Description[]
Today, it's time for demons to face off against each other. Will Natsu be the E.N.D of Dante, or will Dante hunt another demon? Find out!
Interlude[]
Bryant: Demons. The very incarnation of evil itself, born from the pits of hell itself.
Thea: Not when anime gets their hands on them.
Bryant: Natsu Dragneel, the Dragon Slayer of the Fairy Tail Guild.
Thea: And Dante, the Devil Hunter and head of Devil May Cry.
Bryant: I'm Bryant Reese.
Thea: And I'm Thea Price.
Bryant: And we're here from Fanfiction.net to find out which demon would win, a Death Battle!
Natsu E.N.Ds Death Battle![]
Bryant: Throughout the world, there is magic. And when there's magic, there are mages. And where there are mages, there are guilds.
Thea: And the best guild in anime is the Fairy Tail Guild!
Bryant: I thought it was the Black Bulls.
Thea: No, the Black Bulls is the best magic knight group in anime. There's a difference.
Bryant: I... see. Anyways, the Fairy Tail Guild is home to many incredibly powerful and skilled mages, but also an incredible amount of bills and collateral charges, as the Fairy Tail Guild valued three things above all else. Adventure, freedom, and family.
Thea: And not a lot of people fit those three things more than Natsu Dragneel!
- Natsu Dragneel:
- Age: 400+
- Height: 5'7"
- Weight: 160 lbs
- Occupation: Dragon Slayer Mage
- Likes: Food, Fights
- Dislikes: Moving Vehicles
Bryant: Fairy Tail is certainly home to many powerful mages, but Natsu certainly stands amongst the highest.
Thea: Well yeah, that's what happens when you're raised by a dragon of all things.
Bryant: When Natsu was a baby, he was adopted by the Fire Dragon King Igneel. Igneel raised and loved Natsu as though he was his biological son, and taught him how to read, write, hunt, and more importantly, fight.
Thea: Igneel didn't just teach Natsu how to use magic, he taught him how to use Fire Dragon Slayer magic, a special form of magic that was thought to be extinct and is ridiculously powerful. Man, a dad that's a dragon and teaches you one of the most powerful forms of magic? I wish he was my dad. My dad just taught me how to use guns, and how to live in a cave free of bills and still live in luxury... Never mind, I got a pretty good deal.
Bryant: But one day, Igneel disappeared, and Natsu was left alone to wander the world until he eventually met Makarov Dreyar, the head of the Fairy Tail Guild. Though Natsu may have been left behind by his dragon father, he found a new family in the form of the Fairy Tail Guild, and a new home as well.
Thea: So when someone even thinks about messing with his Guild, you'd better get ready. Cause a dragon's wrath isn't something you want to take on.

Bryant: Thanks to Natsu's training under Igneel, Natsu possesses many abilities which aid him in a fight against mages, mercenaries, monsters, even those who call themselves gods.
Thea: He's super fast, strong, and tough. His training with Igneel made it so that he can tank just about any form of damage without getting too hurt, unless they came from ridiculously strong opponents. Heck, when he fought a pair of mercenaries, they used a technique that should've killed him, but he just shrugged it off like he got hit by ping pong balls.
Bryant: Ping pong balls might've fared better. After all, Dragon Slayers like Natsu were specifically trained to kill dragons, some of the most powerful magical beings in existence. He's an expert in hand-to-hand combat, being able to match other highly skilled martial artists with little issue.
Thea: But punching people won't be enough, so Natsu is also an expert in Dragon Slayer magic, especially Fire Dragon Slayer magic.
Bryant: Fire Dragon Slayer magic is said to give the user the lungs to breath fire, scales to endure fire, and claws to wield fire. Natsu can generate flames anywhere on his body, be it on his hands, feet, or just all over. His flames burn so hot, they can even be felt by ghosts, who lack any nerves.
Thea: And Natsu's got a crazy amount of techniques he can use with his flames. Especially with his signature attack, the Fire Dragon's Iron Fist, where he enhances his punch with flames. This is his favorite move to beat down anyone who tries to mess with his friends.
Bryant: He also can use the devastating Fire Dragon's Roar, where he expels flames from his mouth in an attack so powerful, it can incinerate most foes. Igneel's own Fire Dragon's Roar easily destroyed mountains, and Natsu by the end of his series should be around the same level.
Thea: He's got even more attacks though, like the speedy Fire Dragon's Sword Horn, the explosive Fire Dragon's Wing Attack, or flaming Spirit Bomb called the Fire Dragon's Brilliant Flame.
Bryant: Natsu can even propel himself or individual limbs by expelling flames from his feet or elbow, such as with his Fire Dragon's Flame Elbow, or the Fire Dragon's Claws. Though there's one more trick he can use to help him fight.
Thea: He can eat fire! Even a small amount of flame is enough to replenish his magic reserves, and as long as there's fire, he has magic. Though he also can just eat fire to feed himself. But he can even eat other forms of fire magic, like the flames of other dragons, fire mages, and even Fire God Slayers.
Bryant: But Natsu can also eat other forms of magic, including Lightning Magic. This grants him a powerful form called Lightning Dragon Fire Mode, which allows him to enhance all of his attacks with lightning, and gives him an incredible boost in strength, speed, and durability. He can perform enhanced versions of his previous techniques, such as his Lightning Fire Dragon's Iron Fist, or his Lightning Fire Dragon's Roar.
Thea: And if he gets a big enough magic boost, he can enter Dragon Force, which is just as strong as Lightning Dragon Fire Mode. He can even use Dragonize, a mode which turns half of his body into a dragon's body, and gives him a wing to fly with.
Bryant: But Natsu doesn't just rely on pure overwhelming power. He's also surprisingly smart, being able to use his enhanced sense to track and predict his opponent's moves and techniques. He can also move faster than the eye can see, and endure immense amounts of pain. Amounts that would kill regular people.
Thea: So, with a lot of powers and power on his side, Natsu was easily one of the best defenders and fighters of the Fairy Tail Guild. But his power was almost unnatural in some ways. All thanks to his story before he even met Igneel.
Bryant: Natsu once had a human family, the original Dragneels. However, a group of wild dragons ended up burning down the village that he and his family lived in, leaving his brother as the sole survivor. Zeref sought to find a way to bring his brother back to life, and eventually discovered the secret connection between life, death, and magic.
Thea: Natsu was brought back, but not as a human. He was brought back as the strongest in the Books of Zeref, a series of magic books that contained all sorts of Dark Magic, each with a demon connected to it. In Natsu's case, he was brought back as a demon specifically designed to kill Zeref, who had been corrupted by his own Dark Magic.
Bryant: And so, Natsu was brought back from the dead as Zeref's most powerful creation from his most valuable Book, Etherious Natsu Dragneel. Also known as the demon, E.N.D.
Thea: ... That's a badass name.
Bryant: But ironically, despite being the vilest demon made by the most evil of wizards, Natsu was almost exclusively a protector. All he wants in life is to protect the ones who he holds dear, especially after Igneel's death at the hands of Acnologia, the Black Dragon of the Apocalypse.
Thea: So Natsu ended up leaving in order to grow stronger, and stronger. He aimed to be so strong, not even Zeref or Acnologia could bring him down.
Bryant: And that's when Natsu unlocked his most powerful form yet, Fire Dragon King Mode. This mode grants him the fiery power of Igneel himself, granting him nearly unmatched magic power. When activated, entire bodies of water, like lakes which can hold up to 32 million gallons of water, evaporate simply from Natsu's presence. With this mode, Natsu can perform spells that channels this overwhelming literal fire power into devastatingly powerful attacks, like the Fire Dragon King's Demolition Fist, or the Fire Dragon King's Roar.
Thea: He can even create scales on his body with the Fire Dragon King's Scales, and unleash an omnidirectional explosion of fire with the Fire Dragon King's Purgatory.
Bryant: It's important to note, however, that this form was originally used with the remnants of Igneel's power, which was a one-time deal. Natsu's Fire Dragon King Mode is no longer as powerful as it was before, though he can still reach a similar level of power with his own magic.
Thea: Well, while Fire Dragon King Mode might not be the Zeref-killing power he originally designed it to be, Natsu's still got one last trick up his sleeves. Uh, I mean, wristbands. Curse Power, also known as E.N.D Power.
Bryant: In this state, Natsu's original demonic power returns, turning him into the demon that Zeref designed him to be. In this state, Natsu gains a more demonic body, and his power skyrockets. It's likely that this power, if given the chance, would be able to prove itself to be around as powerful as his original Fire Dragon King Mode was, as both forms were specifically designed to kill Zeref.
Thea: Sure, it makes him extra murdery for his brother, but Natsu did learn to control his power pretty well after that. With all this power, it's no wonder why Natsu is considered to be one of the strongest mages not just in Fairy Tail, but the world.
- Achievements:
- Defeated Jellal, Hades, Sting and Rogue, Zero, Cobra, Dimaria, Zeref
- Killed 973 people in one move while in base-form
- Destroyed towns on accident
- Moved despite Time Magic affecting him
- One-shot a War God
- Detected troublemakers over a mile away
- Can fight for literal days
Thea: I mean, the dude can fight with some of the strongest mages, and come out on top, even when he's fighting two Dragon Slayers at once!
Bryant: He's even defeated a God Slayer, a mage specifically trained to kill gods. Natsu actually fought a god once himself, and defeated it with a single strike.
Thea: Not too out of touch with a guy who can kill 973 people in his base form with just one attack!
Bryant: Natsu's sense are also powerful enough to detect a trio of vagabonds from far away, and his control over his magic is precise enough to take each one out even when he couldn't see them. He even manipulated his flames to a point he hit them all one by one, as if it was a homing attack.
Thea: Considering how precise he can be, you know that he causes all that collateral damage on purpose. Then again, it could be worse. After all, in either E.N.D. or Dragon Fire King Mode, he was on par with the likes of Zeref. And he was even able to avenge dear old dragon daddy by taking down Acnologia by combining the power of seven Dragon Slayers.
Bryant: Speaking of E.N.D., Natsu was able to use this form to ignore the effects of Time Magic, which brought time to a stop. While it's unlikely that E.N.D. is capable of moving faster than time can calculate, it is likely that E.N.D.'s magic allows Natsu to ignore the effects of time stop, and Natsu has repeatedly shown to be capable of simply overpowering certain magic effects with his own magical power.
Thea: But he's still definitely fast. He beat both Sting and Rogue at once in his base form while they were using Dragon Force, and Sting is the Light Dragon Slayer. That'd make Natsu as fast, if not faster than light. And he beat them in his base form, before a time skip training arc! Imagine how much faster he'd be at his best!
Bryant: Eh, given how Natsu in his base form was helpless before Bluenote, was on par with the likely equal or stronger Hades with Lightning Dragon Fire Mode during the same arc, how his base form was likely stronger than he was when he fought Hades after unlocking Second Origin, which is basically his hidden magic potential unleashed and at this point made him strong enough to match the likes of Sting, and then considering the fact that Natsu wasn't anywhere near strong enough to even come close to defeating Acnologia afterwards-
Thea: General estimate nerd.
Bryant: Likely anywhere between twenty to fifty times faster thank light based on scaling Natsu's base form to his stronger forms prior to any form of special training, which always seem to make Natsu's previous level of power seem irrelevant when he returns, as well as his stronger forms.
Thea: There we go. And Natsu at his best likely scales to the likes of Selene, a mage who increased the size of the moon, which was calculated to require the energy equivalent of about 2.7 yottatons of TNT. That's enough power to destroy a planet! There's actually been several characters who were able to achieve a similar level of power, and Natsu is stronger than all of them!
Bryant: What's more, Natsu's E.N.D form being comparable to the likes of Zeref and Acnologia, who were considered to be some of if not the most powerful magical beings in Fairy Tail, could possibly put him on the same level as the Eclipse Celestial Spirit King, who channeled enough power to destroy the Celestial Spirit World. While we don't know the exact size of the Celestial Spirit World, we are capable of seeing stars within it, so it's likely that this is a Galaxy-level feat, though, admittedly this is a rather dubious scaling.
Thea: And, just as a bonus, he can turn into a ghooooost~!
Bryant: Even when Natsu's magic runs out, he's still capable of fighting for days. And be it his Dragon Slayer biology or his demon biology, Natsu has been able to adapt to magics that was thought to had been able to kill him if eaten.
Thea: And Natsu can become even stronger thanks to the power of friendship!
Bryant: Right, magic has also been affected by one's own mental state. After all, in the world of Fairy Tail, magic is just another body function. Natsu's fiercely loyal and protective of his friends, and has been willing to sacrifice anything and everything for even the chance to protect the ones he loves. This gives him the motivation necessary to continuously push his body and magic far beyond his limit, much like the story of a mother who was able to move a car out of her desperation to protect her children.
Thea: Though Natsu is far from the only one who will do whatever it takes in his Guild. Lucy Heartfilia, Erza Scarlet, Gray Fullbuster. Everyone is ready to fight at Natsu's side. Which is good for Natsu, since he's definitely not the perfect mage.
- Weaknesses:
- Motion Sickness
- Finite Magical Powers
- Enhanced modes can drain magic quickly
Bryant: Right, Natsu may be powerful, but he has his flaws. He has a limit, and his brashness can lead him to reach these limits extremely quickly.
Thea: Being raised by a dragon, Natsu relies more on his instincts rather than his brains, and not a lot is more fun to him than a good fight, so he's more focused on giving a fight everything he's got instead of playing it smart like Gray or Lucy. This is probably also why he causes so much collateral damage whenever he fights.
Bryant: What's more, while Natsu's super senses are extremely useful both in and out of a fight, Natsu's enhanced sense can be overloaded when he's on a moving vehicle, giving him an extreme case of motion sickness. Even if it's a vehicle barely moving at all, he's completely overwhelmed by his motion sickness.
Thea: And he can't eat his own fire, so he can't rely on that to replenish his magic. Not to mention that he has a habit of using all of his magic pretty quickly, which limits his options. Sure, he can fight without his magic, but he's nowhere near as capable when his magic runs out.
Bryant: Which also makes his enhanced modes a bit of a double-edged sword, as they can drain his magic rather quickly due to the strain of using them.
Thea: Still, Natsu is easily one of the strongest mages in the world, even more when he wants to protect his friends. If anyone even thinks about hurting them, they're going to get burned no matter what they try.
Bryant: Because in the end, Natsu Dragneel is the son of the Fire Dragon King, and very well might be the next king all on his own. The people of Fairy Tail, and even the whole country of Magnolia don't need to fear any enemies when Natsu is their first, and best, line of defense.
Thea: Until he breaks everything.
(Natsu) I'm all fired up!
Dante Styles on Death Battle![]
Bryant: In a world where demons and monsters are quite common, it only makes sense that certain businesses and jobs are created to deal with such situations.
Thea: And the best demon killing business in video game is the slayer-for-hire service, Devil May Cry.
Bryant: What about Doom-
Thea: He's not running a business, now is he?
Bryant: Right, right. Anyways, Devil May Cry has multiple members to hire. The missile launcher wielding Lady, or the lightning-based Trish.
Thea: But the head of it all, and one of the biggest badasses in video game history is the only and only, Dante.
- Dante:
- Age: 40+
- Height: 6'3"
- Weight: Unknown
- Occupation: Demon Hunter
- Likes: Strawberry Sundae, Red Coats
- Dislikes: Debt
Bryant: Years ago, the Prince of Darkness was betrayed by his right hand man, er, demon, Sparda, the Dark Knight.
Thea: Eat your heart out Batman.
Bryant: Sparda stopped Mundus's plan to take over the human world, and separated the demon and human worlds, sealing Mundus and his demonic army away, as well as his own demonic power.
Thea: But not before he had a wife, and a pair of sons. The older one was Vergil, but the younger one was Dante. The two were raised by their mom, Eva, who did her best to protect them from their dad's old enemies. But she was just a human, so when Sparda died, Eva died pretty soon after.
Bryant: With his parents gone and his brother missing, Dante was on his own. He took up the name Tony Redgrave, and eventually became a mercenary. However, his brother was very much still alive, and sought ultimate power, believing it to be his birthright as the son of the greatest demon.
Thea: So when Vergil invited Dante to a 'party' at the top of the demonic tower, the... Bryant you take this.
Bryant: Temen-ni-gru.
Thea: Thanks. Anyways, Vergil invited Dante to the tower, and Dante accepted, looking for some excitement. And he'd get a lot of it, especially since the demon tower was, guess what, full of demons! But while he was up there, Dante eventually came to realize what it meant to have something worth fighting for.
Bryant: Despite Dante's carefree attitude and incredible love for a good fight, he has a strong sense of justice, and a powerful sense of duty when it comes to his family. He also has a powerful love for the human world, much like his father, and he's willing to sacrifice anything in order to protect it. Whether it'd be from his brother or his brother's servant Arkham, who had been manipulating events from behind the scene in order to obtain Force Edge, the sword which contained Sparda's power.
Thea: Even when Mundus rose up, or when Argosax, a demon as powerful as Mundus, came up to throw hands with Dante, Dante was always ready for them.
- Abilities/Arsenal:
- Superhuman Abilities
- Healing Factor
- Devil Trigger
- Sin Devil Trigger
- Devil Arms:
- Rebellion, Sparda, Devil Sword Dante, Alastor, King Cerberus, Agni & Rudra, Nevan, Lucifer, Balrog, Cavaliere, Artemis, Pandora
- Styles:
- Swordmaster, Gunslinger, Royal Guard, Trickster, Doppelganger, Quicksilver
- Extra:
- Ebony & Ivory, Dr. Faust, Nightmare-β, Vendetta, Merciless, Coyote-A, Spiral, Kalina Ahn
Bryant: Particularly because of his demonic heritage. Dante possesses an incredible level of strength, speed, and durability, allowing him to fight off demons and other demon hunters with ease.
Thea: If you want to talk about Dante's demon biology, then you gotta talk about his ridiculous regeneration. This guy shrugs off being stabbed, shot, and tossed around without any issue. In fact, a bunch of demons impaled him with their scythes, and he just killed one by shoving him away, then dragged another around by the scythe still in him, got a slice of pizza, then started kicking their asses with the blades still stuck in his leg and arm. He just didn't care!
Bryant: Dante's also a highly skilled fighter, being able to wield almost any weapon with little issue. He's an expert in fighting with swords, staffs, scythes, twin swords, and even nunchucks.
Thea: Most of these are weapons that he actually obtained from enemies that he defeated, called Devil Arms. These weapons can be considered the weaponized manifestations of their beings, giving them the powers of the demons they came from. Cerberus is a triple-handle nunchuck that can fight using ice, and he later got a better version called King Cerberus, which lets him fight with an electrified three-section staff and a flaming bo-staff. Agni and Rudra are twin scimitars which lets him fight with fire and wind, and Nevan is a literal electric guitar that attacks with surges of lightning and can even turn into a scythe.
Bryant: Dante is also a fan of hand-to-hand combat, particularly with his various gauntlet and grieve weapons. While his original weapon was Beowulf, a weapon once used by Vergil, he also used the fire-spewing Ifrit, and the chargeable Gilgamesh, which allowed him to shatter a massive pillar, likely made of black granite, with a single one-inch punch. He even was able to slice through them with a single karate chop. But his current set is Balrog, which allows him to attack with the flames of hell.
Thea: But Dante definitely prefers swords and guns, like the electric Alastor sword, the demon powered Nightmare-β, the spread shot Artemis, and Pandora, a briefcase that turn into 666 different weapons, like a gatling gun, a giant laser cannon, a flying turret machine with missile launchers, or just a burst of light that can kill most lesser demons without any problems.
Bryant: Dante's even got more unusual weapons, such as Lucifer, a backpack that summons explosive sabers, and Cavaliere, a motor-cycle that can split into two buzzsaw weapons. But Dante's weapons aren't exclusive to just Devil Arms. He also wields weapons gifted to him by skilled humans, be it blacksmiths or demon hunters like Lady. He has shotguns that he can swing around like nunchucks and fire all over, grenade launchers, submachine guns, as well as Lady's Kalina Ahn, a special rocket launcher which can also fire micro-missiles, and a grappling hook which also seconds as a bayonet. He also has, I kid you not, a hat called Dr. Faust, which can fire the blood of demons as ammo while he himself dances with Michael Jackson moves.
Thea: Heh, he's got a pretty big arsenal. But he's also got Styles, which is basically the same as Devil Arms, but instead of weapons, they're superpowers. With Doppelganger Style, he can create a clone that fights alongside him, and with Quicksilver Style, he can slow time to a crawl. But even with all these options, Dante still has his favorites, and standard sets.
Bryant: Dante's four basic and most used Styles enhance his fighting capabilities to the max. Swordmaster drastically enhances his skill with any melee weapon, Gunslinger boosts his guns powers and combos, Trickster increases his agility, and Royal Guard allows him to negate many attacks. He can also boost these Styles with Red Orbs, granting him additional abilities, such as moving mid-air, teleporting, absorbing energy to unleash as a powerful pulse or healing himself, or turning into a near invincible dreadnaught.
Thea: And when it comes to his signature weapons, he's got Ebony and Ivory, a pair of hand-cannons with long-ranged and rapid-fire shots respectively. These guns are strong enough to kill demons with a single shot, and they can even be charged up for really explosive hits. Dante can use these guns to shoot bullets out of the air and can fire them as fast as a machine gun.
Bryant: But his most powerful weapon comes from his father. Sparda wielded three swords as the Dark Knight, and Dante inherited two such swords. The first is Rebellion, the counter-part to Vergil's Yamato. Rebellion is a sword that Dante can use with ease, and can throw like a buzzsaw. He can also channel demonic energy through the sword. But the most useful part of Rebellion was its role in unlocking Dante's Devil Trigger, a form which taps into Dante's demonic biology to greatly enhance his abilities to the extreme.
Thea: And the other sword is Force Edge, the manifestation of Sparda's power. It can transform into Sparda, a sword named after his father, and can turn into a scythe. But the real deus ex machina is what it did when combined with the power of Rebellion.
Bryant: Sparda was an incredibly powerful demon, yet he was also semi-human thanks to his ability to feel compassion, and love. Vergil and Dante represented these two sides. Vergil represented Sparda's power, the demon side, while Dante represented Sparda's compassion, the human side. And yet, their lives weren't that black and white. Though Dante sought to protect humanity, something that came about due to the more human side of Sparda, he couldn't obtain that power until he embraced the demon side of him. An parallel of how Vergil needed to embrace the compassionate, human side of himself in order to fulfill the desire of his demon side. And when Dante fully accepted the demon power within him, he was able to merge Rebellion and Sparda, in order to form his most powerful weapon, and his most powerful state. Devil Sword Dante, and the Sin Devil Trigger.
Thea: With Devil Sword Dante, he can launch fireballs, dash over the ground with Stinger, stab his opponent rapidly with Million Stab, and more. He can even slash while using energy swords that can follow his movements, form a buzzsaw in the air, or just launch themselves at enemies like flying spears. He can even use them as weak shields.
Bryant: And while Dante's Devil Trigger is incredibly powerful, his Sin Devil Trigger is leagues above. In this state, Dante obtains a state of super armor, which allows him to continue his attacks without it being interrupted. He can teleport, use homing dash attacks, fly, attack with fireballs or rapid-fire lasers, create shockwaves, and unleash a barrage of sword attacks that end in a devastating explosion.
Thea: And when you take all of these abilities and combine them with Dante's feats, you can see why he's easily one of the strongest demon hunters in his world.
- Achievements:
- Defeated Arkham, Mundus, Nightmare, Abigail, Argosax, Nero, Urizen, Vergil
- Ran fast enough to catch on fire
- Blocked and dodged lasers
- Survived being hit by meteors
- Killed thousands of demons
- Can fire bullets accurately enough to stack on a sword hilt
- Is stronger than his father
Thea: Dante is able to take on just about any demon after all. Even something like a Blitz, a demon that's considered to be the incarnation of lightning. Which makes it anywhere from 224,000 mph, to 220,000,000 mph. He's even fast enough to dodge and block lasers when he was much younger, without his Devil Trigger, making him faster than the speed of light. Some people even believe that he's capable of dog fighting at speeds literally hundreds of times faster than light.
Bryant: Even when he was younger and weaker than that, Dante could run fast enough to ignite the air around him. And he could fire his gun with enough precision to stack each individual bullet onto his sword's hilt, which likely had a diameter of around 1-2 inches, even from far far away.
Thea: He's saved the world over and over again, mostly by taking down some of the highest tiers in his series. Like Arkham after he obtained Sparda's power, and Vergil when he had Force Edge. In fact, Dante could even defeat Mundus while he was at his best, and Mundus was a near equal match to Sparda! So by the time he got to Devil May Cry 2, 4, and/or 5, he was probably leagues stronger than Sparda.
Bryant: Not too bold of a claim, as he was able to defeat Argosax, who we mentioned to be around the same level as Mundus and Sparda himself, and did so without even entering Devil Trigger.
Thea: And Argosax was powerful enough to move the moon to create a solar eclipse, just by waking up!
Bryant: A feat which would require an energy worth about 65.01 zettatons of TNT. Literally trillions of times more powerful than the world's strongest nuke.
Thea: But if you want a real taste of how powerful Dante is, you gotta look at the bigger things, like how Dante and Balrog's fight shook the earth, or how Dante defeated Argosax when he was in the middle of merging the human and demon world.
Bryant: There's actually at least two different ways to interpret feats such as this. Either Dante could compare to foes who were performing planetary feats, or he could compare to foes who were performing universal feats. It really depends on how you perceive it. However, it was confirmed that the demon world and the human world were once one universe, so it's quite reasonable to say that these are in fact, universal feats of power.
Thea: Damn. It's no wonder Dante was able to beat and kill just about anyone who tried to threaten the human world. But, there's been times when he looked like he'd might lose.
- Weaknesses:
- Cocky
- Healing Factor has limits
Bryant: Dante is truly a heroic person at his core, but he also loves the thrill of a good fight. And due to his impressive abilities and capabilities, he tends to look down on regular demons, and even some of the bosses. This can result in him underestimating his opponents, leaving him open for a fatal blow.
Thea: That's not a lot of them due to his overpowered healing factor. Heck, his brother was cut in half but recovered before he even fell apart. But Vergil still reached his limit, and so did Dante. Both were easily defeated by Arkham despite Vergil being easily superior to him beforehand since their healing factors were drained. And when Dante's healing factor was worn out, so was he.
Bryant: And that story eventually ended with Vergil in the demon world while Dante managed to escape back into the human world. And though Vergil eventually came back, Dante was forced to kill his own brother, who had been turned into the slave of Mundus. Despite the animosity between Dante and Vergil, Dante loved his brother greatly. Killing Vergil meant that Dante was now alone in the world. The family that he valued so much was gone.
Thea: Life was much darker for Dante. Just look at DMC 2. But to Dante's luck, it turned out that Vergil was still alive. Sure, he was still evil, but he was alive. And before Dante found that out, he found that he had a nephew in the form of Nero.
Bryant: And Nero cared for his family as much as Dante did. When he discovered that Dante and Vergil were the family that he sought for his entire life, Nero put a stop to their sibling conflict, and proved himself to be just as powerful. With that, Dante was able to give his brother his full attention, now that he had a worthy successor to watch over the human world he loved so much.
Thea: But Dante will always be the pizza and strawberry sundae loving badass we all know and love. At the end of the day, Dante is one of the heirs to power. And you'd better remember that.
(Dante) Jackpot!
Pre-Death Battle[]
Bryant: Alright, the stage is set, time to start this dance.
Thea: It's time for a DEATH BATTLLLLLLLLLLLLE!!!
Death Battle[]
"Whoo! Finally made it to this stupid tower!" A certain pink-haired dragon-slayer grinned as he looked up. Standing before him was a large tower, located in the middle of a large desert. He looked down at a job flyer in his hand.
"So. All I gotta do is take down all of the demons inside, and then smash this thing? Sounds like my kind of job!" Natsu grinned as he tucked the flyer in his vest and slammed his fist into his hand. "I'm fired up now!"
Natsu strolled to the entrance of the tower, but his nose twitched as he smelled someone coming from behind him. He looked over his shoulder, where he saw a white-haired man with a long red coat was walking up to the tower.
"Good pay, and a fun job? Sounds like my kind of party. This is a jackpot!" Dante laughed before stopping, having spotted Natsu. The Dragon Slayer and Devil Hunter stared at each other before Natsu pointed at Dante.
"Hey you! Are you here to destroy this tower too?"
"Yeah, I am. Supposedly there's a pretty strong demon at the top. It sounds fun, and it pays well."
"It sure does! But sorry for you, I was here first! So I get dibs!"
"Not how it works kid. You gotta leave this to the professionals!"
"Smashing and breaking? Sounds like Fairy Tail's specialty!"
"Demon hunting? Sounds like Devil May Cry's specialty."
The two stood there before Natsu grinned and shot into the tower. Dante did a doubletake before dashing in after him. The two ran in and raced up the stairs before skidding to a stop, facing each other.
"You thinking what I'm thinking?" Natsu grinned.
"Winner takes the job?" Dante guessed.
"Now that sounds like a party!"
FIGHT!
Dante instantly yanked out Ebony and Ivory and opened fire towards Natsu. The Dragon Slayer grinned as he dashed around the area before jumping over the bullets before his feet lit on fire.
"Fire Dragon's Claw!" Natsu yelled as he rocketed towards Dante before lashing out with a kick. Dante blocked the blow, but the shockwave shook the room. Dante blinked before grinning.
"Not bad kid. Let's see how you can keep up!" Dante said as he threw Natsu away. Natsu landed and slammed his hands together.
"Fire Dragon's Iron Fist!" Natsu yelled as he rocketed forwards with his hands on fire. Balrog appeared on Dante's fists and flared slightly. The two slammed their fists, creating another shockwave that began cracking the area around them. Dante grinned and slammed Natsu down. The Dragon Slayer grunted as he bounced up into a fast combo. Dante slammed a Shoryuken into Natsu's gut and sent him through the ceiling. Natsu grunted as he rolled onto the ground while Dante jumped through. The Dragon Slayer flipped to his feet and grinned.
"Not bad old man."
"Watch it whippersnapper." Dante grinned back. A snarl caught their attention and caused them to look around. They had come into a room filled with demons and monsters slowly crawling towards them.
"Well, now we have guests!" Dante said.
"Time to start the barbeque!" Natsu grinned wickedly as his flames ignited. The demons launched towards them, but Natsu easily sent one flying with a Fire Dragon's Iron Fist. Dante laughed as he jumped over a demon and shot it in the head as he landed. Another demon tried to jump him, but Dante sent it flying with a flick of his finger. Natsu spiked it into another demon before trying to kick Dante, only for the Devil Hunter to block it. The two continued to trade blows, and even as they missed, they still destroyed another demon.
"Now this is full swing! Time to par-TEY!" Dante howled as Dr. Faust appeared on his head. He began to dance, confusing Natsu.
"What the-" a red projectile slammed into his chest and sent him through several more demons. Natsu laid on the ground, staring at the ceiling, before breaking out into a wild grin. He flipped to his feet.
"Oh yeah!" Natsu yelled into the air before running forwards. Dante moonwalked as more Red Orbs tore through the demons around him and shot towards Natsu. Natsu's flame-covered limbs easily smashed the orbs apart as he tried to hit Dante, only for King Cerberus to appear and repeatedly strike Natsu with icy cold strikes. It transformed into the three-section staff and Dante whipped Natsu with it repeatedly before sending him flying. Natsu slammed into the wall and rolled onto the ground. He bent over before rearing back, a magic glyph appearing in front of his face.
"Fire Dragon's Roar!" Natsu screamed as fire shot from his mouth. Dante swung King Cerberus in a circle, the icy wind protecting him from the flames. But the power of the attack overwhelmed him, and Dante was sent flying through the stone wall.
"Fire Dragon's Wing Attack!" Natsu yelled as he appeared in front of Dante and slammed his flaming hands into the Devil Hunter's chest, causing them to explode. Dante grunted as he slammed through the stone floor, groaning slightly. Natsu yelled as he fell down and slammed his hand into the ground, but Dante rolled out of the way while spinning on his head before flipping to his feet.
"Fire Dragon's-!" Natsu began before Dante pulled out Kalina Ahn and shot the Dragon Slayer point-blank, sending him flying backwards. Natsu slammed into a suit of armor and knocked it over before kicking it towards Dante. Dante teleported with a flash of red light, surprising Natsu.
"Okay, what kind of magic is this guy using?" Natsu wondered out loud.
"The magic of awesome!" Dante said as he appeared and played a power cord on Nevan.
"Well here's the magic of super awesome!" Natsu said as he slammed his fists together.
"The flame on my left hand! The flame on my right! They come together! Fire Dragon's Brilliant Flame!" Natsu yelled as he created the large sphere of fire and hurled it at Dante. The Devil Hunter shifted Nevan into a scythe, but Natsu dashed behind him and upper-cutted him from behind, sending him into the fireball.
"Fire Dragon's Roar!" Natsu yelled as he blasted the fireball with his fire breath, causing it to explode. Dante grunted as he was sent through the ceiling, landing in a room filled with pillars. He got up and brushed dust and ash off of his jacket with an annoyed grunt.
"Man, I just got this dry-cleaned." he grumbled. A snarl was heard as a large flaming spider dropped down behind him. Dante turned around and gave an unimpressed grunt.
"Really? This again?"
"Fire Dragon's!" Natsu was heard before the spider was immediately sent into the air and slammed into the ceiling as the Dragon Slayer burst out from under it. Natsu looked at it in surprise before turning back to Dante.
"ROAR!" Natsu fired a massive fireball towards the Devil Hunter.
"Royal Guard!" Dante said before taking a stance. He blocked the attack with the back of his forearm with ease, dispersing it. Natsu blinked in surprise before Dante flipped towards him and slammed the three handles of King Cerberus over his head, causing stars to blink in his vision. The spider demon fell behind the two, but was ignored.
"This is a pretty fun fight kid. You got good attitude, and good moves. But you know what's missing?" Dante suddenly equipped Swordmaster and gut-punched Natsu with Balrog. The Dragon Slayer heaved before Dante repeatedly kicked him against the demon, bouncing him back and forth before whipping out Nevan and slashing Natsu into the air. Dante switched to Trickster as he slashed Natsu mid-air with lightning-enhanced strikes before repeatedly knocking Natsu around as he jumped off the air before punching him down. Swordmaster burst out again as Dante equipped Cavaliere. Natsu yelped repeatedly as the wheels grinded against him and repeatedly shocked him before Dante knocked him back into the air. Cavaliere split into two as Dante used them while spinning like a top, repeatedly hitting the Dragon Slayer. Natsu groaned as he fell down, only for Dante to ram him into the spider with the air-borne motorcycle, sending the two tumbling into a bunch of pillars that fell down.
"Ugh..." Natsu grumbled as he tried to get up as the spider twitched. Dante whipped out Pandora and turned it into an over the shoulder bazooka and aimed it at the two. Natsu's eyes widened.
"Style!" Dante said before firing at the two. The triple rocket shot exploded as it came into contact with Natsu and the demon, creating a shockwave that shook the top of the tower. Dante turned Pandora back into a briefcase as he turned around.
"You call that style?! My cat styles harder than you!" Natsu's voice came out. Dante looked behind him in surprise before blocking a fireball, the explosion creating a smokescreen. He didn't see fire begin streaming into Natsu's mouth. The Dragon Slayer's stomach seemed to expand slightly before turning back to normal. Natsu grinned as he wiped his mouth, having even eaten the demon's flames.
"But if you ask me, what this fight is really missing..." Natsu slammed his fist into the ground and exploded into flames. When the fire and smoke died down, Natsu now had dragon scales framing his face, and he had a sharper look in his eyes. The Dragon Slayer grinned a smile filled with battle lust.
"Fireworks!" Natsu shot forwards like a bullet, slamming into Dante and sending him into the air. The Devil Hunter coughed as Natsu slammed a fist into his stomach before kicking him into the ground. Natsu slammed into Dante's stomach, making him choke before he began punching him rapidly. Natsu roared as his flames engulfed his fists.
"Fire Dragon's Crushing Fang!" Natsu yelled as he slammed his hands down, creating a Dragon Force-enhanced explosion that sent them into the ground underneath. The two began to fall down the tower as Natsu grabbed Dante and repeatedly punched him before the Devil Hunter recovered and shot him point-blank with a shotgun blast, sending him flying into some rubble. Dante landed on another piece of falling rubble before yanking out Ebony and Ivory and firing rapid-fire shots towards the Dragon Slayer. Natsu shot a stream of fire that zipped around, incinerating each bullet before dashing towards Dante. The Devil Slayer grinned before dispersing it with a spin of King Cerberus.
"This is pretty fun kid!" Dante said before whipping out Agni and Rudra while spinning them around and taking his stance. Natsu yelled as he dashed forwards with another Iron Fist that Dante blocked with his swords before slashing Natsu and sending him away. Natsu fired several more fireballs that Dante blocked before throwing a barrage of rapid-fire punches. The Devil Slayer blocked them all skillfully. Dante grinned as the two finally landed, creating two large dust clouds. The two got easily, not bothered at all by the fall. Dante looked around as the tower rumbled, cracks appearing everywhere.
"Well. It looks like the tower is gonna fall soon, and the demon is dead. You wanna call it here? Split 50-50?" Dante offered as he put away Agni and Rudra. Natsu hummed as he gripped his chin.
"50-50?" he thought before grinning darkly at Dante.
"Nah! Not when it's getting good!"
"Then great minds think alike!" Dante said as he pulled out Devil Sword Dante. He rocketed forwards with a fast Stinger attack.
"Fire Dragon's Sword Horn!" Natsu said as he rocketed forwards. The two attacks collided, but Natsu was sent flying back. He slammed into and knocked over a stone pillar. He looked at the rock before picking it up and using it to send Dante flying through the air.
"Fire Dragon's Roar!" Natsu said as he shot another stream of fire from his mouth. Dante dodged the attack before pulling out Pandora and firing another trio of rockets at Natsu. Natsu crossed his arms and tanked the shot before firing with another thin stream of fire that chased Dante as he tried to dodge.
"Royal GUARD!" Dante was suddenly covered in a dark set of armor that easily tanked the flames. Natsu's eyes widened at this before he began spitting more fireballs at rapid-fire speeds. Dante easily began to walk through the fireballs, approaching Natsu slowly. Natsu growled and attacked, but Dante easily tanked his hits and knocked him around with his sword before sending him flying back.
'Tch! Need more speed!' Natsu growled in his head before spinning and landing on his feet against the wall.
"Lightning Dragon Fire Mode!" he said. His scales disappeared as lightning crackled on his flaming aura. Natsu dashed about the room, firing rapid-fire streams of now electric magic. Dante grunted as his dreadnaught armor blocked the shots. Natsu suddenly punched the back of his head, but dashed away as Dante tried to counter attack.
"Lightning Fire Dragon's Firing Hammer!" Natsu yelled as he slammed another punch against Dante's side. The Devil Hunter grunted as his dreadnaught form finally died down. Natsu landed with a grin.
"Alright! Now! Lightning Fire Dragon's Roar!" Natsu fired the massive fire stream now wrapped in lightning. Dante grinned as he whipped out Pandora again and turned into a laser cannon. It fired a beam of light that clashed with the breath attack and created an explosion. The Dragon Slayer jumped into the air as his aura flared up again.
"Lightning on my left! Fire on my right!" Natsu said as he gathered said energies on his fists. "I'll put them together and blast ya away! LIGHTNING FIRE DRAGON'S BRILLIANT FLAME!"
Natsu once again hurled a powerful ball of fire, this time wreathed in lightning. The attack sped towards Dante, tearing up everything in its path. Dante smirked as the attack enveloped him. Natsu's eyes narrowed as he saw this and landed on the ground. A demonic snarl came from the ball of fire and lightning, and the attack dispersed from a powerful shockwave that caused the tower to crumble more. Sin Devil Trigger Dante emerged from the remnants of Natsu's magic, rising slightly with a flap of his wings. In the light of Natsu's flame, it looked incredibly intimidating and demonic.
"Alright kid. Are you ready to finish this?" Dante asked as he held up his sword.
"..." Natsu roared as his magic flared up. He jumped into the air as his fire and lightning flared up once again.
'I'd better finish this with one last attack!' Natsu thought.
"Dragon Slayer's Secret Art Revision! Crimson Lotus: Exploding Lightning Blade!" Natsu roared. The fire and lightning formed a vortex of devastation that shot towards Dante, who shot towards the attack. The Devil Hunter swung his sword and barreled through the attack. Natsu yelled as the Devil Sword slammed into him and sent him rocketing into the ground. Dante speed-blitzed Natsu before slamming him down, creating a massive explosion on top of the Dragon Slayer. The shockwave was enough to cause the tower to collapse, unable to withstand the battle between the two men. Dante rose into the air, ignoring the collapsing rubble even as they crashed on top of him and fell into the fireball below.
"I get the feeling this isn't the end of this." he mused. Suddenly, the fireball began to travel in individual paths, heading to the epicenter of the explosion. Dante made a noise of surprise as he witnessed this.
"Heh! This flame tastes a lot better than that damn spider from before!" Natsu appeared in the flames before they all disappeared down his gullet. He belched before grinning up at Dante.
"Alright, I'm fired up now! Now, it's my turn!"
"Heh. Impress me kid."
"FIRE DRAGON KING MODE!" Natsu roared as flames many times hotter than before erupted around him. The rubble vaporized mid-fall as they came in contact with Natsu's flames.
"FIRE DRAGON KING'S ROAR!!!" Natsu roared as he breathed dragon fire into the air. Dante grunted as the flames rolled over him.
"Woah! These are really hot!" Dante grunted as he flew higher above the flames' range.
"FIRE DRAGON KING'S DEMOLITION FIST!!!" Natsu roared as he appeared next to Dante. His sword blocked the flaming attack, creating a shockwave that atomized the rest of the rubble as the tower completely collapsed. The two grinned at each other before they began dashing around the area, creating shockwaves as they clashed. Dante teleported behind Natsu, only for the Dragon Slayer to whirl around and kicked the sword away. He lashed out with a barrage of kicks, but Dante blocked and knocked him away.
"FIRE DRAGON KING'S DEMOLITION FIST!!!" Natsu roared as he rocketed back towards Dante. Dante blocked the attack again, grunting from the force. A set of red swords appeared around Dante and nearly stabbed Natsu, but the Dragon Slayer flew back with fire bursting from his feet, dodging the swords. Dante chased him down to the ground and swung his sword again, but Natsu crossed his arms in response.
"Fire Dragon King's Scales!" Scales appeared and blocked the sword, but the sword still managed to slightly cut through them, making him bleed. Natsu still grinned as he punched Dante away, unbothered by his blood.
"FIRE DRAGON KING'S BRILLIANT FLAME!!!" Natsu hurled another fireball, this one many times larger than his previous ones.
"How many of those do you have?!" Dante grunted before flying around the attack at blistering speeds. Natsu dodged the sword swing, but was still punched into the ground. A barrage of lasers shot after Natsu as he repeatedly flipped away from the blades before unleashing another powerful breath attack. Dante dodged the flames before landing on the ground.
"Alright then." Dante suddenly shifted from Sin Devil Trigger to regular Devil Trigger. Lucifer appeared on his back and he hurled a barrage of red sabers at Natsu, who swatted them away, yelping as they exploded with concussive energy. With Natsu distracted, Dante once again comboed Natsu with Cavaliere, shocking him with electricity before knocking him into the air. Dante's Doppelganger appeared above Natsu and fired a charged shotgun blast into Natsu's chest, sending him flying downwards towards the real Dante. Dante held Devil Sword Dante and took his stance as Natsu fell.
"Jackpot!" Dante unleashed a powerful slash that cleaved the desert in two as Natsu flew through the ground like it was butter. Dante took a moment to breath as he fell out of Devil Trigger.
"Geez, that kid is tough." Dante said.
"... roAR!!!" Dante grunted as he teleported out of the way of the thankfully much smaller attack. Dante's final slash had whittled Natsu out of Fire Dragon King Mode, but the Dragon Slayer still approached before standing before Dante with crossed arms and a grin. Dante grinned back as he entered Devil Trigger again.
"Alright kid. Let's give it everything we've got now."
"Alright. This... is everything." Natsu said as he closed his eyes. He opened them to reveal yellow eyes with black slits. A shadow covered Natsu before spilling away, revealing reptilian arms, dragon wings, and horns on his head.
"Brace yourself." Natsu said before dashing forwards. He was fast, incredibly fast. Dante darted out of the way with Trickster, but Natsu instantly whirled around and dashed towards him again. Natsu began attacking from all angles as he repeatedly dashed around Dante. The Devil Hunter quickly activated Royal Guard and began blocking every blow. Some broke his guard, but he continued blocking before knocking E.N.D away with a swing of his sword. Dante whipped out Pandora and slammed it onto the ground as E.N.D rose to his feet.
"Brace yourself." Dante repeated before letting Pandora fall open, unleashing a bright burst of light. E.N.D roared slightly as he felt the light burn his demonic body before he unleashed a powerful stream of flames from his mouth. Dante appeared behind E.N.D and placed his hand on his back.
"Royal Release!" Dante said. The energy he absorbed from blocking E.N.D's attacks all surged out of his palm and through E.N.D, causing the demon to spit up blood. E.N.D roared as he spun and socked Dante in the face, punching him through several sand dunes. The two were slowing down, and were growing tired. They could tell. It was time for them to end the fight.
"Dragon Slayer's Secret Art! Crimson Lotus: Purgatory Dragon Fire!" Natsu yelled as he shot forwards, his fist covered in intense swirling flames. Dante transformed back into Sin Devil Trigger and charged as well.
"Swordmaster!" Dante said as he changed into his reliable Style. The two rocketed towards each other and threw out their final strike!
...
And Devil Sword Dante pierced through the flames and shook the entire planet as Dante slammed Natsu into the ground, creating ravines from the impact. Natsu's eyes rolled into his head, and he finally passed out.
...
...
"Ugh!" Natsu groaned as he got up. It was night now, and Dante was sitting nearby.
"So. You're finally awake." Dante grinned.
"Heh. Alright, you win." Natsu admitted. "We'll split it 50-40!"
"Hold up! First off, that's only 90% of the money. Second, I decide how I split the money that I earned."
"Ah come on! I helped!"
"Alright then. I'll give you 10 percent!"
"Only 10?!"
"You want more? You gotta give me something in return."
"Something in return?" Natsu tilted his head and thought about it before lighting up.
"I know! I'll bring you to join Fairy Tail!"
"Fairy Tail? You mentioned that before. Is it your business?"
"It's my guild! A guild of adventure!"
"Uh huh."
"Freedom!"
"Mmhmm."
"And family!"
"..." Dante paused. He looked up into the night sky before looking back at Natsu.
"... Alright. I guess I'll think about it."
KO!
Results[]
Thea: Well. That was intense!
Bryant: This fight wasn't as clear cut as one would think. Dante certainly had the advantage in terms of his options for long-ranged and close-ranged combat, but Natsu held several of his own advantages.
Thea: Natsu and Dante are both experienced fighters, and while Dante was likely self-taught, Natsu was formally trained, but with less experience. So they should be around equal in terms of skill. But Natsu also had several other advantages, like how he could neutralize Dante's fire and lightning options with his ability to eat those elements to regain his power. In fact, this takes away a good chunk from Dante's weapons in terms of their capabilities in this fight. Not to mention that even Dante's Styles were countered by Natsu's abilities, like how Natsu could track Trickster's movements, or how E.N.D countered Quicksilver.
Bryant: Given this, there's a chance that Natsu could get lucky, but Dante still had plenty of advantages.
Thea: Both aren't the Einsteins of their worlds, but Dante never showed himself to be as much of a goofball as Natsu in a fight. A cocky douche? Maybe. But never a goofball, making him smarter from what we can tell.
Bryant: And Dante has fought other fire-users before, making Natsu not something that he'd have too much trouble adjusting to. But the most important part is that Natsu simply didn't have the means to put Dante down.
Thea: We talked about their respective moon feats, and it looked like Natsu had the edge there. But Dante defeated opponents on a universal level of power! Trillions of billions times more powerful than moving the moon. Sure, Natsu technically has some cosmic level scalings he could be compared to, but unlike the demon world, there's no real evidence that the Celestial Spirit World was actually as big as a universe. Heck, we're not even entirely sure that it's as big as a galaxy.
Bryant: So even if Natsu was able to disable most of Dante's weapons and their capabilities, Dante would simply need to use a regular weapon, and he'd be able to match Natsu. Especially since Dante had far greater amounts of speed, as we estimated Natsu to be around 20 to 50 times faster than light, while Dante was estimated to be hundreds of times faster than light.
Thea: Natsu definitely had the edge in endurance. He and Gray fought for literal days, while Dante's adventures have no evidence for lasting too much longer than a single day. At least not in terms of the adventures where's he's fighting all of the time. But that endurance isn't gonna matter much when Dante was just so much stronger and faster.
Bryant: However, the biggest advantage Dante had was his healing factor. Because of that healing factor, any of Natsu's attempts to slowly whittle Dante down over time would be made meaningless. Sure, Natsu was certainly smart in terms of combat, but he mainly relies on taking advantage of certain openings and weaknesses, or turning certain situations into his strengths. But with Dante's greater speed and experience, he could easily counter all of Natsu's attempts, making them meaningless.
Thea: So in the end, Natsu had the endurance and defenses, but Dante had the power, speed, experience, and healing factor for days. Dante was just too hot for Natsu. This Fairy just May Cry.
Bryant: The winner is Dante.
