' table, until The Devil himself offered them all the loot in the casino or the pair's souls for a single dice roll. Blinded by riches, Cuphead accepted before Mugman could say no. Unfortunately, the brothers lost and therefore owed the Devil their souls.
Boomstick: So things were looking bad. But the Devil did give them another way to repay him. They could...beat up a load of different guys to get them to hand over their souls...perfect.
Wiz: But after an epic journey of hardships, and many diverse bosses. The brothers succeeded in their quest and returned to the Devil. However he gave them two choices. Either hand him the souls and join his team, or, refuse and fight the DEVIL HIMSELF in a fight. You can probably guess the canon ending.
Boomstick: And the second you start this fight, you realise the Devil has a lot of wacked out shit. He can shoot bouncy balls that kinda just bounce around the place, fire balls that home in on the opponent, or he can just hit you with his trident. Neat.
Wiz: But in his base form, the Devil also has access to a bunch of transformations he can switch between in battle. One of those being the Goat form, where he transforms his head into that of a goat, and extends his arms countless times their own length, equipped with hooves to crush opponent. Also he has the spider form, where he takes off his own head, which turns into a spider that attempts to slam the opponent.
Boomstick: He also gains a few extra arms, like a creepy hentai monster.
Wiz: Yes..and finally is the Dragon form, or the serpent form, he can't really decide on the name. What it does, is the Devil extends his neck to an absurd length to support his head, which has turned into that of a dragon, to snap and bite at foes.
Boomstick: These annoying little purple bastards also run around the floor, that you can kill in pretty much one hit. Just for some more ground control I guess.
Wiz: However they do get more annoying when there' more than one of them, so if they stack, they could start to become a real issue.
Boomstick: And it none of that works, The Devil just goes 'screw it', and takes of his own skin to become his 'true form'. He basically turns a hundred times his height and you fight him literally in the depths of hell.
Wiz: In the Devil's 'True Form', he is notably A LOT bigger, when joining his eyes together, he can create a fiery axe that hurtles towards opponents to inflict damage. He can also create pink bombs that based on the blast radius, most be worth each about 0.5 tons of TNT. And he doesn't exactly run out of these either.
Boomstick: But when he gets angry, he kinda summons these fat ass demons that fly around and shoot tiny balls of fire. Pretty worthless really, as they can be destroyed in only a few hits. And when he loses he freaking has a mental breakdown and STARTS CRYING BLOOD HOLY SHIT!
Wiz: The Devil is fast enough to land hits on Cuphead and Mugman, who can dodge beams of light,he is strong enough to break through a foot inch floor made out of stone in one kick, he can even just summon holes in the ground to swallow up enemies and clearly powerful enough be the ruler of Hell.
Boomstick: Well, you know what they say Wiz.
Wiz: What do they say, Boomstick?
Boomstick: GAMBLING IS BAD!
Wiz: Right...
Pre Death Battle[]
Wiz: Alright, the combatants are set and we've run the data through all the possibilities.
Boomstick: It's time for a DEATH BAAAATTTTTLLLLEEEEEE!!!!!!
Death Battle[]
The Battle opens with Nico walking in a dense forest, gently edging the life of the trees to move them out of the way, so he can get through. As a tiny anthropomorphic flower runs past him, Nico stares it down and wears a puzzled expression at the strange creatures he is encountering. And as an accord suddenly drops overhead. The Death Kid slices it in half with his sword. Then, all of a sudden, the ground starts to shake. Nico senses the earth, and feels a dangerous foe arising to the surface.
"What's my dad done this time?" Nico muttered. The Devil himself burst from the ground, standing a top a pillar of fire. His normally mischievous expression is turned upside down in a frown.
"Who says you can just barge in here and start cutting up my vegetation." The Devil thunders, towering over Nico. The son of hades sighs and throws up his hands.
"Look man, it was an accident, can you please just go back to where you came from. If not, I'll have to use force." The Devil's face suddenly splits into a smile that spreads from ear to ear. He takes out his gleaming gold trident.
"If it's conflict you want then it's conflict you'll get."
FIGHT!!!
The Devil then shoots a ball of fire, straight at Nico, who rolls under it, and grips his blade tightly. Extinguishing the flames, The Devil jumps down from the pillar and stars swinging his trident at the son of hades, who manages to parry every blow, and although the more skilled fighter is clear cut, the Devil doesn't hold back, occasionally spinning his trident round so fast it creates a golden like shield. But Nico gets in a lucky shot, and cuts the Devil's shoulder. A noticeable gash opens in his black furry shoulder, and he winces as a purple like substance is withdrawn form his body and enters Nico's sword, causing it to glow a dim purple. The Devil leaps backward and spins his trident so a combination of bouncy balls and fireballs soar towards his opponent. Nico slices the balls clean in half and parries the fireball. And in response, picks up a large chunk of the earth and sends it towards the Devil. But the Devil's head suddenly twists into that of a goat, and his hands are equipped with hooves that smash the rock into smaller pieces. Nico takes control of them, now wickedly sharp, the smaller rocks are sent back to the Devil. But to end this match of tennis, The Devil's neck stretches and his head turns into a dragon, he catches the pieces in his mouth and crunches them to splinters. His head returns to normal and the two pause for breath.
"What kind of monster are you?" Nico bewilderedly asks.
"The one that will end you!" The Devil cries, with a disturbing grin. Nico takes a deep breath and then strains hard. The ground shakes for the second time this battle as 100 or so skeleton warriors holding swords and spears climb out of the ground. But the Devil is barely fazed. His grin somehow stretches even further, and he suddenly stars pointing towards different solider with his trident. Countless holes begin opening, that swallow up the skeleton's one by one. However they quickly figure what what is happening, and lumber toward the Devil. The black menace tears off his own head and as it turns into a spider, he chucks it forward and it crushes several warriors at once. As four extra arms sprout along the Devil's body, three of them are still pointing, causing more and more holes to open up, while the other three when taking turns shooting down them with fireballs and bouncy balls that cracked their skulls with the pure brunt.
"I have to Finnish this quickly before I tire out." Nico thought, panting. He drew his sword again and rushed forward to try and meet the Devil, however a shadow fell over him as the Devil's head closed in on him. Nico stopped and slashed round with all his might, causing a large gash in the spider like's cheek. The spider let out a shriek and it teleported to the Devil's neck, where his body changed to normal and he cursed, clutching his cheek. There were only now around 20 skeletons left. Nico summoned a chunk of rock beneath his feet and levitated himself into the air. The Devil cursed and changed into his dragon form, his neck stretching wildly and his fangs snapping for Nico, however the death kid simply floated out the way, and while the Devil's head was away, he sharpened the edge of the rock and kicked off it to the ground, using his momentum to send the rock spinning towards the Devil's body, however his arms, as though they could still sense it, batted it away with his trident. Nico sighed, and willed the skeletons to attack. This was pointless though, as his opponent simply opened a large hole and sucked the remaining warriors down.
"His life aura, it's, gleeful. He isn't even tired." Nico thought. Now in his base form, the Devil chuckled, and began pulling a strange face, he then slid out of his own skin, revealing a demonic skeleton. A ring of fire rose up all around Nico, higher than he could see, on top of that, smoke clouded at the top. The Devil cast one last disturbing grin before kicking the floor, revealing a hole and jumping into it. Now increasingly tired, the son of hades sensed what was beneath the hole, his heart leapt in horror at what he could sense beneath, but before ehe could react, the entire floor broke beneath his feet and Nico found himself falling through the air, he could see jagged, black walls shooting down next to him. He let out an 'oof' as the wind was knocked out of him when he landed on a platform. Nico could sense that the space between the platform was a nasty drop, him looking over the side confirmed this. However, he felt large, yellow glowing eyes on his back.
"Oh gods." Nico muttered, as he turned round to see a massive form of the Devil, his head alone at least fifteen feet tall, his height was immeasurable. But none the less, he heaved his exhausted body toward's the Devil's face, but two bombs flew out of his ears and exploded right in front of Nico, sending him flying backwards into a wall, he groaned in pain, but he concentrated, and changed his body into a shadow, and landed in front of the Devil. The demonic cartoon grinned wildly, and his two pupils formed into a single axe that hurtled towards Nico, but he parried it with a single parry of his sword. All of a sudden, the Devil dragged two fat purple demons into view, that began blowing fireballs at him, and to make matters worse, heavy poker chips started raining down from the ceiling. Panting with fatigue, Nico parried, and blocked, swerved and attacked, but his efforts were in vein. With his arms burning with pain, he swung one last time that slightly deflected the floating axe. Nico then, in slow motion, put his sword back into his sheath, and accepted his fate. As the axe span towards him, his last thought was Bianca looking into his eyes.
SLASH
Nico's headless body swayed for a few seconds and slowly fell backwards into the endless abyss. The Devil laughed a defining boom, as a black cloud surrounded his body, when it disappeared, he was back on land in his base form, he brought out a scroll, and wrote something on it with a quill, it was a soul contract. He laughed on more time, before putting it away. Signed in black ink on the dotted line were three words. NICO DI ANGELO.

Ending Screen A: Nico's severed body can be seen tumbling through the endless abyss of hell before finally landing in a pit of lava and sinking to the bottom.
Ending Screen B: The Devil grins as he happily writes up his debt and then snaps his fingers, summoning his throne, before he sits back on it and stretches his arms, stifling a yawn.

Boomstick: Oh no, creepy dead kid is dead.
Wiz: Nico may have been the more skilled fighter, with a better suited arsenal for a formal duel, but The Devil has this entire match in the palm of his hand. Here's what I mean, The Devil is a character with an immeasurable power and evil. He may have been weaker than Nico, but he was faster, and the power gap between them was too large to ignore.
Boomstick: But how strong was Nico, if he can move a 2500 pound statue at 300 miles per hour, surely he should be able to lift something at one mile per hour right?
Wiz: Wow, that would actually be correct Boomstick. 2500 x 300 is 750000 pounds, convert that into metric tons. And we get a rough calculation that Nico should be able to lift about 375 tons! Which on paper seems useful, but with The Devil's crazy arsenal and transformations, he would never let that happen.
Boomstick: I mean, he's the ruler of hell for a reason. Nico could maybe confront the Devil right up close, get a few hits to power up his sword, and deliver a fatal blow to the Devil, but the Devil has tanked hits from countless piercing energy blasts that would probably give him the edge in durability.
Wiz: And the skeleton warriors didn't help too much. The Devil had way too many ways to dispose of them, to the point that they can be considered practically useless. And in other books, it only takes a few averagely strong hits to knock them down.
Boomstick: The Devil was way faster too. Sure, Wiz calculated Nico should be able to move at 4500 miles per hour, but the Devil can tag Cuphead and Mugman, who are faster than light. So Nico couldn't exactly hope for much of a lucky shot either.
Wiz: And there's not much more too it. Nico's Geokinesis would once again help him somewhat, but Devil could probably resist it even if Nico did get lucky and get in a lucky shot. And even if Nico tried to power up his own sword by striking the devil, he could change into his 'true' form and overwhelm Nico before that happened.
Boomstick: Also, a lot of Nico's attacks or moves require a ton of effort and energy, and resulting in attempting to finish the battle earlier would just require more anergy and he'd probably just wear out quicker.
Wiz: And most of the Devil's attacks just require a simple wave of his trident, or a click of his fingers. Even just a simple point.
Boomstick: Nico tried to fight death, but in the end, he ended up di-ing.
Wiz: Ugghh, the winner is the Devil.

The Track would show the Devil's trident clashing with Nico's stygian iron sword as raging flames can be seen in the background symbolising hell.

A muscled behemoth stomps through the city, flipping over cars and knocking people to the ground, however the ground shakes as a huge metal ball rushes forward, the muscular figure turns around, his eyes glowing red, as he notices a ginger haired figure rushing up to meet him.
