Description[]
Nagisa Shiota from Assassination Classroom vs Ayano Aishi from Yandere Simulator! (Wanted to do Nagisa vs Tokaku, but someone already did that) Which of these student killers will eliminate the competition?
Interlude[]
Bryant: Sometimes, life is predetermined. The way we are born, or where we're raised, can choose whether we'd be upstanding citizens of society-
Thea: Or good at killing.
Bryant: Nagisa Shiota, the assassin prodigy of Assassination Classroom.
Thea: And Ayano Aishi, the yandere of Yandere Simulator.
Bryant: I'm Bryant Reese.
Thea: And I'm Thea Price.
Bryant: And we're here from Fanfiction.net to find out which student would win, a Death Battle!
Nagisa Shiota attends class in Death Battle![]
Bryant: In society, everyone is subject to certain expectations. Some will be met, while other would not.
Thea: And Nagisa failed to meet his mom's expectations right when he popped out of the womb!
- Nagisa Shiota:
- Age: 15 (22 after timeskip)
- Height: 159 cm (160 cm after timeskip)
- Weight: 48 kg
- Codename: Androgynous
- Likes: Sushi, English
- Dislikes: Being short, dresses, Science
Bryant: Well, that's not Nagisa's fault. Hiromi Shiota grew up under strict parents, and failed to achieve her dreams and aspirations. So she swore to do what she could to ensure that her future daughter would be able to be the cheerful little girl she never got to be, while still succeeding where she herself could not.
Thea: But, Nagisa was born a boy. Sure he looked like a girl, but he still got that male-exclusive. So, Hiromi Shiota did what any sane woman would do. She and her husband got back to work, and spun that gacha wheel once again. Yeah. If only.
Bryant: Hiromi did legitimately love her son, but her controlling nature got the better of her, and she began to force Nagisa to be the daughter she always wanted. Be it by forcing him to study, forcing him to wear dresses, and forbidding him from cutting his hair.
Thea: Her controlling nature ended up driving away her husband when Nagisa was just a little kid, and he ended up having to deal with her by himself until he was a teenager. But life wasn't too bad. He eventually found a friend in Karma Akabane. An awesome badass who was the kind of guy Nagisa wanted to be. Those two were best friends, and Nagisa felt ten feet tall. And then Karma ditched him in second year. Man, this guy's life sucks.
Bryant: Karma was a delinquent, who often got into fights and was actually quite rich. The reason why he was friends with Nagisa is because Nagisa wasn't someone who was trying to use Karma or take advantage of him. But the reason why they broke off was because Karma realized that, if he wanted, Nagisa could kill him easily. This is because of a few habits and abilities Nagisa unconsciously gained growing up.
Thea: Nagisa learned how to hide his thoughts and intentions so that people can't tell what he was going to do, and he also learned how to observe people, gaining information to learn their tells and triggers. He even learned to hide his presence so that even the vigilant Karma couldn't notice him.
Bryant: But these weren't hostile behaviors. Far from it. It's actually proven that many people who grew up in abusive homes have a form of hypersensitivity which allow them to read people's emotions and expressions, and they learn to hide themselves in hopes of avoiding being detected by those who hurt them. Rather than being deadly techniques, Nagisa had developed protective measures to reduce the pain he would feel, emotionally and physically.
Thea: But, Karma didn't know that. So Nagisa was alone again, and this time, it made his grades drop until he was dropped into Class 3-E, or the End Class. A class where students of Kunugigaoka who were considered failures were place, in order to be bullied and mocked by students and teachers alike in order to motivate other students to be better. Dang. Well, it can't get much worse-
Bryant: And then the moon blew up.
Thea: Oh come the f*ck on!
Bryant: However, it turned out that this was one of the best things to happen to Nagisa. Er, dropping to 3-E, not the moon blowing up. A monster who would eventually be known as Korosensei showed up, claimed to be the one who destroyed the moon, and declared himself to be their new teacher.
Thea: Which sounds like another bad turn, but this ended up being pretty good for the entire class. Not only do they get to try to kill Korosensei for a chance to get literally billions of yen, but Korosensei was actually a really good teacher. He actually cared for the students, and for the first time in his life, Nagisa Shiota had someone who genuinely looked at the real Nagisa, saw what he wanted, and accepted him for who he was!
Bryant: And so, Nagisa found his real home in the famous Assassination Classroom. And he trained every day to achieve the class's goal and earn the billions.
- Abilities/Arsenal:
- Stealth
- Analysis
- Marksmanship
- Seduction
- Negotiation
- Knife-fighting
- Hand-to-hand combat
- Emotion Reading
- Combat Knives
- Stun Guns
- M1911A1 Pistol
- M4 Carbine
- P.E. Uniform
- Smoke Bombs
- Explosives
- Techniques:
- Clap Stunner
- Flying Triangle Hold
- Triangle Choke
- Kiss of Death
Bryant: Nagisa found himself to be rather skilled in this new class, and learned much from his new teachers. Korosensei may have handled their educational skills, but they also had two other teachers in the form of Tadaomi Karasuma and Irina Jelavic, who both offered what they could to assassination training.
Thea: The former assassin, Irina Jelavic, or Bitch-sensei as she's called, taught Nagisa foreign language, infiltration, negotiation, acting, and seduction on that James Bond-type sh*t. This training gave him access to his secret technique, the Kiss of Death! This is a technique so deadly, he could knock out his Shonen Waifu with it and score 15 hits, whatever that means!
Bryant: ... From Karasuma, a formerly high ranking military agent, Nagisa learned how to handle explosives, guns, knives, parkour, and hand-to-hand combat. Nagisa became the third best in class at knife fighting, and the second best at stealth. It's also likely that Nagisa was trained in Jieitaikatkutojutsu.
Thea: For those who can't speak Weeb, this is also called Self-Defense Forces Fighting. Taught in Japanese military, this fighting-style combines elements of Nippon Kempo, judo, sumo, and aikido for defensive movements, aggressive strikes, throws, grabs, and grapples. Nagisa relies on throws and chokes to deal with stronger opponents, and tries to strike at openings with his knife.
Bryant: Speaking of which, Nagisa is arguably the student with the most experience in using real weapons. He's used actual steel combat knives, which he's at his best with. He also has two stun guns, with his signature one being a gift from his classmate, Terasaka. He also has access to his friend, Okuda, who creates smoke bombs, poisons, and drugs with her chemistry skills. His other classmate, Takebayashi also gives him access to different explosives, which can tear down a wall. What's more, he also has access to at least two different guns. While these are BBs, they're altered to be so, and other classmates have been able to use real guns with their trainings with the BBs.
Thea: First is his M1911A1, which can fire 85 rounds a minute with an effective range of 50 meters and a muzzle velocity of 830 ft/s. Second is his M4 Carbine, which fires 700-950 rounds a minute with an effective range of 500 meters and a muzzle velocity of 2,970 ft/s. Not a bad line up if you ask me. Nagisa was even ranked at second at Ambush Shots.
Bryant: However, Nagisa's most reliable piece of equipment is his P.E. Uniform. Rather than being a regular jersey, it's a custom-made military uniform sponsored by the government. Made of a reinforced fiber, it protects him from high impacts, fire, electric shocks, and even blades. It's lighter than a regular jersey, has shoes which decrease the sound of his steps and increase mobility, and comes with dyes which can camouflage the uniform. Even the likes of Korosensei, who could smell plastic explosives under a literal mountain of pudding, couldn't detect less stealthy students sneaking up to him.
Thea: But Nagisa still had more to learn. Every day is a new lesson after all. From others assassins like the assassin master Lovro and the assassin called the God of Death, or Shinigami, Nagisa learned two very useful assassination techniques.
Bryant: First was his real secret technique, the Clap Stunner. Inspired by the sumo technique called the Nekodamashi, Nagisa can stun his opponent, destroying their focus. This leaves them open for a second or two, which leaves them open for the swift Nagisa to execute them. While this originally required at least three conditions being met, Nagisa later obtained a more advanced version after experiencing it from Shinigami, who used it to outright turn Nagisa unconscious, shutting down his voluntary nervous system. This was done by observing Nagisa's very mental consciousness. Perceived as wavelengths, the consciousness can reach a peak, whether it'd be in a fight or being on guard. Should it receive a sudden stimuli, be it a clap of the hands or the sound of struck glass, the consciousness can be shut down with a single shot.
Thea: And once Nagisa experienced it, he mastered it instantly too! He can observe other wavelengths and use his improved Clap Stunner to knock people out with a literal round of applause! On top of that, he can alter his wavelength to match others, which makes his presence undetectable to them. He used this to pull a tag off of Jelavic's shirt without her or the two people she was talking to noticing, despite even touching her hair. If he wanted to kill her, he could've done just that in that very moment.
Bryant: He can even use his wavelengths to alter other people's consciousness, like how he was able to calm down his student, Sakura Kiyashiki, when she was on the verge of a panic attack, calming her down. Korosensei was even able to use this to calm Nagisa down when he was about to kill with anguish and anger.
Thea: Yeah, despite being unintentionally trained to be a killer then intentionally trained to be an assassin, Nagisa's a pretty nice guy. What he wanted more than anything was a family, and maybe be taller, and to be seen as who he was. And he got exactly that.
Bryant: To Nagisa, the Assassination Classroom was more than his class. They were his family, and his teachers were his parents. So when he was tricked into believing that half of them was doomed to die, he nearly became the vicious killer he was made to be.
Thea: Despite being a pretty nice guy, Nagisa has a lot of bloodlust. So much so, that it leaks out with every thing he does. When he poked Karma when they were still friends, Karma thought he was impaled just because of the shock and bloodlust.
Bryant: In fact, Nagisa's bloodlust by itself can terrify opponents into becoming unable to fight back, even if they're trained soldiers or assassins. It can make them hallucinate that either they're facing a blood-soaked snake lunging for that fatal bite or a scaly monster. When Nagisa first faced Takaoka, a sadistic soldier who tortured the soldiers he trained, Nagisa caused Takaoka to collapse in fear, as he viewed Nagisa as a viper wrapping around him, making him helpless. And when Takaoka came back to poison the class and blow up the antidote in his face, Nagisa's bloodlust flared up, making the passive and kind boy more than willing, if not eager, to kill the man in front of him.
Thea: We don't actually get to see him do that, or anything. But everyone in the class, even Korosensei, the guy who was once a master assassin himself and was famous for easily staying ten steps ahead of everyone else, thought that Nagisa was going to kill Takaoka. They weren't even worried about Nagisa, other than the fact that he was gonna kill him. That implies that Nagisa's bloodlusted state made him capable of murdering even highly trained soldiers in a straight up fight, or that Nagisa was regularly skilled enough to do that.
Bryant: Suffice to say, Nagisa is quite impressive.
- Achievements:
- Defeated Takaoka and Karma in one-on-one fights
- Scored a quadruple kill in a paintball fight
- Defeated an assassin with one clap
- Jumped over a street
- Survived Korosensei's Absolute Defense Form's explosion
- Got the drop on each of his teachers
- Drove people insane with his bloodlust
Bryant: Nagisa has proven himself capable to taking on master assassins single-handedly, even defeating his old friend Karma, the best martial artist in their class, in a martial arts duel. Even though Karma "threw" the fight, he only had the option to do so out of sheer luck.
Thea: Nagisa was also able to jump a 20 foot gap without even a running start, and climb a nearly vertical cliff without any equipment in less than a couple of minutes. And despite each of his teachers, Korosensei, Karasuma, Jelavic, and Takaoka, being skilled in their own rights, Nagisa was able to get the jump on them all, whether by coming from behind or from the front!
Bryant: Nagisa also was near the epicenter of a large explosion, which sent massive waves and sent the students flying. Despite being hit nearly point-blank by the explosion, Nagisa was barely even phased by it. Considering the size and speed of the waves, it's likely this explosion was just under 2 tons of TNT.
Thea: Not to mention the fact that Nagisa was in just a pair of swim trunks at the time, and it was still relatively early in his training. With his uniform and continuous training, he'd probably survive an explosion of about 5 or 6 tons of TNT, since the 2 ton one didn't even hurt him.
Bryant: Nagisa's most impressive feat, however, is arguably the one he accomplished in a paintball fight. During this paintball civil war of the Assassination Classroom, Nagisa instantly speed-blitzed and eliminated four of his classmates in an instant with four vertical slashes. Despite falling in between the four students, two of whom were facing his direction, they didn't even notice that he was there until he had already eliminated them.
Thea: They all even reacted at once, so we can probably scale this feat to their reaction speed to their sense of touch, since two of them weren't even looking at him.
Bryant: One of these classmates was Ryoma Terasaka, who was able to catch a supersonic tentacle from another classmate, Itona Horibe. Itona's tentacles were implied to be capable of moving at Mach 10. Considering that Itona was holding back, Terasaka likely caught a Mach 2.5 tentacle by reacting within 0.006 seconds. Comparing this to the fast reaction by sight, 0.15 seconds, this makes Terasaka's reaction speed about 25 times faster than an average human. Applying this to the reaction speed of touch, or 0.08 seconds, then considering the fact that Nagisa likely covered a distance of 28 feet with his slashes, Nagisa had to have attacked at a speed of around 5,966 miles per hour. That's almost 8 times faster than sound.
Thea: I guess his skinniness makes it easier to move fast.
Bryant: With this, Nagisa is easily one of the deadliest in his class, and while the rest were taking talents and applying them to assassination, Nagisa was outright a prodigy in assassination. He likely would've become one, if it wasn't for Korosensei's efforts.
- Weaknesses:
- Physically weaker than other classmates
- Good pain tolerance, but average stamina
- Reckless
- Bloodlust doesn't affect those with stronger bloodlust.
Thea: Nagisa wasn't helpless, but he was weaker than the rest of his classmates. Two girls not known for their strength could immobilize him, and when Tomohito Sugino picked him up, he went from a vicious snake to an angry baby hamster. He's also pretty good with pain, but he has average stamina compared to his classmates, and his bloodlust doesn't work on those with just as much or more.
Bryant: Nagisa's true weakness, however, was how he thought about his own life. He wasn't suicidal, but he didn't care too much about what happened to him either.
Thea: I mean, the dude's first assassination attempt was him jumping on Korosensei with a grenade around his neck. I think reckless might undersell it.
Bryant: Korosensei noticed this about Nagisa. But this wasn't the only thing Korosensei noticed. Years ago, Korosensei had his first student while he was called the Shinigami. His first student was the current Shinigami, yet despite being a student, Shinigami never got Korosensei's acknowledge. He never saw his student for who he was, and this ruined him. Korosensei's pride and arrogance at the time turned him bitter, and a monster who didn't care about the value of a life. When Korosensei looked at Nagisa, he saw the same thing. A victim of their caretaker's arrogance, whose future was in jeopardy as a result. And so, Korosensei encouraged Nagisa to look his mother in the eye and make her see him.
Thea: He eventually did when he and his mom had an encounter with an assassin. Suddenly, Hiromi wasn't in control, but Nagisa, who was born for assassination, was. He showed his mom how much he grew, and Hiromi realized that her son, who she took for granted, was about to disappear from her life, probably for good.
Bryant: Hiromi was a terrible mother, but she did love Nagisa. Nagisa's growth allowed her to realize that she had to grow up as well, and the two promised to have a better life together, a better future. Hiromi even went as far as to say that she trusted his judgement over her own, and she even got back together with her ex-husband, giving Nagisa the family he deserved.
Thea: Yeah, Korosensei's advice definitely helped. His new outlook in life, now in his hands, was set, and with the life he lived with Korosensei, Nagisa decided not to be an assassin, but a teacher, molding people and their lives for the better, just like how Korosensei did for him. He even went on a few dates with his Shonen Waifu, Kaede Kayano. Who happens to be a famous actress. Combine that with the fact that he and Karma went back to being friends before Karma became a bureaucrat, and suddenly Nagisa has a pretty good life. He grew a lot from the lonely, reckless child who had no hope, and became someone who was going to change the future for a lot of people.
Bryant: But there will always be an assassin inside of him, making him just as unkillable as his teacher. So when you face him, just know you face one of the deadliest men in the world.
(Nagisa) Anything can be a sword if you polish it enough.
Ayano Aishi stalks Death Battle![]
Bryant: In Akademi High, there was a bland and slightly introverted young man named Taro Yamada.
Thea: This guy is your stereotypical slice-of-life harem protagonist with all of the tropey harem girls. You got the teacher, the childhood, the goth, the cook, the sister, the fake princess, the council president, the delinquent, etc. You also got the classic 'dere's: the Deredere, the Tsundere, and even the Kuudere. But little did people know, there was one more, one that was also the deadliest 'dere'. The Yandere!
Bryant: Anime is weird.
- Ayano Aishi:
- Age: 17
- Height: 165 cm
- Weight: 43.5 kg
- Nickname: Yan-chan
- Likes: Senpai, Senpai, Senpai
- Dislikes: Rivals
Bryant: Ayano Aishi was a strange girl growing up. She appeared to be normal, but she lacked any ability to feel emotions. She's never been able to feel satisfied, happy, or fulfilled. Likely an inability based on Alexithymia, the inablity to recognize and respond to emotions. Despite that, she was very much loved by her parents, both her mother and her father. Ryoba especially was affectionate to Ayano, as she's the 'physical manifestation of love between herself and her husband'.
Thea: That's not weird.
Bryant: As such, Ryoba didn't seem to mind Ayano's emotionless state, though the same couldn't be said about her father. Her father spent large amounts of money trying to help her feel emotions, but only succeeded in becoming pitied by Ayano. That combined with her rough school life made Ayano begins to pretend that she had emotions. With that, her family became happier with their normal family.
Thea: You might think that her dad was a jerk for not accepting Ayano for who she was, but it turned out, he had a good reason for how he acted. What's the reason? It's related to the fact that Ryoba was, oh what's the word... oh yeah. F*CKING INSANE?
Bryant: Right. Life seemed normal beside Ayano's emotionless mind, but as she grew up, she received subtle tips from her mother on such skills, like cooking, cleaning, and hiding evidence of murder, such as using peroxide to hide the residue of blood.
Thea: Turns out, Ryoba was the same as Ayano growing up, unable to feel emotions until she met Jokichi Yudasei. In fact, the entirety of the Aishi Family's females were unable to feel emotions. And apparently, whenever they met the person who made them feel emotions, they go crazy!
Bryant: Ayano's family had a dark history. Her grandmother kidnapped kidnapped her grandfather and broke him mentally until he loved her unconditionally. Ryoba herself killed five of her rivals and sabotaged, framed, and forced out three others. Though, fortunately, she ended up pairing another with someone else and befriended the last one.
Thea: So she only ruined eight people's lives.
Bryant: Eh, there were others. Even when she was arrested, Ryoba simply manipulated the court until she was declared innocent while completely ruining the life of the journalist who exposed her. But when she became worried that Jokichi might reject her because of her damaged reputation, she kidnapped him! Just goes to show that this form of extreme is hereditary, and Ayano would soon inherit this insanity.
Thea: Ayano went to Akademi, where her mom went, and eventually met Taro. For the first time, she felt emotions, and saw color in her grey world. But when she learned she had a rival in Osana Najimi, she instantly knew that she had to inherit the family business.
- Abilities/Arsenal:
- Martial Arts
- Torture Expertise
- Seduction
- Chemistry Mastery
- Manipulation
- Yandere Vision
- Distracting Giggles
- Rapping
- Weapons: Knife, Katana, Axe, Bat, Boken, Box Cutter, Circular Saw, Crowbar, Dumbell, Fire Extinguisher, Guitar, Shovel, Pipe, Pipe Wrench, Scissors, Screwdriver, Syringe, Panties, etc
- SNAP Mode
Bryant: Ayano begins the game as a blank slate, but she would learn/obtain various abilities/weapons. By joining the martial arts club, she can become stronger and a skilled martial artist.
Thea: We don't know what martial art she learns, but it's probably Shotokan Karate, the most popular form of Karate in the world. It's a martial art with a focus on linear techniques and wide stances, with a balance of speed and power. It mostly utilizes punches, elbow strikes, knee strikes, and kicks. Just what you'd expect from Karate.
Bryant: The Drama Club allows her to disguise herself with various masks, the Occult Club decreases the speed that her sanity drops, the Light Music Club allows her to hide dismembered corpses and weapons in a cello case, the Sports Club increases her speed, and the Gardening Club grants her access to various gardening equipment to use as weapons.
Thea: Man, I wish we joined more clubs growing up. But she also can just read and study for extra skills.
Bryant: By reading various manga, she can learn to seduce others. Leveling up her Biology Skill gives her knowledge of the human body for more stealthy and less bloody kills. Physical Education can increase her speed. And Psychology lets her become more manipulative and cunning. She's also rather stealthy, being able to follow people without being detected for a while.
Thea: She's a master chemist, and a master sadist, being able to mentally break people in less than 40 hours, turning them into her slaves. And then we get to weirder things, like her Yandere Vision, which lets her see through walls and even slows down time, or her panties. Which can apparently increase her stats, like speed, or her stealth. Weird.
Bryant: However, Ayano's greatest ability is, without a doubt, her adaptability. Being in a Japanese school inspired by anime, she has access to a large variety of different weapons and items which help her in her conquests. She usually carries around a kitchen knife, a katana, a syringe filled with a tranquilizer, and her phone, which contains various kinds of information to help her on her conquests.
Thea: But she's got even more. She's got things like axes, bats, fire extinguishers, pipes, guitars, box cutters, and more! She can shred you to pieces with her saw, bash you to death with a dumbbell, or even stab you through your skull with a screwdriver!
Bryant: She also uses poisons, which can be used to cause a powerful headache, put you to sleep, cause violent vomiting, or make you choke to death. She can actually obtain these by leveling up in the Science Lab. This also gives her access to a bunsen burner for burning people alive, acid for dissolving bodies, or smoke bombs that she make herself. She can even distract people with her giggles to lure them into traps.
Thea: So, the school's f*cked?
Bryant: Well, sort of. You can actually choose various different routes to take with each rival, most of which showcase the various ways that Ayano is dangerous. There's the obvious ones of simply killing them, but she can also manipulate rivals into killing others for her, ruin their reputation by spreading rumors, sabotage their attempts to get closer to Taro, or simply befriend them.
Thea: Well that last one isn't too-
Bryant: Often by doing certain things for them, like kidnapping the daughter of a loan shark company's CEO and threatening to pull her fingernails off one by one.
Thea: There we go.
Bryant: However, while Ayano is certainly capable of peaceful resolutions, she's still mostly known for her killing skill. If not for her obsession with her senpai.
Thea: If she accidentally hurts him, she'll feel depressed. If he dies, she'll fall into a coma-like state, eventually starving herself to death. She'll even be willing to mind break Taro if it means that he'll stay with her. Reminder. She's crazy.
Bryant: Should Ayano be pushed too far, be it being pushed emotionally or mentally, she can enter her SNAP Mode. A metaphor for her losing her will to live, Ayano's insanity surges to the top, causing the world to appear black and red in her eyes. While she loses the ability to run, her strength is drastically increased, allowing her to punch through torsos and snap necks with ease. It's even believed that she can teleport while in this state. Though this sacrifices her sanity, prompting her to kill Taro and then herself.
Thea: Yeesh. Well, most of the time, she doesn't need SNAP Mode.
- Achievements:
- Fastest runner in the school
- Can move heavy dumpsters
- Defeated Budo Matsuta and adult teachers
- Eliminates ten students without being caught
- Can use just about any weapon
- Skilled Rap Battler
- SNAP Mode allows her to kill just about anyone
Bryant: Despite being human, Ayano has seemingly endless stamina, being able to run at high speeds for as long as she wants.
Thea: Which means you won't escape, since she can outrun almost anyone in the school. She's also fast enough to speed-blitz the students, which means she can run up to and kill several students in less than a quarter of a second.
Bryant: She's also strong enough to pull around filled dumpsters, which likely weigh around 5 tons, as they're filled with trash and bodies, and an empty dumpster can weigh up to 3.25 tons. She's capable of killing large amounts of students in her school, theoretically the entire school. This includes the likes of Budo Matsuta, a master martial artist who never lost a fight. She can even overpower fully adult teachers and even cops.
Thea: How about her being able to scale to Ribaru, an NPC character who can break bones with her bare-hands. And Ayano can break through a human skull with just a screwdriver.
Bryant: Her SNAP Mode can tear victims apart, so she most certainly is vicious."
Thea: But it's clear that her most dangerous attribute is her mental abilities, as she can plan out ways to eliminate people in just a few days or so. She can frame just about anyone too, and she's been able to adapt to just about any situation she encountered. School council president likes Taro? Join the council. Substitute teacher? No problem. The little sister coming for revenge for killing Taro? Die. Wait, what?
Bryant: Ayano is certainly willing to do just about anything for her senpai. That is what makes her a Yandere after all.
Thea: Eh, there's actually some debate about that. Unlike other Yanderes, there's a chance that, instead of being in love with just Taro himself, she's in love with the emotions he makes her feel. So some people don't consider her to be a "real" Yandere.
Bryant: However, Michaela Laws, Ayano's own voice actor, has gone on record to discuss the fact that Ayano has shown multiple signs of a real life medical condition called Obsessive Love Disorder.
Thea: I like how it spells OLD.
Bryant: O.L.D is a condition where one becomes obsessed with the person they think that they're in love with. As Ayano has only felt emotions when she was with Taro, this fits the description. And this condition causes a need to protect the one that they love obsessively, or even control them like a puppet. Symptoms for this disorder include overwhelming attraction, obsessive thoughts, extreme jealously over interactions with others, and monitoring the actions of the other person. While not the full list of possible symptoms, it fits Ayano to a T.
Thea: Well, the whole reason why she started this killing spree was because she got jealous over Osana Najimi being close to Taro, and she loves stalking Taro. I think Obsessive is underselling it.
- Weaknesses:
- Has, at most, ten weeks of experience
- Sanity decreases with every kill
- Is still human
- SNAP Mode results in her death
Bryant: Ayano is certainly the deadliest school girl in Akademi, but she's not perfect. She's still human, and has all the weaknesses of one. What's more, her sanity decreases with every kill, which could result in her becoming sloppy with her actions and leaving her exposed.
Thea: And if we want to talk about insanity, SNAP Mode means she dies. Not the most ideal win condition.
Bryant: Her obsession with Taro is arguably her greatest weakness, however. While it may motivate her, it could also cause her to die in various ways. And while she may be deadly, she can still be defeated. The most notable example of this is Nemesis, an alternate version of Taro's sister Hanako, who came after Ayano in a timeline where, instead of being a typical yandere, Ayano was an assassin who killed Taro. Despite her career, however, Ayano was easily defeated by Nemesis, and can only overcome her by getting to her from behind. While this is an alternate, non-canon timeline, it goes to show that even despite her skillset, Ayano Aishi is not a perfect killer.
Thea: But a killer is still a killer. Ayano Aishi is still ridiculously dangerous. I recommend you put Senpai in the friendzone, cause if you don't, you're next. And chances are, you won't get away.
(Ayano) Senpai will be mine. He doesn't have a choice.
Pre-Death Battle[]
Bryant: Alright, the stage is set, time to start this dance.
Thea: It's time for a DEATH BATTLLLLLLLLLLLLE!!!
Death Battle[]
"Akademi High, huh?" Nagisa muttered as he looked up. Standing in front of him was the famed school building, and the target of his mission. Karasuma had approached Nagisa and asked him to investigate the school, specifically the rumors of there being a serial killer. Nagisa shouldered his bag and walked in, now a temporary student at this school for his investigation. There was tension in the air, causing him to glance around with cautious eyes, though it was hard to notice him. Suddenly, he bumped into someone else, prompting them both to grunt in surprise.
"Ah, sorry."
"No, no, it's fine." Nagisa looked at the person he bumped into. It was a senior, with a rather plain appearance.
"Oh, are you new here?"
"Yeah. I'm Nagisa Shiota."
"I'm Taro Yamada. It's nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you too." The two chatted as they walked along, heading to the same classroom. However, someone was watching with narrowed eyes. She saw her senpai talking with a new blue-haired girl. That wouldn't do. The shrouded figure walked away, though she herself wasn't exempt from watching eyes.
-Later at night-
Ayano Aishi walked through the halls, moonlight shining through the windows. She came across a classroom, and searched through the desks. She eventually found her target, and placed a candy bar inside.
"If you want to give me candy, I would appreciate it if you did so up-front." Ayano paused and looked behind her. Nagisa leaned against the doorframe, now clad in his P.E. Uniform with his rifle slung over his back.
"Ayano Aishi, right? I wonder if you know anything about the rumors of killings going on around- Oop!" Nagisa dodged the candy bar being hurled at him with enough force to break apart on impact with the wall. Ayano dashed forwards, nearly slashing Nagisa with a hidden knife. The two dashed into the hallway where they faced off.
"Senpai is mine. I won't let you have him. Hussy."
"... Of course I'm mistaken as a girl."
FIGHT!
Ayano swung her knife as she approached Nagisa, who drew his own knife as he walked up to her himself. The two clashed, creating sparks as their knives bounced off the other's. Ayano swung wildly, but Nagisa continued to parry her knife and her arms, knocking her swings to the side before stunning her with a quick jab to the nose. Ayano quickly recovered and tried for a wild thrust. Nagisa dodged to the side, grabbed her arm, and slammed her knife into the ground, knocking it out of her grip. Ayano got back up holding her hand, staring at Nagisa from the corner of her eye. He pointed his knife at her.
"Are we done here?" he asked. Ayano narrowed her eyes and raised her hands over her head, slowly walking around him. Nagisa matched her movements, causing the two to walk in a circle. Suddenly, in flash, Ayano pulled out a syringe and hurled it at Nagisa, who ducked under the needle. This gave enough time for Ayano to spin around and seize a fire extinguisher from the wall. Nagisa looked up and threw up an arm to block the red cylinder as it was swung around by the hose. Ayano swung the fire extinguisher repeatedly as Nagisa dodged the blows, cracking the ground as she wiffed another shot. Nagisa spun his knife and dashed forwards, but Ayano pointed the hose at him and fired, sending carbon dioxide into his face.
"Ugh!" Nagisa grunted as he staggered back, covering his eyes. Ayano swung the extinguisher again, hitting Nagisa in the ribs and knocking him into the lockers. He grunted as he dodged another swing and jumped back before turning around and running away. Ayano gave chase as they ran through the school halls. Nagisa turned a corner and kept running, but Ayano took a moment to pause and enter a classroom.
Nagisa eventually stopped in the middle of the hall, panting slightly. He looked around, eyes narrowed.
'I ran from her, but from what I can tell, she's here to kill me. So she won't leave this school. I should probably try to set a trap for her,' he thought as he walked silently down the halls. He took out his rifle and carefully looked around the corners before moving forwards. The building was silent.
'Where... are... you...' Nagisa thought. He turned a corner and stumbled back. Hanging from the wall, red splashed all around, was the school's night guard, hanging from the wall by a knife through his stomach.
"This... This is terrible," Nagisa muttered as his rifle dipped slightly. He looked down at the expanding puddle of blood. And paused.
"This is fresh..." he realized. Ayano burst from a class door and swung a long crowbar with a snarl. Nagisa spun and blocked the blow with his rifle, grunting as he was thrown back. Ayano hooked the crowbar against the edge of the rifle and yanked it out his hands before kicking him away. Nagisa fell back and yanked out his pistol as Ayano pulled out the fire extinguisher and point the hose at him. When she tried to fire the hose again, Nagisa shot the tank, causing it to explode in her hand and knock her off her feet. She got up as Nagisa charged and swung a stun gun at her. She dodged as electricity sparked in the air where her head was. She grabbed Nagisa's return swing and threw him down the hall. He grunted as he rolled over the floor and held his stun gun at the ready.
Ayano swung her crowbar around before charging. Nagisa dodged the swings and tried to shock Ayano, but she kicked him in the stomach and knocked him away again. He coughed as he held an arm over his stomach.
"She's strong..." he groaned. Ayano charged and tried to cleave his head in two, but he rolled to the side and jammed the stun gun into her ribs, sending a shock through her. Ayano cried out as she dropped the crowbar before slamming an elbow against the side of Nagisa's head, ending the shock. She snarled as she pulled out a knife and tried to slam it down on his exposed face, but Nagisa quickly caught the blow.
"Heavy!" he groaned as he was slammed into the ground. Ayano pushed down with all her might, slowly bringing the point closer to his eye. Nagisa growled before pushing it to the side and throwing Ayano off him. She scrambled to her feet and tried again, but this time Nagisa rolled backwards and threw her over his head that way.
She slammed into the ground as Nagisa flipped to his feet and pulled out a few pellets. Ayano got to her feet and noticed Nagisa's rifle near her feet. She scooped it up and turned to aim, only for Nagisa to throw the pellets into the ground, creating a cloud of smoke. In the smoke cover, Nagisa disappeared, prompting Ayano to click her tongue in annoyance. She slung the rifle over her shoulder and walked back into the classroom she came from, coming out with a katana in each hand. She walked down the halls, eyes narrowed.
"I see you!" she said as she dashed forwards. A section of the lockers moved and dodged a slash from a katana that leaved a gash in the metal. The dye fell off Nagisa's uniform as he spun and kicked Ayano in the rib, knocking her away. He grabbed the katana and, with some difficultly, yanked it out of the locker with a screech. He spun it around as Ayano recovered from the kick. The two held their swords and clashed again, nearly blurring as they swung their swords repeatedly and blocked the other's attacks. They began to spin around each other before Ayano knocked Nagisa's katana out of his hand with a well-timed swing. She tried to impale him, only for Nagisa to dodge and knock the blade out of her hand with a back-fist to her fingers.
"Rah!" Ayano yelled as she punched the assassin. He staggered back slightly as Ayano dove forwards and slammed back feet into his chest, knocking him away. Nagisa got back to his feet as Ayano came closer before the two began to trade blows in hand-to-hand. Nagisa ducked under a jump kick and tried to counter-strike, only for Ayano to block and kick him away. She charged and ducked under another swing to uppercut Nagisa. Nagisa fell back as a bit of spit flew from his mouth. Ayano jumped to drop kick him, but he blocked the blow and slammed Ayano down. She grunted as she threw him away.
"Die!" She said as she pulled out his rifle and took aim. Nagisa pulled out his pistol again and took another shot as Ayano fired. The two bullets flew through the air past each other, but Nagisa ducked under the rifle bullet while the pistol bullet shot through Ayano's side. She dropped the rifle in shock from the sudden pain as Nagisa stood back up.
"It's over. Enough." he said, panting as sweat dripped down his face. Ayano looked down at the red spreading through her clothes with a shuddering breath, before suddenly yelling and charging forwards. Surprised, Nagisa took another shot that went through her shoulder, but she powered through and slammed into Nagisa, nearly sending him out the window. Shattered glass fell as Nagisa grabbed the frame. Ayano scooped up his pistol and fired down at the hanging assassin. Nagisa yelped as he barely dodged the shot. Ayano tried to slam the pistol into his fingers, but he quickly swapped hands and pulled himself up with a shout.
"SSHA!" A snake lunged for Ayano's throat, and for a second, she thought that its fangs sunk into her flesh. But the snake disappeared, and Nagisa's hand pulled on her collar, pulling her through the window as Nagisa kicked off the side of the school. The two fell down and kicked each other away to slam into different parts of the school garden, sending dust up. Nagisa fell into the flowers, while Ayano fell through the gardening shed.
The two took a moment to breath, pain surging through their bodies as exhaustion began to set in.
'N-no... I have to keep fighting. She... she's going to take senpai away from me... I... can't let that happen... I won't...!'
Meanwhile, Nagisa laid on the ground, processing the pain. A feeling of helplessness washed through him as what he perceived to be the sound of shattered glass rang in his ears. The doors to the shed exploded outwards as Ayano stepped out, a heavy axe in her hands. Her head twitched, her pupils were dilated, and her face looked insane. Nagisa could practically taste the bloodlust surging from Ayano, filling him with fear.
'Is... is this it...? Am I going to die? ... No... I... promised Korosensei... I will use my gifts for good. I won't let her hurt anyone else. Korosensei... I won't let you DOWN!' Nagisa's eyes snapped open, and he burst from the flowers like a bullet, sending dirt into the air. Eyes seeming to glow bright blue, and filled with bloodlust, the assassin clashed with the yandere again, sending the two back.
He hurled smoke pellets at the yandere, covering her in smoke. But she could still see. A blue figure was charging at her. She swung the axe, narrowly missing Nagisa as he ducked under and uppercutted her. Ayano scoffed as she tanked the blow and swung the axe down, intending to cleave through his head. Nagisa's hands shot up and caught the axe swing, bringing it to a halt. The two snarled at each other as they struggled to push the axe towards the other. Ayano was slowly overcoming Nagisa, but the assassin pushed it to the side and slammed his forehead against her face, bringing tears to her eyes. Nagisa and Ayano continued to fight inside the smoke clouds, their shadows the only thing visible. They almost seemed to disappear as they did. Nagisa would try to strike her with his fist, only for Ayano to be behind him. But when she tried to kill him, he was already moving away.
The fight eventually ended with Nagisa jumping up and slamming both boots into her face, sending Ayano backwards, and knocking the axe out of her hands. Nagisa continued to pummel her, but Ayano blocked one of his hits and slammed a fist into his chest. Every last bit of air seemed to be knocked out of his lungs from the blow, briefly bringing Nagisa's sanity back.
'Her... wavelengths!' Nagisa hand came up to Ayano's neck and placed a finger gingerly against her neck. Suddenly, Ayano's sanity was restored as Nagisa's wavelengths wrestled hers back into control.
"Wha-?" A sudden slap echoed, and Ayano was suddenly off-balance, falling to her knees, reeling from the Clap Stunner nearly knocking her out. Nagisa's bloodlust returned him to the berserker state, and he seized the axe. Ayano looked up to see the metal head falling down before it struck her forehead, cleaving her head into two. Nagisa panted as blood sprayed over him and the grass around them before he pulled the axe off, letting Ayano's body fall to the side. He glared down at her, his bloodlust turning his eyes into that of a snake's.
"You thought insanity could kill me? There's a difference between assassins and psychopaths. Know it."
KO!
Results[]
Thea: Yeesh. Note to self, don't piss off Nagisa.
Bryant: Ayano certainly put up a good fight, but Nagisa simply had her outmatched in many categories, though she did have some of her own advantages.
Thea: Well, yeah. Ayano's SNAP Mode should make her physically stronger than Nagisa, and she had a way bigger variety of weapons and gear. Plus, Nagisa's stealth and camo didn't really matter when she could keep track of him with her Yandere Vision.
Bryant: However, Nagisa had the edge in just about every category, such as skill and experience. While both were capable of dealing with master martial artists, studies show that most forms of Karate don't hold up too well against official military training. What's more, Nagisa trained under Tadaomi Karasuma, who was the best of the best in the Japanese Defense Force, while Ayano trained under a high schooler. On top of that, Nagisa trained for an entire year, while Ayano only had about 10 weeks of experience.
Thea: Sure, Ayano isn't exactly a noob when it comes to a fight. But she never had to fight against someone who could erase his presence, knock her out with a clap, manipulate her emotions, make her hallucinate, and predict when she was about to attack. I mean, Nagisa has fought other assassins and trained to take down a science experiment who could move at Mach 20, while Ayano only killed regular teens.
Bryant: Speaking of which, Ayano's SNAP Mode might've given her the edge in mobility with its supposed teleportation, but Nagisa far outclassed her in speed.
Thea: Ayano can attack and eliminate students in less than 0.25 seconds, the speed of an average human. But Nagisa could attack and eliminate students in less than 0.0032 seconds! That's almost 80 times faster than Ayano. So even if Ayano can teleport, Nagisa's greater skill, speed, and the ability to sense bloodlust meant that he could easily keep up with her teleportation.
Bryant: Ayano mostly relies on stealth and weaponry during her missions. But Nagisa has shown similar levels of stealth early in his career, and being able to completely mask his presence meant that he outclassed her in that category. And while Yandere Vision countered his stealth, Nagisa's ability to sense wavelengths meant that it'd be difficult for Ayano to get the drop on Nagisa. Even Ayano's weaponry was countered by his P.E. Uniform, which resisted most of her options. Nagisa's own arsenal, while smaller, was deadlier anyways, and allowed him to fight at a range. Simply put, Ayano didn't have what she needed to eliminate Nagisa.
Thea: Even her, uh, weird panty boosts didn't have the power boosts needed to keep up with Nagisa. Even SNAP Mode wouldn't have helped her.
Bryant: To be able to punch through a person's ribcage, Ayano would've had been striking with about 79,214 joules, if we were to assume she broke every rib with that single punch. A dangerous amount to be sure, around 11 times stronger than Mike Tyson's 1,600 lbs of force punch, but not even 1 percent of Nagisa's own durability feat.
Thea: Nagisa survived an explosion worth around 1.9 tons of TNT at bare minimum, and wasn't even hurt by it. Even if it managed to nearly kill him, it's still an explosion worth just under 8 billion joules of energy, which is almost 100,000 times more powerful than Ayano at her strongest. This was a wash.
Bryant: Ayano may be a student who can eliminate just about anyone in her school. But Nagisa simply had the speed, durability, gear, and skills to the take the victory.
Thea: Ayano was taken to class in this one.
Bryant: The winner is Nagisa Shiota.

Trivia[]
- Connections:
- Two lonely yet intelligent students born to mentally ill mothers
- Both grew up obtaining knowledge/skills that will help them in their main stories from their interactions with their mothers
- Both eventually enter a school where they meet someone who improves their lives, but also puts them into a life revolving around killing, Korosensei and Taro Yamada
- The contrast is that Nagisa works with other students to kill Korosensei while Ayano kills other students to get closer to Taro Yamada
- Both were born in certain ways that turned them into the people they were, with Nagisa being born feminine while Ayano was born emotionless
- Both influenced the lives of others, be it killing them, driving them insane, or just making their lives better
- Both have also faced off against an unstoppable killer, where they were outmatched by someone named after a god from mythology, and who was important to their target's past, the Shinigami and Nemesis
- Both have states of mind where they lose their sanity and focus only on killing someone, Nagisa's bloodlust mode and Ayano's SNAP Mode.
- Both their stories involve sakura flowers in their conclusion, with Nagisa's series having a song called Song of Departure, which spoke about sakura flowers, and Ayano's games having a sakura tree being the place where Taro is confessed to.
- Another way sakura flowers are involved in their stories is the fact that Nagisa has a student named Sakura Kiyashiki, which results in a contrast in that the involvement of sakura flowers in Nagisa's life helped determine his future, while the sakura flowers in Ayano's life signify the end of her story
- Interestingly enough, both their voice actors have participated in music related media
- Mai Fuchigami, the Japanese voice actress for Nagisa, sung in all four AssClass openings
- Michaela Laws voice acted Ayano in several rap battles, a rap cypher, and even a heavy metal song
